Deictic words are words that derive part of their meaning from the context in which they are used, such as who is speaking, who is being addressed, or when and where an utterance is made. There are three main types of deictic words: personal deixis which indicate speakers and addressees using pronouns like I, you, she; spatial deixis which indicate locations using words like here, there, this, that; and temporal deixis which indicate times using words like now, then, yesterday, tomorrow. Deictic words are context-dependent and help connect language to real situations.
