A View of Christ Through “Goblin Market” Essay example
Many authors add personal beliefs and feelings to their literature in order to add depth and allow
the reader to understand them in a more intimate way. Christina Rossetti was no different. She
added her religious beliefs. Her beliefs were an important piece of her life. Christina Rossetti s
poem Goblin Market is an autobiographical view that represents her religious beliefs. She added
her religious views to her work in order to strengthen her poem and to allow her reader to
understand her. Her beliefs come from a shared religious experience with her mother. These
religious experiences stem from Judeo Christian origins. Looking at the past of Rossetti with an
analytical view of her poem will help to fully understand the depth at which... Show more content

Her religious beliefs were a huge building block in her life decisions; this also included her writing
choices. The strong amount of Christian symbolism and imagery Rossetti uses throughout the
poem Goblin Market were no accident, they were merely a way for her to express her Angelic
Christian beliefs. There are many messages that can be taken from this poem, depending on the
point of view of the reader. The main underlying message that should be taken from this poem by
all is one that Dooley talks about in her analysis: One underlying message of Goblin Market is
that the world is full of temptations, both sexual and pleasurable, from which women must be
saved through God s grace. Reading the poem for just the words on the page the reappearing
theme of temptation is prevalent. When Rossetti describes the first appearance of the Goblins
the sense of temptation understood: No, said Lizzie, no, no, no; Their offers should not charm
us, Their evil gifts would harm us (64 66). Rossetti provides the proof that the offers of the
Goblins are evil. The proof Rossetti has given is based on the assumption that there is a sense of
honesty and purity in Lizzie. She chose the word harm because it gives the reader the image of
physical pain. Physical pain is not evil in and of itself but being a possible side effect of the gifts
and the purposeful intention makes the gift evil. The caution given to Laura does not convince her
to stay away from the offers:

Personal Statement On Personal And Social Holiness
In my last, in process paper I discussed how my pursuit of personal and social holiness developed
my calling in ministry. As I reflect on the journey of discovering my call to ministry, I cannot help
but to reflect on the mountaintops and valleys the Lord I have walked. It is refreshing and
convicting at the same time as I read through the texts for this module, knowing that the Holy Spirit
is at work refining me more like Christ, and also affirming the choices and decisions I have
made to be where I am today. As you read through this paper my hope is that one will see my
personal/social victories and failures, and how God has been at work molding me like a potter.
I grew up in a Christian home, or at least a partial Christian home. I say that because my mom
had me in church every Sunday, but my dad really did not take part in it unless it was Christmas
or Easter. I mention this, because it was in that partial Christian home, where I was first exposed
to pornography. As I reflected on the content of this module, my journey of overcoming
temptations, and being forgiven for poor decisions strikes a chord as I reflect on the process of
integrity, and part of that journey has been filled with the pollution of porn. Author Headley,
describes Grace not so evident in its arrival, but transforming in power (Headley, 180). This
description resonates with me as I found myself in sin many times, and the transforming power of
grace seemed to always sneak up when I least suspected it.

Roman Public Baths
The Government had many ways to provide public services to the community, they had many
different things to offer the patricians and plebeians. First off the Government provided roads.
Roads helped the Romans move armies, trade goods and communicate. The Romans became
adept at constructing roads. The laws of the Twelve Tables insist that the roads be 8 ft wide and 16
ft long. The Government also provided Public Baths. Roman baths were apart of the day to day life
in Ancient Rome. Romans had led via pipes witch had running waiter but they were taxed
according to the size of the pipe(s). A large complex sometimes had a gym and a swimming
pool. When you re building a Public Bath you have to have good engineering skills because you
have to heat the water. Public bath complexes even had a Massagers who would massage you
with olive oil. I rated this part of Rome a A+, they found ways to provide different types of public
things and those things all supported the citizens in Rome.

Classic Is A Classic Essay
Mark Twain, a renowned eighteenth century writer, once said that a classic is something
everyone wants to have read yet no one wants read; those words have never been more true today.
Most novels that are considered classics, especially during their time of release, seem to have a
universal theme of not receiving positive recognition. However, as time went on, people found
themselves developing a taste for such heart tugging tales. Classical novels, because of the
language in which they were written, contain ideas and build skill sets like no other noveltoday;due
to, the originality and uniqueness of the plot, eternal truths and unrealistic themes, and benefits
gained from reading them.
A novel is not dubbed a classic simply based on the number of printings it has undergone or the
languages it has been translated into. Nor is it called a classic because some ... Show more content

Coincidentally, much of the plot tends to come from personal experiences the authors themselves
have faced. For example, in Jane Austen s Pride and Prejudice, the character Mr. Darcy was based
on Austen s own ill fated love. If a classical novel could have been written twice, then it would have
no chance of withstanding the tests of time. One would eventually overshadow the other. All classics
share the accomplishment of overcoming the obstacles that come with an ever changing world.
The works of Bronte, Austen, Hardy, Tolstoy, and Wilde are all classics; however, not one is the
same as the other. Despite those who have tried to recreate them with nonsensical parodies, The
classics are classics because they are foolproof. Plagiarism enhances them.... A classic, therefore,
sustains its impact over time, regardless of the ways in which it is or might be adapted. The
uniqueness of most classical novels come from the fact that centuries after their publication, they
have yet to finish what they were saying; however, modern novels cannot say it for

Emily Dickinson And Death
The Death in Emily Dickinson Like many poets, Emily Dickinson explored the themes of death,
leading to the answers of so many questions, in which she was concerned herself. Her poetry
frequently clarifies her reaction as to why she wrote about death. However, her treatment of death
is unique: Because I could not stop for DeathHe kindly stopped for me (577). Dickinson expresses
herself being able to accept death as an old friend rather than a force of nature. With many of her
poems, Dickinson elaborates and questions death being incorporated in daily lives as well as the
mysterious life leading after it. Among the understanding of her views of death, numerous people
become frightened as if it were some creature prowling behind something ready to take them at
any second. Death has been stated frequently throughout her poems, each one composed of
frustration, suffering, pain, sorrow, grief, and loneliness. Death is a common theme in her
writing. The obsession Dickinson made of death of darkness, Or rather He passed Us The Dews
drew quivering and chill (577). She describes death from all imaginable characteristics as the
polite lover, the physical corruptor, and the alarming killer. Dickinson s views on immortality were
a problem that was accepted as... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Death is a lurking event that is shadowing everyone, but Dickinson sees it as an opportunity to
deal with it. I believe that death is going to happen at any moment, but find it unsettling to be able
to talk about death as if it would happen shortly. I think Dickinson is impractical to believe that
death is just an entity to love; rather it should be something to fear of. She may agree on the fact
that death is a gruesome conclusion, but I feel that we shouldn t just acknowledge it to occur, rather
wait for the outcome

The Presence Of Social Pressure And Stop Playing With Toys
The presence of social pressure to stop playing with toys featured most commonly among the
participants. They all specifically mentioned some form of conformity to social norms of growing
up (e.g., R27, 151 152; R33, 238 241; R46, 158 160; R51, 302 304; R57, 108 111; R59, 144 146).
They provided examples of alternative activities that were considered acceptable for adults, such
as hanging out with friends (e.g., R27, 103 104; R59, 72 73), and electronic games (e.g., R46, 158
160; R59, 79 80).
The pressure that participants felt to move on from playing with toys appeared to emerge either
internally, stemming from self identification as grown up (e.g., R33, 121 123; R46, 254 255; R51,
79; R59, 55) or externally, through observation and imitation of peer behaviour (e.g., R46, 124 126;
R59, 144 146) In a few instances, participants mentioned being explicitly told by peers that playing
with toys was no longer acceptable (e.g., R27, 188 190; R57, 108 111; R59, 71 72), although
parents were rarely cited as a source of pressure (e.g., R57, 114 115; R59, 140 143).
Participants with siblings highlighted the impact of these siblings on their cessation of play with
toys. Interestingly, participants with younger siblings tended to cite an internal process of social
pressure, where they were driven by a personal desire to appear older:
R27: ... you get to an age where if your sisters are playing with them and they are younger, you

The Theme Of Absurdism In The Stranger By Albert Camus
Arul P Saravanan
Ball
World Lit/ Writ
27 November, 2017
Too Hot For You
Albert Camus wrote The Stranger to express absurdism within society by having Meursault, the
main character, suffers many ordeals without showing any signs of pain or emotional suffering. He
is affected by his mother s death at the beginning of the story. The whole mood, sadness, and
isolation is the fuel to Meursault s behavior, his hunger, and his emotions. Meursault blames the sun
for everything. The sun symbolizes his society and how society has more expectations of him than
others. In The Stranger, Camus incorporates the sun to symbolize inability to cope with his
emotions that stem from his failure to meet society s expectations.
Camus shows many non physical aspects to express many emotions that drives Meursault
through everyday tasks. Similar to the sun, society is generally thought to be a positive figure.
People usually regard a good strong society that firmly establishes its members with a strong,
unified code of morals as something to be desired. These morals are what drives every single
person each day through difficult and challenging tasks. Morals of a society are what makes it
stand out. In the same way, people tend to think of a bright, warm, sunny day as something good
and positive as in for a vacation or a time to relax. However, both the force of society and the force
of the sun can become overpowering. When the sun becomes overpowering it beats down on the
people, suffocating

Top Reasons Why Branding Is Important
Question One A: Using your own words, summarize the seven reasons why branding is important.
1.Strong Brands Protect the Consumer
Brands have always served as sort of an emblem to consumers, that there would be a certain
quality associated with that symbol. There are still many many popular brands today that are able
to be distinguished but, brands are standing out among the rest by gaining a strong positive
reputation which far exceeds the quality of there product. Brands ensure that they will provide
consumers with a standard quality, and if they fail to do so their reputation is tarnished. Brands
fight for our money ever day and try to stand out by focusing more on innovation to one up the
competition. Brands also largely battle with price, which is a large part in the consumer decision.
The brand and quality must be worth it otherwise customers will be lost to the competition. Brands
protect their consumers simply because they provide an innovative product that differs from the
competitions product. At the same time, they are ensuring that the quality is worth an appropriate
price. This creates a strong and loyal customer base that will surely build the brand a positive
reputation.
2.Strong Brands Drive Share Performance
Powerful market performance has been proven to advance multiple components including the
shareholders, the company itself, and pensions. Organizations that have strongly branded portfolios
have been seen to consistently surpass those organizations

The Romantic Periods
In the Romantic period a war and a battle took place, the era learned ways to spice up production,
the play Faust was created, and there were connections between the time period and the play itself.
The first war that took place was the French Revolution.
The French Revolution began in 1789 and lasted until 1799. There were three estates in France
but one of the estates was not being treated fairly so they decided to rebel. Finally, a Constitution
was made and everyone was happy. The battle of Valmy took place September 20, 1792. Two
French armies had some issues between themselves so of course the only way to resolve the
problems was to go to war. After a few days of fighting both sides decided to negotiate and
eventually the fighting ceased. In all the trauma that the war and battle cause though Goethe was
able to find inspiration to write his play called Faust . In order to understand Faust you had to
understand the trauma inflicted on the play s author by the French Revolution. (Kolonie) In order to
deal with wars that were occurring Goethe spilled his feelings into his writing. In the play Faust
the Devil and God make a bet that the Devil cannot make God s most promising scholar turn
against him. The man ends up selling his soul to the Devil but just when the Devil thought he won
the bet angels came down to take the dead man s soul up to Heaven. The author, Johan Wolfgang
von Goethe, is known as the man most representative in German literature. (Magil 733) He

Meeting Luisa At The Bank
Although we were not meeting Luisa at the bank until 11:00 o clock, we arrived in Marsciano
early the next morning to wander around town. From a nearly home owner s perspective, we
looked at everything anew. Marsciano was going to be our home town in Italy, where we would
shop, attend community events, the weekly market, dine in restaurants and make new friends. As
we did with Johannes, we parked the car near the community elevator and took the lift up to the
center of town. We nodded our heads to the locals and bid them Bouna giornata; a Good Day

Risk of Doing Business in China
Risks in Doing Business in China E Y China Key Points For multinational companies, China s

Regulatory Risks Managing the regulatory environment remains a real issue for foreign firms

These issues affect all companies, but present the most serious challenge to small foreign firms
that are new to China and lack international and country specific experience. Larger firms are
coming up with strategies to address these issues, if not resolve them. Regulatory Risks Overview
During the last few years much of the economy has been deregulated, a process that was well
under way before December 2001, the date of China s accession to the WTO. During the 1990s
almost all of the former industrial ministries and state commissions were abolished, cutting the
number of institutions and officials at the centre looking to be involved in business affairs. Some
old school planning apparatchiks have no doubt survived but there are fewer options for them to
slake their thirst for control. Many state owned enterprises have been sold off and a large
proportion of those that remain have lost market share to private domestic firms and foreign
invested enterprises (FIEs). China s thicket of regulations has been cut back and the rules that
remain have gradually become more institutionalized. The picture that characterized much of the
1980s and 1990s everyone from multinational managers to Chinese officials groping their way
forward, often making things up as they went along is no longer representative of the business
environment. Foreign firms in different sectors have greater understanding of the

Comparing Kinetian Devil And Visigoth
The Tasmanian Devil is a vicious creature. The Tasmanian Devil and the Visigoths are similar in
personality and actions, desperate to reach their desires, and they both lack subtlety and depth in
their language.
Tasmanian Devil represents the personality and actions of a Visigoths. Visigoths are marauders
ruthless and brutal. If something did not work out they will do anything wicked for their own
advantage. The Tasmanian Devilalso resembles that through his actions. He is ferocious, short
tempered and has an enormous appetite. He will go around scaring away all the forest animals and
destroying their homes for food.
The Tasmanian Devil represents Visigoths, they are both desperate to reach their desires. To a
Visigoth, the quest for knowledge is useless unless it can help you earn or to gain power over
other people. This is clear proof that Visigoths are blinded by their goal for only one thing,
power. Overall, this could play a huge factor in their down fall because having more knowledge
does not affect people negatively especially in the Dark Ages where knowledge was power. Just
like the Visigoths, the Tasmanian Devil is known to be A strong murderous beast, due to it being

Disadvantages Of Hotel Overbooking
If one were to ponder the question of whether hotels should overbook their rooms the answer may
appear to be quite simple. Why would a hotel owner want to book more reservations for rooms
than they actually had available? This is precisely why this issue has faced the hotel industry for a
number of years. Contrary to what the average person may think about hotelowners overbooking
their rooms, it has actually shown itself to be a noble strategy in achieving maximum profitability
when done accurately. It is imperative that it is done in an appropriate manner so as to not give the
hotel a corrupt name or lead to guest dissatisfaction.

The hope is to have all the rooms on the property occupied on any given night; due to the fact of

success to a vast array of hotels, it is clear that there are also some disadvantages that could
spawn from it. In his article, The Impact of Overbooking on Hotels Operation Management,
Vladimir Sashov Zhechev notes some of the possible consequences that could result for
overbooking when all of the guests do actually show up that had a reservation. For example, if a
customer has made a reservation at a certain hotel and arrives there only to discover that their
room has been given to another guest who also had a reservation, it is only logical that the guest is
going to be quite irate. It is now the duty of the hotel to arrange for that customer to have alternate
lodging accommodations, as well as provide transportation for them to get to their other destination
(Zhechev et. al Ivanov 7). Additionally, the hotel may offer the guest a free night on their stay or
their next stay due to the complications they have just experienced on their visit. This now has

PROFESSOR HARRY SCHWARTZ SEPTEMBER 30, 2014 POWER OF THE BUYER HIGH
Many of the products in this industry aren t much differentiated. Buyer switching costs are low,
and it is generally quite difficult for the players to differentiate themselves because, as a rule, the
products players stock are purchased from the same manufacturers. Players therefore compete
on service, and only very rarely on product. (MarketLine Industry Profile) There are a lot of
alternate suppliers because the products are pretty standard so the user doesn t have a defining
feature to cling to, making it hard for the supplier to charge any price without repercussions. In
Business to Business the buyer has power because there is a variety of other suppliers that make
computer chips or rechargeable batteries for less. In the phone category, the biggest difference
is in operating system (iOS, Android, Microsoft) pushing the supplying industry to make a
phone with an operating system that is user friendly, or the buyer will look elsewhere. Buyer
income also plays a role. Consumers with a low income are very sensitive to price changes and
will often look around in great detail before deciding on a product. The decision is less about
features and uniqueness but based more on price. Phone shoppers often sacrifice features for price.

Power Of Education In The Great Gatsby
October 5, 2014
For centuries, the world has favored those who are in possession of a higher intelligence.
Historically, ruling classes were composed of educated nobles or trained workers, the few who
had been able to receive an education. Education in developed countries is often included in the
basic rights to which every human should have access. Its importance has been the focal point of
countless movements, all petitioning for the opportunity of schooling for lower class citizens. The
United States of America, though it has experienced significant changes in regards to the literacy
of all citizens, did not do so without difficulty. The two most notable groups to fight for the right to
equal education had to struggle for years to obtain their goals. African Americans had little to no
rights until the Emancipation Proclamation in 1865, and even then, only males were allowed to
read and write. Women did not begin attending college in equal numbers to men until as recently as
1980. The strong correlation between power and education makes possessing a sound education a
valuable asset and highly sought after. Education s role in society is a prevalent theme throughout
Scott F. Fitzgerald s The Great Gatsby. Tom s supremacy through education and wealth contrasts
heavily with Gatsby s lack of knowledge, creating tension within the novel between the two
opposing men.

Paul Lawrence theory explains about the human nature and it describes about the four factors that
will affect the human nature and these factors are bond ,acquire, learn and defend. These factors
also called drives but the question is this what drives an individual.Every individual has several
drives but all drives cannot be satisfied at a time.
The first drive is acquire, and it describes how a human improve his status by acquiring
experiences and it is very common. It describes how human compete with others in his life like
employees of the same company have competitions with other employees for different positions and
salary.
Next is bonding,as it is very important in making relationships .The bond is considered to be strong
as it will make by mutual understanding and sharing.Employees working in a group have the
advantage of managing the organization in a better way.
The third factor is drive to learn and it describes that if a human has willingness of learning the
things in the environment then he will come to know that how things are working .If he has a job
then he has the opportunity of developing his knowledge in his field.
The fourth factor is defend,it describes how humans protect themselves if they feel any harm on

Racial Inequality And Mathew Weiner s Smart Yet Subtle...
A lot has been made of Mad Men s take on the period s fashion and culture. From the ad agency, the
alcoholism to beards, racial inequality and Mathew Weiner s smart yet subtle dialogue. His AMC
drama uses setting to bolster character, and character to bring to light many predominant themes.
One of the show s distinctive qualities is its tendency to use side characters in order to underline
the show s thematic goals. This has mainly been applicable when with Mad Men s queer
characters. Where a less complex show might utilize a homosexual character randomly, the queers
on this show reflect an evolution which reflects the changing of the society as a whole. In this
way, everyone from season one s quiet and in the closet Sal to Season 6 s more aggressive Bob

Fast Food Has A High Energy Density And Low Nutrient Profile
The days of eating every home cooked meal at the dining room table are disappearing. As
working and living styles become more fast paced, the time to exercise or prepare nutritious
meals diminishes. Eating habits have changed to achieve convenience. Drive throughs, delivery,
and pre packaged meals regularly provide consumers with breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snack
options within minutes of ordering. However, fast food has a high energy density and low
nutrient profile that has led to a worldwide increase of waistline. Obesity is becoming one of the
most prevalent nutritional diseases in developed countries. In the United States, adult body fat
is measured using body mass index. Approximately 73 million adults have BMIs greater than or
equal to 30, which diagnoses them as obese (Bell et al., 2011). Health professionals have not
thoroughly understood the physiological processes leading to the rapidly increased prevalence;
however, high adiposity certainly results from excess caloric intake and decreased energy

Professional Athletes Should Be Allowed At The Olympic Games
With the multi billions of dollars that the Olympics earn and spend, it s certainly is in the best
interest of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to remain under the circumstances of
keeping sport open to professional athletes, not only financially, but as well as the majority of their
viewers. In this position statement, I will use historic International Olympic Committeeguidelines
(1964) and official IOC reports as a basis for proving that professional athletes should be allowed to
participate in the Olympic Games.
To successfully understand what differentiates a professional athlete from an amateur athlete, and
the issues that arise from it, we must understand how the International Olympic Committee defines
a professional and amateur athlete. According to the Eligibility Rules of the International Olympic
Committee published in 1964,
a person was only eligible to participate in the Olympic games if they were an advocate for sport,
without material gain of any kind. He does not qualify:
a) If he has not a basic occupation designed to insure his insure his present and future livelihood;
b) If he receives or has received remuneration for participation in sport ;
c) If he does not comply with the Rules of the International Federation concerned, and the official
interpretations of this Rule number 26 . (Eligibility Rules of the International Olympic
Committee,1964. p. 5)
If the Olympics were restricted to only amateur athletes, the my country is better

Suspense In The Black Cat
In the story The Black Cat by Edgar Allan Poe the setting, characters and suspense are all used as
elements to show horror throughout the story. The story opens in the cell of the prisoner the day
before he is to be executed by hanging. He introduces himself then tells us of what led to his
imprisonment. The story takes place at the prisoners home or tavern with his wife, birds, gold fish,
dog, rabbits, small monkey and a black cat. The characters that influenced the horror the most
were the narrator, the wife, Pluto and the second black cat. The narrator had major issues, he was
abusive, a bully and a murderer. He made his home terrible by treating everyone and everything in
the house horribly. He is also writing from a prison cell. The

Political Influence In Elections
As indicated in Figure 1, there has been a strong increase in swing voters in UK general elections,
particularly since 2001. When considered in the context of valence issues, this could suggest that
since an increasing number of voters are likely to choose a different party from one election to
another, it is possible that an increasing number of voters are likely to be influenced by the valence
model of voting, that is, considering the competency of the different parties on the issues that are
important to them. This would then imply that issues are having an increasingly large amount of
influence on the way people vote, possibly to the extent that they have become more influential
than social class.

(BBC 2017) It is therefore very possible that a large number of people who voted UKIP in the 2015
election chose to vote this way simply because the issue of EU integration was important to them
and so chose to vote for a different party in the 2017 election because the other major parties now
covered this issue, as shown in Figure 3.
Figure 3 How those who voted UKIP in 2015 voted in 2010 and how they planned to vote in 2017
Source: Curtis, C. (2017).
If we take the voting intentions displayed in Figure 3 to be a correct indication of how voters
actually behaved at the polling stations, then it would be fair to say that around 64% of people
who voted UKIP in 2015 voted for a different party in 2017, with 37% of these former UKIP
voters choosing to vote for the Conservatives, possibly due to Theresa May s recent promises for
a hard Brexit . (The Guardian 2017). This would then imply that many voters are willing to
choose a party based on their stance on a particular issue even if this means selecting a party that
is not necessarily associated with one s social class, as shown in Figure 3 by the fact that former
Labour voters, after voting UKIP in 2015, chose to vote Conservative in 2017. If class

A Social Media Marketing Plan
Marketing has evolved and grown tremendously throughout the years. If you have a Facebook or
instagram page you have seen some sort of marketing promotion or ad that a local business is
offering to draw in customers or a following. For instance Z Burger, a burger joint in the DC area
offered a promotion that went viral through Facebook offering $2 burgers and $4 veggie burgers
for the entire day of last Tuesday at their Columbia Heights location. I attended myself thinking it
was going to be ridiculously crowded but I beat the rush and the staff created a system that

To launch social media marketing campaigns, all businesses need to do is sign up for free with each
social network they want to use. Once registered, businesses can create individual profiles for their
business and start posting content, such as industry trends, company news and promotional
information right away. This phenomenon has only developed within the last decade, thus social
media research has largely focused on (1) defining what it is through the explanation of new
terminology and concepts that makeup its foundations, and (2) exploring the impact of a company
s integration of social media on consumer behavior. This paper begins with an explanation of
terminology that defines social media marketing, followed by a discussion of the four main themes
found within current research studies: Virtual Brand Communities, Consumers Attitudes and
Motives, User Generated Content, and Viral Advertising.
Although social media marketing is a well researched topic, it has only been studied through
experimental and theoretical research; studies never precisely describe the benefits retailers gain
from this marketing tactic. In reviewing the rich plethora of multi disciplinary literature, it is has
become clear that studies are focusing on describing what social media marketing is as well as
examining what factors affect consumer behavior relative to social networking. Despite the initial
progress made by researchers, development in this area of

The Outsider, by Albert Camus and The Assault, by Harry...
Camus and Mulisch present that the past and present are interrelated. The authors do this through
the two characters, Meursault and Anton. Through Meursault, we see that his past actions affect the
outcome of his trial. Through Anton, we see that his present situation constantly brings him back to
his pastdespite him trying to escape it. Thus the authors stylistically link the past and presentto
demonstrate that they are inevitably related, where certain events are unavoidable or the past is
undeniable.
In The Outsider , the society continually brings back Meursault s past actions against his will, such
as his behaviour at his mother s funeral. Under the rule of the French Colonialists, the French

Despite this, the society tries to fabricate or impose rational explanations of Meursault s irrational
action. This is evident during the trial process when the prosecutor rationally explains for Meursault
the series of event that happened, although Meursault himself does not have a solid explanation for
his actions. The prosecutor explains it so well, that even Meursault himself finds it quite plausible .
Anton s past is brought back to him in a different way than Meursault. When Anton meets Cor Takes
he starts repainting the picture of the tragic night. It was fate that brought Takes to Anton, allowing
him to overhear Takes. This brought Anton s past back to the present by discovering the motives of

Gun Control Mechanism
Introduction
In America, one of the major challenges for security agencies is to have Gun control. Several
innocent people s lives have been taken by this weapon and led to great moaning in the U.S.
Likewise, different people have been left immobilized due to increase gun violence crime. In the
United States, these types of challenge are arising because of issuing providing possession of
unlicensed guns. For the aim of reducing crime rates due to gun, governments must make strict
balance on gun distribution, as well as illegalize its ownership without any exception to any
conditions (DeConde, 2003).
Therefore, gun violence is explained as the utilization of firearms to produce harm. Moreover, this
term signifies the general guns misuse, so broadly, it can be described as a violence and crime
class committed with the help of firearms which might not cover self defense actions, practices for
law enforcement, sports along with hunting others (DeConde, 2003).
Further includes careful use of weapons to murder, produce injury or threaten people. Among
children and adolescents, it is common who wind up providing trouble to them along with the
public. The positioning of this paper is Gun control.
Mechanisms for Implementing Gun Control
Many ways are now available for the implementation of the gun control. Getting it from the
legislation and experience of U.K, gun control must be the only government duty in addition to
private security organizations. In the U.S., it is

Review Of Edwin Morgen s Poem The Aspect Of Life
The Aspect of Life
Trio is a poem written by Edwin Morgen which portrays the aspect of life. It s a story of three
friends walking down Buchannan Street during Christmas time and they are enjoying the happiness
of Christmas with the cuteness of a baby, the laughter of jokes being told in the company they are
in, the special time of Christmas and the togetherness of the cold time of year all playing a part in
Edwin Morgan s fantastic poem.
Firstly the author uses the aspect of life to show how the cuteness of the baby brought smiles to
everyone s faces. The author uses the metaphor melting baby to get across how cute the baby
was. The baby was quite clearly not melting on this cold winters night, in fact the babies face
melted your heart to look at. The wee babies laughter and smiles were contagious, it filled the
crowd of three with happiness and joy. This description fills the readers mind with an image of the
babies face warming people s hearts on that cold winters night.
Correspondingly, Edwin Morgan uses aspects of life to show how laughter is a protection and a
need in life. Morgan uses the simile laughter ringing them round like a guard . This shows that
laughter and joy will protect you from the sad and depressing thoughts in your mind. That
happiness will act as a barrier from all the bad in the world and for even a split second ... Show

Importance Of Tattoos In The Workplace
Once viewed as taboo, it is not uncommon in today s society to see people with tattoos. From
symbolic to decorative, tattoos have infiltrated the culture and have become normalized
amongst commoners. Tattoos are no longer how people remember as a kid where they stick on
and last for a while, and there is a lot of thought and value that go into it yet alone the pain aspect.
With that being said why would one want to get a tattoo just to be told it doesn t meet the
requirement of the work field and they most cover it up? When people get new cars and
decorate them or even anything that holds value to them, they embrace and boost it so that
others can see what they take such pride in and embrace it as well; tattoos are the same way. In
recent times, the debate has been whether tattoos are appropriate for the workplace and if so, to
what extent. I feel as if tattoos should never hold any negative connotation to any desired
workplace as they do not deter away from the tools and performance skills one has to offer to a
company. When asking employers about how they feel about the appearance of tattoos, many will
reply with adjectives such as unprofessional, unethical, and improper but what they fail to realize
is that professionalism lies in the treatment of people, not the appearance of one s skin. Business
will often lose clients due to the lack of customer service skill. The quality of the employee is what
increases the productivity and development of a company. Contrary to

Talk Therapy For Depression Or Bipolar Disorder ( Manic...
Psychotherapy (also known as talk therapy) can be an important part of treatment for depression or
bipolar disorder (manic depression). A good therapist can help you cope with feelings and
symptoms, and change behavior patterns that may contribute to your illness.
Talk therapy is not just talking about your problems ; it is also working toward solutions. Some
therapy may involve homework, such as tracking your moods, writing about your thoughts, or
participating in social activities that have caused anxiety in the past. You might be encouraged to
look at things in a different way or learn new ways to react to events or people.
Most of today s psychotherapy is brief and focused on your current thoughts, feelings and life
issues. Focusing on the past can help explain things in your life, but focusing on the present can
help you cope with the present and prepare for the future. You might see your therapist more often
at the beginning of treatment, and later, as you learn to manage problems and avoid triggers, you
might go to psychotherapy appointments less often.
Psychotherapy can help you: Understand your illness; define and reach wellness goals; overcome
fears or insecurities; cope with stress; make sense of past traumatic experiences; separate your true
personality from the mood swings caused by your illness; identify triggers that may worsen your
symptoms; improve relationships with family and friends; establish a stable, dependable routine;

Ticking Tension and Silent Screams: Examining Sound in We Need To Talk About Kevin In
director Lynne Ramsay s We Need To Talk About Kevin (2011), dialogue serves as just one of
many modes of sound used to guide the narrative. Through a series of flashbacks and flash
forwards, orchestrated by diegetic and non diegetic sounds, the film follows Eva Khatchadourian
(Tilda Swinton), mother of baby Kevin (Ricky Duer) and, later, teenage Kevin (Ezra Miller), as
she recalls the influential events leading up to and the aftermath of Kevin murdering his peers and
family with his bow and arrow. While this gruesome film actually displays little violence on the
screen, the properties of sound create the horror and trepidation experienced by the audience.
Perceptual properties of sound, including loudness and timbre, internal diegetic sounds, Eva s
thoughts and sonic flashbacks, and the use of silence when viewing interactions between Eva and
Kevin, shape the audience s understanding of the film. The film employs on screen and off screen
diegetic sounds such as screaming, crying, and ticking and highlights objects/sounds which act as
motifs. Additionally, non diegetic sound created through the soundtrack lends a sense of irony to
different scenarios. While visuals and audio work together to create the film, sounds in particular
shape the spectator s perspective while allowing opportunities for further interpretation. In the

Social Construction Of Gender By Lorber
Although still problematic, gender roles constructed by society and cultures have progressed
throughout the years, not as much as hoped but in small ways. The social and cultural construction
of gender in definition means the construction of gender roles created by others that determine their
behaviors and develop standards based on their sex. In the article Social Construction of Genderby
Lorber the author demonstrates the social and cultural construction of gender stating, Yet in
Western societies, we see two discrete sexes and two distinguishable genders because our society
is built on two classes of people, women and men . Once the gender category is given the
attributes of the person are also gendered.... (Lorber, 11). In the poem... Show more content on

It could be seen in many perspectives how the social and cultural construction of gender are
being developed. Women and men are often being told what they should or shouldn t do. Being
molded into something society wants and favors. It s all developed through interactions with the
media, in school, with family, whether it s direct or not, it creates a huge impact on women. In
the reading, it states For men in Western societies, physical competence is an important marker
of masculinity (Lorber, 12 ). This goes to show how in different cultural settings there are
expectations that mark the gender you identify with. Culture makes a huge impact on the way a
person looks or speaks. Being a strong person could be known as attractive in a certain era or
area of the world, however, being extremely pale could be an attractive feature to have. This
process interestingly affects the person and makes them do exactly what society wants them to do.
Whether it s an unconscious or a conscious decision. Piercy, although, uses the actions of the tree
being cut and shaped into what the gardener in the story wants it to be. She demonstrates a perfect
example of how women could easily be shaped and

Clearwater Seafoods Essays
Introduction:
Clearwater Seafoods (CS) is a seafood exporting firm based in Canada. The firm is suffering value
declining from international trade due to the appreciation of Canadian dollars. Hence, the company
s value declined for 35% that fails to distribute dividends under income trust since 2002. The
company has to hold a conference for shareholders to establish an appropriate strategy to address
the value declining problem and change its unit holder s pessimistic shareholding sentiment.
This report will initially identify the root of foreign exchange risk that Clearwater Seafoods is
encountering. After then, it will also discuss about the business risks that the firm needs to
overcome. Further, we will try to find out relevant ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to CS s case, the firm s strategy includes three aspects to be completive with peer firms.
The first is innovation which is to attain substantial resource base through applying edged
technologies. The second is control totally on the value chain for the sake of cost efficiency and
goods quality assurance. The third concerned with diversity, this is to creating hedges among
products classes and market regions. This strategy sounds quite all round but there is an issue that
it needs relatively large amount of funds each year to attain it. As the technology require a high
level of funds to support its technical research group and advanced equipment like new vessels and
processing plants. It also needs fund to hire management expertise to monitor and manage on the
firm s value chain. And to dig new produce species and new market worldwide also needs vast
funds. Therefore, CS needs to make sure it has sufficient funds yearly to attain its current strategy.
Moreover CS will be unable to attain higher revenue if the firm over diversified its product and
trading markets in hedging purpose. As the Canadian government controls severely on the seafood
producing industry that limited each firm s ability of seafood manufacturing (known as total
allowable catch (TAC)). CS has to keep its product species diversification by acquiring other peer
firms

Banning Capital Punishment in the United States Essay
Banning the use of capital punishment in the United States
Capital punishment (the death penalty) is a legal procedure which is known as the most severe
punishment where the law authorizes execution as a punishment for criminals (Gerald, 2008).
Many people claim that allowing such a punishment will help decrease the crime rate, and also give
closure to the victim s family, but if you as American citizens analyze this situation in more detail
you can see that taking a life for taking a life is more of a personal matter than justice. When
comparing the states that allow capital punishment with the states that have abolished it, the crime
rate does not differ. Hence, those who argue that death row has a positive effect on making criminals

2008 murder rate in death penalty states was 41% higher than the non death penalty states, 2009 the
murder rate was 35% higher than the non death penalty states (Cooper, 2011). As you can see
capital punishment had no influence on preventing criminals from doing illegal acts. Therefore, all
of the work and energy that goes into executing a criminal in the name of justice is illogical and
ineffective.
It is argued that most people who support capital punishment are the families of the victims. In
their eyes execution is revenge, but how can you trust a system that is not always correct?
Would taking a life of another stop criminals and lower the crime rate, or would it bring the
victims back to life? In most cases the answer is no. Moreover, it appears that the legal system is
not always accurate, and that innocent people have been executed and convicted. Over 142 men
and women have been discharged from the death row over the past 40 years. Also in the past four
years evidence has come up that some men have been mistakenly executed for crimes they did not
commit. (Love, 2013) After learning about these mistakes that the law has made and continues to
make, it is petrifying to know that the majority of people are blinded by sorrow and justice, that
they exclude the truth and facts from their knowledge. If they were to take into consideration its
inaccuracy shown many times over, they would agree on suspending the use of the death penalty as
a punishment for

Analysis Of Live And Let Live By Evelyn Perry
In Evelyn Perry s Live and Let Live, she addresses some of the many concerns in under privileged
communities that are facing gentrification today. As I was reading this novel, the term
gentrification certainly became defined. Evelyn Perry presented a new way of thinking and
understanding when it comes to diverse, low income, integrated neighborhoods and how to simply
not judge a book by its cover. Anthropologists make a substantial difference in the world today.
How they use specific methods and researchto help better understand groups of people that are
different from themselves. Not all Anthropologists travel to different parts of the country or across
the world to study different cultures or groups of people, but some also are involved in the business
world, corporate organizations, different sectors of government, and even the medical and political
fields. Anthropologyis used in various ways of daily life, even though we don t realize it. In the
book Live and Let Live, one of the main research methods that was used, in my opinion, was
participant observation. By definition, participant observation is a research method in which the
researcher not only observes the participants, (in Evelyn Perry s case, the participants were
basically the whole community of Riverwest) but also engage in the same activities. As an
example, Evelyn Perry attended a few festivals during her time in Riverwest. She attended Center
Street Daze, in which she described as a more local little

Comparing Casey At The Bat And David And Goliath
In the poems Casey at the Bat and David and Goliath there are many similarities. The first one is
that they are both undoubtedly confident. For example, in Casey at the Bat Casey is up to hit
and if he gets a home run, he will win the game for his team. So, when he is up to bat, he
purposely misses and says, That ain t my style. He does this because he just knows that he will
get a home run. In David and Goliath, David goes up to Goliath and says, I ll knock you down
and cut off your head, and I ll feed the bodies of the other Philistine soldiers to the birds and wild
animals. Then the whole world will know that Israel has a real God. This shows that David was self
assured that he was going to kill Goliath. Another similarity is... Show more content on

For example, Casey was unsuccessful in the end while David was very successful. In Casey at
the Bat , it says, But there is no joy in Mudville mighty Casey has struck out, because Casey was
so cocky, he failed his team and was unsuccessful. In David and Goliath it says, David took
Goliath s head to Jerusalem, but he kept Goliath s weapons in his own tent. So, in the end, David
killed Goliath and was very successful. Another difference is that Casey had practice being a
baseball player while David had never fought a person before Goliath. For example, Ten
thousand eyes were on him as he rubbed his hands with dirt; Five thousand tongues applauded
when he wiped them on his shirt. Casey was obviously a well known and respected person
because his fans had seen him play before and knew he was good. In verse thirty four, David
says, Your Majesty, I take care of my father s sheep. And when one of them is dragged off by a
lion or a bear, 35 I go after it and beat the wild animal until it lets the sheep go. If the wild animal
turns and attacks me, I grab it by the throat and kill it. David had only killed animals, not people.
Killing people is going to be more of a challenge than killing animals. The last difference is that
everyone was proud of David, but disappointed in Casey. In verse fifty five, it says, After King
Saul had watched David go out to fight Goliath, Saul turned to the commander of his army and
said, Abner, who is that young man? Your Majesty, Abner answered, I swear by your life that I
don t know. Then find out! Saul told him. This shows that even the king was proud of him along
with the other Israelites. In the poem Casey at the Bat the author states, ...But there is no joy in
Mudville... This means that everyone was disappointed and there was no joy because Casey struck
out. In conclusion, the story characters David from David and Goliath and Casey from

A New Way Of Distributed Or Cloud Computing
The very way of distributed or cloud computing is such that it enables organisations to influence
manpower, all the more rapidly and according to organisation needs. This is on the grounds that
distributed computing helps in distributing workloads across the organisation and can be
remotely accessed by end clients, regardless of their location. Organisations could even hire a
worldwide and, maybe, less expensive workforce when they use distributed computing.
Additionally, resources and staff can be immediately scaled up or down as indicated by the pace
of interest. This gives organisations a competitive edge wherein they can rapidly meet the
requests and expectations of their clients. We took a hybrid approach to migration and selected
different vendors and solutions for each business function, Bob Shirilla, Owner of Simply
Custom Bags. This allowed us to evaluate each solution based on the specific value it provides to
our business. For example, we selected an order management system that was already PCI
compliant. 4.3Disaster Recovery Files on individual laptops and desktops are susceptible to
security breaks that can antagonistically affect business. Break ins and thefts of individual
machines by hackers are very hazardous. The same sensitive data on the cloud is significantly more
protected and available from any location. Frequently the cloud suppliers have different backups for
the data. Most third party cloud encrypt information for improved security.

The Zone Diet And Protein Analysis
Earlier we learned that water is the main chemical in our bodies. Coming in number two is protein.
The word protein actually means first substance due to the fact that the first food fuel we ever
consumed was our mother s milk. Milk is the only food specifically designed to sustain mammalian
life and therefore human life. Milk has two proteingroups:
Whey which is the complete protein that makes milk so essential to life and;
Casein which is used for manufacturing cheese and other milk by products.
One of the problems you can have in understanding protein is that there is so much information out
there on protein, most of it contradictory, most of it wrong. It s time that you had the truth about
protein; just the facts and nothing but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
2. Single Free Form Amino Acids
Single free form amino acids are manufactured through fermentation by microorganisms in large
biological chambers. These can be manufactured as pharmaceutical grade pure injectables or as
food grade products. As food products, amino acids they are very costly, taste terrible, have poor
mixability, high digestive irritability and are absorbed relatively slowly.
3. Soy Protein
As scientists we find it particularly vexing that there is so much information being peddled by
marketing companies regarding soy protein being the best source of protein for women. This is
due to the fact that soy is a BIG business in the US. And soy manufacturers actually have lobbyists
on the payroll helping to create the big lie. There is no other way to state the facts other than to
say that calling soy the best, most complete protein for women is totally inaccurate as it is missing
a highly critical amino acid, methionine. Facts are facts and there is no way to dispute this

The Movie Water Essay
Water the Movie by Deepa Mehta The movie Called Water was a piece of history for me on how
the other side of the world lives. The way the young girls were married off at a young age just
makes me feel sick. They were treated as they were the untouchables. The movie is revolved
around the widows and how they live their lives at the bottom of the Cast system. Capturing the
struggles and horrid conditions, That the widows in India faced. During the time where
widowed women were treated as trash. The women were sent to an ashram, and forced to obey
to the traditional rules no matter if the laws were in their favor. A widow was not supposed to get
married again, wear other colors besides white, grow their hair long. The fact that the widows
were hopeless, treated like an Untouchable was sad and I think they should be treated as equals.

One of the most prominent reasons behind the widespread acceptance of the Annie Hall movie
is its difference in the cultural movements that the movie represents. As the pop culture is
getting famous in the 1970, there are also some other cultural changes that are happening
because of these factors. Both of the characters are seeing therapists, doing drugs, wandering off
in the city serious and have concerns about their future. It is a cultural shock to the audience as
it is presented for the first time in any 1970 movie. Moreover, the movie also presents some
cultural movements, as the disbelief and paranoia of Alvy originates because of the unstable
political government at that time. Therefore, he also participates in a protest to make fun of the
Eisenhower. Moreover, the movie also presents some of the effects of the World War II.
Furthermore, Alvy has difficulties in adjusting to the superficial culture of Los Angeles. He is
always attached to the culture of New York because it is his home as well as the favorite place.
On the other hand, the city of Los Angeles is empty from glamor, and he never feels comfortable
in Los Angeles. Therefore, when Annie moves from New York to Los Angeles, Alvy sees it as the

Cultural Dimensions And Its Impact On The Corporate World
Cultural differences and dimensions are very important when it comes to the corporate world.
There have been numerous studies done on individual differences that are seeking out to identify
the reasons why people behave in which the way they do. In the United States, it is important to
understand each dimensionand which cultural dimension we focus on most. In this paper, the five
cultural dimensions and how they are implemented in the corporate world will be discussed. Culture
is defined as, The learned, shared way of doing things in a particular society (Uhl Bien,
Schermerhorn, Osborne, 2014, p.44). As referred by Geert Hofstede, culture is the, software of the
mind . Hofstede is referring to our minds as, hardware since it is universal to all humans.
However, the, software of culture varies from each one with many differences. We were born into a
society that teaches you culture rather than being born into it. Since we learn from a very young
age about culture this helps up to distinguish boundaries between different groups of people. In
each culture there are a set of values and these are important when dealing with organizational
behavior. Uhl Bien, Schermerhorn, Osborne (2014) state that the way in which people think about
work, risk, wealth, achievement, and gain may influence their approach to work and relationships
(p.44). There is a term known as cultural quotient which describes how someone is able to work
effectively across cultures

Inevitable Fate In Oedipus The King
Inevitable Fate
Oedipus The King by Sophocles is a story of great tragedy. Oedipus lived in Corinth with his
adoptive father. He hears of a prophecy that threatened his family and decides to leave Corinth to
defy his fate. Oedipus biological parents also heard the same Prophecy and sent Oedipus to be killed
when he was just a baby. The Servant responsible for the task could not kill Oedipus, so he left
him in the mountains to be found. Oedipus then unknowingly found his way into the kingdom of
Thebes where his biological parents ruled. Oedipus became king after saving Thebes from a sphinx
by completing its riddle.
He is called upon again when the kingdom is hit by a plague and is ravished by hunger. While
trying to save his kingdom it is discovered that Oedipus prophecy had come true. He had
unknowingly killed his father and laid with his mother Jocasta the Queen of Thebes. The news of
the prophecy being fulfilled sends Oedipus and Jocasta into a feverish hysteria. Jocasta runs to
her room and hangs herself after the news. Oedipus, looking for Jocasta finds her dead body and
is in such shock that he takes his own eyes. Oedipus then saves his kingdom by being banished and
lifting the curse off Thebes.
Oedipus The King is full of instances that would portray both the free will and fate of Oedipus. All
the choices he makes throughout the play are his own, but the prophecy he aims to avoid still
becomes his reality. While reading the play, the illusion that Oedipus was

  • 2. A View of Christ Through “Goblin Market” Essay example Many authors add personal beliefs and feelings to their literature in order to add depth and allow the reader to understand them in a more intimate way. Christina Rossetti was no different. She added her religious beliefs. Her beliefs were an important piece of her life. Christina Rossetti s poem Goblin Market is an autobiographical view that represents her religious beliefs. She added her religious views to her work in order to strengthen her poem and to allow her reader to understand her. Her beliefs come from a shared religious experience with her mother. These religious experiences stem from Judeo Christian origins. Looking at the past of Rossetti with an analytical view of her poem will help to fully understand the depth at which... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Her religious beliefs were a huge building block in her life decisions; this also included her writing choices. The strong amount of Christian symbolism and imagery Rossetti uses throughout the poem Goblin Market were no accident, they were merely a way for her to express her Angelic Christian beliefs. There are many messages that can be taken from this poem, depending on the point of view of the reader. The main underlying message that should be taken from this poem by all is one that Dooley talks about in her analysis: One underlying message of Goblin Market is that the world is full of temptations, both sexual and pleasurable, from which women must be saved through God s grace. Reading the poem for just the words on the page the reappearing theme of temptation is prevalent. When Rossetti describes the first appearance of the Goblins the sense of temptation understood: No, said Lizzie, no, no, no; Their offers should not charm us, Their evil gifts would harm us (64 66). Rossetti provides the proof that the offers of the Goblins are evil. The proof Rossetti has given is based on the assumption that there is a sense of honesty and purity in Lizzie. She chose the word harm because it gives the reader the image of physical pain. Physical pain is not evil in and of itself but being a possible side effect of the gifts and the purposeful intention makes the gift evil. The caution given to Laura does not convince her to stay away from the offers: ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Personal Statement On Personal And Social Holiness In my last, in process paper I discussed how my pursuit of personal and social holiness developed my calling in ministry. As I reflect on the journey of discovering my call to ministry, I cannot help but to reflect on the mountaintops and valleys the Lord I have walked. It is refreshing and convicting at the same time as I read through the texts for this module, knowing that the Holy Spirit is at work refining me more like Christ, and also affirming the choices and decisions I have made to be where I am today. As you read through this paper my hope is that one will see my personal/social victories and failures, and how God has been at work molding me like a potter. I grew up in a Christian home, or at least a partial Christian home. I say that because my mom had me in church every Sunday, but my dad really did not take part in it unless it was Christmas or Easter. I mention this, because it was in that partial Christian home, where I was first exposed to pornography. As I reflected on the content of this module, my journey of overcoming temptations, and being forgiven for poor decisions strikes a chord as I reflect on the process of integrity, and part of that journey has been filled with the pollution of porn. Author Headley, describes Grace not so evident in its arrival, but transforming in power (Headley, 180). This description resonates with me as I found myself in sin many times, and the transforming power of grace seemed to always sneak up when I least suspected it. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Roman Public Baths The Government had many ways to provide public services to the community, they had many different things to offer the patricians and plebeians. First off the Government provided roads. Roads helped the Romans move armies, trade goods and communicate. The Romans became adept at constructing roads. The laws of the Twelve Tables insist that the roads be 8 ft wide and 16 ft long. The Government also provided Public Baths. Roman baths were apart of the day to day life in Ancient Rome. Romans had led via pipes witch had running waiter but they were taxed according to the size of the pipe(s). A large complex sometimes had a gym and a swimming pool. When you re building a Public Bath you have to have good engineering skills because you have to heat the water. Public bath complexes even had a Massagers who would massage you with olive oil. I rated this part of Rome a A+, they found ways to provide different types of public things and those things all supported the citizens in Rome. Citations For roads Crystalinks.com. (2018). • 5. Classic Is A Classic Essay Mark Twain, a renowned eighteenth century writer, once said that a classic is something everyone wants to have read yet no one wants read; those words have never been more true today. Most novels that are considered classics, especially during their time of release, seem to have a universal theme of not receiving positive recognition. However, as time went on, people found themselves developing a taste for such heart tugging tales. Classical novels, because of the language in which they were written, contain ideas and build skill sets like no other noveltoday;due to, the originality and uniqueness of the plot, eternal truths and unrealistic themes, and benefits gained from reading them. A novel is not dubbed a classic simply based on the number of printings it has undergone or the languages it has been translated into. Nor is it called a classic because some ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Coincidentally, much of the plot tends to come from personal experiences the authors themselves have faced. For example, in Jane Austen s Pride and Prejudice, the character Mr. Darcy was based on Austen s own ill fated love. If a classical novel could have been written twice, then it would have no chance of withstanding the tests of time. One would eventually overshadow the other. All classics share the accomplishment of overcoming the obstacles that come with an ever changing world. The works of Bronte, Austen, Hardy, Tolstoy, and Wilde are all classics; however, not one is the same as the other. Despite those who have tried to recreate them with nonsensical parodies, The classics are classics because they are foolproof. Plagiarism enhances them.... A classic, therefore, sustains its impact over time, regardless of the ways in which it is or might be adapted. The uniqueness of most classical novels come from the fact that centuries after their publication, they have yet to finish what they were saying; however, modern novels cannot say it for ... • 6. Emily Dickinson And Death The Death in Emily Dickinson Like many poets, Emily Dickinson explored the themes of death, leading to the answers of so many questions, in which she was concerned herself. Her poetry frequently clarifies her reaction as to why she wrote about death. However, her treatment of death is unique: Because I could not stop for DeathHe kindly stopped for me (577). Dickinson expresses herself being able to accept death as an old friend rather than a force of nature. With many of her poems, Dickinson elaborates and questions death being incorporated in daily lives as well as the mysterious life leading after it. Among the understanding of her views of death, numerous people become frightened as if it were some creature prowling behind something ready to take them at any second. Death has been stated frequently throughout her poems, each one composed of frustration, suffering, pain, sorrow, grief, and loneliness. Death is a common theme in her writing. The obsession Dickinson made of death of darkness, Or rather He passed Us The Dews drew quivering and chill (577). She describes death from all imaginable characteristics as the polite lover, the physical corruptor, and the alarming killer. Dickinson s views on immortality were a problem that was accepted as... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Death is a lurking event that is shadowing everyone, but Dickinson sees it as an opportunity to deal with it. I believe that death is going to happen at any moment, but find it unsettling to be able to talk about death as if it would happen shortly. I think Dickinson is impractical to believe that death is just an entity to love; rather it should be something to fear of. She may agree on the fact that death is a gruesome conclusion, but I feel that we shouldn t just acknowledge it to occur, rather wait for the outcome ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. The Presence Of Social Pressure And Stop Playing With Toys The presence of social pressure to stop playing with toys featured most commonly among the participants. They all specifically mentioned some form of conformity to social norms of growing up (e.g., R27, 151 152; R33, 238 241; R46, 158 160; R51, 302 304; R57, 108 111; R59, 144 146). They provided examples of alternative activities that were considered acceptable for adults, such as hanging out with friends (e.g., R27, 103 104; R59, 72 73), and electronic games (e.g., R46, 158 160; R59, 79 80). The pressure that participants felt to move on from playing with toys appeared to emerge either internally, stemming from self identification as grown up (e.g., R33, 121 123; R46, 254 255; R51, 79; R59, 55) or externally, through observation and imitation of peer behaviour (e.g., R46, 124 126; R59, 144 146) In a few instances, participants mentioned being explicitly told by peers that playing with toys was no longer acceptable (e.g., R27, 188 190; R57, 108 111; R59, 71 72), although parents were rarely cited as a source of pressure (e.g., R57, 114 115; R59, 140 143). Participants with siblings highlighted the impact of these siblings on their cessation of play with toys. Interestingly, participants with younger siblings tended to cite an internal process of social pressure, where they were driven by a personal desire to appear older: R27: ... you get to an age where if your sisters are playing with them and they are younger, you don t really want to play the same things as ... • 8. The Theme Of Absurdism In The Stranger By Albert Camus Arul P Saravanan Ball World Lit/ Writ 27 November, 2017 Too Hot For You Albert Camus wrote The Stranger to express absurdism within society by having Meursault, the main character, suffers many ordeals without showing any signs of pain or emotional suffering. He is affected by his mother s death at the beginning of the story. The whole mood, sadness, and isolation is the fuel to Meursault s behavior, his hunger, and his emotions. Meursault blames the sun for everything. The sun symbolizes his society and how society has more expectations of him than others. In The Stranger, Camus incorporates the sun to symbolize inability to cope with his emotions that stem from his failure to meet society s expectations. Camus shows many non physical aspects to express many emotions that drives Meursault through everyday tasks. Similar to the sun, society is generally thought to be a positive figure. People usually regard a good strong society that firmly establishes its members with a strong, unified code of morals as something to be desired. These morals are what drives every single person each day through difficult and challenging tasks. Morals of a society are what makes it stand out. In the same way, people tend to think of a bright, warm, sunny day as something good and positive as in for a vacation or a time to relax. However, both the force of society and the force of the sun can become overpowering. When the sun becomes overpowering it beats down on the people, suffocating ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Top Reasons Why Branding Is Important Question One A: Using your own words, summarize the seven reasons why branding is important. 1.Strong Brands Protect the Consumer Brands have always served as sort of an emblem to consumers, that there would be a certain quality associated with that symbol. There are still many many popular brands today that are able to be distinguished but, brands are standing out among the rest by gaining a strong positive reputation which far exceeds the quality of there product. Brands ensure that they will provide consumers with a standard quality, and if they fail to do so their reputation is tarnished. Brands fight for our money ever day and try to stand out by focusing more on innovation to one up the competition. Brands also largely battle with price, which is a large part in the consumer decision. The brand and quality must be worth it otherwise customers will be lost to the competition. Brands protect their consumers simply because they provide an innovative product that differs from the competitions product. At the same time, they are ensuring that the quality is worth an appropriate price. This creates a strong and loyal customer base that will surely build the brand a positive reputation. 2.Strong Brands Drive Share Performance Powerful market performance has been proven to advance multiple components including the shareholders, the company itself, and pensions. • 10. The Romantic Periods In the Romantic period a war and a battle took place, the era learned ways to spice up production, the play Faust was created, and there were connections between the time period and the play itself. The first war that took place was the French Revolution. The French Revolution began in 1789 and lasted until 1799. There were three estates in France but one of the estates was not being treated fairly so they decided to rebel. Finally, a Constitution was made and everyone was happy. The battle of Valmy took place September 20, 1792. Two French armies had some issues between themselves so of course the only way to resolve the problems was to go to war. After a few days of fighting both sides decided to negotiate and eventually the fighting ceased. In all the trauma that the war and battle cause though Goethe was able to find inspiration to write his play called Faust . In order to understand Faust you had to understand the trauma inflicted on the play s author by the French Revolution. (Kolonie) In order to deal with wars that were occurring Goethe spilled his feelings into his writing. In the play Faust the Devil and God make a bet that the Devil cannot make God s most promising scholar turn against him. The man ends up selling his soul to the Devil but just when the Devil thought he won the bet angels came down to take the dead man s soul up to Heaven. • 11. Meeting Luisa At The Bank Although we were not meeting Luisa at the bank until 11:00 o clock, we arrived in Marsciano early the next morning to wander around town. From a nearly home owner s perspective, we looked at everything anew. Marsciano was going to be our home town in Italy, where we would shop, attend community events, the weekly market, dine in restaurants and make new friends. As we did with Johannes, we parked the car near the community elevator and took the lift up to the center of town. We nodded our heads to the locals and bid them Bouna giornata; a Good Day when our eyes met in passing. We window shopped at the boutiques on the Corso Umberto, surprised by the high quality merchandise for sale in such a humble village. Soon, we saw Luisa... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I asked Vince to paint each room before and acquire a bed, a table and some chairs during his visit in May so that when I arrived in September we had a place to sleep and the apartment was spic and span clean. It was already dark and raining gently when we arrived at the front door of B B Garibaldi in the early evening. Vince inserted the key into the front door lock, when much to his surprise, he felt the key snap in two as he turned it to unlock the door, leaving the stem in the keyhole. Oh great! David emphatically asked us not to ring the doorbell because his grandmother is always sleeping. Let s try knocking on the door or calling his name. I believe that s his balcony. Despite the opportunities along with China s WTO entry and opening up, doing business in China remains very challenging at the operational level for MNCs. Regulatory Risks Managing the regulatory environment remains a real issue for foreign firms operating in China. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These issues affect all companies, but present the most serious challenge to small foreign firms that are new to China and lack international and country specific experience. Larger firms are coming up with strategies to address these issues, if not resolve them. Regulatory Risks Overview During the last few years much of the economy has been deregulated, a process that was well under way before December 2001, the date of China s accession to the WTO. During the 1990s almost all of the former industrial ministries and state commissions were abolished, cutting the number of institutions and officials at the centre looking to be involved in business affairs. Some old school planning apparatchiks have no doubt survived but there are fewer options for them to slake their thirst for control. Many state owned enterprises have been sold off and a large proportion of those that remain have lost market share to private domestic firms and foreign invested enterprises (FIEs). China s thicket of regulations has been cut back and the rules that remain have gradually become more institutionalized. The picture that characterized much of the 1980s and 1990s everyone from multinational managers to Chinese officials groping their way forward, often making things up as they went along is no longer representative of the business environment. The Tasmanian Devil and the Visigoths are similar in personality and actions, desperate to reach their desires, and they both lack subtlety and depth in their language. Tasmanian Devil represents the personality and actions of a Visigoths. Visigoths are marauders ruthless and brutal. If something did not work out they will do anything wicked for their own advantage. The Tasmanian Devilalso resembles that through his actions. He is ferocious, short tempered and has an enormous appetite. He will go around scaring away all the forest animals and destroying their homes for food. The Tasmanian Devil represents Visigoths, they are both desperate to reach their desires. To a Visigoth, the quest for knowledge is useless unless it can help you earn or to gain power over other people. This is clear proof that Visigoths are blinded by their goal for only one thing, power. Overall, this could play a huge factor in their down fall because having more knowledge does not affect people negatively especially in the Dark Ages where knowledge was power. In his article, The Impact of Overbooking on Hotels Operation Management, Vladimir Sashov Zhechev notes some of the possible consequences that could result for overbooking when all of the guests do actually show up that had a reservation. For example, if a customer has made a reservation at a certain hotel and arrives there only to discover that their room has been given to another guest who also had a reservation, it is only logical that the guest is going to be quite irate. It is now the duty of the hotel to arrange for that customer to have alternate lodging accommodations, as well as provide transportation for them to get to their other destination (Zhechev et. al Ivanov 7). Buyer switching costs are low, and it is generally quite difficult for the players to differentiate themselves because, as a rule, the products players stock are purchased from the same manufacturers. Players therefore compete on service, and only very rarely on product. In the phone category, the biggest difference is in operating system (iOS, Android, Microsoft) pushing the supplying industry to make a phone with an operating system that is user friendly, or the buyer will look elsewhere. Buyer income also plays a role. Consumers with a low income are very sensitive to price changes and will often look around in great detail before deciding on a product. • 16. Power Of Education In The Great Gatsby October 5, 2014 For centuries, the world has favored those who are in possession of a higher intelligence. Historically, ruling classes were composed of educated nobles or trained workers, the few who had been able to receive an education. Education in developed countries is often included in the basic rights to which every human should have access. Its importance has been the focal point of countless movements, all petitioning for the opportunity of schooling for lower class citizens. The United States of America, though it has experienced significant changes in regards to the literacy of all citizens, did not do so without difficulty. The two most notable groups to fight for the right to equal education had to struggle for years to obtain their goals. African Americans had little to no rights until the Emancipation Proclamation in 1865, and even then, only males were allowed to read and write. Women did not begin attending college in equal numbers to men until as recently as 1980. The strong correlation between power and education makes possessing a sound education a valuable asset and highly sought after. Education s role in society is a prevalent theme throughout Scott F. Fitzgerald s The Great Gatsby. Tom s supremacy through education and wealth contrasts heavily with Gatsby s lack of knowledge, creating tension within the novel between the two opposing men. However, fast food has a high energy density and low nutrient profile that has led to a worldwide increase of waistline. Obesity is becoming one of the most prevalent nutritional diseases in developed countries. In the United States, adult body fat is measured using body mass index. Approximately 73 million adults have BMIs greater than or equal to 30, which diagnoses them as obese (Bell et al., 2011). This would then imply that issues are having an increasingly large amount of influence on the way people vote, possibly to the extent that they have become more influential than social class. Figure 3 How those who voted UKIP in 2015 voted in 2010 and how they planned to vote in 2017 Source: Curtis, C. (2017). It s a story of three friends walking down Buchannan Street during Christmas time and they are enjoying the happiness of Christmas with the cuteness of a baby, the laughter of jokes being told in the company they are in, the special time of Christmas and the togetherness of the cold time of year all playing a part in Edwin Morgan s fantastic poem. Firstly the author uses the aspect of life to show how the cuteness of the baby brought smiles to everyone s faces. The author uses the metaphor melting baby to get across how cute the baby was. The baby was quite clearly not melting on this cold winters night, in fact the babies face melted your heart to look at. The wee babies laughter and smiles were contagious, it filled the crowd of three with happiness and joy. This description fills the readers mind with an image of the babies face warming people s hearts on that cold winters night. Correspondingly, Edwin Morgan uses aspects of life to show how laughter is a protection and a need in life. Morgan uses the simile laughter ringing them round like a guard . This shows that laughter and joy will protect you from the sad and depressing thoughts in your mind. That happiness will act as a barrier from all the bad in the world and for even a split second ... • 36. Importance Of Tattoos In The Workplace Once viewed as taboo, it is not uncommon in today s society to see people with tattoos. From symbolic to decorative, tattoos have infiltrated the culture and have become normalized amongst commoners. Tattoos are no longer how people remember as a kid where they stick on and last for a while, and there is a lot of thought and value that go into it yet alone the pain aspect. With that being said why would one want to get a tattoo just to be told it doesn t meet the requirement of the work field and they most cover it up? When people get new cars and decorate them or even anything that holds value to them, they embrace and boost it so that others can see what they take such pride in and embrace it as well; tattoos are the same way. In recent times, the debate has been whether tattoos are appropriate for the workplace and if so, to what extent. I feel as if tattoos should never hold any negative connotation to any desired workplace as they do not deter away from the tools and performance skills one has to offer to a company. When asking employers about how they feel about the appearance of tattoos, many will reply with adjectives such as unprofessional, unethical, and improper but what they fail to realize is that professionalism lies in the treatment of people, not the appearance of one s skin. Business will often lose clients due to the lack of customer service skill. The quality of the employee is what increases the productivity and development of a company. Contrary to ... • 37. Talk Therapy For Depression Or Bipolar Disorder ( Manic... Psychotherapy (also known as talk therapy) can be an important part of treatment for depression or bipolar disorder (manic depression). A good therapist can help you cope with feelings and symptoms, and change behavior patterns that may contribute to your illness. Talk therapy is not just talking about your problems ; it is also working toward solutions. Some therapy may involve homework, such as tracking your moods, writing about your thoughts, or participating in social activities that have caused anxiety in the past. You might be encouraged to look at things in a different way or learn new ways to react to events or people. Most of today s psychotherapy is brief and focused on your current thoughts, feelings and life issues. Focusing on the past can help explain things in your life, but focusing on the present can help you cope with the present and prepare for the future. You might see your therapist more often at the beginning of treatment, and later, as you learn to manage problems and avoid triggers, you might go to psychotherapy appointments less often. Psychotherapy can help you: Understand your illness; define and reach wellness goals; overcome fears or insecurities; cope with stress; make sense of past traumatic experiences; separate your true personality from the mood swings caused by your illness; identify triggers that may worsen your symptoms; improve relationships with family and friends; establish a stable, dependable routine; develop a plan for ... Ticking Tension And Silent Screams Sara Frank Dr. Schreiber Film 270 23 October 2016 Ticking Tension and Silent Screams: Examining Sound in We Need To Talk About Kevin In director Lynne Ramsay s We Need To Talk About Kevin (2011), dialogue serves as just one of many modes of sound used to guide the narrative. Through a series of flashbacks and flash forwards, orchestrated by diegetic and non diegetic sounds, the film follows Eva Khatchadourian (Tilda Swinton), mother of baby Kevin (Ricky Duer) and, later, teenage Kevin (Ezra Miller), as she recalls the influential events leading up to and the aftermath of Kevin murdering his peers and family with his bow and arrow. While this gruesome film actually displays little violence on the screen, the properties of sound create the horror and trepidation experienced by the audience. Perceptual properties of sound, including loudness and timbre, internal diegetic sounds, Eva s thoughts and sonic flashbacks, and the use of silence when viewing interactions between Eva and Kevin, shape the audience s understanding of the film. The film employs on screen and off screen diegetic sounds such as screaming, crying, and ticking and highlights objects/sounds which act as motifs. Additionally, non diegetic sound created through the soundtrack lends a sense of irony to different scenarios. While visuals and audio work together to create the film, sounds in particular shape the spectator s perspective while allowing opportunities for further interpretation. In the opening ... Banning Capital Punishment in the United States Essay Banning the use of capital punishment in the United States Capital punishment (the death penalty) is a legal procedure which is known as the most severe punishment where the law authorizes execution as a punishment for criminals (Gerald, 2008). Many people claim that allowing such a punishment will help decrease the crime rate, and also give closure to the victim s family, but if you as American citizens analyze this situation in more detail you can see that taking a life for taking a life is more of a personal matter than justice. As you can see capital punishment had no influence on preventing criminals from doing illegal acts. Therefore, all of the work and energy that goes into executing a criminal in the name of justice is illogical and ineffective. It is argued that most people who support capital punishment are the families of the victims. In their eyes execution is revenge, but how can you trust a system that is not always correct? Would taking a life of another stop criminals and lower the crime rate, or would it bring the victims back to life? In most cases the answer is no. Moreover, it appears that the legal system is not always accurate, and that innocent people have been executed and convicted. Over 142 men and women have been discharged from the death row over the past 40 years. Also in the past four years evidence has come up that some men have been mistakenly executed for crimes they did not commit.
