This document examines the geotechnical characteristics of sediments in the near shore sector off the east coast of India, particularly in Andhra Pradesh and Pondicherry. It presents findings from integrated offshore investigations, categorizing sediments into open sea, deltaic, and minor rivers/stream domains, and discusses variations in parameters such as wet bulk density, specific gravity, and plasticity limits among these domains. The study emphasizes the implications of these geotechnical properties for port and harbor development, highlighting the importance of understanding sediment characteristics in relation to engineering practices.
