The Importance Of Leadership In Athletic Training
The research article uses a two phase, exploratory, non experimental research study to examine the
leadership competencies that are important for athletic training practice and education. The study
consists of a hundred and sixty one certified athletic trainers surveyed on the importance of leadership
competencies. The study found that no matter the setting there is evidence that leadership competence
is an important aspect to athletic training. According to Kutz, leadership is the ability to ethically
influence others toward accomplishing a goal or objective (2010). The survey of the certified athletic
trainers found that diagnosing context and people skills were the most important leadership behaviors
among athletic trainers. Diagnosing context is the practitioner s ability to identify changing
environments to determine appropriate care. The leadership competency of people skills help
practitioners diagnoses their context. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Kutz explained that everyone has a degree of leadership buried within that can be taught or found
through experience (2010).
The study describes the several positives outcomes associated with leadership in athletic trainers. The
positive outcomes include: leadership in others, credibility, new or strengthened relationships,
consensus, motivation, higher morale, dedication of followers, learning, mutual respect,
empowerment, critical thinking, positive change, innovation, creativity, a sense of direction and hope
for the future, stronger sense of community, personal growth, and satisfaction and contentment (Kutz,
2010). Leadership is an important skill for athletic trainers to have and can be used within different
fields of sports medicine including concussion

William Wilberforce Research Paper
Heroes have been around for centuries. From Joan of Arc who help win France s 100 year war to
Oskar Schindler, who saved over 1000 Jews from the Holocaust and countless
others. There are too many to talk about so I will focus on just one.
William Wilberforce was born August 24, 1759, in England, Kingston upon Hull to a wealthy family.
In his early life he was taken to live with his nonconformist relatives in
London, however, when he was 12 William s mother; Elizabeth Bird took him back to Hull. She
wanted him to be brought up in a traditional Anglican Church and did not want him to be
raised by nonconformist. When he was 18 he attended St. John s College, Cambridge, where he

He and others campaigned for the end of slavery in the British empire. During this time he said So
enormous, so dreadful, so
irremediable did the [slave] trade s wickedness appear that my own mind was completely made up for
abolition. Let the consequences be what they would: I from this time determined that I
would never rest until I had effected its abolition. When in parliment he tryed to get bills passed for 18
years that would free slaves and to eventally ebolish slavery. During this time he was
vehemently aposed by those making a fortion on slave trade.
On March 25, 1807 the Slave Trade Act abolished savery in the British colinies. However, this did not
stop slave trade in all the empire. He tried meny times to get parliment to
ban slavery in Great Briten but to no evail. But then close to the end of his life Wilberforce wrote one
last presintation to try and stop slavery once and for all in the empire. The debat to get
the bill passed lasted for 3 months. The 26th July, 1833 on the its therd reading the Abolition of
Slavery bill was passed. Just three days latter he died.
William Wilberforce is remembered as a hero for the abolition of slavery in the british

A Short Note On Opioid Control And Opioid Controlled Drug
Diamorphine is used for pain control and known as an opioid Controlled Drug [CD], acting by
blocking pain signals to the brain (BNF, 2015; NICE, 2016). Opioid medication is licenced for the
management of moderate to severe pain however, long term use can cause reliance of the drug yet
when used to treat a terminal illness, there are no restrictions (Knott, 2013; Nice, 2016). Morphine s
most common side effects include nausea and vomiting, sedation, constipation, hypotension and
sweating however, it can cause hallucinations which are important in the management of anxiety in
palliative care (Everyday Health, 2016; Mann Carr, 2009). Diamorphine causes less nausea and
hypotension than morphine and the focus in palliative care is pain management which is more
effective when avoiding pain, than in the relief of pain (Cancer Research UK, 2015).
Levomepromazine is Prescription Only Medication [POM] usually known as an antipsychotic drug
{tranquillizer} however, it can also be used as an antiemetic drug to control nausea and vomiting
(BNF, 2015; NHS Scotland, 2014). There are many antiemetic drugs used to treat nausea and vomiting
however, some work on the brain by stopping the stimulation of the vomiting centre, whilst others
work on the gut emptying the stomach contents at a faster rate (Macmillan Cancer Support, 2013). An
antiemetic drug is chosen according to the causes of the vomiting and in Jacobs s case it is a known
side effect of taking Diamorphine. The most common side

Nt1330 Unit 5 Exercise 1 Algorithm
In this section, we discuss the implementation of XXX and evaluate the performance of our proposed
algorithm with synthetic inputs in terms of 1) SFC request acceptance ratio, 2) backup resource
consumed by requests and 3) running time. For comparison, we implement a baseline method, where
for an SFC request which requires n VNF and has the availability requirement of _, we keep
increasing the number of backup for each VNF on all selected physical machines until each VNF can
have an availability of n p _. The statistics shown in this section are the average results.

Since telecom networks must be always on, it is critical to guarantee network service availability with
the minimum amount of resources. In this paper, we presented XXX, our approach to provisioning
availability in NFV. XXX provides a suite for service providers to concisely describe a data center
topology and estimate the downtime distribution of a mapped SFC request. To reduce the running time
of XXX, we further proposed an optimization framework which estimates the minimum amount of
backup resources required to meet heterogeneous availability requirements and showed an heuristic
solution with a theoretical bound. Through evaluation with data from production data centers, we
demonstrated the effectiveness and efficiency of our solutions. For the future work, we are expanding
our optimization framework to enable expedited estimations of the backup resource needed under
other models of VNF. On the other hand, the downtime estimation accuracy is heavily dependent on
the accuracy of the failure and repair distribution of each layer, including both hardware and software.
Therefore it is important to analyze system log data, extract and model them using appropriate general

Essay Use of Digressions in Beowulf
The author of Beowulf cleverly uses digressions throughout the work in order to foreshadow events or
give more insight on a situation. Some digressions may be used as guidance in how to live one s life.
The digression on page fifty two in lines 884 through 914 of Beowulf in The Norton Anthology:
English Literature Volume A, the entertainer who is singing in Beowulf s honor after he slew the
monster Grendel. To the characters of Beowulf, the song is simply entertainment, but to the reader it is
foreknowledge of future events that will unfold as the story continues. The digression is used to hint to
Beowulf s fight with the dragon, becoming king, and tell what kind of king Beowulf will not be in the
future. The digression begins as a story ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For the well being of his people, Beowulf should have let his warriors fight the dragon in his place in
order to win the hoard. Even though Beowulf gains all the treasures of the dragon hoard, his people
suffer a greater loss from his death. Beowulf s death would lay out the welcome mat for eager
conquerors to come and attack his land. However, like Sigemund, Beowulf s glory will always remain
and grow with his death. On the other hand, the digression tells of another king, King Heremod, who
has the opposite characteristics of Beowulf. King Heremod lost his prowess and values that make a
good leader which would lead to his being conquered and killed by the Jutes. King Heremod was
every aspect that Beowulf was not and would not be when he became king; Beowulf retains his
courage and becomes an exceptional leader for his nation. The story of King Heremod could also be
used as a warning to Beowulf that he should always stay brave and never let his power decline.
Heremod was unsuccessful in fulfilling the responsibilities of a king to his country; therefore, as the
poem says in lines 903 through 905, he was a burden on his warriors, nobles, and people. He let his
own interest and grief overpower his responsibilities. Beowulf would prove to always do what he feels
fit to protect and benefit his people. Beowulf, unlike King Heremod, would not fall the normal evils of
men. Beowulf s only fault is he is too eager

Analysis Of The Story Ancestors-The Genetic Source
Cultural Diversity Ancestors The Genetic Source and Why My Mother can t speak English are two
both entirely diverse cultural up in immigrants. In both stories there are similarities and differences. In
both stories how people who migrated to Canada bring their language, beliefs and cultural background
or tradition. In the story Ancestors The Genetic Source by David Suzuki, has no attachments or
connections to his culture more to the point of his family bonds. In the story Why My Mother can t
speak English by Garry Engkents, his mother did not want to abandon her Chinese heritage. Together,
both stories shows comparable viewpoints of a Canadian citizen and a non citizen but lived in Canada
for a long time.

Engkent s mother had certain beliefs. Staring at the judge, my mother remarks: Noi yren. The judge
shows interest in what my mother says, and I translate in she says you re a woman.... if she is going to
examine me, mother tells me, I might as well start packing for China. Sell my house. Dig up you
fathers bones, and I ll take them back with me (Garry Engkent). This quote shows that his mother is
used to the Chinese culture and thinks that a girl does not have the power to do anything over a man.
However, her thought as a Chinese immigrant was proven wrong when she received her citizenship
from a woman. In comparison, when Suzuki visited Japan with his wife Tara, who is English, he had
trouble booking a room at a hotel. We asked a man at the travel bureau to book a Ryokan a traditional
Japanese Inn for us in Tokyo. He found one and booked it for Suzuki san and off we went. When we
arrived at the inn and I entered the foyer, the owner was confused by my terrible Japanese...because of
my name he expected a real Japanese instead, I was a gaijin and the owner told us he wouldn t take us
(David Suzuki). In this quote, the owner did not give them a room at the Inn because he had a bad
experience with the gaijin. For example, Japanese always takes their shoes off when they enter a
ryokan, but Suzuki did not do that, that s why the owner was disappointed in the beginning; Japanese
think that entering a room with shoes will be compared to a person entering homes and spitting on the
door . This shows that Suzuki growing up in Canada he does not know Japanese s beliefs. However, in
Engkent s mother s case she follows the Chinese beliefs even though she is living in Canada for more

Gene Cloning And Bacterial Transformation
Introduction: In this lab, gene cloning and bacterial transformation was conducted. Bacteria are single
celled microorganisms. They are simple in structure and have no nucleus with linear chromosomes.
Bacteria are essential to life, and reproduction of other bacteria which helps play a role in
decomposition of organic matter and the cycling of elements such as nitrogen and carbon, which are
elements necessary to live. Due to this, plants and animals can use nitrogen to create nucleic acids
along with amino acids, which are the essential building blocks of DNA. They also help break down
food in the digestive system, which allows us to obtain the nutrients we need, and bacteria helps
develop our immune system to fight other illnesses that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The bacterium being observed was E. coli, which codes for green fluorescent protein. E. coli is a
bacterium that normally lives in the intestines of humans and animals alike, and can cause infection.
One hopes to observe a glow from a green fluorescent protein (GFP) which is typically made by a
jellyfish. This will be made possible by the additional presence of arabinose, which acts as the
inducing agent. The inducing agent influences the transcription of the GFP and activates the
transcriptional promoters. A promoter allows a foreign gene to fall into place much easier resulting in
gene expression. It is expected that the combination of the plasmid, with the Lysogeny Broth (LB) and
the arabinose (ARB) will transform the bacteria, and allow for growth of the bacteria in the presence
of the antibiotic ampicillin (AMP) along with an observable glow under ultraviolet (UV) light.
Hypothesis:
The Agar plate with the LB/AMP/ARB in the +pGLO will be the only plate to display growth and a
glow when compared to the other agar plates.

Compare And Contrast Illinois State University
Nelson Mandela once said, Education is one of the most powerful weapons that you can use to change
the world. To change the world is why I want a good college education, so for the last few months I
have been visiting colleges that I was considering to transfer to, Illinois State University(my top
choice), Eastern Illinois University(my second choice), and Western Illinois University(my 3rd
choice). I chose to highlight the major differences between Illinois State University and Western
Illinois University just to show how much they contrast. I selected to attend Illinois State University
because it exceeds Western Illinois University in three ways which are, Campus/Location, academics,
and the atmosphere.
Illinois State University has a better city and campus than Western Illinois University. On my way

there was and how they presented a more serene environment. On the other hand, Western Illinois
University had an abundantly rigid atmosphere and I felt like it wasn t good for me. Walking around
the Illinois State University campus there were numerous people I saw that were wearing the Illinois
State University colors, and that showed me they had pride in their school. By the same token,
Western Illinois University did not have a large number of people who were wearing the school colors
which struck me as odd because the majority of the colleges that I have visited had a myriad of people
in their school colors. The atmosphere at Illinois State University seemed more active to me which I
felt would give me an academic edge that could push me over the top. Western Illinois University did
not really make me feel like I could do well there. At the end of the day I went with what I felt was the

Discuss the reasons why the Bolsheviks had achieved so little by 1914
Despite being the main opposition to the Tsar in Russia at the time, the Bolsheviks failed to make any
significant progress in their aims to overthrow the Tsarist autocracy, due to many problems throwing
the party in to crisis, with their efforts to influence the proletariat to revolt against the Tsar proved to
be failed attempts. In order to come out with a fair and balanced conclusion, it is necessary to look at
the opinions of historians from both ends of the spectrum: from the sympathetic Soviet historians, to
the more critical opinions of the Western historians, and then lastly looking at the more balanced and
neutral views ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the light of this, the tsar brought out a law stating that no law could be passed without his
permission. The Okhrana, the Tsar s secret police, were another obstacle for the Bolsheviks, as due to
the large scale membership of the Mensheviks, Lenin became wary of a large party due to suspicion
from the Okhrana, as the Tsar was clamping down on any form of revolutionary party. It was this that
made Lenin think that the best way to move forward was with a small, tight knit party of professional
revolutionaries. However this still did not help as Lenin and his party were forced into exile during the
early 1900 s due to scares from the Okhrana and the autocracy. The newest problem the Bolsheviks
would have to overcome was how would they be able to dictate affairs in Russia while in exile? The
Soviets argue the answer by stating that Lenin was relaying messages back to Russia in hope of
stirring up revolution. Another reason for the lack of achievement was Stolypin s land reforms which
they allowed the peasants to opt out of the Mir, thus, in a way, diminishing the need for an uprising.
The land bank was then established so they could buy their own land, and this encouraged
resettlement and Stolypin hoped to create a class of Kulaks. This

A Study On New Orleans Essay

For more than two centuries, coffee has been a fundamental part of the culinary and social culture of
New Orleans.
It s not just the city s penchant for chicory café au lait served alongside warm beignets. Nor is it just
landmark gathering spots like Café du Monde and or Morning Call Coffee Stand that spawned the
notion of the laborers coffee break and served locals and tourists for generations.
And it isn t solely boozy Café Brulôt, the brandy spiked coffee drink New Orleans families serve in
slender china cups that makes
New Orleans a true coffee town.
Alongside these the gustatory expressions is the city s historic and longstanding role in the coffee
trade. New Orleans has been a significant coffee port for more than 200 years. Since the early 19th
century, import companies have brought in green coffee beans from around the world through the Port
of New Orleans. Today, it is the second largest coffee port in the country.
Among those importers, Westfeldt Brothers Inc. is one of the oldest of its kind in the United States.
The company was first founded in
Mobile, Alabama, in 1851 by Swedish Vice Consul Gustavus Adolphus
George Westfeldt, who had immigrated to the U.S. in 1835. Westfeldt moved to New Orleans in 1853.

The Mohammed And The Prophet
Also, in a longer hadith, the Prophet (pbuh) said that the salah (prayer) is a light, and charity is a
proof, and patience is illumination. In one hadith from al Bukhari and Sahih Muslim, it is reported that
the Prophet (pbuh) said, None of you [truly] believes until he loves for his brother that which he loves
for himself. In another hadith, the Prophet said Let him who believes in Allah and the Last Day speak
good, or keep silent; and let him who believes in Allah and the Last Day be generous to his neighbour;
and let him who believes in Allah and the Last Day be generous to his guest. In another hadith, a man
asked the Prophet (pbuh) for counsel and the Messenger (pbuh) answered several times by saying Do
not become angry. From 40 Hadith Nawawi 24, the Prophet is reported saying that God said, O My
servants! I have forbidden dhulm (oppression) for Myself, and I have made it forbidden amongst you,
so do not oppress one another. In another from Sahih Muslim, the Prophet (pbuh) said, Do not envy
one another, and do not inflate prices for one another, and do not hate one another, and do not turn
away from one another, and do not undercut one another in trade, but [rather] be slaves of Allah and

Elegy For My Father Poem Analysis
Diaspora is a loaded expression that evokes diverse challenging thoughts and images. This term may
also be regarded as a synonym of dislocation, multiplicity, cultural conflicts, and marginalized
subjects who reside on the periphery of two different lands. Sudesh Mishra delineates this notion as
dual territoriality since the subject has to contend with conflicts which are produced as a result of a
life between hostland and homeland . According to Mishra, suspended between two such terrains
(living without belonging in one, belonging without living in the other), diasporas are seen to
represent a new species of social formation (16). Further in his book, Mishra confers the dichotomous
notion of the subject being split between two worlds, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this poem an association between memory and faith can be seen in the lines memory believes and
can knowing remember? (16). In Elegy For my Father , being the oldest of the three children,
Alexander is beckoned by the priests to cover her dead father s eyes. This moment makes her think
about the futility of life, If this is the end of life,/ . . . .what use are gnanam, /dhanam, kavya? (15). She
reminisces certain poignant moments spent with her father. Being a loudmouthed teenager , Alexander
asks her father, Do you love me? and gets a reply some things need not be said (13). It is a powerful
poem highlighting a daughter s deep love and admiration for her father who is no more. Whenever
Meena Alexander feels bewildered and dislocated in her postcolonial world of experience, she finds
great solace in the lucid and frank centrality of her father s vision of life ( Krishnakumari 126). Her
father believed in leading an orderly life, and in keeping one s emotions under firm control. Concrete
and precise descriptions can be seen in Alexander s poems, such as when she describes the red fabric
melting into metal teeth while her mother sews a tear in her child s shirt, in the poem Reading Rumi as

delicate recovery the United States economy has undertaken over the past several years. As in the

health insurance has been shown to be the top burden facing small business owners in America.

As for the Acquisitions, the tracts had to be tied and add the location information needed to be entered.

As you can see from this graph, 66% of sports injuries occur in the form of diving accidents, while I
am part of the 3.8% of snow skiing accidents.
Now that I have shared a brief overview of the spinal cord and some statistics about spinal cord
injuries, we will look at the past research that has led to the treatments most commonly used today. In
1990, a steroid called dexamethasone was discovered in human trials to preserve some motor and
sensory function if administered at high doses within 8 hours of injury. Surgery used to remove fluid,
tissue, or bone fragments, or to stabilize fractured vertebrae by fusing bones or inserting hardware has
also proven to be one of the most thorough measures to prevent further harm. I received both of these
treatments after my accident, and they are the same that have been used for the past decade. Until
recently, doctors had no way of limiting such disabilities, aside from stabilizing the cord to prevent
added destruction, treating infections, and prescribing rehabilitative therapy to maximize any
remaining capabilities.
Within the past few years, however, scientists have made many new advancements. The United States
Food and Drug Administration has approved 2 electronic systems that regulate muscles by sending
electrical signals through implanted wires, called functional electrical stimulation (FES). Some
proteins have been found to promote nerve growth and restore limb function and sensation when

Analysis Of The Poem Maus My Father Bleed History Essay
The curiosity of Artie about Vladek saying that Anja was not pretty, during the fight between Vladek
and Lucia, incites Artie to interrupt Vladek s story of the past. The interruptions that Art Spiegelman
writes into his comic, Maus My Father Bleed History, breaks up Vladek s story about surviving the
Holocaust, which is what happens in the scene with Vladek and Lucia s fight. Spiegelman uses the
interruptions of Vladek s story to lead out of it and then back into Maus to assist in clarifying
information for the reader, to show the father son relationship between Artie and Vladek, and also to
explain how Maus was written.
The incidents that Spiegelman uses within his panels and text work as a way to give insight into how
Artie and Vladek s father son relationship works. A case in which Artie and Vladek s relationship is
shown is right after Vladek tells Artie the story about Lucia and he says, But this is what I just told
you about Lucia and so I don t want you should write this in your book (Spiegelman 23). To help
interrupt Vladek s story Spiegelman makes the panel in which this dialogue takes place have no
border around it, which gives the panel a sense of breaking up the story that Vladek was telling to
Artie. Vladek interrupting his story shows that while he felt this was important information for Artie to
know, he does not want it in the comic. Thus this story being in the comic along with Artie s reaction
in the comic show the reader the differing views and the

Reasons Why College Athletes Should Be Paid
I believe that college athletes should be paid for many reasons. One reason why they should get paid is
because they put themselves on the line. They also put on an incredible show for the people so that
means more money. The third explanation why these athletes should be paid is because they would
help begin a sense of financial awareness. Another statement of why they should get paid is because
this is the main way that colleges get money. The last and final explanation on why these athletes
should get paid is because they work harder than regular students. All these reasons are why they
should get paid. First of all, many of the athletes put themselves on the line and they put an incredible
show for the people so that means more money. A college athlete may get a scholarship to go to a
college to be able to play sports, but what would happen if they get hurt or cuty from a team. They
might lose their dream of becoming something big in life or they might not accomplish a dream they
wanted to be successful in. These athlete s career can end any second and they do it for the people.
According to Marc Edelman he states that Not only do they miss class, but they are absent for
nationally televised games that make a lot of money and receive millions of viewers . These means
that these athletes are missing their school time to make an entertaining event for millions of viewers.
These athletes are the main cause of why these people want to got to a certain

Analyzing The Poem Barter By Sara Teasdale
Analysis In the poem Barter by Sara Teasdale uses the symbol of bartering to represent the loveliness
of life. For most of the poem, the poet shows the things in life that people should be able to enjoy
throughout their lifetime, but to achieve that state of euphoria, a person will have to go through trials
and hardships. Throughout the poem Teasdale uses rhyme scheme adding to her lyrical tone. Teasdale
also uses alluring sensory language to attract the readers, and exaggerate the beauty of the world.
Having the ability to create such a masterpiece, Teasdale was also able to take that masterpiece and
use it to teach a valuable lesson, in which every detail meant something. The first stanza of the poem
starts out by almost as if it were setting the scene using the sense of peacefulness and admiration to
introduce the concept of what Teasdale is trying to portray. Life has loveliness to sell, All beautiful
and splendid things, Blue waves whitened on a cliff, Soaring fire that sways and sings, And children s
faces looking up Holding wonder like a cup. The first two lines are vital to the poem, because it opens

Like a curve of gold, suggests that life is valuable by using the word gold, not only that but it is
comparing life to music. In the tenth line of the poem, Teasdale uses the word you which makes the
poem more personal to the reader. In the last two lines of the stanze it talks about a person s spirit and
uses the word holy. Both of these lines show the philosophical and psychological perspective of life s
blessings. Focusing on the peace of mind, soul, and the world in general, Teasdale used this stanza to
acknowledge all perspectives of the contentment people should feel at some point in their lives

Music Compare and Contrast
Since the beginning of time, many bands and artists have helped shape the way people live. Thirty
Seconds to Mars, with lead singer Jared Leto, is a very successful pop rock band. Starting in 1998, the
members of this band did not have it easy. Neither did Ludwig van Beethoven who grew to be one of
the most successful composers of all time. Taking in the world and challenges around them, both of
these artists overcame many obstacles to become what they are known for. Their fans have followed
and have been inspired by them. The band Thirty Seconds to Mars and Ludwig van Beethoven came
from two different eras and have rough times in their youth but overcame to succeed in the music
world. [Ludwig] Beethoven s father, Johann, left many ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Mozart saw him perform he exclaimed, Keep your eyes on him; some day he will give the
world something to talk about. This great artist was right, but shortly after coming to Vienna,
Beethoven rushed back home for his mother fell ill. She died a few months later which sent her son
into depression. The depression however, did not last and Beethoven continued carrying on as a young
musician. In 1790, Beethoven, just 19 years old, received a remarkable honor of composing a musical
memorial for the death of the Holy Roman Emperor Joseph II. With no reasons known, this piece was
never played. However, more than a century later, Johannes Brahms discovered that Beethoven had in
fact composed a beautiful and noble piece of music entitled Cantata on the Death of Emperor Joseph
II. It is now considered his earliest masterpiece ( Biography ). Just under two decades old, this man
was pronouncing himself in the world. As Mozart said before, he was giving the world amazing music
to talk about. It took the band Thirty Seconds to Mars and lead singer, Jared Leto a little longer to give
the modern day world music to talk about. The band took a year to find a studio to support them. In
1998, the band signed a contract with Immortal and Virgin. Their first album was set to be released in
2002, but before that the band, Puddle of Mud, asked for them to join their six week tour around the

Teamwork And Fight For The Music Industry I Knew That It...
Perseverance: 30 Seconds to Mars
When I first began working in the music industry I knew that it was a cutthroat business. From the
growing competition all the way down to the tight deadlines, I knew that a career in this field would
be something that everyone has to fight for. I always admired the people in the industry who fought
for the rights of their creativity and stood up to the big name corporations that casted a shadow over
this industry. One particular group of artists that I ve admired for years now because of this is the band
30 Seconds to Mars. It was through 30 Seconds to Mars that I learned to always fight for my own
creativity and fight for what I believe is truly right. After a successful worldwide tour that lasted
nearly two years, the band had returned home to Los Angeles to work out a new contract with their
label Virgin Records/EMI. However, when the band began to renegotiate new terms; the company hit
30 Seconds to Mars with a $30,000,000.00 lawsuit (Cubbins, 2012). According to Billboard reporter
Ayala Ben Yehuda (2008), the record company decided to sue the band for not delivering three of the
five albums that were established under the band s previous contract. Not only did the band face a
huge lawsuit, but the company also cut off all their financial resources until the band gave in to their
demands. Instead of giving up and taking the short end of the stick, 30 Seconds to Mars took it upon
themselves to fund and build their own home studio for

Critiquing A Qualitative And Quantitative Study
Critiquing of a Qualitative and Quantitative Study The purpose of this paper will be to present the
contrasts in the type of information that was gained while reviewing two studies. The studies reviewed
were a qualitative study and a quantitative study. The general advantages and disadvantages of the two
types of studies will also be presented. Qualitative and quantitative studies both have a place in
research, even though the two study designs take a very different approach to research. Lastly, a
response will be given in support of the qualitative research being beneficial to the world of science.
Contrasts in Qualitative versus Quantitative Research
The qualitative study by Madigan, Fleming, McCann, Wright, and MacAuley (2007), explored the
general practitioner s (GPs) knowledge, attitudes, and skills related to enteral feeding in the
community. A qualitative study is subjective and focuses on describing a problem or a condition from
the point of view of those who have experienced the problem or issue (Pilot Beck, 2012). The
information in the study was more in depth, less generalizable while using a smaller sample size. The
sample size is based on informational needs. When saturation has been achieved, there are no more
occurring themes and redundancy is present, the researchers can stop looking for participants. Semi
structured one on one interviews were the method of choice when conducting this study. Open ended
questions were used during the interview

Essay on Women Authors of the 19th Century
Women Authors of the 19th Century
Some of the most influential women authors of all time lived in the 19th century. These women
expressed their inner most thoughts and ideas through their writings. They helped to change society,
perhaps without knowing it, through poetry, novels, and articles. Emily Dickinson, Harriet Jacobs,
Kate Chopin, Louisa May Alcott, and Elizabeth Oakes Smith are the best known controversial and
expressive women authors of their time.
On December 10, 1830 a poet was born. When Emily Dickinson was born in Amherst, Massachusetts,
no one knew that she was to become the most well known woman poet of all time. She loved her
family deeply. Her father was a man of great reverence in Amherst and her mother was an ... Show

Dickinson s poems are timeless and will always leave one bewildered and amazed. Harriet Jacobs was
born in North Carolina in the early 1800s. Jacobs never realized she was a slave until her mother died
when she was six. Jacobs then moved in with her grandmother and her white mistress. The mistress
died when Jacobs was eleven, and she was then sent to Dr. James Norcom. Jacobs suffered physical
and sexual abuse from Dr. Norcom for numerous years, and she became involved with a white
neighbor, Samuel Sawyer, simply so she could stay away from Norcom. They had two children
together, Joseph and Louisa. Joseph was born when Jacobs was only sixteen years old.
In 1835, Jacobs escaped from Norcom and went into hiding for seven years. In an attempt to get
Norcom to sell her children, Jacobs wrote numerous letters to him, mentioning that she had escaped to
the North. She thought Norcom would sell her children if he thought she wasn t coming back, but that
never happened. In 1842, Jacobs made her escape to the North and managed to have her daughter,
Louisa, sent to Brooklyn to be with her. They then moved to Rochester to escape Norcom, who was
looking for her, and joined a circle of abolitionists that worked for Fredrick Douglass s newspaper,
The North Star.
In 1853, her employer bought her from Norcom s family, thus releasing her

Gay Marriage Should Be Legal
A gay couple from Indianapolis who have waited to marry for years have been quoted as saying: We
re positive because the mindset in this nation seems to be that it is unconstitutional to say that our
marriages are different from any other marriage. (pro con,1) This means that gay people are staying
optimistic. Prohibiting gay marriage is considered discrimination to gays because the government is
not giving homosexual couples the same rights as gay heterosexuals, which is also unconstitutional.
Therefore, same sex couples should have access to the same marriage benefits and public
acknowledgment enjoyed by heterosexual couples. (pro con,1)
Opponents believe that same sex marriage is not right and you should be ashamed to be that way.
While proponents say same homosexual couples should be able to publicly celebrate their
commitment in the same way as heterosexual couples do. (pro con,1) Many gay and lesbian couples
want to marry because they are in love! Just because someone loves the same sex, does not mean they
are different or love any different then heterosexuals. In fact, the Family Research Council shows
statistics that gay and lesbians couples are proven to last longer and that they are much happier then
heterosexual couples. (pro con) They want to honor their relationship in the best way that society has
to offer. They are making a public commitment to stand with each other in good times and bad, they
are prepared to go through the joys and challenges life brings

Should Witnesses Be Allowed To Testify For A Jury Essay
There have been more than 2,000 false convictions in the past twenty three years. Witnesses should
not be allowed to testify for a defendant that they know personally. The witness should not be allowed
to know the defendant personally because witnesses are a huge part in court cases and memories can
easily be changed, witnesses can lie, they can t always be credible, and it is hard to testify against
close friends.
Witnesses make a huge impression on a jury and the only way to have a truly honest witness is if the
are a neutral witness and have no stake in the result. One way witnesses are important in court cases
is, Witness testimony can make a deep impression on a jury, which is often exclusively assigned the
role of sorting out credibility ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Such as, perjury is a crime, because lying under oath can subvert the integrity of a trial and the
legitimacy of the judicial system. However, perjury is defined as knowingly making a false statement
merely misremembering is not a crime. (Engelhardt 2)No one could blatantly lie during their
testimony, or they would be guilty of perjury, but if someone the defendant knew was the witness, the
defendant could put false information into the witness s mind, which would be classified as
misremembering. Another huge part in court cases is the credibility of the witness. Credibility is
believability or trustworthiness. If a witness s testimony and demeanor convinces you that he/she can
be trusted, then that witness is credible.(Goguen 5) Witnesses that are friends of the defendant do not
have much credibility because they are not trustworthy due to the fact that they would be bias towards
their friend. A witness in a criminal case is someone who testifies at a court hearing because they
observed and/or have direct knowledge of a crime or significant event. (Types of witnesses in a

knowledge would have been altered based on the information their friend had told

Analytical Analysis Of Wes Anderson s Moonrise Kingdom
Analytical Paper on Moonrise Kingdom From the moment you turn on a Wes Anderson movie, you
can easily recognize it s his due to the unique style. Moonrise Kingdom is one of his most popular and
stylized films to date. One scene in particular I want to look into is the scene when Scout Master Ward
and the other scouts are introduced. (5:31 8:39) This scene is important to setting up the rest of the
movie. It introduces us to the antagonists for the first part of the film as well as showing that Sam ran
away from the camp. The opening shot to the scene tells you everything about the location. The
wooden sign lets you know right away that they re in a boy scout camp, while the sign also works as a
frame around the tents in the background. (5:31 5:42) Then it cuts to Scout Master Ward exiting a tent
and going about his daily business. From the moment his character is introduced, you can tell that he s
in a position of power. (5:42 5:55) This claim is further supported when all the characters are sitting at
the breakfast table, and Scout Master Ward sits in the middle. (7:43 7:53) Most films may have Scout
Master Ward sitting at the head of the table, however with the way this scene is shot, it makes sense
that he be in the exact middle to show his power dynamic.
All the colors in the scene have an earthy tone, meaning there is a lot of browns, dark greens and
yellows. This works because they re supposed to be at a boy scout camp, and are learning to be
experts in the

Fetus Should Not Have Rights
The fetus cannot possibly have rights because the fetus cannot be determine as a complete human and
no statics can back up 100% when human life begins without a doubt. We all assume we know but we
don t. It s our own opinion; therefore, we cannot determine the laws and rights on our opinion but we
can determine it on the fact that the mother is a human begin and has lived up the life. Besides the
fetus depends on the mother at all time during the pregnancy and after birth. The mother is the one
who is going to have to feed the child, clothes the child and change the child s diapers. The child
could not possibly do all of those things by itself; therefore, the child depends 100% at all times on the
mother. That is why the mother deserves those rights and need safety procedures if she decides to ...

Therefore, it is only right for the mother to have the right to determine what it is she wants without all
the negative perspective. No one is pointing fingers and saying it is anyone s fault, life happens that s
it. Of course the innocent unborn child should not have to pay for the crime of another but why should
the woman be remind every single day of what happened due to having the child. Not to mention why
would anyone want to be a child of a rapist or incest, also genetic runs deep who knows what if the
innocent child was to grow up and become its father the rapist or incest and repeat history, are pro life
supporters willing to take that risk and let that happen to someone else because that one would be on
them. Yes it is the state s reasonability to protect the rights of its citizens but the fetus is unborn
therefore it cannot possibly be a citizen. Abortion is legal because the government wants to protect the
rights of the woman and let them have a safe procedure instead of putting them at risk. Sure abortion
is murder but that isn t for pro life to determine what should happen to the

Designing AApplication Using And.net And The...
In the past applications were monolithic, and were built on a single stack such as .Net or Java and ran
on a single server. There is no way to get around building distributed software in today s market. Just
think about the software out there today. The market consist of many different variations of
architecture tier an application may have such as an UI tier, caching tier, application tier, and
persistence tier such as SQL or table logging.
Multiple components may spread across machines today. Software will have associated dependencies
and these component dependencies can be in conflict. One component might be dependent on a

It will be wasteful to have the same execution environments even though they have different scale
characteristics. Developers also deal with test and production to move throughout the development life
cycle.
Since developers are increasingly building distributed operating systems, the way to deal with
complexity is using the concepts of containers. Containers are a native OS construct that provide light
weight isolation. In Linux there is a concept that is comprised of different sub concepts. There are
namespaces that provide isolations for user database, processes and IP addresses. Think of a container
as hosted on top of an Linux OS and it gets its own database, processes and IP addresses. It also gets
cgroups which governs resources. They make sure that not one container is using all the resources but
it shared all the way across. Each container gets a read write view such a Union File system. These
three make up the idea of a container.
Containers assist developers in making software portable. The software looks the same everywhere
you deploy and run it. Also developers will not need to install the app dependencies on user s host.
Once you have a distributed system that consist of different pasts, then the different parts can be
hosted in that container.
Docker containers not just an application but

The Themes Of Professor Marston And The Wonder Woman
Professor Marston and the Wonder Women tells a bold and provocative story about psychologist and
college professor William Moulton Marston (Luke Evans), and the behind the scenes realities which
led to his conceiving of, and authoring an initial run of comic books, introducing his creation of
Wonder Woman to readers of all ages in the 1940s.
Prior to that, years before, Marston claimed to be the inventor, along with wife Elizabeth (Rebecca
Hall), of the first ever legitimate polygraph, or lie detector machine. The Marstons found that when a
participant in the test told a lie, their systolic blood pressure would change, measured by a bar which
wrapped around the chest of the individual receiving the test. Wonder Woman fans may recall that the
superhero brandishes a lasso, which when wrapped around the chest of a foe, compels them to tell the
truth.
However, other reasons were in play when we see children s author and psychologist Josette Frank
(Connie Britton) grilling Marston over the themes and concepts found in his comic book series in the
mid 1940s. In flashback, we learn how Marston worked as a college professor and researcher,
alongside his wife, selling his DiSC theory, positing that people express human emotions in four types
of ways, through Dominance, Inducement, Submission, and Compliance.
Written and directed by Angela Robinson, Professor Marston gets the unconventional structure of the
story out of the way early on when Marston becomes instantly attracted to

10 Spitfire Facts
The Meaning behind Aircrafts Anxiety. Fear. Sadness. These are the things that the courageous
members of the allied Air Forces all felt during the time of WWII. Several different types of fighting

most deadly of all was flying a military aircraft. Aircrafts were powerful tools in the war, yet they
were also a very expensive price to pay. The risk of using aircraft in combat was high, but it was

Termite Reaction Lab Report
Termites
Methods:
As an entomology class, consisting of 6 students and a professor, we walked around a rural campus
for approximately 45 minutes in Laurinburg, North Carolina; collecting termites (unsure of exact
scientific name) from underneath decomposing logs from multiple sites within an acre area. With
these samples, and the efforts of Jared Kay (student), who continued the search after class, we had a
combined total of 30 termites including worker and soldier castes to study.
After samples were collected and consolidated to a tuple ware container, we set up the experiment in
the science lab, located at St. Andrews University, Laurinburg. The experiment consisted of a white
sheet of paper, and three writing utensils : rollerball, ball point, and a sharpie. In essence, we release
one termite at a time onto the white paper and draw lines with each of the pens listed above; to
determine which line or lines the termite prefers. Each termite was tested and documented. ... Show

hypothesis which stated that the termites will not follow the ball point pen. By comparing the
categories, how many termites followed a certain pen or how many did not, the most favorable writing
utensil among the collected termites was determined. The significance level alpha chosen was .05

  • 3. William Wilberforce Research Paper Heroes have been around for centuries. From Joan of Arc who help win France s 100 year war to Oskar Schindler, who saved over 1000 Jews from the Holocaust and countless others. There are too many to talk about so I will focus on just one. William Wilberforce was born August 24, 1759, in England, Kingston upon Hull to a wealthy family. In his early life he was taken to live with his nonconformist relatives in London, however, when he was 12 William s mother; Elizabeth Bird took him back to Hull. She wanted him to be brought up in a traditional Anglican Church and did not want him to be raised by nonconformist. When he was 18 he attended St. John s College, Cambridge, where he became the life long friend, of William Pitt, the futare ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He and others campaigned for the end of slavery in the British empire. During this time he said So enormous, so dreadful, so irremediable did the [slave] trade s wickedness appear that my own mind was completely made up for abolition. Let the consequences be what they would: I from this time determined that I would never rest until I had effected its abolition. When in parliment he tryed to get bills passed for 18 years that would free slaves and to eventally ebolish slavery. During this time he was vehemently aposed by those making a fortion on slave trade. On March 25, 1807 the Slave Trade Act abolished savery in the British colinies. However, this did not stop slave trade in all the empire. He tried meny times to get parliment to ban slavery in Great Briten but to no evail. But then close to the end of his life Wilberforce wrote one last presintation to try and stop slavery once and for all in the empire. The debat to get the bill passed lasted for 3 months. • 4. A Short Note On Opioid Control And Opioid Controlled Drug Diamorphine is used for pain control and known as an opioid Controlled Drug [CD], acting by blocking pain signals to the brain (BNF, 2015; NICE, 2016). Opioid medication is licenced for the management of moderate to severe pain however, long term use can cause reliance of the drug yet when used to treat a terminal illness, there are no restrictions (Knott, 2013; Nice, 2016). Morphine s most common side effects include nausea and vomiting, sedation, constipation, hypotension and sweating however, it can cause hallucinations which are important in the management of anxiety in palliative care (Everyday Health, 2016; Mann Carr, 2009). Diamorphine causes less nausea and hypotension than morphine and the focus in palliative care is pain management which is more effective when avoiding pain, than in the relief of pain (Cancer Research UK, 2015). Levomepromazine is Prescription Only Medication [POM] usually known as an antipsychotic drug {tranquillizer} however, it can also be used as an antiemetic drug to control nausea and vomiting (BNF, 2015; NHS Scotland, 2014). There are many antiemetic drugs used to treat nausea and vomiting however, some work on the brain by stopping the stimulation of the vomiting centre, whilst others work on the gut emptying the stomach contents at a faster rate (Macmillan Cancer Support, 2013). An antiemetic drug is chosen according to the causes of the vomiting and in Jacobs s case it is a known side effect of taking Diamorphine. The most common side ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Nt1330 Unit 5 Exercise 1 Algorithm In this section, we discuss the implementation of XXX and evaluate the performance of our proposed algorithm with synthetic inputs in terms of 1) SFC request acceptance ratio, 2) backup resource consumed by requests and 3) running time. For comparison, we implement a baseline method, where for an SFC request which requires n VNF and has the availability requirement of _, we keep increasing the number of backup for each VNF on all selected physical machines until each VNF can have an availability of n p _. The statistics shown in this section are the average results. A. Implementation We implement XXX as a framework with both single core and multi core versions in an objective oriented language. A topology can be built by declaring the connections ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Since telecom networks must be always on, it is critical to guarantee network service availability with the minimum amount of resources. In this paper, we presented XXX, our approach to provisioning availability in NFV. XXX provides a suite for service providers to concisely describe a data center topology and estimate the downtime distribution of a mapped SFC request. To reduce the running time of XXX, we further proposed an optimization framework which estimates the minimum amount of backup resources required to meet heterogeneous availability requirements and showed an heuristic solution with a theoretical bound. Through evaluation with data from production data centers, we demonstrated the effectiveness and efficiency of our solutions. For the future work, we are expanding our optimization framework to enable expedited estimations of the backup resource needed under other models of VNF. On the other hand, the downtime estimation accuracy is heavily dependent on the accuracy of the failure and repair distribution of each layer, including both hardware and software. Therefore it is important to analyze system log data, extract and model them using appropriate general ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Essay Use of Digressions in Beowulf The author of Beowulf cleverly uses digressions throughout the work in order to foreshadow events or give more insight on a situation. Some digressions may be used as guidance in how to live one s life. The digression on page fifty two in lines 884 through 914 of Beowulf in The Norton Anthology: English Literature Volume A, the entertainer who is singing in Beowulf s honor after he slew the monster Grendel. To the characters of Beowulf, the song is simply entertainment, but to the reader it is foreknowledge of future events that will unfold as the story continues. The digression is used to hint to Beowulf s fight with the dragon, becoming king, and tell what kind of king Beowulf will not be in the future. The digression begins as a story ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For the well being of his people, Beowulf should have let his warriors fight the dragon in his place in order to win the hoard. Even though Beowulf gains all the treasures of the dragon hoard, his people suffer a greater loss from his death. Beowulf s death would lay out the welcome mat for eager conquerors to come and attack his land. However, like Sigemund, Beowulf s glory will always remain and grow with his death. On the other hand, the digression tells of another king, King Heremod, who has the opposite characteristics of Beowulf. King Heremod lost his prowess and values that make a good leader which would lead to his being conquered and killed by the Jutes. King Heremod was every aspect that Beowulf was not and would not be when he became king; Beowulf retains his courage and becomes an exceptional leader for his nation. The story of King Heremod could also be used as a warning to Beowulf that he should always stay brave and never let his power decline. Heremod was unsuccessful in fulfilling the responsibilities of a king to his country; therefore, as the poem says in lines 903 through 905, he was a burden on his warriors, nobles, and people. He let his own interest and grief overpower his responsibilities. Beowulf would prove to always do what he feels fit to protect and benefit his people. Beowulf, unlike King Heremod, would not fall the normal evils of men. Beowulf s only fault is he is too eager ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In both stories there are similarities and differences. In both stories how people who migrated to Canada bring their language, beliefs and cultural background or tradition. In the story Ancestors The Genetic Source by David Suzuki, has no attachments or connections to his culture more to the point of his family bonds. Engkent s mother had certain beliefs. Staring at the judge, my mother remarks: Noi yren. The judge shows interest in what my mother says, and I translate in she says you re a woman.... if she is going to examine me, mother tells me, I might as well start packing for China. Sell my house. Dig up you fathers bones, and I ll take them back with me (Garry Engkent). This quote shows that his mother is used to the Chinese culture and thinks that a girl does not have the power to do anything over a man. However, her thought as a Chinese immigrant was proven wrong when she received her citizenship from a woman. In comparison, when Suzuki visited Japan with his wife Tara, who is English, he had trouble booking a room at a hotel. We asked a man at the travel bureau to book a Ryokan a traditional Japanese Inn for us in Tokyo. He found one and booked it for Suzuki san and off we went. When we arrived at the inn and I entered the foyer, the owner was confused by my terrible Japanese...because of my name he expected a real Japanese instead, I was a gaijin and the owner told us he wouldn t take us (David Suzuki). In this quote, the owner did not give them a room at the Inn because he had a bad experience with the gaijin. For example, Japanese always takes their shoes off when they enter a ryokan, but Suzuki did not do that, that s why the owner was disappointed in the beginning; Japanese think that entering a room with shoes will be compared to a person entering homes and spitting on the door . This shows that Suzuki growing up in Canada he does not know Japanese s beliefs. • 8. Gene Cloning And Bacterial Transformation Introduction: In this lab, gene cloning and bacterial transformation was conducted. Bacteria are single celled microorganisms. They are simple in structure and have no nucleus with linear chromosomes. Bacteria are essential to life, and reproduction of other bacteria which helps play a role in decomposition of organic matter and the cycling of elements such as nitrogen and carbon, which are elements necessary to live. Due to this, plants and animals can use nitrogen to create nucleic acids along with amino acids, which are the essential building blocks of DNA. They also help break down food in the digestive system, which allows us to obtain the nutrients we need, and bacteria helps develop our immune system to fight other illnesses that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The bacterium being observed was E. coli, which codes for green fluorescent protein. E. coli is a bacterium that normally lives in the intestines of humans and animals alike, and can cause infection. One hopes to observe a glow from a green fluorescent protein (GFP) which is typically made by a jellyfish. This will be made possible by the additional presence of arabinose, which acts as the inducing agent. The inducing agent influences the transcription of the GFP and activates the transcriptional promoters. A promoter allows a foreign gene to fall into place much easier resulting in gene expression. It is expected that the combination of the plasmid, with the Lysogeny Broth (LB) and the arabinose (ARB) will transform the bacteria, and allow for growth of the bacteria in the presence of the antibiotic ampicillin (AMP) along with an observable glow under ultraviolet (UV) light. Hypothesis: The Agar plate with the LB/AMP/ARB in the +pGLO will be the only plate to display growth and a glow when compared to the other agar plates. The Okhrana, the Tsar s secret police, were another obstacle for the Bolsheviks, as due to the large scale membership of the Mensheviks, Lenin became wary of a large party due to suspicion from the Okhrana, as the Tsar was clamping down on any form of revolutionary party. It was this that made Lenin think that the best way to move forward was with a small, tight knit party of professional revolutionaries. However this still did not help as Lenin and his party were forced into exile during the early 1900 s due to scares from the Okhrana and the autocracy. The newest problem the Bolsheviks would have to overcome was how would they be able to dictate affairs in Russia while in exile? The Soviets argue the answer by stating that Lenin was relaying messages back to Russia in hope of stirring up revolution. Another reason for the lack of achievement was Stolypin s land reforms which they allowed the peasants to opt out of the Mir, thus, in a way, diminishing the need for an uprising. • 19. Analysis Of The Poem Maus My Father Bleed History Essay The curiosity of Artie about Vladek saying that Anja was not pretty, during the fight between Vladek and Lucia, incites Artie to interrupt Vladek s story of the past. The interruptions that Art Spiegelman writes into his comic, Maus My Father Bleed History, breaks up Vladek s story about surviving the Holocaust, which is what happens in the scene with Vladek and Lucia s fight. Spiegelman uses the interruptions of Vladek s story to lead out of it and then back into Maus to assist in clarifying information for the reader, to show the father son relationship between Artie and Vladek, and also to explain how Maus was written. The incidents that Spiegelman uses within his panels and text work as a way to give insight into how Artie and Vladek s father son relationship works. A case in which Artie and Vladek s relationship is shown is right after Vladek tells Artie the story about Lucia and he says, But this is what I just told you about Lucia and so I don t want you should write this in your book (Spiegelman 23). To help interrupt Vladek s story Spiegelman makes the panel in which this dialogue takes place have no border around it, which gives the panel a sense of breaking up the story that Vladek was telling to Artie. Prohibiting gay marriage is considered discrimination to gays because the government is not giving homosexual couples the same rights as gay heterosexuals, which is also unconstitutional. Therefore, same sex couples should have access to the same marriage benefits and public acknowledgment enjoyed by heterosexual couples. (pro con,1) Opponents believe that same sex marriage is not right and you should be ashamed to be that way. While proponents say same homosexual couples should be able to publicly celebrate their commitment in the same way as heterosexual couples do. (pro con,1) Many gay and lesbian couples want to marry because they are in love! Just because someone loves the same sex, does not mean they are different or love any different then heterosexuals. In fact, the Family Research Council shows statistics that gay and lesbians couples are proven to last longer and that they are much happier then heterosexual couples. (pro con) They want to honor their relationship in the best way that society has to offer. They are making a public commitment to stand with each other in good times and bad, they are prepared to go through the joys and challenges life brings ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 28. Should Witnesses Be Allowed To Testify For A Jury Essay There have been more than 2,000 false convictions in the past twenty three years. Witnesses should not be allowed to testify for a defendant that they know personally. The witness should not be allowed to know the defendant personally because witnesses are a huge part in court cases and memories can easily be changed, witnesses can lie, they can t always be credible, and it is hard to testify against close friends. Witnesses make a huge impression on a jury and the only way to have a truly honest witness is if the are a neutral witness and have no stake in the result. One way witnesses are important in court cases is, Witness testimony can make a deep impression on a jury, which is often exclusively assigned the role of sorting out credibility ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Such as, perjury is a crime, because lying under oath can subvert the integrity of a trial and the legitimacy of the judicial system. However, perjury is defined as knowingly making a false statement merely misremembering is not a crime. (Engelhardt 2)No one could blatantly lie during their testimony, or they would be guilty of perjury, but if someone the defendant knew was the witness, the defendant could put false information into the witness s mind, which would be classified as misremembering. Another huge part in court cases is the credibility of the witness. Credibility is believability or trustworthiness. If a witness s testimony and demeanor convinces you that he/she can be trusted, then that witness is credible.(Goguen 5) Witnesses that are friends of the defendant do not have much credibility because they are not trustworthy due to the fact that they would be bias towards their friend. A witness in a criminal case is someone who testifies at a court hearing because they observed and/or have direct knowledge of a crime or significant event. (Types of witnesses in a criminal case 1) If a witness had a personal relationship with the defendant, then their direct knowledge would have been altered based on the information their friend had told ... • 29. Analytical Analysis Of Wes Anderson s Moonrise Kingdom Analytical Paper on Moonrise Kingdom From the moment you turn on a Wes Anderson movie, you can easily recognize it s his due to the unique style. Moonrise Kingdom is one of his most popular and stylized films to date. One scene in particular I want to look into is the scene when Scout Master Ward and the other scouts are introduced. (5:31 8:39) This scene is important to setting up the rest of the movie. It introduces us to the antagonists for the first part of the film as well as showing that Sam ran away from the camp. The opening shot to the scene tells you everything about the location. The wooden sign lets you know right away that they re in a boy scout camp, while the sign also works as a frame around the tents in the background. (5:31 5:42) Then it cuts to Scout Master Ward exiting a tent and going about his daily business. From the moment his character is introduced, you can tell that he s in a position of power. (5:42 5:55) This claim is further supported when all the characters are sitting at the breakfast table, and Scout Master Ward sits in the middle. (7:43 7:53) Most films may have Scout Master Ward sitting at the head of the table, however with the way this scene is shot, it makes sense that he be in the exact middle to show his power dynamic. All the colors in the scene have an earthy tone, meaning there is a lot of browns, dark greens and yellows. This works because they re supposed to be at a boy scout camp, and are learning to be experts in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 30. Fetus Should Not Have Rights The fetus cannot possibly have rights because the fetus cannot be determine as a complete human and no statics can back up 100% when human life begins without a doubt. We all assume we know but we don t. It s our own opinion; therefore, we cannot determine the laws and rights on our opinion but we can determine it on the fact that the mother is a human begin and has lived up the life. Besides the fetus depends on the mother at all time during the pregnancy and after birth. The mother is the one who is going to have to feed the child, clothes the child and change the child s diapers. The child could not possibly do all of those things by itself; therefore, the child depends 100% at all times on the mother. That is why the mother deserves those rights and need safety procedures if she decides to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore, it is only right for the mother to have the right to determine what it is she wants without all the negative perspective. No one is pointing fingers and saying it is anyone s fault, life happens that s it. Of course the innocent unborn child should not have to pay for the crime of another but why should the woman be remind every single day of what happened due to having the child. Not to mention why would anyone want to be a child of a rapist or incest, also genetic runs deep who knows what if the innocent child was to grow up and become its father the rapist or incest and repeat history, are pro life supporters willing to take that risk and let that happen to someone else because that one would be on them. Yes it is the state s reasonability to protect the rights of its citizens but the fetus is unborn therefore it cannot possibly be a citizen. Abortion is legal because the government wants to protect the rights of the woman and let them have a safe procedure instead of putting them at risk. • 31. Designing AApplication Using And.net And The... In the past applications were monolithic, and were built on a single stack such as .Net or Java and ran on a single server. There is no way to get around building distributed software in today s market. Just think about the software out there today. The market consist of many different variations of architecture tier an application may have such as an UI tier, caching tier, application tier, and persistence tier such as SQL or table logging. Multiple components may spread across machines today. Software will have associated dependencies and these component dependencies can be in conflict. One component might be dependent on a certain DLL and another component for another one. Those two different versions might not run or compile ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It will be wasteful to have the same execution environments even though they have different scale characteristics. Developers also deal with test and production to move throughout the development life cycle. Since developers are increasingly building distributed operating systems, the way to deal with complexity is using the concepts of containers. Containers are a native OS construct that provide light weight isolation. In Linux there is a concept that is comprised of different sub concepts. There are namespaces that provide isolations for user database, processes and IP addresses. Think of a container as hosted on top of an Linux OS and it gets its own database, processes and IP addresses. It also gets cgroups which governs resources. They make sure that not one container is using all the resources but it shared all the way across. Each container gets a read write view such a Union File system. These three make up the idea of a container. Containers assist developers in making software portable. The software looks the same everywhere you deploy and run it. Also developers will not need to install the app dependencies on user s host. Once you have a distributed system that consist of different pasts, then the different parts can be hosted in that container. Docker containers not just an application but ... • 33. The Themes Of Professor Marston And The Wonder Woman Professor Marston and the Wonder Women tells a bold and provocative story about psychologist and college professor William Moulton Marston (Luke Evans), and the behind the scenes realities which led to his conceiving of, and authoring an initial run of comic books, introducing his creation of Wonder Woman to readers of all ages in the 1940s. Prior to that, years before, Marston claimed to be the inventor, along with wife Elizabeth (Rebecca Hall), of the first ever legitimate polygraph, or lie detector machine. The Marstons found that when a participant in the test told a lie, their systolic blood pressure would change, measured by a bar which wrapped around the chest of the individual receiving the test. Wonder Woman fans may recall that the superhero brandishes a lasso, which when wrapped around the chest of a foe, compels them to tell the truth. However, other reasons were in play when we see children s author and psychologist Josette Frank (Connie Britton) grilling Marston over the themes and concepts found in his comic book series in the mid 1940s. In flashback, we learn how Marston worked as a college professor and researcher, alongside his wife, selling his DiSC theory, positing that people express human emotions in four types of ways, through Dominance, Inducement, Submission, and Compliance. Written and directed by Angela Robinson, Professor Marston gets the unconventional structure of the story out of the way early on when Marston becomes instantly attracted to ... Several different types of fighting were used in WWII, battleships, tanks, and legions of soldiers, but the most useful, and perhaps the most deadly of all was flying a military aircraft. Aircrafts were powerful tools in the war, yet they were also a very expensive price to pay. The risk of using aircraft in combat was high, but it was extremely useful to the allied forces. Since 1945, people have begun to love the old planes used in battle. Many people like to go to airshows, where old military aircraft set to the sky in a performance of skill. • 35. Termite Reaction Lab Report Termites Methods: As an entomology class, consisting of 6 students and a professor, we walked around a rural campus for approximately 45 minutes in Laurinburg, North Carolina; collecting termites (unsure of exact scientific name) from underneath decomposing logs from multiple sites within an acre area. With these samples, and the efforts of Jared Kay (student), who continued the search after class, we had a combined total of 30 termites including worker and soldier castes to study. After samples were collected and consolidated to a tuple ware container, we set up the experiment in the science lab, located at St. Andrews University, Laurinburg. The experiment consisted of a white sheet of paper, and three writing utensils : rollerball, ball point, and a sharpie. In essence, we release one termite at a time onto the white paper and draw lines with each of the pens listed above; to determine which line or lines the termite prefers. Each termite was tested and documented. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This test was chosen because we were comparing collected data with what we expected (Kowalczyk, D.). This allowed us to support our hypothesis: termites will follow the line drawn by the ball point pen because it is similar to the smell used by termites to mark designated paths, or prove our null hypothesis which stated that the termites will not follow the ball point pen. By comparing the categories, how many termites followed a certain pen or how many did not, the most favorable writing utensil among the collected termites was determined.
