2. Family Feud in Anita DesaiВґs Clear Light of Day
Until a child is eighteen years old, the parents have full responsibility. They provide a
stable and loving environment for their children. As the leaders in a household, caring
and loving parents also maintain the bonds that hold the family together. However,
absence of loving parental guidance can create tension between family members. Anita
Desai s Clear Light of Day shows how war, specifically the partition of India, affects a
particular family. The partition of Indian in 1947 created the separate countries of India
and Pakistan, consequently ripping families apart. The partition, initiated by India s
independence from Britain, attempted to accommodate irreconcilable religious
differences between Muslims and Hindus by forming the... Show more content on

While Clear Light of Day never specifies if Raja converts to Islam, because of his
interest in the Islamic arts and his formation of a new family, Raja represents Muslims
breaking apart from India to form Pakistan.
Like Raja, Tara leaves the family, but she exemplifies the expatriates who flee India to
avoid conflict by taking up new lives in other countries. Tara believes the house she
has grown up in is full of illness passing from one generation to the other so that
anyone who live[s] in it [is] bound to become ill and the only thing to do [is] to get
away, escape (156). The conflict in the Das house, caused by the parents negligence
and Raja s departure, spreads like a contagious disease and Tara knows she has to
leave. Marriage provides the escape for Tara, who becomes taken up with her husband,
her new home, and her new life (174). She emigrates from India and travels around the
world with her diplomatic husband. She later realizes that she must have used [her
husband] as an instrument of escape. The completest escape [she] could have made
right out of the country (157). Through marriage, Tara is able to create a new life for
herself. Like Tara, approximately 15 million people fled their homes (Hartnack 244) to
escape the violence of the partition. By trying to escape the conflict in her family, Tara
symbolizes the expatriates.
As Tara flees India, she leaves her sister Bim behind to take care of their mentally

3. Taking a Look at the Aswan Dam
Assignment #2
The Aswan dam was constructed as a direct response to the rapid population growth
within Egypt during that time. With a population of 26 million by the time construction
began on the dam, the government of Egypt was worried about food and energy
demands. The dams original thought was to provide power and expand available water
supplies outside of the flooding season to allow for higher agricultural yields. The
construction of the dam also thought to carry some secondary effect with it, such as
additional fishing grounds and channels for navigation. It was believed that the
additional energy production would also drive down the price of electricity, making it
more affordable. A major aspect of the dam project was the reservoirto hold the
floodwaters and control the release rate. However, the creation of the reservoir flooded
a large upper land area requiring the relocation of over 50,000 Nubian residents. The
relocating of residents because of dam construction is fairly common, as over ten
million residents of China of had to relocate as a result of dams, 1.5 million for the three
gorges dam alone. The relocation of the Nubians did have a positive effect over time as
their infectious disease rate dropped. Although the relocation did leave them unhappy as
they were moved further into the desert. The reservoir also negatively impacted
archaeological sites in the area, as they were flooded over. The reservoir it self was
predicted by some scientists that

6. Conflict In Sudan Research Paper
In conclusion, Sudan should use is power of Africa s largest country to create peaceful
movements and to provide multiculturalism. The principal cause of those conflicts are
about money and power. If they tough more about the way of living, they would have a
better lifestyle. Also, they don t have any social system to help them.
Giving money and donation will not resolve genocides. Those people need to stand up
and we have to help these civilizations with the strength of our words.
Finally, the power of globalization could change everything. With social networks that we
have today, it s impossible to think that some country still have that kind of important

They are voiceless, they have no rights. One cannot vote or go to college and get

our borders in order to solve our problems and then be able to redo the border patrols
infrastructure would be beneficial to both parties. So that instead of having the cross
the border in shady manners they can find peace in knowing that when they come here
they will be of value to their community and a part of this great nation. There are many
stabs that can be taken at this stance the information that it was backed up with. By
closing our borders we can also be then threatening the already fragile wall we have
between them. Instead of letting people try and come through there will be riots and
violent protests to get through. Mexico will probably shut down import and export
relationships with our country because they will not agree that it is fair for us to

8. Effects Of Drug Addiction To Drugs
Drug addicted teenagers can be remedied through them better prevention programs and
education. Drugs have been misused by people of all different ages but, mainly by
young adults. They use them mainly because they are depressed or think drugs will help
them escape their problems.
Background
To find out if a teen is using and or addicted to drugs monitor their action. Next have a
conversation with them about drugs. If they seem to act nervous and jittery about it than
most likely they have had it before. After that explain to the teen how they should feel
about drugs and some reasons not to use them. During this conversation there should be a
connection between the people interacted with the conversation. Some signs of drug
abuse are breaking curfew, mood swings, and violet behaviors. There are many more
signs that are there but being able to catch the teens actions is very hard. They most
likely the teen will not confess or admit to using drugs. They should be aware of the
consequences drugs can do to the body. As it is known different drugs has different
effects on the body. Drugs have been around for a long time and there are many
different reasons for them. They have been misused by teenagers over the years, but
more teens are using drugs daily. Young adults do not deal with their problems in a
healthy way, instead they turn to drugs as a solution. Teens who abuse drugs have had
some type of issue in their family. Drugs impact the health of a young adult because
9. Pros And Cons Of Rifkin
Rifkin claimed that animals were capable of every emotion a human has. He was
asking and demanding that humans should treat animals of all kind with more
respect. And that they are given more equality or the same as humans. It is obliviously
irrelevant to the rest of society, expect for the ignorant few who support this. One of
the few good points that Rifkin has is that yes animals do have emotion, yes they are
intelligent. But, so is every other living thing on this planet. We are called intelligent
life forms for a reason. It s a part of life on earth to kill for own personal gain, it s been
this way since the dinosaurs millions of years ago. And even if we didn t harm the
animals in ANY way shape or form, they would still fall victim
10. Core Activities Of An Office Administrator At Danlnia...
Introduction
The following report will look at four core activities of an Office Administrator at
Danlnia Furniture Ltd including; meetings management, information management,
Reception duties and website management It will explain the role of organising,
planning and co ordinating in each one of the core activities. The developments in two
working practices will be evaluated from the perspective of both an employer and an
employee. The report will then also go on to identify and describe four causes of stress
that are created through working. The report will then provide two possible solutions for
these issues.
Core Activities 1.Meetings Management
Meetings management involves a variety of different activities. Before a meeting has
begun the office administrator should make sure that he/she has booked a room for the
meeting and that it is in accessible location so that it allows access for anyone who is
disabled and it complies with all current government legislation. The secretary should
make sure that all the equipment is already set up in the room and check it is in good
working order. For example: a computer and a projector if there are going to be
presentations of any kind. There should also be sufficient refreshment available. An
agenda which contain: Apologies, minutes of the previous meeting, matters arising, any
other business and the date of the next meeting. This is sent to all attendees of the
meetings in advance so they know what is being discussed.*

Moreover, the government is providing financial subsidies to the hospitals that meet
particular health provision criteria for the purpose of funding their respective budgets
(Tomoaia Counsel et al., 2013). Therefore, hospital s ability to pay additional nurses will
be enhanced. Change Theory The study applies the systems theory of change. The model
gives the relationship and the connection between the different parts of the organization.
The study calls for the adequate measurement of the aspects of the organization such as
the infrastructure, task, technology, and both the human and financial resources.
According to Lozano (2013), the systems theory is applicable when there is the objective
to provide quality improvement, patient satisfaction, and Medicare management.
Therefore, the approach will facilitate the desired change by having the management
assess all the system units and adjust them to accommodate the increase in the number of
personnel (Thomas Galla, 2013). Otherwise, it might be not possible to achieve the
desired change if the administration fails to ensure that the facility would accommodate
the additional professionals regarding the available offices and work equipment among
others. Goals and Objectives of the Proposed Change The possible factors for the deficit
include the remote location of the premise, poor connection with the other medical
training institutions, and perhaps, complete remuneration practices. The knowledge of
the causal

Sustainable Solutions at Dell

DBA Strategy
Dr. Denise Land
March 2010
Sustainable Solutions and Dell Computers In this tech driven world, computers, and
electronics are the common denominators. Millions of people use computers and
electronic devices multiple times every day. Between innovation and use, the need to
replace these devices is paramount and creates a solid market for certain electronic
manufacturers. One of the biggest environmental concerns is toxic waste and plastics in
landfills. A report about e waste on the Greenpeace website states that more than 4.6
million [tons] of e waste ended up in landfills in the United States in 2000. Toxic
chemicals in electronics products can leach into the land over ... Show more content on

In the last portion of the paper, various complexity analysis tools are examined in relation
to Dell and the computer/technology industry. The industry was examined in terms for
the Fitness Landscape, Boid Analysis, Industry Evolution Modeling, and Life Cycle
Analysis. Examining Dell in the context of multiple frameworks granted insights into key
factors such as material inputs, resource depletion, byproducts, waste and disposal
options and stakeholder versus societal obligations and responsibilities. An analysis of
the Sustainable Value Framework, including a detailed analysis of the sustainable value
of Dell and its products and services rounds out the research.
Key Take aways
One critical factor repeatedly presented itself throughout this research project and that is
the absolute necessity for Dell to find a way to innovate in a sustainable manner. Having
Chairman Michael Dell at the helm again is beneficial to the growth and cohesive vision
of the firm, but Dell is losing ground to rivals such as HP in the areas of technological
advances and sales. Another key take away is that Dell leaders must invest in the
training and re educating of employees and invest in the research and development of
products in collaboration with the firm s key suppliers in its network. Critical to the

15. Alfred Adler, The Founding Father Of Individual Psychology...
Theories of personalities are theories that are part of analyzing personalities and are
created to determine the different characteristics of behaviors within us all. Theories of
personalities have been created in order to help us identify how we think, act or feel.
Alfred Adler and Karen Horney are important individuals that have played major parts in
studying various theories of personalities. Personality theories of which, that can apply to
our daily life and that can help us to better understand our personalities.
Alfred Adler was the founding father of individual psychology. Adler believed in the
importance of social connections and childhood development. A few examples of
Alfred Adler s theories include the following: Style of life and unity of the individual,
which was based on emotions, thinking and a person s feelings, can be understood to
the individual s style of life, or a pattern that is consistent of dealing with life. This
theory includes a personal goal, self concept, attitude and empathy towards the world.
Individuals express this through a way where it is a struggle to solve problems of
neighbors, occupation or sex/love. Adler s theories also include creative power, which
is used for inner freedom that encourages each individual to create their own life style.
This theory gives an individual control over their life and makes the individual
accountable for their final goal. Overall, the theory plays a part of the development
towards social interest. It

Children are said to be the future of America, but what if their future is lined up for
them already because they are stuck in a cycle of poverty? The Panel Study of Income
Dynamics (PSID) collects information on the social and economic status of families and
their offspring every year. The National Center for Children in Povertyused a PSID study
that found that individuals who grow up in poor families are much more likely to be
poor in early adulthood. Moreover, the chances of being poor in early adulthood
increase sharply as the time spent living in poverty during childhood increases
(Wagmiller and Adelman). The poverty cycle consists of a family in poverty which then

Poverty and education are inextricably linked, because people living in poverty may
stop going to school so they can work, which leaves them without literacy and numeracy
skills they need to further their careers. Their children, in turn, are in a similar situation
years later, with little income and few options but to leave school and work ( Poverty
and Education ). The National Center for Children in Poverty sponsored a study that
found that in families whose income falls below 200 percent of the Federal Poverty Line,
scores are far below the national average in reading, math, and general knowledge tests
(Jordan). Subsequently, poverty ridden families live within the same neighborhoods and,
thus, the surrounding schools follow the trend of not receiving enough money and the
inability to facilitate the students with the best teachers and technology to learn.
Not only do children who are facing hardships at school and are behind grade level
have a hard time getting into college and/or getting jobs, they also do not have the

As already demonstrated above, violent conflicts have erupted and will continue to erupt
in areas where traditional states, traditional land tenure, chieftaincies are collapsing or
there is a fragmentation of communities. Examples of such situations are shown by
many young nation states, e.g. Nigeria, Ethiopia, Pakistan and Rwanda, which have
been shaken and partly divided or destroyed by power struggles caused by ethnic and
religious conflicts. Education and Development in Nation Building Lack of education is
one of the most serious factors hindering development in nation building. This fact was
realized in the early days of nation building in Germany. Also, when Ghana became
independent in 1957, the first President realized the need for the promotion of education
in Ghana. In the case of Germany, for instance, it can be said that: From 1763, against
resistance from the nobility and citizenry, an enlightened absolutism was established in
Prussia and Austria, according to which the ruler was to be the first servant of state . The
economy developed and legal reforms were undertaken, including the abolition of torture
and the improvement in the status Jews; the emancipation of peasants began. Education
was promoted (Wikipedia, History of Germany, 2008: 12). In Ghana

Shanghai, a historic and cultural city, is famous for its Shanghai culture and Longtang
culture. The Shanghai culture is a style of Chinese art present in the late 19th century and
centered in Shanghai. Under the masters from this culture, traditional Chinese art
developed into the modern style of Chinese painting . The Shanghai style marked the first
major departure from traditional Chinese painting by focusing less on the symbolism
emphasized by the Literati style and more on the visual content of the painting itself. The
Shanghai culture originated from the Songjiang culture , challenged and broke the elitist
tradition of Chinese art, while also paying technical homage to the ancient masters and
improving on existing traditional techniques. In an era of rapid social change, works

23. Iphone Attack Research Paper
On December 2, 2015, fourteen people were killed and twenty two were injured in a
terrorist attack. This horrible action took place at the Island Regional Center in San
Bernardino, California. The two terrorists of the shooting were, Tashfeen Malik and
Syed Rizwan Farook. Apple is asking to expel the court order that requires the
company to give the Federal Bureau Investigation (FBI) a hand in breaking into the
iPhone of one of the San Bernardino shooters, saying that it is a violation of the
Constitution. The FBI wants Apple to make a way to unlock the IPhone. I agree with the
FBI, because many people lose their lives in terrorist attacks, not knowing who caused
the event and what could have been done to stop it. With this code, it saves many... Show

As my teacher Sister Hargrove, This is going to affect many of us. Even though
hackers may get into the phone, I still believe that lives are more important. Just
imagine, if one of your loved ones were in 9/11, the Boston bombing, the Aurora
shooting, or the San Bernardino shooting. Wouldn t you want that password to the
phone, to see what plans the terrorists had or other people are planning to do? Tim
Cooke s wife Barbara Olson, died in 9/11, in one of the four hijacked planes, and I am
very surprised he does not want to help the FBI. In conclusion, I want Apple to help
the FBI with this San Bernardino case, because I believe the lives of people matter
and we as people need to know what is going on. So far, Apple does not want to help
the FBI and I believe they are sticking with their word. The FBI wants Apple to create a
backdoor to get into the IPhone, so then they can brute force their way in. This situation
is not only in the United States, in China and Russia. I believe many people agree with
Apple and others with the FBI. Although this tragic event caused many deaths and
injuries, who do you stand with? The FBI or
24. Cyber Warfare Is Not Fully Understood
Cyber warfare is a relatively new concept to the imagination, but its novelty should not
belie its importance to be understood at all echelons of a command structure. It is an
emerging reality, and its relevance is proportionate to the continuous global expansion
and convergence of digital networks. The capabilities of cyber warfighting strategies and
tactics are extensive, and a need for a common language and understanding is necessary
for cyber warfighting capabilities. Within any culture, language is developed through a
symbolic evolution, and military science has largely built its own unique vocabulary and
terminology to describe conventional and unconventional warfare. Whether this
language can be applied to cyber warfare is not fully... Show more content on

The essence of Glad s essay is that descriptions of war are largely reflective of the culture
and political environment of their time. This applies just as easily to our modern era,
when cyber warfare presents an unknown frontier through which it must be described in
intelligible terms.
Beyond the cultural context through which we understand warfare is the biological
context. The vocabulary of kinetic warfare derives from our five senses, similar to
how classical physics started with an exploration of objects and phenomena that were
readily available to our senses. Our senses initially limited how science was conducted.
The smallest object that an unaided eye can see is about 0.1 mm in diameter (). The
farthest a 6 feet tall standing human can see is about 3 miles because of the curvature of
the earth. Unlike other organisms, such as sharks, humans cannot sense electrical
stimuli and locate objects based off of changes in electric currents (). For the majority of
humans, vision is the primary sense for navigating the world. Other organisms, such as
ants, rely on smell as their primary sense for navigation (). Vision makes the world
appear as having sharp boundaries, whereas navigating the world via
25. Comparing Pygmalion And The Makeover
The play Pygmalion was a marvelous story, however the remodeling of its plot was
formed in the movie The Makeover. Pygmalion was surrounded with social class,
proper English and of course, an experiment to design a lady. No less was expected
when the classic movie came out in 2013. However, some modifications had taken
place and it was soon discovered that the two like stories proved to carry differences, as
noticed within the beginning moments of the film. To begin, the character s last names
are mirrored from the book to the movie. This would be Higgins, Pickering, and
Doolittle. However their first names are different. For example, in the play, Higgins s
first name is Henry, whereas it is Hannah in the film. Last names aren t the only... Show

When Hannah realizes she has lost her campaign for Congress she feels saddened.
Elliot was doing his job for his beer company and collecting bottles. He made a
comment towards Hannah wishing that he was too smart like she said she was. She
insults him and they get into a little argument when he proclaims he voted for her
opponent in the election. Not only do the beginnings start differently but they also end
in opposite ways. In the play, Eliza Doolittle feels as though she was being used for an
experiment and develops a hatred towards Henry Higgins. They get into an argument
and it doesn t end on good terms. It isn t too long after this argument that Freddy sees
Eliza and proposes to her. She accepts his offer and then informs Higgins on the news
of the engagement. The play ends with her being engaged to Freddy. The film portrays
a very different ending. The Characters still have the same argument though. Elliot
overhears Hannah talking about the experiment and feels as if he was being used.
They get into an argument over what would happen to him now that the election was
over. The two characters didn t speak for a while after the argument, until Hannah
finally decides to visit Elliot. She talks to him momentarily before leaving his
residence, still being frustrated. However Elliot soon follows her and speaks to her
again about how she should run for mayor now. They kiss and agree to go out for a
drink and
26. The Beautiful Things That Heaven Bears By Dinaw Mengestu
The Beautiful Things That Heaven Bears by Dinaw Mengestu is a novel that addresses
America in a way that is real and raw. Mengestu wastes no time diving into the struggles
of an American immigrant. He starts with the title, being an excerpt from Dante s
Inferno and does not finish until the last sentence of the book. Mengestu not only talks
about an immigrants struggles but also discusses stereotypes, lost dreams, death,
loneliness, rejection, and of course romance. He is able to do all of this by portraying it
through Sephas life. He leaves interpretation of Sepha s feelings up to the reader, but
throughout the novel it is clear that not everything is as easy as it seems, especially with
being an American immigrant. I chose The Beautiful... Show more content on

The relationship is not just a friendship to Judith either. The part of the passage that
stands out is Her head didn t land so much as it seemed to finally relent (Mengestu 87).
Not only did Sepha need Judith, but Judith needed Sepha. She didn t care that he was not
born in America or that he was a store owner but all she needed was for him to be there
for her. What is the most important part, is to figure out and understand what impact this
weakening of Judith had on Sepha. Dayo Olopade in his article Go West Young Men
states, Flirtations with a white acquaintance, blighted habitats, and crippling disillusion
all figure prominently in both meditations on transnationalism (Olopade 5). Sephas short
relationship with Judith was the first thing, besides his store, that really made him feel a
part of the United States. He was not just an immigrant anymore, but he had American
people trust and they had him to lean on, Sepha was needed. Even though Sepha has
Judith, Naomi, Kenneth, and Joseph there is still an overwhelming theme of loneliness.
The empty space, whether it s only a few feet or the entire car, becomes impassable.
Perhaps it s the embarrassment of being alone, the fear of being exposed, and the risk of
losing one s anonymity that make us shy away from one another precisely when we
should feel emboldened (Mengestu 113). Sepha has these friends, but every night he still
returns home from a failing store in an unknown city. This

28. The Myth Of The American Gods
Some may ask, what is a myth. To the common person, a myth is a work of fiction : an
untrue story made obsolete by modern society. A myth is a story that cannot be taken
literally. For the sake of making the definition clear, a myth is a story; it is a narrative;
it is what helps people make sense of a complicated world through different perspectives
and experiences. Sometimes, these stories have lessons that people can interpret from the
events of them. Gaiman certainly has written a myth: the myth of the American Gods.
He has used past myths, those from ancient civilizations, to create a world full of gods.
He has created a myth about what America is within the narrative of those gods. He has
even modeled how religionplays out in this mythological America. Gaiman s narrative
introduces a somewhat complex system of characters; he has created a world in which
the gods (not omniscient creator gods) live among the people and cohabitate with them.
The common person cannot tell a god apart from them; they can sense something
different about them, as Laura and Sam both sense something different about Shadow
from them. Laura, after she dies, claims that Shadow may not be dead, but he most
certainly is not alive (Pg#). This shows that the gods are not explicitly known to be
living among mortals, but mortals can sense something strange about them. Gaiman also
creates a myth about the popular gods who have taken the place of the modern gods.
These include the gods of Media
29. My Most Memorable Experience
When we could get everyone rounded up and on the same schedule, my parents,
brothers and I would pack up and go on our one big vacation of the summer. When I
was8 one, we went to Mount Rushmore and witnessed the fireworks display. At the
age of two, we were at the grandaddy of them all, Cheyenne Frontier Days. In 2003, I
was three, we went spelunking in caves to explore Ruby Fall, Tennesse. I remember
nothing about these vacations, except what I was told years later about them.
However, when I was the ripe young age of four, my family went on vacation to Upper
Peninsula Michigan. That vacation is, to this day, my favorite one we ever took. This
is probably due to it being the very first vacation that I can actually remember. Over the
years we have traveled to many different places, but the vacation to Michigan is by far
my most memorable experience. The events that occurred on this trip instilled a sense
of adventure and curiosity into me. When we traveled, we did not fly, go by train, or
stay in a fancy hotel. Nope, not my family. We drove everywhere, even all the way up
to Michigan. We were in a truck that seated exactly six people, not necessarily a
comfortable experience. In addition to all of that, we stayed in our camper for the
whole vacation, practically living on top of each other. Good thing that we really love
each other, huh? The trip was during the first week of July, so on the Fourth of July my
parents decided that we would go to the Soo Locks in Sault

Abstract: the open nature of the wireless medium leaves it vulnerable to drive or wedge
packets forcibly into a tight position referred as squeeze. This intentional interference
with wireless transmissions can be used as a launch pad for mounting Denial of
Service attacks on wireless networks typically; squeeze has been addressed under an
external threat model. However, person with depth knowledge of internet protocol
specifications and network secrets can launch low effort squeeze attacks that are
difficult to detect and counter. In these attacks, the adversary is active only for a short
period of time, selectively targeting messages of high importance. We illustrate the
advantages of selective squeeze in terms of network performance degradation and
adversary effort by presenting two case studies; a selective attack on TCP and one on
routing. In this work, we address the problem of selective squeeze attacks in wireless
networks. We show that selective squeeze attacks can be launched by performing real
time packet classification at the physical layer. To reduce these attacks, we develop three
schemes that prevent real time packet classification by combining cryptographic
primitives with physical layer attributes. We
