Interdisciplinary Approach to Teaching Medication Adherence to Pharmacy and Osteopathic
Medical Students
Dana L. Singla, PharmD; George E. MacKinnon III, PhD; Karen J. MacKinnon, RPh; Wisam
Younis, PharmD; Ben Field, DOвЂ
The purpose of this project was to demonstrate to pharmacy and osteopathic medical students the
value of interdisciplinary education through participation in an interdisciplinary medication
adherence project. Each pharmacy student, assuming the role of a pharmacist, was paired with a
medical student acting as a physician with a needlestick exposure requiring HIV prophylaxis
therapy. Medical students were randomized to participate in one of three levels of pharmacist
counseling. After completion of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Further, medication adherence is especially necessary with antiretroviral therapy, in which a 5% to
20% reduction in medication adherence can result in a 60% virologic failure.21 All health
professionals need to understand the value of each profession toward improving patient outcomes.
The Institute of Medicine suggests that significant improvements in communication among health
care providers is necessary to reduce unexpected medical events.22
Methods
All third year pharmacy students (n 92) and all secondyear osteopathic medical students (n 115) at
Midwestern University were chosen to participate in the interdisciplinary medication adherence
project. Pharmacy education is generally a 4 year professional program to obtain a doctor of
pharmacy degree. However, unique to Midwestern University is a 3year doctor of pharmacy
professional program. Therefore, all

Roppongi Hills Essay
Roppongi Hills in Tokyo is often mentioned as one of the largest and most successful city renewal
projects that have ever been made after World Warв…Ўin Japan. The project started in 1984 and
took about 17 years to complete. The plan involved the city government, the land developer Mori
Building Co., and the residents living in the construction area. Just to reach agreements with 500
right holders, the company had spent over 15 years ( Roppongi Hills. ). The concept of the renewal
plan seems totally opposite from that of Jane Jacobs, but there is a point in the history of this
Roppongirenewal plan that is equivalent to her philosophy. Jane Jacobs idea regarding a local

The site provides almost everything that a person needs for living and working in Tokyo. The most
distinct feature of Roppongi Hills, however, is not their immense and luxurious looks, but the
enormously long and complicated process to compete the project which may be unimaginable for
Jane Jacobs. In 1986, TV Asahi Co., which owned the main part of the location, decided to make a
new headquarters building there and consulted the Minato Ward Office and Mori Building Co. The
Ward suggested that they should also redevelop the surrounding area since it was packed with
wooden houses, small apartments, and condominiums with narrow streets which made it difficult
for fire engines to come into the area in an emergency. After the district was officially designated as
a redevelopment inducement area by Tokyo Metropolitan Government in the same year, Mori
Building started to negotiate with the residents there. According to Mori Building, their first
contact with the residents was totally unwelcoming. Most of the residents did not listen to them at
all, but after their repeated visits at each resident s house at least once in two weeks, many of them
had gradually opened their hearts and listened to what the developer said. The company explained
to them that the plan was not a buyout. It s the joint reconstruction of their houses and apartments.

The Fathers Of The Family
The fathers of the family were constantly out working in the fields, and the mother of the family
would either be cleaning, taking care of infants, or cooking for her family. So, from the time
children are able to walk, they have to discover ways to pass the time. Just like today, some
activities were restricted due to the weather outside. For example, during the winter season pigs
were being slaughtered. Children would go to the slaughterhouse and pick up the pigs bladders
and blow them up like balloons. Also during the wintertime, it would snow. Just like children
today, kids would go out in the streets and participate in snowball fights. When it was summery
outside children would go to ponds or streams and have water fights with their friends or siblings,
because during this time water fights were a popular form of recreation. Other forms of recreation
were: fighting battles with wooden swords, competing in little play tournaments, and playing hide
and seek. Chiara Frugoni noted in her book: We known more about medieval children s games ever
since a whole collection of toys made of clay was discovered during the nineteenth century in
Strasbourg, in the workshop of a thirteenth century potter: bird shaped whistles, miniature tiles and
pitchers, tiny moneyboxes, little dolls, and diminutive horses with riders on their backs. (Frugoni,
p. 131)
Simultaneously, children during this period also had to learn. Children who were born into a poverty

The value of fraud reported in the survey period was RM63.95 million. Not all respondents
disclosed information on the number of fraud incidents or the value of fraud detected (15
percent of the 85 respondents responded they were victims of fraud were unsure of the number

this suggests that losses may be far bigger than the disclosed amounts of the 56 percent of
respondents who reported some form of recovery of assets that were misappropriated, 43 percent
reported partial recovery while 13 percent reported full recovery. On the other hand, the number
of identity fraud (when the person knowingly or intentionally obtains personal identifying

amount of fraud increased by 12.5 percent. This is the highest rate of increase in the seven years

Gender the quality is not a woman s issue, it is a human issue. It affects us all . What does that
mean? It means that all people are created equal in God s eyes. Yet this is still a serious topic that
has been going on for ages and ages. Even in the sports industry. In today s world there is been a
new law called Title IX. Title IX has been around for a long time now, yet it still creates a
controversy. Many people put title IX only with sports, but that is what it is only involved in. It is
involved in things like education, occupational things also. This paper will talk about Womans life

about sports, or men against women in sports. Title IX is to help women not get discriminated in
educational fields, recruitment, athletics, or getting a job. Title IX has helped women

Rochester Youth Development Study
One study conducted by Chen, Propp, deLara, Corvo at Syracuse University School of Social
Work hypothesized that victims of childhood neglect are more likely to be arrested for juvenile
drug and alcohol offenses than their community matched pairs (Chen et. al, 2013). They also
proposed that adolescents who are male, minority, and neglectvictims are at the greatest risk of
being arrested for juvenile drug and alcohol offenses. This is concurrent with my position that
neglected children are at an increased risk for juvenile delinquency. The study utilized data and
findings from the Childhood Victimization and Delinquency, Adult Criminality, and Violent

Dr. Cathy S. Widom of the Department of Psychiatry at the New Jersey Medical School, showed
that youth who had been abused or neglected as children were more likely to be arrested as
juveniles (27 percent versus 17 percent), adults (42 percent versus 33 percent) and for a violent
crime (18 percent versus 14 percent) than a comparable control group of young people with no
comparable history of abuse or neglect. In the early study by Widom, the researcher followed
children who had been abused and/or neglected approximately 25 years earlier through an
examination of official criminal records, then compared them with a matched control group of
children of the same age, sex, race, and approximate social class (Widom, 2017). The author
conducted this research in a metropolitan county in the Midwest using cases of child abuse and
neglect that came to the attention of the courts from 1989 through 1992. An assessment of
criminal behavior found that early child abuse and neglect increased the risk of arrest as a
juvenile by 55% and increased the risk of being arrested for a violent crime as a juvenile by 96%.
These researchers also found that those with a history of being abused or neglected were younger

Can KELP recover? Consider the perspective of not only the customers but the employees as well.
Also, consider whether Wesley is part of the brand or not.
3.Assuming that Wesley is completely removed from the operations of KELP and his parents take

1Abstract
Crisis management is an important consideration for any business and should be incorporated into
their marketing strategy. With the case of Wesley Chiu and his restaurant KELP, the necessary
crisis management strategies were not in place. As a result of Wesley s arrest and uncovering of his
criminal past, the future of KELP is uncertain.
2Objectives
The objective of this case is to understand the importance of crisis management. This case is
intended to make the reader consider not only financial implications at the time of the event but the
effects on the long term strategies of the organization. Also, the case urges participants to think
about the consequences not only on the customer but on those within the organization as well.
Another key objective of this case is to illustrate how unrelated incidences can effect business. The

Adventure Movies In Finding Nemo And The Wizard Of Oz
One person may prefer comedy movies, while another person prefers horror films, but what if a
movie s genre is ambiguous? Breaking down each movie into specific criteria helps determine
which genre suits it best. Movie genres benefit viewers because they give each movie a title that
breaks them down into general criteria that similar movies share, rather than describing specific
details from the movie. The movies Finding Nemo and The Wizard of Ozare both examples of
adventure movies. The first dynamic moment in the movie Finding Nemo is when Nemo swims
over the drop off and the scuba diver catches him and brings him to an aquarium. Nemo s
location change creates a conflict because he is no longer with his father in the ocean; he is on
land. Throughout the course of the movie Marlin and Dory travel across a vast majority of the
ocean and land in hopes of finding Marlin s son, Nemo. In The Wizard of Oz things change when
a tornado strikes Dorothy s home in Kansas. She wakes up in an unfamiliar place with unfamiliar
people. Dorothy travels through the Land of Ozto a known destination where the Wizard of Oz
lives. Dorothy s goal is not to find anything or anyone and then leave happily. Dorothy hopes that
when she meets with the Wizard, he will bring her back to her home in Kansas. An adventure movie
is a movie that provides action and excitement through the adaptation and utilization of the setting.
There is always a journey in an adventure movie, but there is usually an

Summary Of Ayn Rand s Anthem
To rule, a ruler needs control. It is the cornerstone of any society with a leader. The society Ayn
Rand creates in Anthem is no exception. In Anthem, the rules in the society depicted by Rand exist
for control, and were initially created for equality but spiraled out of control into a world built on
collectivism and backward teachings. The society Prometheus, or Equality, envisions in the final
chapters of the novella would never have any of the rules in his past society, as he realizes through
his journey that they are evil and damaging. The Unmentionable Times turned into the society we
see in Anthem through giving up freedom for the sake of equality. A high school teacher mailed
Rand her students questions about the novella,

My Internship Analysis
This summer I had the chance to take on a great challenge. I completed 120 hours for my
internship while at the same time working as fulltime employee. I truly mean it when I say it
was a great challenge. In only 2 months I completed 120 hours in an office that was only open 8
5 Monday through Friday. I know it may seem reasonable to others and you might even ask why
that would be something so difficult for me to do but it was very tough. You see, I work my
total of 40 hours a week at my current job and to add more hours to my schedule seemed pretty
exhausting. Unfortunately, I am not as privileged as other to have an amazing schedule like 8 to 5

I not only learned about the procedures for child support but I also learned things that will help
in any career that I decide to get into. I learned about proper communication skills. During my
time at the office I watched how communication was very important. Our communication skills
can help in many things and one major thing is to calm a person down, express compassion, give
assurance. I witnessed several clients going into the offices very bothered and frustrated with
their cases or some would even come in sad and disappointed but the office staff knew how to
communicate properly with them and assure them of any concerns they had. Another thing I
learned is multi tasking. The office was all about multi tasking and doing things fast. I realized
that I need to work on my typing in order to type faster. Since I am interested in office work I do
need to type faster than I do now. Regarding multi tasking, I had to document, file, and place in
order all the paperwork for files that needed to be ready for court. I had to have over 4 programs
open on my desktop to look for photos and files that needed to be printed and also programs
where I had to notate what changes were done to the case or the latest update on the file. I also
learned to proper documentation and filing. I had to constantly document any changes I made to
each file. Each documentation was detailed and had to have a date the change was made, what was
the change, and who made the change. I also learned the importance of confidentiality. During my
time at the office they were very clear on how confidentiality is their number one priority. Due to
keeping everything confidential, it was a major rule at the office that anyone who stood and left
their office station must lock their computers. All documents that were printed out by mistake or

Analyzing Aircraft in Alaska
Definition of terms
There are several terms that geeky airplane folks use when discussing the properties and merits
of airplanes. It is necessary to understand these terms when comparing airplanes. Some of the
most commonly used are gross weight, useful load, and payload. Gross weight is the maximum
aircraft weight when full with cargo and fuel. It can be dangerous to exceed gross weight because
the airframe might not be able to handle the extra weight. Useful load is how much weight can be
put in the plane including fuel. Payload is how much weight can be put in the plane after it is full
of fuel.
Some common terms used in describing bush planes are stall speed, STOL, ground roll, take off
distance over 50 feet, and rate of climb. Stall speed is when the airplane stops producing enough
lift to fly, and the airplane stops flying. STOL is an acronym for Short Takeoff and Landing.
Ground roll is how many feet it takes for a plane to takeoff. Take off distance over 50 feet is how
many feet it takes for a plane to take off from being stopped to climb 50 feet in the air. Rate of
climb is how many vertical feet per minute, FPM, an airplane can climb.
Description of airplanes
The Piper Super Cub is one of the most popular aircraft in Alaska because it has STOL
performance and is a cheap plane to buy and fly. It is cheap enough for even private pilots to own.
It can accommodate only two people but

History and Experience of the Sikh Diaspora in the United States
Sikh migrants began arriving in the United States more than one hundred years ago, and now have
reached numbers close to half a million. Like most other immigrant communities in the United
States, Sikhs have faced problems that are both specific to their community and that are also shared
by other ethnic communities making their way in a new land. Despite their recent numbers and
century long history in the United States, many of their fellow Americans know relatively little
about Sikhs, their history, and their faith. They are often confused by others in the United States as

A Sikh man, by design, stands out in a crowd with his turban and full beard. These outwardly shown
symbols of faith make the Sikhs a special minority in the United States and throughout the diaspora

The invasion of the Punjab by the British during the Anglo Sikh War in 1849 led to the annexation
of the Punjab to Britain in March of that year. The ferocity and tenacity of the Sikh warriors
greatly impressed the British, and the fierceness of the British earned the mutual respect from the
Sikhs as well. The British considered the Sikhs a martial race , and Sikhs were allowed to enlist in
the British Indian Army. At it s highest point, Sikh enlistment represented 33% of the British Indian
Army, despite the fact that Sikhs only accounted for around 2% of India s total population.[4] Sikh
regiments were eventually dispatched throughout the colonies of the British Empire. Many of these
Sikh soldiers remained in the colonies after completion of their military duties. Their reputation as
soldiers and warriors put them in demand as employes in police and various other security services
throughout the British Empire. These soldier sojourners represent the first phase of Sikhs being
scattered across the globe.[5]

Comparing The Portrait Of Sally Fairchild By John Singer...
For my term paper I decided to go to the Cantor Museum in Palo Alto, and I chose to focus on
two portraits of women from two distinct time periods. First, I decided on the portrait of
Margaret Blagge, Wife of Sidney, 1st Earl of Godolphin. This portrait was painted by the artist
Matthew Dixon in 1675, in the Baroque period of art. The portrait of Margaret Blagge was done
in England, and it was painted as an oil on canvas. The second artwork I chose to compare was the
Portrait of Sally Fairchild by John Singer Sargent. This portrait was done from the year 1884 to
1887 during the Realism movement in art. The portrait of Sally Fairchild was painted in the United
States of America, and was painted as an oil on canvas. When comparing these two portraits... Show

Value is the relative darkness or lightness of a painting, and it assists in creating volume for a
painting as well. In Matthew Dixon s painting, the Portrait of Margaret Blagge, the value falls
under tenebrism. Chiaroscuro is the contrast between dark and light in a painting, and tenebrism
is an extreme case of chiaroscuro, with a violent contrast between dark and light. Dixon was
able to have Margaret Blagge stand out from the background by composing the whiteness of her
skin directly next to the darkness of the background. By using tenebrism, Matthew Dixon was
able to achieve a great deal of volume in his painting. Where the whiteness of Margaret Blagge s
skin touches the darkness of the background it is as though she can be lifted out of her frame.
John Singer Sargent s Portrait of Sally Fairchild, is different in comparison to Matthew Dixon s
portrait, because there is not much chiaroscuro in it. The most evident contrast between dark and
light is the transition from the shadows fallen on the left side of Sally Fairchild s body and her
white skin. The contrast of shadow to the face helps create the volume of her chin against her neck.
Both paintings are different, yet they both have a sense of volume, despite having used different

Why Do Grizzly Bears Live
The Ursus Arctos otherwise known as the grizzly bear lives in North America around Northern
Canada, Alaska, Wyoming, Montana, and Idaho. A grizzly bear lives in the wild and hunts for its

weather, they will also live under trees or anything that will provide them shelter. I believe that
grizzly s have evolved into animals that can survive in many climates and environments.
Grizzly Bears have a hump on their shoulders and a concave face. Their claws are 2 4 inches long,

enough food because their immune system will deteriorate and kill them. Grizzly Bears are
divergent because recent studies have shown that some grizzly bear s mothers are polar bears and
fathers are grizzly bears. This means that the fathers travel long distances to mate with mother
polar bears. The most recent studies have suggested that they have been divergent from about

Analysis Of The Documentary Blackfish Essay
Director Gabriela Cowperthwaite in the documentary, Blackfish (2013), argues that captivity
triggers aggression in killer whales. Cowperthwaite supports her argument by demonstrating
shocking footage and emotional interviews to present a convincing case against keeping these
animals in captivity and for human entertainment. The author s purpose is to show the problems
that are caused by captivity in order to aware the audience that keeping killer whales in captivity
affects their behavior mentally and physically. The author writes in resentful tone to Sea World, the
people who visited Sea World, and those who were present during the killer whaleincident. Gabriela
Cowperthwaite argues that keeping killer whales in captivity at SeaWorldaffects their mentality due
to how they are being treated. She makes this argument by applying pathos, ethos, and logos. In
beginning of the film, the appeal to pathos affects the audience as we listen to what these former
trainers have to say about how they became interested in the job and what made them realize that
a trainer was what they wanted to be. As a little kid each of these trainers were inspired by

The Influence Of Book Censorship In America
Book Censorship in America
Beginning in 399 B.C. when Socrates was sentenced to drink poison for corrupting his students due
to his non traditional ideas, book censorship has become increasingly more prominent in today s
society. In fact, 275 books were banned in the United States alone in the year 2015, according to
the American Library Association(2016). Books such as The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel
Hawthorne and even the ever popular Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling have been banned for a
variety of reasons (American Library Association, 2015).
On the other hand, many concerned citizens believe that books should be banned because they
may contain violence such as shown in The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. Another reason
people believe that books should be banned is because of the book containing racial themes, as
shown in The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain. Profanity is also a concern for
many Americans. A book banned for this type of content is The Catcher in the Rye by JD
Salinger. Sexual content is also a fear amongst individuals, such as shown in Brave New World by
Aldous Huxley. Lastly, individuals are extremely terrified that children will read about ideas that
are different from their own and questions the social hierarchy. One of these non traditional books
is To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee.

The United States Marine Corp
The United States Marine Corp (USMC) was founded in 1775 during The Revolutionary War.
From it s inception, the ranks of the USMC were filled exclusively by males. Over 143 years
later, in 1918, women were finally allowed to enlist. At first, women couldn t participate in
combat and were restricted to a limited number of jobs. As was common at the time, they were
not respected by their male counterparts. It took several decades for women to gain respect and to
be a allowed the full spectrum of opportunities within the ranks of the Corps. Opha M. Johnson
was the one who helped immensely with this. It was because of her that women found and
inspiration and a model female marine to follow. She made an impact that was forever lasting and...

a time of need and took it. Her brave decision led many other women after her to find the courage

raging throughout Europe. As a result, the Marine Corps made the decision to allow women to
assume the responsibilities, or billets, of men who were battle ready but held a clerical or

Strengths And Weaknesses
In order to define and understand myself in the workplace, I need to know my strengths and
weaknesses. What improvements and alterations do I need in order to be a step closer to success
in the workplace? As a starting point, the self assessments provided by McGrawHill and the
information from management class will provide a clearer picture of who I am in terms of leading,
acquired needs, teamwork attitudes, global potential, and strategic thinking. From what I have
gathered, the results relating to personalitywere accurate and the results relating to potential were
surprising to me. With this information, I am able to produce and strengthen goals to improve. The
survey results I am most satisfied with are acquired needs and global potential because a needfor
achievement and potential for global managing are the two qualities I like the most about myself
in terms of my future goals. The negative results that come as no surprise to me are teamwork and
a need for power and affiliation. Although I was aware of these strengths and weaknesses, these self
assessment tests put an emphasis and reminded me that I need to work harder in my attitude and
behaviors when interacting/collaborating with people in the workplace. Whether I got good results
or not, all of these qualities can be continuously worked on for improvement.
The motivation to lead has 3 aspects: how you see yourself as a leader, how willing you are to
lead on your own and how you respond to others ask you to lead (Chan and Drasgow, 2001). I
scored high on my motivation to lead. This was one of the unexpected results since I don t find
it easy to take initiative in leading; it requires a lot of communication and human skills (Kinicki,
2018, p23). In chapter 1 of Kinicki, motivating, directing and influencing people to work hard to
achieve the organization s goals is the definition of leading. To make sure everyone in the
organization is on the same page, one must be able to bring everyone together and resolve any
obstacles that may come. I have not associated those actions with the term leading but rather
assisting which is probably why I was surprised with the results. Now that I know I have some
motivation to lead, I should work on the next

A Story of a Madman or a Paranoid Murderer
A Story of a Madman or a Paranoid Murderer? Often referred to as the architect of the modern
short story, Edgar Allen Poe paints a vivid picture of a seemingly insane man murdering his
elderly roommate in the short story, The Tell Tale Heart ( Biography ). It is a great example of Poe
s style, with the major themes being insanity, paranoia, and murder. The Tell Tale Heart
is a short
storywritten with the intent of focusing on the psyche of the main character. Since it is told from a
first person point of view, the audience is able to see what the protagonist is thinking and how his
plan of this murder develops ( Biography ). This story might just seem like a tale of insanity, guilt,
and murder, but upon further examination, it is a tale of moral deficiency, superhuman ability,
paranoia, and ironic dissemblance.
In The Tell Tale Heart , Poe s use of the unreliable narrator is very well executed, because the lack
of certain details adds to the suspense of this grim story. The reader is able to focus on the raw
details of the murderous plot and the events that follow, in addition by leaving out certain details, it
leads to some interesting questions. Who is the narrator s audience that he is confessing the details
of his crime to? What is the disease that he speaks of in the beginning? Is guilt the main reason for
his confession at the end of the story? Perhaps the most obvious question raised after reading The
Tell Tale Heart, is whether the main character actually

Descriptive Essay On Sinister Night
Sinister Night The moon was covered by voluminous clouds, casting a gloomy setting of the
dusk sky night. Gusts of wind swayed the greenery as the paved road separating the dense forest
and an old neighborhood was decorated with wet spots from the light rain. Cold droplets of
water penetrated through Giselle s sweater, making her shiver. She rubbed her arms in an
attempt to make herself feel warmer while hurrying her step to get home. Of all the houses in
the neighborhood, hers was the most unkempt. The small garden in front of her house was
crippled, with every delicate flower in a dying stage. Pesky weeds sprouting from the dirt were
the only source of green in her yard, while most of the windows had small cobwebs invading the
corners. However, the most noticeable defect was the yellow house paint, chipping from harsh
weather and unforgivable decades. In all, her house looked forsaken. Mom, I m home! she
called, after walking through her front door. Giselle dropped her backpack on the couch,
flicking the lights on beside her. Her living room came to life, as the light bounced off the beige
walls. Unlike the outside of the house, the inside was pristine. A chimney sat in the center of the
wall to the right side of her, giving a welcoming vibe. A couch was placed on the right side of the
fireplace, covering a small section of the front window of the house, while another one sat parallel
to the chimney, close to the door. She called her mother again, walking

Iowa State Football Essay
Iowa State football hasn t been the talk of Iowa for many years. In fact, I have seen Iowa State
fans getting ready Iowa State basketball in the middle of September. But 2017 has been a diamond
in the rough for the Clones. They have been able to do things this season that haven t been done in
a long time for their program.
To really understand how huge this season has been for Iowa State, you have to look at Iowa State
football since its inception. Iowa State football has been around since 1892, but in their first 124
years success has been hard to come by. Now it hasn t been all bad, there have been little jolts of
success every now and again. Like when they were invited to bowl games in

great summer, and put it together for what is now fall camp ... there s been great growth, and I m

With Matt Campbell at the helm, Iowa State is having a season for the ages. They have a

Medea And Jason
The play that we are discussing is called Medea that was written by the famous playwright
Euripides at the time 431 B.C.E and was also performed 431 BC.
This play was one of the Euripides most widely know plays and it was a big hit because of the
tragic storyline that it was expressing.
This play discussed the relationship between the respected and feared Medea and the father of her
children and proud warrior Jason and how over time the trust between both of them got tested and
it caused the viewers to truly consider that there is a lesson within the struggle that Medea and
Jason go through during this moment in their life. Also at the time of the first performance most
people only knew of two types of plays, comedy and tragedy and it caused an obvious sense of
tragedy because everything in the character Medea s life ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Personally, I think that the reason for these themes are to present a sense of awareness to the
mistreatment of people s emotions and how trying to manipulate people can lead to a huge
downfall. This statement is proven in the play by show that Medea was pushed so far that she
thought of resorting to killing her own children because she was so hurt by how the nation that
she once ruled were treating her and most importantly, she was hurt by her old husband Jason,
who was going to leave Medea, who once was the fair princess of her own country was now
about to get replaced by a younger and more beautiful princess that had shown deep interest in
Jason. Also around that time it s much easier for a man to have a woman listen to him and his
problems while the female constantly goes through problems that they can t express fully with their
man, which can cause a big sense of neglect instead of comfort and

Evolutionary Algorithms are working mainly based on two features variation (recombination and

Variation operator can be a recombination in the case of binary operation and mutation in the case
of unary, The evolutionary algorithms works on the basic steps start with initializing, Initialize the

The main purpose of this defense essay is to understand what drove Theodore Robert Bundy to
commit the crimes he is accused of. After reading and listening to interviews with Ted Bundy
and reading expert opinion, it is my conclusion Bundy knew his actions were wrong but the
impulse overrode reasoning. The defense, the M Naghten Rule irresistible impulse defense would
fit the Bundy crimes of murder and rape of young women. The craving and increasing desire to

Ted was a preteen when learning of his illegitimacy from a cousin (Carlise). This information has

want to confront her about it. In an interview describing the discovery, he says I didn t allow
myself to think about it. Like other things I didn t want to face, I turned to my hero fantasies and
to masturbation (Carlise). Al Carlise Ph.D. wrote how fantasy and dissociation is linked, When a
person is totally absorbed in a fantasy, he dissociates everything around him. Anger and emptiness
become the energy and motivating forces behind the fantasy. While in the fantasy the person
experiences a sense of excitement and relief. However, when it is over there is still a feeling of
emptiness because the fantasy has whetted an appetite for the real thing, which he anticipates will
be even more enjoyable than the fantasy. There s a strong force to shift back and forth from reality
and fantasy. Ted wasn t aware creating an alternate fantasy personality he was creating neural
circuits in his brain which could become permanent mental representatives of this personality

In order to analyze the airline industry, we need to conduct the PESTEL Analysis.

Regulations for the air travel industry are getting even more stringent. The European Union
authorities demand that airlines operate in an open, transparent manner. Any state subsidies to airline
companies are prohibited in order to make working conditions equal to anyone and to boost
competition in the industry. There are also regulations in place for airlines not to exceed certain
levels of noise and air pollution. All of the legislation and regulations make operating in the

He also repeatedly challenged his rivals in very outspoken and extraordinary ways (e.g.,
challenged EasyJet sitting on top of a tank etc). His leadership style can be seen as
transformational rather than transactional because under his management people tried to work
harder and achieve challenging goals and felt commitment to what they were doing. FT called O
Leary one of the 25 greatest European business stars ( A head for numbers, a shrewd marketing
brain, and a ruthless competitive streak ).
4. The Competitive Environment
In order to understand the competitive environment, it is useful to carry out the Porter s Five
Forces Analysis:
Barriers to Entry High because as the case suggests only early entrants such as Ryanair can succeed.
There has been much industry shake out and many airlines have gone bust. High entry costs due to
the necessity to buy expensive aircraft and equipment, pay to airports, and advertise massively. In
the market where one competes on cost and not on differentiation, it is hard to attract customers
from incumbent airlines.
Threat of substitutes Medium to high. Although low cost carriers have taken over some share of
car ferries and buses, high speed trains in Europe, especially on short haul routes are posing an
increasingly serious threat. The speeds of the train are ever increasing and new routes are
constantly being added, which compounds the situation.

How Far Do You Agree That Socialist Realism Was Stalinв

Stalin had several methods of social control that gave him such a powerful rule in Russia that
even today he still has supporters. Socialist Realism was an essential method to create this,
although it was not the most important method of social control. Socialist Realism was the
second most important method of social control as it was very effective, but not as effective as
the Terror. Social Realism allowed Stalin to be portrayed in a positive light but it was also an
attempt to use art forms to sell government economic and social policy to the Russian people.
Artists were made to abandon their new methods and instead forced to create more traditional
pieces of art, such as Roses For Stalin (Boris Vladimirski, 1949). This painting... Show more

This caused Stalin to gain a lot of support due to the sense of fear in the population, which also
made them fear Stalin himself. This gave Stalin a greater power in Russia as anyone who was
reluctant to follow him before had no choice but to obey him. Show trials were a crucial part of
the Terror as they made many people fear the consequences of going against Stalin. In show trials,
the aim was not to establish innocence or guilt as the guilt of the non Communists on trial were
assumed guilty from the start. This would show the Communists as the only trustworthy party.
However, in 1936, Communists were on trial such as Zinoviev and Kamenev. They were charged
with the mysterious murder of Kirov, a considered threat to Stalin. Although they pleaded their
innocence in jail, they were persuaded to confess. This portrayed Stalin as the only trustworthy
member of the Communists and so, he should be leader. Moreover, the Terror was Stalin s most
important method of social control as it forced people to follow him or face extreme consequences.
The cult of personality was one of Stalin s most important methods of social control. This method
gave the impression that Stalin wanted to help people and improve the living standards in Russia,
and most importantly made him seem like a great leader. This

A. 1 Describe Market Segmentation
Part A 1 Describe Market Segmentation
Market Segmentation was introduced by Wendall Smith (Smith, 1956). Benefits of market
segmentation include a better and fuller understanding of the market, the ability to predict customer
behaviour with more accuracy and an increased chance of detecting potential market opportunities
(Kotler and Cox, 1988).
The total market is perceived to be made up of several smaller segments, each segment in some way
different from the other. This enables businesses to identify which segments are appealing to them
and they can then profitably target their products and services to these customer segments through
their marketing (Meyer and Graham, 2015)
Similarly (Tynan and Drayton, 1987) states that the aim of market segmentation is to identify
market segments, or individual sets of customers, which would form targets for the company s
future marketing plans. The elements used to separate customers into segments can include: age,
gender, occupation, income, life stage, amongst others. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Association Between Parenting And Its Effect On Child...
Now that the association between parenting and its effect on child behavior is made relative, we
can take a look at negative parenting styles and its association with delinquency. Wilma Smeenk,
and Jan Gerris have done an analysis that associated parenting with delinquency. This analysis was
able to link parental monitoring, psychological control, and negative aspects of support like
rejection and hostility. The demographic was divided by parentand child gender, child age,

Parenting dimensions have been proposed by two dimensions, support and control. These
dimensions are used to analyze the quality of parenting behaviors. The support dimension refers to

Authoritarian control is more directed to adult oriented, restricted, and firm discipline techniques. It
emphasizes the negative aspect of control like harsh punishment and rejection. Authoritative control
has positive effects on child behavior unlike authoritarian control which has been found to have
negative effects on the children.
Males appear to participate in more delinquent behaviors than females do. One ideas shows that
males may be vulnerable to risk factors for delinquency because of sub par parenting. Another idea
is that delinquency is the same for males and females, but boys are more exposed to to
opportunities for delinquency than females. In addition to child gender, the gender of the parent
also plays a role. The link between fathers parenting and mothers parenting to a child s delinquency
can be different. The amount of time a father and mother spends with their child is not the same.
The study suggests that the differences between the link between delinquency and paternal and
maternal parenting, a fathers supportive behavior was more strongly related to delinquency than
mothers support. In order to analyze whether the same sex between parents and child influenced
delinquent behavior the study broke up subjects by fathers sons and mothers daughters, and fathers

The Factors Affecting The Work Environment On Health...
Literature Review In the recent years, there has been viable evidence that shows that other factors
in the work environment may also be strong push factors for retention (Burns, Bradley and
Weiner, 2012, pg.445). The factors that contribute to forcing workers to leave the public sector
include: workload and staff shortages are contributing to burnout, high absenteeism, stress,
depression, low morale, and de motivation (Burns, Bradley and Weiner, 2012, pg.445). It is also
shown that poor working conditions also contributes to preventing staff morale and motivation and
it also contributes directly to recruitment and retention (Burns, Bradley and Weiner, 2012, pg445).
According to Burns, Bradley and Weiner (2012), one strategy being used to alleviate health
worker shortages and to improve access and quality of health services is task shifting, or the
delegation of tasks that would traditionally fall within the scope of practice of doctors or nurses to
other health who have undergone shorter periods of training (Burns, Bradley and Weiner, 2012,
pg.445). In so by implementing task shifting, the work load that all nurses have to handle on a daily
basis is split up with easier duties falling on other health professionals with less experience. Also
another strategy of combating nursing retention is by offering nonfinancial incentives instead of
financial incentives which can help to motivate workers (Burns, Bradley and Weiner, 2012,

entering the building a little difficult for someone who is in a wheelchair or cannot move very
quickly. In order to unlock the main door, an electronic key fob needs to be scanned on a
scanner. The scanner is inconveniently located too far away for a person to remain in the same
place to scan their key fob and open the door at the same time. Since the scanner only unlocks
the door momentarily, the door would most likely lock itself by the time someone who had
issues with mobility was able to reach the door handle and open the door. This could be fixed by
increasing the amount of time the door remains unlocked after scanning the key fob or by
moving the key fob scanner closer to the door handle. I also noticed that if someone is trying to

accessibility issues. The leasing office door needs to be replaced with a

Designing A Language For The Banking Problem
This essay is written to design a language that is suitable for the banking problem. The banking
sector is related to the business areas. Banking sector provide services to their customers and
security of their customer s money to them. Banking is also evolved in the finance areas also.
There are many programming languages that have been widely used for the business applications
of computers. Some of these languages are java, COBOL, FORTRAN, Pascal, Python, PHP, C/C++
etc. Each language has its own features and characteristics, syntax, compilation and interpreter
methods and also has exception handling and maintenance also. So, here I am going to design a
new language that is use for the banking problem domain. The language is IBPL (Internet Business
Programming Language). This language has its own features, scope, characteristics, maintenance
and its compilation and interpretation methods. This language is different from all the existing
languages. In this essay I am going to describe about my language i.e. IBPL (Internet Business
Programming Language), its purpose of designing, its features, its characteristics, its compilation
and interpretation, its expressivity, type checking, Orthogonality, its simplicity, its data types and
support for abstraction, its readability, writability and its reliability etc.
So, in this I am going to write an essay to design a new language for the problem domain of
banking.

The Indium Scan Test Essay examples
Who would have thought we would be using nuclear substances for medical purposes? Well, we
are many different ways. I am going to discuss a test called the Indium Scan; this test requires the
use of nuclear substances being injected into the blood stream via an IV. The amount of Indium
that is giving is based on the patient and what the doctor feels as appropriate.
What is Indium you may ask?
Indium is an element. It has a classification name of metal. Indium was named for the Indigo line
of spectrum and came from the Latin word indicum. There are 23 different types of Indium
isotopes however only two are natural. Indium is also found in zinc, iron and lead. Indium is used
for many reasons such as low melting point alloys, as well as many ... Show more content on

First the patient s blood is drawn usually mixed with a small amount of substance called Indium
111 isotope, also known as tagging. This test requires around 50 mls of blood. In the second part of
the test they inject the cells back into the patient s body through a vein. This is not a contrast.
The next day the patient is asked to return for a series of images using a gamma camera. This is a
full body scan. This test is done by a nuclear medicine technician. This part usually last between
60 to 90 minutes, this is the final stage of the test. In the case of an infection or abscess the
tagged cells will clump to a specific area of the body usually the liver or spleen but also other
organs as well.
The test has been known to be giving on children in the case of inflammatory bowel disease so the
test does not discriminate against age. There have not been enough studies in the case of children
and the Indium scan and the effects from it.
There are no restrictions or preparation to undergo this test and is painless except for the sharp
feeling from the needle however the patient is asked to remain still on the table as if not it may
affect the results. The table may be hard and cold, you will not be able to feel the radioactive
substance enter your blood stream. The patient may eat regularly as well as drink. The doctor may
ask you to stop taking any antibiotics if any prior to testing.
There are no known side effects of the test,

Silver DBQ
Silver DBQ Essay
The global flow of silver from the mid sixteenth century to the early eighteenth century had vast
effects both socially and economically around the world. By this time an interregional trade
network had been clearly established and world trade was booming. When China, a prominent trade
nation, accepted silver as its currency and would only exchange for it, the importance of silver
increased. This new rapid scramble for silver proved to be both beneficial and disastrous. While
countries which were lucky geographically in their supply of raw silver could now trade
prominently with China, demand created an increase of labor and social unrest. Reliance on silver

2). Europe seemed to remain the most neutral in this desperate silver trade, choosing to remain
only involved enough to observe. British merchants were not entirely reliant on trade to or from
the Asian worlds so merely recorded how China received nothing but silver (Doc. 4) and the
Portuguese use this to their good advantage in China . However, England could not remain
completely unaffected as scholars such as Charles D Avenant observed. Luxury goods
especially spices and silks have become prominent in European culture. While Europe draws
from Asia nothing on solid use it has tasted of this luxury (Doc. 8) and it is not advisable for
England to pull out of this silver trade. England could afford to remain more objective, but it
could not pull out entirely. It had roots planted early on, and it would cause severe social
disturbance to tear them up. Yet despite any conjectures drawn from accounts of scholars,
merchants, officials and priests it is impossible to know the full extent of the economic and
social effects of silver without the voice of the common people. It was the commoners, laborers,
slaves, farmers and peasants which bore the full brunt of the trade. Their every day lives relied on
day to day paychecks, which mandated how they survived. It is the rise and fall of poverty in the
peasantry, the social unrest or benefit of the commoners that would reveal the true effect of silver.

Lawyer and Politician, Patrick Henry, in his speech, Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death (03/23

As well as not letting it be, if they don t fight they ll become slaves of the British and he doesn t
want that for the people wanting them to fight for their freedom. He supports his claim by first
going to the president and letting him know that for their country they should take in
consideration the war that s coming, his personal belief is not to lay back, there is no backup with
no time to waste, while questioning freedom and slavery, him being a natural man he believes that
illusion of hope is false, finally not being dishonest with themselves and fight. Henry s purpose is

What Is Krishna The God Of Hinduism
Krishna the God of Hinduism Krishna was one of the principal gods of Hinduism. He was the
god that the Hindu people looked up to in order to achieve their goals. Krishna was a loyal,
moral, and faithful person. Deeply, Krishna was admired by his devotees for his righteous mind
and his ethical model of behavior. How do people believe Krishnawas a reincarnation of Vishnu, the
god of preserver, and protector, the second god of the trinity? What special thing about Krishna
compare to other reincarnation of Vishnu. Krishna was the hope of deliverance and hopeless people.
Firstly, Krishna was born in jail where his mom Devaki and his dad Vasudeva was put into jail
by king Kamsa for the fear of being destroyed or killed by the eighth child of Devaki. He is
worshiped as the eighth avatar of the god Vishnu. Every sibling of Krishna was killed by Kamsa,
but Krishna survived from being killed. He was the reincarnation of Vishnu, Vishnu appeared
before Devaki and Vasudeva and told them he would return to earth by being born as their child
and will rescue them.
The rightful king of Mathura Ugrasen had been deposed by Kamsa. After Krishna was born the
father found himself freed from prison and fled to a safe house. Krishna removed any obstacles
that appeared before them on the way to the safe house. His foster parents Nanda and Yasoda took

Frida Kahlo Vs Jacques Derrida
It can be argued that Frida Kahlo is a painter that challenged the ideas pertaining to gender, race,
and sexuality. She is known for questioning the essence of these identities. Kahlo famously painted
depictions which show her questioning and exploring her own identity. When looking at her whole
body of work, it is apparent that Kahlo was interested in gender and racial constructs. Frida Kahlos
painting, Diego and Frida, 1929 1944 is one visual example of how Frida Kahlo was an artist that
challenged ideas surrounding gender, race, and sexuality. This painting can be seen through the lens
of deconstruction to offer a deeper insight into its meaning. Vernon Minor and Jacques Derrida are
art theorists that have also speculated about deconstruction. These two both made an argument that
deconstruction is made stronger when direct opposites are used.... Show more content on

Deconstruction at its core is an act that ask questions for the sake of asking questions. This is so
because deconstruction is not about reaching a conclusion. Rather, deconstruction seeks to
expand questioning in order to expand perception. Jacques Derrida points out, that there is no
such thing as true deconstruction. Derrida states that every decoding is another encoding It is
important to note that in so saying this, Derrida has fundamentally defining a key characteristic
of decoding. There is no way to truly decode as there is always a naturally occurring need to seek
to define what has been decoded. This, however, is not the goal of decoding. The true aim of
decoding is to continually ask questions in order to raise new questions thus, new understanding.
Diego and Frida 1929 1944 contains specific points of reference within the painting that allude to
decoding. In particular, Frida Kahlo uses binary opposites as imagery in this

The Problem Of A Student
Everyone has questions when starting something new, will I make it? what is this all about, or
am I even smart enough to even considering such a huge commitment? These may be just a few
that new students are asking themselves when they first click that first button. How about the
person that has not been in a school setting in a number of years? If you have ever questioned
any of these, you have come to the right place. It seems that everyone has their mind set on
accomplishing something in there life. The difference now, is that a student has to have an
intentional mindset to become a successful in whatever area they are interested in. Before the
age of the computers people carried on face to face conversations. The connections people made
were relevant in so many ways that some may say that has been lost in technology. This is not
the debate, it is how far students are willing to forge what is not comfortable and bring it to a
level of relevance in their own lives. When I read the part of this book and we started to break
down what that really was my thinking changed. My learning patterns are Sequence (30) Precision

Disease Control And Prevention Starting Reporting Lyme...
Introduction
Since the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention starting reporting Lyme disease as a
reportable disease in 1991 it has been the most commonly reported vector borne illness is the
United States1. It should be noted that Lyme disease does not occur everywhere in the US, and is
heavily concentrated in upper Midwest and northeast United States1. This report has been compiled
to provide recommendations for prophylactic treatment of Lyme disease once a patient encounters a
tick bite.
Lyme disease is caused by the spirochete Borrelia burgdorferi, which is transmitted by Ixodes
dammini, otherwise known as the deer tick3. B. burgdorferi lives in the midgut of the deer tick,
and becomes active after a tick s gut is filled with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Serologic testing has not been proven to be effective in identifying B. burgdorferi. Antimicrobial
therapy has been at the forefront of research in trying to identify if prophylactic treatment is
necessary and what drug and dosing is most appropriate.
Antimicrobial Prophylaxis
In 1992 Shapiro et al. published their research informing providers prophylactic antimicrobial
treatment is not routinely indicated.2 There were a total of 387 patients in the controlled trial,
203 patients assigned to receive amoxicillin and 182 were given a placebo. Either 250mg of
amoxicillin or a placebo was given to subjects three times a day for ten days. 15 subjects dropped
out and 7 subjects had already shown positive serologic testing to B. burgdorferi and were
therefore dismissed from the study. Out of 173 subjects who received the placebo only two
developed symptomatic infection with B. burgdorferi; whereas, none of the 192 subjects who were
given amoxicillin showed any infection. They concluded the risk of actually becoming infected
with B. burgdorferi is so small that the prophylactic use of antibiotics does not make a clinical
significance and should not be used. The authors also indicated that most deer ticks are actually not
infected with B. burgdorferi, which may help explain why so little placebo subjects showed a
positive infection after their encounter.
While Shapiro et al. was not able to recommend antimicrobial prophylaxis with amoxicillin

The city of God tells the story of teenager s crime in the slums of Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, in
different time stages from 1960s to 1980s. The director shows an area full of violence s, sex,
crimes, from Rocket s perspective. Severe polarization of wealth, urban crime and youth gang are
revealed in urban slum due to the globalizations of this city. This movie leads to people to consider
two aspects of the issues from the movie. Those are the importance of education, and the influence
of the environments.
Urban slum and physical environment shaped a sharp contrast between the rich and poor. Social
abnormalities are reflected in this film, which are caused by the rapid development of Brazil s
economy. The slums in the city, the edge zones in the city, are the abominable products of the
process in rapid acceleration of urbanization. The people can be separated into two groups, which
are the high education group of citizens, and another group is the citizen with no knowledge. This
issue is the most significant reason for the gap between the rich and poor. The citizens who are high

Right to Believe in God
Do we have the right to believe in God? Are we rational in believing in God? In this essay I will
attempt to answer these two connected questions. In order to do this, I will first discuss the
concept of evidentialism, which criticizes or even condemns the belief in God. Then, I will try to
criticize evidentialism in the spirit of William James attack on it. Finally, I hope to provide some
answers to the two questions posed above.
Evidentialism holds that one should believe only that for which one has sufficient evidence. To
put it in W.K. Clifford s words, it is wrong always, everywhere, and for anyone to believe
anything upon insufficient evidence. Bertrand Russell defended a similar position with his true
precept of veracity that goes as follows: We ought to give to every proposition which we consider
as nearly as possible that degree of credence which is warranted by the probability it acquires from
the evidence known to us.
Evidentialism has permeated itself not only in philosophical inquiry but also in the public domain.
In fact, evidentialism is one of the most common tools used to criticize religion. Bertrand Russell,
upon being asked about what he would say if after death he were to be brought to God, said: Not
enough evidence God! Not enough evidence! Evidentialists state that being warranted by
evidentialist means mostly implies being warranted by the senses. In the modern Western culture
influenced by evidentialism, a reasonable theory must be

The Roles Of Women During The Mafia
Women are not usually discussed about when it comes to organized crimes and Mafias. They
are not always taken as seriously as their male counterparts. They are usually seen as the
emotional support for their men. They are viewed as passive onlookers. The women are seen as
victims of the male power, even though this plays along with the male stereotype. Women are
involved in organized crimes for a number of reasons. They could be involved out of greed, the
need to survive, or even to seek independence. There are even three stages to women being
involved in the Mafia. The three stages being part of a support system, then defending their men,
and the final stage being them becoming criminals. Griselda Blanco is a great example of a woman

Even women involved in Mafia related activities were not taken seriously when they were
arrested and taken to trial. They had a certain concept that the Mafia was conservative and
machoistic. Women were just seen as lacking the power to actually be in the Mafia. If a woman
was featured in the news of committing a Mafia crime then she was seen as some kind of mythical
creature, even if a male had committed the same crime. The youth and beauty of the women was
prominent. The cruelty and brutality of the crimes were emphasized.
Women started out being a support system for their mafia male counterparts then they ended up
becoming the leading protagonists. At first, women would help hide men and would help
manage the clans . They would help maintain contact and social relations. They were seen as
dependable figures. They would help bail out men. Women that were part of a religion were
viewed as being a respectable and revising image of the organization. There were two well known
groups of Mafia women and they were the Camorra and Cosa Nostra. Cosa Nostra was a Sicilian
organization. They were two completely different groups. The Sicilian Mafia women were loyal
and subordinate wives. They did not interfere with their husband s projects or decisions. They
would obey all of the husband s orders. The Camorra Mafia women were involved and aware of
their husbands activities. They

Summary Of Maggie A Girl Of The Street Sexism
He Can but She Cannot: The Harmful Effects of Sexism on Women
The idea of a sexual double standard emphasizes that men have more sexual freedom than their
female counterparts. According to Professor Derek Kreager, a sexual double standard is the
belief that women and men are held to different standards of sexual conducts in contemporary
society (Kreager 1). This concept is evident not only in modern society, but in the past as well.
Stephen Crane, an American author of the late 1800s helps prove this. He was extremely thorough
in making sure he wrote truthfully to the times he lived. With that in mind, in his novella Maggie:
A Girl of the Streets there is a clear sexual double standard. There is a strong presence of a sexual
double standard ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many would claim that men and women are treated exactly the same. This statement is
disproven in Maggie: a Girl of the Streets . This is obvious when Crane writes that, Pete did not
consider that he had ruined Maggie. If he had thought that her soul could never smile again, he
would have believed the mother and brother, who were pyrotechnic over the affair, to be
responsible for it (Crane 61). Pete never even considered the repercussions his actions would
have on Maggie. At first in the novella, Maggie was nervous about kissing Pete. When Pete slept
with Maggie he ruined her but he never would have considered her downfall to be his fault.
Since Pete had a higher status as a man and in general, he did not concern himself with what
would happen to Maggie. This reveals the sexual double standard because Pete did not even have
to think about his actions, while Maggie was forced to take responsibility for both of their actions.
Oakland University sociologist and anthropologist Heidi Lyons explains the overwhelming proof
that there is a sexual double standard. She reports that, Teenage boys who gain considerable sexual
experience do not run the same risk of being labeled deviant as do their female counterparts. More
specifically, young women who had a high number of sex partners were socially reprimanded
for their behaviors, and young men were rewarded. (Lyons 3). The young women in this study
are seen as socially inferior to the men and Lyons works to expose this fact. Since the men are
held on a pedestal they are not scolded or held responsible for their actions. The more confirmed
sexual experiences a woman has the lower she falls socially. The more experiences a man has the
higher he is held in esteem in today s society. This sexual double standard makes no sense at all.
The women are expected to stay

The project started in 1984 and took about 17 years to complete. The plan involved the city government, the land developer Mori Building Co., and the residents living in the construction area. Just to reach agreements with 500 right holders, the company had spent over 15 years ( Roppongi Hills. ). The concept of the renewal plan seems totally opposite from that of Jane Jacobs, but there is a point in the history of this Roppongirenewal plan that is equivalent to her philosophy. The site provides almost everything that a person needs for living and working in Tokyo. The most distinct feature of Roppongi Hills, however, is not their immense and luxurious looks, but the enormously long and complicated process to compete the project which may be unimaginable for Jane Jacobs. In 1986, TV Asahi Co., which owned the main part of the location, decided to make a new headquarters building there and consulted the Minato Ward Office and Mori Building Co. The Ward suggested that they should also redevelop the surrounding area since it was packed with wooden houses, small apartments, and condominiums with narrow streets which made it difficult for fire engines to come into the area in an emergency. After the district was officially designated as a redevelopment inducement area by Tokyo Metropolitan Government in the same year, Mori Building started to negotiate with the residents there. According to Mori Building, their first contact with the residents was totally unwelcoming. Most of the residents did not listen to them at all, but after their repeated visits at each resident s house at least once in two weeks, many of them had gradually opened their hearts and listened to what the developer said. The company explained to them that the plan was not a buyout. It s the joint reconstruction of their houses and apartments. The company opened an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Fathers Of The Family The fathers of the family were constantly out working in the fields, and the mother of the family would either be cleaning, taking care of infants, or cooking for her family. So, from the time children are able to walk, they have to discover ways to pass the time. Just like today, some activities were restricted due to the weather outside. For example, during the winter season pigs were being slaughtered. Children would go to the slaughterhouse and pick up the pigs bladders and blow them up like balloons. Also during the wintertime, it would snow. Just like children today, kids would go out in the streets and participate in snowball fights. When it was summery outside children would go to ponds or streams and have water fights with their friends or siblings, because during this time water fights were a popular form of recreation. Other forms of recreation were: fighting battles with wooden swords, competing in little play tournaments, and playing hide and seek. Chiara Frugoni noted in her book: We known more about medieval children s games ever since a whole collection of toys made of clay was discovered during the nineteenth century in Strasbourg, in the workshop of a thirteenth century potter: bird shaped whistles, miniature tiles and pitchers, tiny moneyboxes, little dolls, and diminutive horses with riders on their backs. (Frugoni, p. 131) Simultaneously, children during this period also had to learn. Children who were born into a poverty stricken ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

They also proposed that adolescents who are male, minority, and neglectvictims are at the greatest risk of being arrested for juvenile drug and alcohol offenses. This is concurrent with my position that neglected children are at an increased risk for juvenile delinquency. In the early study by Widom, the researcher followed children who had been abused and/or neglected approximately 25 years earlier through an examination of official criminal records, then compared them with a matched control group of children of the same age, sex, race, and approximate social class (Widom, 2017). The author conducted this research in a metropolitan county in the Midwest using cases of child abuse and neglect that came to the attention of the courts from 1989 through 1992. An assessment of criminal behavior found that early child abuse and neglect increased the risk of arrest as a juvenile by 55% and increased the risk of being arrested for a violent crime as a juvenile by 96%. • 11. Adventure Movies In Finding Nemo And The Wizard Of Oz One person may prefer comedy movies, while another person prefers horror films, but what if a movie s genre is ambiguous? Breaking down each movie into specific criteria helps determine which genre suits it best. Movie genres benefit viewers because they give each movie a title that breaks them down into general criteria that similar movies share, rather than describing specific details from the movie. The movies Finding Nemo and The Wizard of Ozare both examples of adventure movies. The first dynamic moment in the movie Finding Nemo is when Nemo swims over the drop off and the scuba diver catches him and brings him to an aquarium. Nemo s location change creates a conflict because he is no longer with his father in the ocean; he is on land. Throughout the course of the movie Marlin and Dory travel across a vast majority of the ocean and land in hopes of finding Marlin s son, Nemo. In The Wizard of Oz things change when a tornado strikes Dorothy s home in Kansas. She wakes up in an unfamiliar place with unfamiliar people. Dorothy travels through the Land of Ozto a known destination where the Wizard of Oz lives. Dorothy s goal is not to find anything or anyone and then leave happily. Dorothy hopes that when she meets with the Wizard, he will bring her back to her home in Kansas. In Anthem, the rules in the society depicted by Rand exist for control, and were initially created for equality but spiraled out of control into a world built on collectivism and backward teachings. The society Prometheus, or Equality, envisions in the final chapters of the novella would never have any of the rules in his past society, as he realizes through his journey that they are evil and damaging. I truly mean it when I say it was a great challenge. In only 2 months I completed 120 hours in an office that was only open 8 5 Monday through Friday. I know it may seem reasonable to others and you might even ask why that would be something so difficult for me to do but it was very tough. You see, I work my total of 40 hours a week at my current job and to add more hours to my schedule seemed pretty exhausting. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I not only learned about the procedures for child support but I also learned things that will help in any career that I decide to get into. I learned about proper communication skills. During my time at the office I watched how communication was very important. Our communication skills can help in many things and one major thing is to calm a person down, express compassion, give assurance. I witnessed several clients going into the offices very bothered and frustrated with their cases or some would even come in sad and disappointed but the office staff knew how to communicate properly with them and assure them of any concerns they had. Another thing I learned is multi tasking. The office was all about multi tasking and doing things fast. I realized that I need to work on my typing in order to type faster. Since I am interested in office work I do need to type faster than I do now. Regarding multi tasking, I had to document, file, and place in order all the paperwork for files that needed to be ready for court. I had to have over 4 programs open on my desktop to look for photos and files that needed to be printed and also programs where I had to notate what changes were done to the case or the latest update on the file. I also learned to proper documentation and filing. I had to constantly document any changes I made to each file. Each documentation was detailed and had to have a date the change was made, what was the change, and who made the change. I also learned the importance of confidentiality. During my time at the office they were very clear on how confidentiality is their number one priority. Due to keeping everything confidential, it was a major rule at the office that anyone who stood and left their office station must lock their computers. • 14. Analyzing Aircraft in Alaska Definition of terms There are several terms that geeky airplane folks use when discussing the properties and merits of airplanes. It is necessary to understand these terms when comparing airplanes. Some of the most commonly used are gross weight, useful load, and payload. Gross weight is the maximum aircraft weight when full with cargo and fuel. It can be dangerous to exceed gross weight because the airframe might not be able to handle the extra weight. Useful load is how much weight can be put in the plane including fuel. Payload is how much weight can be put in the plane after it is full of fuel. Some common terms used in describing bush planes are stall speed, STOL, ground roll, take off distance over 50 feet, and rate of climb. Stall speed is when the airplane stops producing enough lift to fly, and the airplane stops flying. STOL is an acronym for Short Takeoff and Landing. Ground roll is how many feet it takes for a plane to takeoff. Take off distance over 50 feet is how many feet it takes for a plane to take off from being stopped to climb 50 feet in the air. Rate of climb is how many vertical feet per minute, FPM, an airplane can climb. Description of airplanes The Piper Super Cub is one of the most popular aircraft in Alaska because it has STOL performance and is a cheap plane to buy and fly. It is cheap enough for even private pilots to own. It can accommodate only two people but ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Like most other immigrant communities in the United States, Sikhs have faced problems that are both specific to their community and that are also shared by other ethnic communities making their way in a new land. Despite their recent numbers and century long history in the United States, many of their fellow Americans know relatively little about Sikhs, their history, and their faith. A Sikh man, by design, stands out in a crowd with his turban and full beard. These outwardly shown symbols of faith make the Sikhs a special minority in the United States and throughout the diaspora s other host countries. The invasion of the Punjab by the British during the Anglo Sikh War in 1849 led to the annexation of the Punjab to Britain in March of that year. The ferocity and tenacity of the Sikh warriors greatly impressed the British, and the fierceness of the British earned the mutual respect from the Sikhs as well. The British considered the Sikhs a martial race , and Sikhs were allowed to enlist in the British Indian Army. At it s highest point, Sikh enlistment represented 33% of the British Indian Army, despite the fact that Sikhs only accounted for around 2% of India s total population.[4] Sikh regiments were eventually dispatched throughout the colonies of the British Empire. Many of these Sikh soldiers remained in the colonies after completion of their military duties. • 16. Comparing The Portrait Of Sally Fairchild By John Singer... For my term paper I decided to go to the Cantor Museum in Palo Alto, and I chose to focus on two portraits of women from two distinct time periods. First, I decided on the portrait of Margaret Blagge, Wife of Sidney, 1st Earl of Godolphin. This portrait was painted by the artist Matthew Dixon in 1675, in the Baroque period of art. The portrait of Margaret Blagge was done in England, and it was painted as an oil on canvas. The second artwork I chose to compare was the Portrait of Sally Fairchild by John Singer Sargent. This portrait was done from the year 1884 to 1887 during the Realism movement in art. The portrait of Sally Fairchild was painted in the United States of America, and was painted as an oil on canvas. In Matthew Dixon s painting, the Portrait of Margaret Blagge, the value falls under tenebrism. Chiaroscuro is the contrast between dark and light in a painting, and tenebrism is an extreme case of chiaroscuro, with a violent contrast between dark and light. Dixon was able to have Margaret Blagge stand out from the background by composing the whiteness of her skin directly next to the darkness of the background. By using tenebrism, Matthew Dixon was able to achieve a great deal of volume in his painting. Where the whiteness of Margaret Blagge s skin touches the darkness of the background it is as though she can be lifted out of her frame. John Singer Sargent s Portrait of Sally Fairchild, is different in comparison to Matthew Dixon s portrait, because there is not much chiaroscuro in it. The most evident contrast between dark and light is the transition from the shadows fallen on the left side of Sally Fairchild s body and her white skin. The contrast of shadow to the face helps create the volume of her chin against her neck. Both paintings are different, yet they both have a sense of volume, despite having used different ... What improvements and alterations do I need in order to be a step closer to success in the workplace? As a starting point, the self assessments provided by McGrawHill and the information from management class will provide a clearer picture of who I am in terms of leading, acquired needs, teamwork attitudes, global potential, and strategic thinking. From what I have gathered, the results relating to personalitywere accurate and the results relating to potential were surprising to me. With this information, I am able to produce and strengthen goals to improve. The survey results I am most satisfied with are acquired needs and global potential because a needfor achievement and potential for global managing are the two qualities I like the most about myself in terms of my future goals. The negative results that come as no surprise to me are teamwork and a need for power and affiliation. Although I was aware of these strengths and weaknesses, these self assessment tests put an emphasis and reminded me that I need to work harder in my attitude and behaviors when interacting/collaborating with people in the workplace. Whether I got good results or not, all of these qualities can be continuously worked on for improvement. The motivation to lead has 3 aspects: how you see yourself as a leader, how willing you are to lead on your own and how you respond to others ask you to lead (Chan and Drasgow, 2001). I scored high on my motivation to lead. This was one of the unexpected results since I don t find it easy to take initiative in leading; it requires a lot of communication and human skills (Kinicki, 2018, p23). In chapter 1 of Kinicki, motivating, directing and influencing people to work hard to achieve the organization s goals is the definition of leading. To make sure everyone in the organization is on the same page, one must be able to bring everyone together and resolve any obstacles that may come. Often referred to as the architect of the modern short story, Edgar Allen Poe paints a vivid picture of a seemingly insane man murdering his elderly roommate in the short story, The Tell Tale Heart ( Biography ). It is a great example of Poe s style, with the major themes being insanity, paranoia, and murder. The Tell Tale Heart is a short storywritten with the intent of focusing on the psyche of the main character. Since it is told from a first person point of view, the audience is able to see what the protagonist is thinking and how his plan of this murder develops ( Biography ). This story might just seem like a tale of insanity, guilt, and murder, but upon further examination, it is a tale of moral deficiency, superhuman ability, paranoia, and ironic dissemblance. In The Tell Tale Heart , Poe s use of the unreliable narrator is very well executed, because the lack of certain details adds to the suspense of this grim story. The reader is able to focus on the raw details of the murderous plot and the events that follow, in addition by leaving out certain details, it leads to some interesting questions. Who is the narrator s audience that he is confessing the details of his crime to? What is the disease that he speaks of in the beginning? Is guilt the main reason for his confession at the end of the story? Perhaps the most obvious question raised after reading The Tell Tale Heart, is whether the main character actually ... • 38. How Far Do You Agree That Socialist Realism Was Stalinв Ђ™s... Stalin had several methods of social control that gave him such a powerful rule in Russia that even today he still has supporters. Socialist Realism was an essential method to create this, although it was not the most important method of social control. Socialist Realism was the second most important method of social control as it was very effective, but not as effective as the Terror. Social Realism allowed Stalin to be portrayed in a positive light but it was also an attempt to use art forms to sell government economic and social policy to the Russian people. Artists were made to abandon their new methods and instead forced to create more traditional pieces of art, such as Roses For Stalin (Boris Vladimirski, 1949). This painting... This gave Stalin a greater power in Russia as anyone who was reluctant to follow him before had no choice but to obey him. Show trials were a crucial part of the Terror as they made many people fear the consequences of going against Stalin. In show trials, the aim was not to establish innocence or guilt as the guilt of the non Communists on trial were assumed guilty from the start. This would show the Communists as the only trustworthy party. However, in 1936, Communists were on trial such as Zinoviev and Kamenev. They were charged with the mysterious murder of Kirov, a considered threat to Stalin. Although they pleaded their innocence in jail, they were persuaded to confess. This portrayed Stalin as the only trustworthy member of the Communists and so, he should be leader. Moreover, the Terror was Stalin s most important method of social control as it forced people to follow him or face extreme consequences. The cult of personality was one of Stalin s most important methods of social control. Benefits of market segmentation include a better and fuller understanding of the market, the ability to predict customer behaviour with more accuracy and an increased chance of detecting potential market opportunities (Kotler and Cox, 1988). The total market is perceived to be made up of several smaller segments, each segment in some way different from the other. This enables businesses to identify which segments are appealing to them and they can then profitably target their products and services to these customer segments through their marketing (Meyer and Graham, 2015) Similarly (Tynan and Drayton, 1987) states that the aim of market segmentation is to identify market segments, or individual sets of customers, which would form targets for the company s future marketing plans. Literature Review In the recent years, there has been viable evidence that shows that other factors in the work environment may also be strong push factors for retention (Burns, Bradley and Weiner, 2012, pg.445). The factors that contribute to forcing workers to leave the public sector include: workload and staff shortages are contributing to burnout, high absenteeism, stress, depression, low morale, and de motivation (Burns, Bradley and Weiner, 2012, pg.445). It is also shown that poor working conditions also contributes to preventing staff morale and motivation and it also contributes directly to recruitment and retention (Burns, Bradley and Weiner, 2012, pg445). According to Burns, Bradley and Weiner (2012), one strategy being used to alleviate health worker shortages and to improve access and quality of health services is task shifting, or the delegation of tasks that would traditionally fall within the scope of practice of doctors or nurses to other health who have undergone shorter periods of training (Burns, Bradley and Weiner, 2012, pg.445). In so by implementing task shifting, the work load that all nurses have to handle on a daily basis is split up with easier duties falling on other health professionals with less experience. British merchants were not entirely reliant on trade to or from the Asian worlds so merely recorded how China received nothing but silver (Doc. 4) and the Portuguese use this to their good advantage in China . However, England could not remain completely unaffected as scholars such as Charles D Avenant observed. Luxury goods especially spices and silks have become prominent in European culture. While Europe draws from Asia nothing on solid use it has tasted of this luxury (Doc. 8) and it is not advisable for England to pull out of this silver trade. England could afford to remain more objective, but it could not pull out entirely. It had roots planted early on, and it would cause severe social disturbance to tear them up. Yet despite any conjectures drawn from accounts of scholars, merchants, officials and priests it is impossible to know the full extent of the economic and social effects of silver without the voice of the common people. It was the commoners, laborers, slaves, farmers and peasants which bore the full brunt of the trade. Their every day lives relied on day to day paychecks, which mandated how they survived. Evidentialism holds that one should believe only that for which one has sufficient evidence. To put it in W.K. Summary Of Maggie A Girl Of The Street Sexism He Can but She Cannot: The Harmful Effects of Sexism on Women The idea of a sexual double standard emphasizes that men have more sexual freedom than their female counterparts. According to Professor Derek Kreager, a sexual double standard is the belief that women and men are held to different standards of sexual conducts in contemporary society (Kreager 1). This concept is evident not only in modern society, but in the past as well. Stephen Crane, an American author of the late 1800s helps prove this. This statement is disproven in Maggie: a Girl of the Streets . This is obvious when Crane writes that, Pete did not consider that he had ruined Maggie. If he had thought that her soul could never smile again, he would have believed the mother and brother, who were pyrotechnic over the affair, to be responsible for it (Crane 61). Pete never even considered the repercussions his actions would have on Maggie. At first in the novella, Maggie was nervous about kissing Pete. When Pete slept with Maggie he ruined her but he never would have considered her downfall to be his fault. Since Pete had a higher status as a man and in general, he did not concern himself with what would happen to Maggie. This reveals the sexual double standard because Pete did not even have to think about his actions, while Maggie was forced to take responsibility for both of their actions. She reports that, Teenage boys who gain considerable sexual experience do not run the same risk of being labeled deviant as do their female counterparts. More specifically, young women who had a high number of sex partners were socially reprimanded for their behaviors, and young men were rewarded. (Lyons 3). The young women in this study are seen as socially inferior to the men and Lyons works to expose this fact. Since the men are held on a pedestal they are not scolded or held responsible for their actions. The more confirmed sexual experiences a woman has the lower she falls socially. The more experiences a man has the higher he is held in esteem in today s society. This sexual double standard makes no sense at all. The women are expected to stay ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
