Dengue and
its Awareness
As everybody knows:
“Health is wealth”.
“Good health and good sense are two of life’s greatest
blessings” but now a day some dangerous diseases
effects on health very much like one of its example is
Dengue Fever.
Dengue is a mosquito-borne viral infection. The infection
causes flu-like illness, and occasionally develops into a
potentially lethal complication called severe dengue. The
global incidence of dengue has grown dramatically in recent
decades. About half of the world's population is now at risk.
Dengue:
Distribution trends:
•Before 1970, only 9 countries had experienced
severe dengue epidemics.
• The disease is now endemic in more than 100
countries in the WHO regions of Africa, the
Americas, the Eastern Mediterranean, South-East
Asia and the Western Pacific.
•The America, South-East Asia and Western Pacific
regions are the most seriously affected.
• Each year an estimated 100 millions cases of
dengue occur world wide.
• The global incidence of dengue has grown
dramatically in recent decades.
Year Affected People
2008 1.2 million
2016 2.34 million
2016 Only in America 2.35 million
1020 Diagnosed
1181 Deaths
Dengue Cases:
Dengue Virus:
There are four strains of dengue virus and are referred to
as DEN-1 , DEN-2 , DEN-3 , DEN- 4.
 The dengue virus is transmitted from a sick person to a
healthy person by the bite of a female mosquito, Aedes.
 It is not a contagious disease.
 The virus consist of RNA and proteins.
 The virus seems to have no destruction effect on the
mosquito.
The Aedes aegypti mosquito is the primary vector of dengue.
The virus is transmitted to humans through the bites of infected
female mosquitoes. After virus incubation for 4–10 days, an
infected mosquito is capable of transmitting the virus for the
rest of its life.
Infected symptomatic or asymptomatic humans are the main
carriers and multipliers of the virus, serving as a source of the
virus for uninfected mosquitoes. Patients who are already
infected with the dengue virus can transmit the infection (for
4–5 days; maximum via Aedes mosquitoes after their first
symptoms appear.
Transmission:
Dengue
Mosquito:
The adult dengue mosquito is of dark brown and
black in color. It has white spots on the dorsal side
of the body. It is approximately 2-10 mm long. The
male mosquito can only feed on plant nectar
whereas the female mosquito in addition to plant
nectar can suck human blood, without which it
cannot lay eggs.
Life Cycle of Aedes Mosquito
Symptoms:
 Severe abdominal pain.
 Persistent Vomiting.
 Vomit with blood.
 Drowsiness or irritability.
 Swollen lymph node.
 Prostration.
 Diarrhea.
 Reduced white blood cells and Platelets.
Types of Fever:
 Break Bone Fever.
 Dengue Hemorrhagic
Fever. ( DHF )
Treatment:
There is no specific treatment for dengue
fever. But some pain killers, home
remedies , and Quranic verses are
available to diagnose dengue.
Preventive
Measures:
At Personal
Level:
 Protect your body from the mosquito bites. For this purpose one
should wear long sleeved shirts and long trousers.
 Apply mosquito repellents on the body.
 Use bed nets, which may be treated with insecticides.
 Spray insecticide in every corner of your house.
 Use coils and mats to avoid mosquito bites.
 Use electric appliances for killing mosquitoes.
 The doors and windows must have screens of fine mesh.
At Community Level:
 Mosquito breeding sides should be eliminated e.g
empty bottles , packing materials , plates, cups, utensils,
discarded toys, buckets, empty drums , flower pots ,
shopping bags etc.
 Leaking taps should be repaired.
 Water tank should be covered properly.
 Broken roof tops and floors where water can
accumulate should also be repaired.
Importance Of Cleanliness In Islam:
Among all other things it teaches, comes cleanliness and hygiene. Allah
Almighty is the cleanest of clean and purest of the pure, also evident from His
direct words on different places in the book of the Quran, such as:
‘’At-Taubah [9:108] Never stand you therein. Verily, the mosque whose
foundation was laid from the first day on piety is more worthy that you stand
therein (to pray). In it are men who love to clean and to purify themselves.
And Allâh loves those who make themselves clean and pure (i.e. who clean
their private parts with dust [which has the cleansing properties of soap] and
water from urine and stools, after answering the call of nature].’’
This verse is a proof more than enough how particular Allah Almighty and
Islam is about cleanliness and purification. Not only it hints that Allah likes
clean and pure people.
Treatment Of Dengue Fever From Holy Quran:
Though contemporary medical science fails to provide any significant
cure from this dangerous (even lethal) fever, resorting teaching of
Quran does offer us relief from such an ailment.
For Example;
Recite ‘’Ya - moheimeno ‘’
&
Surah Fatihah
The “Durood Shareef” needs to be read before and after the 11-time
recitation of the verses.
All the family members are advised to read through these verses in one
combine sitting, blowing it on their bodies and water which should be
given to patients for drinking. In addition, you should sprinkle this water
all through your home.
There are a lot of home remedies to prevent from
dengue. For Example:
 One Apple.
 One Beetroot.
 2 or 3 Dates.
 2 or 3 Papaya Leaves.
Mix all ingredients in blender and than filter it and
juice is ready for dengue patient.
Home Remedies:
Mix coconut oil with a
few drops of neem oil
and apply it on the
exposed skin. It acts as
a natural mosquito
repellant.
Conclusion:
It is concluded that dengue awareness is
beneficial in our personal life as well as
in professional life to guide the students
how to prevent from dengue.
