1. Crook - BBFC Rating
There are a range of different ratings that can be given for a film. This ranges from a film being a U which
stands for Universal, this means anyone can view this film as there isn't a age restriction on it, then there are
films that are rated 18, that can only be viewed by people who are 18 and over. For our upcoming Crime film
trailer which is titled 'Crook' we have decided to rate our film a '15'. The first reason for this is because there will
be an excessive amount of violence throughout the film, for example in 'Crook' we plan to have a scene where it
shows Detective George Foster walking into a Crime scene where there will be blood. This is something that
should not be viewed to anyone of a younger age and therefore we feel a 15 is a suitable age rating for our film.
However this isn't the only thing thing we plan to include in our film, we also will be using strong language
throughout the film and this is something we may choose to include in the trailer for 'Crook'. Strong language is
another feature of 15 rated films, however there are some strong language terms that may not be suitable for
15 rated films, this is something we will consider when writing the script/screenplay for our film/and or trailer.
The final two aspects that we plan to include from the 15 BBFC rating is both threat and imitable behaviour,
these are things that we will be including in our film, especially threat since the film is based around a murderer
named 'The Gripwell Killer' who will be attacking victims throughout the film and this is something we will also
see in the trailer for 'Crook'.
However there are some things that won't be included in our film that can be showed in 15 rated films, for
example we do not plan on using nudity, sex, discrimination or drugs in 'Crook'. The reason for this is because
we do not feel it is necessary to include these conventions from 15 rated films in our Crime film. One may argue
that drugs are a big part of Crime films, since most Crime films are based around a big drug operation that may
be taken down by the police, however this is something that we have opted against in 'Crook'. Overall I believe
that a 15 rating is the perfect rating for our Crime film 'Crook'. We will not be making it a 12 rated film since in
12 rated films only moderate, sporadic strong language can be used and as I mentioned previously we will be
including some strong language in 'Crook'.
