Title: Mitosis and Meiosis
Exercise 1: Mitosis in Animal and Plant Cells
Questions:
A.) What is the purpose of mitosis?
The purpose of mitosis is to create or produce more cells for a living organism. Mitosis occurs when
genetic substance in the nucleus divides or separates in order to create more cells. Cytokinesis
normally occurs next and the single cell develops into two separate cells. This same process
continues to occur over and over creating more cells for an organism replacing old or dead cells.
B.) What other term is commonly used in place of mitosis ?
Another commonly used term for mitosis is cell division , because the division of cells is ... Show

Exercise 2: Meiosis in Animals
Questions:
A. Which organ, the ovary or the testes, contained the greater number of gametes?
The organ that contained the greater number of gamets is the testes.
B. What may be a reason for this?
The eggs in the ovary are much larger than the sperm in the testes and it takes numerous sperm
trying to get to the egg before one actually does fertilize the egg and most of the sperm die trying.
Observations:
Ovary:

Exercise 3: Simulating Meiosis
Questions:
A. What does mitosis accomplish?
The process of mitosis accomplishes replacing old or dying cells in an organism by replicating the
DNA and cell division.
B. When and where does mitosis occur?
Mitosis occurs in eukaryotic cells during the interphase of cell division.
C. What does meiosis accomplish? Meiosis has two consecutive cell divisions that produce a total
of four genetically different daughter cells.
D. When and where does meiosis occur?
Meiosis occurs in the ovaries and testes or reproduction organs during interphase.
E. How do these two processes differ?
Mitosis creates identical cells to replace old or dying cell tissue while Meiosis occurs in the sexual
reproduction organs and creates genetically different cells.
F. How do Prophase in Mitosis and Prophase I in Meiosis differ?
In mitosis chromosomes create two sister

Nutrition and Health:
Underdeveloped and Developed Nations
Despite the vast research on nutrition and health, malnutrition is still a major fatality in this present
day. Policymakers, social scientist and medical experts have expressed alarm about the growing
problem. While most agree that the issue deserves attention, consensus dissolves around how to
respond and resolve the problem. Malnourishment continues to be a primary health liability in
developing nations such as Asia, sub Saharan Africa and Latin America. It is globally the most
significant risk factor for illness and death, predominantly with hundreds of millions of pregnant

Unsafe water supplies are often contaminated with infectious agents, toxic chemicals, and
radiological hazards. In 2000, the World Health Organization and UNICEF identified some 2.4
billion people who did not have basic sanitation facilities, and 1.1 billion people without a safe
drinking water supply. (Wagner, 2009) Some communities experienced diarrhea, caused by a
variety of parasites, viruses, and bacteria that infect people as a result of contaminated drinking
water or poor hygiene. In India, more than 500,000 children die from diarrhea every year. Like
other tropical diseases, when diarrhea does not kill, it weakens, leaving people more susceptible to
other infections, such as tuberculosis and HIV. (Whitman, 2008).
Lack of Prenatal and Postnatal Education
Breastfeeding is the single most effective nutritional strategy for protecting infants against
infections and diseases. Three mechanisms have been proposed by which human milk constituents
protect the infant from infection. Two are based on the immunologic constituents of human milk
and the third is its high nutrient value. (National Academy Press, 1992) In LDCs the health of
many children are significantly impaired, sometimes permanently, by the lack of nutrition they
received during the breastfeeding phase. Breastfeeding requires a mother to have a specific diet. In
the industrialized countries of the

The Problem Of Conflict Mineral
While the term conflict mineral can be used to refer to any mineral resource being exploited by a
belligerent faction in order to perpetuate hostilities, it is most commonly associated with columbite
tantalite, cassiterite, wolframite, and gold ore, collectively known as 3TG minerals.i These ores,
used to produce tantalum, tin, tungsten and gold, respectively, comprise a multi billion dollar
market fueled by the growing demand for electronics and other products related to the technology
industry. The 3TG group is essentially vital in every modern electronic device: phones, computers,
pacemakers, light bulbs, batteries, generators, planes, cars, everything.ii The issue with this
industry is that these minerals are often harvested by a variety of military factions concentrated in
Central Africa, then shipped across the porous border undeclared to Tanzania, Uganda, Burundi,
Zambia, Zimbabwe, or Rwanda, smuggled to Africa s eastern coast, and finally shipped to smelting
factories in Southeast Asia and the Indian sub continent.iii Once the minerals reach the smelting
plant they are melted down with other shipments from around the world and any hope of
identifying whether or not they were used to fund the growing number of human rights violations
occurring in the Democratic Republic of the Congoand throughout Central Africa dissolves. As
though this supply chain was not already complex and spanning over a myriad of legal jurisdictions
each with their own issues, it is estimated

Innocent Man
A book Review of The Innocent Man
By, Oscar Thomas
Novelist, former attorney, and Mississippi legislator, John Grisham, wrote the book entitled
Innocent Man. As a small town lawyer in the South, he experienced many events that provided him
with a clear view of families and communities. For this particular book, however, he gathered
research that would provide insight to the justice system of Oklahoma and he found injustice that
took the best years of a man s life.
While reading several selections Grisham book, I conclude that he is definitely pro anti capital
punishment. He really focuses on the lack of justice in the criminal justice system in states
predominately in the South and Midwest area. In these states spending any ... Show more content on

In an era where everyone is so concerned about the money, denying a defendant a reasonable
amount of funding (to his public defender) for expert consultants and their testimonies could save
thousands upon millions of dollars in wrongful prosecution lawsuits later. With the advent of DNA,
many previously convicted men and women are being let out. Interestingly enough, DNA evidence
isn t the ONLY thing that would have exonerated them, but no one would listen. One issue I think
Grisham was trying to help people see is the fact that we should not believe what we THINK, it has
to be what we KNOW. What is the harm in humane treatment? Yes, criminals should be kept from
the public, but since the justice system is not perfect and will make mistakes they shouldn t be so
self righteous about their treatment of those they deem unworthy.
Ron s example was just one of many who, because they are not the smartest, most capable souls,
they make stupid mistakes, their odd behaviors offend many and they are the first ones put under a
microscope when something goes wrong.
In light of recent events, the shooting at Sandy Hook elementary school, multiple bomb and
shooting threats since then, as well as other crimes (NYC subway system) people tend to react in
a negative way toward people they feel are a threat. IF they are odd or quirky, for example, I
recently read that in New York, right after Sandy Hook, a local politician made the

How Did Siddhartha Gautama Obtain Life Of An Ascetic
As the previous source indicates, Siddhartha Gautama passionately pursued the life of an ascetic.
According to one tradition, he ultimately reduced his daily food to a single grain of rice. After

The Republican Party And Wendy Davis For The Democrat Party
One of the biggest Governor races in Texas history, the race was between Attorney General, Greg
Abbot and State Senator, Wendy Davis, Greg Abbot for the Republican Party and Wendy Davis for
the Democrat Party. Both candidates have a lot to offer to the state of Texas, and it was a very
nasty battle with many campaign segments bringing the opponent down, or trying to at least.
Attorney General Greg Abbott will take the win and become the TexasGovernor, winning by twenty
one points. His victory against Wendy Davis was worse than any Democrat has suffered since
George W. Bushs race against Garry Mauro in 1998 (Heinz). Abbott s victory speech is very well

Greg Abbott (Heinz). Throughout the speech he never mentioned tactics on how he won the
election, or critiquing Davis campaign tactics. He was just very thankful for being the winner.
If you were to watch the speech, the viewer could easily tell he felt very honored, as anyone
would, being the first governor elected in 14 years. Abbott talks about his injury when he was in
his 20s and an oak tree fell on him, and paralyzed him from the waist down. You could see the
emotion in his eyes, and his shaken voice when he was talking about this subject, and that it was a
subject that was very sentimental to him. Texas is a state that provides many opportunities to many
people, it does not matter what race you are, if you have any disabilities, or how much education
you have; there are still many opportunities that Texas has for you. In his victory speech he wants
everyone to know that he is living proof of being pushed all the way to the bottom, and struggling to
get back up again, but with determination and perseverance anyone can achieve anything they want;
they just cannot give up. Governor Abbott mentions that we can provide more

These services are delivered in response to citizen, property owner, and developer questions and
applications. These services are conducted largely in the Current Planning program, which is
staffed by two planners. The Planner II devotes about 80% and the Assistant Director devotes
60% of work time to these services. One long range planner (not in this program in Long Range
Planning) also conducts many of these reviews (about 40% of work time allocated). A second long
range planner (not in this program) occasionally conducts casework (about 15% of work time). The
Program also includes two full time Development Coordinators. These positions provide full time
support to planning, engineering, and building as well as an interdepartmental reviewing team
(Development Review Committee). The Planner II also serves as the City s Land Manager, devoting
roughly 5% of work time to this function. The Director of Planning devotes about 50% of time
providing direction, oversight, and interdepartmental coordination on a weekly basis. Normal
working hours where this service is provided is Monday Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with
weekly night meetings. Most of the service is provided at City Hall with occasional off site
meetings at other City facilities or with customers. Work also involves site visits and inspections.

The Assassination of Jfk and His Accomplishments While He...
The Assassination of JFK and his Accomplishments while he was in Office.
The assassination of John Fitzgerald Kennedy remains a mystery to this day. Some argue that
there is more than one shooter, I personally agree with this theory. Although his presidency was
very short, he made great strides in giving the people what he promised. He most likely would
have helped America in more ways than one and it would have been great to have seen what he
would have accomplished. John Fitzgerald Kennedy was killed by Lee Harvey Oswald on
November 22, 1963 in Dallas, Texas at the Daeley Plaza. On November 24, 1963 a man named
Jack Ruby shot and killed Oswald while Oswald was being transported to another jail. Oswald was
the only known person who ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He was in the marines so he had a great deal of skill in handling guns. He wanted to live in
Russia, but he could not get his visa. When he lived in Dallas, Texas he openly expressed his
views of communism by handing out leaflets. His views greatly conflicted with the views of
Kennedy. For less than six months he worked for the Texas School Depository which is located
near Daeley Plaza. The theory is the Oswald shot Kennedy from the sixth floor of the Depository
and hid the gun there. When the gun was found and examined later, Oswald palm print was
found on the barrel on the gun (Salisbury,1964). During all the chaos Oswald went home to get a
pistol. He then returned to the Depository where he shot Officer Tippet when the officer
approached to question him. He was arrested for killing Officer Tippet and it was not until later
JFK 5 that he was linked to the assassination of Kennedy. He claimed he was innocent on the
accounts of shooting both President Kennedy and Officer Tippet. On November 24, 1963 Oswald
was shot and killed by Jack Ruby. There are theories that Ruby shot Oswald because Ruby didn t
want Oswald selling him out if they were accomplices in the assassination (IMDb.com, Inc., 2008).
There are witnesses that can testify that they saw a man fire a weapon from the sixth floor of the
Depository. Eye witness Howard L. Brennan claimed that he saw a man in leaning out of a window

Events Between 1870-1945
Bentley first talked about cross cultural interactions as a way to categorize the World s history. He
in addition wrote about the importance of understanding events from a global perspective, not just
one country s point of view. Because of these two fundamental elements to his argument, we can
assess events differently than before hand, finding out ways to take a step back and look at actions
as they affect multiple nations simultaneously. Of these international events from 1870 1945, the
Age of Imperialism, World War I
, and the Great Depressionhad worldwide impacts on economic and
social issues.

In fact, many of the propositions Wilson put forward were not accepted, but the most accepted one
however was the League of Nations, which was meant to secure peace.
The Great Depression not only affected America, but the rest of the world as well. This global
depression began in the United States in 1929 but would soon play an important role in why
countries turned inward to economic independence and lead to the rise of communism. The 1920
s had Americans living in great prosperity. Consumers ruled the marketplace, buying as much as
they could afford, even spending tomorrow s wages today. Companies were about to face the
grim reality that they were producing more goods than they were able to sell. People simply did
not have the money to buy all these products and everyone instead began to invest their money in
the stock market. In October of 1929, the stock market collapsed in America which soon would
lead to the domino effect in Europe.
Since America no longer had the money they once did, they couldn t afford to continue making
loans to Germany. At the treaty of Versailles, Germany was forced to pay war reparations, but
their problem was that they clearly did not have the money to pay back all these countries for the
damages caused in the war. America then gave loans to the Germans in order to pay both France
and England. These two countries however were in debt to America for their

Mental Illness And Its Effects On The Quality Of Life
As medicine has advanced, so too has the quality of life. Although correlation does not imply
causation and other factors are also responsible for the increase in the quality of life, there is no
doubt that we have become better than ever at diagnosing and treating many ailments. Ethically,
though, there may be problems with the process of diagnosing many diseases, particularly those
that have psychological roots. The predicament arises because there are otherwise no notable
physical signs (e.g. fever, rash, aches and pains) for many mental illnesses, as is the case for many
pathological diseases. A specific illness fitting the criteria of no physical signs is depression. The
statistics behind the disease are horrifying. As a mental health... Show more content on

This paper attempts to argue that the latter statement is reasonable, and the ethics involved with
over diagnosis lead to negative consequences.
In my opinion, due to the loose definition of the disease, financial involvement of pharmaceutical
companies and the relationship between access to drugs due to the ailment and drug addiction, the
increase in diagnosis impacts the credibility of those who suffer from the debilitating disease and
decreases the vote of confidence amongst those responsible for diagnosis.
Traditional wisdom suggests that it s always better safe than sorry when it comes to treating
diseases. This technique is often practiced so long as the different treatment options do no interfere
with each other. For example, when the body is under attack of a bacterial infection, a regimen of
antibiotics treat for any number of bacteria that may be attacking the body. Or in the case of
cancers, it is always better to take part in a screening, even if the outcome is malignant. There is an
obvious advantageous outcome from this procedure that leads to either peace of mind or proactive
measures. When dealing with the complex and conscious organ of the brain, though, treatments are
often harmful to the patient. Antidepressants are the most common form of treatment for
depression. The method of action of these medicines involves

My Personal Experience Of A Christmas Eve Day
On Sunday December 24, it s Christmas Eve. So we did our daily routine and we got ready for
Christmas Eve party. The party started around 6:00. We had apple cider, chips, Indian snacks
/food, and other good stuff. After the party, we played a game. We played playing cards. We
played Uno. It was really fun.
On Monday December 25, it Christmas. I know a lot of people open their presents in the
morning, but that s not what we do. We do our daily routine and get ready. After we all get ready,
then my sister and I opened presents and celebrated. I got clothes, sock slippers, jewelry, comb,
and makeup. My sister and I are so thankful of what we got. After we opened the presents, we
played a game. We played Carrom. Carrom is a board gamewhere there are 9 black coins, 9 white
coins, 1 red coin, and a striker. You re trying to shoot the coins into the goal with a striker. So if I
was white coins, I have to shoot all 8 white coins into the goal. Then there is 1 white coin and 1
red coin. So I have to shoot the red coin into the goal an if I make it, I have to shoot my white
coin. If I make that, the game is over and I would win. If I made all 8 white coins and have to
shoot the red into the goal and if I don t make the red coin into the goal, than I have to put that
coin in the middle. If the other person shoots the the white coin, than the game is over and I would
win. If they shoot the white coin in the beginning, than it s okay because they did it for you. You

Antibiotic Resistant And Infectious Diseases

Antibiotics are medications that kill bacteria which could also make us sick and eventual patient

People are dying worldwide just from virus outbreak while they also seeking for a treatment of the

This review presents the salient aspects of antibiotic resistance development over the past half
century, with the oft restated conclusion that it is time to act. To achieve complete restitution of
therapeutic applications of antibiotics, there is a need for more information on the role of
environmental microbiomes in the rise of antibiotic resistance. In particular, creative approaches to
the discovery of novel antibiotics and their expedited and controlled introduction to therapy are
obligatory. If something is not done sooner than later to prevent antibiotic resistance, we will
produce the major organism that we will not be unable to kill by some normal manners. The
medicine we are taking for infection disease is making the sickness worse not to be better.
History of antibiotic resistance
Antibiotics have become the mainstay of our defense against bacterial infections. They
revolutionized medical care in the 20th century and become miracle drug of the modern medicine.
In 1928, British bacteriologist Alexander Fleming serendipitously discovered penicillin in molds
that had contaminated a dish used to grow bacteria in his lab. The dish was

The movie The Doctor, has allowed us to see health care from a different perspective than we are

there is more to his job than just having a lot of education and being able to operate well on his

Astrology In The Renaissance Era
Renaissance Historical Research Analysis Report (Astrology)
The practice of Astrology began in the early 17th century. It s one of the greatest impacted that had
hit humanity in the mid 1700s, It created an impact so big, that everyone started to question their
future. Although some people never took Astrology, many thought it was a superstitious belief,
some thought it was very much unreal. On the other hand some thought it was the key to changing
their destiny, and lifestyle. Astrology began its journey from weather predictions, to zodiac signs,
to changing peoples destiny just by saying a few words, or reading something off of a card. But
the real questions is astrology still as strong as it was in the renaissance era, or has it changed ...

Amazon Rainforest And Its Impact On The Biome
What Is Amazon Rainforest, What Are the Human Activities In it and what effects do these
activities have on the biome?
One of the biome which I found interesting was the Amazon rainforest. The Amazon Rainforest is
region which is owned by more than 1 country because of its land mass. It is actually owned by 9
nations. This biome is situated in the amazon basin of South Africa. The Amazon Rainforestcovers
5,500,000 km2 (2,123,562 sq mi) of total 7000000 km2 of the Amazon basin. This particular

Climate Condition:
Amazon rainforest has a tropical climate or also know as the equatorial climate. It is humid
throughout the year and has an average temperature of 28 degree celsius. We can not really
divide the climate between summer and winter as it has a annual temperature range of 2 degree
celsius. The temperature difference between day and night is about 2 to 5 degree celsius. The
climate is not as hot as we may except it rarely goes above 30 degree celsius. but the only trouble
in the rainforest is the humidity which causes a feeling of lack of air. Due to the humidity we can
not really see a dry season in the amazon as it rains thought out the year. We can divide rainfall in
Amazon into into two parts rainy and not so rainy.
If we look at the above climate table of the amazon basin we can find that the temperature is
almost constant throughout the year. But we can kind of divide rainfall in Amazon into rainy and
not so rainy . If we have a look at the above table between the months June to September we can
call it not so rainy and the rest of the months we can call it rainy. This is between October to May.
Flora and Fauna:
There are around 40,000 plants species, 427 mammals, 1,300 birds , 378 reptiles and 400
amphibians and 3000 freshwater fishes. These are just the number of some big animals. But in fact
if we count the number of smaller life forms it will be way more the above number. There are more

Ex-Convict Interview
RESEARCH UNDERTAKEN For the research and development process I interviewed an ex
convict. I got the idea for this story from someone who underwent both lung and live kidney
donation. Initially the RAF played a role in my story, but I ended up cutting it most of it from the
script. I did, however in preparation, interview a current worker and a retired to gain contrast
within the years. I spoke to nurses, and other transplant patients alike. Both lung patients and
kidney patients who were waiting, and those who d had their transplant and were fighting fit. The
difference was compelling to see and I wanted to portray this in the script, and to try and promote
the positives of organ donation. I was also lucky enough to interview a kidney transplant... Show

I found researching this area extremely interesting and the depth of information is endless, but
the best research I felt that gave me the most out of what I needed, were the interviews. Learning
about the characters I wanted to portray but the true feelings of real people who were in the
situation of waiting as well as their families. How they felt watching their loved one get sick and
there was nothing they could do and I wanted to develop this further. I gained many ideas from
the ex convict and stories from transplant patients. All these were so inspiring; I had to combine
them and thus, developed many ideas. Jackson s character was the hardest because during the
many interviews I got to know him on a personal level and didn t want to use everything that was
real, I needed my own, but what I thought of doing, I later found out was part of his life. I had
thought about making him the antagonist with a view to control Aimee after part of him was
embedded in her body but in a last attempt I tried with him loving her and saving the day to which
he fully redeems himself and deserves to be happy as does Aimee and her

Gun Control In Canada Essay
The federal government is mainly responsible for guns and gun control in Canada. Legislation
covering guns and gun control in Canada consists mainly of Part II of the Criminal Code of
Canada (CCC) and related regulations, and the Firearms Act. Firearms Act is an act respecting
firearms and other weapons. The Canadian Firearms Program (CFP), part of the Royal Canadian
Mounted Police (RCMP), is responsible for the authority of the Firearms Act, which covers the
possession, transportation, use and storage of firearms in Canada. The CFP handles the licensing
of individuals and maintains a national database of firearms records. Additional laws and
regulations also apply at the provincial or municipal level of government. There are three classes...

According to the database there are 6,978,702 non restricted firearms, 658,847 restricted firearms
and 188,465 prohibited firearms, registered in Canada. In order for Canadians to acquire, possess
and register a firearm and obtain ammunition for it, we are required to have a licence, which must
be kept current. Also, there are four types of firearms licences in Canada: Possession and
Acquisition Licence (PAL), Possession Only License (POL) and Minors License (ML). PAL allows
gun owners to achieve or permanently import a firearm. POL allows a firearm owner to possess
registered firearms, including borrowed firearms, of any class labelled by the license. ML enables
young people to borrow a non restricted firearm for authorized purposes such as hunting or target
shooting. Broadly, the minimum age is 12 years. According to the RCMP, there are 1,960,380 gun
license owners in Canada. Unlike the American constitution, neither the Canadian Constitution, nor
the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms clearly says Canadians have a right to possess and

Psychoactive Drugs Affects The Body
Psychoactive drugs are a substance that change and affect the consciousness, mood, behavior of
the person taking these drugs. The powerful effect that psychoactive drugs have on the brain is
caused by the chemicals in these substances that can replicate the chemicals found in the brain.
These chemicals are designed to be able to imitate the functions of chemicals in the brain; they act
primarily in the central nervous system affecting the neurons in the brain. There is an interruption
in communication of neurons which affects our bodies in different ways; some can stimulate
activity in the CNS, while others can depress and decrease the activity. There are many different
types of drugs that can change the brain chemistry in this way, two of these are narcotics and
stimulants. Psychoactive drugs change the way people that take them feel about things, narcotics
in particular change the way people feel about pain being that this substance is used to relieve
pain. This opiate is highly proficient in relieving the feeling of pain: a person taking a narcotic

yet, there are also illegal stimulants such as, ecstasy and methamphetamines that many people
abuse. The adverse effects of abusing these substances repeatedly can lead to feelings of hostility
and paranoia, which can ultimately cause the person to make impulsive decisions. The damage that
stimulants do to the health of someone abusing the drug can be destructive because it can become

Main Ideas
Main Ideas: After reading this novel, the first idea that was clearly evident throughout the entirety
of the story is that Jewish people are highly unwanted. Leslie Schwartz was just a young boy when
he began to experience these unwelcoming greetings from the Germans, who in particular were the
Nazis. During this time period Jewswere looked down upon and were even considered to be dirty
. This term dirty that was used to describe the Jewish was not used in a literal way most times,
instead it is used as a metaphor suggesting that they were somewhat similar to what we know as
slaves. An event that occurred where Leslie and thousands of other Jews experienced this term dirty
first hand, appeared during the time period they left... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The second main idea that occurred throughout the novel was the idea of courage. Courage and
bravery is what helped Leslie survive the tragedies he did and was able to help him rebuild his
life after these events were over. One of the main events where Leslie needed to be courageous
was when he had the option to either stay with his mother and sister during the concentration
camp separating, or join his step father whom he fully did not trust yet. Leslie had this decision
to make that would determine life or death. In the end Leslie decides to join his step father and
many other men to go to a concentration camp separated from the women and children. I must say
that Leslie made the right choice by deciding to go with his step father, because hadn t he not gone
he might have not been able to share this story of his with all of us.
Analysis:
There are a variety of different focuses that were present throughout this book, all which have a
very important message and impact. The one focus, or intent as to why the author wrote this
novel was to inform the reader about such a tragic event that has taken place in history and to
raise awareness so that things like this do not end up reoccurring. Something that has inspired
many readers already, this book was also intended to inspire those reading it not to give up on
achieving their goals and dreams in life. Leslie did not give up on trying to

Comparing The Duality Of Human Nature In Alfred...
Alfred Hitchcock s horror film, Psycho, gives the audience insight on characters who display dual
personality traits. The audience gets to see changes occur within Norman and Marion throughout
the film. These two characters share nothing in common except for the fact that they are a capable
of being normal and committing crimes, showing that they have two different sides to themselves.
Hitchcock uses filmtechniques such as lighting, camera angles, and costume change to demonstrate
the duality of human nature. When the film first starts off, Marion Crane is shown lying on a bed
in her white underwear in a romantic scene along with her boyfriend Sam Loomis. The white she
is wearing represents her purity and her position on the bed tells us that she is the vulnerable one in
the scene. For a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

That is until she steals four thousand dollars. Hitchcock s techniques go along with portraying
the other side of Marion. She s seen wearing black instead of white and when she is driving to

audience only gets to see the duality of Marion for a short time due to the fact that her life was cut
short, but her costume changes and music that is played along her devious escape allow the
audience to clearly see the change that occurs. The duality in Norman Bates can be seen in several
different ways. Hitchcock uses costume change, lighting, voice overs, camera angles and music to
represent the two sides of Norman Bates. One side of him is Norman himself, a childish grown
man, awkward, friendly, and creepy and the other side of him is

Internal recruiting can promote growth from within the organization. Many large companies
encourage internal promotion as a source of friendly corporate culture. External sources can
also be beneficial if the company is looking for a fresh start or someone with some new ideas.
External recruiting can help to diversify an organization while bringing in needed competencies.
Hiring externally can be done through various ways such as Internet job boards, and staffing
agencies. External hiring might be more costly but may provide more outstanding candidates.
Whichever the organization decide internal or external, the position needed to be filled will
determine the order of the search. Once you have started recruiting it is time to view your
potential qualified candidates. The key in the selection process is to choose a strategy for
screening your candidates so that you are able to view the people that or most qualified for the

Aldi Runs And How It Maintains Its Success
Foreword
So what is good about Aldi? What is it that they do different which make them so successful? In
this report I hope to give the reader a better insight into the way Aldi runs and how it maintains its
success. I will look deeper into what Aldi could do to make them even more profitable and more
successful in terms of increasing customer footfall and spend. I will also look at what is currently
done in terms of influencing customer decisions in Aldi. I will assess the factors which underpin
consumer behaviour and evaluate the nature and type of decisions undertaken by consumers and
the organisation, All of this will be done with the aim to produce a strategy which can make Aldi
more successful in terms of increasing customer footfall and spend.
In increasingly competitive markets, consumers have better choices over where they buy their
products. For an organisation to meet its business objectives, it has to find out what consumers
require and then identify the best way in which it can satisfy these needs and wants. Creating a
competitive advantage can be difficult. A unique marketingstrategy with clear objectives is vital to
ensure effective promotional activity.
Aldi s main marketing objective is to grow its market share within the UK grocery market. With
the economic crisis a couple of years ago came an increased demand for value for money. Market
research identified that just over 80% of Aldi s customer base also shopped at other supermarket
chains. The

For example, The average costs of installation and maintenance for natural grass fields were
$325,000 and $27,000 while the average costs of installation, maintenance, and resurfacing for
synthetic infill fields were $1,212,000, $7,000, and $377,000. With the average cost of a single
year of maintenance for five natural grass fields was $35,000 while the average cost of a single
year of maintenance for the 10 synthetic infill fields was $7,000 (Daviscourt 1). In other words,
even though turf fields are costly at the beginning, for 10 synthetic fields it is 5 times less the
cost than 5 grass fields. This is important because if Rocket booster stadium upgrades the school
would be saving $28,000 in savings on field maintenance annually. L.B. Daviscourt goes on to

$903,000. The average cost of a 20 year maintenance cycle for the 10 synthetic infill fields was
$1,952,000. The average on synthetic infill fields was two times as much the average for natural

Why Buyers Should Not Consider Purchasing A Home
After increasing my own financial awareness and witnessing the financial journeys of others during
the past recession, I find that boomerang buyers should not consider purchasing a home as their
sole financial investment. Mortgages with ballooning payments mixed with hopes of future
refinancing are a dangerous combination. These factors precipitated the last housing bubble and
the eventual recession period. In order to learn from past behavior, home buyers should ensure
that they habitually save for a rainy day fund because financial rainy days have proven to be
cyclical. Purchasing a home should be a process that results in a buyer feeling comfortable with the
home they choose versus simply selecting the largest mortgagefor which they... Show more content

business owner, who do you think of, a man or a women? Unfortunately, when most people think of

Reintroduction Of Wolves In Yellowstone National Park
How has the reintroduction of wolves affected Yellowstone National Park? It is commonly
acknowledged that, in a biological ecosystem all species are closely affected each other through
a food chain. However, what people don t really recognize is how hugely one species can affect
the entire ecosystem. The reintroduction of wolves in Yellowstone National Park depicts a vivid
example how one predator can contribute to the recovery of biodiversity and its astonishing
impact on physical geography. Reintroduction of wolves brought about recovery of plants and
animals in Yellowstone National Park. In 1990s, deer were overpopulated due to absence of its
predator, wolves. Regardless of people s efforts, the number of deer kept increasing. As a result,

Discuss the Role of the Inspector in An Inspector Calls...
Birlings, he controls the development of events: who will speak and when; who may or may not
leave; who will or will not see the photograph. He even Priestley describes the Inspector, when he
first appears on stage, in terms of massiveness, solidity and purposefulness (p.11), symbolizing the
fact that he is an unstoppable force within the play. His disconcerting habit of looking hard at the
person he addresses before speaking (p.11) gives the impression that he sees through surface
appearances to the real person beneath. It also gives him a thoughtfulness that contrasts with the
thoughtlessness of each character s treatment of the girl.
His role in the play is not simply to confront each character with the truth, but to ... Show more

The Inspector is the catalyst for the events of the play: without him, none of the characters secrets
would ever have come into the open, for a variety of reasons. For Birling could not see that he did
anything memorable or wrong in sacking a troublemaker; Sheila thought her rather spiteful jealousy
of a pretty shop assistant was not
anything very terrible at the time (p.24); Gerald needed to conceal his involvement with the girl
from a jealous fiancéée; Mrs Birling is too cold ever to have known what [the girl] was
feeling (p.45) and her effect seems lost on her; and Eric had resorted to theft, which he too needed
to conceal. Without the Inspector s purposefulness , each character could not or would not have
acknowledged their behavior.
The Inspector s somber appearance and the news he brings are a contrast with the happy and
elegant air of celebration on stage. His name, Goole (ghoul?), gives him a mysterious, disturbing
quality a ghoul is a spirit which takes fresh life from corpses, and we could certainly argue that
the Inspector s existence is a result of the girl s death. If he is not a real Inspector, what is he? A
clever impostor (but nonetheless human)? The personification of the social conscience the
characters all lack or suppress? A supernatural,
God like being (for he certainly

Analysis Of Gulliver s Travels By Jonathan Swift
Aldous Huxley once said, There are things known and there are things unknown, and in between
are the doors of perception (The Personal Path to Virtue 20). Perception is present in every aspect
of society, for humans decipher receptive actions into comprehensible and consolidated views of
the Earth around them. From art, to music, and even to literature, everyone has his or her own
perception, one that can change and develop dependent upon everyone s own vision. In the
novel, Gulliver s Travels by Jonathan Swift, the reader will find their perception of the themes
and the characters in the book drastically different in the beginning of the story than at the end.
When one first lays their hands on a copy of Gulliver s Travels, the ideas and themes they would
believe to be most obvious and important would include adventure, discovery and the development
of civilization. They would simply formulate these ideas from the title and cover of the novel.
However, as one reads the story and divulges into the deeper meaning of Gulliver and his travels, he
or she will find that the limits of human understanding and the individual comparisons of nature
versus society are much more present in the novel than are adventure and discovery. Change is the
underlining focus of this story. From the themes to the actions of the characters and even to the
motifs of the story, many facets of the story change from the first to the last page due to the
overwhelming significance of adventures that

Pearl Jam Vs. Ticketmaster
BACKGROUND: The case revolved around Pearl Jam, a famous Seattle based rock band, and
Ticket master Corporation, nation s premier ticket distribution company. The case described the
conflict between the two parties that led to an antitrust violation case against Ticketmaster. The
band advocated low priced tickets for its concerts and insisted Ticketmaster to lower their service
charges, thereby bringing down the ticket cost for its fans. ISSUE: As indicated from the case, Pearl
Jam filed a complaint alleging that Ticket Master was intending to monopolize the ticket service
industry, using its market dominance and power to charge exorbitant service charges. According to
the complaint, the service charges that Ticketmaster added to the tickets... Show more content on

In 1995, when the band decided to go for their independent tour, they were not able to attract big,
established promoters and to secure popular venues for their shows. Due to the issues such as
weather and security, Pearl Jam had to cancel several concerts. Similarly, Ticket master also lost a
huge business and was not able to secure summer Olympics contract due to the ongoing antitrust
investigation related to the case. Hence, the continued dysfunctional conflict created problems and
affected the performance of both the parties. The complaints launched by rock band were baseless
and not very accurate. According to the antitrust ruling, no significant evidence was found against
Ticketmaster. Ticket master did not form any monopoly as other competitors could avail the
opportunities to succeed with better organization. Similarly, the company did not either practice
anti competitive tactics as claimed by the band rather used the economies of scale to run their
business efficiently. Ticketmaster s kickbacks to promoters to ensure that shows take place was

we can, great. If we can t, that s fine.
After his announcement leaders around the world issued a joint statement that the United States
couldn t unilaterally renegotiate the agreement. The statement which came from France, Italy and
Germany said it cannot be renegotiated based on the request of a single party. Additionally, White
House Officials won t specify what parameters President Trump would accept in a new accord.
President Trump also announced that he would end the implementation of carbon reduction targets
previously set up by the Obama administration, which aimed to reduce emissions by 27% over the
next decade. Additionally, that the United States will stop all contributions to the United Nations
Green Climate Fund. Previously, President Trump said these contributions were costing the United
States a fortune. Through these measures, it has become clear that the Trump administration will
keep pushing to dismantle domestic climate policies.
Withdrawing from the agreement won t mean the end of all domestic efforts to address climate
change. It is now up to states, like New York and California to keep pursuing their own programs to
reduce emissions. Furthermore, the private sector is continuing to shift towards cleaner energy

Holden Caulfield Character Analysis
Many authors express themselves through their characters within their books. They create a
writing piece through their eyes of the world. They often reflect their own personal experiences
through a character. This makes the text more interesting to read, and easier to understand. A
reader can make connections to the story, if there are real world experiences within a character.
J.D Salinger s The Catcher in the Rye, serves as an example for this. Holden Caulfield, the main
character, is very opinionated and rebellious. Holden has a rough childhood, and experiences
many ups and downs. He has a hard time staying at one school, and staying out of trouble. J.D.
Salinger has many similarities in his life to Holden. Salinger uses many of his personal life
experiences to form Holden s character and personality. To begin with, The Catcher in the Rye
begins with Holden at a football game against Saxon Hall. Holden is getting kicked out of Pency
Prep, and leaving fencing equipment on the subway did not help. The dean had warned him
once before, but Holden did not care. He was flunking all of his classes except one, and failed to
bring them up. Holden does not like his roommate, Stradlater. Stradlater is a tall, handsome, fit,
and perfect on the outside guy but not so perfect in secret. Holden thinks Stradlater is a secret
slob, and a phony. Stradlater shaves his face with dirty razors and passes gas. This is why Holden
calls him a secret slob. Next, Stradlater takes out

Roles Of Women In Ancient Greek Literature
Ruby Brawner

Roles of Women in Ancient Greek Literature The roles of women in ancient times is undeniably
important. They were the center of the home and the center of the family. Family was most
important in these times, especially the fact that all men needed heirs, without women this would
not happen. They were cunning seductresses, obedient housewives, givers of life and the center of
all households. They were not given citizenship or had political power, but held power and
influence none the less. Women were not worthy of education and were meant to stay subservient.
They were thought of as worth less than a man, but where would men be without women? There
were also female gods or deities,

Outsourcing Research Paper
Throughout my paper, my point is to portray the effect of the outsourcing of American occupations
abroad. There are two strong arguments with outsourcing: one that accepts the handiness and
profits of the outsourcing and the other that energetically restricts outsourcing and focus on its
negatives. Government organizations accept that outsourcingmay decrease the expense of the
assembling of items and give administrations less expensive cost, and others feel that outsourcing
has triggered huge layoffs and loss of jobs. America needs to cease outsourcing due to the negative
effects it has on our country. Outsourcing takes occupations away from Americans, causes
considerably more economic issues, and can lessen the quality of materials.... Show more content on

The driving components for outsourcing are clear: lesser expenses all the way around. A machine
software engineer in India makes $5,880 to $11,000, while an American machine software engineer
wins in the middle of $60,000 and $80,000. American organizations stand to spare measures of cash
by outsourcing. Today, gauges of employment misfortune in the United Statespropose that in the
last ten years, between 400,000 to 500,000 data engineering preparing jobs have been outsourced.
While this speaks to a moderately little parcel of the United States work power of around 130
million laborers (Tyson), concerns over the loss of profoundly talented employees and expectations
that the outsourcing pattern will keep on growing have made outsourcing an imperative and
questionable subject. Unfortunately, the wave of outsourcing is going to continue in the United
States, and it is only going to get worse. A UC Berkeley s Haas School of Business study noted
that near 11 percent of all occupations in the United States are helpless to outsourcing. Further,
gauges demonstrate that outsourcing is going to be an ongoing Phenom, as Forrester Research
evaluates that by 2015, the United States will lose 3.3 million jobs to outsourcing. Different
assessments are higher, as Researchers Ashok Deo Bardhan and

The Article On Love, And Maybe Lose, A Foster Child By...
The article To Love, and Maybe Lose, a Foster Child by Maghan Moravcik Walbert relates to
marriage and family because it is about a child in a foster care system and a family trying to get
the child by going through court systems. Their biological son is very attached to the foster child
and sees him as his own sibling. The familybuys the foster child everything he needs for like his
birthday, Christmas, and first day of school clothing.
The foster child does not live with them but they would tell him how much they love and miss
him. They also have a great relationship with the foster child s biological parents even though
they do not want their son in their life and are not willing to raise him so strangers raise him.
They stated, On the day it became clear to me that my time with my foster son is likely coming to
an end, the bench under me was hard. The walls surrounding me were grand and white. The ceiling
above me was as high as that of a cathedral.

Oranges by Gary Soto Essay
Oranges
By Gary Soto
Gary Soto was born April 12, 1952, in Fresno, California to Mexican American parents. His
grandparents emigrated from Mexico during the Great Depression and found jobs as farm
laborers. Soto grew up poor in the San Joaquin Valley and learned that hard work pays off through
chores, such as moving lawns, picking grapes, painting houses, and washing cars.
When Gary was five his father died as the result of a factory accident, and his mother was left to
raise her three children with the help of her parents. Soto describes his family as an illiterate
family. They did not have books and were not encouraged to read. In fact, Gary did not start

Brightness shows how much power the orange actually has. The references in the story build up the
power of the orange.
Soto talks about sacrifice, and we all go through that. What we do to please other people. The
boy had to give up his orange because he didn t have enough money. He told his girlfriend that
she can chose any kind of candy found in the isle, and she chose a chocolate bar that cost a dime,
now the boy only had a nickel and a pair of oranges in his pocket. Instead of feeling embarrassed
and cheep in front of his new girl, the boy decided to put up the nickel and an orange on the
counter for the saleslady.
Oranges are rare in the winter and their encounter might be precious. They convey a powerful
feeling. Making fire in the hands represents that he is in love. That he feels God like, he feels tough
like he can do it all when he s around his girlfriend.
The tone of the poem is simple with broken down sentences. Adolescent love is simple much like
childhood love. There are the sweaty hands, heavy breathing, butterflies in the stomach, but when
kids fall in love, its not true love, it most likely is just a crush. The words that are used in the poem
are not complex but short and meaningful. When reading between the lines, and reading the poem
more than twice, it is much easier to put two and two together and have a better

Monologue Of Tamburlaine
The play opens in the court of the feeble Persian king Mycetes, where Tamburlaine is reported as
a daring thief who is said to have foolish dreams of empire. Tamburlaine appears first in the next
scene, accompanied by Zenocrate and her attendants whom he has captured, and by his
lieutenants. He is confident of his powers and his future conquests. When Zenocrate addresses
him hesitantly, My lord for so you do import he replies, I am a lord, for so my deeds shall prove
(p.9) thus announcing his conviction that nobility is a matter of acquirement and not of birth. The
whole speech expresses vaguely Tamburlaine s sense of the grandeur and dignity of his ambitions.

Tamburlaine does not see the gods as the defenders of the innocent or as the guardians of honour
and blessed majesty prayed to by his incapable enemies. Instead, they are the archetypes of the
restless passion for achievement which he represents. Tamburlaine believes that such an aspiration
is imposed on man by his very constitution:
Nature that framed us of four elements
Warring within our breasts for regiment,
Doth teach us all to have aspiring minds. (p.26)
The elements are fighting in man and the allusions to the forces of nature in violent conflict are
representative of this idea. The use of such images seems to be that man conforms to the order of
nature. For instance, Tamburlaine s description of the action of his army:
Even as when windy exhalations,
Fighting for passage, tilt within the earth. (p.9)
Keeping his kingly body in a cage,
That roofs of gold and sun bright palaces

As you can see replicators played a huge part in creating life. How did replicators lead to the first
cell though? If replicators are meant to replicate and reproduce how did they end up making a
living organism? The first cell is presumed to have arisen by the enclosure of self replicating RNA
in a membrane composed of phospholipids which are the principal components of cell
membranes. The process of replication lead to the first cell which is called LUCA (Last Universal

A lot of the time when a virus come into contact with the host or as we may know it, the cell, it
can insert its genetic material into its host, literally taking over the host s functions. Some viruses
may remain dormant inside host cells for long periods, causing no obvious change in their host
cells, but once stimulated new viruses are formed, self assemble, and burst out of the host cell,
killing the cell and going on to infect other cells. All this is just a constant battle between the host
and cell. Without a host cell, viruses cannot carry out their life sustaining functions or reproduce.
They cannot synthesize proteins, because they lack ribosomes and must use the ribosomes of their
host cells to translate viral messenger RNA into viral proteins. Viruses cannot generate or store
energy, but have to derive their energy, and all other metabolic functions, from the host cell.
Sometimes the virus will not be in the cell but outside functioning as coat for the protein. Viruses

cold, chickenpox, influenza, shingles, herpes, polio, rabies, ebola, hanta fever, and AIDS are

Comparison Of Alexander Mcqueen And Marc Jacobs
What do Coco Chanel, Yves Saint Laurent, Jean Paul Gaultier and Alexander McQueen have in
common? They are designers who have challenged ideas on gender norms. (Marcangell, pg.1)

Marriage And Arranged Marriages
So this topic that I have been wanting to address for awhile. I was talking to a friend the other
day about the whole dating aspect of BYU Idaho as well as just in the Mormon community. Now
my friend grew up outside of the church and so she has seen both the Mormon culture of dating
as well as the way that the world does it. Now she pointed out to me something that I never really
thought of before. She told me that it almost seems like we are so focused on the aspect of dating
and getting married because in our culture that is something that we strongly believe in because of
the covenants that we make with marriage. She said that we are in a sense having these arranged
type of marriages, in the sense that everyone around us is telling us to date this person or that
person or get married because it is a commandment and we are making these decisions not
because we truly love this person or we even truly believe that we want to get married, or even
fully understand the promises we will be making to that person and also to God. We aren t fully
making this decision because we truly believe that it is a good choice but because others around
us think so and to me that does seem a little bit like an arranged marriage.
I m not totally knocking arranged marriages because there are a lot of people out there who make
them work, even more than people who choose the person that they marry. The only thing I
disagree with arranged marriages is the fact that agency is taken out of marriage,

Essay about Lab 8, Mitosis and Meiosis Julie Lake November 8, 2012 BIO 111, C11 Online Villalpando, Shawn Lab 8 Title: Mitosis and Meiosis Exercise 1: Mitosis in Animal and Plant Cells Questions: A.) What is the purpose of mitosis? The purpose of mitosis is to create or produce more cells for a living organism. Mitosis occurs when genetic substance in the nucleus divides or separates in order to create more cells. Cytokinesis normally occurs next and the single cell develops into two separate cells. This same process continues to occur over and over creating more cells for an organism replacing old or dead cells. B.) What other term is commonly used in place of mitosis ? Nutrition and Health in Third World Countries Nutrition and Health: Underdeveloped and Developed Nations Na Tasha Slade Strayer University Nutrition and Health: Underdeveloped and Developed Nations Despite the vast research on nutrition and health, malnutrition is still a major fatality in this present day. Policymakers, social scientist and medical experts have expressed alarm about the growing problem. While most agree that the issue deserves attention, consensus dissolves around how to respond and resolve the problem. Malnourishment continues to be a primary health liability in developing nations such as Asia, sub Saharan Africa and Latin America. Unsafe water supplies are often contaminated with infectious agents, toxic chemicals, and radiological hazards. In 2000, the World Health Organization and UNICEF identified some 2.4 billion people who did not have basic sanitation facilities, and 1.1 billion people without a safe drinking water supply. (Wagner, 2009) Some communities experienced diarrhea, caused by a variety of parasites, viruses, and bacteria that infect people as a result of contaminated drinking water or poor hygiene. In India, more than 500,000 children die from diarrhea every year. Like other tropical diseases, when diarrhea does not kill, it weakens, leaving people more susceptible to other infections, such as tuberculosis and HIV. (Whitman, 2008). Lack of Prenatal and Postnatal Education Breastfeeding is the single most effective nutritional strategy for protecting infants against infections and diseases. Three mechanisms have been proposed by which human milk constituents protect the infant from infection. Two are based on the immunologic constituents of human milk and the third is its high nutrient value. (National Academy Press, 1992) In LDCs the health of many children are significantly impaired, sometimes permanently, by the lack of nutrition they received during the breastfeeding phase. Breastfeeding requires a mother to have a specific diet. In the industrialized countries of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. The Problem Of Conflict Mineral While the term conflict mineral can be used to refer to any mineral resource being exploited by a belligerent faction in order to perpetuate hostilities, it is most commonly associated with columbite tantalite, cassiterite, wolframite, and gold ore, collectively known as 3TG minerals.i These ores, used to produce tantalum, tin, tungsten and gold, respectively, comprise a multi billion dollar market fueled by the growing demand for electronics and other products related to the technology industry. The 3TG group is essentially vital in every modern electronic device: phones, computers, pacemakers, light bulbs, batteries, generators, planes, cars, everything.ii The issue with this industry is that these minerals are often harvested by a variety of military factions concentrated in Central Africa, then shipped across the porous border undeclared to Tanzania, Uganda, Burundi, Zambia, Zimbabwe, or Rwanda, smuggled to Africa s eastern coast, and finally shipped to smelting factories in Southeast Asia and the Indian sub continent.iii Once the minerals reach the smelting plant they are melted down with other shipments from around the world and any hope of identifying whether or not they were used to fund the growing number of human rights violations occurring in the Democratic Republic of the Congoand throughout Central Africa dissolves. As though this supply chain was not already complex and spanning over a myriad of legal jurisdictions each with their own issues, it is estimated ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As a small town lawyer in the South, he experienced many events that provided him with a clear view of families and communities. For this particular book, however, he gathered research that would provide insight to the justice system of Oklahoma and he found injustice that took the best years of a man s life. While reading several selections Grisham book, I conclude that he is definitely pro anti capital punishment. In an era where everyone is so concerned about the money, denying a defendant a reasonable amount of funding (to his public defender) for expert consultants and their testimonies could save thousands upon millions of dollars in wrongful prosecution lawsuits later. With the advent of DNA, many previously convicted men and women are being let out. Interestingly enough, DNA evidence isn t the ONLY thing that would have exonerated them, but no one would listen. One issue I think Grisham was trying to help people see is the fact that we should not believe what we THINK, it has to be what we KNOW. What is the harm in humane treatment? Yes, criminals should be kept from the public, but since the justice system is not perfect and will make mistakes they shouldn t be so self righteous about their treatment of those they deem unworthy. Ron s example was just one of many who, because they are not the smartest, most capable souls, they make stupid mistakes, their odd behaviors offend many and they are the first ones put under a microscope when something goes wrong. In light of recent events, the shooting at Sandy Hook elementary school, multiple bomb and shooting threats since then, as well as other crimes (NYC subway system) people tend to react in a negative way toward people they feel are a threat. Abbott talks about his injury when he was in his 20s and an oak tree fell on him, and paralyzed him from the waist down. You could see the emotion in his eyes, and his shaken voice when he was talking about this subject, and that it was a subject that was very sentimental to him. • 13. The Assassination of Jfk and His Accomplishments While He... The Assassination of JFK and his Accomplishments while he was in Office. The assassination of John Fitzgerald Kennedy remains a mystery to this day. Some argue that there is more than one shooter, I personally agree with this theory. Although his presidency was very short, he made great strides in giving the people what he promised. He most likely would have helped America in more ways than one and it would have been great to have seen what he would have accomplished. John Fitzgerald Kennedy was killed by Lee Harvey Oswald on November 22, 1963 in Dallas, Texas at the Daeley Plaza. On November 24, 1963 a man named Jack Ruby shot and killed Oswald while Oswald was being transported to another jail. Oswald was the only known person who ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He was in the marines so he had a great deal of skill in handling guns. He wanted to live in Russia, but he could not get his visa. When he lived in Dallas, Texas he openly expressed his views of communism by handing out leaflets. His views greatly conflicted with the views of Kennedy. For less than six months he worked for the Texas School Depository which is located near Daeley Plaza. The theory is the Oswald shot Kennedy from the sixth floor of the Depository and hid the gun there. When the gun was found and examined later, Oswald palm print was found on the barrel on the gun (Salisbury,1964). During all the chaos Oswald went home to get a pistol. He then returned to the Depository where he shot Officer Tippet when the officer approached to question him. He was arrested for killing Officer Tippet and it was not until later JFK 5 that he was linked to the assassination of Kennedy. He claimed he was innocent on the accounts of shooting both President Kennedy and Officer Tippet. On November 24, 1963 Oswald was shot and killed by Jack Ruby. There are theories that Ruby shot Oswald because Ruby didn t want Oswald selling him out if they were accomplices in the assassination (IMDb.com, Inc., 2008). He in addition wrote about the importance of understanding events from a global perspective, not just one country s point of view. Because of these two fundamental elements to his argument, we can assess events differently than before hand, finding out ways to take a step back and look at actions as they affect multiple nations simultaneously. Of these international events from 1870 1945, the Age of Imperialism, World War I , and the Great Depressionhad worldwide impacts on economic and social issues. In fact, many of the propositions Wilson put forward were not accepted, but the most accepted one however was the League of Nations, which was meant to secure peace. The Great Depression not only affected America, but the rest of the world as well. This global depression began in the United States in 1929 but would soon play an important role in why countries turned inward to economic independence and lead to the rise of communism. The 1920 s had Americans living in great prosperity. Consumers ruled the marketplace, buying as much as they could afford, even spending tomorrow s wages today. Companies were about to face the grim reality that they were producing more goods than they were able to sell. People simply did not have the money to buy all these products and everyone instead began to invest their money in the stock market. In October of 1929, the stock market collapsed in America which soon would lead to the domino effect in Europe. Since America no longer had the money they once did, they couldn t afford to continue making loans to Germany. At the treaty of Versailles, Germany was forced to pay war reparations, but their problem was that they clearly did not have the money to pay back all these countries for the damages caused in the war. America then gave loans to the Germans in order to pay both France and England. These two countries however were in debt to America for their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 15. Mental Illness And Its Effects On The Quality Of Life As medicine has advanced, so too has the quality of life. Although correlation does not imply causation and other factors are also responsible for the increase in the quality of life, there is no doubt that we have become better than ever at diagnosing and treating many ailments. Ethically, though, there may be problems with the process of diagnosing many diseases, particularly those that have psychological roots. The predicament arises because there are otherwise no notable physical signs (e.g. fever, rash, aches and pains) for many mental illnesses, as is the case for many pathological diseases. A specific illness fitting the criteria of no physical signs is depression. The statistics behind the disease are horrifying. As a mental health... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This paper attempts to argue that the latter statement is reasonable, and the ethics involved with over diagnosis lead to negative consequences. In my opinion, due to the loose definition of the disease, financial involvement of pharmaceutical companies and the relationship between access to drugs due to the ailment and drug addiction, the increase in diagnosis impacts the credibility of those who suffer from the debilitating disease and decreases the vote of confidence amongst those responsible for diagnosis. Traditional wisdom suggests that it s always better safe than sorry when it comes to treating diseases. This technique is often practiced so long as the different treatment options do no interfere with each other. For example, when the body is under attack of a bacterial infection, a regimen of antibiotics treat for any number of bacteria that may be attacking the body. Or in the case of cancers, it is always better to take part in a screening, even if the outcome is malignant. There is an obvious advantageous outcome from this procedure that leads to either peace of mind or proactive measures. When dealing with the complex and conscious organ of the brain, though, treatments are often harmful to the patient. Antidepressants are the most common form of treatment for depression. After we all get ready, then my sister and I opened presents and celebrated. I got clothes, sock slippers, jewelry, comb, and makeup. My sister and I are so thankful of what we got. After we opened the presents, we played a game. We played Carrom. Carrom is a board gamewhere there are 9 black coins, 9 white coins, 1 red coin, and a striker. You re trying to shoot the coins into the goal with a striker. So if I was white coins, I have to shoot all 8 white coins into the goal. Then there is 1 white coin and 1 red coin. So I have to shoot the red coin into the goal an if I make it, I have to shoot my white coin. If I make that, the game is over and I would win. If I made all 8 white coins and have to shoot the red into the goal and if I don t make the red coin into the goal, than I have to put that coin in the middle. Oh sorry honey, Mommy s got some important things to sort through at work today. Why Buyers Should Not Consider Purchasing A Home After increasing my own financial awareness and witnessing the financial journeys of others during the past recession, I find that boomerang buyers should not consider purchasing a home as their sole financial investment. Mortgages with ballooning payments mixed with hopes of future refinancing are a dangerous combination. These factors precipitated the last housing bubble and the eventual recession period. In order to learn from past behavior, home buyers should ensure that they habitually save for a rainy day fund because financial rainy days have proven to be cyclical. Analysis Of Gulliver s Travels By Jonathan Swift Aldous Huxley once said, There are things known and there are things unknown, and in between are the doors of perception (The Personal Path to Virtue 20). Perception is present in every aspect of society, for humans decipher receptive actions into comprehensible and consolidated views of the Earth around them. From art, to music, and even to literature, everyone has his or her own perception, one that can change and develop dependent upon everyone s own vision. In the novel, Gulliver s Travels by Jonathan Swift, the reader will find their perception of the themes and the characters in the book drastically different in the beginning of the story than at the end. When one first lays their hands on a copy of Gulliver s Travels, the ideas and themes they would believe to be most obvious and important would include adventure, discovery and the development of civilization. They would simply formulate these ideas from the title and cover of the novel. However, as one reads the story and divulges into the deeper meaning of Gulliver and his travels, he or she will find that the limits of human understanding and the individual comparisons of nature versus society are much more present in the novel than are adventure and discovery. They often reflect their own personal experiences through a character. This makes the text more interesting to read, and easier to understand.
