Evaluating Health Behaviors And Health Outcomes Associated...
My research project is primarily focused on examining the uses of Nightscout and evaluating changes
in health behaviors and health outcomes associated with its use on patients in managing their diabetes.
Nightscout is a do it yourself (DIY) mobile technology system developed by patients and caregivers to
monitor blood glucose levels remotely using Cloud technology. We are interested in studying
Nightscout because it is a new patient created innovation, and is the first successful DIY system to
allow patients and caregivers remote access to data, such as blood glucose levels, through mobile
technology. Since Nightscout is still in the earliest stages of development, we focused on studying the
community of Nightscout users for issues such as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Online communities, such as CGM in the Cloud Facebook group, are a source of support for many
patients and caregivers in overcoming the challenges of managing diabetes.4 The CGM in the Cloud
Facebook group is a virtual community of family members and patients using Nightscout.3 The
Nightscout project began in February 2013, when the parent, a software programmer, of a newly
diagnosed patient started using a continuous glucose monitoring system (CGMS or CGM) to monitor
his son s glucose levels.3 Since the foundation of Nightscout in 2013, the Facebook page has gained
over 20,000 members. The Nightscout Project is a patient designed, technology driven collaborative
health innovation, however, it s a DIY device not yet approved by the Food and Drug Administration
(FDA), as a result it faces a number of legal challenges. 3 During the developmental stage of
Nightscout, there were many potential points of technical failure in the hardware and software system,
including the loss of glucose data or error in medical decisions. During these times, the average, non
technical patient and caregiver relied heavily on online peer support groups, such as the CGM in the

The Idea Of Narcissistic Love
Another example that frames a negative love through a more narcissistic form of intemperance
combined with a necessity (a counterpart to freedom). The contrast of a narcissistic love (an evil love
that necessitates tyrannical measures) to a sacrificial love that promotes freedom reinforces the ways
in which love is framed as good or evil. The description between the attributes of the gates to the
gardens shows these opposing differences. The Book 2, Canto 12, Stanza 43 opens with goodly it was
enclosed round about, which immediately gives the sense that this enclosure is not inclusive. The
following lines, as well their entered guests to keep within / as those unruly beasts to hold without are
juxtaposed to one another and opposed in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, the mirror stanza in Adonis garden allows freedom by which both in and out men moten
pas, portraying a good love as giving, taking/receiving and letting go (III.2.31). This is in opposition
to Acrasia s exclusive love, whereas a good love demonstrates inclusivity. Looking at this from an
overarching view, Acrasia s love necessitates a rationale to subjugate its guests as opposed to Adonis
garden that represents freedom two extremes that constantly exert push and pull forces on one another.
In each mirrored stanza their power relations further demonstrates the way frame in which Spenser
defines a negative positive love. Accordingly, in Acrasia s garden the line, wisdoms power and
temperance s might displays a fear of temperance and wisdom as well as an inability to defend against
a justified good love and eke the gate was wrought of substance light / rather for pleasure, then for
battery or fight; Spenser frames a bad love as a thin, weak fence that fears a good love s dominant
power. In contrast, good love conjures a picture equivalent to the gates of heaven the one of iron, the
other of bright gold, and further reinforced by its impenetrability, that none might thorough break, nor
over stride

Stanley s Milgram Experiments
In the Stanley Milgram experiment different people were chosen to do an experiment where they had a
man under cover and asked him questions. If he got the answer wrong he was shocked. Each time he
answered incorrectly the voltage was increased. The voltage started from forty five and increased all
the way up to four hundred and fifty. The actor was placed in a room where the test subjects could not
see them. The point of this experiment is to see if the subjects are willing to continue the experiment
even though they observed that the actor is in pain, just because a man in a white jacket tells them to.
Some of the people have the will to refuse to continue the experiment, but others continue it up until
the last voltage power possible. This experiment ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thank God the ambulance came because the man would have just been laying there forever. In the
video the bystander they dress up a man and a woman and have they stand on the side of a busy
sidewalk. The point of the experiment is to see if people will stop and help you when you are in
trouble. They took the same man and dressed him in different attire. The first time the man was
dressed like a hobo. He laid on the end of the steps and act like a drunk who was depressed. No one
stopped to ask was he ok and if he needed help. The second time he was dressed in a suit. It was
almost instant he received help. Then it was a woman and no one really helped her. The man did one
last experiment where he act like he was in pain and he was dressed normal. Not one person stopped
and helped him. This experiment just shows what social class you have to be in order to be treated a
certain way. They were quick to help the man when he was in a suit. On the other hand when he was
dressed like a hobo he did receive one aid only the stares of the people. I also notice it was a train
reaction. Once one person took a stand and helped other people came along. People

Essay on Canto V of Dante’s Inferno
Canto V of Dante s Inferno In Dante s Inferno, part of The Divine Comedy, Canto V introduces the
torments of Hell in the Second Circle. Here Minos tells the damned where they will spend eternity by
wrapping his tail around himself. The Second Circle of Hell holds the lustful; those who sinned with
the flesh. They are punished in the darkness by an unending tempest, which batters them with winds
and rain. Hell is not only a geographical place, but also a representation of the potential for sin and
evil within every individual human soul. As Dante travels through Hell, he sees sinners in increasingly
more hideous and disgusting situations. For Dante, each situation is an image of the quality of any
soul that is determined to sin in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Others include Cleopatra, Achilles, and Semiras, each with their own story of love and lust. Dante is at
once filled with great pity for those who were torn from the mortal life by love (V. 69). With Virgil s
permission, Dante asks to call to those two swept together so lightly on the wind and still to sad (V.
74). One woman answers him, recognizing him as a living soul. Dante knows her as Francesca, and
she relates to him how love was her undoing. She was reading with a man, Paolo, about an Arthurian
Legend of Lancelot, how love had mastered him (V. 129). The two came to a particularly romantic
moment in the story, and could not resist exchanging a single kiss; that very day, they were killed
because of it. Dante is so overcome with pity that he faints.
Paolo and Francesca represented, or symbolize, sinful love by example. They show how an
intrinsically noble emotion, love, if contrary to God s law, can bring two essentially fine persons to
damnation and spiritual ruin. Dante s personal response of overwhelming pity should not blind us to
the justice of the penalty. Dante describes himself as fainting at the end of Francesca s recital, his
purpose is partly to portray the attractiveness of the sin. Dante allows the lovers the bitter sweetness of
inseperability in Hell, but they have lost God and thus corrupted their personalities; they can hardly be
considered happy. In a sense, they have what they wanted; they continue in the lawless condition that

Comparison Of Black Beauty And Ella Enchanted
The books Black Beauty by Anna Sewell and Ella Enchanted by Gail Carson Levine may seem worlds
apart at first glance. Black Beauty is a classic tale about a horse in the 1800 s as he is passed from
owner to owner, each treating him with different levels of respect and kindness, showing whatever
social class, age, or gender someone may be or belong to, kindness is a choice, and it really does affect
people and animals. Ella Enchanted is a more recent story, but no less compelling. It is a creative
retelling of Cinderella, with a protagonist cursed to obedience by a fairy, yet she never stops trying to
break the curse. In the end she risks everything at the three balls with the prince only to have things
turn out in a way she never could ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They are happy when with people who are good, like the Birtwicks, Jerry, Mandy (Ella s fairy
godmother), and Char (the prince). However, it is only a problem when selfish people are giving the
orders, like Hattie commanding Ella to be a slave, and the earl s wife making his head stretch back
painfully with the bearing rein. While the specifics of the conflicts are different, their general idea is
the same. The characters are different, both at their surfaces and cores, but they are also similar on the
inside as well. Ella is a female human, while Black Beauty is a male horse. However, Ella goes out
and actively tries to break the curse (like running away to find Lucinda), while Black Beauty only
does his best to follow commands, even if a stone is breaking apart his foot. They both refuse to give
up, carrying on in their own ways. They make the best of what they have, and find their own joys,
among their hardships, like Ella learning another language with her friend Areidia, and Black Beauty
playing in the fields although he was working hard as Jerry s cab horse. Both characters are in similar
situations, and while they respond differently, they both persevere. Both themes are about kindness
and freedom, but they explore them differently. In Black Beauty, the theme addresses the person with
the power, to be kind to the people under your jurisdiction. It

Tyler was tired. He didn t exactly remember why, and he didn t want to try to, either because it would
take too much energy. He could have been doing homework, or he could have been playing video
games. He didn t really care. He said goodnight to Jake, his dog. Surprisingly, he didn t fall asleep
instantaneously. It was like his body didn t want him to sleep.
Suddenly, he was on a tower in a castle. He had a bow, and there were a bunch of zombies below him.
He was aware he was dreaming, but this didn t seem like a nightmare. It was fun, almost like a game.
He wasn t the only one on the tower. A collection of people were also there with him. They didn t look

He woke up in a cylindrical room. It had no door, windows, or any way to get out. Tyler couldn t even

dreaming, and whenever he died in his dream he went to a new dream. It already seemed like it had
been way more than a night of dreaming. Maybe if he went through enough dreams he would wake
up. All he had to do was die in each dream. Tyler laughed.
All I have to do is die in every dream. Never thought I d say that, whispered Tyler. He kept laughing,
then stopped because he probably sounded crazy. Then he got to the task of wondering what he was
going to do. Tyler didn t know how long he waited in the room. It could have been years, it could have
been seconds. Then he noticed that the ground had become slippery. Then it was like the floor was a
puddle. He couldn t find where the water was coming from. It rose to his ankles. Then to his knees. It
kept rising until Tyler could swim in it. Not that he would want to, seeing as the water was freezing
cold. As it rose, it got hotter, until the water was at his shoulders and it was as hot as a hot spring.
Maybe that s where I am. Stuck in some underground hot spring thought Tyler. Luckily, he could

Morrie s Theory Of Detachment
Morrie used several techniques to help him through the time he was diagnosed with ALS. One of the
methods he used was Theory of Detachment . With this Morrie was able to accept everything that
happened to him by detaching himself from what was happening. He learned this from the Buddhist,
they said nothing is permanent. You can experience things such as happiness, anger, or depression, but
don t let these emotions penetrate you, you let them penetrate you fully. Detachment is the reason he
doesn t fear death anymore and gladly accepts it. He may be angry or even cry in the morning ,but he
takes a deep breath and just detaches away from those emotions and begins to think logically again.
He also does this because he wants to die peacefully. Even if he s dying from coughing or choking, he
wants to be able to just accept that it is his time an die in peace. He doesn t want to die in a state of
fear, he wants to be able to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When he first got the news he was scared, of course, wondering how everybody was still having a
marvelous day around him even though he just got terrible news. But he soon came to accept his
disease, even though he couldn t do anything he loved to do anymore such as swimming and dancing,
he never gave in and accepted his death with open arms. Even though the disease, detached him from
his body slowly, he still had his knowledge and emotions to give to everyone. He didn t want the
disease to take over his emotions too ,so he learned to detach himself from his emotions and
situations. He would let the emotions penetrate him fully, so he could truly and fully experience them.
After he experienced them, he was able to detach himself from it, only letting himself experience
these emotions for only a moment. I imagine when he died when everyone was in another room, he
died peacefully. He didn t to die upset, and he would ve have been had he seen his family watching

The Magnicent Earth s Surface
One other aspect of the magnificent earth is the surface itself. The layers of the Earth are very
different in their composition. The crust, mantle, and core of the earth are all very fascinating. Also, a
theory called plate tectonics attempts to explain many phenomena that occur on the surface of the
earth, such as earthquakes. Some properties of the earth s surface are its layers, the plate tectonics
theory, and earthquakes. The layers of the earth are very complex. These layers are the crust, mantle,
and core (Wile 132). The core is divided into two regions: the inner core and the outer core (Wile
131). Earth s crust is defined as Earth s outermost layer of rock (Wile 132). The thickness of the crust
averages 55 to 12 miles (Wile 132). In addition to rock, the crust of the earth contains soil and
sediment (Wile 132). Sediment is defined as small, solid fragments of rock and other materials that are
carried and deposited by wind, water, or ice (Wile 132). Sedimentary rock is also found on the earth s
crust. Sedimentary rock is rock formed when chemical reactions cement sediments together, hardening
them (Wile 133). Igneous rock, rock that forms from molten rock , is also found in the crust (Wile
133). Melted rock that cools and re solidifies becomes igneous rock (Wile 133). The last kind of rock
in the crust is called meromorphic rock (Wile 133). This is igneous or sedimentary rock that has been
changed into a new kind of rock as a result of great pressure

Disadvantages Of Traveling The World
Paris, France for two months, Rome, Italy for three weeks and, Accra, Ghana for one year sounds like
the perfect life for most millennials. Traveling the world in addition to experiencing different cultures
is the ideal life to live in the eyes of the youth. Simple yet paralyzing situations such as money
problems can result in people staying where they are. Luckily there are jobs where we can make a
living off of our dreams. Being an au pair, traveling nurse, or graphic designers balances the situation
of money and a way of travel. These jobs are also very diverse in terms of the working field. With
advantages comes disadvantages each different for every job. Au pairs are not common in the United
States but it is one of the best ways to travel, learn a new language, and get money all at the same
time. To apply for this job the applicant must be single, between the ages of 18 and 30, no children,
good English skills, graduate of secondary school, and no criminal record (Au Pair World 1). Being an
au pair is similar to being a nanny but the age requirements are different. Au pairs are usually admitted
into a host family in France. The host family will provide shelter, food, and all the basic needs for
survival and in return he or she will babysit the host parents children. During the weekends the au pair
is allowed to roam around the city and explore their culture. Another benefit to being an au pair
through a program connected with au pair services, workers have the opportunity to learn another
language during their twelve month stay (Au Pair World 3). But on the contrary, there has been reports
of au pairs abused during their stay making this job a blessing but a possible curse. If looking after a

A Short Note On Non Hodgkin s Lymphoma
Non Hodgkin s lymphoma is one of the most common types of cancers in the United States that affect
mostly older adults. The American Cancer Society estimates that 72,580 people in the Unites States
will be diagnosed with the disease just in the year 2016 alone. Of that number, there are about 20,150
people expected to die from the disease. There is also a 2% chance of people in the United States
developing the disease (American cancer society, n.d.). There have been many researches done about
the causes, prevention and treatment options of the disease which has helped clinicians and patients to
have better outcome and ultimately decrease the death rates of the disease. As such, clinicians should
pay close attention to the disease, learn ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 2013 King H did an overview of non Hodgkin s lymphoma. The author cited Cancer Research UK
(CRUK) 2013) which identified Non Hodgkin s lymphoma as being the sixth most common type of
cancer in the United Kingdom (UK) with at least 85,000 people living with the disease. According to
King H, in 2010 there were 12,180 newly diagnosed cases of the disease in the UK and 4,436 people
also died from the disease.
Pathophysiology
Copstead and Banasik (2012) describe the pathophysiology of Non Hodgkin s Lymphoma as being
similar to that of other malignant cancers. All of the tumor cells originate from a single gene mutant
precursor cell. It is believed that viruses such as the Epstein Barr virus and the human T cell leukemia
virus, type 1(HTLV) can actually cause some lymphomas like the Burkitt lymphoma and Adult T cell
lymphoma to develop. The authors maintain that Non Hodgins s lymphoma are more likely to spread
early in comparison with Hodgkin disease. Most of the time these people with Non Hodgins s
lymphoma are often diagnosed at stage III or stage IV of the disease. Overall, there is a 5 year survival
rate for all of the different types of lymphoma (p.229).
Clinical manifestations
The clinical manifestations of non Hodgins s lymphoma may include painless lymphadenopathy,
fever, night sweats, weight loss, malaise, and pruritus (Copstead Krikhorn, 2012).

Social Cohesion And Its Effects On Society
Individuals create friendships, bonds, and relationships in society to strengthen not only that
individual s social cohesion, but the social cohesion of the collective community. Social cohesion is
used to maintain the structure and integrity of a society. There are many aspects of society which draw
individuals and groups, either closer, or further away from other individuals or groups. However,
many times social cohesion depends heavily on the act of inclusion and exclusion of certain
individuals from a given society or community. Exclusion or inclusion depends greatly on financial
status and resources an individual has. In recent years researchers have seen variant decreases in social
cohesion, and have seen governments take action in order to prevent the downfall. In general, social
cohesion is created through means of communication amongst a society, along with the relationships,
connections, and bonds formed within the society (Berger Schmitt, 2002, p. 405). However, it goes
much deeper than just purely relations formed within communities, social cohesion in itself has a lot
to do with economic status and the ability to obtain and access resources required to be able to partake
in society and maintain subjective well being (Klein, 2011, p. 900). Examples of resources that may
strengthen social cohesion are; access to improved healthcare or education, access to community
centres, parks, public events, and employment. Access to proper resources can bring communities

Toward a New Trilateral Strategic Security Relationship: United States, Canada, and Mexico
The article Toward a New Trilateral Strategic Security Relationship written by Richard J. Kilroy, Jr.,
Abelardo Rodríguez Sumano and Todd S. Hataley, published in the Journal of Strategic Security;
introduces the idea(s) of a trilateral strategic security relationship between the United States, Canada,
and Mexico. The term trilateral means to involve or share three parties, therefore this is a perfect term
to use when it comes to creating a strategic security plan between the three countries discussed in this
paper.
The Trilateral Commission has three separate regions: European, North American, and Asia Pacific; it
created in the early 1970 s, as a way to increase global interdependence. Trilateral summits have taken
place globally between said countries in regards to the security issues each country is perceptible to as
far as acts of terror, natural disasters and/or epidemic issues. Trilateral commissions are non
governmental, policy oriented groups that focus on discussion. The sole purpose of a trilateral
commission is to encourage an understanding and mutual aid among the three regions that make up
said commission on shared global issues. The United States, Canada, and Mexico make up the North
American Commission and the discussion of joining forces to create a strategic security plan with
each other has been a heavy topic of discussion. The United States feels that this

A Brief Note On Mediates Contact Dependent Homophilic
Dscam:
Mediates contact dependent homophilic repulsion
Dscam diversity underlies a robust cellular recognition mechanism allowing dendrites to distinguish
between surfaces of different cells.
Main arguments is that Dscam mediated self avoidance is a general organizing mechanism operating
throughout Drosophila nervous system.
da neurons associate closely with the epidermis as they extend across the body wall; thus, their
dendrites create a two dimensional meshwork in which developing branches frequently encounter
other dendrites (different from CNS where axons and dendrites form 3D by interaction)
when deficient in Dscam function, individual dendrites do not recognize sister branches and fail to
initiate repulsion, leading to a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Dscam is required for proper segregation of sister axon branches (Wang et al., 2002), and analogous to
the self avoidance control in da neurons, specific isoforms do not appear to provide instructive cues
for this segregation event. It has been argued that this reflects a role for Dscam in mediating self
recognition and repulsion between these axons
In da neurons, dendrite selfavoidance defects were separable from growth, branching, and targeting
errors and were fully penetrant. Thus, our data directly implicate Dscam in self avoidance and
demonstrate this role at the level of interactions between individual branches.
Mechanism:
identical Dscam ectodomains on the surfaces of isoneuronal dendrites recognize each other and induce
a subsequent repulsive signal that is mediated by domains in the cytoplasmic tail.
How: o First, identical Dscam isoforms expressed in two cell populations in vitro induced their
aggregation in an isoform specific manner, showing that Dscam provides cells with the ability to
distinguish between different cell surfaces. o Second, ectopic (in an abnormal place or position)
expression of identical Dscam isoforms on the dendrites of different cells, which normally overlap,
promoted growth away from each other.
From in vitro adhesion to in vivo repulsion
Our data suggest that the dendrites of da neurons convert an initial Dscam dependent cell surface
interaction into a repulsive response, which leads to dendrite separation and receptive

Inner Conflict In Hamlet
Through the multitude of analyses of Hamlet that have occurred since Shakespeare debuted the play in
1783, multiple stances can be made from the plot and dialogue within. For instance, in Act Three
Scene Three a religious reading can be made. The scene depicts two major inner conflicts that occur in
both Claudius and Hamlet through the use of dueling soliloquies.
To start, Claudius is battling with his inner guilt and attempting to ask for forgiveness for his sins, but
he refuses to give up the prizes he obtained by sinning. This conflict is seen when Claudius says,
...since I am still possessed/ of those effects for which I did the murder: My crown, mine own
ambition, and my queen. May one be pardoned and retain th offense (Act e. Scene 3. Lines 57 60). He
was given the crown and Gertrude by killing King Hamlet, which causes him to battle with staying on
the strict moral code that his religion set for him, since he has found being king to be wonderful. He
enjoys having power, and he does not want to lose that power no matter what the Bible has laid out for
him and how he s supposed to act. However, despite his clear yearn for power, he is seen asking for
forgiveness. This can most easily be noted in line 40 when he says, O, my offense is rank, it smells to
Heaven and line 56 of the scene when Claudius says, Forgive me my foul murder , since it proves that
Claudius is aware that he sinned and must now ask for forgiveness. The act of asking for forgiveness

Movie Critique on the Industrial Organizational Psychology present in Antz
Introduction
The 1998 film Antz is an excellent depiction of the industrial and organizational work force. Being
that the film is a Dream Works animation, it has a simple and attention grabbing plot that is given to
the viewer through the perspective of a hero, and in this context an colony ant worker named Z
(Darnell et al., 1998). This peculiar, open minded ant portrayed several topics related to industrial
organizational psychology such as leadership, occupational stress, and job satisfaction. In addition to
the prevalent presence of industrial psychology that can be seen in the main character, other characters
and details of the plot are representative of industrial psychology as well. Elements such as
organizational commitment and employee selection are intriguingly exemplified through this
moralistic story of ants (Darnell et al., 1998).
In the film Antz, the once miserable and dissatisfied protagonist finds bliss and hope in the colony
princess, Princess Bala at a worker s bar. Z leaves the work colony for a day to pursue his newfound
love interest by pretending to be a soldier for a day. Unfortunately and unexpectedly, Z is sent into
battle during his quest to re connect with Princess Bala (Darnell et al., 1998). However, he turns out to
be the only soldier to survive the battle. This results in him seeing the princess again, insulting the

Coding Theory, Its Components And Its Practical Applications
This case study covers the coding theory, its components and its practical applications. Coding theory,
sometimes called logarithmic coding hypothesis, manages the configuration of lapse remedying codes
for the dependable transmission of data crosswise over uproarious channels.
Error coding is utilized as a part of numerous advanced provisions like workstation memory, attractive
and optical information stockpiling media. The investigation of mistake rectifying codes and the
cohorted arithmetic is known as coding hypothesis. In information theory, the amount of positions at
which the relating images are distinctive between two strings is Hamming distance. Hamming code is
a set of error correction codes that might be utilized to recognize and right bit errors that can happen
when machine information is moved or put away.
There is lot of examples of coding theory; one of the biggest examples of its use is in communication
field, i e modulation, encryption and decryption of signal.
Coding Theory A Case
In 1948, Claude Shannon, working at Bell Laboratories in the USA, introduced the entire subject of
coding hypothesis by indicating that it was conceivable to encode messages in such a path, to the point
that the amount of additional bits transmitted was as little as would be prudent. Unfortunately, his
confirmation did not give any express formulas for these ideal codes. It was two years after the fact
that Richard Hamming, likewise at Bell Labs, started considering

The Affordable Care Act And Emergency Medical Services
The Affordable Care Act and Emergency Medical Services
Each year in the United States approximately 114 million people visit their local Emergency
Department (ED), and 16 million of these patients arrive by Emergency Medical Services (EMS).
(Board et al.) Health care in America has moved from an individual, fee for service health care
system, towards a more integrated healthcare system i.e., The Affordable Care Act (ACA), which is a
government controlled healthcare system, and is set up to be a value based payment system. The ACA
will expand and transform the roles of EMS within the healthcare system. EMS s ability to survive
and thrive in this new era of healthcare, will revolve, in part, on its ability to articulate its value to
healthcare providers, healthcare organizations, hospital systems, and payers, as well as patients and
family members. (Smith) EMS can thrive in the future, if it embraces change. John F. Kennedy had
this to say about change, Change is the law of life. And those who look only to the past or present are
certain to miss the future. (BrainyQuote) In order for EMS to thrive in the changes that the future is
bringing, it must: focus on mobile integrated healthcare, be data driven in their clinical practices.
There are three other areas that will be discussed at length, EMS agencies should be actively pursuing
a community paramedicine program, EMS using remote telemedicine and EMS moving towards a
value based payment system.

Impacts Of Teen Pregnancy
Although the pregnancy rate in adolescents has declined steadily in the past 10 years, it remains a
major public health problem with lasting repercussions for the teenage mothers, their infants and
families, and society as a whole. Successful strategies to prevent adolescent pregnancy include
community programs to improve social development, responsible sexual behavior education, and
improved contraceptive counseling and delivery. Many of these strategies are implemented at the
family and community level. The family physician plays a key role by engaging adolescent patients in

It is essential that teens get involved in childbirth education classes that are specifically developed for
the teenage population. These classes can teach teens vital information concerning pregnancy, good

Death by Landscape and the Canadian Identity Essay
Death by Landscape Death by Landscape shows subtle, but nonetheless significant, qualities regarding
Canadian culture. The author (Margaret Atwood) uses Canadian landscape, Native culture, and
character attributes to symbolize the Canadian identity. The struggle between Native Canadians and
European Canadians to define what makes somebody Canadian is a major theme in this story. The
historically inaccurate depiction of Native practices, as well as the less than flattering depiction of
Native people, is an all too real issue which is alluded to in this story. Another major reference to
Canadian identity is the depiction of the differences between Americans and Canadians. The
characters, Lucy and Lois, symbolize Americans and Canadians. ... Show more content on

So they have created extreme renditions of Native peoples both negative and positive. Negative, so
that they themselves can feel superior by comparison. Positive so that they can have something to
conform to. A truly Canadian ceremony that they feel their ancestors may have lacked. The use of
exaggerated Native practices enriches the story, because it triggers a feeling of distaste with Lois as
well as the reader. However, they also bring up an unspoken conflict within the Canadian identity
between Native and European culture. The use of these practices demonstrates the need for European
Canadians to both mock and Emulate Native practices. A major focus of this story is the Canadian
landscape, and how it affects its residents. It is an accurate demonstration of how nature affects the
Canadian identity. The Canadian wilderness becomes a part of Lois through the tragedy that has
occurred. Although she realizes it late, the landscape of the wild has become a part of her personal
identity. As she ages, Lois slowly becomes more aware of her obsession with the Canadian wilderness.
This quotation demonstrates her recognition, at the beginning of the story, of her relationship with the
Canadian wilderness. #4 In this passage, Lois realizes the affect of her husband s death and the aging
of her children has had on her. She has become less distracted by every day activities and has more

The Root Cause Of Piracy In Somalia
Many people of Somalia find piracy to be acceptable. The reason being that it is for the good of
others, others meaning them. Piracy had become their way of life. Had other nations reached out to
Somalia, things would have been different. However, the world is harsh and cruel, and many would
rather look after themselves than a stranger. Instead, nations began to trash the land of Somalia. The
people no longer see a point in trying to gain profit through morally correct manners, more so because
their endeavors are fruitless. It began with fishermen who were tired of foreign fishing fleets taking
advantage of the instability in the country, dumping toxic waste and illegally fishing in the Somali
waters. These activities hampered the economic, environmental and health of the country and its
people (Johnson). The people of Somalia ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Year Round School Pros And Cons
Do you believe year round schooling should become a social norm and overtake regular schooling?
Most think it should not; my reasearch shows the cons, negatives, and disadvantages of year round
schooling. Year round schooling: makes schools lose money, makes students miss out on important
opportunities, and makes scheduling difficult. There is no guarantee that students who participate in
year round schooling do better than students who participate in regular schooling. We should not have
year round schooling because it hampers the student. Some fail to realize the financial negatives year
round schooling brings. After school activities and extracurricular activities may get dropped in order

Most new teachers do training during the Summer before the new school year begins; but with year
round schooling, teachers need to find different forms of Summer training. Year round schooling
summers aren t long enough for some students when compared to regular schooling summers. Some
students may not be able to handle the longer periods of time. Students may even struggle to stay
focused in the classroom.
Year round schooling even brings Summer break difficulties, given the seemingly endless school year.
If students are still in school over the Summer, it s difficult for parents to schedule meaningful family
time. Students are even missing out on unique, important learning opportunities. Missing out on
experiences and lessons you can t get in a classroom. Summer break is the main relief teachers have
after an intense school year. People also fail to realize the schooling difficulties year round schooling
brings. It eliminates the idea of a single class using a classroom and class sizes would be longer and
larger. Special accommodations would need to be made for graduation and parent teachers
conferences due to different scheduling. Additional demands would need to be required on school
support staff such as: janitors, cafeteria workers, security, etc. Schools would lose money on gas and
electric bills because they would be open

Pros And Cons Of Fordism
Fordism a good idea or a bad one?
The purpose of this paper is to state that Fordism was not a stable production system, even though it
achieved great success when it was first applied by Henry Ford. The Fordism production method will
be critically assessed on the segregation it built between workforce and management and how it
established a dominant American industry. The study will also define the concept of Fordism and how
it influenced the motor vehicle industry, in which this production model was first implemented.
By the beginning of the 20th century technology had become advanced enough to introduce the motor
vehicle. Despite this, for many years the automobile remained an expensive luxury item created by
craftsmen. It was something only the wealthy could afford. That was until Henry Ford, a son of the
Scientific Movement of Management, developed a new line of thought. He wanted to make cars
available to the masses by changing the production process in a way that would reduce costs, so more
people could afford the product. Ford introduced a new approach to production, which included
standardization, specialization and the usage of the assembly line and the conveyor belt system
(Smith, 2011). His business model was so successful that it sparked a revolution in the entire industry.
Even today, a century later, the world is still greatly influenced by Fordism.
Authors variously interpret the term Fordism . According to Knights and Willmott (2007: 385)

As I Lay Dying Narrators
How many books have you read that have 15 narrators? Any? As I Lay Dying is a book written by
William Faulkner. The book is written in the perspective of 15 different people. The story revolves
around the Bundren family. The mother Addie dies early in the book, and she had requested to be
buried beside her parents in Jefferson. As I Lay Dying is about the journey the family takes to carry
out their mother s final wish. Throughout the book, we learn about the family through the obstacles
they must overcome. Faulkner uses 15 narrators to show different point of views, character s thoughts,
and their personalities.
By using 15 narrators, Faulkner allows the reader to see events from different points of view. This
style of writing also causes the order of events to be displaced. For example, we learned about the
Gillespie s barn fire. Then, later we find the barn was set on fire by Darl. Darl believed he had good

After Addie dies, Vardaman says, But Jewel s mother is a horse. My mother is a fish... My mother is
not in a box. My mother does not smell like that. My mother is a fish (187). This quote shows his
frame of mind. In this case, it leads the reader to believe Vardaman does not fully grasp the situation
or that his mental state is not great. Later in the story, Dewey Dell and Anse have a conversation. Anse
said, I have fed you and sheltered you. I give you love and care, yet my own daughter, the daughter of
my dead wife, calls me a thief over her mother s grave (245, 246). In this quote, Anse talks about how
much he has done for the family. Anse sees himself as the reason his kids have any good in their lives.
However, throughout the book we learn Anse is lazy and wants people to get the job done for him.

have a major impact on profitability is the increasing price of chicken. With the increasing popularity
of ethanol based fuels made primarily of corn it is becoming more costly to feed and raise chickens,

  • 2. Evaluating Health Behaviors And Health Outcomes Associated... My research project is primarily focused on examining the uses of Nightscout and evaluating changes in health behaviors and health outcomes associated with its use on patients in managing their diabetes. Nightscout is a do it yourself (DIY) mobile technology system developed by patients and caregivers to monitor blood glucose levels remotely using Cloud technology. We are interested in studying Nightscout because it is a new patient created innovation, and is the first successful DIY system to allow patients and caregivers remote access to data, such as blood glucose levels, through mobile technology. Since Nightscout is still in the earliest stages of development, we focused on studying the community of Nightscout users for issues such as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Online communities, such as CGM in the Cloud Facebook group, are a source of support for many patients and caregivers in overcoming the challenges of managing diabetes.4 The CGM in the Cloud Facebook group is a virtual community of family members and patients using Nightscout.3 The Nightscout project began in February 2013, when the parent, a software programmer, of a newly diagnosed patient started using a continuous glucose monitoring system (CGMS or CGM) to monitor his son s glucose levels.3 Since the foundation of Nightscout in 2013, the Facebook page has gained over 20,000 members. The Nightscout Project is a patient designed, technology driven collaborative health innovation, however, it s a DIY device not yet approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), as a result it faces a number of legal challenges. 3 During the developmental stage of Nightscout, there were many potential points of technical failure in the hardware and software system, including the loss of glucose data or error in medical decisions. During these times, the average, non technical patient and caregiver relied heavily on online peer support groups, such as the CGM in the Cloud Facebook group, to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Idea Of Narcissistic Love Another example that frames a negative love through a more narcissistic form of intemperance combined with a necessity (a counterpart to freedom). The contrast of a narcissistic love (an evil love that necessitates tyrannical measures) to a sacrificial love that promotes freedom reinforces the ways in which love is framed as good or evil. The description between the attributes of the gates to the gardens shows these opposing differences. The Book 2, Canto 12, Stanza 43 opens with goodly it was enclosed round about, which immediately gives the sense that this enclosure is not inclusive. The following lines, as well their entered guests to keep within / as those unruly beasts to hold without are juxtaposed to one another and opposed in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, the mirror stanza in Adonis garden allows freedom by which both in and out men moten pas, portraying a good love as giving, taking/receiving and letting go (III.2.31). This is in opposition to Acrasia s exclusive love, whereas a good love demonstrates inclusivity. Looking at this from an overarching view, Acrasia s love necessitates a rationale to subjugate its guests as opposed to Adonis garden that represents freedom two extremes that constantly exert push and pull forces on one another. In each mirrored stanza their power relations further demonstrates the way frame in which Spenser defines a negative positive love. Accordingly, in Acrasia s garden the line, wisdoms power and temperance s might displays a fear of temperance and wisdom as well as an inability to defend against a justified good love and eke the gate was wrought of substance light / rather for pleasure, then for battery or fight; Spenser frames a bad love as a thin, weak fence that fears a good love s dominant power. In contrast, good love conjures a picture equivalent to the gates of heaven the one of iron, the other of bright gold, and further reinforced by its impenetrability, that none might thorough break, nor over stride ... • 4. Stanley s Milgram Experiments In the Stanley Milgram experiment different people were chosen to do an experiment where they had a man under cover and asked him questions. If he got the answer wrong he was shocked. Each time he answered incorrectly the voltage was increased. The voltage started from forty five and increased all the way up to four hundred and fifty. The actor was placed in a room where the test subjects could not see them. The point of this experiment is to see if the subjects are willing to continue the experiment even though they observed that the actor is in pain, just because a man in a white jacket tells them to. Some of the people have the will to refuse to continue the experiment, but others continue it up until the last voltage power possible. This experiment ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Thank God the ambulance came because the man would have just been laying there forever. In the video the bystander they dress up a man and a woman and have they stand on the side of a busy sidewalk. The point of the experiment is to see if people will stop and help you when you are in trouble. They took the same man and dressed him in different attire. The first time the man was dressed like a hobo. He laid on the end of the steps and act like a drunk who was depressed. No one stopped to ask was he ok and if he needed help. The second time he was dressed in a suit. It was almost instant he received help. Then it was a woman and no one really helped her. The man did one last experiment where he act like he was in pain and he was dressed normal. Not one person stopped and helped him. This experiment just shows what social class you have to be in order to be treated a certain way. They were quick to help the man when he was in a suit. On the other hand when he was dressed like a hobo he did receive one aid only the stares of the people. I also notice it was a train reaction. Once one person took a stand and helped other people came along. People ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Essay on Canto V of Dante’s Inferno Canto V of Dante s Inferno In Dante s Inferno, part of The Divine Comedy, Canto V introduces the torments of Hell in the Second Circle. Here Minos tells the damned where they will spend eternity by wrapping his tail around himself. The Second Circle of Hell holds the lustful; those who sinned with the flesh. They are punished in the darkness by an unending tempest, which batters them with winds and rain. Hell is not only a geographical place, but also a representation of the potential for sin and evil within every individual human soul. As Dante travels through Hell, he sees sinners in increasingly more hideous and disgusting situations. For Dante, each situation is an image of the quality of any soul that is determined to sin in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Others include Cleopatra, Achilles, and Semiras, each with their own story of love and lust. Dante is at once filled with great pity for those who were torn from the mortal life by love (V. 69). With Virgil s permission, Dante asks to call to those two swept together so lightly on the wind and still to sad (V. 74). One woman answers him, recognizing him as a living soul. Dante knows her as Francesca, and she relates to him how love was her undoing. She was reading with a man, Paolo, about an Arthurian Legend of Lancelot, how love had mastered him (V. 129). The two came to a particularly romantic moment in the story, and could not resist exchanging a single kiss; that very day, they were killed because of it. Dante is so overcome with pity that he faints. Paolo and Francesca represented, or symbolize, sinful love by example. They show how an intrinsically noble emotion, love, if contrary to God s law, can bring two essentially fine persons to damnation and spiritual ruin. Dante s personal response of overwhelming pity should not blind us to the justice of the penalty. Dante describes himself as fainting at the end of Francesca s recital, his purpose is partly to portray the attractiveness of the sin. Dante allows the lovers the bitter sweetness of inseperability in Hell, but they have lost God and thus corrupted their personalities; they can hardly be considered happy. In a sense, they have what they wanted; they continue in the lawless condition that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Comparison Of Black Beauty And Ella Enchanted The books Black Beauty by Anna Sewell and Ella Enchanted by Gail Carson Levine may seem worlds apart at first glance. Black Beauty is a classic tale about a horse in the 1800 s as he is passed from owner to owner, each treating him with different levels of respect and kindness, showing whatever social class, age, or gender someone may be or belong to, kindness is a choice, and it really does affect people and animals. Ella Enchanted is a more recent story, but no less compelling. It is a creative retelling of Cinderella, with a protagonist cursed to obedience by a fairy, yet she never stops trying to break the curse. In the end she risks everything at the three balls with the prince only to have things turn out in a way she never could ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They are happy when with people who are good, like the Birtwicks, Jerry, Mandy (Ella s fairy godmother), and Char (the prince). However, it is only a problem when selfish people are giving the orders, like Hattie commanding Ella to be a slave, and the earl s wife making his head stretch back painfully with the bearing rein. While the specifics of the conflicts are different, their general idea is the same. The characters are different, both at their surfaces and cores, but they are also similar on the inside as well. Ella is a female human, while Black Beauty is a male horse. However, Ella goes out and actively tries to break the curse (like running away to find Lucinda), while Black Beauty only does his best to follow commands, even if a stone is breaking apart his foot. They both refuse to give up, carrying on in their own ways. They make the best of what they have, and find their own joys, among their hardships, like Ella learning another language with her friend Areidia, and Black Beauty playing in the fields although he was working hard as Jerry s cab horse. Both characters are in similar situations, and while they respond differently, they both persevere. Both themes are about kindness and freedom, but they explore them differently. In Black Beauty, the theme addresses the person with the power, to be kind to the people under your jurisdiction. It ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

With this Morrie was able to accept everything that happened to him by detaching himself from what was happening. He learned this from the Buddhist, they said nothing is permanent. You can experience things such as happiness, anger, or depression, but don t let these emotions penetrate you, you let them penetrate you fully. Detachment is the reason he doesn t fear death anymore and gladly accepts it. • 10. The Magnicent Earth s Surface One other aspect of the magnificent earth is the surface itself. The layers of the Earth are very different in their composition. The crust, mantle, and core of the earth are all very fascinating. Also, a theory called plate tectonics attempts to explain many phenomena that occur on the surface of the earth, such as earthquakes. Some properties of the earth s surface are its layers, the plate tectonics theory, and earthquakes. The layers of the earth are very complex. These layers are the crust, mantle, and core (Wile 132). The core is divided into two regions: the inner core and the outer core (Wile 131). Earth s crust is defined as Earth s outermost layer of rock (Wile 132). The thickness of the crust averages 55 to 12 miles (Wile 132). In addition to rock, the crust of the earth contains soil and sediment (Wile 132). Sediment is defined as small, solid fragments of rock and other materials that are carried and deposited by wind, water, or ice (Wile 132). Sedimentary rock is also found on the earth s crust. Sedimentary rock is rock formed when chemical reactions cement sediments together, hardening them (Wile 133). Igneous rock, rock that forms from molten rock , is also found in the crust (Wile 133). Melted rock that cools and re solidifies becomes igneous rock (Wile 133). The last kind of rock in the crust is called meromorphic rock (Wile 133). Traveling the world in addition to experiencing different cultures is the ideal life to live in the eyes of the youth. Simple yet paralyzing situations such as money problems can result in people staying where they are. Luckily there are jobs where we can make a living off of our dreams. Being an au pair, traveling nurse, or graphic designers balances the situation of money and a way of travel. These jobs are also very diverse in terms of the working field. With advantages comes disadvantages each different for every job. Au pairs are not common in the United States but it is one of the best ways to travel, learn a new language, and get money all at the same time. To apply for this job the applicant must be single, between the ages of 18 and 30, no children, good English skills, graduate of secondary school, and no criminal record (Au Pair World 1). Being an au pair is similar to being a nanny but the age requirements are different. Au pairs are usually admitted into a host family in France. The host family will provide shelter, food, and all the basic needs for survival and in return he or she will babysit the host parents children. During the weekends the au pair is allowed to roam around the city and explore their culture. Another benefit to being an au pair through a program connected with au pair services, workers have the opportunity to learn another language during their twelve month stay (Au Pair World 3). But on the contrary, there has been reports of au pairs abused during their stay making this job a blessing but a possible curse. According to King H, in 2010 there were 12,180 newly diagnosed cases of the disease in the UK and 4,436 people also died from the disease. Pathophysiology Copstead and Banasik (2012) describe the pathophysiology of Non Hodgkin s Lymphoma as being similar to that of other malignant cancers. Social Cohesion And Its Effects On Society Individuals create friendships, bonds, and relationships in society to strengthen not only that individual s social cohesion, but the social cohesion of the collective community. Social cohesion is used to maintain the structure and integrity of a society. There are many aspects of society which draw individuals and groups, either closer, or further away from other individuals or groups. However, many times social cohesion depends heavily on the act of inclusion and exclusion of certain individuals from a given society or community. Exclusion or inclusion depends greatly on financial status and resources an individual has. In recent years researchers have seen variant decreases in social cohesion, and have seen governments take action in order to prevent the downfall. In general, social cohesion is created through means of communication amongst a society, along with the relationships, connections, and bonds formed within the society (Berger Schmitt, 2002, p. 405). However, it goes much deeper than just purely relations formed within communities, social cohesion in itself has a lot to do with economic status and the ability to obtain and access resources required to be able to partake in society and maintain subjective well being (Klein, 2011, p. 900). Examples of resources that may strengthen social cohesion are; access to improved healthcare or education, access to community centres, parks, public events, and employment. Toward a New Trilateral Strategic Security Relationship: United States, Canada, and Mexico The article Toward a New Trilateral Strategic Security Relationship written by Richard J. Kilroy, Jr., Abelardo Rodríguez Sumano and Todd S. Hataley, published in the Journal of Strategic Security; introduces the idea(s) of a trilateral strategic security relationship between the United States, Canada, and Mexico. The term trilateral means to involve or share three parties, therefore this is a perfect term to use when it comes to creating a strategic security plan between the three countries discussed in this paper. The Trilateral Commission has three separate regions: European, North American, and Asia Pacific; it created in the early 1970 s, as a way to increase global interdependence. Trilateral summits have taken place globally between said countries in regards to the security issues each country is perceptible to as far as acts of terror, natural disasters and/or epidemic issues. Trilateral commissions are non governmental, policy oriented groups that focus on discussion. The sole purpose of a trilateral commission is to encourage an understanding and mutual aid among the three regions that make up said commission on shared global issues. A Brief Note On Mediates Contact Dependent Homophilic Dscam: Mediates contact dependent homophilic repulsion Dscam diversity underlies a robust cellular recognition mechanism allowing dendrites to distinguish between surfaces of different cells. Main arguments is that Dscam mediated self avoidance is a general organizing mechanism operating throughout Drosophila nervous system. da neurons associate closely with the epidermis as they extend across the body wall; thus, their dendrites create a two dimensional meshwork in which developing branches frequently encounter other dendrites (different from CNS where axons and dendrites form 3D by interaction) when deficient in Dscam function, individual dendrites do not recognize sister branches and fail to initiate repulsion, leading to a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Dscam is required for proper segregation of sister axon branches (Wang et al., 2002), and analogous to the self avoidance control in da neurons, specific isoforms do not appear to provide instructive cues for this segregation event. It has been argued that this reflects a role for Dscam in mediating self recognition and repulsion between these axons In da neurons, dendrite selfavoidance defects were separable from growth, branching, and targeting errors and were fully penetrant. Thus, our data directly implicate Dscam in self avoidance and demonstrate this role at the level of interactions between individual branches. Mechanism: identical Dscam ectodomains on the surfaces of isoneuronal dendrites recognize each other and induce a subsequent repulsive signal that is mediated by domains in the cytoplasmic tail. How: o First, identical Dscam isoforms expressed in two cell populations in vitro induced their aggregation in an isoform specific manner, showing that Dscam provides cells with the ability to distinguish between different cell surfaces. o Second, ectopic (in an abnormal place or position) expression of identical Dscam isoforms on the dendrites of different cells, which normally overlap, promoted growth away from each other. From in vitro adhesion to in vivo repulsion Our data suggest that the dendrites of da neurons convert an initial Dscam dependent cell surface interaction into a repulsive response, which leads to dendrite separation and receptive ... Inner Conflict In Hamlet Through the multitude of analyses of Hamlet that have occurred since Shakespeare debuted the play in 1783, multiple stances can be made from the plot and dialogue within. For instance, in Act Three Scene Three a religious reading can be made. The scene depicts two major inner conflicts that occur in both Claudius and Hamlet through the use of dueling soliloquies. To start, Claudius is battling with his inner guilt and attempting to ask for forgiveness for his sins, but he refuses to give up the prizes he obtained by sinning. This conflict is seen when Claudius says, ...since I am still possessed/ of those effects for which I did the murder: My crown, mine own ambition, and my queen. May one be pardoned and retain th offense (Act e. Scene 3. Lines 57 60). He was given the crown and Gertrude by killing King Hamlet, which causes him to battle with staying on the strict moral code that his religion set for him, since he has found being king to be wonderful. He enjoys having power, and he does not want to lose that power no matter what the Bible has laid out for him and how he s supposed to act. However, despite his clear yearn for power, he is seen asking for forgiveness. This can most easily be noted in line 40 when he says, O, my offense is rank, it smells to Heaven and line 56 of the scene when Claudius says, Forgive me my foul murder , since it proves that Claudius is aware that he sinned and must now ask for forgiveness. Movie Critique on the Industrial Organizational Psychology present in Antz Introduction The 1998 film Antz is an excellent depiction of the industrial and organizational work force. Being that the film is a Dream Works animation, it has a simple and attention grabbing plot that is given to the viewer through the perspective of a hero, and in this context an colony ant worker named Z (Darnell et al., 1998). This peculiar, open minded ant portrayed several topics related to industrial organizational psychology such as leadership, occupational stress, and job satisfaction. In addition to the prevalent presence of industrial psychology that can be seen in the main character, other characters and details of the plot are representative of industrial psychology as well. Elements such as organizational commitment and employee selection are intriguingly exemplified through this moralistic story of ants (Darnell et al., 1998). In the film Antz, the once miserable and dissatisfied protagonist finds bliss and hope in the colony princess, Princess Bala at a worker s bar. Z leaves the work colony for a day to pursue his newfound love interest by pretending to be a soldier for a day. Error coding is utilized as a part of numerous advanced provisions like workstation memory, attractive and optical information stockpiling media. The investigation of mistake rectifying codes and the cohorted arithmetic is known as coding hypothesis. Hamming code is a set of error correction codes that might be utilized to recognize and right bit errors that can happen when machine information is moved or put away. There is lot of examples of coding theory; one of the biggest examples of its use is in communication field, i e modulation, encryption and decryption of signal. Positive so that they can have something to conform to. A truly Canadian ceremony that they feel their ancestors may have lacked. Piracy had become their way of life. Had other nations reached out to Somalia, things would have been different. However, the world is harsh and cruel, and many would rather look after themselves than a stranger. Instead, nations began to trash the land of Somalia. • 33. Pros And Cons Of Fordism Fordism a good idea or a bad one? The purpose of this paper is to state that Fordism was not a stable production system, even though it achieved great success when it was first applied by Henry Ford. The Fordism production method will be critically assessed on the segregation it built between workforce and management and how it established a dominant American industry. The study will also define the concept of Fordism and how it influenced the motor vehicle industry, in which this production model was first implemented. By the beginning of the 20th century technology had become advanced enough to introduce the motor vehicle. Despite this, for many years the automobile remained an expensive luxury item created by craftsmen. It was something only the wealthy could afford. That was until Henry Ford, a son of the Scientific Movement of Management, developed a new line of thought. He wanted to make cars available to the masses by changing the production process in a way that would reduce costs, so more people could afford the product. Ford introduced a new approach to production, which included standardization, specialization and the usage of the assembly line and the conveyor belt system (Smith, 2011). His business model was so successful that it sparked a revolution in the entire industry. Even today, a century later, the world is still greatly influenced by Fordism. Authors variously interpret the term Fordism . According to Knights and Willmott (2007: 385) Fordism ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
