The novel was published in the year 1937. It is a depiction of a woman, whose life itself
is an endeavour to oppose patriarchy. The protagonist show case great characteristic
traits of representing the spirit of change. She breaks the norms that are posed by the
male chauvinistic people around her. As the novel begins it is evident that Janie is
suppressed by her own grandmother. This is the first level of suppression she undergoes.
Here, a woman is suppressed by another woman of her own family, who has a mind that
is glutted with the notions of patriarchy. The grandmother in Their Eyes Were Watching
God though understands the sufferings of Janie, believes that it is her duty to get Janie
married to the much older rich man. She believes that only a male support can make
her life secured and happy. Here the grandmother represents the familial violence that is
meted out to young women by people with patriarchal ideologies. According to her, a
man is superior to a woman. She believes that only a man can give life and protection to
a woman. The grandmother sticks to the old beliefs about marriage. This is one of the
notorious notions that the patriarchal society hold on to. She fails to understand that
women can live a secured life without even getting married. However, Janie is
suppressed here. Janie is unable to protest against her much beloved grandmother. She

The Puritans and their Search for Religious Freedom
Throughout the colonization of America, many different religions and groups found a
home in the New World. One of these religions was the Puritans. More commonly known
as the pilgrims, the Puritans are a group of very strict, religious persons. Puritans were
English Protestants who believed the Reformation did not rid the church of Catholic
influences enough ( Puritans Robinson). The Puritans first came to America due to Mary
I, who was attempting to re establish Catholicism in England. This led to the prosecution
of the Puritans and Christians. While some Puritans took their chances and stayed in
England, and others went to the Continent, the more famous group ventured to the
colonies. They first stopped in Holland, but found they couldn t settle well there. So the
Puritans decided to travel onto America. After their charter was approved by the English,
the Puritans set sail. In 1620, The Pilgrims settled in Massachusetts( Colonists and
Immigrants: 1600 1700 , Wepman). During their journey to the New World, the Puritans
had to endure many hardships. The journey, which was three thousand miles long, was
rough. One of their two ships had to turn back, losing their supplies along with it.
However, their first winter in the new colony was no better. Their journey had left the
Puritans ill equipped and unprepared for the oncoming winter. Out of the first one
hundred and two settlers, only half survived the first winter. Out of eighteen women,
fourteen had died, leading
E.E. Cummings and His Wondrous Works
Edward Estlin Cummings was born on October 14, 1894 in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
Cummings began writing his poems as early as ten years old. His unique ideas and
various poetic devices that were included in his poetry induced him to be one of the most
remembered poets of modern day time. E.E. Cummings was an intriguing poet that is
known for many poetic ideas. Among them, Cummings was known for his ability to
create meaning using structure and his avant garde approach towards language. In his
work, Cummings experimented radically with form, punctuation, spelling and syntax,
which caused him to abandon traditional techniques and structures to create a new, highly
distinctive mean of poetic expression. By introducing this new innovative writing style,
Cummings has influenced thousands of poets to carry on with his expression, which is
what he had hoped for.
The wide range of writing style that Cummings included while composing his poems
gave him the title of originality. While some of his poetry is free verse (with no concern
for rhyme or meter), many have a recognizable sonnet structure of 14 lines, with an
intricate rhyme scheme. E.E. Cummings poem, Fame Speaks, is an example of one of
his more formal poems. The rhyme scheme is an example of a petrarchan sonnet. The
sonnet Fame Speaks talks about how E.E. Cummings wants to be remembered as a great
poet and not forgotten in the future. On the other hand, a number of his poems feature a
typographically cheerful style,

Examples Of Three Messages In Tennyson s Ulysses
Not so Known.
(A Discussion on Three Messages in Ulysses.) Alfred Lord Tennyson was a poet during
the 1800 s and during the industrial revolution. He was one of twelve children born in
his family. He was a sensitive kid that was in love with charming words. After the death
of Tennyson s friend Arthur Hallam dies, it gives Tennyson motivation to write several
poems relating his death, including Ulysses. The loss of Hallam, recently engaged to
marry Tennyson s sister Cecilia, dealt a serious blow to Tennyson. He soon drafted
Ulysses, Morte d Arthur and Tithonus three poems prompted by the death, but all with
strong classical echoes that spoke to his expressly modern and personal sentiments
(Vella). Ulysses is a story about a famous hero named Ulysses but in this story of
Tennyson s, it s about the years later of Ulysses life, not his hero faze. In Ulysses by
Alfred Lord Tennyson represented three messages of living life to the fullest, There is
always something new to learn, and to never give up. The first message in Tennyson s
Ulysses is living life to the fullest. Tennyson explains Ulysses after life saying he has
grown old with age, but his desire to travel and live still burns deep within. I cannot
rest from travel; I will drink life to the lees (6). Living life to the lees means living life
to the fullest. Ulysses doesn t want to grow old and stay in the same place, doing the
same things, and he realizes that the only thing that can stop him from living life
Revelation Sparknotes
The book Revelation by David Yonggi Cho is an informative book about the mysteries
of Revelation. Throughout revelation there is trials and tribulations that the people of
earth will have to go through because they did not believe in God, and did not wish to
be saved. In revelation God the Father and the Son will cleanse this world of all sin
and evil. Revelation is a book of the bible that tells what is to come in the future, just
like the books Daniel and Isaiah. God is each one of these books appears to people and
gives the visions of what is to come. Jesus is coming back for his people, they are the
true church not the people who act like they are believers. Jesus will come back for the
church before the tribulation this is called the rapture. The Rapture of the church is the
catching up of all true believers in Christ to meet the Lord in the air. People often times

Learning Organisation Its Core Tenets
Introduction
This essay intends to understand the attributes of the learning organisation and its core
tenets .For this purpose the case example of Tesco is used. The advantages and
disadvantages of applying these practices of Tesco in other established organsiation have
been critically analyzed with the help of specific examples.
What is a learning organisation?
According to Peter Sange, the pioneer of the fifth discipline, learning organizations are
organisation in which people continually expand their capacity to learn in order to
produce result which they truly desire; where innovation and new ways of thinking is
encouraged; where collaborative aspiration is set free and people learn to see the big
picture. (Senge, 1990) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The reporting lines are flattened as possible to ensure effective communication, which in
turn contributes to effective knowledge management
From the analysis of Tesco s primary practices, which reflects its status as a learning
organsiation, it is clear that Tesco adhere to learning in all aspects of the organsiation.
For the same purpose Tesco has developed its own academy which was established in
1998, not only helps in the human resource management of the organisation but also
encompasses the knowledge management for the entire organisation.
(The Scottish govt, 2012)
Advantages of applying the tenets of Tesco:
Tesco as an organisation places emphasis on training and development as more than a HR
process. It attributes them as critical factors for knowledge and learning management
within the organization. Here are the specific advantages of applying such tenets in an
established organisation.
Extensive training development like Tesco: Any established organisation should have an
established training and development process. This will enhance the quality of workers
within the organisation
The shared value concept: The emphasis on educating people about the values of the
company helps employees to imbibe the culture of the organization.
Company s like John Lewis and Co operative food have benefitted from this practice of
informing and educating its employees about the core
Religious Cults
Religious Cults A Threat to Society? On November 18, 1978, in a cleared out patch of
the Guyanese jungle, Reverend Jim Jones ordered the 911 members of his flock to kill
themselves by drinking a cyanide potion, and they did. It seems cultists were
brainwashed by this megalomaniac Jones, who had named their jungle village after
himself and held them as virtual slaves, if not living zombies. Jones himself was found
dead. He d shot himself in the head, or someone else had shot him. Is it plausible that
more than nine hundred people took their own lives willingly, simply because he told
them to?

Groups with self styled s like Charles Manson, David Koresh, and Marshall Applewhite
have flourished, teaching impending doom, using mixtures from Christianity,
millennialism and even science fiction.
Most of those who join these groups, do not join them with the intention of becoming a
cultist, they are usually seeking a new religious group, or a self help group, looking for
some improvement in their lives. It is the group that they join that play on the individual
s insecurities and giving them some sense of order and a reason for their existence in the
world.
There have been many religious groups that have caught the medias attention with their
deviant behavior such as the members of Jonestown. Here are some other examples that
will illustrate the complete dominance that the leaders were able to hold over the
members of the cult.
David Koresh s Religious group, known as the Davidian is one of the more familiar
cuts during the past decade. On February 28, 1993, Storm Troopers of the ATF tried to
enter the Branch Davidian compound in the outskirts of Waco, Texas, where David
Koresh and his followers had set up their haven. The compound was stockpiled with
weapons that were to be used for a holy war that the had claimed would be coming
soon. David and his followers vowed there would be no surrender. For 51 days there was
a standoff between the cult, and the ATF. The
Women s Work During Ww2
In a time when America s federal government had proposed the Neutrality Act of 1936,
and by the end of the World War Two period, had nearly all Americans involved in the
war effort while the war was ongoing al the way up to the beginning of the Cold War,
America was changing in different aspects of civilian life. It is in this context that
American women were being integrated into the workforce including jobs that had
typically gone to men before the war. Three significant ways the aspects of women s
work changed during the World War Two Era were the employment rate of women
inclining throughout World War Two, the movement of the Women s Land Army in rural
areas, and the opportunity to work typically male dominated jobs in urban areas. One...

The opportunity to work typically male dominated jobs in urban areas occurred
during the World War Two Era because as men were drafted in order to fight the war
overseas, women were needed to work in factories and step away from desk jobs in
order to keep the economy running and to produce items needed to fight the war (R).
Although there was a significant increase in the number of women who worked in the
manufacturing field during World War II, ads that were posted for women were likely
not to be for said manufacturing jobs. The need for the economy to remain stable
through the duration of the war made it more socially acceptable for women to work in
manufacturing, utilities, and transportation. These types of jobs had been previously
done by men until the war left Americans with few options. The government and the
industries that the women were now able to work in saw the women working there as a
temporary solution until the war was over and the men that returned from the war could
return and reclaim their jobs. Women who worked in these newly opened industries
received a number of traits including, The work experience accumulated by these women
during the war was significant. Despite their desire to continue working in relatively well
paid manufacturing jobs after the war, many women were laid off from their

This database provides general reports for. E.g. Daily Sales report by product or by

they don t allow in depth analysis. The possibilities for reporting and analysis are
endless. When it comes to analyzing data, a static list is insufficient. There s an intrinsic
need for aggregating, summarizing, and drilling down into the data. A data warehouse
enables you to perform many types of analysis:
Descriptive (what has happened)
Diagnostic (why it happened)
Predictive (what will happen)
Prescriptive (what to do about it)
This is the level of analytics required to drive real quality, cost and process improvement
in business. Mining and Warehouse Analysis in Detail

Theme Of Identity In The Brief Wondrous Life Of Oscar Wao
One thing all human beings, have in common is the struggle for self identity. Children
are raised by parents or guardians who have struggled and fought for their own
identities. In many cases, parents are still trying to figure it out, while raising their own
children. Such is the case with the characters in Junot Diaz s, The Brief Wondrous Life
of Oscar Wao. The theme of identityis conveyed through the characters Dominican
culture, social standing, and in finding love. Oscar, Lola, and Yunior are three central
characters in Oscar Wao, who s Dominican cultural and family expectations were major
obstacles as they struggled to establish their identity. Yunior represents the stereotypical
Dominican male raised in the states, yet he battles with selfdefinition as he comes to
terms with who he is on the inside as opposed to who he is purportedly supposed to be
on the outside. According to the Dominican culture, males are the picture of masculinity,
known for their womanizing ways. The central conflict within Yunior is his love for the
Dominican social norm versus his love for the things in his life that represented
nerdiness. Yunior lifted weights and ran to keep himself physically fit and was sexually
promiscuous, at the same time, he enjoyed and engaged in nerdy banter with Oscar about
science fictiongenre, anime, fantasy and even writing. Yunior and Oscar share the same
interests, which Yunior would never admit to anyone else, which is clear when Yunior

Almost all of the caffeine that is consumed is in beverages with coffee as the primary

where their sleep patterns have been disrupted by caffeine so they feel more tired

out the substance despite the threat it poses to social, physical, and economic well

experience mild withdrawal symptoms like headaches, low energy, irritability, and
nervousness. These symptoms are very short term and can be easily avoided by a
gradual decrease in caffeine consumption (Mayo Foundation). Research has also
indicated that people build up a tolerance to caffeine in as little as one to four days due
to the brain producing more adenosine receptors (Caffeine Informer). Even though
individuals who consume caffeine experience minor withdrawal and build up a tolerance,
caffeine does not have the addictive properties that are often associated with these

What are the advantages and disadvantages of network processors, such as hubs,
switches, routers, and gateways? Well the advantages of hubs are they allow nodes to
connect to one another that will create a physically attached network and a less
expensive than other network devices while being easy to setup. But being an easy to
use device that broadcast to all ports can be really unsecured for many applications.
Lastly the bandwidth is shared by all the PC s connected to the hub which slows down
the connection between all machines attached to it and can form bottlenecks. Next we
have, switches that have many advantages. The greatest would be the ability to support

Malthus Theory And The Earth s Theory Of Overpopulation
The Earth s population is growing rapidly leading to a state where human population
exceeds the Earth s carrying capacity. Thomas Robert Malthus was the first economist to
start the theory of population and the idea of overpopulation. He wrote his views and
explanation about population and its consequences in his essay on Principles of
Populationwhich was published in 1798. The book explained the relationship between
food and population, and their growth patterns. His views on the theory of overpopulation
and its impact influenced many political economists and earned economics the label of
the dismissal science . Malthus was concerned by the condition of poverty in the British
cities during his time and the increase of population in the industrializing societies. The
main idea of Malthus theory was to maintain balance between the population growthand
the food for human existence, as the human population tends to grow quicker than the
power in the earth to produce subsistence.
Malthus was the first economists to present the views and ideas on the matter of
population growth and its effect on food and the surroundings. According to Malthus
Theory, human population grows exponentially at a geometric rate i.e. 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, and
so on, doubling the number at each time period, whereas food production grow in much
slower rate than the population, which grows at an arithmetic rate i.e. 1, 2, 3, 4, and so
on. Thus, Malthus shows that population grows much faster than the

I thought you said you were packing... I said suspiciously.
I was... He started to explain. Let s just go now! I said. I pulled his arm, got his stuff,
and then started to head out to the car.
Mom! Are you ready to drop us off? I asked. Yes! Are you sure you want to go to Canada
all by yourself? It will be you, and your thirteen year old twin brother. And of course,
you will be staying with some of your friends. My mom said.
We will be fine. Justin said.
It was two hours later. Justin and I were just sitting at the airport with the airport lady
that was looking after us. Then they called our flight. We got on the plane. Ten minutes
later and we were in the sky. Everything was so small from above. Then, I heard a loud
clanging sound. Are you okay? Justin asked.
I m fine... but what is that loud sound? I asked.
I think he will know the answer. I thought. He wants to be a pilot when he grows up. I
thought. I think that is the sound of the airplane breaking down. He said. After a couple
seconds of him thinking that over, he said,
Oh no... THE PLANE IS
Essay on Life Along the Silk Road
Susan Whitfield writes Life along the Silk Road based on character stories occurring
between the eight and tenth century, all living at different times. She writes this history
for several reasons. First, she writes it to change the negative perception of the history
of Central Asia that we know through the annals of its neighbors. By explaining the
history of the region through the eyes of its own occupants, it rids the history of any
distorted views from neighboring civilizations. She uses the comparison of trying to
examine the life of the Atlantic Ocean by studying the ecology of Europe. Another
perception Whitfield attempts to overcome is that of the present day Silk Road. Today,
it is largely Islam, and it is occupied by Turkic... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All of these stories give accounts of what life was like on the Silk Road. The Soldier s
Tale is a very bloody account of what life was like. For twenty five years, Seg Lhaton, a
Tibetan soldier, had been at battle. The Silk Road was his home during this time. The
Tibetan army controlled a large region of the Silk Road between Sogdiana and China.
They blocked all trade and diplomatic missions through that region. They only way
trade could persist was to go another route through Uighur territory. They, however,
charged tolls for safe passage. China and Tibet were at war for years. Many battles
were fought that resulted in much blood shed. The story of these battles gives a better
insight as to what happened, rather than simply spitting out facts about who won.
Whitefield also uses this story to describe some of the harsh conditions along the road.
She mentioned that at some points water was extremely scarce. However, at other
times there were major floods that acted as major barriers. Often dividing the Chinese
from the Tibetans, and postponing a battle. There was also a story about a Chinese
officer who lost his foot to frostbite while traveling through the mountains. In the end of
the story, Seg Lhaton has to travel over 1,500 miles to get back to his home. The
Princess s Tale shows a lot of the harsh conditions that one would face when traveling on
the Silk Road. Princess Taihe journey begins traveling
Who Was Aaron Copland An American Composer
My composer that was given to me was Aaron Copland. Aaron Copland is an
American composer, writer, and later in his career a conductor of his own and other
American music. He was instrumental in forging a distinctly American style of
composition, and is often referred to as The Dean of American Composers . He was
born in Brooklyn, New York on November 14, 1900. He was the youngest of five
children whom are Ralph, Leon, Laurine, and Joesephine. Him and his siblings spent
their childhood living above his parents department store. He developed an interest in the
piano, receiving guidance from his older sister; Laurine. She also introduced him to
Ragtime and Opera. His parents were Sarah Mittenthal Copland and Harris Morris

Nuclear Power Supplies A Significant Part Of Current...
MOX Title
Background:
Nuclear power supplies a significant portion of current energy demands. One of the
newer advances in nuclear fuel is Mixed Oxide (MOX) fuel. MOX is a mixture of
UO2 and PuO2. Both of these starting materials can be recovered from spent
traditional nuclear fuel [1]. As such, MOX provides a method for reducing waste
generated during the operation of a nuclear reactor. MOX fuel is currently in use in
Europe, Russia and Japan [2]. The United States is in the process of developing next
generation nuclear reactors which can employ MOX. Due to the importance of MOX
fuel, important research is currently being to both understand the principles governing
MOX, and how to enhance its performance. MOX fuel is comprised of UO2 and PuO2.
The UO2 is acquired either from naturally occurring uranium oxide, or recovered from
the spent fuel of a traditional nuclear reactor. Plutonium metal is produced by the U 238
during operation of the nuclear reactor [1]. The Pu must then be converted to PuO2.
The first step in producing PuO2 is to dissolve the recovered Pu in HNO3 HF to get
Pu(NO3)4. Once the Pu(NO3)4 is generated, a few different methods can be used to
acquire PuO2. The most commercially used method involves the precipitation of
plutonium oxalate. The Pu(NO3)4 is conditioned with hydrogen peroxide to produce
Pu(lV). Next, an excess of oxalic acid is added to reduce the solubility. The oxalate is
then left to decompose to oxide which can then be filtered and dried
Theoretical Integration Theory
I chose Integrated theories best describe crime. It is an act of combining two or more sets
of logically interrelated propositions into a larger set of interrelated propositions in order
to provide a more comprehensive explanation of a particular phenomenon. Theoretical
integration is more in relation to integrating theories and not the concepts. Integration
theories are also explanatory in purpose and must result in greater or more comprehensive
understanding otherwise theoretical integration has not been achieved. The concepts and
central propositions from two or more prior existing theories into a new single set of
integrating concepts and propositions (Elliot, 2012). Integrated theories are great in
providing explanations of deviant behavior... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a result, some individuals enter adolescence with weak bonds to social institutions and
weak personal beliefs or commitment to conventional, conforming, or law abiding
behavior. Other people, particularly from disadvantaged social backgrounds, may enter
adolescence with strong bonds to conventional society, but the experience or anticipation
of failure (strain theory). Still other individuals enter adolescence with strong
conventional bonds, experience and anticipate success, and maintain strong conventional
bonds throughout adolescence. With weak bonding, individuals become more
susceptible to the development of external bonds to unconventional, deviant, or
delinquent peers. To the extent that a person associates with others who engage in
problem behavior such problem alcohol use, problem and illicit drug use, theft,
violence, and other illegal behavior), one has more opportunity to learn about
opportunities for problem behavior, ways of engaging in problem behavior, and reasons
or rationalizations for problem behavior. As a result, individuals with low levels of
bonding are more likely to develop unconventional or delinquent bonding, especially in
the peers. The influences of strain and social control thus operate, according to this
theory more indirectly through their influences on peer group bonding, although for
some specific types of problem behavior the influences of strain and bonding may be
more direct. (pg.
Balanced Equation Lab Report
First we have to find the Balanced Equation: Fe2O3 + 3CO yields 2Fe + 3CO2
Then you would need to find your number of moles for Fe, which is 0.07890
Then you would need to find your number of moles for CO, which is 0.34451
So that also helps us because it tells us that 1 singluar mole Fe behaves with 3 mole CO.
0.07890^3 mole of Fe which gives us a total of 0.2367 mole
1 singular mole of Fe behaves with 2 mole of Iron, you would then do 0.07890^2 to get:
0.1578 mol of Iron.
Then you would take 55.845 (iron s singular mole) and multiply it by the 0.1578 and that
would be the theoretical yield which is 8.812341
Your percent yield would be: 0.82044415
The balanced equation I came up with is 3CaCO3 + 2Li3N yields 3Li2CO3 + Ca3N2 as
my answer. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First you want to balance the equation to: PCI5 + 4H2O yields H3PO4 + 5HCI
Then you would take 208 g of PCI5 which give you 5 mole of HCI and 75.5 g of PCI5
give you 5 times 75.5 divided by 208, which gives you a final answer of: 1.8149
First you want to find your balanced equation, which is going to be: 2C6H6 + 15O2
yields 12CO2 + 6H2O.
Then you find the mole of C6H6 which is going to be 78.1.
Then you find the mole of Carbon from one singular C6H6, which is going to be
The Song Of Wandering Aengus Analysis
Work Hard for Loved Ones
Aengus in The Song of Wandering Aengus took on a lifelong journey to find his
mysterious trout that had turned into a girl. Conner Bailey from The Land of Stories
The Wishing Spell, had to find a way to escape and get out of the fairy tale world. Alex
Bailey from The Land of Stories The Enchantress Returns had to save the world by
defeating the malevolent Enchantress. However, all three were diligent in working hard
to achieve their goals because they wanted to get home and be with the people they loved.
Aengus undertook an expedition to find the glimmering girl who had once been a
trout. The poem, The Song of Wandering Aengus, states, Though I am old with
wandering Through hollow lands and hilly lands, I will find out where she has gone,
And kiss her lips and take her hands (Yeats 18 20). This explains that Aengus was
going to devote his life to finding the girl he loves. According to the author of The Song
of Wandering Aengus, Though I am old with wandering (Yeats 17). This shows that
Aengus was getting older and older while trying to find the goal, but still, he had no
luck. Based on what is in the text, And kiss her lips and take her hands; (Yeats 20). This
represents that Aengus was pursuing love and admiration from the mysterious girl.
Although Aengus worked very hard for what he wanted, he never found it.
Alex Bailey was a thirteen year old girl who had been seized in the fairy tale world and
had to defeat the Enchantress in order to save the world, nevertheless all people that
were captured, including the fairy godmother, of which is her grandmother. According
to the book, The Land of Stories the Enchantress Returns, it states, ... the Enchantress
was unstoppable. (Colfer 196). It was if the Fairy Godmother had told them the world
was over. (Colfer 198). This shows that if no one could stop the Enchantress, the world
would end. Based on what I read, A thirteen year old girl in a headband had been able to
do what none of the crowned monarchs could. (Colfer 482). This explains that Alex
defeated the Enchantress herself even though no one else could and even though she
went through many challenges. According to the author, What will you do now that I

Japanese Politics, By Takashi Inoguchi
In Takashi Inoguchi s latest publication, Japanese Politics: An Introduction, one of the
foremost political scientists in Japan, Takashi Inoguchi thoroughly delves into two
decades of Japanese history. The first period 1983 1993, and the second 1994 2004
sandwich the fall of the 1955 political system and era of one party dominance. There is
a unique perspective that the author is able to provide due to his tenure as a professor
of political science in the Institute of Oriental Culture at the University of Tokyo as
well as Assistant Secretary General of the United Nations. His wife is also a well
respected political scientist who sat on the House of Representatives and had several
other notable accomplishments, thus providing a truly unique perspective from the
author s point of view. The cover of the book is that of a seemingly approachable and
almost friendly book on Japanese Politics, which is rare when it comes to books on
politics. The image depicts Japanese men working, while the opposing sides are
pushing opposite ends with strained faces whilst the workers on the interior of the
outside men are unable to move forward with progress. The image is symbolism for the
political and economic developments of Japans history and politics, and even goes as far
to include information about scholarly debates about Japanese Politics. One of the main
arguments that Inoguchi makes in the book is that the study of Japanese politics from his
first segment (1983 1999) leads to
False Memory Essay
False memory, second to forgetting, is one of the two fundamental types of deformation
in episodic memory (Holliday, Brainerd Reyna, 2010). Simply stated, false memory is
the propensity to account normal occurrences as being a fraction of a key experience that
in actuality was not an element of that experience (Holliday, Brainerd Reyna). False
memories are something nearly everyone experience. Furthermore, false memoryis
defined as placed together, constructed representations of mental schemas that are
incorrect (Solso, MacLin MacLin, 2008). Individuals do not intentionally fabricate their
memory. However, perceptual and social factors are a few things that a responsible for
manipulating memory (Solso, MacLin MacLin, 2008).... Show more content on

The phenomenon of explaining false memory occurrences is rising. Researchers have
developed a paradigm known as Deese Roediger McDermott paradigm in efforts to
examine false memories in depth (Dehon, Laroi Van der Linden, 2011). In the DRM
paradigm, participants are introduced to and asked to memorize a list of correlated
words congregating towards a vital subject word that is never introduced (Dehon, Laroi
Van der Linden, 2011). The rate that participants recall this false decoy is alarming.
Researchers have provided several explanations to explain for the false memories in the
DRM paradigm (Dehon, Laroi Van der Linden, 2011). The two most notable in explaining
false memories in the DRM paradigm are the fuzzy trace theory and the activation
/monitoring theory (Dehon, Laroi Van der Linden, 2011). While the two theories are
particularly dissimilar, they both sustain that information developing throughout list
encoding attributes an essential part in false memory construction (Dehon, Laroi Van der
Linden, 2011).
Moreover, research also examined the effects of age on participants in regards to the
onset of false memory. With materials and testing procedures that have been repeatedly
found to produce higher levels of false memory, older children are more susceptible to
generating false memories than younger children (Holliday, Brainerd Reyna, 2010). This
is particularly realistic in the DRM lists (Holliday, Brainerd

Chapter 4 Big Picture Questions 1.What common features can you identify in the
empires described in this chapter? All empires controlled large areas and populations. All
empires were brought together by conquest and funded in part by extracting wealth from
conquered peoples. All empires stimulated the exchange of ideas, cultures, and values
among the peoples they conquered. All empires sought to foster an imperial identity that
transcended more local identities and loyalties. All empires ultimately collapsed. 2.In
what ways did these empires differ from one another? What accounts for those
differences? Some empires sought to rule through local elites; other empires sought to

The most distinctive feature of Greek political culture lay in the extent of popular
participation in political life that occurred within the city states. This participation
was based on the unique ideas of citizenship, of free people running the affairs of state,
and of equality for all citizens before the law. Political participation in Greek city states
was much wider than in Persia, but it varied considerably between city states and over
time. Early in Greek history, only the wealthy and wellborn had the rights of full
citizenship, but middle and lower class men gradually obtained these rights in some
city states. Nowhere was participation universal. The widest participation occurred in
Athens beginning in 594 b.c.e., when the reforming leader Solon took Athenian
politics in a more democratic direction, breaking the hold of a small group of
aristocratic families. Debt slavery was abolished, access to public office was opened
to a wider group of men, and all citizens were allowed to take part in the Assembly.
Later, all holders of public office were chosen by lot and were paid, so that even the
poorest could serve. Athenian democracy was direct rather than representative. Even at
its height, it was far from universal, with well over half the population, including women,
slaves, and foreigners, excluded from participation. 2.Why did semidemocratic
Japanese Immigration Essay
4. The effects of the Japanese immigrants.
As a result of Japanese Immigration in Si Racha, It has an impact on real estate market
expansion especially in condominiums and serviced apartment. These are a positive
impact for overall economics of the East especially the big districts such as Pattaya
including Si racha.
4.1 Emerging of Japanese Town
Nowadays, the Japanese culture is greatly influenced on Si Racha neighbourhood because
more than 4,000 Japanese people living in this area. As Japanese s characteristic is like to
hang out after work hour, there are many businesses such as entertainment complexes and
Japanese restaurants are emerging to support Japanese lifestyle not less than 60 places
and become a tourist attraction of Thailand. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is thought the rising numeration of Japanese can cause negative situations as follows.
First, it has an effect on the consumption rate. The great Japanese facilities may
encourage another target migrate to Si Racha such as the elderly group because the cost
of living is much cheaper than in Japan. Si Racha may face with lack of food water or
other supplement because the more people the more consumption as well. It will have
sufficient resources to it.
Second, as the cost of living is tending to be high, it can effect to local people that
might not be able to buy or live in that area. It also causes social problems such as crime.
Therefore, they may be influence local people migrate to other area that cheaper than Si
Racha.
Third, there is a problem about racist in some facilities. For example, in some
restaurants, the service of the staff is arrogant and inhospitable to Thai because they
need to serve only Japanese. If any restaurant provides service toThai, it will be banned
from the Japanese
Opportunity Reed Reflection
I look forward to the opportunity Reed offers, to share something of value with the
community during Paideia. The Greek word not only means education, as the prompt
indicates; it also connotes the development of the ideal citizen, requiring discipline and
emotional health as well as content learning. The experience I have had that comes
closest to this is the work of being in the present moment. Often called mindfulness, it s a
tool for opening oneself up to a deep educationof the mind, body and spirit; along with
significant connections to the intellectual pursuits of neuroscience and psychology.
I believe the mindfulness movement sprung from monastic requirements, rather than
from academic psychology or practical medicine, even though ... Show more content on

While I feel insufficiently trained to teach official MBSR, I would be glad to share not
only what I have learned about it, my passion and curiosity, but also how it can help
others.
I see this class as especially pertinent to Reed because of its honor code. The principle
of honor requires that people have both integrity and mutual respect. One must be able to
calmly and clearly evaluate a course of action and a fair minded attitude towards it. For
these goals there may be no better prescription than calm abiding in the present moment.
Cultivating more skillful ways of responding to stress and distress is one of my goals,
and another is to share something I have found so beneficial for my mental health and
general well being. The learning, and its practice involve group activities and connection
at their core, key aspects of a comprehensive college education. Think of all the things
college freshmen go through: leaving home for the first time, interacting with different
and new people in a community, test anxiety, regulating sleep/eating in a new
environment. Learning what is most healthy and good could all be experienced more

Preparing A Brownie Pie
The best part of any meal is at the end. A good dessert can hurt or make a meal. A good
pie or a hot brownie with vanilla ice cream could be an excellent ending to a nice meal.
To make the end of the meal really delicious why not combine to two into one. To end
your meal in an amazing way mix, bake, and devour a brownie pie. When baking a
brownie pie having the right ingredients is a must. Having a good pie crust is essential.
Pillsbury pie crust will work and taste the best. Leave the crust in the freezer until one
hour before making the pie. While it is defrosting start mixing the ingredients for the pie.
The ingredients needed for the brownie pie are: 2 cups sugar, 2 cups cocoa, 1 teaspoon
vanilla extract, Вј all purpose flour, 2 sticks of melted butter and a pinch of salt. Once
all the necessary ingredients have been added to the mixing bowl, it s time to bake the pie.

  • 3. The Puritans and their Search for Religious Freedom Throughout the colonization of America, many different religions and groups found a home in the New World. One of these religions was the Puritans. More commonly known as the pilgrims, the Puritans are a group of very strict, religious persons. Puritans were English Protestants who believed the Reformation did not rid the church of Catholic influences enough ( Puritans Robinson). The Puritans first came to America due to Mary I, who was attempting to re establish Catholicism in England. This led to the prosecution of the Puritans and Christians. While some Puritans took their chances and stayed in England, and others went to the Continent, the more famous group ventured to the colonies. They first stopped in Holland, but found they couldn t settle well there. So the Puritans decided to travel onto America. After their charter was approved by the English, the Puritans set sail. In 1620, The Pilgrims settled in Massachusetts( Colonists and Immigrants: 1600 1700 , Wepman). During their journey to the New World, the Puritans had to endure many hardships. The journey, which was three thousand miles long, was rough. One of their two ships had to turn back, losing their supplies along with it. However, their first winter in the new colony was no better. Their journey had left the Puritans ill equipped and unprepared for the oncoming winter. Out of the first one hundred and two settlers, only half survived the first winter. Out of eighteen women, fourteen had died, leading
  • 4. E.E. Cummings and His Wondrous Works Edward Estlin Cummings was born on October 14, 1894 in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Cummings began writing his poems as early as ten years old. His unique ideas and various poetic devices that were included in his poetry induced him to be one of the most remembered poets of modern day time. E.E. Cummings was an intriguing poet that is known for many poetic ideas. Among them, Cummings was known for his ability to create meaning using structure and his avant garde approach towards language. In his work, Cummings experimented radically with form, punctuation, spelling and syntax, which caused him to abandon traditional techniques and structures to create a new, highly distinctive mean of poetic expression. By introducing this new innovative writing style, Cummings has influenced thousands of poets to carry on with his expression, which is what he had hoped for. The wide range of writing style that Cummings included while composing his poems gave him the title of originality. While some of his poetry is free verse (with no concern for rhyme or meter), many have a recognizable sonnet structure of 14 lines, with an intricate rhyme scheme. E.E. Cummings poem, Fame Speaks, is an example of one of his more formal poems. The rhyme scheme is an example of a petrarchan sonnet. The sonnet Fame Speaks talks about how E.E. Cummings wants to be remembered as a great poet and not forgotten in the future. On the other hand, a number of his poems feature a typographically cheerful style,

Alfred Lord Tennyson was a poet during the 1800 s and during the industrial revolution. He was one of twelve children born in his family. He was a sensitive kid that was in love with charming words. After the death of Tennyson s friend Arthur Hallam dies, it gives Tennyson motivation to write several poems relating his death, including Ulysses. The loss of Hallam, recently engaged to marry Tennyson s sister Cecilia, dealt a serious blow to Tennyson. The opportunity to work typically male dominated jobs in urban areas occurred during the World War Two Era because as men were drafted in order to fight the war overseas, women were needed to work in factories and step away from desk jobs in order to keep the economy running and to produce items needed to fight the war (R). Although there was a significant increase in the number of women who worked in the manufacturing field during World War II, ads that were posted for women were likely not to be for said manufacturing jobs. The need for the economy to remain stable through the duration of the war made it more socially acceptable for women to work in manufacturing, utilities, and transportation. • 15. network processor Essay What are the advantages and disadvantages of network processors, such as hubs, switches, routers, and gateways? Well the advantages of hubs are they allow nodes to connect to one another that will create a physically attached network and a less expensive than other network devices while being easy to setup. But being an easy to use device that broadcast to all ports can be really unsecured for many applications. Lastly the bandwidth is shared by all the PC s connected to the hub which slows down the connection between all machines attached to it and can form bottlenecks. Next we have, switches that have many advantages. The greatest would be the ability to support multiple VLAN s. Compared to a hub it is a smarter device and still easy... Thomas Robert Malthus was the first economist to start the theory of population and the idea of overpopulation. He wrote his views and explanation about population and its consequences in his essay on Principles of Populationwhich was published in 1798. The book explained the relationship between food and population, and their growth patterns. His views on the theory of overpopulation and its impact influenced many political economists and earned economics the label of the dismissal science . Malthus was concerned by the condition of poverty in the British cities during his time and the increase of population in the industrializing societies. The main idea of Malthus theory was to maintain balance between the population growthand the food for human existence, as the human population tends to grow quicker than the power in the earth to produce subsistence. Malthus was the first economists to present the views and ideas on the matter of population growth and its effect on food and the surroundings. According to Malthus Theory, human population grows exponentially at a geometric rate i.e. 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, and so on, doubling the number at each time period, whereas food production grow in much slower rate than the population, which grows at an arithmetic rate i.e. 1, 2, 3, 4, and so on. Thus, Malthus shows that population grows much faster than the

She writes this history for several reasons. First, she writes it to change the negative perception of the history of Central Asia that we know through the annals of its neighbors. By explaining the history of the region through the eyes of its own occupants, it rids the history of any distorted views from neighboring civilizations. She uses the comparison of trying to examine the life of the Atlantic Ocean by studying the ecology of Europe. Another perception Whitfield attempts to overcome is that of the present day Silk Road. The Soldier s Tale is a very bloody account of what life was like. For twenty five years, Seg Lhaton, a Tibetan soldier, had been at battle. The Silk Road was his home during this time. The Tibetan army controlled a large region of the Silk Road between Sogdiana and China. They blocked all trade and diplomatic missions through that region. They only way trade could persist was to go another route through Uighur territory. They, however, charged tolls for safe passage. China and Tibet were at war for years. Many battles were fought that resulted in much blood shed. The story of these battles gives a better insight as to what happened, rather than simply spitting out facts about who won. Whitefield also uses this story to describe some of the harsh conditions along the road. She mentioned that at some points water was extremely scarce. However, at other times there were major floods that acted as major barriers. Often dividing the Chinese from the Tibetans, and postponing a battle. There was also a story about a Chinese officer who lost his foot to frostbite while traveling through the mountains. In the end of the story, Seg Lhaton has to travel over 1,500 miles to get back to his home. The Princess s Tale shows a lot of the harsh conditions that one would face when traveling on the Silk Road. Princess Taihe journey begins traveling

  • 23. Nuclear Power Supplies A Significant Part Of Current... MOX Title Background: Nuclear power supplies a significant portion of current energy demands. One of the newer advances in nuclear fuel is Mixed Oxide (MOX) fuel. MOX is a mixture of UO2 and PuO2. Both of these starting materials can be recovered from spent traditional nuclear fuel [1]. As such, MOX provides a method for reducing waste generated during the operation of a nuclear reactor. MOX fuel is currently in use in Europe, Russia and Japan [2]. The United States is in the process of developing next generation nuclear reactors which can employ MOX. Due to the importance of MOX fuel, important research is currently being to both understand the principles governing MOX, and how to enhance its performance. MOX fuel is comprised of UO2 and PuO2. The UO2 is acquired either from naturally occurring uranium oxide, or recovered from the spent fuel of a traditional nuclear reactor. Plutonium metal is produced by the U 238 during operation of the nuclear reactor [1]. The Pu must then be converted to PuO2. The first step in producing PuO2 is to dissolve the recovered Pu in HNO3 HF to get Pu(NO3)4. Once the Pu(NO3)4 is generated, a few different methods can be used to acquire PuO2. The most commercially used method involves the precipitation of plutonium oxalate. The Pu(NO3)4 is conditioned with hydrogen peroxide to produce Pu(lV). Next, an excess of oxalic acid is added to reduce the solubility. The oxalate is then left to decompose to oxide which can then be filtered and dried

Alex Bailey from The Land of Stories The Enchantress Returns had to save the world by defeating the malevolent Enchantress. However, all three were diligent in working hard to achieve their goals because they wanted to get home and be with the people they loved. The poem, The Song of Wandering Aengus, states, Though I am old with wandering Through hollow lands and hilly lands, I will find out where she has gone, And kiss her lips and take her hands (Yeats 18 20). This explains that Aengus was going to devote his life to finding the girl he loves. According to the author of The Song of Wandering Aengus, Though I am old with wandering (Yeats 17). This shows that Aengus was getting older and older while trying to find the goal, but still, he had no luck. Based on what is in the text, And kiss her lips and take her hands; (Yeats 20). Simply stated, false memory is the propensity to account normal occurrences as being a fraction of a key experience that in actuality was not an element of that experience (Holliday, Brainerd Reyna). False memories are something nearly everyone experience. Furthermore, false memoryis defined as placed together, constructed representations of mental schemas that are incorrect (Solso, MacLin MacLin, 2008). The rate that participants recall this false decoy is alarming. Researchers have provided several explanations to explain for the false memories in the DRM paradigm (Dehon, Laroi Van der Linden, 2011). This participation was based on the unique ideas of citizenship, of free people running the affairs of state, and of equality for all citizens before the law. Political participation in Greek city states was much wider than in Persia, but it varied considerably between city states and over time. Early in Greek history, only the wealthy and wellborn had the rights of full citizenship, but middle and lower class men gradually obtained these rights in some city states.
