This document discusses distinguishing between exophthalmos and buphthalmos, and evaluating traumatic bulging of the eye. It defines exophthalmos as the forward displacement of a normal eye out of the orbit, while buphthalmos is an enlarged eye in a normal position due to glaucoma. The number of torn extraocular muscles and additional trauma to the body, skull or eye impact prognosis. Retrobulbar disease can cause exophthalmos and distinguishing signs are provided.
