Curriculum
Development
in the
Philippines
Standard Practice
Along with the curriculum design, an
implementation scheme has to be
planned and designed which includes
the following:
1. Human and physical resources
(e.g. visual aids/instructional media
facilities)
2. Schedule (Time frame/Gantt Chart)
3. Monitoring strategy (Activity/Performance
Log)
Levels of Decision-making
Deciding

on what subjects to include in the
curriculum are results of state legislation
and national policies. Some of decisions
follow the thrust of the Department of
Education (DepEd)/Commision on Higher
Education (CHED) for public schools.

For

private
schools,
the
teachers’
preferences becomes the basis for choosing
the focus of the classroom instruction
based on the vision and mission of the
school.
Decision-making
Prior

to its full implementation of the
curriculum, the curriculum developer
takes full consideration in determining
the following areas of concern:
1.Cultural values
2.Characteristics of the learner
3.Teaching-learning principles
4.Pilot-testing
5.valuation
