Technology does have it's perks, but are we getting too dependent on it? Technology has its
advantages in many ways and I know firsthand how powerful and convenient today's technology is.

Life is more simple with these wonderful devices, but we are becoming too lazy to pick up a book
and learn things on our own. I feel like I and many of my classmates barley open a book for class,
instead we use the internet for everything. This is becoming a serious issue. I feel that we are not
expanding our minds like we used to back when technology was not as advanced. I remember back
in middle school were the internet was available, but I did not let it take up time in my day. I
found myself being more productive with my life back then. Now, I probably spent a fourth of
my day using the internet, which is not necessary at all. With so much power to discover new
things without even thinking makes me wonder what will happen to our next generation as

Even though some may be very shy, the technology will give them even less confidence to go out
and socialize with people with real people. Roy McGregor (2012) analyzes the negative impact of
technology on our lives and he states "We are physically short of breath, emotionally short of
tranquility, and relationally short of hours required to focus on the people most important to us"
(p.149). People tend to spend more time using technology rather than connecting with their families
and friends. Starting a long detailed conversation with someone in person is almost impossible,
simply because there is not enough to talk about, and people are adjusted to quick way of talking
through text messaging. A couple of years ago families setting around the dining table and talking
about their day was a normal routine, but that is no longer the case for most families, since there are
portable devices that could be taken any where, even the dining table! Technology has departed

The military also has updated their equipment to modern technology. This is a pro for our
country's protection and the allies we serve with. The accuracy of our weapons and computers we
use updated so much since our last war. You could say the FBI and CIA are involved with the
military and they all connect with the president somehow as well. Their technology is so advanced
that it is indescribable. They have access to information we can't even imagine, but they use it for
work based issues around the country or world. They're the reason why it is easier and more
efficient to catch the most wanted people around local and urban areas.
These foreign countries are either caught up to our advancements or way behind. I know some
places do not have computers because the area is too poor to afford that technology. This would
be a disadvantage to technology in the work force of different areas. Some places don't even have
medicinal treatments for specific illnesses like we do. Thankfully there are doctors who can fly
over to these places to help take care of these people. When illnesses spread like wildfire in general
environments, this is when the people need the help the most.
Knowing that churches and schools in America help donate care packages to these countries for
the people is really relieving. In the past I'm sure they didn't even think of doing that. I know from
