are examples of distinct forms of mass media. The first, is a weekly television show
that airs on NBC called This Is Us, another is a national broadcast which Pastor Joel

The genre of William Shakespeare s most performed play has been debated for a
long time: is it a comedy or a tragedy? The play has elements of both genres, but
one is clearly prevalent. While the story hits upon the tragic element of despair, The
Merchant of Venice by William Shakespeare, is a comedy because lovers are
separated, characters are in disguise, and the story has a happy ending.
From the very beginning of The Merchant of Venice, we see the comedic element of
lovers being separated time and time again. First, Jessica and Lorenzo are not
permitted to marry or see each other because of their different religions and her
father s fervent hatred for Christians. Lorenzo certain, and my love indeed / For
who love I so much? (2.vi.30 31). Jessica and Lorenzo and certain they are in love,
despite the distance that separates them. Later, in Act 3, Bassanio must leave Portia
to return to Venice where Antonio is waiting to see him one last time. And then

dressing up as a torchbearer to flee from her father s house. Cupid himself would

away from her father triumphed over her embarrassment about dressing as a man.
In the same way, Portia and Nerissa don the clothes of lawyers to save their

There are multiple argumentation styles and types of reasoning a writer can use to
make their argument effective. There are three main argument styles, which are
called the Aristotelian approach, the Rogerian approach, and the Toulmin approach.
Each of these styles incorporates evidence in different ways and have the claim stated
in different sections of the argument. There are different types of reasoning that can
be used to strengthen a writer s argument, which include inductive and deductive
reasoning. However, writers can accidently use fallacious reasoning, which can make
their arguments invalid and unreliable. Fallacious reasoning can also discredit the
author s argument. Anne Fadiman and Rebecca Skloot have different and similar
writing techniques. Anne Fadiman uses a Rogerian approach in her writing whereas
Rebecca Skloot uses the Aristotelian approach. Even though they both have fallacies
within their arguments, Rebecca Skloot is more effective and successful in her
arguments than Anne Fadiman because she uses an Aristotelian approach and uses

this moment, Joe begins to transition from precociousness to the confrontation
stage. After he kills his mother, he is confronted by Shola, who tells him that his

Introduction: Promiscuity was satirized in Aldous Huxley s Brave New World,
and as much as we would like to believe our society is not nearing the vulgar
