Descriptive Essay Assignment
Writing an essay on the topic of "Descriptive Essay Assignment" can be a challenging task that
requires careful consideration and attention to detail. The difficulty arises from the need to
vividly describe a particular subject or experience, using words that evoke sensory experiences
for the reader. Crafting a descriptive essay requires a balance between providing enough detail to
create a clear image and avoiding unnecessary information that may detract from the main theme.
One of the challenges lies in selecting a suitable topic that offers ample opportunities for
description. Once a topic is chosen, the writer must brainstorm and organize their thoughts to
create a coherent and engaging narrative. The process involves using descriptive language to
appeal to the reader's senses, making them feel as if they are experiencing the subject firsthand.
Additionally, maintaining a logical structure is crucial to ensure the essay flows smoothly.
Striking the right balance between description and analysis can be tricky, as too much detail
without a clear purpose can lead to a disorganized and overwhelming essay. Conversely,
insufficient description may result in a lackluster piece that fails to captivate the reader.
Furthermore, the challenge extends to revising and editing the essay to eliminate redundancies,
refine language, and enhance the overall quality of the writing. Achieving a polished and
compelling descriptive essay requires multiple rounds of review and refinement.
In conclusion, writing a descriptive essay on the topic of "Descriptive Essay Assignment"
demands creativity, attention to detail, and effective organization. It is a process that involves
selecting a suitable subject, employing vivid language, and ensuring a well-structured narrative.
While challenging, mastering the art of descriptive writing can be a rewarding experience for
those who are willing to invest time and effort in honing their skills.

Domestic Violence In The Football Industry
According to ESPN, 49% of Americans claim to be fans of professional football
based on an Associated Press poll, a decrease from the 56% who claimed to be fans
in the previous year. The NFL is deemed as the most popular sports league in the
United States drawing in the highest TV ratings by far. While conducting research,
we are looking at the increase of viewership during National Football Leagueseason
while players face scandals in their personal lives. There has been a growing trend
within the NFL of scandals surrounding domestic abuse, drug related problems, and
drunk driving incidents. In today s society people are drawn to news surrounding
celebrities and professional athletes so these scandals have created ample hype. We

First, looking at the NFL s recent scandal cases will be imperative. Given that there
is an increasing number of a sports scandal pertaining specifically to NFL players,
case studies will be of the utmost importance to our research. There have been
several cases since 2007 that have shown a higher rate of arrests specifically
dealing with domestic violence (Pennington and Eder). An example of a case we
could examine would be the recent Ray Rice case. Other domestic violence
accounts that we would include involve players such as: Ray McDonald (San
Francisco), Greg Hardy (Carolina), A. J. Jefferson (Minnesota), Robert Reynolds
(Tennessee) and Dez Bryant (Dallas). On top of looking at those specific cases, we
will need to look at Nielsen ratings and arrests in the NFL for those specific years
or even months that those cases occurred. Although not all cases are as
consequently severe as Rice s, it is important to analyze the previous cases to see if
they have had any effect on viewership over the
Herbert Landry s Incident Case Study
In 2006, firefighters were called to extinguish a fire in an apartment complex. Two
residents said they saw Herbert Landry leaving the complex shortly after the fire
started and he quickly became the main internet of the police. He has moved around
a lot due to Hurricane Katrina and was going to move out of his apartmentto be with
his family in Texas. He had his final walk through in the apartment, then moved into
a hotel for the rest of the night. The fire broke out and two neighbors accused
Landry of being evicted. Landry saw the fire on the television and decided to go to
the apartment building to talk to the poke. He was sent to the police station for
investigation. Some samples were taken (the floorboards from the apartment and

Cultural Changes In The Victorian Era In The Victorian
Period
The Victorian helped the society become a calm society. The Victorian Period was
a period that started in the year 1831 and lasted until 1900. In fact, this was the
same time that Queen Victoria sat on the throne and that s why the period has that
name. All of the traditions that England had before this period were changed in the
middle and late of the Victorian period. The main issue of all of the cultural
changes that the period gave to England got all of the society scared because of the
quickness that these changes happen. These changes created a wealth in some
families of England and rose the middle class in the social classes. In addition, the
science improved and didn t care about Church s daily life. Actually, for some people

Arthur Miller s Death Of A Salesman
Tragedy Characteristics
Student s Name
Institution
Introduction
The three characteristics of tragedy are; a tragic flaw, tragic dilemma, and reversal.
The play Arthur Miller, Death of a Salesman, is about an old salesperson who returns
early from a business trip. After crashing multiple times, he realizes he should stop
driving. The other book, Oedipus the King narrates the story of Oedipus. He was a
man who became the king of Thebes, while unwittingly fulfilling a prophecy that he
would murder his father, Laius, and marry his mother, Jocasta. The above
characteristics of tragedy are well highlighted.
In the play Death of a Salesman, one flow hat contributes to Willy becoming a
tragic character is that he found physical things to be more appealing than the
basic things he needed for survival. An example of this is when Willy lies to his
family and friends saying he was well liked as a salesperson, and he was happy and
proud of his job, but in reality, it is entirely the opposite. Another example is the
Willy s definition of success as living in the American dream. On the other hand, the
book Oedipus the King occasions of tragic flow is evident. The first instance is when
he first encounters Teiresias, a seer who declines to divulge the truth he admits to
knowing. We see Teiresias begging Oedipus to let her go home. However, Oedipus
doesn t want anything withheld from him, and he gradually becomes more agitated
with this wheedling. Furthermore, Teiresias
Explain Why the Arab Invasions of 710 and 711 Were so...
Explain why the Arab invasions of 710 and 711 were so successful. In answering
this question we must first appreciate the difficulty historians face in discovering the
real truth of the early Arab invasions, a fact well demonstrated in the varying
estimates of Arab invasion forces (ranging from 1,700 9000 in current publications).
Scant contemporary evidence exists beyond a short narrative present in a Spanish
chronicle of 754, a vital surviving Islamic administrative document of the time, and
some archaeological remains. Our knowledge of the invasions is largely founded on
the works of later Islamic historians, the Ajbar Machmua text for example and the
works of Ibn Idhari and al Maqqari. Unfortunately there are fewer Christian... Show

The existence of a rival claimant caused dangerous divisions throughout the
kingdom and in Akhila s demesne land of Tarragona and Narbonne coins were
minted without the king s image, a clear measure of defiance. It is also reported in
some sources that during the invasion Akhila conspired with the Arabs to depose
Roderic. Some go as far as to say that during the final battle a wing of Roderic s
army loyal to Akhila turned on him in the midst of the fighting. Whether this is
true can hardly be proven but something catastrophic must have happened for the
King s army supposedly far larger than Tarik s (Estimates 24,000 30,000 ) to suffer
such a devastating defeat. Many historians support the idea that elements within
the Visigothic nobility gave assistance to the invaders probably as a means of
removing Roderic. It is unlikely however that they foresaw the long term
implications of the invasion and the extension of Muslim presence in Iberia. It is
argued that as well as the problems the succession dispute posed, the very fabric of
Visigothic society itself was weak. It is suggested that the Visgothic nobility of the
time, who had placed themselves above the native Hispano Roman population in
terms of rights and privileges, were suffering a backlash from the lower sections of
society. Incidents of rebellion had increased as had the number of slaves deserting
their Lords. Many runaways turned to outlawry and as a consequence
Advantages And Disadvantages Of Dc Drive System
3.1 Variable Speed Drive System This chapter deals with the classification and basic
operation of electric variable speed drive system and scope, merits and demerits of
DC and AC drives. Then AC induction motor drive is selected for complete

Three phase induction motor of wound rotor type is commonly used in adjustable
speed drives. According to the type of winding on rotor, there are two common types
of induction machines namely, squirrel cage induction motor and wound rotor
induction motor. Squirrel cage induction motors are mostly used in industrial drives
which have cylindrical rotor with short circuited rotor windings with the voltage
supplied to stator windings. The rotor does not have a brushes and commutator but
consists of conducting bars that are placed into the rotor slots. These bars are short
circuited by the shorting rings. Whereas wound rotor induction motors have wye
connected rotor windings. In addition to the voltage that is applied to the stator
windings, the phase voltages can be supplied to the rotor winding using brushes and
slip rings. However, wound rotor induction motors have not been widely used
because their efficiency and maximum angular velocity are lower compared to
squirrel cage. On the other hand, squirrel cage motors have been tremendously used
in high performance electric drives and electromechanical systems. Therefore, in this
thesis, only three phase squirrel cage induction motor drive is taken and performance
analysis has been done using
Ancient Mesopotamia Geography
The geographical location was an important factor in many of the ancient
civilizations. Where the people settled determined whether they would have success
at surviving. Both Mesopotamia and Egypt were ancient civilizations founded in
roughly the same longitude and latitude area of the world. Hot dry areas full of
dessert. What drew early civilizations to settle on these locations was the same for
both places, land near water that was good for planting. What is different about each
location is what makes these two early civilizations vastly different yet extremely
important to our world today, the natural resources and the way the early settlers
utilized them. Both Mesopotamiaand Egypt were founded near large rivers. To be a

Egypt also had Oasis s, where natural water can be found in the middle of the
desert. Some settlers settled around the Oasis because of the fresh supply of water.
The nomadic travelers moved their herds of animals through the desert did so
from Oasis to Oasis. Another key geographical feature of Egypt is the Sinai
Peninsula which is in the northernmost portion of Egypt that it connects that main
area to the Red Sea. The ancient Egyptians referred to the fertile area along the
Nile river bank as the black land and the desert as the red land. Egypt has flooding
from the Nile that brings the silt which is black to the riverbanks making the land
extremely fertile and very easy to plant in. This afforded Egyptians the opportunity
to plant many farms with crops as well as provide the necessary nutrients to have
farms with animals. What is a major difference between the Egyptian and
Mesopotamia civilizations is the difference in the natural resources. Mesopotamia
had a limited resources, Egypt had best amounts of resources, such as minerals,
limestone, gold and other very valuable precious metals and stones. These resources
the provided the Egyptian people with many things to trade and it helped set the
course for the type of life that the Egyptian lived. Mesopotamia peoples had to make
do with what the land provided. These abundant Egyptian
Katrina Cycle Of Poverty
Paycheck to Paycheck details the daily life of Katrina who lives, like many more

husband s addiction problem and after their separation things are not looking up.
She even states that all of the income went to his addiction, prior. Single
motherhood is anything but easy for Katrina and this is proven by the menagerie of
burdens she must bear on the daily in order to make a good life for her kids while

Katrina receives help from the daycare her children go to, which she is ultimately
lucky she even has a spot in. That particular daycare has a waiting list of well over

HBO came to them with the idea. Can you believe it? Simultaneously, Kudrow is
hosting the improvisational network broadcast, Web Therapy with Jon Hamm,

Kudrow s Web Therapy a time or two.
Kudrow also attended Milk Studios 2015 Vulture Festival in New York this spring.
Billy Eichner and Julie Klausner of Difficult People were there to mingle with the
star. No matter where she goes, it would seem that someone is asking the proverbial
question: Will there ever be a reunion for the cast and crew of Friends? Kudrow

different states so, getting together can be impossible, to say the least. However, they
do try to stay in touch.

What Is The Memory Consumption, Look On Convolution
Layers...
To analyze the memory consumption, look on convolution layers activity. A
cache simulator used in virtual computational structure to measure the memory
bandwidth without any assumption that it is capable of processing Tn neurons with
Ti synapses each every cycle. The cache hierarchy is inspired by Intel Core i7: L1 is
32KB, 64 byte line, 8 way; the optional L2 is 2MB, 64 byte, 8 way. Here the caches
have enough banks/ports to serve Tn _ 4 bytes for input neurons, and Tn_Ti_4 bytes
for synapses. For large Tn; Ti, the cost of such caches can be exorbitant, here it can
be used Tn = Ti = 16. The pseudo code of classifiers layers is given below [16]. for

As expected, tiling drastically reduces the memory bandwidth requirements of
input neurons, and those of output neurons increase, but slightly. The memory
behavior of layers is now dominated by synapses. In any perceptron layer, all
synapses are usually exclusive, and so there is no chance to reuse the information
within the layer. The synapses can be reused across the network invocations that
means, for each new input data existed to the neural network. So a suitably large
L2 can be stored all network synapses and take advantage of that locality. In case of
DNNs with private kernels, this is not possible as the total number of synapses are
in the tens or hundreds of millions (the largest network to date has a billion
synapses [18]). Though, for both CNNs and DNNs where kernel is shared, the
total number of synapses ranges in the millions, which is within the reach of an L2
cache. Develop the case where reuse across network invocations is possible by
considering only the perceptron layer; so, the total bandwidth requirements are now
drastically reduced. Convolutional Layers : assume the 2 D convolution layers
refer figure 3 and pseudo code of convulotion layers. The input and output feature
maps (loops i and n) and kernel (loops i and n) are represented by two different
convolutional neural layer with respect to classifier layers. There are two types of
reuse opportunity for input and out layers in Convolution layers. The
Effects Of Climate Change On Species
Effect of Climate Change on SpeciesOver the years, the populations of many species
have been affected due to human activities such as hunting and releasing fossil fuels,
which seems to be the major culprit in causing climate change. Releasing these gases
into the air is affecting the species because more carbon dioxide being released into
the air, which causes heat to be trapped into the atmosphere. This action has caused
some species to have problems to survive in the environment and decrease the
population, eventually causing extinction. In some cases, species have found a way
to adapt to the environment through genetic changes caused be evolution. The
mechanisms of phenotypic resilience and evolutionary adaptation allows species to
obtain the potential to adapt to warmer environments. Phenotypic resilience is where
the species possess the ability to portray different phenotypes in a changing
environment. In animals, the traits that respond to selection are migratory patterns,
key morphological traits, life history traits, body size, and host preferences (Vellend
et al., 2007). Overall, the question of whether the species adapt or become extinct due
to climatechanges varies. There is not a straightforward explanation because some
populations might decreases and some populations might dramatically increase. The
ecosystem and environment is too large and broad to have a specific answer. The risk
of extinction from climate changevaries across a variety of
Political Parties And Its Influence On The Political Party
Since the founding of our country and the government we live by, political parties
have been present. These parties have had many influences on our government from
their formation. Some of these influences that the parties have had were good, other
were bad. Within our modern government, parties, have become a major impact and
have had much influence. These parties are present to push their agendas and
accomplish what they can through their influence on the government. The affect that
these parties have had on our government can be seen through their influence on the
three branches of government; the Executivebranch, the Legislative branch, and the
Judicial Branch. Political parties have a massive influence on the Executive branch,
or the president. The two party political system is the fore ground of our modern
presidential elections. This system determines the two major candidates that the
country ultimately chooses from for the presidency, either Republican or Democrat.
As the American Government textbook states the political parties kept a tight control
on the selection of a candidate (Krutz 454). This excerpt from the American
Government textbook shows that the influence the party system has on the Executive
branch is so great that it goes as far as to choose the candidates that the country gets
to vote for. The party chooses the candidates for the presidential electionby holding
primary elections where multiple people are put out for the states to vote, the

the three weird sisters are the driving force of the supernaturaland evil throughout the
play, there are other elements present that work both with them and around them.
Clifford Davidson writes extensively on this topic, but what he discusses most is the
idea of the evil force that exists throughout the entirety of the play. This force makes
itself apparent in the weird sisters themselves as character, but also in the large and
almost demonic influence that they have on Macbeth as he murders and plots his
way to the throne. It s apparent that there is something bigger at work within the text
other than the sisters, and that is this overlying force of evil that runs its course on
Macbeth, eventually leading to his death.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

of prices, money, and interest rates alongside the value of stock prices and
international trade. As a result, we will be able to grasp the concept of how the
Consumer Price Index (CPI), how to use an estimate the inflation from the CPI,
Producer Price Index (PPI), prime rate and how to measure the Dow Jones Industrial

Application
Consumer Price Index. A measure used for estimation of price changes in the market
basket of goods and services representative of consumption expenditure, CPI is not
part of the cost of living index, however, it is based on prices of food, clothing,

Class Differences In Sociological Analysis
Social structures are limitations that affect the lives of individuals and groups in the
society. Social structures such as class, gender and ethnicity are the limitations that
society has to cope with in one way or another (Lawson et al, 2002). Class (upper
class, middle class, and poor) is a the most favoured limitation that influence the lives
of individuals and groups. Social classis the key source of economic and material
inequality and is found in all societies (Marron et al, 2011).
Karl Marx and Max Weberare two classical sociologists that explain the term social
structures in global perspective. Karl Marx argued that there were two classes: the
ruling class (bourgeoisie) and the working class (proletariat) (Chris Yuill et al,...

People that lives in a deprived area are more likely to smell poverty (Macdonald et al,

Dorset was 86.6 years and 78.5 years for the women born in a relatively poor region

Free Association And Dream Analysis
Free Association is a central technique in psychoanalytic therapy. Free association is
where clients can vent and speak their mind to find closure. Free association can be
used with current clients because it gives the client the chance to open up about
other significant activities that can help resolve or lead to a solution for their
situation. For example, clients speak of wishes and fantasies of how they imagine
their life.
Dream Analysis also known as Dream Work. According to Corey, Dream analysis has
two levels of content: latent content and manifest content. Latent content is hiding
reality and the pain that can and will occur. Manifest Content is escaping the pain in
a dream (p. 80); believing that the client is a fantasy world and

contemplate who the country wants and needs to take power. All influential political
groups within Russiamust be examined by the voter and the group that most

One area that the Mensheviks have been very successful is through the drafting
and passing of legislation within the Soviet. The Mensheviks are responsible for
the only bill that creates taxes to generate revenue and to hold the bourgeoisie in
check from taking control. Being the only group to implement taxes, the
Mensheviks showed that they are the most responsible group within the Soviet,
since instead of only worrying about spending, they also worried about how they
would pay for what they passed. Another impressive piece of legislation was the
bill in support of workers rights and in support of improving their working
conditions. By drafting and passing legislation in support of the workers, the
Mensheviks showed that they are in support of the lowest class of people within
Russia. One final bill supported fully by the Mensheviks created the United Soviet
Defense Force. By creating the United Soviet Defense Force, the Mensheviks have
set the Petrograd Soviet in place to be able to collect taxes and protect the interests of
the people. Now, the narod will receive the benefits of the spending bills passed by
the Soviet and they will have a defense force that works for the assembly put in
place to represent the common people. Compromise is also a huge pillar in the mind
of all Mensheviks and in the legislation, that is supported by all Mensheviks.
Examples Of Teenage Rebellion In Catcher In The Rye
Holden Caulfield: Teenage Rebellion Phony is defined as a fake or an ingenuine
person, this word was used most often by no other than Holden Caulfield, the most
recognizable teenager in American literature. To truly understand who Holden
Caulfield is, we must take a trip back in time to the 50s. The 1950swas a decade of
prosperity and conformity, life in the 50s was simply peaceful. However, in the
summer of 1951, J.D Salinger published a book entitled The Catcher in the Rye , the
main protagonist of the novel, Holden Caulfield, described the 1950s as a disgusting
and phony era. Holden himself is depicted as a teenager disillusioned by the adult
world. Holden finds the hypocrisy of the adult world to be almost intolerable, with
this mindset, he alienates himself from the society and he soon realized that he
wants to become a catcher in the rye , which is to be a guardian of children,
protecting them from the ugliness of adulthood and the process of maturity. The
fuel that drove Holden to become who he is today was that of his childhood sibling
loss, after the tragedy, Holden became desperate and infuriated. Almost 70 years
later, Holden Caulfield still resonates in American culture, this leaves reviews
questioning, why was the novel so meaningful and popular? Salinger s universal
idea of alienation and phoniness gave rise to the novel, never has anyone seen
such a controversial book, but no one realized that Salinger s message is pointed
toward the faults of the American society. Throughout the novel, Salinger
provided numerous clues indicating his message to the readers about his belief
about the American society. One clue is when Holden mentions the phoniness in

Lululemon Case Analysis
Unfortunately Lululemon s pants crisis doesn t end there. The founder, Chip Wilson,
18 months later, shared his thoughts on the pants debacle and undid all the damage
control Lululemon immediately following the recall. Chip Wilson s interview on
Bloomberg News basically negated everything Lululemon did in the first stage of
their crisis management. Allowing Chip to speak on behalf of the entire company
was a poor choice, as he was the wrong spokesperson and clearly unprepared. He
injected his own opinions about the original crisis and did not align with what
Lululemon had so carefully crafted. Wilson did not have the proper crisis
management or communications training to handle the situation and only continued
to make it worse. In his original
Nightjohn Character Analysis
In the novel, Nightjohn, by Gary Paulsen, the story demonstrates many major life
lessons. Nightjohn, or also known as John throughout the book, was an
unconfined slave who earned his freedom after running north, but returned to teach
young children and teenagers to read and write in pit schools. After teaching Sarny
to read, she writes the word Bag, all over the place and gets caught by Clel Waller,
or Old Waller. This novel is a story of Standing up for yourself or someone else in
times of great trouble. To begin, when Sarny is all excited about making her first
word, she goes outside the quarters and then writes the word in the dirt when Old
Waller catches her. She is asked who is teaching you to write, and after declining it,
she runs to Mammy, and Waller takes Mammy. On page 72, John says, Let her be.
She ain t got nothing to do with it. It was all me. This shows that John is confident
enough to stand up and come clean for what he did. That takes confidence, because
he knows he is going to get punished.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

She writes in the dirt, which isn t good for a slave to begin with, but then she

The PEACE and Cognitive Interviewing Models vs. the
Reid...
Many of today s interrogation models being utilized in police investigations have an
impact on false confessions. The model that has been in the public eye recently is
the social psychological process model of interrogation known as the The Reid
Technique. There are two alternatives used by the police today to replace the Reid
Technique, one is the PEACE Model and the other is Cognitive Interviewing. These
methods are not interrogationtechniques like Reid but interview processes.
The Reid Technique is an interrogation process that consists of two parts, the
interview and a nine step interrogation. The interview, which is non accusatory in
nature, gives the interviewer a chance to gather information related to the case. The

This is known as a passive mood . (Jayne Buckley, 2004) Throughout this stage the
suspect is on the defensive and may withdraw and focus their thoughts on
punishments. (Buckley, 2000)
The passive mood reached in step six is where the investigator may recognize that
the suspect has given up and is ready to confess. (Associates J. E., 2014) The
suspect will appear less tense, defeated and may even begin to cry. The investigators
response to this passive mood is where stage six begins by condensing their themes
down to just one or two, and head into the next and last stage. The investigator will
remain in close proximity and start introducing the alternate questions. (Buckley,
2000)
Presenting an alternate form of questions to the suspect is the seventh step. The
investigator will ask a question with a positive and negative choice. Both choices
usually result in the suspect admitting some sort of guilt. An innocent suspect will
listen to both choices and reject both of them. The alternative should be followed up
with a statement of support in which the interrogator tells the suspect that they think
it was done for a good reason. (Buckley, 2000)
Corroboration of the admission of guilt is stage eight of this technique. This is
obtained by collecting details of the offense from the suspect by using open ended
questions. The interrogator moves from the persuasion phase of questioning to a

Questions And Questions On Meetings
Introduction
What are Meetings?
Meetings are where two or more people gather to discuss one or more topics, often in
a formal setting.
Purposes of Meetings
There can really be diverse purposes for meetings. Some of which can be for:
Commemorating a milestone or accomplishment Engaging in meaningful dialogues
in order to reach decisions To learn new things or acquire new skills To generate
new ideas and develop new ways of thinking To hear reports from certain individuals
To consult and get feedback on issues To plan strategies needed to achieve objectives
To gain co operation and support for the plans
Types of Meetings
There are different types of meetings. Most meetings fall into one of four category
types, namely:
1.Report and information oriented meetings
2.Decision making and problem solving meetings
3.Creative and brain storming meetings
4.Training and skill building meetings
Meetings may also be: Ad Hoc Meetings These are meetings which take place at
short notices to deal with a problem that has arisen. Formal Meetings These are
meetings which have set procedures. They are planned and run in an agreed way.
Examples of such would be school staff meetings, an AGM of a club or monthly
growth meetings of a business. Virtual Meetings This is where a number of
participants may not be physically present for the meeting; however they are still able
to participate in it via use of a video connection, commonly known as video
conferencing. AGM
Flight Simulators
Synopsis, Ch. 10 Chapter 10 covered the importance of flight training itself and
flight simulators. Both are very important and very helpful to pilots. As a pilot you
must be able to practice the maneuvers and Emergency procedures that could one
day save your life. Throughout history flight simulation has changed dramatically.
From the days of pilots sitting in a basket learning the monoplane to now where
you can barely tell you aren t even in a simulator. I have not personally flown in
simulators but from my understanding they are crucial in learning proper scanning
techniques and maneuvers that you may not want to perform in a live aircraft until
necessary. I have heard it said many times that perfect practice makes perfect . I
find this to be very true. In my training I find that if I often slow down and do the
maneuver the correct way than I become a much better pilot. This I believe is what
the chapter is trying to say. (Salas Maurino, 2010)... Show more content on

Hockey Is A Unifying Force
Hockey is closer to a religion than a simple sporting pastime in Canada. It is a
unifying force in a nation where one state wanted to separate from the rest of
Canada. Hockey has a major impact on the social, economic, cultural and political
realms of Canada. In the 2014 olympics, alcohol laws in bars were lifted when
Canada was in the finals for the gold medal. People were drinking in 5 o clock in
the morning which would be frowned upon in many social circles in any other

Prejudice In Miriam Carver s The Narrator In Cathedral
Prejudice comes in all forms; whether it is due to someone s skin color, religion, or
disability, fear of someone who is different than what you view as normal is apparent
all around us. Miriam Webster defines Prejudice as injury or damage resulting from
some judgment or action of another in disregard to one s rights . Although most
people tend to associate prejudicewith racism, that is not always the case. In quite a
few instances of everyday life, it is hate towards another person you consider to be
inferior and not normal. Prejudice implies a closed point of view, one that is not
open to differences and a prejudgement of a group of people you have never
interacted with. It is through the Narrators eyes we see his skeptical tone expressed in
his prejudice and occasional jealousy, that we start to understand the Narrator. The
Narrator in Cathedral depicts this hybrid definition of prejudice in his very character
and it s this prejudice that sets the theme of the story, as well as setting up the ending
in an ironic setting.
From the opening line of Carver s short story, the Narrator gives off the impression
to the reader that he does not have any connection to his self perceived antagonist,
Robert, and has a very little opinion of him because of his physical disability.. It isn
t until Robert comes to his home, his wife guiding him into the house, that we see
the narrator take pause. He also had this full beard. But he didn t use a cane and he

R22 Feon Research Paper
R22 Freon Phase Out
Most people depend on their air conditioners. It is the only way to stay cool when
you are inside of your home or office and the temperatures are soaring into the 90s
and beyond as it often does in Fort Meyers and other areas of south Florida. The
thing is, most older air conditioning units are not able to keep up with the heat as
well as most people want for them to. Also, many people are now having to deal
with the R22 Freon phase out that is taking place and it is causing a lot of people to
suffer in misery. What is R22?
R 22 is a type of propellant or refrigerant that is a colorless gas. It is a hydro
chlorofluorocarbon that, until recently, was the primary gas used in air
conditioners both inside a vehicle and homes. It is a gas that causes very little
damage to the ozone, and was at one time considered very safe to use. However,
when you consider how many people are now using air conditioners, it is still
causing a problem according to some research. ... Show more content on

Freon is a gas that is added to the compressor of an air conditioning unit. It is then
added to a closed loop system that ensures there is a constant recycling process that it
goes through. The way it works from there is when you turn on your air conditioner
the compressor compresses the Freon. This makes it become hot and then it travels
through coils that are inside of your unit. As the Freon liquid flows through, it
evaporates and becomes cold. The now cold gas will continue through the air
conditioners coils to absorb heat and then push cooler air into the building or
Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Essay
Definition
An AAA (abdominal aortic aneurysm) is defined as enlargement of at least 3 cm of
the abdominal aorta. The majority of abdominal aortic aneurysms begins below the
renal arteries and ends above the iliac arteries. The exact cause of (AAAs) is
unknown. However, it is thought to be due to a degenerative process of the
abdominal aorta caused by atherosclerosis. Artherosclerosis represents a response to
vessel wall injury caused by inflammation, genetically regulated defects in collagen
and fibrillin, increased protease activity within the arterial wall, and mechanical
factors (Stoelting p. 143).
Pathophysiology
The abdominal aorta consists of three distinct tissue layers including: the intima,
media, and adventicia. There is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is an increase in the concentration of proteolytic enzymes compared to their
inhibitors in the abdominal aorta as age progresses. It is also thought that
metalloproteinases (MMPs) may be a factor in the development of AAAs
(Stoelting p. 143). There is an increase in expression and activity of MMPs in
people with AAAs. MMPs are present in normal aortic tissue and are responsible for
vessel remodeling. These proteinases are secreted into the extracellular matrix of
AAAs by aortic smooth muscle cells and macrophages. Increased MMP activity
favors the degradation of collagen and elastin in aneurysmal tissue (Laake).
Signs and Symptoms
Patients with ruptured AAAs present in many different ways. The most common
manifestation of rupture is back pain with a pulsatile abdominal mass and
hypotension. Additional symptoms may include syncope, flank mass, groin pain, or
paralysis (Dalman and White). Unstable patients with a suspected ruptured abdominal
aortic aneurysm need immediate operation and control of the proximal aorta without
preoperative confirmatory testing or optional volume resuscitation (Stoelting, p. 144).
Anesthesia Management
Surgical intervention is presently the only effective method of treating AAAs. The
risk of surgical repair is outweighed by the risk of aneurysm rupture or aneurysm
related death. Patients

Social Issues Related to Smoking and Alcohol

Alcohol consumption is linked to many harmful consequences for the individual
drinker, the drinker s immediate environment and society as a whole. There are many
social consequences such as traffic accidents, workplace related problems, family and
domestic problems, and interpersonal violence.
Work
People with alcohol dependence and drinking problems are on sick leave more
frequently than other employees. In Great Britain, up to 25% of workplace

Also arguments over someone s drinking can cause family and relationship problems
that may lead to break up. To address this families may consider going to councilling
to stop the alcohol abuse and also work out any issues that have been the outcome of
the constant alcohol abuse from a family member.
Link between alcohol and poverty?
Apart from money spent on drinks, heavy drinkers may suffer other economic
problems such as lower wages (because of missed work and decreased efficiency
on the job) and lost employment opportunities, increased medical and legal
expenses, and decreased eligibility for loans. To address this issue the government
should invest in centers to inform people of the horrible outcomes of alcohol abuse
and also help the people who have been affected to get back on their feet.
Alcohol abuse could be costing the UK up to ВЈ6 billion a year in NHS bills,
premature death, losses to business and drink related crimes and accidents, it was
claimed today.
A study by the Royal College of Physicians said drink related health problems could
account for up to 12% of total NHS spending on hospitals, about ВЈ3 billion.
But campaigners said that with the estimated ВЈ3 billion lost through absenteeism,
unemployment, premature deaths and alcohol related crimes and accidents the total
cost of excessive drinking is ВЈ6 billion.
Community In The Giver
In The Giver Quartet, written by Louis Lowry each book has it s own utopia or
perfect world. The Merriam Webster dictionary defines utopia as an imaginary
place in which the government, laws, and social conditions are perfect. Each of
the four books in the quartet is perfect in their eyes, but in others eyes it is flawed.
For example, in The Giver the government suppresses individuality but, in
Messenger the people of the village celebrate their differences. In The Giver Louis
Lowry created a perfect world so different from our world today. Each member of
the community has their place and they are not to stray from it. The story follows an

Describe Mammary Glands
Describe the anatomy of the mammary glands.
Assess your progress 60 ch. 28
The mammary glands are the organs of milk production. Mammary glands are
located within the breasts. These glands are derived from a modification of sweat
glands. The breasts of both males and females have a raised nipple surrounded by a
circular, pigmented areola. The areolae have a slightly bumpy surface caused by the
presence of rudimentary mammary glands, called areolar glands, just below the
surface. Each adult female mammary gland usually consists of 15 to 20 glandular
lobes covered by a considerable amount of adipose tissue. The adipose tissue that

Alice In Wonderland Satire
As said by Dario Fo, It is hard... to enjoy or incorporate humor and satire (Fo).
Although, Lewis Carroll does a phenomenal with his use of satire within Alice in
Wonderland, which is a story of a young girl, Alice, in Wonderland. The novel
describes Alice s encounter with the illogical, random and quite mad world of
Wonderland, by following a white rabbit into a hole. Everything she experiences
causes her to question her perception of of reality and plain out common sense. The
extraordinary world is inhabited with peculiar and quite odd creatures, that attack her
with questions that make unsure of her identity. Eventually, she is woken up after

Should Veterans Get Health Care Essay
Veterans have risked their lives throughout the history of the United States to keep
its people safe and free from all harm. All military personnel should be taken for
granted and treat with respect even if the soldier is active or a veteran. Today
veterans are left homeless on the streets and have difficulties with life after serving in
the military. America offers veterans some benefits but it can be difficult to acquire
them. I think that the United Statescan take better care of their veterans by making it
easier to get health care, help veterans get jobs easier after the service, and improve
the GI bill. One reason why I think that America can take better care of their
veterans is by making it easier to get health care. Health care is offered for veterans
through the VA but it takes time and can be a very difficult process to acquire. I
think that Veterans should automatically be given health care after their service is
over because they deserve it after risking their lives for America, so America
should protect theirs. In past experiences I saw a man struggle because he was
diagnosed with cancer after his service, but could not get the health care from the
VA because it is a long process and takes a long time to get it. I think veterans should

Jackie Robinson Thesis
In 1947, Jackie Robinson was signed to the Brooklyn Dodgers. The non colored
people did not like this. So fans threw their concessions at him and teammates sent
Jackie hate mail. Jackie s teammates did not want to play with Jackie either. And
even worse the players from the other team threw balls at Jackie s head and spiked
him with their cleats. But nothing could stop Jackie Robinson. I have chosen to divide
my paper into four categories starting with who they are and ending with what their
impact on history is.
WHO IS JACKIE ROBINSON?
According to my book Jackie Roosevelt Robinson was born and grew in the small
town of Stamford, Connecticut. Jackie was one of the five children in his family.
Later in life, Jackie attended UCLA; he was great at baseball football and track and
field. After college, in 1942 Jackie Robinson entered the army. He was later promoted
to lieutenant and later he received an honorable discharge from the army.

Umpires would also purposefully make bad calls on Jackie and Robinson received
a lot of hate mail from his teammates (Arnold Rampersad). One game Pee Wee

Ethnic Identity Development
Ethnic Identity Development Ethnic identity development of ethnic minorities in the
United States has attracted an increasing attention in the adolescent development and
college transition literature. A review of literature related to ethnic identity
development highlights two major lines of research: 1) identity processes from a
developmental perspective and 2) the content and meaning of ethnic identity
(Phinney, 1989; Seller et al., 1997; Yip, 2014). Some scholars have specifically
examined the developmental progression that individuals go through as they come to

Hoping to address the limitations of the MEIM, Umana Taylor, Yazedjian Bamaca
Gomez (2004) created the Ethnic Identity Scale (EIS), which is primarily based on
Erikson s and Tajfel s theories. The EIS consists of 46 assessing three distinct
components of ethnic identity: exploration, resolution, and affirmation. The
exploration subscale assesses the extent to which individuals have explored their
ethnic identity; resolution subscale assesses the extent to which individuals have
resolved issues related to their ethnic identity, and affirmation refers to the feelings
(positive or negative) individuals associated with their ethnic identity. Using the three

Taylor et al. (2004) proposed a new categorization scheme which classifies individuals
into 8 ethnic identity statuses: diffuse positive, diffuse negative, foreclosed positive,
foreclosed negative, moratorium positive, moratorium negative, achieved positive,
and achieved negative. For example, diffuse positive characterizes individuals who
scored low on both exploration and resolution subscales, but with high affirmation.
Unlike the MEIM, the EIS allows researchers to take a dimensional approach to
understanding ethnic identity. The score of the subscales are continuous variables, so
researchers can examine the relationship among the three with other variables of
Tyranny In Greece
In the ancient Greek city states and over many centuries, the government (political
power) took many forms: held by a single individual: (monarchies and tyrants), or by
a select few (oligarchies and aristocracies), or by every male citizen (democracy).
A monarchy is a type of governance of the people by a single individual, with the
power retained by blood lines. In the pre Classical period, ancient Greece was
composed of small geographic units ruled by a local king.
People in these small geographic units, paid taxes to the king, obeyed his laws, and
depended on him for their defense.
Greek monarchies were only distinguishable from a tyranny when the hereditary ruler
was more caring and ruled in the genuine interest of his people.

However, Greek tyrants were not necessarily evil rulers, they simply looked after their
own interests (e.g. Pisistratus rule in Athens).
Sparta avoided tyranny, probably because of the need for unity amongst citizens
against helots.
As Tyranny governments have the tendency at being insecure, and try to maintain
their power by becoming increasingly oppressive; they decline in ancient Greece
because tyrants became greedy and harsh and were overthrown.
Democracy is the rule by the people (governance by the people).
Democracy was based on principle that all citizens of the city state of Athens had
right to attend and speak at assembly (women, slaves metics were not citizens).
The most important political posts were the 10 generals that were elected by the
assembly each year. Citizens were brought in by random lottery to serve on the
Assembly for one year. Assembly members decisions were made through public
debate and voting. The Council (smaller group) was responsible for day today

Second is the Lagos Water Communities project by NLE. This project addresses the
issue of Climate change emphasised by rapid organisation . It presents structures
identical to the Makoko Floating School arranged in a cluster to form a large
system. In this scheme, A series of A shaped 10m by 10m wide pyramids floated
on 256 recycled plastic barrels existing on 3 levels like the MFS but housing

own rainwater and waste collection mechanism could represent a prototype that
can be adopted to be homes, community hubs, worship space, social space and
much more. Some of this structure may be connected as smaller clusters to allow
for larger activity space, for example four of these may be connected diagonally by
a wooden platform to accommodate a larger school as well as give stronger
anchorage to the structure and prevent drifting. After a year an a half of deliberation
and testing from the conclusion of the construction of MFS in early 2013 to the its
eventual commission in late 2015, The Lagos state government finally approved the
model proposed in this scheme and stated that it would be taken into considering for
future development in the community. Chapter 6 above provides detailed explanation
about the Makoko Floating School project, however, before the crash of the first
prototype in Makoko, a second prototype tilted MFS 2 was exhibited at the 2016

Movie Review: The Great Gatsby and Romeo and Juliet
Question 1: The choice of set, props and clothing in both movies.
Juliet wants to extend her present, as her future prospects with Romeo are bleak and
Gatsby wants to create a beautiful future by restoring the past. Baz Luhrmann is
known for his distinctive style especially in films such as Romeo and Juliet, Moulin
Rouge and Strictly Ballroom. Also known as The Red Curtain Trilogy , there are
many similarities between all three of these films with The Great Gatsby. Baz
Luhrmann is able to keep his pompous signature style that has made him the director

It can be seen on peoples t shirts in the movie, shaved onto people s heads, tattooed
onto people like Sir Francis and there are saintly figures around the city. Even in the
title of the play Romeo + Juliet , this symbolises religion, Christianity. That religion
is an important part in the characters lives and also plays a huge aspect in the
movie. Props used are also guns in Romeo and Juliet. It seems as if every has a gun
and it is just the norm. In Romeo and Juliet, Juliet wears white dresses often which
symbolise her purity and innocence. In the Great Gatsby Daisy and Jordan also
wear white clothes but it symbolises the laziness and the stereotypes of the 1920 s
that women don t need to do anything and they can afford to wear white clothes
because all they do is lounge around. In both the movies the parties that are thrown
are huge and extravagant which show status and class. I both movies the parties act
as a catalyst to the main characters relationships. In Romeo and Juliet they meet at
the party and they re relationship builds there. In the great Gatsby at the party daisy

Cause And Effect Of Tsunamis
On December 26th, 2004, one of the largest megathrust earthquakes ever recorded
struck the coast of Indonesia. The energy released was equivalent to the eruption of
23,000 Hiroshima sized atomic bombs (Pickrell, 2005). Dangerous waves, known as
tsunamis, began radiating from the epicenter crashing into the shores of 11 Indian
Ocean countries. Destruction occurred reaching countries in Africa to Thailand (Risk
Management Solutions, 2006). Thailand was hit by the tsunamiapproximately 90
minutes after the initial earthquake, killing hundreds of thousands of people (Lusted,
2008). The waves of the tsunami reached heights of four to 39 meters, travelling up
to five kilometers inland. Due to the flat topography of the Banda Aceh region, wave
height was approximately four to eight meters, whereas height in the hilly areas was
larger (Cluff, 2008).

Tsunamis
A tsunami is a series of waves that are produced by large oceanic earthquakes or
volcanic eruptions at tectonic plate boundaries. These waves may reach 100 feet
and cause extensive damage in areas that are densely populated, especially if
proper warning systems are lacking. Reaching speeds of up to 500 miles/hour, the
waves can travel across the Pacific Ocean in less than 24 hours (Ramalanjaona,
2011). Tsunamis that are caused by a magnitude 7.5 7.8 earthquake are relatively
local in nature and will not damage regions that are distant. However, secondary
effects can still cause trigger events such as submarine
The Olympic National Park Is A Beautiful Place That Is...
Olympic National Park is a beautiful place that is full of rich history. Did you know
that 8 contemporary tribes once lived on the Olympic Peninsula? They all lived
there since before time was recorded. Their culture was, and still is, deeply
intertwined with the park s land and water. Olympic National Park has been a
spectacle that many have seen and admired for a long time, but the first well
documented exploration of the area wasn t until 1890. All of those on the
exploration team proposed that the area should become a national park. After this
exploration in the area started to become a national park. In 1897 it became a forest
reserve, the park s first national designation, and by 1953 the entire area was a
national park. This park... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By visiting this park you can see all of these spectacular creatures and experience the
wonderful weather. The Olympic National Park has been inhabited since time
immemorial. According to nps.gov the Hoh, Ozette, Makah, Quinault, Quileute,
Queets, Lower Elwha Klallam, and Jamestown S Klallam have lived in this area
since time immemorial and continue to maintain strong relationships to the lands
and waters now within Olympic National Park. In 1890 the first official
exploration of the area began and was led by Naturalist John Muir, Washington
Congressman James Wickersham, and Lieutenant Joseph O Neil. They all agreed
that the area should become a national park and in 1897 the park became
designated as Olympic Forest Reserve. In 1909 president Teddy Roosevelt
declared that part of the reserve was now Mount Olympus National Reserve to
protect the habitat of the endangered Roosevelt Elk. In 1937 the area became a
national park, but it wasn t until 1953 that the Pacific Coast was added making the
entire area a national park. One of the challenges that the Olympic National Park
faces is exotic plants that are taking over some the indigenous wildlife. Park
officials are trying to rid the area of the plants, but it is extremely difficult. These
plants are an ongoing struggle for Olympic National Park. The park is also working
to dismantle the two Elwha dams. According to
How To Build Basketball Essay
To build biceps to die for is not an easy task, but this article will put you on the
muscle building track. As many of you know I started my weight routine on
Wednesday, Day 15. I wanted to wait until the holiday season officially came to an
end. Now that it has I am on my weight routine of Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
For now I will do a 3 day schedule to give my body time to recoup, get over muscle
soreness and things of that nature. In my previous article I talked about the back
exercise I am using, the one arm dumbbell row. Today I want to tell you about how
I am working the biceps or the muscle of the front upper part of your arms. Most

Now slowly lower the weight back to the starting position. Repeat with each arm
until you each the desired amount of repetitions to complete your set. Right now I
am doing one set of twelve reps. That number will change as my body adjusts to the
routine. This way my body never gets adjusted to what I am doing.
I have read many articles that say in order for your body to respond to your exercise
program you must change it every 4 to 6 weeks. That is what I plan on doing.
Again, and I will state this in every article that I write. I am not a personal trainer,

have, see your doctor before you begin so they can take all of your vitals and let you
know what you can do and can not do.
In my next article I am going to go over working the chest muscles or

the year filled with memorable performances and a few Far East Championships.
With the weather dropping into the 30 s players are forced to enter the weight room
for their training regiments. The work that is put in during the offseason when
nobody is watching will play dividends on the field in February. With the tasks of

John Vogel s Thinking Outside The Housing Bubble
As we now know, the U.S. economy, the middle class, and its job growth was
damaged by the overwhelming collapse of Wall Street, which was triggered by the
downfall of the housing market and sub prime loan defaults. One of the main things
that need to be addressed in our economy today is the housing market and making
sure that our banks and credit unions are not allowing people who do not have the
necessary income to pay their mortgagedisbursements. In an article entitled Thinking
outside the Housing Bubble, the author John Vogel remarks how the economy is
generally supported by the housing market. Vogel states:
On the other hand, if we view the problem as a credit bubble, we might be able to

It is good, does not bore, and tension increases as the film passes as horror films
must do, has a good start and a good ending. You manage to create that connection
with the family and each of their 5 children, although you soon love them.
The best features of the film are: The photos that are so credible and the direction
of cameras, since each shot is perfectly well executed, with some landscapes such as
the front door to a tree that good is completely editing the sound too is really good.
Also within this film from time to time you get every fright, while they are
predictable at times (in all horror films are), come out of the ordinary and smartly
avoid getting bored watching the movie, but what it is really important is the
preparation for each of these moments, you do not know what will happen and when
you think you know change completely what you had thought would
The Theory Of Mind, And Sensation Essay
Aesthetics is the branch of philosophy that deals with the principles of beauty and
artistic taste. In other words, both sides of things like the Beauty and the Ugly.
Aesth means pleasure and pain while ethics means goodness and evil. This makes
the basis Emotion. Aesthetics is broken up to a lot of things. In the following essay,
we will be focusing and discussing the Theory of mind, and Sensation. The theory of
mind starts with Descartes Dualism. Descartes was a man that believed that the
body and the soul are different kinds of things. He called these substances. The
body is a material substance, meaning it is not only physical, but it is also the matter
in which something is made. On the other hand, the soul is an immaterial substance,
meaning it is something spiritual. A person has the combination of both of these
things which help create the Mind Body Dualism. The Mind Body Dualism is a
way to solve a problem between the two different kinds of facts: the physical facts of
a person like there features such as parts of their body and mental facts such as what
they believe in. The body has physical facts while the mind has mental facts.
Descartes wanted to prove this by imagining the body without the mind, and the mind
without the body. He said if the two things can survive without one or the other, then
they are not the same. This concludes that the body and mind are two completely
different things. This is called the Conceivability argument for dualism. This helped
Impact Of Technology On The Security System
T.J.X. was the leading fashionable brand name, off price product retailer in the
U.S. In 2013 the company s net sales reached $27 billion, increased by 6%
compared to the same period in 2012. In 2007, the company was revealed by the
investigating authorities that their database had been penetrated by hackers for 1.5
years, and been causing 94 million debit/credit card and customers personal
information stolen around the world of its 2,500 branch stores.
In 2005, the discussion of upgrading the wireless system to the standard WAP was
raised in the information department. However, they choose to focus more on
constraining the budget rather than to invest on wireless security system. According to
the corresponding email between the CIO and the employee, they were aware the
necessity of upgrading the system, but decided to overlook on the potential risk and
the contingency plan they relied on was hope, hoping that they will not get
compromised. And it was the same year when the first major intrusion into the
company s system had occurred at Marshalls. The criminal hacked into the network
and established connection with the main TJX server, then downloaded card
information with their program installed onto the server.
Since the hackers had access to the main database, they were able to modify and
delete log files and to move data to hide their movements. This could be one of the
reasons why it took the company almost two years to detect that there was some

The War On Human Trafficking
The War on Human Trafficking Leah A. Rampersaud La Guardia Community College
Professor Bojana Blagojevic
December 3rd ,2014
Introduction:
Today in our society human trafficking is a definitely a growing crime that more than
often goes unrecognized. Men, women and children are being stolen and traded for
sex everyday against their will. Mistakenly people tend to think that human trafficking
is a third world issue but it s not, it s bigger than that it s a worldwide phenomenon.
Although it s a world wide issued I will be focusing deeper on effects of human
trafficking in India, China and the United States; by analyzing the problem of
trafficking in these countries through the lens of the following international relation
theories liberalism, realism and social constructivism. A lot of people seem to think
slavery is something that happened hundreds of years ago and doesn t exist today.
My reason for choosing this topic is because a lot of individuals are unaware of
human trafficking and the reason is because of lack of information provided by the
public and ignorance. It s really an unfortunate situation and I believe the best thing
we can do is help raise awareness of the issue.
Human trafficking is a criminal activity; humans are being treated as a possession. It
is a terrible crime that affects every country of the world. It includes forced labor and
sexual exploitation. Human trafficking is modern day slavery it generates billions of
The Venetian Society in Othello by William Shakespeare
Othello by William Shakespeare raises the issue of how rampant beliefs and
attitudes in a society can cause a person to question their sense of self. In a society
where racial equality is near non existent, Othello, a black skinned foreigner in the
Venetian society, is constantly reminded of his status as an outsider. Othello
, however,
is not depicted in a stereotypical manner and despite occupying a highly respected
position he is often confronted with blatant racismthroughout the play. The
prevailing attitudes and beliefs of Venetian society towards Othello are exploited by
Iago in order to manipulate Othello s self confidence and emotional state. The fear
of interracial marriage in Venetian society is used by Iago in an attempt to alienate
Othello. Othello himself acknowledges the fact that interracial marriage is frowned
upon and that racism still applies to him despite his position. A common attitude in
Venetian society is that black men and women are inhuman and animalistic in
nature; Iago capitalizes on this idea in order to aid his plan of antagonizing Othello.
Brabantio, Desdemona s father, is a prime example of the attitude of Venetian society
as a whole, in the sense that he loved Othello as long as he remained a servant of
Venice and would rather Othello not intermingle amongst the Venetian society.
Initially Brabantio oft invited [Othello] to his home and queston d [him] the story of
[his] life , showing an admiration and sincere interest for Othello s

Outline
Our Presentation will be focused on the issues of male rape and the implications and
explanations of it.
We will be primarily focusing on women raping men rather male on male rape.
However, we will touch upon both types of male rape due to the large amount of
literature on that specific type.
The outline of our presentation will follow:
How Does The Law Define Male Rape and Sexual Assault
Statistics Regarding Male Rape
Social Construction of Masculinity
Male Rape by Women and Men
Difference between those types of rape (Implications/Explanations/The Failure to
Report)
The problems of reporting Rape: Shame, Humiliation and Embarrassment.
Feminism and Male Rape
Rape Power
Rape can be used as a weapon of war and is a common occurrence in prisons. For the
purpose of this presentation, we will be focusing on civil societies, especially as the
topic was covered last year.
Nonetheless, there will be a short section on how war rape and prison rape can
demonstrate rape as power.
What is Rape? How Does The Law Define Rape?
There are several definitions and terms regarding rape within society and law.
According to the law, rape is defined as the non consensual penetration with a penis.
A male rape victim is not considered a rape victim under S375(1) of Penal Code.
Rape is seen as the most severe form of coercion with the most extreme sexual
outcome in which sexual intercourse is obtained by the use of physical force or
threat of force (Waldner :53).

  • 2. Domestic Violence In The Football Industry According to ESPN, 49% of Americans claim to be fans of professional football based on an Associated Press poll, a decrease from the 56% who claimed to be fans in the previous year. The NFL is deemed as the most popular sports league in the United States drawing in the highest TV ratings by far. While conducting research, we are looking at the increase of viewership during National Football Leagueseason while players face scandals in their personal lives. There has been a growing trend within the NFL of scandals surrounding domestic abuse, drug related problems, and drunk driving incidents. In today s society people are drawn to news surrounding celebrities and professional athletes so these scandals have created ample hype. We believe that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... First, looking at the NFL s recent scandal cases will be imperative. Given that there is an increasing number of a sports scandal pertaining specifically to NFL players, case studies will be of the utmost importance to our research. There have been several cases since 2007 that have shown a higher rate of arrests specifically dealing with domestic violence (Pennington and Eder). An example of a case we could examine would be the recent Ray Rice case. Other domestic violence accounts that we would include involve players such as: Ray McDonald (San Francisco), Greg Hardy (Carolina), A. J. Jefferson (Minnesota), Robert Reynolds (Tennessee) and Dez Bryant (Dallas). On top of looking at those specific cases, we will need to look at Nielsen ratings and arrests in the NFL for those specific years or even months that those cases occurred. Although not all cases are as consequently severe as Rice s, it is important to analyze the previous cases to see if they have had any effect on viewership over the

The Victorian Period was a period that started in the year 1831 and lasted until 1900. In fact, this was the same time that Queen Victoria sat on the throne and that s why the period has that name. All of the traditions that England had before this period were changed in the middle and late of the Victorian period. The main issue of all of the cultural changes that the period gave to England got all of the society scared because of the quickness that these changes happen. These changes created a wealth in some families of England and rose the middle class in the social classes. In addition, the science improved and didn t care about Church s daily life. • 5. Arthur Miller s Death Of A Salesman Tragedy Characteristics Student s Name Institution Introduction The three characteristics of tragedy are; a tragic flaw, tragic dilemma, and reversal. The play Arthur Miller, Death of a Salesman, is about an old salesperson who returns early from a business trip. After crashing multiple times, he realizes he should stop driving. The other book, Oedipus the King narrates the story of Oedipus. He was a man who became the king of Thebes, while unwittingly fulfilling a prophecy that he would murder his father, Laius, and marry his mother, Jocasta. The above characteristics of tragedy are well highlighted. In the play Death of a Salesman, one flow hat contributes to Willy becoming a tragic character is that he found physical things to be more appealing than the basic things he needed for survival. An example of this is when Willy lies to his family and friends saying he was well liked as a salesperson, and he was happy and proud of his job, but in reality, it is entirely the opposite. Another example is the Willy s definition of success as living in the American dream. On the other hand, the book Oedipus the King occasions of tragic flow is evident. The first instance is when he first encounters Teiresias, a seer who declines to divulge the truth he admits to knowing. We see Teiresias begging Oedipus to let her go home. However, Oedipus doesn t want anything withheld from him, and he gradually becomes more agitated with this wheedling. Furthermore, Teiresias
  • 6. Explain Why the Arab Invasions of 710 and 711 Were so... Explain why the Arab invasions of 710 and 711 were so successful. In answering this question we must first appreciate the difficulty historians face in discovering the real truth of the early Arab invasions, a fact well demonstrated in the varying estimates of Arab invasion forces (ranging from 1,700 9000 in current publications). Scant contemporary evidence exists beyond a short narrative present in a Spanish chronicle of 754, a vital surviving Islamic administrative document of the time, and some archaeological remains. Our knowledge of the invasions is largely founded on the works of later Islamic historians, the Ajbar Machmua text for example and the works of Ibn Idhari and al Maqqari. Unfortunately there are fewer Christian... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The existence of a rival claimant caused dangerous divisions throughout the kingdom and in Akhila s demesne land of Tarragona and Narbonne coins were minted without the king s image, a clear measure of defiance. It is also reported in some sources that during the invasion Akhila conspired with the Arabs to depose Roderic. Some go as far as to say that during the final battle a wing of Roderic s army loyal to Akhila turned on him in the midst of the fighting. Whether this is true can hardly be proven but something catastrophic must have happened for the King s army supposedly far larger than Tarik s (Estimates 24,000 30,000 ) to suffer such a devastating defeat. Many historians support the idea that elements within the Visigothic nobility gave assistance to the invaders probably as a means of removing Roderic. It is unlikely however that they foresaw the long term implications of the invasion and the extension of Muslim presence in Iberia. It is argued that as well as the problems the succession dispute posed, the very fabric of Visigothic society itself was weak. It is suggested that the Visgothic nobility of the time, who had placed themselves above the native Hispano Roman population in terms of rights and privileges, were suffering a backlash from the lower sections of society. Incidents of rebellion had increased as had the number of slaves deserting their Lords. Many runaways turned to outlawry and as a consequence

Three phase induction motor of wound rotor type is commonly used in adjustable speed drives. According to the type of winding on rotor, there are two common types of induction machines namely, squirrel cage induction motor and wound rotor induction motor. Squirrel cage induction motors are mostly used in industrial drives which have cylindrical rotor with short circuited rotor windings with the voltage supplied to stator windings. The rotor does not have a brushes and commutator but consists of conducting bars that are placed into the rotor slots. These bars are short circuited by the shorting rings. Whereas wound rotor induction motors have wye connected rotor windings. In addition to the voltage that is applied to the stator windings, the phase voltages can be supplied to the rotor winding using brushes and slip rings. However, wound rotor induction motors have not been widely used because their efficiency and maximum angular velocity are lower compared to squirrel cage. On the other hand, squirrel cage motors have been tremendously used in high performance electric drives and electromechanical systems. Therefore, in this thesis, only three phase squirrel cage induction motor drive is taken and performance analysis has been done using
  • 8. Ancient Mesopotamia Geography The geographical location was an important factor in many of the ancient civilizations. Where the people settled determined whether they would have success at surviving. Both Mesopotamia and Egypt were ancient civilizations founded in roughly the same longitude and latitude area of the world. Hot dry areas full of dessert. What drew early civilizations to settle on these locations was the same for both places, land near water that was good for planting. What is different about each location is what makes these two early civilizations vastly different yet extremely important to our world today, the natural resources and the way the early settlers utilized them. The nomadic travelers moved their herds of animals through the desert did so from Oasis to Oasis. Another key geographical feature of Egypt is the Sinai Peninsula which is in the northernmost portion of Egypt that it connects that main area to the Red Sea. The ancient Egyptians referred to the fertile area along the Nile river bank as the black land and the desert as the red land. Egypt has flooding from the Nile that brings the silt which is black to the riverbanks making the land extremely fertile and very easy to plant in. This afforded Egyptians the opportunity to plant many farms with crops as well as provide the necessary nutrients to have farms with animals. What is a major difference between the Egyptian and Mesopotamia civilizations is the difference in the natural resources. Mesopotamia had a limited resources, Egypt had best amounts of resources, such as minerals, limestone, gold and other very valuable precious metals and stones. These resources the provided the Egyptian people with many things to trade and it helped set the course for the type of life that the Egyptian lived. Mesopotamia peoples had to make do with what the land provided. These abundant Egyptian

  • 11. What Is The Memory Consumption, Look On Convolution Layers... To analyze the memory consumption, look on convolution layers activity. A cache simulator used in virtual computational structure to measure the memory bandwidth without any assumption that it is capable of processing Tn neurons with Ti synapses each every cycle. The cache hierarchy is inspired by Intel Core i7: L1 is 32KB, 64 byte line, 8 way; the optional L2 is 2MB, 64 byte, 8 way. Here the caches have enough banks/ports to serve Tn _ 4 bytes for input neurons, and Tn_Ti_4 bytes for synapses. For large Tn; Ti, the cost of such caches can be exorbitant, here it can be used Tn = Ti = 16. The pseudo code of classifiers layers is given below [16]. for (int nnn = 0; nnn ВЎ Nn; nnn += Tnn) {for (int iii = 0; iii ВЎ Ni; iii += Tii)... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As expected, tiling drastically reduces the memory bandwidth requirements of input neurons, and those of output neurons increase, but slightly. The memory behavior of layers is now dominated by synapses. In any perceptron layer, all synapses are usually exclusive, and so there is no chance to reuse the information within the layer. The synapses can be reused across the network invocations that means, for each new input data existed to the neural network. So a suitably large L2 can be stored all network synapses and take advantage of that locality. In case of DNNs with private kernels, this is not possible as the total number of synapses are in the tens or hundreds of millions (the largest network to date has a billion synapses [18]). Though, for both CNNs and DNNs where kernel is shared, the total number of synapses ranges in the millions, which is within the reach of an L2 cache. Develop the case where reuse across network invocations is possible by considering only the perceptron layer; so, the total bandwidth requirements are now drastically reduced. Convolutional Layers : assume the 2 D convolution layers refer figure 3 and pseudo code of convulotion layers. The input and output feature maps (loops i and n) and kernel (loops i and n) are represented by two different convolutional neural layer with respect to classifier layers. There are two types of reuse opportunity for input and out layers in Convolution layers. The
  • 12. Effects Of Climate Change On Species Effect of Climate Change on SpeciesOver the years, the populations of many species have been affected due to human activities such as hunting and releasing fossil fuels, which seems to be the major culprit in causing climate change. Releasing these gases into the air is affecting the species because more carbon dioxide being released into the air, which causes heat to be trapped into the atmosphere. This action has caused some species to have problems to survive in the environment and decrease the population, eventually causing extinction. In some cases, species have found a way to adapt to the environment through genetic changes caused be evolution. The mechanisms of phenotypic resilience and evolutionary adaptation allows species to obtain the potential to adapt to warmer environments. Phenotypic resilience is where the species possess the ability to portray different phenotypes in a changing environment. In animals, the traits that respond to selection are migratory patterns, key morphological traits, life history traits, body size, and host preferences (Vellend et al., 2007). Overall, the question of whether the species adapt or become extinct due to climatechanges varies. There is not a straightforward explanation because some populations might decreases and some populations might dramatically increase. The ecosystem and environment is too large and broad to have a specific answer. The risk of extinction from climate changevaries across a variety of
  • 13. Political Parties And Its Influence On The Political Party Since the founding of our country and the government we live by, political parties have been present. These parties have had many influences on our government from their formation. Some of these influences that the parties have had were good, other were bad. Within our modern government, parties, have become a major impact and have had much influence. These parties are present to push their agendas and accomplish what they can through their influence on the government. The affect that these parties have had on our government can be seen through their influence on the three branches of government; the Executivebranch, the Legislative branch, and the Judicial Branch. Political parties have a massive influence on the Executive branch, or the president. The two party political system is the fore ground of our modern presidential elections. This system determines the two major candidates that the country ultimately chooses from for the presidency, either Republican or Democrat. As the American Government textbook states the political parties kept a tight control on the selection of a candidate (Krutz 454). This excerpt from the American Government textbook shows that the influence the party system has on the Executive branch is so great that it goes as far as to choose the candidates that the country gets to vote for. The party chooses the candidates for the presidential electionby holding primary elections where multiple people are put out for the states to vote, the

This furthers the ideas that the three weird sisters were seen as supernatural and not of this world not only because they are presented and described this way by Banquo, but also because of the general descriptions falsely conceived so called facts that the general populace thought of them in the time period. Furthermore, although the three weird sisters are the driving force of the supernaturaland evil throughout the play, there are other elements present that work both with them and around them. Clifford Davidson writes extensively on this topic, but what he discusses most is the idea of the evil force that exists throughout the entirety of the play. This force makes itself apparent in the weird sisters themselves as character, but also in the large and almost demonic influence that they have on Macbeth as he murders and plots his way to the throne. It s apparent that there is something bigger at work within the text other than the sisters, and that is this overlying force of evil that runs its course on Macbeth, eventually leading to his death.... For example, clients speak of wishes and fantasies of how they imagine their life. Dream Analysis also known as Dream Work. To what extent is Proulx saying people must weather the storms of life and reconcile the past with the future? To face life s storms is not to reconcile the past with the future, meaning to be happy with it, but to confront the past, conquer it, and then accept it. Acceptance in this instance, meaning to acknowledge the past, and acknowledge that it cannot be changed. It does not need to be understood, simply recognised as something that has happened. One area that the Mensheviks have been very successful is through the drafting and passing of legislation within the Soviet. The Mensheviks are responsible for the only bill that creates taxes to generate revenue and to hold the bourgeoisie in check from taking control. Being the only group to implement taxes, the Mensheviks showed that they are the most responsible group within the Soviet, since instead of only worrying about spending, they also worried about how they would pay for what they passed. Another impressive piece of legislation was the bill in support of workers rights and in support of improving their working conditions. By drafting and passing legislation in support of the workers, the Mensheviks showed that they are in support of the lowest class of people within Russia. One final bill supported fully by the Mensheviks created the United Soviet Defense Force. By creating the United Soviet Defense Force, the Mensheviks have set the Petrograd Soviet in place to be able to collect taxes and protect the interests of the people. Compromise is also a huge pillar in the mind of all Mensheviks and in the legislation, that is supported by all Mensheviks.
  • 20. Examples Of Teenage Rebellion In Catcher In The Rye Holden Caulfield: Teenage Rebellion Phony is defined as a fake or an ingenuine person, this word was used most often by no other than Holden Caulfield, the most recognizable teenager in American literature. To truly understand who Holden Caulfield is, we must take a trip back in time to the 50s. The 1950swas a decade of prosperity and conformity, life in the 50s was simply peaceful. However, in the summer of 1951, J.D Salinger published a book entitled The Catcher in the Rye , the main protagonist of the novel, Holden Caulfield, described the 1950s as a disgusting and phony era. Holden himself is depicted as a teenager disillusioned by the adult world. Holden finds the hypocrisy of the adult world to be almost intolerable, with this mindset, he alienates himself from the society and he soon realized that he wants to become a catcher in the rye , which is to be a guardian of children, protecting them from the ugliness of adulthood and the process of maturity. The fuel that drove Holden to become who he is today was that of his childhood sibling loss, after the tragedy, Holden became desperate and infuriated. Almost 70 years later, Holden Caulfield still resonates in American culture, this leaves reviews questioning, why was the novel so meaningful and popular? Salinger s universal idea of alienation and phoniness gave rise to the novel, never has anyone seen such a controversial book, but no one realized that Salinger s message is pointed toward the faults of the American society. Throughout the novel, Salinger provided numerous clues indicating his message to the readers about his belief about the American society. One clue is when Holden mentions the phoniness in the adult world, he can t help but judge a person based on his or her speech and appearance. For example, in the novel, Holden decided that he is not fond of a businessman, therefore, he states: You should see old Ossenburger... He started off with about fifty corny jokes, just to show us what a regular guy he was...That killed me... He was telling us all about what a swell guy he was, what a hot shot and all. I can just see the big phony bastard shifting into first gear and asking Jesus to send him a few more stiffs (Salinger 23). From this

Prejudice In Miriam Carver s The Narrator In Cathedral Prejudice comes in all forms; whether it is due to someone s skin color, religion, or disability, fear of someone who is different than what you view as normal is apparent all around us. Miriam Webster defines Prejudice as injury or damage resulting from some judgment or action of another in disregard to one s rights . Although most people tend to associate prejudicewith racism, that is not always the case. In quite a few instances of everyday life, it is hate towards another person you consider to be inferior and not normal. Prejudice implies a closed point of view, one that is not open to differences and a prejudgement of a group of people you have never interacted with. It is through the Narrators eyes we see his skeptical tone expressed in his prejudice and occasional jealousy, that we start to understand the Narrator. The Narrator in Cathedral depicts this hybrid definition of prejudice in his very character and it s this prejudice that sets the theme of the story, as well as setting up the ending in an ironic setting. MMPs are present in normal aortic tissue and are responsible for vessel remodeling. These proteinases are secreted into the extracellular matrix of AAAs by aortic smooth muscle cells and macrophages. I think that the United Statescan take better care of their veterans by making it easier to get health care, help veterans get jobs easier after the service, and improve the GI bill. One reason why I think that America can take better care of their veterans is by making it easier to get health care. So fans threw their concessions at him and teammates sent Jackie hate mail. Jackie s teammates did not want to play with Jackie either. And even worse the players from the other team threw balls at Jackie s head and spiked him with their cleats. But nothing could stop Jackie Robinson. I have chosen to divide my paper into four categories starting with who they are and ending with what their impact on history is. WHO IS JACKIE ROBINSON? According to my book Jackie Roosevelt Robinson was born and grew in the small town of Stamford, Connecticut. Jackie was one of the five children in his family. Later in life, Jackie attended UCLA; he was great at baseball football and track and field. After college, in 1942 Jackie Robinson entered the army. Hoping to address the limitations of the MEIM, Umana Taylor, Yazedjian Bamaca Gomez (2004) created the Ethnic Identity Scale (EIS), which is primarily based on Erikson s and Tajfel s theories. The EIS consists of 46 assessing three distinct components of ethnic identity: exploration, resolution, and affirmation. The exploration subscale assesses the extent to which individuals have explored their ethnic identity; resolution subscale assesses the extent to which individuals have resolved issues related to their ethnic identity, and affirmation refers to the feelings (positive or negative) individuals associated with their ethnic identity. Using the three subscales while being consistent with Marcia s (1980) identity statuses, Umana Taylor et al. (2004) proposed a new categorization scheme which classifies individuals into 8 ethnic identity statuses: diffuse positive, diffuse negative, foreclosed positive, foreclosed negative, moratorium positive, moratorium negative, achieved positive, and achieved negative. For example, diffuse positive characterizes individuals who scored low on both exploration and resolution subscales, but with high affirmation. Unlike the MEIM, the EIS allows researchers to take a dimensional approach to understanding ethnic identity. The score of the subscales are continuous variables, so researchers can examine the relationship among the three with other variables of

Tyranny In Greece In the ancient Greek city states and over many centuries, the government (political power) took many forms: held by a single individual: (monarchies and tyrants), or by a select few (oligarchies and aristocracies), or by every male citizen (democracy). A monarchy is a type of governance of the people by a single individual, with the power retained by blood lines. In the pre Classical period, ancient Greece was composed of small geographic units ruled by a local king. People in these small geographic units, paid taxes to the king, obeyed his laws, and depended on him for their defense. Sparta avoided tyranny, probably because of the need for unity amongst citizens against helots. Democracy is the rule by the people (governance by the people). Democracy was based on principle that all citizens of the city state of Athens had right to attend and speak at assembly (women, slaves metics were not citizens). The most important political posts were the 10 generals that were elected by the assembly each year. Citizens were brought in by random lottery to serve on the Assembly for one year. The energy released was equivalent to the eruption of 23,000 Hiroshima sized atomic bombs (Pickrell, 2005). Dangerous waves, known as tsunamis, began radiating from the epicenter crashing into the shores of 11 Indian Ocean countries. Destruction occurred reaching countries in Africa to Thailand (Risk Management Solutions, 2006). Thailand was hit by the tsunamiapproximately 90 minutes after the initial earthquake, killing hundreds of thousands of people (Lusted, 2008). The waves of the tsunami reached heights of four to 39 meters, travelling up to five kilometers inland. Due to the flat topography of the Banda Aceh region, wave height was approximately four to eight meters, whereas height in the hilly areas was larger (Cluff, 2008). Causes Tsunamis A tsunami is a series of waves that are produced by large oceanic earthquakes or volcanic eruptions at tectonic plate boundaries. These waves may reach 100 feet and cause extensive damage in areas that are densely populated, especially if proper warning systems are lacking. Reaching speeds of up to 500 miles/hour, the waves can travel across the Pacific Ocean in less than 24 hours (Ramalanjaona, 2011). Tsunamis that are caused by a magnitude 7.5 7.8 earthquake are relatively local in nature and will not damage regions that are distant. However, secondary effects can still cause trigger events such as submarine

Aesthetics is broken up to a lot of things. In the following essay, we will be focusing and discussing the Theory of mind, and Sensation. The theory of mind starts with Descartes Dualism. Descartes was a man that believed that the body and the soul are different kinds of things. He called these substances. The body is a material substance, meaning it is not only physical, but it is also the matter in which something is made. On the other hand, the soul is an immaterial substance, meaning it is something spiritual. A person has the combination of both of these things which help create the Mind Body Dualism. The Mind Body Dualism is a way to solve a problem between the two different kinds of facts: the physical facts of a person like there features such as parts of their body and mental facts such as what they believe in. The body has physical facts while the mind has mental facts. Descartes wanted to prove this by imagining the body without the mind, and the mind without the body. He said if the two things can survive without one or the other, then they are not the same. This concludes that the body and mind are two completely different things. This is called the Conceivability argument for dualism. This helped

The Venetian Society in Othello by William Shakespeare Othello by William Shakespeare raises the issue of how rampant beliefs and attitudes in a society can cause a person to question their sense of self. In a society where racial equality is near non existent, Othello, a black skinned foreigner in the Venetian society, is constantly reminded of his status as an outsider. Othello , however, is not depicted in a stereotypical manner and despite occupying a highly respected position he is often confronted with blatant racismthroughout the play. The prevailing attitudes and beliefs of Venetian society towards Othello are exploited by Iago in order to manipulate Othello s self confidence and emotional state. The fear of interracial marriage in Venetian society is used by Iago in an attempt to alienate Othello. Othello himself acknowledges the fact that interracial marriage is frowned upon and that racism still applies to him despite his position. A common attitude in Venetian society is that black men and women are inhuman and animalistic in nature; Iago capitalizes on this idea in order to aid his plan of antagonizing Othello. Brabantio, Desdemona s father, is a prime example of the attitude of Venetian society as a whole, in the sense that he loved Othello as long as he remained a servant of Venice and would rather Othello not intermingle amongst the Venetian society.
