Cleophon The Agora
My film is a fictional tale based on historic events and using legitimate historical characters. Under
the genre of war/political drama, this film focuses greatly on the final period of the Peloponnesian
War between Athens and the Peloponnesian League. Many scenes in the film take place in Athens
during a period of upheaval und unrest; therefore, filming scenes in sets of the Agora, will capture
the scale of Athens at the time. One example is the trial of Cleophon, a scene that will be shot in a
reconstruction of the Heliaia, the courthouse of Athens. An earlier scene detailing the arrest of
Cleophon takes place in his fictional office on the outskirts of the Agora.
The patriotic protagonist of the film is Cleophon, a democrat who wished ... Show more content on

It takes place in Cleophon s fictional office room, a simple square room with minimal furniture
to emphasize the focus on Cleophon and his diligence. The scene occurs at nighttime and
indoors, and will be dimly lit by closed lamps and candles. This minimal lighting will provide
even more drama, as shadows will be cast along the walls. The main furniture in the scene is
Cleophon s oak desk, covered with parchment, emphasizing Cleophon s business and desperation
to stop the Peloponnesians. On the back wall of the office is a wall painting of Dike holding a
scale of justice, representing the ironic injustice of the scene. Cleophon is seated at his desk,
wearing a simple chiton to suggest his lack of concern for flamboyant, elite garments. The actor
is in his early 30s, as the true age of Cleophon is not known. This age emphasizes the perspective
difference between Cleophon and the older oligarchs with their superiority complex. The scene
will begin with focus on a distressed Cleophon, busily working at his desk on plans to unite the
people against the Peloponnesians. This distress will be quickly interrupted by the sound of the
magistrates police knocking on the door. Cleophon is then arrested and lead out of his office, while
the camera ends on the illuminated painting of Dike. Overall, this scene occurs in a historically
accurate setting, yet one

Sexually Transmitted Diseases Are A Type Of Disease
Sexually transmitted diseases are a type of disease that can be passed from person to person by
many forms of sexual contact. These different forms of contact can be oral, anal, or vaginal. STDs
are seen in different forms such as bumps, rashes, or unseen to the naked eye. Some common STDs
are chlamydia, herpes, syphilis, and HIV/AIDS. A person of any gender, race, or age can get an
STD but there is different stigma attached to that person depending on their gender. Gender
influences people to view the STD and that person who has it differently. This paper is set out to
find why gender affects people s views of STDs and how moral panic can set in depending on
the STD. The topic of women and STDs are not a good mix when it comes to society s opinions.
According to the article titled Damaged goods: women managing the stigma of STDs To
understand the individual level experience of living with a chronic STD, it is important to take
into account how these infections are symbolically constructed in American culture. (Nack, A p.
97) There is a certain stigma against women who have had or currently have an STD. A stigma
is a set of negative and often unfair beliefs that a society or group of people have about
something. (Meriam Webster) This stigma is attached to women because they are considered to
be damaged goods when they have or had an STD. This feeling of being damaged can come from
the woman herself or others. When a woman has an STD she can lose her sexual identity

The Hay-Bunau-Varilla Treaty Of 1940
Spanish explorers had an insatiable obsession with gold. With their empire expanding into the
reaches of central and south America their greed was apparent. Vasco NГєГ±ez de Balboa first
spotted the Pacific Coast from the isthmus of Panama while searching for treasure. His discovery
was far more valuable than any monetary token; he found a short strip of land linking the Atlantic
and Pacific oceans. This location would become indispensable to global trade 400 years after he
first saw its shore. Panama has since been a place of great prosperity, but with prosperity comes
death, disease, and political turmoil. The canal as it stands today was built in the early 20th century
and finished in 1914 under the Roosevelt Administration. Although the canal is just a series of
concrete locks, their application has greatly altered the role in relations between the United States
and Latin America. It was no secret that the United States had imperialist ambitions in the early
20th century. Theodore Roosevelt and Alfred Mahan both advocated for an expansion and
modernization of the U.S. Navy. The new fleet called the Great White Fleet portrayed the American
values of expansion, but needed tremendous support to operate to it s full potential.... Show more

Before the treaty of 1903, the territory of Panama had no intent to rebel from Colombia. The terms
were extreme. The U.S. demanded complete control over the canal zone and the construction of the
Panama Canal. The treaty specifically stated the US would be able to exercise a monopoly in the
construction, operation and maintenance of the canal. The US would also be accountable for the
justice system in the area. Although Panama fought for its independence, their land was forcefully
taken from them when Panama s newly formed government signed the treaty. The terms on which
the treaty was signed were practically

Budget Cuts In Schools
Seeming insignificant and being seen as an unreliable and an inconsistent source of money, classes
such as art, poetry, or drama get cut. For these classes of which have been an inspiration to many
artists to be let go, the school must undergo budget cuts. Negatively affecting the learning
environment, budget cuts have been public enemy number one in schools worldwide. Due to these
cuts teachers get laid off and those students who were in that class go on to other classes,
essentially, doubling the original class size. However, what do we do about those who seem to
enjoy the artsprovided by their school? Let alone, those who have become inspired and envision
becoming world renown someday? Decreasing desires and disregardment of the importance

A Review of the Book Calabash Parkway
At first glance, Dr. Brenda DoHarris Calabash Parkway appears to be a novel about a Guyanese
woman meeting an old friend from her native land, in New York, after several years. Upon further
reading, the novel has resilient records of feminism in the protagonists Agatha, Evadne, and
Gwennie. The three are emasculated by poverty, neglect, and abuse. Living in a masculinized
country the three women refuse to succumb to their struggles of life. These powerless
characteristics of the three young women are overcome after immigrating to New York and
Canada. The first reflection of feminism is Gatha s life of poverty. The shadow of political tyranny
and economic malaise loomed over the country (DoHarris 6)1.Those living in Guyana struggled to

She is well aware of whom her father is, but his not willing to acknowledge of her as his

of adult love and protection (31). She meets Compton, a Guyanese man returning to pick up his
residence papers from the US Embassy, and quickly falls in love, marries him, and moves to
New York where he currently resides. Dr. DoHarris expounds that: Not only had Evadne been
able to snag a bridegroom, but she secured one who would be able to wisk her off de mudflat,
thousands of miles away from the stich by miserable stich existence to which she had thought
she was irrevocably wed (39). Nor are Evadne s struggles in New York any less compelling than
Gatha s. Indeed, in some ways, they may be more so; for Evadne s relationship with Compton
becomes complicated when his former lover Jennifer gives birth to his daughter, Joy; and when
Evadne and Compton buy a house from Jennifer s sister the complications erupt with Jennifer
shooting and killing Compton (DoHarris qtd in Birbalsingh p.131). Gwennie, like Evadne, struggles
with overcoming a past of being sexually abused, not by a stranger or distant relative, but by her
father. Once leaving Guyana she never returned, not even when hearing of the death of her mother.

Saint Matthew Essay
Saint Matthew
The name Matthew comes from the Greek Maththaios, which is derived from the Hebrew or
Aramaic Mattiyah. His name means gift of Yahweh or simply gift of God. Saint Matthew was
one of the twelve apostles and he wrote the Gospel according to Matthew. Although he was a
publican, it is said the Saint Matthew was a Jew. Before his conversion, he was a publican, which
was a tax collector, by profession. Not much is really known about Matthew later on in his life. His
beginning of apostolic activity started in the communities of Palestine. He wrote for his
countrymen in Palestine and composed his Gospel in his native Aramaic. This is refereed to as the
Hebrew tongue which is mentioned in the Gospel and the Acts of ... Show more content on

They doubt though that the apostle Matthew wrote the book. Whoever the actual author was, he is
identified as Jewish in origin, because his Gospel contains many references to Jewish Scripture, law,
and ways of life. Although not clear, some authorities think it was Palestine, and others think is was
another early Christian center, possibly the city of Antioch, where it was written.
Matthew s Gospel has been understood as Jewish Christian in outlook. Matthew had a number of
purposes for writing the Gospel. One was to instruct and exhort members of his community. He has
two broad categories of material: narrative and discourse. Many scholars conclude Matthew s
primary intent was to write a handbook for church leaders to assist them in preaching, teaching,
worship, mission, and polemic. In his Gospel, Matthew focused clearly on
Jesus Christ and his kingdom as the good news of salvation. For Matthew, Jesus is not the son of
David, but he is the son of Abraham.
Notable in Matthew is its emphasis on Jesus as the promised Messiah and on matters pertaining to
the church. Evidence that it probably was written for Jewish Christians may be found which is
concerned with representing Jesus as the fulfillment of the Old Testament. The deep interest in the
disciples is emphasized in Matthew. Matthew gives the fullest account of how Jesus called them,
how he instructed them, how they failed him, and

However to be able to view Stanley sympathetically we need to understand his emotion and

The Application Of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles
Nowadays, new technology is rapidly shaping the way how construction projects are delivered. The
application of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) is one of these examples. Unlike conventional
aerial measurement by aircraft, it doesn t require expensive aeronautical facility and trivial
procedure. Comparing to other surveying approaches like using the GPS navigation, the UAV
systems can outperform in many large scale projects by saving cost and time. There many

To fulfill that goal, the booming technology like point cloud technology can be utilized with the
UAVs. In construction aspect, the point cloud data is a set of coordinates produced by 3D scanning
process which executed by the UAVs. By software like Geomagic Studio, the point cloud data for
the job site can be converted into 3D topographic, or the sections inside the building can be
transformed into 3D models. By the year 2018, the domestic UAV industry is expected to grow to
be a $13.6 billion market (Hanna, 2014). Due to the small payload of the UAVs and the movement
attributions in the flight, the most of unmanned aerial vehicles utilized in the construction site
cannot be equipped with professional cameras. However, the data collected by UAVs still meets the
accuracy requirements for the construction. Comparing to other surveying options like using
measure station or GPS equipment, the data collected by UAV systems can still outperform the data
measured by traditional equipment and techniques in cost and time. Therefore, with proper
construction strategy, the UAV systems with point cloud can be a promising tool for construction.
It is important for construction managers to consider value engineering which means balancing
three elements: quality, cost, and schedule in the construction process. Basically, applying UAV
system with point cloud technology can improve the overall construction efficiency through three

which, in this setting, is deeply intertwined with class through their use of the Bravo wink.
Bravo winks when it showcases the irony in a scene for the viewer. Bravo executive, Andy
Cohen, explained the practice as, Trying to let the audience in on the fun of the story. We wink
at the audience when someone says, I m the healthiest person in the world and then you see them

Ethical Philosophy
The USAA company website states that their core values are, service, loyalty, honesty, and
integrity; the same as the military community we serve, (usaa.com); this portrays the corporate
philosophy and ethical positioning quite clearly. They believe in working hard and faithfully to
deliver the best service possible while doing what is best for the greater good of the society in
which they operate. When compared with the Kantian Rights discussed in chapter one of our
textbook, Fundamentals of Human Resource Management (Noe, page 15), USAA s company
ethics parallel with them quite well. The four traits of service, loyalty, honesty, and integrity would
completely support the Kantian Rights of free consent, privacy, freedom of conscience, speech, and
due process because these are the very things the military fights to defend, and the military is the
market which USAA seeks to serve.
Foreign Operations
The extent of USAA s foreign operations is not too great considering they serve the people of the
American military forces. However, they do handle customer accounts while they are in foreign
lands serving in the military; for instance, USAA offers great financial management support for
military personnel who are about to be deployed so that they can use their combat and active duty
pay wisely to support themselves and their family.

Budget Proposal From Former Governor Governor Bob McDonnell
The outgoing Governor Bob McDonnell on December 10, 2013 revealed his two year budget
proposal called the 2014 2016 Biennial Budget and Amendments to the 2013 Appropriation Act.
When Mr. McDonnell released his proposal at the Capital in Richmond he spoke about some key
things in regards initiatives that needed to be taken.
The first thing people noticed about the proposed budget was that it was 96 billion dollars. He
made some increases in some areas while decreasing funding to areas many people considered
unacceptable. This includes cuts to schools; his plan shaved 48 million off kindergarten
programs deemed underutilized. One thing that was proposed that most people agreed with was
an increase to the states contingency fund. In the budget Governor McDonnell will increase the
rainy day fund to over one billion dollars. However, higher education was a big concern in the
budget as evident because of the almost 200 million boost in the funds allocated for colleges and
universities. The one major factor that stuck in people s mind the most and was the trigger that
ignited support for the piece of legislation was the fact that Mr. McDonnell did not propose new
taxes. In the plan there is a lot of cutting to programs that are deemed unnecessary and reallocating
of funds that Governor McDonnell feels are very important, for example Medicaid. This program
is what spark new debate in the house and senate about how Medicaid should not be expanded. This
expansion would

Psychological Disorders Analysis
This week we learned about psychological disorders, what could be the cause of them, and how
we try to treat each one of the disorders. In truth, it is a hard task to discern which of the known
disorders that were covered in the chapters assigned for us to read this week would be more
difficult for me to live with. Depression could cause me to feel like everything I did would not
really amount to anything, deal with insomnia, and unable to find pleasure in my daily life.
Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) can result from a terrifying or shocking event; this could
result in me having to experience the ordeal over and over again at any given time, losing sleep,
and closing off the relationships I have with my friends and relatives.

Argumeative Effects Of The Los Angeles Riots
The Los Angeles Riots Argumentative Essay
How did the Los Angeles Riots help bring a change to the community and to the LAPD? Rodney
King was an African American motorist who inspired positive police reforms after he was
brutally beaten by four members of the LAPD. Rodney King had an impact on the lives of
everyone. He was an inspiration to most of the black African Americans. He was their voice.
The Los Angeles Riots were the second riots to happen after the Watts Riots. The L.A Riots took
place on April 9, 1992. The riots broke out in less than a day and lasted five days and killed more
than 50 people and left more than 2,000 injured. On April 30, 1992, writers Richard A. Serrano
and Tracy Wilkinson wrote an article in the Los Angeles Times newspaper saying hours after the
verdicts were announced, angry demonstrators torched buildings, looted stores and assaulted
passersby as civic leaders pleaded for calm. The riots started after the verdict was given, people
were filled with anger after they police officers were acquitted of all charges against them. Tensions
also arose with Korean store owners.
The riots helped bring a change to the community for the African Americans because before the
riots they didn t have a voice, any protest or march they did didn t receive attention. When the riots
happened, they got the attention that they were searching for. The communities were said to be too
poor to care about them. In the article Sandy banks publish it said The devastation was
heartbreaking, but I understood the rage behind it. Los Angeles had been building to this moment,
with years of protests, meetings, and marches that got little attention outside a black community
seemed too wretched and too poor to care about. Los Angeles was going to have a breakout sooner
or later due to the little attention put for the communities that were in need. The communities felt
that with Rodney King, they finally had a voice. For the community Rodney King was their voice
because of him the people started caring, everything started changing. Later in life they would not
be ignored anymore. The government and the people would focus more on them and not treat them
as bad as they had.

Ethics- Do the Right Thing
1.Spike Lee intended us to conclude that violence is not an answer for any problems. In this
case, the character, Da Mayor, would be a classic example of how problems should have been
solved. He could have intended us to conclude that by resorting to violence in any situation, the
consequences that we would have to face will not be very favourable and it could lead to more
problems instead of solving the current situation. It is always better to nip the problem from the
bud, instead of letting it grow and allowing it to torment everyone. 2.In moral subjectivism

group to have their own set of rules and belief. The trick is to accept each and other s differences

amidst all these, there can be a universal moral code among everyone, to allow everybody to have

The Worst Recession Of The United States
At the end of the 20th century, it was clear that the United States national economy was on a
incline. The U.S began winning the worldwide arms race, holding 50% of the world weapons
stockpile (Taylor 10). Capitalism, the main trademark of the United States economy, spread like a
wildfire across the majority of the world (Taylor 10). To the uneducated ear, news like this sounds
great; the United Statesis slowly taking over the world. However, this insane growth was actually
poising the U.S. for an extreme downfall in the coming years of the early 21st century. The major
downfall would come to be known as the worst recession in our history since the infamous Great
Depression. While there are several speculated causes to the recession of 2007, one cause that
stands out is the housing bubble burst. As the housing bubble burst and trillions of dollars worth of
toxic mortgages began to go bad in 2007, fear spread through the massive firms that form the heart
of Wall Street ( Meltdown ) . The first repercussions of the housing bubble bursting were the floating
rumors about the investment bank, Bear Stearns. The rumors of the bank s imminent bankruptcy
were so abundant, that they became a self fulfilling prophecy ( Meltdown ). In an attempt to save
the bank, Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernankecreated a deal with JPMorgan ( Meltdown ).
This deal stated that the federal government would use $30 billion to cover Bear Stearns
questionable assets tied to toxic mortgages

Definition Of Drunk Driving
People often get confused with the different terms used to describe or classify drunk driving. The
fact is that there really is not much difference between them. Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) and
Driving Under the Influence (DUI) are the same but some states use one term while another state
uses the other term. Some states use the term OUI which stands for Operating under the influence.
All three terms refer to the same offense of drinking while driving.
DUI is the most widely used term for drunk driving. DWI is less common but is used in New York,
Texas, and Missouri. OUI is more commonly used in the North eastern States including
Massachusetts, Maine, and Rhode Island. There are also other terms used by some states such as
OWI (Operating While Intoxicated), OMVI (Operating a Motor Vehicle While Intoxicated), DUII
(Driving under the influence of an intoxicant), DWAI (Driving While Ability Impaired), and DWUI
(Driving While Under the Influence).
Drunk driving is a persistent problem on our roads today. In Kansas City especially, the
prevalence of drivers who act negligent and get behind the wheel while being intoxicated
continues to increase. Drunk driving incidents are especially observed during holidays such as
Independence Day, St. Patrick s Day and Cinco de Mayo. On St. Patrick s Day alone, police
officers got 41 drunks out of 1300 vehicles that were checked. In 2016, there were 999 DUIs and
this number did not include North KC, Jackson County, and other nearby areas.

Antibiotic Associated Diarrhea
Background: Antibiotic associated diarrhea and its associated effects are becoming an increasing
problem as the use of antibiotics increases. Diarrhea can cause side effects that are not only
uncomfortable, but also can be life threatening, especially as age increases. Probiotics have shown

As patients age they are at increased risk for complications of AAD due to more co morbidities
and increase in disruption in the gut flora leading to increasing susceptibility to antibiotic side
effects and complications such as CDI. The intention of probiotics is to restore or maintain the
balance of normal gut flora and reduce the incidence of AAD and CDI. Studies involving taking
probiotics in conjunction with antibiotics and their effectiveness are on the rise (Xie, et al.,
2015). Probiotics are becoming more readily available in various doses and forms. Further
research is needed to test effectiveness of varying dose forms and their response to different age
groups; especially adults and the elderly. Specifically, research is needed to test their effectiveness
on treating various gastro intestinal illnesses such as AAD (Chatterjee, et al., 2013). Nurses can
help with controlling the incidence and effects of AAD by educating themselves in the role
probiotics play in reducing incidence and duration of AAD. Nurses can encourage and educate
practitioners of the benefits of probiotics. They need to take into account the patient s preference
and their clinical experience with probiotic use. The purpose of this investigation was to address
the PICO question, In adult patients on antibiotics (P) how does probiotic/lactobacillus use (I) as

Personal Information And Network Security
Personal information and network security is vital in today s online environment. There are my
people that are out there to get someone s personal information in order to either to seal the

If you are using a MAC product, it is highly recommended that you have an Apple account. It is

Stephen Hawking (January 1942 Present)
Few minds of this century have had an impact like that of Stephen Hawking. His discoveries and

Internet Piracy And Its Effect On Our Society
How many songs does the average person have on their Mp3 devices? The Apple iTunes
Company s statistics have shown that the average person s iTunes library has just over 7,000
songs downloaded onto it (Gurman). Those numbers seem substantially high, especially
considering that most songs on iTunes each cost $1.29. That would mean that the average
person spends roughly $9,030 dollars on their music library alone, right? Wrong. According to
Apple, the total spending per iTunes account is merely $43 per year, and that s across all media
types. $43 dollars for an average of 7,000 songs? Now that just doesn t add up. In recent years,
internet piracy or file sharing of copyrighted material has gained much popularity. It has been the
recent advances in our technology that has made it main stream in the eyes of the general public.
Film makers, record companies, and many other entertainment industries suffer from billions of

There is rising debate on the issue of file sharing as an unethical crime. Many consider it to be no
different than downright theft. But are internet pirates being looked upon like criminals? For years,
American authorities have made numerous attempts to stop piracy in its tracks. However, many
court cases involving software theft have shown that not all pirates are being punished equally.

Teens And Teen Pregnancy
As us females were young we all seem to become mothers, by playing with dolls, and playing
house with others our age. It may be easy for us to say that as children we thought they needed
some assistance, but in reality that was only our imagination. As little kids did we really think
about what it would be like to really have a baby? We were children, but see the thing here is that
teens are still children who are having other children. 16 year olds do not just wake up thinking
they want to have a baby, most of the time it just happens without being planned. Teens often do
not think about what life would be like as a parent which is easy to happen and we should be
informed on the reasons why and what it really is like. The first reason why a girl can easily get
pregnant is not being informed about contraceptives. There are about 1,700 school based health
centers nationwide in which about в…“ provide contraceptives. Sexual education is very
important when it comes to this, there are states that still require parents to sign off their children
receiving any sexual education in schools, in which many of the cases the parents and their kids
are too embarrassed to talk about. Although it is the parent s responsibility to talk about it, they do
not. When a teen is sexually active, it is important for them to let a parent know, so that they can
get checked. Another possible reason can be unwanted sex. According to Teenhelp.com four in ten

Evangelicalism Essay
Introduction
Evangelicalism did not evolve or operate in a space. It is essential to consider the ways in which
members of this group participated in and changed their culture, and, conversely, to assess how its
social context provided both the ideas which evangelicalism adopted or transformed and those
which it actively rejected or resisted. As movements that came of age during the first half of the
nineteenth century, Evangelical Protestantism can be understood most clearly in the political,
economic, and religious contexts of post revolutionary American society. Although the movement
would come to effect profound changes in its society it was very much in a sense that the culture

Somewhat ironically, many of these social organizations took as their immediate goal the uplifting
of individuals. The focus of individual advancement and social responsibility found greatest
expression, however, in a religious uprising that shook the country during the early nineteenth

an intensity of spiritual experience.
The Second Great Awakening and Rise of Evangelicalism
Transformations in American economics, politics and intellectual culture found their parallel in a
transformation of American religion in the decades following independence. As a result, the United
States underwent a widespread flowering of religious sentiment and unprecedented expansion of
church membership known as the Second Great Awakening. The Awakening lasted some 50 years,
from the 1790s to the 1840s, and spanned the entire United States. The religious revitalization that
the Awakening represented manifested itself in different ways according to the local population and
church establishment, but was definitely a Protestant phenomenon. Methodist and Baptist
denominations experienced a surge of membership, often at the expense of other denominations,
prompting a move toward liberalization and competitiveness on the part of the Anglican,
Presbyterian and Congregationalist churches. The numerical success of

Nazi Germany And The Nazi War
As with American boys, a German boy during the 1930 s, also had hopes and dreams of an
optimistic future. It were these dreams which provided them courage and loyalty too. However,
their optimism did not come from within their own imaginations. The Nazi government provided
those hopes and dreams through forced indoctrination.
In the 1930 s, membership of teenage boys in the Hitler Youth (Hitler Jugend or HJ) was highly
encouraged. The German government promised parents that after graduation, there would be a
bright future for their children. Also, while a member of the HJ, the children would have free
room and board, would be well cared for and provided an education. During the hard economic
times in Germany, this was a strong incentive and motivated parents to put their children in the HJ.
However, after Germany attacked Poland in 1939, Hitler declared that membership in the HJ would
be mandatory.
The HJ was a logical extension of Hitler s belief that the future of Nazi Germany was its children.
As a result, the HJ was equally as important to a child as school. Hitler had made it clear that he
expected German children to be as swift as a greyhound, as tough as leather, and as hard as Krupp s
steel. The indoctrination emphasized blind loyalty to the fatherland Germany and to Hitler himself.
In 1933, Hitler, while addressing Nazi loyalists, stated his goals for establishing the HJ where he
said: My program for educating youth is hard. Weakness

Merging Agnew s General Strain Theory and Hirschi s Social...
The two theories I have decided to merge are Agnew s General Strain Theory and Hirschi s
Social Bond Theory. I picked General Strain Theory because it does a good job at discussing
some of the things that can trigger the release of a person s negative emotions which in turn may
lead to deviant behavior. I also decided to write about Social Bond Theory because it describes
some of the factors that keep people from committing crime. Both of the theories have strengths
and weaknesses individually, but when merged they help fill in each other s gaps. (Agnew, 2011;
Hirschi, 2011) +1 (888) 295 7904 The proposal of Robert Agnew s General Strain Theory in
explaining criminal deviance is based on three concepts. The first concept is that people... Show

(Agnew, 2011) There are a lot of people who have lost their cell phones due to their own
carelessness or it was stolen. Anyone who has lost their cell phone has experienced the first type
of strain. Agnew plainly describes the strain as a result when individual s lose something good
(Agnew, 2011. p. 190). The description Agnew gives comes off as being ambiguous and
incomplete. Arguably, the strain of losing something good can be interpreted a certain way by
someone and a completely different way by another person. A perfect example would be a drug
dealer losing his cocaine. According to this theory he is more apt to commit a deviant act to get
his cocaine back. Obviously the problem here is the fact that he was already committing a crime
before the strain ever took place. On the other, a victim of identity theft has their entire savings
wiped out. Consequently, due to their desperate need for money they become a prostitute. In this
case the theory seems to hold true. The scenarios above appear to be completely different in all
but two ways. The two ways in which they are similar are they both lost something important to
them. The word good is not defined by what society approves or disapproves of. What s
considered to be good is based on the individual s own definition. The second similarity is that their
loss triggered negative emotions such as anger, depression, and frustration. In these two similarities

Is Huck Finn Effective
Huck Finn : Effectiveness of Character Mark Twain of Adventures of Huckleberry Finn presents a
main character, Huck, an orphan who grew up in an abusive home environment. Huck demonstrates
his will to survive in spite of these difficulties through his mental strength and knowledge. His
nature, lacking in sophistication or understanding of the world around him, allows him to
effectively narrate and also receive admiration from others. Huck s individualistic, as opposed to
conformist, mentality makes him effective at conveying the story s message. In the novel, Huck
appears naive of the world around him; he does not demonstrate awareness of the possible
consequences of helping out a black man during his time period, freeing him up to follow

Citizenship, Religion and Society Policy of the United...
Citizenship, Religion and Society Policy of the United Kingdom Introduction Religion affects the
way in which one of the majority of the world s population structures people live. Many mainstream
institutional religions have experienced declining membership, retains power to influence systems
of ethnics and morality. Also, religion has a strong connection with integration and migration.
Therefore, Europe differs considerably in their responses toward integration and migration related
diversity (Simpson, 235). This is reflected for instance in the time duration with which immigrants
can apply for and receive permanent residence and citizenship status. Currently, Switzerland (12
years), Greece and Austria (10 years) are the most difficult countries to obtain citizenship whereas
Ireland, the Netherlands and France (five years) have relatively fewer barriers (Lebrun, pg. 144).
In England, the Borders, Citizenship and Immigration Act of 2009 requires a residential status of
eight years before being eligible for naturalization. It also introduced a voluntary community service
for migrants that can reduce the length of the naturalization process by up to two years (Faas, 143).
In this article, it is considered how national identity and citizenship, and understanding of the
geography of religion in the U. K, by Europe and migration related diversity, are intertwined at
political level and what implications there are for future curriculums development. Regional Setting

Nathaniel Hawthorne wrote the opening sections of his book, The Scarlet Letter, with a distinct
purpose in his mind.Hawthorne aim to to expose the reader to key concepts that would assist in
their further understanding of the remaining chapters .To do so Hawthorn developed the a complex
mood within the setting and characterizing Hester and displaying her complex mentality in trying
to overcome sin. By utilizing diction, imagery, and tone Hawthorne was able to expose the reader
into the world of The Scarlet Letter.
Within first pages of the book Hawthorn encapsulated the Puritan community s dreary setting. The

Thou art no Pearl of mine! Said the mother half playfully; for it was often the case that a sportive
impulse came over her, in the midst of her deepest suffering, Tell me, then, what thou art, and who
sent you here? Hester s candid and slightly callous tone shows her characters overwhelming and
doubting feelings towards Pearl. Having this tone enables the reader to comprehend the troubles
Hester is going through. Those troubles being, raising an elvish child alone and in exile while
dealing with the multitudes of her sin. Using imagery and tone Hawthorne was successful in
developing (in particular) the characterization of Hester and showing how her intuitive mind
attempts to overcome sin.
Purpose is something every writer must think about in their work. With purpose a book becomes
meaningful. Obviously Hawthorne has thought through his purpose of the expose of The Scarlet
Letter. In enforcing onto the reader through dark diction, candid and callous tones, and descriptive
imagery Hawthorne has established a complex mood within the setting and Hester s
characterization which were his purposes he conveyed in the first

Shawn Fanning, Creator of Napster, Changed the Music Industry
Shawn Fanning, an 18 year old Northwestern University dropout, never thought he would be the
one to change the music industry forever. What started out as hours of code to figure out a way
to share music with his roomate, soon turned into the program that the world was buzzing about.
His idea was simple, to create a program where users were able to share filers over a central
server, specifically music files. This became known as Napster. Napster, which was created in
1999, became an internet sensation in the blink of an eye. It was a free file sharing community
that involved millions of users. Napster linked numbers computers to a centralized server, which
was accessible to almost anyone that had access to the internet. When logged onto the server,
users could see music files along with their location, and begin to download them to their
computer library. Users had the ability to search for music on peoples computers around the world.
However, Napster faced a long road ahead of them dealing with copyrightviolation accusations.
Yes, these allegations from recording companies, in this case A M Records, would soon be the
ones responsible for the termination of this short lived, but powerful corporation. As a marketing
major and entrepreneurship minor, or even as a student taking this Business Law class, I can learn
a lot from this case. In August 1999, the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) was
one of the firsts to warn Napster of all that lay ahead. They

The Actions That Led to Boston Tea Party: 1773
On December 16, 1773, American Patriots disguised themselves as Mohawk Indians boarded the
ships of the East Indian Company docked in the Boston Harbor, and poured all the tea that was on
the three ships into the ocean. They emptied three hundred forty two chests of tea which was
valued at more than 10,000 pounds. This event became known as the Boston Tea Party. It was a
reaction to the Tea Act of 1773. The Tea Party was the key event that started the Revolutionary
War. There were some key events that led up to the Boston Tea Party such as; the Stamp Act of

The Tea Act of 1773 was imposed by the British government, its main purpose was not to raise
the income from the colonies but to bail out the struggling East India Company, which was a key
factor in the British government. The British government granted the company a exclusive
possession on the incoming and sale of tea in the colonies. The colonists had never accepted the
authority of the duty on tea, and the Tea Act rekindled their opposition to it. This act was also
passed because there was plenty of tea left to rot in a warehouse, so with an attempt to save the
troubled enterprise the British Parliament passed the Tea Act. The act granted the company the
right to ship the tea directly to the colonies and to commission agents, which had the right to sell
tea in the different colonies. Later, the Tea Act effectively lowered the price of the East India
Company s tea in colonies, since they did not longer have to pay an additional tax in England.
The Boston Tea Party happened on the 16th of December in 1773. This was a pre revolutionary
incident that was a direct protest by colonists in Boston against the Tea Tax that was imposed by the
British government. Boston Patriots, dressed as Mohawk Indians, and raided three British ships,
the Dartmouth, Beaver and Eleanor. The consignees, which was under the pressure of the Patriots,
in Charleston, New York, and Philadelphia, they refused to accept the tea shipments,

Isle Of Brazil Research Paper
Many, many years ago, the Isle of Brasil, or Brasil, was an island off of the coast of Ireland. No
one had visited there. The island was mapped on many nautical charts, and somehow no one
could find Brasil. Perhaps the reason why is because a dense fog seems to always cover the
island. This intrigued two of England s most prized explorers in 1899. The first explorer s name
was Harrison Abbot, born in April of 1871. He was a tall, thin man with dark brown hair. He had
blue eyes that glistened in the sunlight. The second explore was Orville Andrews, born in March
of 1870. He was a bit shorter than Harrison and a bit wider too. He had blond hair and hazel eyes.
His upper lip sported a handlebar mustache. The two had been the best of friends... Show more

Little boys and girls were running around laughing and playing. The ladies held pastel purple,
blue, and yellow parasols trimmed with decorative lace. Their dresses, full of opulence, matched
the umbrellas. They were almost like a piece of art having many fine details. The gentlemen
wore tuxedos filled with ritz and glamour. Some chose to wear bow ties while others wore
ascots. The line for the boardwalk s grand and luxurious theater grew longer by the minute. It
was playing The Sign of The Cross directed by French director Georges MГ©liГЁs. Harrison and
Orville were in the que waiting to see the film. While waiting, they noticed that a piece of paper
had been left stuck in between the wooden boards of the boardwalk. Harrison wiggled it just a
little until it was freed. The corners tore a little. He noticed that it was a nautical chart. When he
saw that it was from 1843 and outdated, he simply put it in his pocket and thought about
throwing it away after they had seen the film, but Orville noticed that the chart had a mysterious
and suspicious looking landform on it. He asked Harrison if he could take a look at the it. The
map showed that an island was located off of the coast of Ireland. The rounded letters printed
over the island read, Brasil. The two had not heard of nor seen this island before. They were
familiar with Brasil Rock which lay in a similar location on more recent charts. So they decided
to leave the boardwalk and head to the library where the figured they could find more
information on Brasil and its history. It was late by the time they had made it to the library. It
was dark inside. The exquisite, dark, detailed woodwork reflected the glow of beautiful golden
sconces and desk lamps which seemed to be the only light source. While researching, Harrison and
Orville discovered that the legend claims that the island is only visible one day every seven

Chemotaxis Lab Report
Genetic interference of Caenorhabditis Elegans within the process of Chemotaxis Abstract For
the majority of animals on earth, responding to chemical stimuli could mean the difference
between life and death. Taste is an example of sensing chemical stimuli however, this response is
not entirely dependent on genes, as tasting something will not necessarily trigger a gene to
activate. Within a simpler organism however, such as Caenorhabditis Elegans, there is a
complex behavior that is mediated by three sensory neurons and transduce chemical stimuli to
move muscles that move an animal forward(attraction) or backwards(repulsion). By placing
these organisms on several plates which will inhibit genetic expression, and then testing
chemotaxis at a later point, it is possible to determine which genes are responsible for
chemotaxis. The global sample averages of the chemotaxis indexes of CEH 36 and CEH 27 are
somewhat inconclusive, with a mean of 0.5815 for CEH 36 and 0.6981 for CEH 27. Overall, the
results for CEH 27 are likely to show that there is a lack of genetic interference with chemotaxis
where CEH 36 is less definitive. Introduction Within C. Elegans, there are three primary... Show

However, once comparing the data to larger sample sizes, interfering with CEH 36 expression
did not have a role in chemotaxis instead the data showed an average of 0.5818. Therefore, more
experimentation will be necessary in order to determine the role CEH 36 plays in chemotaxis.

Curriculum And Instruction For Atypical Learners
Today s teachers face many challenges in the classroom. Teachers are held accountable to provide
rigorous, relevant instruction that meets the needs of all students. In addition, teachers must also
provide accommodations and modifications of assignments for students who have special needs or
disabilities which may hinder them in a regular educational setting. These types of general
education instructional adaptations are the focus of one of my Master s coursework studies,
Modification of Curriculum and Instruction for Atypical Learners (SPED 5366). Through the
course, I gain knowledge which allows me better understand how to meet the educational needs of
these atypical learners. During the course, I created an application assignment with a teaching tool
that meets the needs of a student who struggle in the area of Science. In addition, I implement the
lesson with the student and reflect on the experience (see Appendix A Gummy Bear Science). I
chose the atypical learner lesson as an example of my showcase work because it reinforces how to
effectively assess a struggling student s strengths in a subject instead of focusing on their
weaknesses. In the assignment, I provide an instructional plan that best meets the needs of the
struggling learner. Instructional planning recognizes and supports the classroom as a community to
which age peers belong, where they can and should be nourished as individual learners (Lawrence
Brown, 2004, p. 36). For the assignment, I

Manual based therapies proposed to individuals or groups have an equal efficiency in the decrease
of anxiety signs in youngsters. How can this be further explained? Perhaps that is because it
reinforces the theory that team vehicles may provide more positive peer modeling chances,
reinforcement, as well as social support.
They are additionally a practical option when it concerns the limited availability of child focused
alternative therapy treatment specialists. Child and adolescent team programs are focused on
dealing with one certain, currently existing stress and anxiety problem. However, the majority of
these programs were created to relieve several disorders with each other in the exact same group.
The Coping Cat program has been the most assessed program for relieving youngsters of getting
over their fear of always being worried about what other people think. It was a four month
program planned for children between eight and also seventeen years of age, and could be made

ideas. Throughout the complying with eight sessions, the kid discovers the best ways to make use

Impact Of Technology On The Security System
T.J.X. was the leading fashionable brand name, off price product retailer in the U.S. In 2013 the
company s net sales reached $27 billion, increased by 6% compared to the same period in 2012. In
2007, the company was revealed by the investigating authorities that their database had been
penetrated by hackers for 1.5 years, and been causing 94 million debit/credit card and customers
personal information stolen around the world of its 2,500 branch stores.
In 2005, the discussion of upgrading the wireless system to the standard WAP was raised in the
information department. However, they choose to focus more on constraining the budget rather
than to invest on wireless security system. According to the corresponding email between the CIO
and the employee, they were aware the necessity of upgrading the system, but decided to overlook
on the potential risk and the contingency plan they relied on was hope, hoping that they will not get
compromised. And it was the same year when the first major intrusion into the company s system
had occurred at Marshalls. The criminal hacked into the network and established connection with
the main TJX server, then downloaded card information with their program installed onto the server.
Since the hackers had access to the main database, they were able to modify and delete log files
and to move data to hide their movements. This could be one of the reasons why it took the
company almost two years to detect that there was some suspicious software

Salmonell Salmonella And Salmonella
One of the most common causes of food poisoning to date in the United States today is from a
group of bacteria, Salmonella (Foodsafety.gov, n.d.). As reported by the Centers of Disease
Control and Prevention [CDC] (2014), Salmonella causes an estimated 1.2 million illnesses
annually leading to 19,000 hospitalizations and a mortality of 380 (CDC, 2014). This cost was
reported to be more than $3.7 billion in 2013 (Foodsafety.gov, n.d.)! The two most common kinds
of Salmonellain the United States are Salmonella serotype Typhimurium and Salmonella serotype
Enteritidis with Salmonellosis more common in the summer months (CDC, 2012).
Salmonella can cause diarrhea, fever, abdominal cramps, and vomiting anywhere from 6 72 hours
after being infected (Foodsafety.gov, n.d.). Because there are many things that can cause those
symptoms, diagnosing Salmonella would depend on laboratory tests that identifies it in the stool of
an individual that is infected (CDC, 2013). Further testing can help determine the specific type once
Salmonella has been confirmed.
These symptoms typically go away after 5 7 without treatment other than hydration. However,
individuals with severe symptoms may require intravenous fluids or antibiotic therapy, most
especially for young infants, older adults (over 65 years old) and immunocompromised persons
(CDC, 2012). The drug of choice for antibiotic therapy include fluoroquinolones, third generation
cephalosporins, and ampicillin (CDC, 2012).

Revenues for his group s cable systems had almost doubled annually since his first year as regional vice president. His group had been recognized for their accomplishments as the Outstanding Team nationwide at the previous year s Centurion Media annual banquet. In Bennett s opinion, the Northpark contract would destroy everything Bennett s group had done in their region during the past ten years. Bennett wondered if the other vice presidents had received their copies of the contract. He had to get to the bottom of this and try to avert financial calamity. He knew he had to be careful. One of Bennett s golfing buddies who was in upper management of Centurion s newspaper division had had a run in with Fowler at a corporate meeting the month after he became president of the cable division. His buddy warned Bennett not to trust Fowler. Bennett called his sales director, Vicki Porter. 2 Vicki, you are never going to believe what I got by special courier this morning. It s a contract signed by Joseph Fowler between Centurion Cable and Northpark Media and we ve got to sell them any of our advertising inventory they want at rates way below what we are charging this year and below many of the annual contracts we already have with advertisers for the coming year. • 3. Cleophon The Agora My film is a fictional tale based on historic events and using legitimate historical characters. Under the genre of war/political drama, this film focuses greatly on the final period of the Peloponnesian War between Athens and the Peloponnesian League. Many scenes in the film take place in Athens during a period of upheaval und unrest; therefore, filming scenes in sets of the Agora, will capture the scale of Athens at the time. One example is the trial of Cleophon, a scene that will be shot in a reconstruction of the Heliaia, the courthouse of Athens. An earlier scene detailing the arrest of Cleophon takes place in his fictional office on the outskirts of the Agora. The patriotic protagonist of the film is Cleophon, a democrat who wished ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It takes place in Cleophon s fictional office room, a simple square room with minimal furniture to emphasize the focus on Cleophon and his diligence. The scene occurs at nighttime and indoors, and will be dimly lit by closed lamps and candles. This minimal lighting will provide even more drama, as shadows will be cast along the walls. The main furniture in the scene is Cleophon s oak desk, covered with parchment, emphasizing Cleophon s business and desperation to stop the Peloponnesians. On the back wall of the office is a wall painting of Dike holding a scale of justice, representing the ironic injustice of the scene. Cleophon is seated at his desk, wearing a simple chiton to suggest his lack of concern for flamboyant, elite garments. The actor is in his early 30s, as the true age of Cleophon is not known. This age emphasizes the perspective difference between Cleophon and the older oligarchs with their superiority complex. The scene will begin with focus on a distressed Cleophon, busily working at his desk on plans to unite the people against the Peloponnesians. This distress will be quickly interrupted by the sound of the magistrates police knocking on the door. Cleophon is then arrested and lead out of his office, while the camera ends on the illuminated painting of Dike. Overall, this scene occurs in a historically accurate setting, yet one ... • 4. Sexually Transmitted Diseases Are A Type Of Disease Sexually transmitted diseases are a type of disease that can be passed from person to person by many forms of sexual contact. These different forms of contact can be oral, anal, or vaginal. STDs are seen in different forms such as bumps, rashes, or unseen to the naked eye. Some common STDs are chlamydia, herpes, syphilis, and HIV/AIDS. A person of any gender, race, or age can get an STD but there is different stigma attached to that person depending on their gender. Gender influences people to view the STD and that person who has it differently. This paper is set out to find why gender affects people s views of STDs and how moral panic can set in depending on the STD. The topic of women and STDs are not a good mix when it comes to society s opinions. According to the article titled Damaged goods: women managing the stigma of STDs To understand the individual level experience of living with a chronic STD, it is important to take into account how these infections are symbolically constructed in American culture. (Nack, A p. 97) There is a certain stigma against women who have had or currently have an STD. A stigma is a set of negative and often unfair beliefs that a society or group of people have about something. (Meriam Webster) This stigma is attached to women because they are considered to be damaged goods when they have or had an STD. This feeling of being damaged can come from the woman herself or others. When a woman has an STD she can lose her sexual identity ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Hay-Bunau-Varilla Treaty Of 1940 Spanish explorers had an insatiable obsession with gold. With their empire expanding into the reaches of central and south America their greed was apparent. Vasco NГєГ±ez de Balboa first spotted the Pacific Coast from the isthmus of Panama while searching for treasure. His discovery was far more valuable than any monetary token; he found a short strip of land linking the Atlantic and Pacific oceans. This location would become indispensable to global trade 400 years after he first saw its shore. Panama has since been a place of great prosperity, but with prosperity comes death, disease, and political turmoil. The canal as it stands today was built in the early 20th century and finished in 1914 under the Roosevelt Administration. Although the canal is just a series of concrete locks, their application has greatly altered the role in relations between the United States and Latin America. It was no secret that the United States had imperialist ambitions in the early 20th century. Theodore Roosevelt and Alfred Mahan both advocated for an expansion and modernization of the U.S. Navy. The new fleet called the Great White Fleet portrayed the American values of expansion, but needed tremendous support to operate to it s full potential.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Before the treaty of 1903, the territory of Panama had no intent to rebel from Colombia. The terms were extreme. The U.S. demanded complete control over the canal zone and the construction of the Panama Canal. The treaty specifically stated the US would be able to exercise a monopoly in the construction, operation and maintenance of the canal. The US would also be accountable for the justice system in the area. Although Panama fought for its independence, their land was forcefully taken from them when Panama s newly formed government signed the treaty. For these classes of which have been an inspiration to many artists to be let go, the school must undergo budget cuts. Due to these cuts teachers get laid off and those students who were in that class go on to other classes, essentially, doubling the original class size. • 8. A Review of the Book Calabash Parkway At first glance, Dr. Brenda DoHarris Calabash Parkway appears to be a novel about a Guyanese woman meeting an old friend from her native land, in New York, after several years. Upon further reading, the novel has resilient records of feminism in the protagonists Agatha, Evadne, and Gwennie. The three are emasculated by poverty, neglect, and abuse. Living in a masculinized country the three women refuse to succumb to their struggles of life. These powerless characteristics of the three young women are overcome after immigrating to New York and Canada. The first reflection of feminism is Gatha s life of poverty. She is well aware of whom her father is, but his not willing to acknowledge of her as his daughter plagues her; remembering the vilest human feeling of all to be a child virtually devoid of adult love and protection (31). She meets Compton, a Guyanese man returning to pick up his residence papers from the US Embassy, and quickly falls in love, marries him, and moves to New York where he currently resides. Dr. DoHarris expounds that: Not only had Evadne been able to snag a bridegroom, but she secured one who would be able to wisk her off de mudflat, thousands of miles away from the stich by miserable stich existence to which she had thought she was irrevocably wed (39). Nor are Evadne s struggles in New York any less compelling than Gatha s. Indeed, in some ways, they may be more so; for Evadne s relationship with Compton becomes complicated when his former lover Jennifer gives birth to his daughter, Joy; and when Evadne and Compton buy a house from Jennifer s sister the complications erupt with Jennifer shooting and killing Compton (DoHarris qtd in Birbalsingh p.131). Gwennie, like Evadne, struggles with overcoming a past of being sexually abused, not by a stranger or distant relative, but by her father. • 11. Saint Matthew Essay Saint Matthew The name Matthew comes from the Greek Maththaios, which is derived from the Hebrew or Aramaic Mattiyah. His name means gift of Yahweh or simply gift of God. Saint Matthew was one of the twelve apostles and he wrote the Gospel according to Matthew. Although he was a publican, it is said the Saint Matthew was a Jew. Before his conversion, he was a publican, which was a tax collector, by profession. Not much is really known about Matthew later on in his life. His beginning of apostolic activity started in the communities of Palestine. He wrote for his countrymen in Palestine and composed his Gospel in his native Aramaic. Whoever the actual author was, he is identified as Jewish in origin, because his Gospel contains many references to Jewish Scripture, law, and ways of life. Although not clear, some authorities think it was Palestine, and others think is was another early Christian center, possibly the city of Antioch, where it was written. Matthew s Gospel has been understood as Jewish Christian in outlook. Matthew had a number of purposes for writing the Gospel. One was to instruct and exhort members of his community. He has two broad categories of material: narrative and discourse. Many scholars conclude Matthew s primary intent was to write a handbook for church leaders to assist them in preaching, teaching, worship, mission, and polemic. In his Gospel, Matthew focused clearly on Jesus Christ and his kingdom as the good news of salvation. For Matthew, Jesus is not the son of David, but he is the son of Abraham. Notable in Matthew is its emphasis on Jesus as the promised Messiah and on matters pertaining to the church. Evidence that it probably was written for Jewish Christians may be found which is concerned with representing Jesus as the fulfillment of the Old Testament. The deep interest in the disciples is emphasized in Matthew. Matthew gives the fullest account of how Jesus called them, how he instructed them, how they failed him, and ... However to be able to view Stanley sympathetically we need to understand his emotion and mentality, before we make a full judgment on him. I personally feel Stanley is a harsh character but I also believe he is pushed into doing such actions and I cannot help feel that if Blanche had not visited none of this would have happened. In this particular scene I do sympathise with Stanley and I will go into greater detail to explain why I commiserate with his character. And I don t like to be swindled. this quotation was said by Stanley after being told that Belle Reve had been lost. He has lost property, something that had belonged to him. Rodney King was an African American motorist who inspired positive police reforms after he was brutally beaten by four members of the LAPD. Rodney King had an impact on the lives of everyone. He was an inspiration to most of the black African Americans. He was their voice. The Los Angeles Riots were the second riots to happen after the Watts Riots. The L.A Riots took place on April 9, 1992. The riots broke out in less than a day and lasted five days and killed more than 50 people and left more than 2,000 injured. On April 30, 1992, writers Richard A. Serrano and Tracy Wilkinson wrote an article in the Los Angeles Times newspaper saying hours after the verdicts were announced, angry demonstrators torched buildings, looted stores and assaulted passersby as civic leaders pleaded for calm. The riots started after the verdict was given, people were filled with anger after they police officers were acquitted of all charges against them. Tensions also arose with Korean store owners. The riots helped bring a change to the community for the African Americans because before the riots they didn t have a voice, any protest or march they did didn t receive attention. When the riots happened, they got the attention that they were searching for. The communities were said to be too poor to care about them. In the article Sandy banks publish it said The devastation was heartbreaking, but I understood the rage behind it. As movements that came of age during the first half of the nineteenth century, Evangelical Protestantism can be understood most clearly in the political, economic, and religious contexts of post revolutionary American society. It were these dreams which provided them courage and loyalty too. However, their optimism did not come from within their own imaginations. The Nazi government provided those hopes and dreams through forced indoctrination. In the 1930 s, membership of teenage boys in the Hitler Youth (Hitler Jugend or HJ) was highly encouraged. The German government promised parents that after graduation, there would be a bright future for their children. Also, while a member of the HJ, the children would have free room and board, would be well cared for and provided an education. During the hard economic times in Germany, this was a strong incentive and motivated parents to put their children in the HJ. However, after Germany attacked Poland in 1939, Hitler declared that membership in the HJ would be mandatory. The HJ was a logical extension of Hitler s belief that the future of Nazi Germany was its children. As a result, the HJ was equally as important to a child as school. Hitler had made it clear that he expected German children to be as swift as a greyhound, as tough as leather, and as hard as Krupp s steel. The indoctrination emphasized blind loyalty to the fatherland Germany and to Hitler himself. The description Agnew gives comes off as being ambiguous and incomplete. Arguably, the strain of losing something good can be interpreted a certain way by someone and a completely different way by another person. A perfect example would be a drug dealer losing his cocaine. According to this theory he is more apt to commit a deviant act to get his cocaine back. Obviously the problem here is the fact that he was already committing a crime before the strain ever took place. On the other, a victim of identity theft has their entire savings wiped out. Consequently, due to their desperate need for money they become a prostitute. In this case the theory seems to hold true. The scenarios above appear to be completely different in all but two ways. The two ways in which they are similar are they both lost something important to them. The word good is not defined by what society approves or disapproves of. The colonists had never accepted the authority of the duty on tea, and the Tea Act rekindled their opposition to it. • 48. Chemotaxis Lab Report Genetic interference of Caenorhabditis Elegans within the process of Chemotaxis Abstract For the majority of animals on earth, responding to chemical stimuli could mean the difference between life and death. Taste is an example of sensing chemical stimuli however, this response is not entirely dependent on genes, as tasting something will not necessarily trigger a gene to activate. Within a simpler organism however, such as Caenorhabditis Elegans, there is a complex behavior that is mediated by three sensory neurons and transduce chemical stimuli to move muscles that move an animal forward(attraction) or backwards(repulsion). By placing these organisms on several plates which will inhibit genetic expression, and then testing chemotaxis at a later point, it is possible to determine which genes are responsible for chemotaxis. The global sample averages of the chemotaxis indexes of CEH 36 and CEH 27 are somewhat inconclusive, with a mean of 0.5815 for CEH 36 and 0.6981 for CEH 27.
