This document provides an overview of open educational resources (OER) and how to find them. The objectives are to describe OER, discuss why instructors might use them, select relevant OER from repositories, and identify upcoming OER opportunities. OER include open courses, textbooks, course materials and assessments. They increase access and flexibility, allow customization, and enable easy updating. Faculty commonly use OER for ideas, to supplement courses, and prepare teaching. Recommended repositories include BC Open Textbooks, OpenStax, Merlot and OER Commons. Upcoming OER events will also be highlighted.
