KFC was founded in the 1930s in Kentucky by Harland Sanders. Its vision is to be a leading integrated food services group in the ASEAN region, delivering consistent quality products and excellent customer service. However, when KFC entered India in 1995, it faced controversies as regulatory authorities found its chickens contained high levels of MSG and it faced protests over animal treatment. To solve these problems, KFC had to shut all but one Indian outlet but reentered quietly in 2003 with strategies and menus more suitable to Indian consumers, allowing it to expand successfully since then.
