The document discusses the color scheme and simplistic artwork used for Twenty One Pilots' Blurryface DVD set and tour poster. The colors black, white, and red are consistently used, as black is a common color in the indie genre. The simplistic designs are representative of the band and their focus on music, lyrics, and meaning over visuals. They want audiences to understand their music rather than focus on them. The color schemes may also relate to themes of mental health and issues faced by youth that are explored in their lyrics.

Book Formatting: Quality Control Checks for DesignersConfidence Ago
This presentation was made to help designers who work in publishing houses or format books for printing ensure quality.
Quality control is vital to every industry. This is why every department in a company need create a method they use in ensuring quality. This, perhaps, will not only improve the quality of products and bring errors to the barest minimum, but take it to a near perfect finish.
It is beyond a moot point that a good book will somewhat be judged by its cover, but the content of the book remains king. No matter how beautiful the cover, if the quality of writing or presentation is off, that will be a reason for readers not to come back to the book or recommend it.
So, this presentation points designers to some important things that may be missed by an editor that they could eventually discover and call the attention of the editor.
1. Twenty One Pilots - Blurry Face
The use of colour in this
DVD set is consistent set
of black, white and red.
The colour black is also
common of the indie
genre.
This is conventional of the genre, indie
bands like to be independent of others, or
different. They enjoy simplicity compared
to the pop genre, who use wide range of
visuals and designs. In line with this, ToP
keep its simple to express themselves.
The simplistic artwork is symbolic of
the artists. Tyler is associated with
the colour black in their music
videos, and Josh Dunn is associated
with the colour red for his red hair.
The band is known for caring more about
the music, meaning and lyrics than
themselves, which could be the reason
why they don’t put themselves on the
DVD or pack, but instead simple art. They
want their audience to understand the
music, not them. This is conventional of
indie bands who want to be different than
other genres.
The meaning behind their music is
commonly based on mental health and
issues that the current youth face is the
current time, and the colour black can be
associated with this feeling, whether it
be stress, depression of anxiety.
2. This tour poster has
a similar colour
scheme in the DVD
set, and follows the
same simplistic
idea.
The simplistic art may signify
their consistently change in
music, or genre. Although
they are mainly indie they
enjoy to mix their music up,
e.g. with pop. Each circle
may highlight a different
identity of the band.
The use of front for the poster is
also simple, conventional of the
genre. They don’t aim to have
flashy font, colours of images,
which is related to the DVD pack.
The patterned image in the
background may connote the
type of genre this album is, if you
link to the idea of the DVD’s pack
multiple aesthetic images
symbolising the genres they use.
