Fiasco Finish Descriptive Writing
The Fiasco Finish As I struggled to continue running on that August afternoon just four months ago,
the blinding rays of sunlight shone down upon me. The skin piercing rays of sunlight, along with the
high heat and humidity, overpowered anyone that dared to take a step outside. My face glistening with
sweat was proof of that. I once again automatically raised my right foot as my left racing spike hit the
damp ground, still soggy from the previous day s rain. With my blue eyes focused on the maze, which
was the North Branch Golf Course, a.k.a. the North Decatur High School cross country course. North
Decatur High School s cross country course, I swung my rather thin arms to and fro and my dark
blond ponytail bobbed with every step. Unfortunately, few markers or signs pointed the way.
Consequently, I, along with the rest of the herd of about two dozen high school maze runners from
four area schools, was left wondering where to go. My completely royal blue uniform glistened with
sweat, and my breath cackled as I searched ahead for a faded yellow flag set in the short muddy grass
marking the way. The fact it was the first meet of my junior season already made my task difficult
enough; not knowing where to go just made matters worse. Fortunately, I recognized this final part of

I remember the 48 hour exercise restriction that made me sad but relieved at the same time since I was
so tired. I also remembered missing my pre cal test the following morning. I considered my diagnosis:
dehydration and heat exhaustion. I thought about how I let down my team because they could not
score at the meet without my finish. I knew better. If I learned anything from that day, it would be that
every day, or more specifically, every race, is not perfect. The bad races make you appreciate the good
ones that much more. My team and family proved how supporting they really are. I knew I was
blessed, no matter how

Douglas Macarthur Speech
Have you ever heard of General Douglas MacArthur? Well I m going to tell you about him and the
great things he did. When you hear the quote old soldiers never die they just fade away you ll think of
him and all of the good things he did for us and what a hero he really is. He served in both of the wars
and ran for presidency. Early life MacArthur was born on an Army base in Little Rock, Arkansas, on
January 26, 1880, into a family with military history. When he was born his Dad was a captain , and
had been decorated for his service in the Union Army during the Civil War. His Mom s brothers
fought for the south during the civil war. The base where he was born was just the first of several
military post which he lived as a kid. In 1893 his family moved to San Antonio, Texas, and he
attended the West Texas Military Academy. After high school, he enrolled in the military academy at
West Point, where he excelled, and in 1903 he graduated with honors. After graduation, MacArthur
was commissioned as a junior officer in the Army Corps of Engineers. World War 1 after At the start

japan to command the occupation forces. When North Korean army invaded South Korea in 1950, he
started to command the newly united nation s forces. On April 11, 1951, Truman removed MacArthur
from his command for insubordination. This made people in America very mad, but Truman stayed
focused on keeping the conflict with North Korea a limited war. Americans started to understand that
MacArthur s recommendations might have led to a massively expanded war in

Tomahl Cook vs Nj
State v. Tomahl Cook The case of Tomahl Cook vs. The State of New Jersey was a very grusome
study in the tragedy of Katrina Suhan. Katrina was murdered February 14, 1998 in Old Bridge, New
Jersey. She was only 15 years when she was brutally murdered by a cold hearted ruthless murderer.
Katrina s life was taken away from her at such a young age due to a sick human being. The experience
of driving by where Katrina lived, where she was abducted, and where she was murdered was very
moving. I found it very interesting to follow the trail of a murder as if I was on the case myself. The
street where Katrina was abducted is a pretty busy street which is North Stevens St. in South Amboy. I
could envision it at night how it could be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The neighborhood seemed to be a nice area from how it looks now. Katrina had a very long walk that
night to reach her destination. Unfortunately she would never make it back to her house the evening of
Valentine s Day. Instead she was brutally murdered and left to die in a field behind a bowling alley
where now lies the Home Depot in Sayerville. Her body was found by people who were riding atv s
behind the bowling alley in a wooded area. Her skull was fractured as she suffered blunt force trauma
which induced her death. The Home Depot was sincere enough to leave a space where a memorial lies
for Katrina where her body was found. The memorial is a nice area where an engraved stone has
Katrina s information and the usual information a tombstone would read. Overall I found it to be a
very interesting experience to go through the steps of the murder case. I could almost put myself in
Katrina s shoes that night when her life was tragically ended unfortunately. Tomahl Cook is serving a
life sentence in prison which he absolutely deserves, but none the less I think he should have got the
death penalty. I feel if any human being abducts somebody and murders them should have their own
life taken away from them. I think this is the proper way justice should be served. A poor innocent girl
on February 14. 1998 was murdered in such a painful matter for the purpose of sexual intent from a

Economic and Political Issues that Helped Hitler Rise to...
In the following investigation, the following question will be addressed: In what ways did economic
and political issues in Germany between 1922 and 1932 contribute to Hitler s rise to power? The
scope of my research will fall between the years of 1922 1932, the start of Hitler s attempt to run for
office. A variety of primary and secondary sources will be used to answer the question. The bitterness
caused upon the change of government systems in Germany will be analyzed, along with his
childhood that all primarily drove Hitler to run for power. Then, the harsh effects World War I had on
Germany along with the Great Depression that followed as a result will also be looked at. Finally, a
conclusion will be reached. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On the other hand, if this were to have existed in a dictatorship, one would merely get used to how
something went because that was how life would be from now on if there was a dictator present. With
all the mess and distress already present, the body of laws present in a democracy is much slower to
be established, while it usually took much less time with a dictator. Rather than one person having to
agree on a law or come up with one, a democracy requires the whole body instead to ratify or accept
it. This is due to the fact that your own personal needs must be given up in a dictatorship, while they
are respected and valued on the other hand in a democracy. Therefore, seeing from all these changes,
the alteration in government that the German government faced must have produced overwhelming
challenges for Germany as a whole. They must completely abandon the norm for them and accustom
themselves once again to a new way of life. Not only will these bring upon conflicts within the human
population, but in all aspects including political, social, and economic qualities. In specificity to all
these problems, it was many problems that accumulated and grew through time that presented a
chance for Hitler to rise to power. Adolf Hitler was not only a strong and powerful leader that could
have rose to power completely on his own, yet many of the inhabitants in Germany was tired of
everything and needed a changed

Social And Natural Resource Issues
For this week s forum, I hold the view of a normative pluralistic which relates the environmental and
natural resource issue of irreversible changes caused by negative consequences for a healthy planet.
Normative pluralism is considered not to be as radical as the belief of a fundamentalist pluralist.
Formally, a normative pluralist assumes that there is a plurality of bearers of value (Stanford
Encyclopedia of Philosophy, 2011). The irreversible changes caused by negative consequences for a
healthy planet can be associated will the failure to widely produce agreements globally to tackle
environmental and natural resource issues. In the article, Global Green Pluralism, pluralistic values
discussed that support my argument are comprised of the division of labor amongst governments and
nongovernmental actors to govern the environment.
Some of the values that play a key role in the overall support the creation of an effective
environmental and/or natural resource policy to preserve the environment consist of actors/governance
components, agenda setting, networks, negotiation, compliance, implementation, and resilience. A
brief detailed description of each value is listed below.
Actors and governance components include public, private, and a civil society that engage in the
authority of regulating factors that impact the environment based on their relationships. In various
ways they are able to fulfill a host of governance over activities across their components. These

Near Field Communication Research Paper
The exact definition of Near Field Communication (NFC) is a set of communication protocols that
enable two electronic devices, one of which is usually a portable device such as a smartphone, to
establish communication by bringing them within 2in of each other. For example, if I have an iPhone
specifically it will connect to the Internet and can exchange data with online services. Different
providers such as AT T Mobility, Verizon Wireless, T Mobile USA and even Apple have joined in this
new interesting way to handle their e pays.
Now it is made possible for you to pay with your phone. When it is time to swipe your card you now
have the option to scan your card information of which you have saved from previous purchases
through Internet based methods. You can save multiple cards at a time; all you would have to do is
choose the card you would like to use. You can also transfer funds from one person to the other, same

Its been brought up that NFC tags can assist medical professionals with important information about a
certain patient. Patients can have tags with their medical history, treatments they have gone through,
and even any future medicines or treatments they can take. Recently on the news a mother explained
how the hospital gave their newborn baby to another who had also just given birth to a newborn. The
confusion started with a nurse going into the wrong room and reading off the wrong tag number that is
placed on the newborns bracelet and ankle, of which a mother and their second person also receive a
tag. In todays world everything is so advanced that such NFC tags would not only help hospitals alike
but also prevent situations like these from happening, especially with such fragile situations. Not just
mothers can benefit from this, but all clinic and hospital patients

The Devil Made Me Do It
The enemy, the devil, can t make you and I do anything. So, don t use that flimsy excuse that The
devil made me do it. The devil didn t make you do anything. He can t force you and I to do anything
that is outside our will or the will of God. All he can do is tempt you. He doesn t have that kind of
authority over us, where he can make you do anything. The Bible says that we are drawn away by our
own lusts when we do something that is outside of God s Word and will for our lives. You re drawn
away because that s what you wanted to do, and then we try to find every excuse in the book to justify
doing it. I m here to tell you that you ll never be able to qualify it. You will never ever be able to
satisfy yourself with the thought I was justified in doing it if you re going to be a man of integrity. A
man of integrity has nothing to hide, nothing to fear. You are always a stand up man, and you will
always be an individual who others can depend and count on. But most of all, a man of integrity is
always true to his word. When you make promises, keep them. Don t be a liar. A man of integrity is
not a liar; he keeps his word. The Bible says in Psalm 15, When you re living with integrity, you ll tell
the truth even when you re older. Even when you know it may very well expose you, you still tell the
truth instead of trying to find a way to get around it. Speak the truth in love, that we may grow up in
all things. Every time you lie, you compromise your integrity. Let s say

Having a hysterectomy can be one of the most difficult decisions a woman ever has to make. It can
threaten your identity, sexuality, and fertility, and lead to lingering feelings of grief, depression, and
loss. But sometimes a hysterectomy is necessary in order to increase quality of life, reduce painful
symptoms, or even save lives. If you are thinking about having a hysterectomy, it is important to
weigh your decision carefully. This report is designed to give the reader some important background
information on hysterectomy procedures and on how a hysterectomy might affect you or someone you
love.

In endometriosis, this endometrial tissue begins to grow in places outside the uterus. Typical sites
include the fallopian tubes, intestines, vagina, and on scars that my form after abdominal surgery. The
misplaced endometrial tissue thickens, engorges with blood and bleeds during the menstrual cycle,
just like the normal tissue in the uterus. However, there is no place for the abnormally placed
endometrial tissue outside the uterus to shed blood. This results in the formation of cysts, scars, and
adhesions. This process can also block or affect the fallopian tubes so that conception and pregnancy
are less likely to happen. It can also result in complete infertility. Other symptoms of endometriosis
are often associated with heavy or painful periods. Risk factors for the development of endometriosis
include having a mother or sister with the disorder, never having children, starting the menstrual
period at an early age, and frequent or long periods. According to Dr. Camron Nezhat, Laparoscopic
Surgeon at Stanford University, 5.5% of women in the U.S are infected with Endometriosis and 30%
to 40% are infertile as a result of it.

America s Meat Industry Hides From The Consumer
America s meat industry hides from the consumer, according to Michael Pollan, author of The
Omnivore s Dilemma. The consumer, as well as corporations, have built walls instead of demanding
transparency. Journalists and the general public are not permitted to enter abattoirs of many
corporations, leaving the judgement of slaughtering methods to the businesses themselves. State and
federal regulations aren t always enforced, thus corporations decide what is humane . Profit
organisations find the most efficient and lucrative system, yet ignore the secondary costs to natural
systems. Pollan argues that in preventing abuse, only transparency holds businesses accountable to
regulations. He states in Omnivore s Dilemma, No other country raises and slaughters its food animals
quite as intensively or as brutally as we do . Many Americans would disagree because they are
ignorant of the system. We have chosen not to see what really happens to the animals we eat,
understandably, due to the unpleasant truths Pollan uncovers. As a summary, slaughterhouses kill a
steer by stunning it, hanging it upside down by its leg and bleeding it out by cutting its throat.
However, (according to McDonald s) they accept a five percent error rate, meaning when the first
stunning does not kill the animal, the steer continues along the conveyor belt for processing. Animal
rights group s accounts have revealed that live animals have been skinned alive and go through
immense suffering. Despite the

Merit Pay Benefits
The whole purpose of education is to turn mirrors into windows. This quote by Sydney J. Harris notes
that schooling provides opportunities and guides career paths. The effectiveness of teachers can cause
a generation of workers, parents, and students to prosper or fail. Yet, with such a burden on their
shoulders, they have one of the lowest paying professions. Teachers deserve more money than
$54,740 to $58,170 a year. Merit pay should be incorporated into all U.S. school systems. The single
salary schedule that schools use now does not reward more hardworking teachers effectively.
According to All Teachers Are Not the Same , the single salary schedule was implemented in the 1950
s to provide equality between female and male teachers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instance, Merit pay programs aimed at groups of teachers who worked together to earn incentive
pay, as opposed to individuals competing against one another, resulted in an effect more than two
times the average (Iasevoli). Regardless of competition, teachers who work together are the ones who
get the rewards. Teachers will realize cooperation is key to getting benefits. Also, the teachers who
aren t getting rewards for their effectiveness won t have as strong as a reason as others to stay in the
profession, Thus, they would leave which weeds out the ineffective teachers. The equally important
text Merit Pay for Teachers Can Lead to Higher Test Scores for Students, a Study Finds points out,
teacher participation in a merit pay program led to the equivalent of four extra weeks of student
learning, according to a new analysis of 44 studies of incentive pay initiatives in the United States and
abroad. With merit pay in place, teachers will be more dedicated to teaching with benefits in mind,
will be able to get more and better materials, and could be less stressed which can reflect on the
students. Students would be affected positively from merit pay because the classroom environment
would be more helpful and the bad teachers would either work harder or leave. The claim that merit
pay has a negative impact on teachers and students is not always true, and in reality, merit pay may be
good for

Malcolm Gladwell Outliers The Story Of Success Summary
In Outliers: The Story of Success by Malcolm Gladwell an interesting point is made, this point is if
you work hard and assert yourself, and use your mind and imagination, you can shape the world to
you desires (Gladwell 151).This is true in many of the stories told in the book Outliers: The Story of
Success by Malcolm Gladwell several famous people are talked about such as, The Beatles, Bill
Gates. But in this book several studies on education, parenting, and psychology are cited. We also
learn that there are many differences between what others may consider to be success, and what
Malcolm Gladwell considers success.
I would like to begin by discussing Bill Gates the founder of Microsoft. What opportunities allowed
him to build a company worth billions of dollars? How did he learn so much about how computers?
Did he have any advantages over other students at school? In the chapter The 10,000 Rule it is stated
that The idea that excellence at preforming a complex task requires a minimum level of practices
surfaces again and in studies of expertise. In fact, researchers have settled on what they believe is the
magic number for true success: ten thousand hours (Gladwell 39 40). It takes this long because It
seems that it takes the brain that long to assimilate all that it needs to achieve true mastery (Gladwell
40). So where did Bill Gates get his ten thousand hours of experience before building Microsoft. Well
the answer is Lakeside, a private that catered

Predicting Preferences
Predicting Preferences
Prediction involves making a statement concerning the likely value of an event or action uncertain or
unknown at the time of the statement. Since the theory of probability, (inaugurated by the French
mathematicians Blaise Pascal and Pierre Fermat in 1654), was developed to quantify uncertain events
in terms of their likelihood of occurrence, formal prediction is now viewed as a mathematical topic
involving probabilistic modeling. Indeed, the mathematician Karl Pearson said in 1907 that the
fundamental problem in statistics is prediction. Prediction, however, is usually not an end goal itself,
but rather means to put probabilistic bounds on the relative frequency or likelihood of occurrence of

Bernoulli resolved the paradox by postulating that people do not make choices based on the expected
rewards alone, but rather based on the value or pleasure that each individual pay off is likely to yield
to them. He said The determination of the value of an item must not be based on the price, but rather
on the utility it yields.... There is no doubt that a gain of one thousand ducats is more significant to the
pauper than to a rich man though both gain the same amount. He suggested there was a function U(w)
(called a utility function) which describes the amount of value or utility that the individual gains by
having an amount of wealth w. Rational individuals prefer more money to less money, so U(w) is
increasing, but the incremental value of more wealth decreases as one becomes wealthier (decreasing
marginal utility or value of wealth) so U(w) is concave. Bernoulli stated that people determined how
much to pay for the game or gamble not based on the gamble s expected value but rather it s expected
utility. Thus, if x1, x2, ..., xn are the possible outcomes of an uncertain economic endeavor or gamble,
and their probabilities of occurrence are p1, p2, ..., pn then a decision maker with an initial wealth of
W would make decisions based on their expected utility of their final wealth, U(W+x1)*p1 +
U(W+x2)*p2 +...+ U(W+xn)*pn. Using this approach, one can predict preferences between two
uncertain events by

Leadership Is An Effective Leader
Leadership is the ability to influence a group toward the achievement of a vision or set of goals. There
are many different types of leadership, all with their own appropriate time and place for use. An
effective leader can be successful in all settings; it is important to develop a well rounded skill set to
combat different leadership roadblocks. When one thinks of a leader in a business organization, most
likely they are thinking of formal leader. Sometimes this type of leader is referred to as a manager. It is
important to note that just because an organization provides its manager with certain formal rights,
there is no assurance they will lead effectively. On the other hand, non sanctioned leadership is the
ability to influence others outside the formal structure of the organization. People do not realize the
importance of a leader with this capability, it is often overlooked. The fact of the matter is that this
type of leader can be just as important or more important than the formal influence from a manager.
Just as there are different types of leadership, there are different theories about the concept of
leadership. Among these theories are Trait theories, behavioral theories, and contingent theories.
Among the three different types of leadership theories are the Trait Theories. Trait theories of
leadership identify the specific personality traits that distinguish leaders from non leaders. These
theories are based on the premise that leaders are born, not made.

The Handmaid s Tale By Margret Atwood
In the novel, The Handmaid s Tale , the author Margret Atwood introduces a dystopian America where
everything that once was is no more. In this society there is a change in the state s entire structure, it
has returned to its traditional ways or in other words a religious trap; both women and men are sorted
into categories, and each plays their part. Men can be Angles, Commanders or Guardians. Angles are
unknown but they are the ones who run society, commanders are slightly lower in rank with wives,
and the guardians are guards of the city and make sure the woman do not step out of line. The woman

In the first chapter we are introduced to our narrator, Offred, along with her situation. She is a
handmaid who will go to different homes trying to conceive a child. But before she is put into a home,
she is trained on how to be a proper handmaid. She is conditioned to believe in what the government
deems acceptable and is punished with an electric cattle prod when she steps out of line. She does not
have a say in what happens to her and as a women who experienced life before this traditional reform,
she longs for her old lifestyle. She wishes for an escape though she knows that could not happen with
the Angels guarding the fence that surrounds the building. With that knowledge, she thinks about
making a deal with the Angles. She does not have money, a position of power in society, or goods to
exchange, but she does have her body. This is where the idea of the body becoming control stems
from. As long as she has her body, she has something to bargain with, a tool to use to get her what she
wants most. Her body is an object of power to her because it arouses men and it is something they
want, so in order for her to get something from them, she must give her body in exchange. The first
chapter is crucial when discussing the theme because it is constantly brought up throughout the novel.

The Pros And Cons Of The Louisiana Purchase
The Louisiana Purchase was a key point in The United States of America s history that without it, the
country as we know it would be completely different. The Louisiana Purchase may have been a
controversial decision, but it was a good on that put America on track to becoming a superpower.
Almost half of America was included in the Purchase and the rest on the west coast is separated by the
land included in the Purchase. So, if the purchase had never happened America would still be confined
to only the east coast that borders the Atlantic and we d be a much smaller country. However, since the
Louisiana Purchase did happen, the country spans from both the west and east coast. The Louisiana
Purchase is the treaty that lead America to be one of the three largest countries in the world. Along
with the land came the things that are within nature and can only be created by nature which are
natural resources. Included in the Purchase made between Jefferson and Napoleon was everything on
and in the ground, that was bought. This means that all of the gold, oil, wood, and any other useful
resources that could be found on the land was included in the deal. America was then opened up to
many more riches to help their economy. This could also comprise of the new land that could be used
for farming of many different plants and foods. So, not only did the territory grow so did the wealth in
natural resources.
As stated before, America became one of the three largest countries because of

The Impact Of Deforestation And Its Environmental Impact
Deforestation and its environmental impact
Deforestation is the action of clearing a wide area of trees. Twenty percent of the world s rainforest
has been destroyed because of deforestation. Forests cover about 30% of the planet. Deforestation is
clearing forests on a massive scale. National geographic stated that The world s rainforest could
completely vanish in a hundred years at the current rate of deforestation. (NG 2015)
The cause of deforestation is from number of things. Some are unintentional and some are intentions
clearings. The number one cause of deforestation is agriculture. Farmers buy forested lands to clear
and replant crops for harvest. Farmers also buy land for grazing animals. Cattle ranching is the leading
cause of deforestation in the Amazon. Many times deforestation is caused from illegal farming and
cutting. 49% of all deforestation is illegal (FT 2015) Another leading cause for deforestation is
logging. Logging other wise known as foresting. Other causes are wildfires caused unintentionally by
people and subsequent overgrazing.
Deforestation causes many large problems for the environment and society. The largest issue is the
destruction of habitats. The loss of habitat affects millions of species. Eighty percent of Earth s land
animals and plants live in forests. Deforestation is beginning to kill off species because many species
cannot survive the deforestation that destroys their homes. Deforesting ruins biodiversity and alters

For the purpose of this study, empirical data is obtained from a retail store at Kukusan, Depok. A three
months transactional data of the retail s costumers was obtained and processed using WEKA (Waikato
Environment for Knowledge Analysis) [3]. The products which were studied in this research consist of
704 products. These products then classified as more specific categories (i.e., 25 categories) and listed
in Table 1. The main objective of the classification was to discover a more detail of customers
shopping patterns. Another objective was to avoid bias in the data processing. The first step was to
choose which transactions to be included in this study. We sorted and selected transactions that had
two or more product categories, which consist of 1049 transactions. These transactions were then
converted to ARFF format [4]. WEKA expects the data to be in ARFF format, therefore it is necessary

The Effects Of Disordered Eating Behavior On College...
The Impact of Disordered Eating Behavior on College Relationships: A Qualitative Study Research on
eating disorders has historically focused on experiences of those suffering from the disorders;
however, the National Institutes of Health warns that these disorders can also impact suffers families
(Chavez amp; Insel, 2007). The DSM 5 characterizes eating disorders as persistent disturbances in
eating behavior resulting in (a) abnormalities in food consumption or absorption and (b) impairment
of physical health or psychosocial functioning (American Psychiatric Association, 2013). Recently
researchers have extended their eating disorder investigations to explore effects of these disorders on
families, finding that a child s eating disorder can cause clinically significant distress in parents and
lead to disruptions in family dynamics (Hillege, Beale, amp; McMaster, 2006; Keitel, Parisi, amp;
Whitney, 2010; Leonidas amp; Santos, 2014). Forty percent of parents who have a child with an eating
disorder experience distress (Whitney, Haigh, Weinman, amp; Treasure, 2007). Family fracturing,
decreased coping ability, sibling distress, personal sacrifice, and social isolation contribute to families
distress (Hillege, Beale, amp; McMaster, 2006; Keitel et al., 2010). Additionally, across the majority
(58%) of studies reviewed, researchers found that feelings of conflict, loss, guilt, and sacrifice were

Kid Cudi on his The Cud Life tour. Prior to the concert, I had heard maybe one or two albums of his
but I didn t really love him as much as my cousins did. After the concert, my life had been changed for
I had been blessed; I was in the presence of a god. I remember, there was a point in which he was
talking to the crowd and told us to forget about all of our problems and that that night was just about
feeling good vibes and nothing less. Many people don t know who Kid Cudi is; some people think he
is just the product of Kanye West, (another hip hop artist who took Cudi under his wing at the
beginning of his music career), or they think of him as a one hit wonder for his single, Day N Nite ,
(which has a really bouncy, upbeat vibe and usually people play this song at clubs and parties) off of
his most popular album, Man on The Moon: The End of Day . What people fail to realize is that Kid
Cudi is actually a talented artist who has a legendary soul and the heart of a lion, and yes, his music
could be rather explicit at times but that s part of what makes him great. ... Show more content on

There are several tracks on this album in which Cudi says things that people are afraid to admit. For
instance, in a song called, Confused! , he is asking himself, Who am I? Who are we? , and he
continues by stating that all he wants is to feel complete. In a another song called, Handle With Care ,
he talks about how sensitive, fragile, and delicate his heart is which is something people never me
because they feel vulnerable. Both of these songs really spoke to me because they both demonstrate
the fact that we re all human and it s perfectly okay to feel

Many of us dream of becoming rich to live the life that we always wanted. However, being rich doesn
t mean that you are always financially free. Once you become rich, you always think that your
lifestyle should change and usually it becomes expensive. There are people who had millions of
money, but lost it all in just a short span of time. Just look at some of the lotto winners who won
millions of pesos and have spent it all in a snap. Since they have a lot of money on hand, they bought
big mansions, luxury cars and go to parties almost every night. They spent every cent of their prize
buying everything life has to offer them. Later on as time passes by, their money is getting smaller and
no longer enough to sustain their chosen lifestyle. So to avoid the agony of going back to the rags
once again, they resort to debts and all sort of loans out there. This is not what financial freedom is all
about.
Here are 8 reasons why you need to become financially free than just aim being rich:
1) To cover all your needs. This

The Chinese Spring Festival Of The Chinese New Year
Chinese New Year is a spring festival which usually lasts about 15 23 days and it is known as the
biggest celebration in China. Using the Chinese Calendar, Chinese New Year starts on the 23rd day of
the 12th Lunar Month and ends the 15th day of the 1st lunar month. This is because it is the start of
the New Moon. Even though it lasts 15 to 23 days, the Chinese just get the first 3 days off and make
up for it by working two weekends prior to the holiday. People get so excited for Chinese New Year
they will start the activities a few weeks before. On the week of the 23rd they will start cleaning their
house and do all the shopping for the New Year. The Chinese clean their houses to sweep away old
things and say goodbye to last year. The New Year s shopping they do is to buy all the decorations for
their house and new clothing. The Chinese are very gracious with their money; they will buy everyone
new clothing for this very special holiday. The Chinese New Year eve is meant for a family, putting up
decorations, staying up late with everyone and also giving red envelopes filled with lucky money to all
the kids. Chinese put up with different types of decorations that include red lanterns, New Year
paintings and red couplets. Depending on what the year is will decide the theme of it. For example, the
year of 1998 is the year of tiger, therefore tigers will appear of decorations, paintings, etc. This

User Profiling: A Survey from Modeling to Personalization Abstract The growth of the available
information on the web and the diversity of its users is a valuable resource for personalization. The
user profile includes the essential information about the user and it is an outcome of the user profiling
process. Building and maintaining dynamic user profile is the main challenge in developing an
effective personalized application. Many research projects and companies are interesting in
developing modeling systems and personalizing user s interaction with the system. We examine what

It may include demographic information, e.g., name, age, country, education level, etc. and should

constructing, maintaining and using user profiles. For example in e business systems, it captures
online users characteristics, knows online users, provides customized products and services, and
therefore improve user satisfaction. There are two approaches in user modeling process. These are the
generation of an initial user profile for a new user and the continuous update of the profile information
to adapt user s changing preferences, interests and needs. A major challenge within user profiling is
how user profiles can be constructed that accurately reflects users preferences. User profiling
techniques have widely applied in various web search, user adaptive software systems, web user
identification, personalization, recommendation, e market analysis, intelligent tutoring systems,
intelligent agents, as well as personalized information retrieval and filtering. The personalized systems
require some information about users in order to learn and respond to their interests and needs. The
motivation of building user profiles is that each system

The Field Of Machine Learning Essay
Literature Review Introduction: Machine learning is a part of software engineering that advanced from
the examination of pattern recognition and computational learning hypothesis in AI (artificial
Intelligence). Machine learning scrutinizes the study and development of algorithms that can gain
from and make forecasts of the information. The field of Machine Learning (ML) currently lacks a
common platform for the development of collaborative computing. By composing ML models and
algorithms in browser based programming languages, numerous exploration opportunities are
accessible. The most evident is programming similarity: almost all registering gadgets can team up on
the preparation of ML models by contributing some computational assets to the general preparing
methodology and can, with the same code, saddle the force of advanced prescient models of the same
gadgets (see Fig. 1). Figure 1: MLitB overview: This figure illustrates the process in ML Programmer

Control Mechanism
Southwest Airlines: Control Mechanisms
Southwest Airlines is a dynamic organization that is researched and studied by many. One reason for
this attention is the positive corporate culture. This culture attracts dynamic people to the organization
who are encouraged to be innovative and grow as leaders while supporting and promoting the mission
of the airline. This culture was established through effective planning, organizing and leadership. To
maintain this culture and the success of the airline, the function of controlling is critical. Systems must
be in place to monitor performance and outcomes to ensure that organizational goals are being met.

Because output is based on derived calculations of input, airlines could include or not include certain
data to make their output look better. Southwest uses a variety of output strategies to monitor the
company s performance and productivity (Owens Ritz, n.d.). The more factors that are included the
more accurate the output results.
The control mechanisms used by Southwest Airlines have been extremely effective and successful in
allowing the airline to respond to any problems or deficiencies whether financial or behavioral. The
control processes implemented by the airline allow it to take corrective action to repair these
deficiencies. For example, employees are expected to deliver exceptional service to both internal and
external customers of the airline. When behavior and work procedures do not meet the standards, the
controls in place allow management to recognize that there is a problem and corrective action is taken.
When an employee meets standards of performance, monitored through behavior and output controls,
they are rewarded with various rewards and incentives. Southwest Airlines sees that every employee is
valuable as an individual but even more valuable when all employees work as a team accomplishing a
common goal (Management Discussion, Feb 1, 2007).

culture at the airline breeds new leaders. The people of Southwest Airlines are

Essay On Athletic Trainers
It is believed that the first athletic trainers were present in the Greek and Roman civilizations.
Although life then was not as we know it to be today, these trainers also worked with coaches and
physicians to help athletes reach their full potential. In 1950, the National Athletic Trainers
Association was established in Kansas City, Missouri with 101 college athletic trainers. Later, in 1970,
the National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification was established in order to create
entry level standards for athletic trainers. Today, athletic training is a widely growing field and is
projected to grow faster than average in the next couple of years. An athletic trainer is a highly
qualified healthcare professional who works with athletes to prevent and manage rehabilitating
injuries that stem from physical activities. They are trained and evaluated in six major practice

The World On The Terrorism
When looking at the terrorism that ISIS has endued it has become very evident that a solution needs to
be drawn into action. In my opinion the only way to take down this organization is to begin to treat it
like the state that it is. A state is defined as: a nation or territory considered as an organized political
community under one government. ISIS has not only gained territory in Syria, Iraq and Istanbul but
according to New York Times columnist, Tim Arango, ISIS is building a capacity to govern. In 2014,
ISIS formally informed the world on their establishment of a caliphate. This caliphate is governed
under Islamic beliefs and rulers. They have begun issuing identification cards for residents,
promulgating fishing guidelines to preserve stocks, and requiring that cars carry tool kits for
emergencies (Arango). Believe it or not, ISIS has been a state for two years, regardless of their lack of
legitimacy, their consistent threat of violence against any of those who oppose their beliefs allows
them not only to get things done, but get them done efficiently. Whether we want to accept it, ISIS is a
state, and we need to treat it as such.
On the 29th of June in 2014, ISIS announced that a caliphate has been establish and the caliph was to
be Caliph Ibrahim. The saying goes, In order to kill a snake, one must cut off its head. The head of
ISIS is the caliphate in Iraq/Syria. I believe that collapsing the caliphate will collapse the organization.

Essay about The Digital Millennium Copyright Act
The Digital Millennium Copyright Act
Signed into law by President Clinton on October 28, 1998, the Digital Millennium Copyright Act
(DMCA) was the foundation of an effort by Congress to implement United States treaty obligations
and to move the nation s copyright law into the digital age. ( Executive Summary DMCA Report )
While this seems a valid description of the law, perhaps a more accurate interpretation lies in the
following statement: The DMCA is a piece of legislation rushed through Congress by the
entertainment industry lobbyists to protect its monopoly on commercially developed digital content,
cartels, price fixing, and to maintain its status quo as the single entity that can direct what should be
popular or used by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, the DMCA is often used by copyright holders to successfully fight Napster like services
and protect their anticopying technology . (Thibodeau 41) While it may seem logical that copyright
holders want to protect their technology and interests, the truth is that the law impinges on the right of
consumers to copy content. (Thibodeau 41) Obviously there is a conflict of interests at issue and a
consensus is needed to protect both consumers as well as copyright holders. However, violating the
founding principles of the nation, and citizen s rights to freedom of speech is not the answer.
Further, in court rulings related to the DMCA, the courts have imposed liability and enjoined conduct
for what in other contexts would be considered fair use or freedom of the press. In addition, the
DMCA has been used to stifle academic research, and to arrest and indict a Russian programmer who
had come to the United States to present a paper at a conference. These cases and actions raise
questions as to whether Congress has changed the established rules, rather than just modernizing
them, for the digital era. (Ottaviani C1) This conduct demonstrates the great abuse of the DMCA in
relation to the First Amendment; freedom of speech is the most important freedom granted to United
States citizens and it must be protected.
Before the DMCA was enacted, manufacturers of devices that permitted one to copy works generally
considered themselves protected by the fair use

Mining Control And Reclamation Act ( Smcra ) Essay
Dirty energy production in the United States has disastrous environmental impacts thanks to a broken
regulatory system. Environmental devastation from coal extraction is unmatched. The most popular
form of coal mining is mountaintop removal mining, a form of surface mining which removes
mountaintops to reach coal. The popularity of mountaintop removal mining is due to the cost
effectiveness of the process; unfortunately, the only one saving on costs is the miners, and at the
expense of the environment. Deforestation; harm in aquatic communities; accelerated sediment and
nutrient transport; increased algal production, as well as possible human health impacts from poorly
regulated remediation requirements by SMCRA, results in gross environmental degradation. This
essay proposes an amendment to section 515 (the approximate original contour requirement) of
SMCRA; restoration should require the reclaimed area to have the same environmental utility it had
prior to the mining operation.
A brief overview of mountaintop removal mining and mine remediation processes will be provided at
the outset of the essay. Further, the Surface Mining Control and Reclamation Act (SMCRA) will be
explained in regards to mountaintop removal mining remediation. The aforementioned is
supplemented by a brief explanation of other related regulations. Lastly, judicial precedent will be
used to verify the utility of the proposed amendments to SMCRA. The positive environmental impact
that would result if the

The Social Determinants Of Mental Health
Mental health is defined as an individual s optimal care in managing the stress of everyday life,
through their own unique approach and can efficiently and successfully make vital contribution within
the community they live in (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, CDC, 2013). Since a break in
a person s optimal mental state affects not only the individual but society, it is important to understand
what it means to have a break in one s state of mental health and the different categories that is
associated with mental illness. Focus will also be paid to why there is a need for the reformation of the

The Issue Of Governmental Power Essay
The essence of Government is power; and power, lodged as it must be in human hands, will ever be
liable to abuse. This quote is from James Madison, one of the most prominent, influential founding
fathers that was delivered at the Constitutional Convention in 1787. This is a statement that remains
relevant even today. It says as long as the government has power it will always be vulnerable to abuse,
a sentiment that is frequently seen throughout the course of American history. Madison s wary view of
governmental power is something that is seen in many aspects of America s distinct identity. An
identity that consists of various elements such as the ability to compromise within the government, a
capitalist economy that generally benefits wealthy elites, and a fixation on the country s military.
These attributes to the country s identity were all formed after the year 1787. Therefore, the American
identity that is widely acknowledged today was not formed when America declared independence, but
was instead created when America formed a strong national government and united the interests of the
previously individual state governments. This is supported by both The American Yawp and From
Colony to World Power: A History of the United States despite the expanse of time between each
textbook s publishing. The American Yawp is an online history textbook that was last modified in
August of 2016, in contrast to From Colony to World Power which was published in 1953. Both books

My Communication Skills Of My Life And How They Have Been...
Being able to communicate is a great skill that one can practice every day of our lives. There are
several ways or types of communication skills I have learned in this course such as vocally, written,
visually, or non verbally. In this assignment, I am going to write about my communication skills in
three periods of my life and how they have been developed. First, I would like to talk about how I was
when I was a little. When I was about five or six years old, I was spoiled between my family just like
most of the other kids. However, outside my house I can describe myself as a shy and quiet girl that I
sometimes in school I have been bullied by other students. When I was five years old my dad enrolled
me and my half brother who is as my age in a kindergarten school. I was always with my brother and I
felt safe around him, but when we become at the seventh age, my dad couldn t have enrolled us in the
same school because he was told that I was born at the last days of November and they would accept
me in the school with the next generation. Therefore, my dad decided that I am going to a private
school so that I can be with my generation.
At the first day of school I was afraid to be alone without having my brother around me. I just hated
that school because I was just by myself, and my classmates were not nice to me at all. The boys and
some girls were very mean and like to be bullying for example, they always take my stuff and refused

Did Jesus Deserve To Die Essay
Jesus was the man who claimed to be the Son of God. He lived a long, long time ago. Many scholars
say that Jesus was born around the time zero. It is believed that the virgin Mary gave birth to Jesus
through the Holy Spirit. Nobody knows exactly what Jesus looked like because there was no pictorial
evidence from his time to show what he looked like. In lots of present time pictures of Jesus, he has
long brown hair with brown eyes and a tanned skin. In my eyes Jesus had hazelnut brown hair with
the blue eyes. He also may have had a tanned skin because he lived in Israel which is a very hot
country though when he went to heaven my view changes a bit. I think when Jesus went to heaven he
had a pale skin colour like God and that it wasn t just lights shining on him. He may have looked like
an ordinary man but he turned the impossible possible. When he was alive he did many great things
but many people didn t like this. My question is did Jesus deserve to die?
Jesus did many great miracles but not everyone accepted what he did. The reason why Jesus
performed miracles was because he needed prove that he could heal the sick and why people should

I strongly believe that Jesus didn t deserve to die because he was merciful and loving to sinners. He
gave the sick hope and taught people great things like making mistakes isn t bad because you just need
to ask for forgiveness and then learn from it. So why kill someone who is trying to help you through
God? Many people didn t like him because he performed things that were impossible. For example; he

God was working through Jesus to help them. The only reason why they killed Jesus was because they

The Collapse Of Terrestrial And Jovian Planets
The solar nebula theory stated that the solar system started with a grain of dust. From that grain of
dust, our solar system expanded through three processes; condensation, accretion, and gravitational
collapse. Through condensation particles add matter from gas. In the process of accretion, particles
stick together forming masses. These masses collided at low velocities creating protoplanets. The
larger the protoplanet, the greater the gravitational pull, thus attracting more matter growing larger.
The third process, gravitational collapse occurred when gas from the nebula accumulated quickly. The
frost line also contributed to the differences between Terrestrial and Jovian planets. The frost line is
the line where the distance

Sidney Simmons Essay
Sidney Simmons liked to believe that she was an above average girl, despite nearly everyone around
her disagreeing. They saw her as plain, remarkably so. Never met a girl quite like Sidney, they d say.
How she got to be so normal is beyond me. When people attempted to find anything interesting or
abnormal about this lanky, pale faced girl, they d find that she was extraordinarily ordinary.
Her mother resented her for it. Marian Simmons and her husband, Albert Simmons, had been
incredibly special since birth, as had their parents been before them. Mr. and Mrs. Simmons were
Metamorphosers. Metamorphosers are similar to what humans call shapeshifters, however they are all

He was brilliant, even by Metamorphoser standards, and his actions were controlled by logic, which
led to people believing he was cold hearted. That was incorrect, as he loved Sidney, despite her not
being as amazing as was expected. She was his daughter, and he loved her.
On the other hand, Marian Simmons, a tall, blonde, narrow faced woman, had dreamed of having a
large, happy, exceptional family since she was eleven. She met Albert when she was fourteen, picking
him out as her future spouse within five minutes of first setting eyes on him. She was a very
determined woman and a tyrant of a mother. She was the one who decided that Sidney should be sent
to Resarcio s School for the Metamorphally Challenged.
Every child born to Metamorphoser parents had heard of Resarcio s. It was a threat, tantrum prone
children hearing about it often. If you don t stop whining, we ll send you to Resarcio s. Go to bed this
instant or you ll be heading to Resarcio s in the morning. Fortunately, Resarcio s School for the
Metamorphally Challenged was not as horrid a school as all the children supposed. There were no
secret sinister agendas to be spoken of, and though the current Resarcio and his employees were rather
strict, it was a school of the highest calibre. The school did what it was supposed to do: fix ordinary

The Effects Of Water Quality On The Water Supply Of...
Body Paragraph #1 Background:
Water is perhaps the most important component of any ecosystem. All living organisms need water to
grow and survive. As human population continues to grow, we need to understand and determine the
effects our habits will have on the ecosystems and our water supply. Four factors that can affect the
quality and importance of water are its abilities as a solvent, dipolar, benefits and costs. Acceptance
and long term sustainability of water quality interventions are pivotal to realizing continued health
benefits. According to the EPA (2015), only 3% of the world s water is suitable for drinking, 2% of
which is found in glaciers and ice, so in reality, only 1% of the earth s water is accessible and potable .
Body Paragraph # 2 Objective:
This paper highlights the need to effectively involve and design interventions to determine human
factors that can cause damage to the supply of drinking water and the damage to the environment.
Furthermore, that interventions are required to improve water quality and supply. A number of settings
and experiments were conducted of initial water sources and the effects that household factors can
lead to determine water qualities and levels of contamination. The results would show how such
household chemicals like oil, vinegar and soap cause turbidity, odor and color change in water supply.
Body Paragraph # 3 Hypotheses:
The premise for each experiment would have different results for a conclusion

Analysis Of The Movie Workplace Tension
Workplace Tension
In his 1916 silent film Intolerance, D.W. Griffith pioneered editing techniques that helped establish
montage as a core component of film language. Griffith set out to unite four disparate storylines under
the common theme of love s eternal battle with intolerance. While Griffith believed this film achieved
its goal, some of his contemporaries argued that Intolerance was a magnificent failure (Eisenstein,
241). Indeed, Eisenstein proposed that the unification Griffith sought to create was impossible because
the juxtaposition of these stories did not create new meaning. Instead, Eisenstein wrote that the lack of
conflict between shots prevented the synthesis of a higher meaning, or montage trope. While it is true
that Intolerance generally does not accomplish montage trope, especially when referencing Walt
Whitman s Out of the Cradle Endlessly Rocking, where Griffith explicitly attempts it, there are
examples of its implementation. Griffith does manage to achieve this higher meaning in the scene
depicting a labor strike. Eisenstein s claim that Griffith never incorporates montage tropes into his
films is false as demonstrated by the social criticism in the juxtaposition of the striking mill workers
and Mr. Jenkins.
Eisenstein describes montage trope as the juxtaposition of images resulting in a greater abstract
meaning. By abstract, Eisenstein means that the significance of the juxtaposition is not confined to the
individual images on the screen.

Aristotle s Impact On Macbeth
Aristotle had quite a few remarks on the idea and thought of character, especially in genres such as
tragedies. In Aristotle s opinion, a variety of aspects makes a tragedy, a tragedy, such as the
incorporation of a tragic figure who happens to have a tragic flaw that leads to the character s demise.
He also believes that a tragedy should have what is known as a dramatic irony, which occurs when the
audiences knows information the characters in the play does not, thus changing the watcher s
perception of the overall story. However, even when Aristotle s expectations of tragedies are oddly
specific, it is generally applicable to other tragedies of literary merit, such as stories from Shakespeare
and provides an insight as to how the taste and social structure of the ancient Greek times was
influenced heavily by the contemporary tragedies.
Aristotle s statements and definition of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Macbeth, the tragic hero would definitely be Macbeth himself who had one fateful flaw that
determined his future: his unchecked ambition. Due to this one tragic flaw in the makings, Macbeth
went from a bright future as king to his demise, which eventually lead to his death. Because of the
events that occurred in the latter half of Macbeth s life, the play evokes pity, albeit a little undeserved,
from the audience as Macbeth accepts his doom. Furthermore, the playwright elicits fear from the
watchers, which is caused by their fear of committing the same mistake as Macbeth. Aristotle believed
that inciting fear and pity from the audience is part of what makes a tragedy, a tragedy. To strengthen
the impact of the play, dramatic irony is employed, in which the audience can hear monologues
spoken by the actors about their actions. This thus changes the audience s perception of a character s

history for North America is known as the Year without Summer. The eruption of Mount Tambora

A recorded account but an individual by the name of Rajah provides insight into what happened the
day of the explosion. According to Rajah:
Between nine and ten p.m. ashes began to fall, and soon after a violent whirlwind ensued, which blew
down nearly every house in the village of Saugar, carrying the tops and light parts along with it.
In the part of Saugar adjoining [Mount Tambora] its effects were much more violent, tearing up by the
roots the largest trees and carrying them into the air together with men, houses, cattle, and whatever
else came within its influence. This will account for the immense number of floating trees seen at sea.
The sea rose nearly twelve feet higher than it had ever been known to be before, and completely
spoiled the only small spots of rice lands in Saugar, sweeping away houses and every thing within its
reach.
Rajahs eyewitness account provides insight into the devastation and chaotic climatic changes the local
inhabitants had to endure. He mentions winds, and waves twelve feet higher than normal, as well as
homes, people, and animals being swept away. An additional eyewitness account comes from a soldier
under the command of Sir Thomas Raffles

Unauthorized Immigration
Currently, the problem of unauthorized immigration divides Congress along political party lines.
Many politicians who are anti immigrant and pro immigrant seek for ways by which they can impact
their political base. As research shows, politicians and anti immigrant groups take advantage of the
mass media in order to persuade their constituency. The media uses quantitative data analysis of the
unauthorized population to create a media spectacle, by the portrayal of unauthorized immigrants as
criminals (Correa Cabrera 2012). This media spectacle serves to exploit the fears of many Americans
who oppose legalization. As a result, many people feel encouraged to contact their local
representatives to stand against the legalization of the unauthorized population.
Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965
First, it is important to present a historical context of unauthorized immigration to understand the
current dilemma. In order to change discriminatory immigration policies, the Immigration and
Nationality Act of 1965 was signed into law. After the 1965 act, immigration from Asia and Latin
America increased dramatically. However, for Latin America countries, the legislation restricted the
number of legal entries into the United States. Since the bill allowed for visas through family
reunification, the number of immigrants from Latin American countries increased, thus exhausting the
available visas. The result of these events created chain migration which caused unauthorized

State A Claim For Tortious Interference With A Prospective...
To state a claim for tortious interference with a prospective business advantage under Maryland law, a
plaintiff must allege: 1. intentional and willful acts; 2. calculated to cause damage to the plaintiff in
her lawful business; 3. done with the unlawful purpose to cause such damage and loss, without right or
justifiable cause on the part of the defendants (which constitutes malice); and 4. actual damage and
loss resulting. Carter v. Aramark Sports Entm t Servs., Inc., 153 Md. App. 210, 240 (2003). Therefore,
an essential element of a claim for tortious interference with a prospective business advantage is that
the defendant committed the act with an unlawful purpose which constitutes malice. Eastside Vend

  • 2. Fiasco Finish Descriptive Writing The Fiasco Finish As I struggled to continue running on that August afternoon just four months ago, the blinding rays of sunlight shone down upon me. The skin piercing rays of sunlight, along with the high heat and humidity, overpowered anyone that dared to take a step outside. My face glistening with sweat was proof of that. I once again automatically raised my right foot as my left racing spike hit the damp ground, still soggy from the previous day s rain. With my blue eyes focused on the maze, which was the North Branch Golf Course, a.k.a. the North Decatur High School cross country course. North Decatur High School s cross country course, I swung my rather thin arms to and fro and my dark blond ponytail bobbed with every step. Unfortunately, few markers or signs pointed the way. Consequently, I, along with the rest of the herd of about two dozen high school maze runners from four area schools, was left wondering where to go. My completely royal blue uniform glistened with sweat, and my breath cackled as I searched ahead for a faded yellow flag set in the short muddy grass marking the way. The fact it was the first meet of my junior season already made my task difficult enough; not knowing where to go just made matters worse. Fortunately, I recognized this final part of the ... Katrina s life was taken away from her at such a young age due to a sick human being. The experience of driving by where Katrina lived, where she was abducted, and where she was murdered was very moving. Katrina had a very long walk that night to reach her destination. Unfortunately she would never make it back to her house the evening of Valentine s Day. Instead she was brutally murdered and left to die in a field behind a bowling alley where now lies the Home Depot in Sayerville. Her body was found by people who were riding atv s behind the bowling alley in a wooded area. Her skull was fractured as she suffered blunt force trauma which induced her death. The Home Depot was sincere enough to leave a space where a memorial lies for Katrina where her body was found. Tomahl Cook is serving a life sentence in prison which he absolutely deserves, but none the less I think he should have got the death penalty. I feel if any human being abducts somebody and murders them should have their own life taken away from them. I think this is the proper way justice should be served. In the following investigation, the following question will be addressed: In what ways did economic and political issues in Germany between 1922 and 1932 contribute to Hitler s rise to power? The scope of my research will fall between the years of 1922 1932, the start of Hitler s attempt to run for office. A variety of primary and secondary sources will be used to answer the question. The bitterness caused upon the change of government systems in Germany will be analyzed, along with his childhood that all primarily drove Hitler to run for power. On the other hand, if this were to have existed in a dictatorship, one would merely get used to how something went because that was how life would be from now on if there was a dictator present. With all the mess and distress already present, the body of laws present in a democracy is much slower to be established, while it usually took much less time with a dictator. Rather than one person having to agree on a law or come up with one, a democracy requires the whole body instead to ratify or accept it. This is due to the fact that your own personal needs must be given up in a dictatorship, while they are respected and valued on the other hand in a democracy. Therefore, seeing from all these changes, the alteration in government that the German government faced must have produced overwhelming challenges for Germany as a whole. They must completely abandon the norm for them and accustom themselves once again to a new way of life. Not only will these bring upon conflicts within the human population, but in all aspects including political, social, and economic qualities. Social And Natural Resource Issues For this week s forum, I hold the view of a normative pluralistic which relates the environmental and natural resource issue of irreversible changes caused by negative consequences for a healthy planet. Normative pluralism is considered not to be as radical as the belief of a fundamentalist pluralist. Formally, a normative pluralist assumes that there is a plurality of bearers of value (Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy, 2011). The irreversible changes caused by negative consequences for a healthy planet can be associated will the failure to widely produce agreements globally to tackle environmental and natural resource issues. The consumer, as well as corporations, have built walls instead of demanding transparency. Journalists and the general public are not permitted to enter abattoirs of many corporations, leaving the judgement of slaughtering methods to the businesses themselves. State and federal regulations aren t always enforced, thus corporations decide what is humane . Profit organisations find the most efficient and lucrative system, yet ignore the secondary costs to natural systems. Pollan argues that in preventing abuse, only transparency holds businesses accountable to regulations. He states in Omnivore s Dilemma, No other country raises and slaughters its food animals quite as intensively or as brutally as we do . Many Americans would disagree because they are ignorant of the system. We have chosen not to see what really happens to the animals we eat, understandably, due to the unpleasant truths Pollan uncovers. As a summary, slaughterhouses kill a steer by stunning it, hanging it upside down by its leg and bleeding it out by cutting its throat. However, (according to McDonald s) they accept a five percent error rate, meaning when the first stunning does not kill the animal, the steer continues along the conveyor belt for processing. Since the theory of probability, (inaugurated by the French mathematicians Blaise Pascal and Pierre Fermat in 1654), was developed to quantify uncertain events in terms of their likelihood of occurrence, formal prediction is now viewed as a mathematical topic involving probabilistic modeling. Indeed, the mathematician Karl Pearson said in 1907 that the fundamental problem in statistics is prediction. Prediction, however, is usually not an end goal itself, but rather means to put probabilistic bounds on the relative frequency or likelihood of occurrence of future uncertain ... He said The determination of the value of an item must not be based on the price, but rather on the utility it yields.... There is no doubt that a gain of one thousand ducats is more significant to the pauper than to a rich man though both gain the same amount. He suggested there was a function U(w) (called a utility function) which describes the amount of value or utility that the individual gains by having an amount of wealth w. Rational individuals prefer more money to less money, so U(w) is increasing, but the incremental value of more wealth decreases as one becomes wealthier (decreasing marginal utility or value of wealth) so U(w) is concave. Bernoulli stated that people determined how much to pay for the game or gamble not based on the gamble s expected value but rather it s expected utility. Thus, if x1, x2, ..., xn are the possible outcomes of an uncertain economic endeavor or gamble, and their probabilities of occurrence are p1, p2, ..., pn then a decision maker with an initial wealth of W would make decisions based on their expected utility of their final wealth, U(W+x1)*p1 + U(W+x2)*p2 +...+ U(W+xn)*pn. There are many different types of leadership, all with their own appropriate time and place for use. An effective leader can be successful in all settings; it is important to develop a well rounded skill set to combat different leadership roadblocks. When one thinks of a leader in a business organization, most likely they are thinking of formal leader. Sometimes this type of leader is referred to as a manager. It is important to note that just because an organization provides its manager with certain formal rights, there is no assurance they will lead effectively. On the other hand, non sanctioned leadership is the ability to influence others outside the formal structure of the organization. People do not realize the importance of a leader with this capability, it is often overlooked. The fact of the matter is that this type of leader can be just as important or more important than the formal influence from a manager. Just as there are different types of leadership, there are different theories about the concept of leadership. Among these theories are Trait theories, behavioral theories, and contingent theories. Among the three different types of leadership theories are the Trait Theories. Trait theories of leadership identify the specific personality traits that distinguish leaders from non leaders. The Field Of Machine Learning Essay Literature Review Introduction: Machine learning is a part of software engineering that advanced from the examination of pattern recognition and computational learning hypothesis in AI (artificial Intelligence). Machine learning scrutinizes the study and development of algorithms that can gain from and make forecasts of the information. The field of Machine Learning (ML) currently lacks a common platform for the development of collaborative computing. By composing ML models and algorithms in browser based programming languages, numerous exploration opportunities are accessible. The most evident is programming similarity: almost all registering gadgets can team up on the preparation of ML models by contributing some computational assets to the general preparing methodology and can, with the same code, saddle the force of advanced prescient models of the same gadgets (see Fig. 1). The control mechanisms used by Southwest Airlines have been extremely effective and successful in allowing the airline to respond to any problems or deficiencies whether financial or behavioral. The control processes implemented by the airline allow it to take corrective action to repair these deficiencies. For example, employees are expected to deliver exceptional service to both internal and external customers of the airline. When behavior and work procedures do not meet the standards, the controls in place allow management to recognize that there is a problem and corrective action is taken. When an employee meets standards of performance, monitored through behavior and output controls, they are rewarded with various rewards and incentives. In my opinion the only way to take down this organization is to begin to treat it like the state that it is. A state is defined as: a nation or territory considered as an organized political community under one government. ISIS has not only gained territory in Syria, Iraq and Istanbul but according to New York Times columnist, Tim Arango, ISIS is building a capacity to govern. In 2014, ISIS formally informed the world on their establishment of a caliphate. This caliphate is governed under Islamic beliefs and rulers. They have begun issuing identification cards for residents, promulgating fishing guidelines to preserve stocks, and requiring that cars carry tool kits for emergencies (Arango). Believe it or not, ISIS has been a state for two years, regardless of their lack of legitimacy, their consistent threat of violence against any of those who oppose their beliefs allows them not only to get things done, but get them done efficiently. Whether we want to accept it, ISIS is a state, and we need to treat it as such. On the 29th of June in 2014, ISIS announced that a caliphate has been establish and the caliph was to be Caliph Ibrahim. The saying goes, In order to kill a snake, one must cut off its head. ( Executive Summary DMCA Report ) While this seems a valid description of the law, perhaps a more accurate interpretation lies in the following statement: The DMCA is a piece of legislation rushed through Congress by the entertainment industry lobbyists to protect its monopoly on commercially developed digital content, cartels, price fixing, and to maintain its status quo as the single entity that can direct what should be popular or used by ... (Thibodeau 41) While it may seem logical that copyright holders want to protect their technology and interests, the truth is that the law impinges on the right of consumers to copy content. (Thibodeau 41) Obviously there is a conflict of interests at issue and a consensus is needed to protect both consumers as well as copyright holders. However, violating the founding principles of the nation, and citizen s rights to freedom of speech is not the answer. Further, in court rulings related to the DMCA, the courts have imposed liability and enjoined conduct for what in other contexts would be considered fair use or freedom of the press. In addition, the DMCA has been used to stifle academic research, and to arrest and indict a Russian programmer who had come to the United States to present a paper at a conference. These cases and actions raise questions as to whether Congress has changed the established rules, rather than just modernizing them, for the digital era. (Ottaviani C1) This conduct demonstrates the great abuse of the DMCA in relation to the First Amendment; freedom of speech is the most important freedom granted to United States citizens and it must be protected. Environmental devastation from coal extraction is unmatched. The most popular form of coal mining is mountaintop removal mining, a form of surface mining which removes mountaintops to reach coal. The popularity of mountaintop removal mining is due to the cost effectiveness of the process; unfortunately, the only one saving on costs is the miners, and at the expense of the environment. Deforestation; harm in aquatic communities; accelerated sediment and nutrient transport; increased algal production, as well as possible human health impacts from poorly regulated remediation requirements by SMCRA, results in gross environmental degradation. • 39. The Issue Of Governmental Power Essay The essence of Government is power; and power, lodged as it must be in human hands, will ever be liable to abuse. This quote is from James Madison, one of the most prominent, influential founding fathers that was delivered at the Constitutional Convention in 1787. This is a statement that remains relevant even today. It says as long as the government has power it will always be vulnerable to abuse, a sentiment that is frequently seen throughout the course of American history. Madison s wary view of governmental power is something that is seen in many aspects of America s distinct identity. An identity that consists of various elements such as the ability to compromise within the government, a capitalist economy that generally benefits wealthy elites, and a fixation on the country s military. These attributes to the country s identity were all formed after the year 1787. Therefore, the American identity that is widely acknowledged today was not formed when America declared independence, but was instead created when America formed a strong national government and united the interests of the previously individual state governments. This is supported by both The American Yawp and From Colony to World Power: A History of the United States despite the expanse of time between each textbook s publishing. All living organisms need water to grow and survive. As human population continues to grow, we need to understand and determine the effects our habits will have on the ecosystems and our water supply. Four factors that can affect the quality and importance of water are its abilities as a solvent, dipolar, benefits and costs. Acceptance and long term sustainability of water quality interventions are pivotal to realizing continued health benefits. • 45. Analysis Of The Movie Workplace Tension Workplace Tension In his 1916 silent film Intolerance, D.W. Griffith pioneered editing techniques that helped establish montage as a core component of film language. Griffith set out to unite four disparate storylines under the common theme of love s eternal battle with intolerance. While Griffith believed this film achieved its goal, some of his contemporaries argued that Intolerance was a magnificent failure (Eisenstein, 241). Indeed, Eisenstein proposed that the unification Griffith sought to create was impossible because the juxtaposition of these stories did not create new meaning. Instead, Eisenstein wrote that the lack of conflict between shots prevented the synthesis of a higher meaning, or montage trope. While it is true that Intolerance generally does not accomplish montage trope, especially when referencing Walt Whitman s Out of the Cradle Endlessly Rocking, where Griffith explicitly attempts it, there are examples of its implementation. Griffith does manage to achieve this higher meaning in the scene depicting a labor strike. Eisenstein s claim that Griffith never incorporates montage tropes into his films is false as demonstrated by the social criticism in the juxtaposition of the striking mill workers and Mr. Jenkins. Eisenstein describes montage trope as the juxtaposition of images resulting in a greater abstract meaning.
