1. How did you use mediatechnologiesinconstruction,research and planningstages?
Research & Planning:
There were manyinstancesof mediatechnologiesusedwithinthe Research& Planningstage of the
projectforA2 Mediastudies,theyrange fromthe Physical equipmentusedtothe actual software
and programsusedto produce the Research& Planningpiecesof work.Firstwhatwill be done is
statedthe physical piecesof equipment usedtoeitherproduce some of the workorallow the use of
certainsoftware tobe able to therefore produce the work.
DesktopComputer:Thisisthe essentialbitof kitthatwas neededtocomplete all myresearchand
planningpieces,itiswhatwasused to run programsusedto create work,and access the internet
where the Blogformediacouldbe accessedand informationcouldbe gatheredonwebsitestoo. The
desktopcomputerthatI usedisa verygood PCspeckedoutfor Mid-level gamingandvideoediting,
and so ithandledall myneedsjustfine andwasexcellentpairedwithWindows10and got the job
done verywell. Iusedthe specificationsof myPCto an advantage,andwasable to editvery
smoothlyinsoftware,loadandcreate documents,aswell astransferdata.
NikonD3000 Camera: Thiswasthe photocamera thatI usedto take all the picturesthatI neededto
for the blogposts,whethertheywere picturesforexamplethe Storyboard,orjustsome sleekand
cool lookingphotographytogowitha postit came inveryhandy.The camera producesverygood
shots,and soI usedit wheneverIneededapicture of somethingphysical,forexampleanyworkthat
had beendone onpaperand notthroughmedia. Thiscamera hada verygoodpicture quality,
therefore Iuseditto take veryunique photographsforthe blog, spicingthe contentupmore and
givingthe eachpostsa more professional look.
Office Documents(Word,PowerPoint):These were essentialsoftwarethatIhad to use in orderto
be able to produce the contentand displayitalso,now Ihave Office 2016 installedontomyPC,and
so I couldutilise Office toitsfull potential andmainlyuse bothWordandPowerPointtoproduce
work.The Wordsoftware isveryuseful forwritinglongpiecesof work,anditis goodat displaying
textina professional andeasyformat.Itisextremelyeasytouse (userfriendly),andiscompatible
withpresentationsitessuchas SlideShare inwhichIcan therefore displayaworddocumenton.
PowerPointalike Word,isaveryprofessional andeasyprogramthatallowsworktobe presented
clearly,PowerPointisespecially goodasthe layoutcanbe adapteda lotfurtherthanthat of Word,
and itis more for the presentationandslideshow capabilities.Thisprogramisalsoveryuserfriendly,
and iscompatible withawhole arrayof websitessuchas SlideShare. Iusedthe Office Documentsto
complete numerouspiecesof work,some topresent,andsome tojustdraftin.
Adobe Photoshop:Thiswasanotherapplication/software whichIused massivelywithinmy
Research& Planningstage of the project,thiswasmygo to program wheneverIhad to create and
presentsomethingeitherinapicture,or ina PowerPointpresentation.Photoshopisextremely
useful,andnowthatI have beenusingif forsuch a longtime,Iam verygoodat usingit.So for
example withinmostof the PowerPointpresentationsthatwere createdforthe R&Pstage,I created
each individual slide withinPhotoshop,thiswayIcan so easilygetthe layoutIwantand everything
comestogethermuchquickerandwithlesshassle inthe program. I usedphotoshopcombinedwith
imagesthatI had createdor takenmyself,andalongwiththe draftsfromoffice documentspieced
slideshowsandwhatnottogethergreatly.

2. Trailer Construction:
There were quite afewinstancesof mediatechnologiesusedwithinthe TrailerConstructionstage of
the project,rangingof course from the Physical Equipmenttothe software usedtoeditandcarry
out the construction.
Toshiba1080p Camcorder:This videocamerawasusedto film majorityof the footage forthe trailer,
the beginningconstructionsof the trailerwastorecord the footage itself,andthiswasthe main
videocamerausedforthe trailer.Thiscamera wasverylightweightandcoupledwitha goodtripod,
was immenselygoodattakingfootage inall typesof lighting.Thiscamerawasusedtofilmthe
joustingscenesaswell asthe Greenscreenfootage too. Iwas able touse thiscamera effectivelydue
to itslightweightpropertiesmeaningIcouldfilmlonglengthswithoutatripod,andit wasalsovery
clearon the screen,soI couldsee the footage well asitwasrecording.
GoPro Hero4: Thiswas anothercamerathat was usedto filmsome of the footage thatcan be seen
withinthe trailer,this wasusedinthe scenesof the setting,sothe castle scenes,anditproduced
some goodfootage due to itsfisheye wide angle lens.Thisgave aperfectaurorafor the trailerin
some of the shotsand helpedthe greenscreenfootage overlapmore smoothly. Iwasable touse
thisveryeffectivelywithinlarge historicsites,catchinginall the scenicviews,andcastle wallsasit
were. The accessorieswiththisdevice meantthatIcouldget shotsthat I wouldnotbe able to if it
were a standardvideocamcorder,whichmeantIcouldget some unique castle footage.
Greenscreen& Lights:Thiswas a piece of equipmentthatcanbe usedto create special effects,ive
ownedthe full greenscreensetforafew monthsand wasalwaysplanningonutilisingitwithinthe
project,forexample withinthe trailer,Iusedthe greenscreentoestablishthe mainprotagonist
withinhisarmour, andto finishthe trailertooasyou can notice whenwatched.Ithinkthatthiswas
a veryeffective andcosteffective wayatproducing some goodlevelelementsof special effects
whichbothwork andlookgood. The greenscreensetupalongwiththe umbrellalightboxesallowed
for some greatfootage,itallowedthe use of special effectsandmeantthatI coulddo thingswithout
havingto evengoto a locationforfilming.
Adobe Premiere:Thiswasthe maineditingsoftwareusedtoeditandproduce the trailer,Ihave
usedthissoftware/programbefore,itisveryeasytouse once youhave usedit fora while and
producesexcellenteffectsandresults.Thiswasthe onlysoftware usedforeditingasitcoulddo
anythingandeverythingthatIneededwhenitcame toediting. Withinthissoftware Icouldutilise
greenscreentechnologyandcreate some greatoverlaysthatlooksverygoodinthe trailer. Premiere
was usedforall the editingneedsthatIrequired,it couldgetall the special effects,filters,andaudio
mixerrighttothe point,veryuseful and

protagonistandwhatwouldbe the mainimage withinthe poster,thiswasanexcellentcameraof
choice,takinga greathighqualityphotoforthe Poster’smainimage. Thiscamerawas used because
it hadmassive potential forhighqualityphotos,verygoodandeasycamerato use,and supereasy
to transferphotostakenwithanSD card.
GreenScreen:Thiswasanotherexcellentbitof kit,thiswasusedas the backgroundforthe Poster
mainimage,byusingthe greenscreen,the mainimage canbe croppedoutveryeasilyandturned
intoa vector usingPhotoshop.The greenscreenisakeypiece of equipmentatgettingamainimage

3. that reallyistrimmedandallowsthe image tobe placedonanotherbackgroundwithease looking
veryflushandprofessional. The greenscreenreallyallowedforthatcleancut image,Ithinkthat by
usingthe greenscreenforthe postershoot,I wasable to achieve the bestmainimage possible.
What was goodaboutthe greenscreenthatI usedisthat it wasverysimple tosetupandI coulddo
so withinmyownhousehold,meaningitwasa verygoodpiece of equipmenttouse.
Photoshop:Thiswasthe mainand onlysoftware usedtoconstructthe Poster,itwas usedto create
the poster,the stepsare as seenonthe blogbut there are manyways that I usedandutilised
photoshoptocreate the posterfor the mediaproject. Photoshopwaskeytothe productionof the
Movie Poster,itwasthe maincomponentneeded,anditwasnot onlyeasytouse but I got the best
resultspossiblebyusingthisprogram.Photoshopwasusedtocutthe greenscreenawayfromthe
mainimage,andturn it intoa vector,and everythingthatthe posteras can be seenonthe blogwas
done on Photoshop.
Magazine Cover Construction:
NikonD3000 Camera: Thiswasthe cameraof choice whenitcame to takingthe photoof the main
protagonistandwhatwouldbe the mainimage within the Magazine cover,thiswasan excellent
camera of choice,takinga great highqualityphotoforthe Magazines mainimage. Thiscamera
allowedforthe highqualityimage thatwasgotin the end,I usedthe capabilitiesof the camerato its
fullestinordertobe able to getthe mostcrispestandsharp shotoverall.
GreenScreen:Was utilisedtotake the mainimage forthe magazine cover,allowedthe image tobe
croppedmore cleanlyinPhotoshop,andalsomeantthatthe image if needbe couldbe putin a
video,createdasa vector. As statedbeforehandforthe poster,itrunsthe same forthe magazine
shoot,the screenwasveryeasyto use,and once useditproducedan image whichwasveryeasyto
crop and turn intoa vector. The greenscreenwasable to be usedalso,whichmeantthat no
travellinghadtobe done for the Magazine covermainimage,italsomade the actor veryhappyas
he didnot have to trope’saround in thatheavyarmour for toolong.

to create the Magazine,the stepsare as seenonthe blogbut there are many waysthat I usedand
utilisedphotoshoptocreate the Magazine Coverforthe mediaproject. Now Photoshopwasthe key
to achievingthe greatMagazine Coverthathas beenmade inthe endfor the project,Iutilisedit to
itsfull potential anduse the knowledge Ihave of the software toproduce some reallygoodwork.
Shapesandall sorts of textcouldbe createdandplacedanywhere,Photoshopwasreallyusefulat
gettinganMagazine accurate cover layout,itissuch an easysoftware touse once you getthe hang
of itand I believethatIusedthe software verywell toproduce the finishedproduct.
