In this study, the data of mean daily bright sunshine hour for Ibadan was obtained from the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) at Ibadan. It was used to estimate the monthly mean global solar radiation for Ibadan (latitude and longitude ). The data considered were for a period of 2008 to 2012. Angstrom-Prescott, and Glover & McCulloch’s Models were then used to estimate the mean monthly global solar radiation at Ibadan based on the monthly mean bright sunshine hour data of Ibadan. A new sunshine based model is also proposed to estimate global solar radiation at Ibadan for a period of five years (2008 – 2012). The performance of the models are evaluated by some statistical analysis like mean bias errors, root mean square error, mean percentage error, Nash- Sutcliffe error and coefficient of correlation in order to know the most suitable model. It was discovered that the month of August is the least amount of measured global solar radiation averaged for five years (2008 – 2012) at Ibadan is 9.77kW/m2. The most suitable model for Ibadan is Model 2 (Glover & McCulloch’s Model). The results obtained were validated with data of monthly mean global solar radiation data for Ibadan, obtained from the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture, Ibadan

Data Analysis for Solar Energy Generation in a University Microgrid

IJECEIAES

This paper presents a data acquisition process for solar energy generation and then analyzes the dynamics of its data stream, mainly employing open software solutions such as Python, MySQL, and R. For the sequence of hourly power generations during the period from January 2016 to March 2017, a variety of queries are issued to obtain the number of valid reports as well as the average, maximum, and total amount of electricity generation in 7 solar panels. The query result on all-time, monthly, and daily basis has found that the panel-by-panel difference is not so significant in a university-scale microgrid, the maximum gap being 7.1% even in the exceptional case. In addition, for the time series of daily energy generations, we develop a neural network-based trace and prediction model. Due to the time lagging effect in forecasting, the average prediction error for the next hours or days reaches 27.6%. The data stream is still being accumulated and the accuracy will be enhanced by more intensive machine learning.

Abstract As technology is advancing, the consumption of power is steadily rising. Sufficient and reliable source of electricity is a major prerequisite for a sustained and successful economic development and poverty reduction. The development of a country is dependent on the per person energy consumption rate, which is very low in Bangladesh. Bangladesh installed a capacity of 10416 MW electricity on June 2014 and three fourth of which is considered to be accessible. Near about 45% people has no access to electricity. Therefore, electricity shortage is an acute crisis in Bangladesh. As Saint Martin Island is far away from the main land, it is almost impossible and cost ineffective to supply electricity from the national grid. For connection of nearly 6000 peoples of Saint Martin Island to the main stream of development and to make this island more attractive to the tourists, it is very essential to provide electricity for them. Power generation by combining solar, wind and diesel, known as hybrid system can be the most efficient technique for the electrification of these types of Island. Based on this principle, in this paper a hybrid system is designed for electrification of Saint Martin’s Island. In the analysis, realistic data is used for load calculation and optimization analysis for most effective solution. Hybrid Optimization Model for Electric Renewable (HOMER) software is used to find out the final optimization and sensitive analysis of hybrid system. This system satisfies the load demand and reduces carbon emission which will help to generate green energy. This content presents the four procedures were investigated in detail with an emphasis on simplicity for application to disaster management (download from OSM website, download using QGIS plugin, download a file converted to a universal file format (shapefile) and adding rendered map in the background). The use of these data for resilient urban planning are demonstrated including setting a hazard layer (flood Model), setting an exposure layer (population) and exposure analysis using InaSAFE plugin.

All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error. Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials. This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
