Cadillac Ad
My consumer analysis will focus on the Cadillac ad. The Consumer buyer behavior is complex
and in order to affect how customers think and act marketers must understand the what s, when s,
how s, and why s of buyer behavior. Though this is not an easy task and it must be tackled through
a series of steps. The first step is to understand the why s of buyer behavior. This is done through
the analysis of the influencing characteristics that will affect consumers decision process. There are
fifteen characteristics that influence the buyer s behavior, indeed they all play a role the most
important ones impacting the purchase of the Cadillac in the Ad are Culture, Personality and Self
Concept, and Age and Life Cycle.
Culture is perhaps the most established characteristic in the Ad as it exhibits the traditional
American Dream culture of achievement and success. According to the marketing director of
Cadillac, this commercials audience was not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

individuals with comparable traits. The Ad takes place in a modern opulent house with a large
swimming pool portraying the life of a successful person. Since brands attract individuals with
similar personality traits it makes it clear that the car is for crazy driven hard working believers
thus if people believe of themselves as being driven and hardworking they should compensate
themselves with a luxury car because they have earned it. According to the text, it is important for

Analysis Of Yiyun Li s A Thousand Years Of Good Prayers
Yiyun Li s A Thousand Years of Good Prayers has a recurring theme among its protagonists.
Several characters have not met certain emotional needs which leaves them searching for ways to
meet these needs wherever possible. Oftentimes, characters enter a one sided relationship and give
themselves completely to a person with nothing in return because it fulfills whatever needs the
character has. These relationships are most evident in Extra and A Thousand Years of Good Prayers
.
In Extra, Granny Lin s emotional deficit comes from her lack of relationships throughout her life.
Her whole life she was never married, never had any children, and cooped up in a factory all day.
After Granny lin was forced to retire, Auntie Wang arranged... Show more content on

The one sidedness of the relationship is physical as well. Granny Lin looks out for Kang by
supplying him with socks to save him embarrassment (Li 19).
The way Granny Lin describes her relationship with Kang also shows how she has been deprived
of romantic love her whole life. She wonders if this is the love she missed in her younger years,
hand and hand with a dear boy and in the closing lines of the story she calls her time with Kang her
brief love story (Li 18, 22).
While I concede that Granny Lin s relationship with Kang is problematic given the age
difference, I contend that, knowing what the reader knows about Granny Lin s lonely past, the
relationship takes on a new light. The life Granny Lin led prior to her factory retirement left her
emotionally starved and put her romantic and emotional desires in a state of dormancy. These
buried and dormant desires were awoken by Old Tang, the object around which her feelings
were able to manifest. After Tang s death, those feelings may have left Granny Lin feeling even
more empty because now she was aware of them but had nobody to love. Her relationship with
Kang arose because they were both the most vulnerable in the school. She was vulnerable due to
her emotional and romantic cavities, while Kang was vulnerable because of his familial issues.
Some might call Granny Lin s love for Kang predatory, but it comes

Three Pane Model
A Brief Note on Open Economy ISLM Model (Three Paned Model)
Utility for Business Managers: Firms resort to macroeconomic analysis to make rational judgments
about the effects of global events or policy shocks on the economy and thereby on the business
environment. But such analysis is often laden with possibilities for logical missteps. The Three
Pane model (open economy IS/LM model) is discussed here as a tool for explaining key
relationships in the economy while avoiding the missteps encountered in macroeconomic analysis.
What is open economy macroeconomics?
Macroeconomic analysis helps firms to explore the interrelationships among a whole host of
markets, while microeconomics focuses on variables like price and quantity, amp; cost ... Show

Therefore, the net capital outflow decreases, which is shown by the fall in CF from CFo to
CF1. Likewise, if there is a fall in the interest rate from ro to r2, capital outflow increases, and
capital inflow decreases, leading to an increase in net capital outflow as indicated by an increase
in CF to CF2. The Capital Outflow (CF) curve is therefore, downward sloping. This means that,
higher domestic rates of interest are associated with lower net capital outflows, and lower domestic
rates of interest are associated with higher net capital outflows.
As mentioned earlier, the three paned model plots the net export schedule (NX) with respect to
the exchange rate, E. E is defined as the foreign currency per unit of domestic currency. If we
drop the equilibrium amount of capital flows CFo from pane II to the third pane we get the
equilibrium amount of net exports, NXo, which is determined by the intersection of the
perpendicular dropped from the CF schedule with the NX schedule. This also gives the equilibrium
nominal exchange rate, Eo. [Here, we are assuming price levels at home and abroad as constant,
therefore, nominal and real exchange rates can be considered to be proportional. i.e., they won t be
different].
How do we explain the model in simple economic terms?
In a closed economy, the rate of interest decided by the RBI defines the simultaneous equilibrium in
the product/goods market and the

Argumentative Essay On Overfishing
Abstract: Overfishing is the process of fishing to the point where more fish are caught than the
population can replace through natural reproduction. It may seem profitable to quickly grab as
much fish as you can, but it is extremely harmful to the marine ecosystem. The results of this have
lasting impacts on the balance of life in the oceans, and the social and economic well being of the
coastal communities who depend on fishfor their way of life. Fortunately, there are efforts being
done to help prevent this dangerous activity. New Zealand has noticeably led the charge to ending
overfishing. Some ways countries have been limiting fishingactivities are: marine protected areas,
and fishing quotas. These are more of the notable examples,... Show more content on

If you think about how big that number is, it should tell you how much of a problem this is. The
same study found that 32 percent are classified as overexploited, depleted or recovering,
meaning that they are reproducing far less than they are potentially able to. This percentage is
the highest that has been seen in the decades of studies, indicating that the problem of
overfishing is becoming more and more severe. And at this point, it seems the problem will only
get worse, unless we make severe changes. However, this is much easier said than done, billions
of people rely on fish for protein, and fishing is the principal livelihood for millions of people
around the world. For centuries, our seas and oceans have been considered a limitless source of
food. However, increasing fishing efforts over the last 50 years because of the depleting fish
populations, has led to unsustainable fishing practices that are pushing many fish stocks to the
point of collapse. Many important commercial fish populations (like the Atlantic bluefin tuna) have
suffered a decline to the point where their survival as a species is extremely threatened. The more
we hunt and kill these fish, the less likely the fish will be able to reproduce and begin to thrive
again. Target fishing of top

Palliative Sedation And Terminal Weaning For Refractory...
Palliative Sedation and Terminal Weaning for Refractory Symptoms Death is one of the most
significant life events people experience. Most people want to die a peaceful death and desire the
same outcome for their family and friends. Medical advancements have resulted in people living
longer lives with chronic illnesses. Despite the advancements in medicine and the available
treatments of today, sometimes the patient is still unable to escape intolerable suffering; the patient
s quality of life diminishes. Symptoms that are unrelieved after all treatment options have been

Second, the patient needs to have refractory symptoms (Knight Espinosa, 2010). A third
requirement is a Do Not Resuscitate order (Knight Espinosa, 2010). Lastly, the patient must be
expected to die within the next few hours or days (Knight Espinosa, 2010). Informed consent must
be obtained either by the patient, or if the patient is unable to do so, a legal surrogate before
palliative sedation is initiated (Knight Espinosa, 2010). Knight and Espinosa recommended
receiving a second opinion as to whether the patient is an appropriate candidate for palliative
sedation. Terminal weaning is when mechanical ventilation is discontinued for a patient expected to
die without its support (Knight Espinosa, 2010). One of the most common methods of
discontinuation is through slowly reducing the fraction of inspired oxygen (Knight Espinosa,
2010). Terminal extubation is the removal of the endotracheal tube, and this can be done during or
after a terminal weaning process (Knight Espinosa, 2010, p. 527). Removal of life supporting
interventions is the cause of most deaths in critical care units (Knight Espinosa, 2010). Knight and
Espinosa (2010) discussed palliative sedation and terminal weaning in the same chapter because the
two topics go together. Ethical Considerations Nursing Several important ethical considerations

Roberts sense of reality confuses the narrator because he could not understand how a blind man
could have such appreciation for the things he could not see. After a few drinks and a little
marijuana, the narrator finds himself exploring the limits of Roberts sight and helps Robert
visualize a cathedral. even though the narrator is beginning to be a little more comfortable with
Robert he still cannot open his mind up enough to be able to fully describe the cathedrals to him.
He says, The truth is, cathedrals don t mean anything special to me. Nothing. Cathedrals. They
re something to look at on late night TV. (page 45). It was then the true true lesson began;
Robert went on to the floor next to the narrator and they began to draw the cathedral together.
Robert had the narrator close his eyes so he can try to understand and visualize while drawing
the cathedrals. The narrator was finally able to get out of his own mind and stop being so
critical of others and open up to the new possibilities of what he can learn from others. In the
end, with his eyes closed, not at all focused on what he has been drawing but rather on something
he can t comprehend, the narrator feels free I was in my house. I knew that. But I didn t feel like I
was inside anything. (page46). The narrator was no longer trapped and isolated in his own mind

Developing A Strong Teacher Student Relationship
In the field of education, no matter what position you carry relationships are the key. Relationship
can be defined as, an emotional or other connection between people (dictionary.com). During an
academic school year, as well as throughout the duration of a teacher s career as an educator, it is
important to build teacher student, teacher parent, teacher administrator, and teacher teacher
relationships. Not only does a teacher have to build these relationships but he/she has to make sure
that they are positive and effective relationships. Building student s associations with educators has
essential, positive and enduring ramifications for both student s scholastic and social advancement

It is a methodology that grasps our unpredictable characters, histories, and the stories we bring that
serve to adapt the subjects we educate (Goodman). Separating boundaries, encouraging positive
correspondence in the middle of educators and parents, and having drawn in families will prompt
better results for students. In our occupied day juggling papers, lesson arranging and dealing with
an alternate number of students we can without much of a stretch overlook the gathering that
could loan huge in our charge as educators. There are many principles that we can put into place
to build effective teacher parent relationships. We as educators can learn the parent s names and
how they prefer to be addressed. This seems like a simple step, but it is a step that can easily be
overlooked. Let the parent s know your intentions; let them know that you need to collaborate with
them, that you value their support and anticipate cooperation. Communication is very important
key factor. Letting parents know what is going on, what the students are learning and what they
have accomplished will give them an eye inside the classroom. As an educator, your administrator
will be your back bone. More often than not, we will depend on administrators thus it would be
wise to develop healthy relationships

Examples Of Dishonesty In Othello
Honesty and dishonesty are two of the most important features in Othello. Even though there is a
small amount of honesty that is truly present throughout the play this is applied to the character
Iago, who also strikes as the most dishonest in Othello. This is partly because the other characters
seem so trust writhing in each other. That they never think someone so close and dear to them
would deceive them. Which makes Iagocapable of influencing, brainwashing, and molding the
characters to his satisfaction. That he needs for the dreadful revenge he has planed against Othello.

tells Roderigo of only how a fool acts honest and advises putting himself before honesty, which
he does. The other characters begin to see Iago as an honest trustworthy man, particularly
Othello. He is a character that holds people to there honest and he never thinks twice that
someone would be dishonest with him. Especially someone that is so close to him like Iago.
Cassio has claimed that he has never met a Florentine so sympathetic and honest that is defining
Othello. Desdemona expresses to Iago s Wife Emily that he is an honest man and that Othello

Gang Life By Robert J. Duran Essay
The book, Gang Life in Two Cities by Robert J. DurГЎn to put simply is about the gang life in
Denver, CO and Ogden, UT. DurГЎn wrote this book to share his research findings. When DurГЎn
had to move to Huntsville, UT (but went to school in Ogden) he found himself immersed in an
area where gangs were becoming popular. DurГЎn, an ex gangmember himself was curious on
how and why gangs operate. He found this research important, because he saw firsthand how
society had a role in the formation of gangs. Duran felt that it needed to be brought to light what he
witnessed while being a gang member himself and when he conducted his research. This book was
different than other literature that had been produced, because Duran was able to get closer and
inspect the deeper characteristics of gang life and gang members themselves. This is something that
other researchers in the field are typically not able to accomplish. He took on the perspective of
investigating what role racial oppression had with the development of gangs. His perspective and
his ex gang membership background allowed him to be more trusted by all the gang members that
he interviewed for this research. As mentioned previously Duran did conduct interviews as part of
his data collection, but this wasn t his full methodology. Duran used a multimethodological
approach termed ethnography. Ethnography method allowed Duran to gather historical analysis,

Civil Rights Movement During The Civil War
Civil Rights Movement With the winning of the Civil War still in the minds of many,
conducting interviews of previous slaves intrigued those wanting to know what it was like
being a slave. With the interview there is a look inside the life of, a woman still in her
childhood, what her life was like, and how she dealt with being a slave. The life of a slave was
no easy feat, but with perseverance many made it to the wars end, although life still has many
hardships for the Freedman today. The interview was given to Betty Powers by the New Deals
Federal Writer s Project in 1936, quite a few years after the slaves were freed. These interviews
were given to give a look into the life of a slave, what they went through, and the pains and turmoil
that white people had caused. This interview just proved how terrible and inhumane slavery was,
and why it needed to be ended, although it caused the south to completely change its ways in the
Reconstruction Era. In the textbook there were views from both the North and the South on
slavery and its end. This article is on the view of the slaves and the North, believing it was the right
thing to end slavery, and that the color of your skin doesn t mean you aren t human. On the South s
view, they believed the opposite that African Americans were below the whites, and were meant for
harsh labor. The treatment of African Americans thus leads to Reverend Henry McNeal Turner to

Honest Iago of Shakespeare s Othello Essay

To most of the world William Shakespeare is recognized as the greatest dramatist in history. His
plays have been performed for centuries through various interpretations. Shakespeare s vast
knowledge, and writing style made his works interesting for both the intellectual, and the illiterate.
One of these styles is the use of motifs, which is seen extensively in Othello. An important example
that runs throughout Othello, is Iago s honesty. This motif gave existence to Shakespeare s perfect

This will encourage Desdemona to see Iago as a confidant, and eventually she asks Iago for his
advice when she experiences trouble with her husband.
Cassio s trust in Iago stems not only from his impeccable reputation of sincerity, but again from
Othello s influence. Othello simply states; Iago is most honest. [Act II, scene iii], when
conversing with Cassio. Once more, if Othello feels this way, then Cassio, who admires Othello
and follows his leadership, will also believe that Iago is an honest man. When Iago pretends to
help Cassio, he comments; I never knew a Florentine more kind and honest , [Act III, scene I].
Iago s supposed honesty is ironically, also a result of his own lying, by making statements that help
him sustain his reputation. When he explains Roderigo and Cassio s fight to Othello, he claims to
do it with a heavy heart, because he does not want to cause problems for Cassio. However, he
feels he must tell the truth; I had rather have this tongue cut from my mouth than it should do

this, others are led to believe that the guilt of not speaking the truth is

Essay about A Stroke
A stroke is a type of cardiovascular disease that affects the cerebral arteries, those blood vessels
that carry blood to the brain. A stroke occurs when one of those blood vessels in the brain is
obstructed or ruptures flooding the brain with blood. Depriving blood and oxygen to the brain
results in those immediate cells death, causing the brain not to function properly. Once parts of the
brain stop functioning, it can directly affect the areas of the body controlled (1). A strokecan be

ischemic stroke. This occurs when a bloodclot (cerebral thrombosis) blocks a blood vessel in the

(1). In many cases, strokes can be diagnosed, prevented and treatable. Symptoms of a stroke can
occur quickly and may cause: sudden numbness, tingling, or weakness, or paralysis in your face,
arm, or leg, especially on one side of your body. Sudden: vision changes, trouble speaking
(slurred speech), confusion or trouble understanding simple statements, problems with walking
or balance, severe headache. It s recommended to call a doctor or 911 even if these symptoms

stroke has occurred, it is important the appropriate medicine be given. If the wrong medicine were
given to treat a stroke victim, it could result in death. Treatment for an ischemic stroke will focus

The Power Of Perceptions In Robert Frost s Poetry
Discoveries can have a profound impact on an individual that can result in renewed perspectives of
themselves and the world.
The emotional responses conveyed in texts position individuals to re evaluate their perceptions of
themselves and their world, which in turn provoke intellectual and spiritual discoveries and or in
turn allow us to gain a shift in perspective.
The discoveries embedded within Robert Frost s poems, Fire and Ice and A Tuft of Flowers ,
coupled with the poem Mirror by Sylvia Plath, explore the emotive power of the search for human
connection and desire to find meaning in an impermanent universe.
Frost s anecdotal poem Fire and Ice, challenges the perceptions of responders, positioning them to
consider the significance of character and behaviour as defining forces in our world. Fire and ice
metaphorically alludes to the power of human relationships and their ability to be potentially
destructive. The rhyme of twice , ice and suffice have ominous overtones, suggesting that the failure
of one force will only ensure the operation of another. The responder is challenged by the
personification of the natural forces, fire and ice, in invoking the end of the world, as it creates a
tangible sense of fear which is reinforced through the personas suggestion that either option can
potentially suffice causing them to morbidly contemplate their options. The ultimate insignificance
of man in the all powerful world is discovered through,
but if I had to perish twice. Frost s personal reflection through the use of personal pronoun
I adds a morbid tone by personalising death.
Through his simplistically deceptive form, Frost creates a dichotomy, juxtaposing the paradoxical
elements fire and ice which are symbolic of associated character traits, ice representing
deliberation, whereas fire is connotated as desire and passion. Moreover, fire and ice represent the
two sides of the human mind, ice as a metaphorical representation of rationality or intellect, and fire
symbolic of emotion. Furthermore, Frost s change in tense from tasted to know suggests that his
current familiarity of hate is the consequence of experiencing desire, thus he is exposed to the
ability of the contradictory emotions

Beowulf As A Reflection Of Anglo-Saxon Hero

2 October 2017 Beowulf as a Reflection of Anglo Saxon Hero
Every epic hero expresses certain heroic characteristics. The epic poem Beowulf by Seamus
Heaney describes the most heroic man of the Anglo Saxon times. Beowulf is the hero. He shows
that he is a great man by always placing other things before his own needs. He is important and
needed by his people and is known by many as a strong, powerful and a helpful hero. As the time
changes the qualities of an Anglo saxon hero have never changed.
There are different heroic characteristics, in which Beowulf demonstrates. The first of these
characteristics is honor. Honor is when Beowulf is willing to put his own life in danger for the
benefit of helping his people. Beowulf went to the land of the Danes to kill Grendel, because
Grendel is a monster who tries to eat humans. Beowulf fought Grendel because he wanted to
help out the Geats. Beowulf felt as if it was the right thing to do since he had been successful in
past life. Also, Beowulf kills Grendel because he was attacking Heorot. Hrothgar is another
character that has encourage beowulf throughout his life, Go on, dear Beowulf, do everything
you said you would when you were still young and vowed you would never let your name and
fame be dimmed while you lived. Your deeds are famous, so stay resolute, my lord, defend your
life now with the whole of your strength (Beowulf 2662 2667). Beowulf is doing everything that
any other hero would want to accomplish. Beowulf has been able and also willing to protect his
people and also willing to go into danger no matter of possible outcomes. Beowulf explains The
fact it, Unferth if you were truly as keen or courageous as you claim to be Grendel would never
have got away with such unchecked atrocity, attacks on your king, Havoc in Heorot and horrors
everywhere (Beowulf 590 594). When Beowulf speaks these words, he shows his courage, and
displays himself as the Anglo Saxon warrior that he is. Death for a warrior is honorable, and
courage must be shown through deeds,

Singer s Principle Of Equality
Singer s principle of equality is the equal, impartial consideration of all like interests (Singer, p.
20). It is a non factual principle that presents an ideal, normative approach, rather than reflecting
how the world actually looks. It relates to racism as it is the neglect of the interests of a race, or
the prioritisation of a racethat leads to racist policies (Study Guide, p. 63). Principle of equality
would require the interests are weighed impartially, and seeing as weighing interests based on race
is as arbitrary as hair colour or names and therefore irrelevant, it would eliminate much blatant
racism. Singer (p. 27)holds even if different averages in IQ among different races were found, it
wouldn t result in different treatment as intelligence doesn t affect basic human interests. This
doesn t rule all forms of racism, interests based on beliefs and statements, or attitudes and emotions
are still considered (Study guide, p. 58).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

beings and all possible beings within the world. On the other hand, prior existence view of
utilitarianism is an approach that only cares about the utility of those that exist or will exist
regardless of our actions (Study Guide, p. 71). Total view utilitarianism (TVU) would advocate
overpopulation (as it increases overall utility), whereas prior existence utilitarian (PEU) would
completely ignore future generations. Consider the current discussion of the government forcing
contraception on women on welfare. Ignore right based approaches of bodily autonomy. The idea
would be to avoid these women being a burden and diverting resources away from existing
children and to seek work/education. PUV would consider that overall utility is higher as the
resources aren t stretched, yet a TVU would disagree, they would see no difference between
contraceptive use and killing one of the children painlessly because potential of

Rent Control Of The United States

Rent Control in the United States
Rent control is a law that places a price ceiling on the amount of rent a landlord can charge a
tenant. People from middle and lower income brackets tend to benefit from rent control, while
people from the upper income brackets do not. The whole purpose as to why rent control exists is
so that tenants from the lower income groups are not exploited by greedy landlords through
government intervention. Landlords who own property in expensive cities like San Francisco are
not able to charge market rates of rent as that would displace many poor people. While rent control
was created with good intentions by the government, rent control is overall more harmful to the
economy than good. Rent control goes back to the days of World War I. During the years following
the war, the United States was experiencing a large shortage of housing. John W. Willis, author of
the article Short History of Rent Control Laws wrote, Housing shortages, however, are not new, and
it should not be surprising therefore to find that modern attempts to intervene in the relationship
between landlord and tenant find precedents going back hundreds of years (Willis 54). The war
was a reason because the wives of the soldiers acquired jobs in manufacturing plants, factories, and
other places. This caused a surge in population, which then increased the demand for housing
accommodations near places of

Descriptive Essay On My House
A bang on my door interrupts my quiet slumber and jolts my body into a sitting position. I rub
my blurry eyes and swing my legs over the side of my bed, trying to move forwards. My foot gets
caught in the fluffy blanket and I tumble to the ground. Gahh! My head hits my side table when I
bolt into a sittingposition. My hand reaches up and rubs my head whilst my other hand balances
my glasses on the bridge of my nose. Come downstairs and get dinner! My cousin s rough,
irritable voice comes through my door. I ll be down in a minute. My voice comes out quiet and
hoarse, making it sound like I need a large glass of water. I open my closet doors and scan over
the contents before picking out a pair of boots, a white, chunky sweater, a black scarf, and some
thick jeans. With a click, my door unlocks and swings open to reveal the bathroom door in front
of me. The cold hardwood floor makes my feet tingle whilst I cross into the even colder bathroom.
Although the room is cold, I feel warm inside with excitement while I change into my clothing and
flash an indeterminate smile at the mirror. A second click sounds when I open the door and head
to the large kitchen. I almost make it without any accidents only to break the streak by tripping on
air and face planting into the maroon colored wood. Mara, one of my two bratty kin, remarks, Can
you not go 5 minutes without hurting yourself? Her statement is met with a half hearted laugh and

The Homeless Of Our Society
At this very moment I m sure that no one in this speech class would imagine being homeless
within the next month or two. However, sometimes life can be unpredictable, and for many
people the unexpected strikes out of nowhere. Contrary to what most people assume, those that
are homeless are usually just ordinary people going through a difficult stage in life. The
homeless of our society from my perspective are overlooked to an extent of rotting the core of
our communities. A person is deserving of shelter, food, water and other commodities as long as
they are of value to society. Those who are less similar to the majority are moderately
comprehended while the majority is organized in resemblance to a chronological list where the
amount success determines the amount of burdens one would carry. Yet to fall out of this
majority could be as simple as skin color, age or even height are factors that seemingly repel you
from becoming part of the majority. Taking these things into deep consideration I decided to do
two things for my outside event; I spoke with my uncle who currently has nowhere to live and I
traveled downtown to Sulzbacher Center Homeless for the day. My mother has requested that my
uncle remain anonymous, so with respect to her we shall address him as Dynamite his nickname.
Dynamite was incarcerated since the year 1998 and released in early 2014. I personally can only

Evaluate the Role of Chemical Transmitters in Explaining Behavioural Disorders
All behaviour is provided by the nervous system from a blinking eye to talking. Everything we do
relies on the integration of numerous processes within the body, which is controlled by the nervous
system (Atkinson et al. 1990). It wasn t until the late 19th Century with the development of stronger
magnifying lenses and staining techniques that the nervous system could be looked at in detail
(Wickens, 2005). The integrating units of the nervous system are specialized cells called neurons.
There are approximately 1 billion neurons in a human brain. What makes them more astonishing is
that each single neuron is connected with around 10,000 others (Wickens, ... Show more content on

Furthermore Parkinson s disease, which is associated with a depletion of dopamine display
behaviours characteristic of schizophrenia when given too much L DOPA, a dopamine stimulant
(Gershon, Angrist, and Shopsin, 1977 as cited in Kalat, 1992). In addition if schizophrenics are
given drugs such as L DOPA their symptoms are heightened. (Kalat, 1992).
On the other hand there are problems with the dopamine hypothesis, as it suggests that
schizophrenics have an excess of dopamine in their brains. Deakin, 1988, as cites in Wickens,
2005, found little evidence for this following post mortems of schizophrenics. However a
number of studies have found that schizophrenics have an increase of dopamine D 2 receptors
(Jaskiw and Kleinman, 1988 as cited in Wickens, 2005) therefore it may be that increased uptake
by receptors is responsible rather than an excess of dopamine. This gives rise to cause and effect,
as is the schizophrenia caused by an increased number of receptors or is the increased number of
receptors a result of antipsychotic drugs.
The main criticism of an imbalance of neurotransmitters being the cause of schizophrenia is the
finding that antipsychotics block receptors within a day or two, although it takes several weeks for
them to take full affect (Wickens, 2005). This suggests that the key factor in improvement is not the

Jesse Owens full name was James Cleveland Owens. Jesse was born on September 12, 1913 in
Oakville, Alabama and died on March 31, 1980 in Tuscan, Arizona. As a kid he was expected to
work in cotton fields even when he was sick. He was sick with chronic bronchial congestion and
pneumonia. While he was in the fields Jesse had to carry 100 lbs. a day. On Sundays he had to
go to church and on Sunday nights he went to bed as soon as the sun went down. He went to bed
that early because he had to get up at 4:00 in the morning to work the fields. When Jesse turned 9

things he didn t like about racing horses was that he was away from family. He wasn t sure if it
was participating in athletic events or making a spectacle of himself. Finally Jesse quit and went
back to Cleveland. In Cleveland he went to work at the playground. One night he was visited by
someone from Australia. He and Jesse talked about the Olympics. Around nine o clock the
Australian left. Jesse moved to Detroit. His mother died and soon after his father did too.
Detroit and Cleveland had made bad memories for Jesse. He moved to Detroit for a new start.
Detroit didn t work out so well for him. So he thought Chicago, Illinois was going to be a good
place to start a business. In 1956 Jesse was appointed Ambassador of Sport for the United States.
With this he was offered to travel around the world too teach kids good sportsmanship and

Youth Incarceration Research Paper
The Incarceration of Juveniles It is estimated that on any given day there are 80,000 youth
incarcerated in the United States, which is more than any other developed country in the
world(Townes, 1). Incarcerating youth before exploring other options is a social injustice. Judges
rather give short term solutions than permanently fix the problem. To understand why this is a
social injustice, four pieces of information must be known: the causes, who it affects and how,
who s responsible, and solutions in place. Incarcerating youth affects them in many different ways.
One way is the psychiatric damage prisons cause. Being in prison means that the child is not able
to be with their family and community, which can lead to feelings of loneliness and depression.
Studies show that incarcerated youth die from suicide at a rate two to three times more than non
incarcerated youths (Polish,1). In addition to mental health effects, incarceration at a young age
affects the person s future by lowering their chances of finding a job. When sentenced to a
correctional facility, the child s education is stopped and they become 38 times more likely to
become a repeat offender(Koehler,1). With no education and a... Show more content on

Friday Night Lights Should Be Banned In Public Schools
The story Friday Night Lights takes place in a small town called Odessa, Texas in the year of 1988.
After every year of football they hang a picture of each player who made All State. This reminds
the rest of them what glory looks like. Friday Night Lights gives a perspective of how every small
town high schools are and is very popular for it, however it should be banned in our public schools
because it contains profanity, racism terms, and sexually situations; the results of reading this book
can cause more teenagers or even children to use offensive language, cause more racism than there
already is, and be sexual at a young age. Despite that students now use profanity in their public
schools and even more out of school, this could cause more children and teens to use the offensive
language around their peers.
As Jerrod McDougal states in the book, I ve got no idea what I want to do. I ve got no idea what
school I want to go to. My SAT won t be worth shit. And no football schools want me, (Bissinger
308). When McDougal says this, it represented the confusion of about 90 other football players.
After every year Permian football is over; two teenage boys have the opportunity to have a shot
for college football. However, the others just have the memories to look back on. Accordingly to
TIME it states, The researchers found that on an average teen novels contain 38 instances of
profanity, which translates to nearly seven curse words per hour of reading, (Sifferlin).

The Development Of Drivers For Virtual Machines
I. Introduction to the topic This paper will be analyzing the development of drivers for virtual
machines, as well as how virtual machines access host hardware. Topics covered will include what
interest what interest I/O driver virtualization holds for the computer information science field, a
general overview of virtualization, I/O hardware virtualization, and virtualization of I/O drivers.
II. Why the topic is of interest
Due to increased efficiency in Central Processing Units, most computers today are not used to their
full potential. In fact, time interrupt handlers are issued as wait time, thus eating up CPU clock
cycles. Virtualization gave the opportunity for multiple x86 Operating Systems to run on one
machine. As CPU s were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
CPU, memory and resources are divided amongst the OSes by the Virtual Machine Monitors, where
the Virtual Machine resides. The Virtual Machine is a software abstraction that will behave as
though it is a complete machine, with virtual hardware resources, RAM, and I/O hardware [1].
There are two main approaches to virtualization: hosted architecture, and hypervisor architecture. In
hosted architecture, the encapsulation layer is installed in the form of an application on the
Operating System, while the hypervisor architecture involves the installing of the encapsulation
layer, or hypervisor, on a clean system, which gives direct access to the system s resources [2].
The issue of virtualization is that the virtualized OSes do not have full access to hardware
resources and memory. They expect to execute within a high privilege level. The VMM is run in
this high layer, while the OS is moved to the user level, above the application level. This change
in privilege requires costly saving and restoring, and system calls can lead to some CPU cache
loss. Instead, a translation look aside buffer, or TLB, is used upon VMM entry and exit to cache
physical and virtual address translation [3]. Because different privilege levels also effect semantics,
binary translation is used to make up for the move. Three possibilities exist to allow virtualization:
full virtualization with binary translation,

Afterwards, Homais is forced to listen to the reproaches of the doctor for devising the operation.
Homais was suffering as he listened to this sermon, and he hid his discomfort behind a courtier s
smile, needing to appease Monsieur Carnivet, whose prescriptions sometimes came as far as
Yonville (Bovary 169). The doctor reprimands Homais for attempting to fix a situation that was
perfectly well. Hippolyte was obviously better off before the surgery. In this incident, Homais
selfishly sacrifices his dignity in order to protect the more serious interests of his business. He
abides the insults and swallows his pride in order to appease the doctor. Afterwards, to comfort his
conscience, he relishes all blame and displaces the fault on Charles inadequacy as a doctor. Clearly,
Homais interests lies with protecting himself and not the well being of Hippolyte, whom he has
ruined.
In a similar incident, Homais attempts to cure the sight of a blind beggar. In an act of blind
confidence and pretentiousness he assures the blind beggar that he can restore his sight, the
apothecary guaranteed that he would cure the man himself, with an antiphlogiston ointment of his
own creation, and he gave his address (Bovary 280). However, like the incident with Hippolyte,
Homais utterly fails and only succeeds in aggravating the beggar s condition. To hide his failure

Kurt Voyer Defined The Psychology Of Teamwork
Benjamin Voyer defined the psychology of teamwork in the article. The study of teamwork was
originated with the development of social psychology and interest on how groups behave,
predominantly as against another group. There were two groups that were discussed in the
article that contributed to the study of teamwork. The first group is in group as described as being
a member of a group who share a particular interest or activity and defines who you are. The second
group was described as a group outside one s own with which one feels no sense of identity. This
second group is termed as out group . Hellen Keller s clichГ© enunciates that we can do so little if
we are alone and we can do so much if we will work as a team.
According to the writer, things can go wrong because power plays a big role in a team. In health
care for example, quality and safety are the two big priorities. However, flaws still arise. Typically,
the complications arise because of the problems in the team, not with the people s ability. There was
a situation wherein a misunderstanding between the surgeon and the assistant was narrated in the
article. There was a misunderstanding due to the fact that the surgeon had just transferred from the
other team. It simply tells us that teamwork was not applied in this situation. The author gave
emphasis on the importance of developing a team mind. The three C s were stated in the article
pertaining to teamwork. One of which is collaboration that

and his The Met Opera played a role as the leader of this innovation. The new way of increasing
revenue that was introduced by Peter Gelb brings a new idea for this industry to keep alive in
the 21st century with no doubt. Internally, like other companies focus on human resources, to

Water Drinking Water Quality Standards
Drinking water, also known as potable water or improved drinking water is safe enough for
drinking and food preparation. Globally, in 2012, 89% of people had access to water suitable for
drinking. Nearly 4 billion had access to tap water while another 2.3 billion had access to wells or
public taps. The amount of drinking waterrequired is variable. For those working in a hot climate,
up to 16 liters a day may be required. Infants are about 70% to 80% water while the elderly are
around 45%.
Typically in developed countries, tap water meets drinking water quality standards, even though
only a small proportion is actually consumed or used in food preparation. Other typical uses
include washing, toilets, and irrigation. Greywater may also be used for toilets or irrigation. Its
use for irrigation however may be associated with risks. The British Dietetic Association
recommends 1.8 litres. However, various reviews of the evidence performed in 2002 and 2008
could not find any solid scientific evidence recommending eight glasses of water per day. In the
United States, the reference daily intake for total water intake is 3.7 litres per day for human
males older than 18, and 2.7 L/day for human females older than 18 which includes drinking water,
water in beverages, and water contained in food. An individual s thirst provides a better guide for
how much water they require rather than a specific, fixed quantity. Water generated from the
biochemical metabolism of nutrients provides a

The Expectation Management Of A Parcel Delivery Company
Introduction
This paper will look into the Expectation Management of a parcel delivery company and how to
properly reduce the level of service in order to redefine the company s business model. It will
look at the promises the company makes and if they are realistic and how they will follow through,
the choices it offers it customers and if the too are realistic or sustainable. The intent is to create a
tiered value offering based on the customers communicated service criteria. Based on what a
company learns from the communication of what the customer expects, the company should be able
to define its customer service business model.

In order to make a realistic promise the company must know what the customer expects and its
limitations with providing that level of service or if that is unrealistic request. The company must
communicate with the customer on what their expectations are, so that the company could then
evaluate if that is a feasible feat for the company to achieve, or if the expectations of the customer
are unrealistic. The higher the level of expectation the customer brings, will determine their
personal evaluation of service (Zeithaml, Bitner, Gremler, 2013, p 429); and the higher level of
service quality they expect to received. In order for the customer to believe they received high
quality of service their expectations must be met. In pursuance of fulfilling the customer
expectation of service received the customer must be afforded options or choices related to the
service received.
Offer Choices Offering choices to customers, gives the customer more belief that they have
control of the level of service they will receive, and that, that level of service will be met. With a
parcel shipping company, the higher the price the more the customer will expects to have their
level of service achieved. In marketing, customers relate time/money and speed/quality; if a
customer perceives that they are paying more for time or quality they

Auto Mechanic Research Paper
The ground trembles as the champ rolls in the shop, so loud the windows start to dance. The
threads on the tick black tires are beginning to tear apart and are covered in oil. Engine so blazing

auto mechanicjob is, to figure out what is wrong with a car and resolve that problem. Either
working on gas or diesel, a mechanic needs requirements to enter into this field. The skills for a

Macbeth Opening Scene Analysis
The opening scene of macbeth is a dark atmosphere, it is set in a dessert place, in the middle of a
storm. In act one scene one the only characters that seem to appear in this scene are the three
witches. The witches also seem to set the mood for the play. The atmosphere in the first act
influences the whole play because it seems as dark and evil.
Knowing things like witchcraft and supernatural adds to our understanding of the play that there is
a supernatural darkness. It also is giving us an image of things that are unnatural that are accuring
in the play. Also gives us the knowledge that the process of kingship is not natural.
In the beginning macbeth is is seen as a nobleman, who is a fearless warrior. However the same
man seems to want to kill people and overthrow the king. This character must hide his true thoughts
from her beloved ones and peers.
Macbeth and lady macbeth both change throughout the course of the play. At the beginning of
the play macbeth is is a respected man who is loyal to the king. Later after he meets the three
witches he changes because of the prophecy that the witches tell him about. He is to kill the king
be then he he whimps out so lady macbeth kills the king. Because of macbeth whimping out is
now feels guilt. By the end of the play he has become evil and is destined for the power. He is
then killed at the end of the play. Lady macbeth at the beginning she is evil, cruel, heartless, and a
cold dark woman. However towards the end of the

Critical Thought And Popular Culture
Mid America Christian University has become my home in the four short months I have been
here. It was a scary and tough decision for me to attend MACU but I wouldn t want it any other
way. Critical thought and popular culture was a required course to take and to be honest, I thought
it was going to be a super boring class. But, it taught me a lot about myself and made me examine
my calling in life a little deeperthan before. In turn, I thoroughly enjoyed this course. Critical
thoughtand popular culture taught me a lot about who I am. These realizations came from class
discussions, learning my strengths, and even a little bitfrom reading Unlikely Disciple. For one, I

I have been able to really figure out in depth what my calling is and what the next step in life
might hold for me. During one of our discussions, we discussed homosexuality and how we
should treat those who live that lifestyle. I came to the conclusion that although I strongly
disagree with that way of living, I do not think that it is our job or our position to try and make
them live the way we do. That was something that I went back and forth with ever since I moved
to Mississippi. I moved at the end of my junior year, and the only person that talked to me was
Colten Nugent, and Colten was gay. We became super close and he knew my view on his
decisions but not once did I feel like it was my place to tell him to stop. He believed in the Lord
and I think that things like addiction and homosexuality are things that the Lord has to work
through with the person, not people. I discovered through this class that this is a social issue
that I am passionate about. Although, I do still believe that we should set a good example of
what being a Christian should be. This was a topic that was very apparent throughout the book
by Kevin Roose, The Unlikely Disciple. I think my biggest pet peeve when it comes to religion is
when people call themselves Christians but do everything in their power to act otherwise. I always
knew that my heart was built around kids, but MACU has helped shape the exact group of kids

Chemicals in Our Tap Water Earth, the only known planet with life, seems to revolve around
many things in todays society. Money, land, precious metal, all seems to make the world go
around, but in all reality, Earth would just be another planet without one sole resource, water. The
food we eat and the air we breathe all seem to be dependent. Over the centuries, we have learned
much about the molecular structure, physical and chemical properties, and so on. We have been
able to harness its great power, and we have made the consumption a much quicker process
through the idea of city water or tap water. The concept of tap water has been around since about

A choice few companies will eventually obtain a monopoly on life, by instilling the thought of
buying water. Water is our lifeline, and our umbilical cord to the living world is being
contaminated with impurities that we consume every day. There are a choice few men in this
nation that seem to manage what is available to the masses, the same goes for our water. The
DEPA, or the Department of Environmental Protection Agency overseas additives in our water on
a national level. The DEPA is part of the Presidents cabinet, meaning he goes to the DEPA for
advice on anything their agency oversees. The public drinking water systems regulated by EPA,
and delegated states and tribes, provide drinking water to 90 percent of Americans (DEPA). So
what exactly does the department regulate? Depending on the amount of water in a public water
system, they allow a certain amount of toxins per gallon of water. The EPA allows a certain
amount of toxins because the cost for the mass making, distribution, and use of pure water would
be too high. Likewise, it is nearly impossible to have such large piping systems and distribution and
offer a completely clean, unadulterated water. While there are standards in place for the maximum
amount of contaminants allowed in water, none of these levels are at zero. Meaning, that there are
dangerous toxins in the

Robotic Surgery Benefits Springfield Hospital
The world of robotics has dramatically expanded in the past hundred years, leading to increased
explorations into whether robots are largely beneficial or detrimental to society. There are those
who say robotics can be used to achieve the impossible, to perfect existing methods and narrow
down the potential for risk, or to make life easier. On the other hand, there are plenty of cons that
are a cause for concern when it comes to robots that are just now coming to the light, previously
never having been imagined. Both in the medical field and in the commercial delivery business,
robotic technology is typically showcased as being immensely beneficial when utilized; however,
as it becomes increasingly implemented in these fields, it is being... Show more content on

It also offers patients greatly improved clinical outcomes with both reduced pain and a quicker
recovery period. Effectively, what Stirling is asserting is that overall, clinical outcomes for
patients have been greatly improved due to reduced pain, less scarring and blood loss, and quicker
recovery times. While Stirling provides ample persuasive evidence for his claim that DRSS is
largely successful, I would include additional substantiation. He left out invaluable statistics that are
provided on DRSS s main website daVinci Surgery, such as the fact that DRSS has been used
successfully in about 1.5 million surgeries. Furthermore, daVinci Surgery informs that their robotic
surgical system is currently the number one choice for women afflicted with gynecologic cancer,
and it is also used in 4 out of 5 prostatectomy surgeries. These statistics combined with Stirling s
article provide the ultimate proof that robots have truly become integrated in the medical field with
great success. Despite the tremendous success in implementing robots in the medical field, there is
a considerable risk and cause for concern when it comes to their technical security. Medical devices
are consistently released to the public with little to no security control ingrained in the software.

The Gladiator VS. History Essay
I m sure that many people have seen the movie the, Gladiator and thought that most if not all of
it was true. Sadly this movie paints a picture that falls short of fact and leans more towards
fiction. Winning 5 academy awards it is a hit with the audience but with historians a bust. This is
mainly due to the inconsistencies revolving around character portrayals, events, and even
characters that don t exist. I m sure that this is because the truth wouldn t fair as well as the
movie did. Moreover the, Gladiator which is a winner of many academy awards does not win
much in the depiction of characters and events. Gladiator begins in 180 A.D in the winter time on a
battlefield in Germania. The first error is around the character Caesar... Show more content on

Another mistake within this movie was showing Marcus Aurelis as only having 2 children, Lucilla
and Commodus, but Marcus Aurelius actually had 13 children (Gill N.S.). Leaving off with the
opening of this movie the biggest historical mistake overall revolves around the leading
character and hero of this movie, Maximus. This is because he is entirely made up, he did not
exist. So every event or action that involves him is false. Lucilla and he never had relations
when they were younger, he didn t kill anyone, and he was not supposed to be the protector of
Rome like they showed Marcus Aurelis wanting. Although Maximus may be a compilation of
people who were real. For instance the man who did command the battle in the opening scene
which most likely occured in 179 was Taruttiens Paternus. Also how he longed to be home and
his family are from Claudius Pompeianus who was a military officer whose career resembled
Maximus s (Ward). A short while after the opening scene we are transported to North African
Zucchabar where yet more inaccuracies occur. The first being the misconception from the movie
that Gladiator games had been banned by Maximus Aurelis. This is stated by the character
Proximo who purchased Maximus to be one of his gladiators. He described how he was forced to
make a living due to the games being banned. Also the Coliseum is supposed to have been
reopened by Commodus to host games to honor his father. Commodus does this

Although the contestants are separated from the rest of society during the taping of the show, once

Should Car Manufacturers Wear Seatbelt
CRASH! You just got into an accident because you were on your phone and not paying
attention, there is damage to your vehicle and theirs, guess what? You killed yourself by flying
through the windshield and hitting them, basically turning into a flying projectile, all because you
didn t wear a seatbelt.
Should car manufacturers create a system that prevents vehicles from operating without the seatbelt
being latched? Or is it up to the operaters to ensure there own safety? That is a very easy question
for me to answer.
Car manufacturers need to create a system for seatbelts so that all vehicle operaters have ensured
safety. If you do not wear a seatbelt when you are operating a vehicle you are a huge liability and
danger to everyone around you and also to yourself. Lets say for example you re driving on i 35 and
the car in front of you stops without any warning what so ever and you crash into them, you will
go flying out of the window and may hurt the driver in the other vehicle, like I said before you re a

Comparing Dante s Inferno And Shakespeare s Play King Lear
Dante s Inferno and Shakespeare s play King Lear have many similar motifs within them that
allude to human suffering. One such motif is as long as you can find the words to describe how
bad a situation is, things can get worse. We see this concept in Dante s Inferno when Dante the
Pilgrim is traveling deeper into the depths of hell and he exclaims, If I had words grating and
crude enough that really could describe this horrid hole...I could squeeze out the juice of my
memories to the last drop. But I don t have these words, and so I am reluctant to begin. While
travelling through hell, Dante has seen the worst humanity has to offer, and the farther he goes,
the less he can describe exactly what he is seeing, much like how in our lives, the deeper we
travel within ourselves, the less we are able to describe what we are feeling. In King Lear, we
see the same problem outlined through the fool when he warns Lear, And worse I may be yet.
The worse is not so long as we can say, This is the worst. Both the Inferno and King Lear, explore
the deepest parts of humanity in order to demonstrate that we may not always be able to explain
what is within us because what is within us, is oftentimes unrecognizable to ourselves, so much so
that even our language cannot put forth the words. Another motif found in both works is the matter
of blindness, and when we are blind to the consequences of sin, it is much easier to jump into the
unknown. In King Lear, Gloucester accepts death as a

prevalent in our society. Majority of the snacks that we get in movie theaters are junk foods such
as butter pop corns and sodas, these eating habits are hard to override. The best approach of our
Healthy Concession Stand is to provide healthy snacks and drinks in a movie theater with using

Our major pass time from our busy life, is going for a movie in our small city Concord. Even
through begin a nutrition student I used to eat a lot from snack bar inside the theater. But often I
used to be sick because eating this junk foods such as butter popcorn and soda. Sad thing about
this is there is only a limited options and foods from outside is not permitted. There is no variety
in this theater. Our aim is to change the normal snacking pattern seen in movie theater. Our plan is
provide healthy snacks and drinks in theater using ingredients from local produce. This helps in
improving or change the snacking habit or pattern among the customers in the theater. Usage of
local farm produce ingredients we are able to give good organic foods to the customers. This helps
the customers as well as the local farms. By using seasonal ingredients it helps in cost effective. We
are also planning to provide small talks about nutritious food choices and quizzes or games inside
the theater for free. Thereby, it also help the customers to take something to home also about the
nutrition. During the summer holidays the government of city concord have a Summer Kids
Movie Series , in which children of age between five to 10 years can watch movie for 3 to 5
dollars in the same above theater. We believe that summer time is best time to start up our
company in this theater since it s the holiday season. In Concord there is only three mainly
theaters and our plan is bring up our Healthy Concession Stand inside Brenden Theater in concord
downtown. As we grow I would like to increase our business to rest of the 2 theaters too. Concord
is a largest city in Contra Costa County (www.cityofconcord.org). At the 2010 census, the city had a

  • 2. Cadillac Ad My consumer analysis will focus on the Cadillac ad. The Consumer buyer behavior is complex and in order to affect how customers think and act marketers must understand the what s, when s, how s, and why s of buyer behavior. Though this is not an easy task and it must be tackled through a series of steps. The first step is to understand the why s of buyer behavior. This is done through the analysis of the influencing characteristics that will affect consumers decision process. There are fifteen characteristics that influence the buyer s behavior, indeed they all play a role the most important ones impacting the purchase of the Cadillac in the Ad are Culture, Personality and Self Concept, and Age and Life Cycle. Culture is perhaps the most established characteristic in the Ad as it exhibits the traditional American Dream culture of achievement and success. According to the marketing director of Cadillac, this commercials audience was not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Cadillac is an American motor car division that markets luxury and innovative vehicles around the world. Cadillac has thrived in fabricating and establishing Cadillacs brand personality with traits such as bold, innovative, and prestige luxury vehicles. This Ad is attempting to influence individuals with comparable traits. The Ad takes place in a modern opulent house with a large swimming pool portraying the life of a successful person. Since brands attract individuals with similar personality traits it makes it clear that the car is for crazy driven hard working believers thus if people believe of themselves as being driven and hardworking they should compensate themselves with a luxury car because they have earned it. • 3. Analysis Of Yiyun Li s A Thousand Years Of Good Prayers Yiyun Li s A Thousand Years of Good Prayers has a recurring theme among its protagonists. Several characters have not met certain emotional needs which leaves them searching for ways to meet these needs wherever possible. Oftentimes, characters enter a one sided relationship and give themselves completely to a person with nothing in return because it fulfills whatever needs the character has. These relationships are most evident in Extra and A Thousand Years of Good Prayers . In Extra, Granny Lin s emotional deficit comes from her lack of relationships throughout her life. Her whole life she was never married, never had any children, and cooped up in a factory all day. After Granny lin was forced to retire, Auntie Wang arranged... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The one sidedness of the relationship is physical as well. Granny Lin looks out for Kang by supplying him with socks to save him embarrassment (Li 19). The way Granny Lin describes her relationship with Kang also shows how she has been deprived of romantic love her whole life. She wonders if this is the love she missed in her younger years, hand and hand with a dear boy and in the closing lines of the story she calls her time with Kang her brief love story (Li 18, 22). While I concede that Granny Lin s relationship with Kang is problematic given the age difference, I contend that, knowing what the reader knows about Granny Lin s lonely past, the relationship takes on a new light. The life Granny Lin led prior to her factory retirement left her emotionally starved and put her romantic and emotional desires in a state of dormancy. These buried and dormant desires were awoken by Old Tang, the object around which her feelings were able to manifest. After Tang s death, those feelings may have left Granny Lin feeling even more empty because now she was aware of them but had nobody to love. Her relationship with Kang arose because they were both the most vulnerable in the school. She was vulnerable due to her emotional and romantic cavities, while Kang was vulnerable because of his familial issues. Some might call Granny Lin s love for Kang predatory, but it comes ... • 4. Three Pane Model A Brief Note on Open Economy ISLM Model (Three Paned Model) Utility for Business Managers: Firms resort to macroeconomic analysis to make rational judgments about the effects of global events or policy shocks on the economy and thereby on the business environment. But such analysis is often laden with possibilities for logical missteps. The Three Pane model (open economy IS/LM model) is discussed here as a tool for explaining key relationships in the economy while avoiding the missteps encountered in macroeconomic analysis. What is open economy macroeconomics? Macroeconomic analysis helps firms to explore the interrelationships among a whole host of markets, while microeconomics focuses on variables like price and quantity, amp; cost ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore, the net capital outflow decreases, which is shown by the fall in CF from CFo to CF1. Likewise, if there is a fall in the interest rate from ro to r2, capital outflow increases, and capital inflow decreases, leading to an increase in net capital outflow as indicated by an increase in CF to CF2. The Capital Outflow (CF) curve is therefore, downward sloping. This means that, higher domestic rates of interest are associated with lower net capital outflows, and lower domestic rates of interest are associated with higher net capital outflows. As mentioned earlier, the three paned model plots the net export schedule (NX) with respect to the exchange rate, E. E is defined as the foreign currency per unit of domestic currency. If we drop the equilibrium amount of capital flows CFo from pane II to the third pane we get the equilibrium amount of net exports, NXo, which is determined by the intersection of the perpendicular dropped from the CF schedule with the NX schedule. This also gives the equilibrium nominal exchange rate, Eo. [Here, we are assuming price levels at home and abroad as constant, therefore, nominal and real exchange rates can be considered to be proportional. i.e., they won t be different]. How do we explain the model in simple economic terms? In a closed economy, the rate of interest decided by the RBI defines the simultaneous equilibrium in the product/goods market and the ... • 5. Argumentative Essay On Overfishing Abstract: Overfishing is the process of fishing to the point where more fish are caught than the population can replace through natural reproduction. It may seem profitable to quickly grab as much fish as you can, but it is extremely harmful to the marine ecosystem. The results of this have lasting impacts on the balance of life in the oceans, and the social and economic well being of the coastal communities who depend on fishfor their way of life. Fortunately, there are efforts being done to help prevent this dangerous activity. New Zealand has noticeably led the charge to ending overfishing. Some ways countries have been limiting fishingactivities are: marine protected areas, and fishing quotas. These are more of the notable examples,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If you think about how big that number is, it should tell you how much of a problem this is. The same study found that 32 percent are classified as overexploited, depleted or recovering, meaning that they are reproducing far less than they are potentially able to. This percentage is the highest that has been seen in the decades of studies, indicating that the problem of overfishing is becoming more and more severe. And at this point, it seems the problem will only get worse, unless we make severe changes. However, this is much easier said than done, billions of people rely on fish for protein, and fishing is the principal livelihood for millions of people around the world. For centuries, our seas and oceans have been considered a limitless source of food. However, increasing fishing efforts over the last 50 years because of the depleting fish populations, has led to unsustainable fishing practices that are pushing many fish stocks to the point of collapse. Many important commercial fish populations (like the Atlantic bluefin tuna) have suffered a decline to the point where their survival as a species is extremely threatened. The more we hunt and kill these fish, the less likely the fish will be able to reproduce and begin to thrive again. Target fishing of top ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Most people want to die a peaceful death and desire the same outcome for their family and friends. Medical advancements have resulted in people living longer lives with chronic illnesses. Despite the advancements in medicine and the available treatments of today, sometimes the patient is still unable to escape intolerable suffering; the patient s quality of life diminishes. Second, the patient needs to have refractory symptoms (Knight Espinosa, 2010). A third requirement is a Do Not Resuscitate order (Knight Espinosa, 2010). Lastly, the patient must be expected to die within the next few hours or days (Knight Espinosa, 2010). Informed consent must be obtained either by the patient, or if the patient is unable to do so, a legal surrogate before palliative sedation is initiated (Knight Espinosa, 2010). Knight and Espinosa recommended receiving a second opinion as to whether the patient is an appropriate candidate for palliative sedation. Terminal weaning is when mechanical ventilation is discontinued for a patient expected to die without its support (Knight Espinosa, 2010). One of the most common methods of discontinuation is through slowly reducing the fraction of inspired oxygen (Knight Espinosa, 2010). Terminal extubation is the removal of the endotracheal tube, and this can be done during or after a terminal weaning process (Knight Espinosa, 2010, p. 527). Removal of life supporting interventions is the cause of most deaths in critical care units (Knight Espinosa, 2010). Knight and Espinosa (2010) discussed palliative sedation and terminal weaning in the same chapter because the two topics go together. It was then the true true lesson began; Robert went on to the floor next to the narrator and they began to draw the cathedral together. Robert had the narrator close his eyes so he can try to understand and visualize while drawing the cathedrals. The narrator was finally able to get out of his own mind and stop being so critical of others and open up to the new possibilities of what he can learn from others. In the end, with his eyes closed, not at all focused on what he has been drawing but rather on something he can t comprehend, the narrator feels free I was in my house. I knew that. • 20. The Power Of Perceptions In Robert Frost s Poetry Discoveries can have a profound impact on an individual that can result in renewed perspectives of themselves and the world. The emotional responses conveyed in texts position individuals to re evaluate their perceptions of themselves and their world, which in turn provoke intellectual and spiritual discoveries and or in turn allow us to gain a shift in perspective. The discoveries embedded within Robert Frost s poems, Fire and Ice and A Tuft of Flowers , coupled with the poem Mirror by Sylvia Plath, explore the emotive power of the search for human connection and desire to find meaning in an impermanent universe. Frost s anecdotal poem Fire and Ice, challenges the perceptions of responders, positioning them to consider the significance of character and behaviour as defining forces in our world. Fire and ice metaphorically alludes to the power of human relationships and their ability to be potentially destructive. The rhyme of twice , ice and suffice have ominous overtones, suggesting that the failure of one force will only ensure the operation of another. The responder is challenged by the personification of the natural forces, fire and ice, in invoking the end of the world, as it creates a tangible sense of fear which is reinforced through the personas suggestion that either option can potentially suffice causing them to morbidly contemplate their options. The ultimate insignificance of man in the all powerful world is discovered through, but if I had to perish twice. Frost s personal reflection through the use of personal pronoun I adds a morbid tone by personalising death. Through his simplistically deceptive form, Frost creates a dichotomy, juxtaposing the paradoxical elements fire and ice which are symbolic of associated character traits, ice representing deliberation, whereas fire is connotated as desire and passion. Moreover, fire and ice represent the two sides of the human mind, ice as a metaphorical representation of rationality or intellect, and fire symbolic of emotion. Furthermore, Frost s change in tense from tasted to know suggests that his current familiarity of hate is the consequence of experiencing desire, thus he is exposed to the ability of the contradictory emotions ... • 26. Rent Control Of The United States Philippe Bouchereau Prof. Kaycea Campbell Economics 2 11 May 2016 Rent Control in the United States Rent control is a law that places a price ceiling on the amount of rent a landlord can charge a tenant. People from middle and lower income brackets tend to benefit from rent control, while people from the upper income brackets do not. The whole purpose as to why rent control exists is so that tenants from the lower income groups are not exploited by greedy landlords through government intervention. Landlords who own property in expensive cities like San Francisco are not able to charge market rates of rent as that would displace many poor people. While rent control was created with good intentions by the government, rent control is overall more harmful to the economy than good. Rent control goes back to the days of World War I. During the years following the war, the United States was experiencing a large shortage of housing. John W. Willis, author of the article Short History of Rent Control Laws wrote, Housing shortages, however, are not new, and it should not be surprising therefore to find that modern attempts to intervene in the relationship between landlord and tenant find precedents going back hundreds of years (Willis 54). Youth Incarceration Research Paper The Incarceration of Juveniles It is estimated that on any given day there are 80,000 youth incarcerated in the United States, which is more than any other developed country in the world(Townes, 1). Incarcerating youth before exploring other options is a social injustice. Judges rather give short term solutions than permanently fix the problem. To understand why this is a social injustice, four pieces of information must be known: the causes, who it affects and how, who s responsible, and solutions in place. Incarcerating youth affects them in many different ways. One way is the psychiatric damage prisons cause. Being in prison means that the child is not able to be with their family and community, which can lead to feelings of loneliness and depression. Studies show that incarcerated youth die from suicide at a rate two to three times more than non incarcerated youths (Polish,1). In addition to mental health effects, incarceration at a young age affects the person s future by lowering their chances of finding a job. When sentenced to a correctional facility, the child s education is stopped and they become 38 times more likely to become a repeat offender(Koehler,1). With no education and a... As CPU s were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... CPU, memory and resources are divided amongst the OSes by the Virtual Machine Monitors, where the Virtual Machine resides. The Virtual Machine is a software abstraction that will behave as though it is a complete machine, with virtual hardware resources, RAM, and I/O hardware [1]. There are two main approaches to virtualization: hosted architecture, and hypervisor architecture. In hosted architecture, the encapsulation layer is installed in the form of an application on the Operating System, while the hypervisor architecture involves the installing of the encapsulation layer, or hypervisor, on a clean system, which gives direct access to the system s resources [2]. The issue of virtualization is that the virtualized OSes do not have full access to hardware resources and memory. They expect to execute within a high privilege level. The VMM is run in this high layer, while the OS is moved to the user level, above the application level. This change in privilege requires costly saving and restoring, and system calls can lead to some CPU cache loss. Instead, a translation look aside buffer, or TLB, is used upon VMM entry and exit to cache physical and virtual address translation [3]. Because different privilege levels also effect semantics, binary translation is used to make up for the move. Three possibilities exist to allow virtualization: full virtualization with binary translation, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

You killed yourself by flying through the windshield and hitting them, basically turning into a flying projectile, all because you didn t wear a seatbelt. Should car manufacturers create a system that prevents vehicles from operating without the seatbelt being latched? Or is it up to the operaters to ensure there own safety? That is a very easy question for me to answer. Car manufacturers need to create a system for seatbelts so that all vehicle operaters have ensured safety. If you do not wear a seatbelt when you are operating a vehicle you are a huge liability and danger to everyone around you and also to yourself. Lets say for example you re driving on i 35 and the car in front of you stops without any warning what so ever and you crash into them, you will go flying out of the window and may hurt the driver in the other vehicle, like I said before you re a flying prejectile waiting to kill anybody in the way. ... • 51. Comparing Dante s Inferno And Shakespeare s Play King Lear Dante s Inferno and Shakespeare s play King Lear have many similar motifs within them that allude to human suffering. One such motif is as long as you can find the words to describe how bad a situation is, things can get worse. We see this concept in Dante s Inferno when Dante the Pilgrim is traveling deeper into the depths of hell and he exclaims, If I had words grating and crude enough that really could describe this horrid hole...I could squeeze out the juice of my memories to the last drop. But I don t have these words, and so I am reluctant to begin. While travelling through hell, Dante has seen the worst humanity has to offer, and the farther he goes, the less he can describe exactly what he is seeing, much like how in our lives, the deeper we travel within ourselves, the less we are able to describe what we are feeling. In King Lear, we see the same problem outlined through the fool when he warns Lear, And worse I may be yet. The worse is not so long as we can say, This is the worst. Both the Inferno and King Lear, explore the deepest parts of humanity in order to demonstrate that we may not always be able to explain what is within us because what is within us, is oftentimes unrecognizable to ourselves, so much so that even our language cannot put forth the words. Another motif found in both works is the matter of blindness, and when we are blind to the consequences of sin, it is much easier to jump into the unknown. In King Lear, Gloucester accepts death as a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
