Beetroot-And-Lunch Ideas
Chapter 4: Quick Salad and Lunch Ideas Recipe #6: Beetroot, Carrot and Radish Salad on Watercress
with Walnut Dressing Serves 2 Ingredients: For the dressing  4 Tbsp. extra virgin olive oil  2 Tbsp.
freshly squeezed lemon juice  1 piece, small garlic clove, grated  1 tsp. Dijon mustard (for a
spicier mix, substitute English mustard)  ½ tsp. honey  salt, to taste  white pepper, to taste  ¼
cup walnuts For the salad  1 piece, large raw sugar beets  1 piece, small carrot  1 piece, large
radish  4 slices halloumi (or any grilling cheese like: kefalotyri, queso panela, or provolone)  2
handfuls, generous watercress, rinsed, drained Directions: 1. For the dressing: in a dry skillet, toast the
walnuts until slightly brown and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In a mason jar (or any container with a tight fitting lid,) add in the remaining ingredients. Seal the jar
and shake well to combine. Set aside. 3. For the salad: place two generous handfuls of watercress on a
serving plate. Place in the fridge to chill. 4. Peel the beetroot, radish, and carrot. Using Blade C, turn
the vegetables into thin zoodles. Place in the fridge to chill. 5. In a non stick pan, gently grill the
halloumi slices until brown on both sides, about 3 to 4 minutes. Allow the halloumi to cool before
slicing into thin strips. 6. To assemble: pour in 2 tablespoons of the dressing into the bowl of
vegetables. Add in the chopped walnuts and sliced halloumi. Toss well to combine. Place salad on the
chilled plate of watercress. Add more dressing, if desired. Serve immediately. Salad tip: always dress
your salad greens at the last minute, then serve immediately. This prevents vegetables and fruits from
turning limp and soggy. If you are not sure if the salad will be eaten right away, you can toss the salad
at the table, and serve the dressing on the side. Another tip to preserve the crunchiness of leafy greens
is to spin dry (use a salad spinner) the vegetables after rinsing. This quickly removes most of the
moisture without damaging the fragile

Occupation In Auschwitz
There were thousands and thousands of people being brought into the concentration camps. There had
to be a way for them to keep everything organized. The people in command would register every
single Jew before they were put to work or sent to the buildings. After the prisoners were unloaded
from the truck or train, they were stripped of their personal belongings and clothes, and then they were
given a new uniform. Most of the time they were also shaved. The prisoners were then taken to be
inscribed with their number stamp and were also demanded to stand still while taking their picture
from three sides (Camp System). That was the painless part. Now came the beatings, demands,
torture, and starvation. The routine that was taken in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There were different jobs for different people. Depending on your gender, strength, or age you were
were suited with a task that fitted your physical abilities. There were even special jobs, such as being
the ones in charge of taking the prisoners belongings when they arrived, running the crematorium,
performing the punishments, working in factories, working on construction projects, running farms,
and working in coal mines (Auschwitz). Other lower class men would do pointless things such as
move sandbags, extract and carry heavy stones, dig trenches, etc. ( Normal Day ). Women had
different expectations set on them. They were usually told to sew, cook, work in fields, work in
factories, etc. If you were older, you were usually either experimented on or killed. Same thing
followed for the children ( Holocaust ). If you ever slowed down on what you were doing, you were
punished or killed. It wasn t easy to stay awake and keep working in the cold weather when you were
tired and hungry. The punishments differed depending on the situation, but there was plenty to choose
from. There was flogging , pillar , confinement in standing cell, poor food, cremation, shot,
experiments, special jobs, and many more (Daily Life). You could have been punished for many
reasons, but the two main reasons was for spilling food, or slacking on the

Methamphetamine Argumentative Analysis
Neil Postman believes the world focuses on entertainment values and not on real world issues. These
beliefs are true; the argument is well qualified because in this world, many Americans focus their
ideals on celebrities instead of aspects of importance like drug abuse. People invest the time in the
material objects and celebrities whereas there are plenty of other problems in this world that
Americans seem to ignore or refute.
Methamphetamine is known for causing brain damage, but people tend to disagree on this concept that
methamphetamine has no dangerous effects on the cognitive ability. In fact, Carl Hart, an associate
professor of psychology, adamantly disagrees to the dangers reported by media and other research
professionals (Merino). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because physicians believed that cocaine was a cure for heart disease, they promoted its use, and a
major soft drink company Coca Cola used this drug substance in their soft drinks (Blachford, Krapp).
It was not until more research was concluded and publicized that the real effects of cocaine were made
public. It was determined that cocaine stimulates the central nervous system which increased the heart
rate, respiration, blood pressure, and body temperature (Blachford, Krapp). Cocaine in the natural
coca leaf state is not, whatsoever, addictive nor does this drug create a euphoric reaction in the user,
but when chemically altered, the drug is addictive (Blachford, Krapp). In the process of using cocaine,
the dopamine and serotonin receptors are disrupted. These specific receptors affect one s mood,
memory, and appetite (O Sullivan). Also bupropion is a prescribed medication that people use as a
mimic for cocaine (Koshy). Bupropion goes by the name of poor man s cocaine because of the
inexpensive price of $2.50 per pill and the cocaine like high the user receives (Koshy). Again Postman
s argument proves itself true with the history that surrounds cocaine use: people were unaware of the
side effects of cocaine use due to lack of knowledge about the drug. Referring to Brave New World,
soma causes the people to [embark] for lunar eternity just as cocaine stimulates the

Comparison The song Give Peace a Chance is basically asking America to be peaceful and to actually
try and be peaceful. America is constantly going back to back in war and people from the late 60s and
70s were tired of fighting with people for little reasons. The song is also saying the government should
give peace a chance. Just like in the new article by Joan Herbers, the protesters were demanding

It even matches the article of the first televised war. It is basically a song about soldiers marching to
their deaths. How handsome they are in their suits, young men preparing and marching for the
country, for war, for death. The article explains what it was like on the field with the camera crew,
preparing for battle with NBC news. It was a whole new experience, but I think the soldiers were glad
they were being recorded. It shows what the government refuses to show, the harsh reality and
treatment of war. The difference in two is detail, the article is way more detailed in what happened
with the camera crew, while the song is just a catchy tune but also reality. Also, the song may just be
what the artist heard about the war, but to me since the name is Handsome Johnny. I feel as though it s
about what the artist sees on television. The article explains that it wasn t just Americans suffering at
war but everyone was, and the cameras caught that.

Perks of Being a Wallflower
The Perks of Being a Wallflower As teens or young adults you are still trying to figure out who you
are and what you have to offer the world. There is so much pressure around teen s every day of their
lives. They do not know what is the right or the wrong choice, but certain influences and relationships
help determine the choices they make. They need guidance and someone they can talk to, like a non
parental adult. This is an adult who wants to make a difference in the life of teens, and is someone
they can rely on for support. Non parental adults can come from many different socially defined

I Don t Take It !
Oh, is that all? Harry knelt down, scrounging around beneath the bedding. He withdrew the diadem
and then paused, seeming to deliberate for a minute before shoving it at Draco. Take it. Go ahead, I
won t stop you. What? Take it! Why would you... Draco s eyes narrowed as he backed up a couple
steps. You knew we were listening, didn t you? Just take the bloody thing, Look, I don t know what
you re up to, but... Severus had only been half listening, distracted by the crashes and screams coming
from the other side of the room. Abruptly, he jerked his head around, giving Draco a sharp look. Don t
take it to him. Just like that, Draco abandoned his suspicions toward Harry, focusing on him instead.
Why not? Because it s a fake, Severus said, a mere replica of the item the Dark Lord wishes to
possess. If you present him with such an unworthy object, he will not be pleased. Snatching the
diadem out of Harry s hand, Draco backed up a couple steps. You re lying. You just want to take it to
him yourself! I assure you, I do not. Trying to take all the credit, just like you did last year! He asked
me to do it, and you had to keep butting in, didn t you? Never even gave me a chance! You couldn t
have done it, Draco. I could have! If you d just stayed out of the bloody way... Harry must ve known

Speech On Plastics
Year 10 English
Language Analysis Essay
In a response to a recent rise in the number of plastic bags, debate has resurfaced in the media
regarding the extensive use and deposition of plastic bags. Stakeholders which include the Australian
Retailers Association, governments of different states and various legislations have implemented
measures to reduce the total number of plastic bags that are being consumed and eternally
contaminated. The wider implications include, soaring death rates of a number of marine animals and
the exponential cost on recycling plastic bags. In the opinion piece titled, Forget, reuse and recycle.
Let s flat out reject plastic bags, which appeared on 31 August 2017 in the Courier Mail, author Jane
Fynes Clinton contends in a controlled and authoritative tone that the use of plastic bags are an
ongoing concern and change that is necessary is disregarded. Dr Clinton has put forward this article to
citizens of Australia, local supermarkets, governments and institutes.
Establishing with outrage and melancholy, Clinton argues that plastic bags do not just contaminate the
oceans, but also violate the environmental terms and affect many marine organisms. The author s
convincing use of active voice, highlighting that, change is coming, but we are hastening frustratingly,
not only asserts a sense of guilt in the reader, but also seeks to reinforce that we as humans continue to
oscillate on whether we should protect marine life that we need for the future. It is now becoming
ubiquitous. In a frustrated manner, the author employs the reader s sense of fear that, the changes are
going to bite hard some creatures. This phrase embeds a a frank sentiment in the audience who are
stubborn to change and incline to their negative opinions, while also urging our support the contention
by creating an appeal to authority. Moreover, the context is heightened by her reference to
supermarkets chains announcing a bag ban. Moreover, in the following sentence, It is frightening,
appeals to the audience s sense of fear. This encourages the reader to think about the consequences of
the millions of plastic bags floating in our precious oceans. The inclusion of the image of a person

Abstract
This experiment uses Co(salen) as a model compound illustrating the uptake of oxygen in
hemoglobin. SalenH2 was prepared as the intermediate, and reacted with hydrated cobalt to prepare
Co(salen). Using Co(salen) the oxygen up take was tested. The synthesis of SalenH2 produced 0.65 g.
The percent yield of salenH2 was 116% on the filter paper and 105% after transferring salenH2 to a
vial. The melting point of salenH2, was 128 oC. The color of salenH2 was yellow. This was all
expected from salenH2. The synthesis of Co(salen) produced 0.232 g. The percent yield of Co(salen)
was 88.22% on the filter paper and 86.1 % after transferring the Co(salen) to a vial. Co(salen) ... Show

Timothy Lloyd Essay
It was an early morning on July 31, 1996 when a worker logged in to his computer and triggered a
malicious code that instructed the system to delete the software that Omega Engineering company ran
in it is manufacturing operations. The criminal behind this was a man named Timothy Lloyd. He
worked for 11 years and as some point during his working experience with the company, he became
the network s administrator. He was part of the creation of this network, a system he knew all too well.
Three weeks after he was fired, this malicious software code was activated. He created six lines of
code, which they called a time bomb to detonate without him having to be present. This so called
bomb when triggered, was set to delete critical manufacturing software, bringing the file server down,
also bringing the hub of the network down and costing the company millions of dollars. They
designed and created software for the NASA and the U.S. Navy., so they were also affected by this
sabotage. They eventually had to lay off 80 workers due to damage of this sabotage. Lloyd also made
sure he took the backup tapes and formatted them, deleting everything and making sure nothing was
saved. He did this after receiving a call from the Secret Service. The Omega ... Show more content on

and therefore, nobody would know what was really happening. The only thing he did wrong was
keeping the hard drive with the design of the code on his personal hard drive. It was the reason why

China And Its Regulation System
Despite what many people think, China and its regulation system (limited market access) had made it
difficult for foreign banks to provide their services. For instance, foreign banks were licensed to
provide corporate banking service only to foreign invested enterprises. Few licensed braches were
allowed to operate as foreign banks. Indeed, foreign banks need licenses from central bank. However,
the bank´s senior knew this would be a slow process since the China state banks were usually run by
bureaucrats and unable to set their own deposits and interest rate level.
Citibank and its competitive advantages rely on its unique strategy to exclude any type of joint

Notwithstanding their success with this new system, Citigroup executives were not interested in the

Both fallacies of false cause and accident belong to Faulty generalizations mean to reach a conclusion
from feeble premises. Contrasting fallacies of significance, in fallacies of faulty induction, the
premises are associated with the conclusions yet merely weakly support the conclusions and a faulty
generalization is thus formed (Cohen, Copi, McMahon, 2011).
Are they really the same fallacy, are they entirely distinct, or they related in some, but not all ways?

It is the confusing use of a term with additional than one meaning or intellect (by glossing over which
meaning is planned at a specific time). It generally happens with polysemic words (words with
numerous meanings).
Albeit in mutual parlance it is used in a diversity of situations, when discussed as a fallacy,
equivocation only happens when the arguer makes a word or expression working in two (or more)
dissimilar senses in an argument seem to have the same meaning through. It is, therefore, distinct from

How is the theme of perseverance in Hidden figures and Bend it like Beckham used to influence
viewers and how are cinematic techniques applied to achieve this? Through the use of cinematic

demonstrates that hope for change is needed in society as hope can build the momentum for an

Cash Dispenser With Finger Sensor
CASH DISPENSER WITH FINGER SENSOR
PROBLEM STATEMENT
According to World Bank, roughly 2 billion people around the world do not have access to formal
sources of banking and financial services, or more than 50% of small and mediumsized businesses
(SMEs) worldwide lack adequate access to credit.
Despite the India s meteoric GDP growth rate (about 9%), poverty in India is still pervasive;
especially in rural areas where 70% of India s 1.2 billion population live. It is one of the fastest
growing economies in the world and yet its wealth is hardly redistributed across the population.
Nearly 70 per cent of Indian villagers do not have a bank account, and tapping them would require
multiple banking channels. There are about 73,000 such villages that have no formal banking channel.
In case of government aid, a dedicated bank personal has to travel villages to provide the money or
villagers have to travel to banks at urban areas to get the money.
This finger sensor cash dispenser is an attempt to help the villages in getting the money and aid with
biometrics and can help in less fraud and better services. The concept on creating a
Government/NGO AID Money dispenser for developing countries where most of the people are

Ernest Shackleton
1.0 Introduction: Shackleton, who died in 1922 at the age of around forty seven, certainly not achieved
his objective of traversing the continent of Antarctica but remembered these days for something more
astonishing. In recent years, polar explorer Sir Ernest Shackleton has been celebrated through books,
autobiography, films, and a major museum display (Lagace, 2004). Here this satiated journal attempts
to critically explore and relate his leadership chronicle, activities on the ice that have a lot to instruct
leaders of modern business on basis of three concern pieces of answers. 2.0 Part One: Shackleton and
his crew persisted by facing each disappointment with new tactics and new forms of organization. As

It s not just the concern for people but the degree to which the concern for task and the concern for

their plans, he insisted on observing regular routine. Shackleton knew that his men must remain
mentally strong so that they would have the physical ability to act and perform quickly when the need
arose. He clearly defined his initiating, organizing, clarifying, information gathering skills as task
oriented leader entangled with observing, listening, encouraging, mentoring skills of people oriented

Performance management is about creating a culture that encourages the continuous improvement of

How College Dating Has Changed My Life
College dating has changed a lot since my parents went to school. Courtship and chivalry are dead, or
extremely hard to find, and a majority of college students are involved in the hookup culture. A
hookup is a nonromantic encounter with a friend or acquaintance that involves an unspecified degree
of sexual interaction, (Carpenter and DeLamater 129). When I first started college, I had a very nice
relationship that lasted about 3 months. When we both decided to just be friends, it dawned on me that
I could sleep with whomever I wanted to. During my second semester in college, I more than doubled
the amount of guys I slept with in high school and I know why I did it. I let myself engage in hookup
culture because I wanted to rebel against my parents, have some sense of intimacy without
commitment, experience new things, and it was so much fun to brag about with my girlfriends.
However, after a while I began to miss what I had during my first semester, someone who actually
cared about me and wanted to be with me for more than just sex. I often hear numerous complaints in
college about not being able to find a significant other. This new style of dating, or hookup culture,
lacks a sense of respect and doesn t allow for an emotional closeness with those students find
attractive. It encourages college students to suppress their emotions in order to gain sexual intimacy
and that wanting a committed relationship is a thing of the past. Why has courtship and traditional

The Importance Of Human Nature In Cory Doctorow s Little...
Cory Doctorow s Little Brother is an excellent novel that combines technology and rebellion all into
one book. A group of teenagers living in San Francisco become prisoners of a terrorist attack
investigation when they are arrested and brought to an island by the Department of Homeland
Security. They are treated awfully despite not having committed a single crime. The main character,
Marcus, deems it is in his hands to take down the DHS and get revenge for what they ve done. The
Bay Bridge bombing and terrorist attack, the awful treatment of the characters by the DHS, and
Marcus good efforts to seek revenge, all have an impact on human nature. Doctorow s novel shows
how acts of conflict can expose the cruelty of human nature as they can inflict tremendous pain on the
vulnerable, but sometimes they can even cause a positive outcome. Organizing a terrorist attack
reveals one s true human nature simply by having created such a vicious and cruel conflict. Within the
beginning of the novel, the Bay Bridge in San Francisco was bombed and thousands of people got
injured and many died. Having said that, one can infer just by recognizing the situation at hand, that
the person who orchestrated the attack, was not in a positive mental state. Marcus, a character in the
novel said, Terrorists don t hate landmarks or bridges or airplanes. They just want to screw stuff up
and make people scared (Doctorow 73). Marcus emphasizes in this line that terrorists reveal their

Descriptive Essay On A Summer Day
One hot summer s day in the last week of August, my family and I went camping all the way over in
Tennessee. But, every time we go on a trip like this a mystery pops up. But, then again mysteries can
also happen when you are not doing anything. So, it was just ordinary camping for now. It was just
going to be our family, but Elizabeth decided to invite Daniel Hoffman and Thomas Flipsbargen since
their parents were out of town. Ugh! They re really annoying boys, to me at least. Elizabeth doesn t
think they are annoying, and neither does April or Jamie, who by the way decided to come along as
well, so it may just be me. I do get kind of nervous around boys. We would be traveling 434.8 miles or
6 hours and 31 minutes in a van with only a little bit of luggage space, and only a few rest stops along
the way! And, then we would have to eat, and the kids might be noisy, and... There are a lot of
possibilities to consider when you are taking a big trip with numerous amounts of people. We were
going to take our trusty van, but, it only holds eight people and we had ten people coming along. We
planned to leave at six in the morning. We packed that night making sure to pack clothes, our tooth
brushes, brushes, and a few toys for Justin and Ellie, cooking necessities and other things. I slept
restlessly that night, my mind was wandering. What kind of mystery will be waiting for me? Will
there be one? Should I just go to sleep? Elizabeth finally rolled over in her bed and

Job Satisfaction Is Defined As The Positive Feeling Felt...
Job Satisfaction
Job Satisfaction is defined as the positive feeling felt by an individual about a job which results from
and evaluation of the job s characteristics (Robbins Judge, 2013). With an understanding of job
satisfaction we will look at and describe the issues of three individuals and their three different jobs.
Describing their job satisfactions, dislikes, and how all this relates to their performances on the job.
The three different jobs that are presented for consideration of job satisfaction are an accountant
position where Maria works, a Quality Control Manager for an insurance company, and this is where
Darell works, and finally we have a Retail Store Manager for an outdoor company where Mike works.
All three of these jobs have characteristics that can contribute to increased levels of job satisfaction.
All three of these jobs offer plenty of hours of work. This can lead to job stability and increase the
affective commitment that a person might have toward a job (Milligan, 2014). Maria s job as an
accountant gives her job satisfaction because she has intellectual abilities that allow her to do mental
thinking and reasoning. It could also be presumed that the Quality Control Manager and the Retail
Store Manager have the same intellectual abilities. For the Quality Control Manager position the
opportunity to travel all over the United States could produce job satisfaction. Finally the position of
the retail manager that Mike possesses gives job satisfaction

Finally, comparability requires the accounting information should be compared with each other. There
are two important aspects to illustrate it. On the one hand, compare aspects of an entity at one time
and over time. The entity is asked to adopt the same accounting policy unless some special situation.
The comparability quality characteristic can help financial report users comprehend the financial
condition, opening result and the trend of cash flow easily, and then compare the information during
different period. On the other hand, compare with different entities in the same accounting period. In
order to help analyzing financial condition and other alteration circumstances of different business
easily, the comparability principle require different business adopt the same accounting principle
about the same or similar transactions in the same accounting period. Today, comparability is
becoming one of the most indispensable and advantageous qualitative characteristics of accounting
information (Putra, 2009). Although the four qualitative characteristics are the most important link
between the accounting objectives and achieving the objectives, there are also some elements restrict
them. To begin with, accounting information has dubious quality itself, which affects the
understandability.

Jung-Typology Personality Assessment
Reflection on the Jung Typology Personality Assessment and DISC Leadership Assessment
While both the Jung Typology and the DISC s assessment varies, mostly the characteristics it read

intertwined within.
Through the Jung Typology assessment, my results were not surprising and mostly accurate. My
results came back as ISFJ, meaning I am more introverted than extroverted, more sensing than

The DISC assessment, similar to the Jung Typology, I felt was not as accurate and I found more to
disagree with. The DISC was more in depth, I thought. The DISC said that I was less decisive,
moderately interactive, highly stable, and extremely cautious. Once again the DISC assessment also
said I would prefer a stable work environment, and I still disagree with that one.
However, I believe it was spot on when it says that I like to analyze a situation before I act on a
decision and I am normally the quiet person in a heated debate. In the interactive category, I was
almost directly in the middle. However, the only true thing in this category is the fact that I prefer to
work alone, the rest were close, but I felt that they were not as explicit at the Jung
Typology. For the stability category, I had a pretty high score, which was not very surprising to me.
This category was pretty accurate, saying that I am patient with a wide variety of people and that I m
not great at letting things go. The cautious category was the highest score (99). This was almost 100%
accurate based on my personality. The only flaw I found was that it said I have

Economic Effects Of The Columbian Exchange
The Columbian Exchange brought diseases in the two countries and was also the forerunner for
eliminating Native Americans in North America, but Europe acquired new ways to develop their
economy further than what it already was. This discovery was what led to Europe s powers early on in
the 1400 s. Europe s discoveries led to the modernization of cultures along with great societies such as
the New World, which became the country it is today. The Columbian Exchange refers to the time
period in which the Native Americans of North America traded plants, animals, livestock, diseases,
and new modernized technology with the Europeans. Not only were these things spread between the
two nations, but the word was spread that North America was a new place for world to come and

wanting a part of it. These countries included England, Spain, and Portugal. The reasons behind them
not finding prosperity in this land was because it was unchartered and no one knew what the land
contained. The people struggled with adapting different and untried farming methods. Most of the
exploring that was done brought many issues between the Native Americans and the new coming

Personality According To Biological And Social...
My Little Brother s Personality According to Biological and Social Cognitive Theories When I was a
little girl, my parents were foster parents because they wanted to adopt another child. Throughout my
childhood, there were many children who would come stay with us for a few days, sometimes a few
weeks or sometimes a few months. When I was 9 years old, my older sister, Miranda, and I came
home from school and noticed a little tricycle in our front yard. We ran inside to meet this cute 17
months old little boy named Jordan. Jordan s biological mother was a substance abuser and she
continued to abuse while she was pregnant with him. We suspect that this resulted in some of the
learning and behavioral problems that he deals with daily. Jordan is now 15 years old. As he has
gotten older, we have noticed how his personality differs from the rest of our family s. I will be
defining his personality by applying Eysenck s Biological Theory, Temperament, and Bandura s Social
Cognitive Theory. Eysenck s Biological Theory Jordan has always been unapologetically annoying.
He scores high on the extraversion end of the first dimension. He is very social and rarely meets a
stranger. He is popular amongst his peers at school, which could mostly be because they have all been
going to school together since Kindergarten. He is in show choir, and he also runs for the Cross

Effects of Alcohol Abuse
Alcohol abuse
The term alcohol abuse in this case encompasses harmful use of alcohol and misuse of alcohol
resulting from dependence. The experience of alcohol abuse can have far reaching consequences on
the family, the community, and the nation. According to NIDA, drug and substance abuse costs the
nation $600 Billion every year. This cost factors in crime, healthcare, and lost productivity. Alcohol
accounts for 40% of this cost. It is, therefore, necessary, within the context of the family, to delve into
the treatment and support of people who abuse alcohol
The health profile of alcohol abusers is quite complex because it transcends gender, age, race, social
profile, and economic conditions. This means that the homeless adolescent might abuse alcohol and
the wealthy socialite may similarly abuse alcohol (NCETA, 2004). Therefore, the effects alcohol and
complications that health providers face when dealing with this group widely vary. However, it is
possible to paint a general picture of the health risks, challenges, and accompanying conditions.
Alcohol abusers have a higher risk for health problems than non users. Harmful drinking increases the
likelihood of developing cirrhosis, acute pancreatitis and some types of cancer such as breast cancer or
mouth cancer. Furthermore, excessive alcohol consumption puts young people and women at risk of
harm related to alcohol. In young people, it can hamper development and damage organs, while in
women may harm an unborn child

Ever since her birth in 1932 Dian Fossey has been facturated with all types of wildlife and when Dr.
Louis Leakey gave her the opportunity to travel to Africa and lead a long term field research, she
immediately accepted. During her time in Africa she would learn how to track and identify different
gorilla groups and identify the gorillas in each group. It would take some time but, sooner or later she
was gaining the gorillas trust by imitating the body language, eating habitats and the vocalizations of
the gorillas that she had studied. Throughout her stay she would deal with multiple poachers, that
would kill the gorillas she was studying even her favorite gorilla, Digit. Her way of dealing with the
poachers was that she would use what she calls active conservation, in which she would fight the
poachers face to face. She used active conservation because she was certain that the long term efforts
would eventually become useless because all the gorillas would be dead and there would be nothing to
save. What she did that was considered active conservation were the efforts that include, wearing
mask that scared the poachers, burning the poachers traps, and on occasion she would force
confrontation with the poachers and to stop the threat of human encroachment she would spray paint
cattle to discourage the herders. With all the good she was doing with these tactics, she soon became

branded products that appear through audio or visual means, influenced audience engagement through
levels of pleasure, arousal, and cognitive effort. The researchers focused on specific variables that may

involvement( interest ), connectedness ( to the program), engrossment( absorption of media) ,

Essay about Sam Phillips, the Father of Rock and Roll
Rock and Roll has come a long way since 1952 when music business icon Sam Phillips created it.
Sam Phillips is considered the father of Rock and Roll. He went against the social normality of
segregated music, and produced music that he felt should be made. Even when faced with career
ending criticism, Phillips continued on making history. Not only is Sam Phillips responsible for the
being the origin of the seemingly everlasting Rock and Roll movement, he segregated music amidst
all kinds of cultural disruption with civil rights. Sam Phillips is considered a musical revolutionary
who, despite adversity, changed the world forever.

Elvis Presley was signed to Sun Records in 1954. This was monumental for Phillips s stand on racial
boundaries in music. Elvis drew national attention to Sun Records which, in part, sparked slight
popularity for other Sun artists such as Howlin Wolf, B.B. King, and Roscoe Gordon (Sun Records 1).
This point in time is known as the origin of Rock and Roll. Contrary to what Rock and Roll is now, it
was only popular within a certain demographic of people for a long time Furthermore, Sun Records
and Sam Phillips went under fire by local radio stations and parents everywhere. Phillips s creation,
Rock and Roll, caused an outrage. It was seen as provocative towards young people, which was its
most popular demographic. Music from artists such as Elvis, King, and Gordon were banned from

music moguls didn t stop Sam. Nevertheless, Phillips kept on putting out influential, black music.
Despite the hardening Civil Rights movement in the 1950 s, songs by African American artists slowly
became extremely popular. In 1958, the first black artist reached the top of the billboard hot 100. This
marked the climax of Phillip s goal to make popular music from an unpopular race. Sam Phillips s
persistence on creating popular black records and the equality protests go hand in hand. The exposure

Introducing Systems Theory, Marriage And Family Therapists
Introducing Systems Theory
Marriage and Family Therapists (MFT) in training are tasked with helping a family work through
conflict and arrive and more intimate and interdependent relationships, which can seem daunting or
maybe even terrifying. However, the interaction patterns that show up in families can find some
context and clarity for a therapist who knows systems theory. Systems theory suggests that individuals
cannot be understood in isolation from their family context because families create relational
processes and generate a sequence of interactions and behaviors in order to maintain dynamic stability
of the self regulating family system (Nichols, 2013, pp. 58 59). How does this general systems theory
help an MFT guide a family in therapy? In this paper I will take three systems theory principles and
apply them to a movie in order to demonstrate how it provides a language and context for MFTs, thus
making it an essential tool in family therapy.
I will begin with a brief synopsis of Demme s movie, Rachel Getting Married (2008), and its primary
family characters. Next I will discuss three key principles of systems theory and use the movie
characters interactions as examples for each corresponding principle. In the conclusion I will share my
learning experience in doing this assignment.

an explosion, with the force of a 5.5 magnitude earthquake that reportedly was felt as far away as
Maryland, moved Jersey City, New Jersey. Glass windows in buildings in Manhattan and Brooklyn
were blown out, the Brooklyn Bridge shook and the nearby Statue of Liberty was hit with shrapnel. At
first, investigators believed the catastrophe was an accident, but later investigations would show the
disaster an act of sabotage by the Germans, who wanted to stop deliveries of ammunition to Allied

Most of the arms, however, were going to the Allies Britain, France and Russia because the British
navy had blockaded Germany. The first Black Tom explosion was detected at 2:08 a.m. followed half

there was an estimated $20 million in damage. That was the equivalent of $500 million today in
property damage. During the explosion, Jersey City residents went to the streets and gathered at the

Who Is Sir Isaac Newton My Hero
The person I consider a hero is Sir Isaac Newton, because he has a very significant impact on
mathematics, science, physics, and present day life. Many of things he discovered are some of the
biggest discoveries in the past centuries. For example, gravity, the color spectrum, and calculus. He is
my hero because I think that if one one if not most of the most influential physicist ever. He displayed
brilliance in a very early age and studied from other great scientists to gain information. What marks
the start of the idea of physics is the Battle of Hastings the battle that initiated modern monarchy and
the comet that flew in the sky that day in 1066. Everyone was asking What is it? and Where did it
come from? Then that very same comet crossed over London once again in 1682 and the questions
came up, Where do comets come from? Well, Isaac Newton dared to unlock the secrets of that comet.
He also invented a reflective telescope that he used to track the motion of the comet. Owing to the fact

and moved away to let Newton live with his grandmother. However, his mom, Hannah Ayscough,
came back while Newton was ten years of age, she came back with two sons and a daughter. Which is
a very hard thing to go through. When Newton became older, he had other problems he had to deal
with. Newton had temper which lead to violent outbursts, he had lost a lot of friends due to this
problem. Newton had numerous insecurities, but made it through his temper to display kindness and
generosity. With the such great of a reputation he had, he had a lot of pressure on his shoulders to live
up to it. It commenced a nervous breakdown in 1693, this certainly took a toll on him and his family.

America Faces A Wealth Gap
Veronica Gonzalez
James Okrasinski
English 1102
3 March 2015 America faces a wealth gap. Those born in the lower class struggle moving up.
Although the United States has long thought of itself as a nation where anyone who gets schooling and
works hard can move ahead on the basis of their achievement, the facts tell otherwise. Children born
into high income families have about twice as much chance of becoming middle class or better in their
adult years as those born into the lower classes. A way in which the lower income kids can beat the
chances is by getting a college degree. Those who earn a degree have a better chance of becoming
middle class or better than those who don t, although still not as good of a chance as the ... Show more

In addition, experts on the field argue that the effects of college are powerful enough to boost the
income of adult children from relatively poor families not only well past the income achieved by their
parents but also past the income achieved by many of their peers with more advantaged family
backgrounds who did not obtain equivalent education (Isaacs, Sawhill, Haskins 34). To put it in
another way, obtaining a degree is the best way, perhaps the only way, to possess economic stability.
Now, if we look at it from the country s perspective, education can be part of the solution to the wealth
gap, because the occurrence of poverty in the United States is directly related to educational level. A
college degree is the ticket to the middle class and beyond. Today, obviously, the idea that everyone
should attend to college is indisputable. But there is definitely nothing magical about its price. As
higher education institutions keep on rising its tuitions and fees.
The overwhelming cost for higher educational institutions is causing a huge concern over whether
higher education will be an attainable financial concept to the ordinary student in the upcoming years.
Many Americans now tend to believe that the path to obtaining a degree has turned into distraught
with financial traps. Recent studies done by the U.S. Department of Education show that college
tuition and fees have ballooned 1,120% since 1978. A year of college tuition for

Analysis Of Quentin Tarantino s The World Of...
In his interview, Quentin Tarantino describes Inglourious Basterds as a product of his imagination
(Gilby 175). If one had watched the film, he can see that the film is based on the real World War II
setting as it portrays actual key figures Hitler, Goebbels, and Churchill and events around that time,
such as German occupation in Paris and the Holocaust. Even though the film uses actual World War II
setting, the story as a whole is a pure fiction. The film is a fictional alternate history of two different,
but intertwined plots to assassinate Hitler. In reality, Hitler was not assassinated by the Jews, nor by
Americans because he committed suicide. But, in the world of Inglourious Basterds, Tarantino twists
the actual history by creating a fictional story of Hitler s assassination, which is effectively achieved
by Shoshanna, a French Jewish cinema proprietor, and two Jewish American soldiers from the
Basterds, a team of Jewish American soldiers led by Lt. Aldo Raine. What Tarantino wants to imply
through this film is that in the world of film, anything can be made possible, even altering history, at
the filmmaker s discretion. Tarantino has let his imagination run wild and satisfied the what if
questions that not only he but also others might have: What if Jews retaliated back and fight the
Nazis? What if Americans have killed Hitler and dismantled Third Reich? Through Inglourious
Basterds, Quentin Tarantino recognizes cinema as a medium that has the power to deviate

The Opposition Of Dalai Lama
Introduction
This paper analysis the arguments of Dalai Lama. He is one of the proponents of pluralism in religion.
He has a supremely forbearing view of other faiths. Many consider him as a person who encourages
love and compassion in humanity. Many believe that Dalai Lama promoted pluralism rather than
Buddhism as the best faith. Many believe that Dalai Lama is the only Tibetan who celebrates actively
the great diversity that different faiths provide. Despite the fact that many tend to consider Dalai Lama
as a pluralist, this work will argue that Dalai Lama was a Buddhist and that like any other Buddhists;
he values his religion more than other religions. The analysis would be based on thesis statement that
despite the fact that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This shows that he really wanted all people, irrespective of their systems to show love and compassion
rather to engage in divisive religious doctrines. He also considers it wrong to try to change people.
This is because converting people may enable one only succeed in weakening faith but may not
manage to convince them of validity of the new one. Because of this, Lama believe that
compassionate practice can enable both the practitioners and those around them to be more loving and
more content. Because of this, he claims that all religions can enhance compassion. According to him,
if people follow their own faiths as sincerely and truthfully as possible, they would surely become
compassionate and loving as possible.
Another objection that may show that Lama was not a monoist is that the interview shows that he
perceives all religions as being concerned with the disciplining the mind and enhancing peace,
morality and ethics.
In addition, the interview shows that Lama believes that love and compassion, which is the goal of any
religious system, have the same goals or purpose irrespective of the religion. For example, when a
Buddhist has love, the same love would be the same as the love a Christian have. So if all people have
love, then there will be no distinction between Buddhism and Christianity and that all will be one.
Another objection that Lama could be a monoist rather than a

the roasting and selling of whole bean and ground coffee, tea and spices, in Seattle s Pike Place

through many changes, starting in 1982, when Howard Schultz joined the Starbucks team, setting the

The Diel-Alder Nucleophilic Acyl Substitution
The Diel Alder/Nucleophilic Acyl Substitution Cascade Reaction Introduction The Diels Alder
reaction was discovered and named after the Nobel Prize winning scientists Kurt Alder and Otto Diels
in 1928. Such a reaction occurs when a diene with two adjacent double bonds is mixed with a
dienophile consisting of a double bond in order to create a cyclohexene. The diene must be in the s cis
conformation in order for the electron transfer to engage correctly. If the diene in question is in s trans
conformation then the access to the molecules is limited, thus, no reaction can occur. The dienophile
we used was maleic anhydride. Maleic anhydride possesses high electron withdrawing characteristics
which caused a very quick reaction. The reaction will

The Role Of Metropolitan Filaret s Divine Context And...
The influence of Metropolitan Filaret s divine context and ambiguity are evident in the document. In
speaking to the unity of God and tsar, Metropolitan Filaret makes the connection very clear. He wrote,
We thus became convinced that the problem of improving the condition of serfs was a sacred
inheritance bequeathed to Us by Our predecessors, a mission which, in the course of events, Divine
Providence has called upon Us to fulfill. The focus is that the time for emancipation is now, whereas it
had not been time before, and that the tsar is fulfilling the will of God. While there is some discussion
of the specific terms of emancipation such as the temporary obligation the peasants still had to the
lords and a vague hint of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition to being able to read scripture themselves, peasants also could read church liturgy and
practices, which created questions and enabled peasants to see how insufficient their parish priest was.
Peasants began sending petitions and grievances to local and national church offices; they wanted
increased authority over their own parishes, something the Orthodox Church did not want to give. The
Russian Orthodox Church viewed this increased interest among the peasantry very negatively. The
Church often interpreted peasant activism as a negative consequence of secular enlightenment that
ultimately would harm the Orthodox faith through the dilution of its traditional hierarchical principles.
Thus, the church became increasingly reactionary and isolated itself further from the peasantry
interacting even less and trying to distance the peasantry from doctrine and liturgy. The Church saw
peasant interest as directly undermining their power instead of a development of a more devoted
populous. This led to the paradox of a weakening political and culture power of the Church while
simultaneously the peasantry became increasingly devoted to localized religious practice. The gap
widened even further between the Church and the peasantry due to the Church s fear and mistrust of
the peasantry. As the Church distanced themselves from the peasantry in relational and spiritual
realms, it also tried to reassert its control over the peasantry, primarily through

The egocentric self takes on the idea that each individual, as an aware and distinct person, is
responsible for their actions. As such, the individual possesses intrinsic qualities such as generosity,
integrity, or beauty. However, for the sociocentric self, no individual possesses the intrinsic qualities;
generosity, integrity, or beauty can only apply to social situations (i.e. rather than the man is generous,
for the egocentric self, the sociocentric self would see he gives money to his friends ). Provide one
reason why anthropologists prefer to use the ethnographic method. To avoid bias that can emerge from
an armchair approach, anthropologists can conduct their own research through the ethnographic
method and collect vital information through surveys and questionnaires themselves in the
ethnographic method. Participant observation allows for in depth immersion in the lives of the
particular group to understand the meanings these people ascribe to their existence, allowing the
anthropologist to see others from their point of view. Identify and briefly explain two challenges in
doing fieldwork. Fieldwork requires funding and permission; anthropologists require sponsorship
from the government or other external benefactors. The application process to receive funding from
the government is also highly competitive, meaning that anthropologists

Organic Agriculture And Developing Optimal Management...
Developing new small grain crop varieties specifically bred for organic agriculture and developing
optimal management strategies for organic production are expected to solve some of the primary
challenges faced by organic small grain farmers, which will lead to an increase in organic farm
profitability. In addition, we will train and prepare the future graduate students who will contribute to
enhancing organic agriculture in the future.
Significance of the proposed research
With the rising interest of American consumers for healthy food, the demand for organic food
products continues to increase. Sales from organic crops in the United States have increased by 69%
between 2008 and 2014 (USDA NASS, 2008). The demand for organic small grain ... Show more

Despite the growing demand for organic wheat and oats, a limited amount of research has been
undertaken to solve challenges faced by organic producers. Because crop plants cannot be protected
by conventional pesticides under organic standards, the development of crop varieties with the ability
to compete against weeds and resist infection from disease is extremely important. In reality, the
choice of variety is more crucial in organic than in conventional agriculture since synthetic herbicides
and protectants cannot be used. Only limited efforts have been made to breed small grain crop
varieties specifically for organic farming (Wolfe et al., 2008), even though it has been shown that in
order to optimize performance varieties should be bred specifically for organic management if the goal
is to optimize performance (Baenziger et al., 2011). As a result, organic producers are forced to choose
varieties that were developed and optimized for conventional farming and have limited access to
information on optimal management practices.
This project is expected to produce new varieties of spring wheat, winter wheat, and oat with
improved productivity and end use quality under organic management. The project will also provide
new practical advice for organic producers about small

In a mason jar (or any container with a tight fitting lid,) add in the remaining ingredients. Seal the jar and shake well to combine. Set aside. 3. For the salad: place two generous handfuls of watercress on a serving plate. Place in the fridge to chill. 4. Peel the beetroot, radish, and carrot. Using Blade C, turn the vegetables into thin zoodles. Place in the fridge to chill. 5. In a non stick pan, gently grill the halloumi slices until brown on both sides, about 3 to 4 minutes. Allow the halloumi to cool before slicing into thin strips. 6. To assemble: pour in 2 tablespoons of the dressing into the bowl of vegetables. Add in the chopped walnuts and sliced halloumi. Toss well to combine. Place salad on the chilled plate of watercress. Add more dressing, if desired. Serve immediately. Salad tip: always dress your salad greens at the last minute, then serve immediately. This prevents vegetables and fruits from turning limp and soggy. If you are not sure if the salad will be eaten right away, you can toss the salad at the table, and serve the dressing on the side. Another tip to preserve the crunchiness of leafy greens is to spin dry (use a salad spinner) the vegetables after rinsing. This quickly removes most of the moisture without damaging the fragile ... • 3. Occupation In Auschwitz There were thousands and thousands of people being brought into the concentration camps. There had to be a way for them to keep everything organized. The people in command would register every single Jew before they were put to work or sent to the buildings. After the prisoners were unloaded from the truck or train, they were stripped of their personal belongings and clothes, and then they were given a new uniform. Most of the time they were also shaved. The prisoners were then taken to be inscribed with their number stamp and were also demanded to stand still while taking their picture from three sides (Camp System). That was the painless part. Other lower class men would do pointless things such as move sandbags, extract and carry heavy stones, dig trenches, etc. ( Normal Day ). Women had different expectations set on them. They were usually told to sew, cook, work in fields, work in factories, etc. If you were older, you were usually either experimented on or killed. Same thing followed for the children ( Holocaust ). If you ever slowed down on what you were doing, you were punished or killed. It wasn t easy to stay awake and keep working in the cold weather when you were tired and hungry. The punishments differed depending on the situation, but there was plenty to choose from. • 5. Methamphetamine Argumentative Analysis Neil Postman believes the world focuses on entertainment values and not on real world issues. These beliefs are true; the argument is well qualified because in this world, many Americans focus their ideals on celebrities instead of aspects of importance like drug abuse. People invest the time in the material objects and celebrities whereas there are plenty of other problems in this world that Americans seem to ignore or refute. Methamphetamine is known for causing brain damage, but people tend to disagree on this concept that methamphetamine has no dangerous effects on the cognitive ability. In fact, Carl Hart, an associate professor of psychology, adamantly disagrees to the dangers reported by media and other research professionals (Merino). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Because physicians believed that cocaine was a cure for heart disease, they promoted its use, and a major soft drink company Coca Cola used this drug substance in their soft drinks (Blachford, Krapp). It was not until more research was concluded and publicized that the real effects of cocaine were made public. It was determined that cocaine stimulates the central nervous system which increased the heart rate, respiration, blood pressure, and body temperature (Blachford, Krapp). Cocaine in the natural coca leaf state is not, whatsoever, addictive nor does this drug create a euphoric reaction in the user, but when chemically altered, the drug is addictive (Blachford, Krapp). In the process of using cocaine, the dopamine and serotonin receptors are disrupted. These specific receptors affect one s mood, memory, and appetite (O Sullivan). Also bupropion is a prescribed medication that people use as a mimic for cocaine (Koshy). Bupropion goes by the name of poor man s cocaine because of the inexpensive price of $2.50 per pill and the cocaine like high the user receives (Koshy). Again Postman s argument proves itself true with the history that surrounds cocaine use: people were unaware of the side effects of cocaine use due to lack of knowledge about the drug. It was a whole new experience, but I think the soldiers were glad they were being recorded. It shows what the government refuses to show, the harsh reality and treatment of war. The difference in two is detail, the article is way more detailed in what happened with the camera crew, while the song is just a catchy tune but also reality. Also, the song may just be what the artist heard about the war, but to me since the name is Handsome Johnny. I feel as though it s about what the artist sees on television. Speech On Plastics Year 10 English Language Analysis Essay In a response to a recent rise in the number of plastic bags, debate has resurfaced in the media regarding the extensive use and deposition of plastic bags. Stakeholders which include the Australian Retailers Association, governments of different states and various legislations have implemented measures to reduce the total number of plastic bags that are being consumed and eternally contaminated. The wider implications include, soaring death rates of a number of marine animals and the exponential cost on recycling plastic bags. In the opinion piece titled, Forget, reuse and recycle. Let s flat out reject plastic bags, which appeared on 31 August 2017 in the Courier Mail, author Jane Fynes Clinton contends in a controlled and authoritative tone that the use of plastic bags are an ongoing concern and change that is necessary is disregarded. Dr Clinton has put forward this article to citizens of Australia, local supermarkets, governments and institutes. Establishing with outrage and melancholy, Clinton argues that plastic bags do not just contaminate the oceans, but also violate the environmental terms and affect many marine organisms. The author s convincing use of active voice, highlighting that, change is coming, but we are hastening frustratingly, not only asserts a sense of guilt in the reader, but also seeks to reinforce that we as humans continue to oscillate on whether we should protect marine life that we need for the future. It is now becoming ubiquitous. In a frustrated manner, the author employs the reader s sense of fear that, the changes are going to bite hard some creatures. This phrase embeds a a frank sentiment in the audience who are stubborn to change and incline to their negative opinions, while also urging our support the contention by creating an appeal to authority. Moreover, the context is heightened by her reference to supermarkets chains announcing a bag ban. Moreover, in the following sentence, It is frightening, appeals to the audience s sense of fear. This encourages the reader to think about the consequences of the millions of plastic bags floating in our precious oceans. The inclusion of the image of a person carrying ... Timothy Lloyd Essay It was an early morning on July 31, 1996 when a worker logged in to his computer and triggered a malicious code that instructed the system to delete the software that Omega Engineering company ran in it is manufacturing operations. The criminal behind this was a man named Timothy Lloyd. He worked for 11 years and as some point during his working experience with the company, he became the network s administrator. He was part of the creation of this network, a system he knew all too well. Three weeks after he was fired, this malicious software code was activated. He created six lines of code, which they called a time bomb to detonate without him having to be present. This so called bomb when triggered, was set to delete critical manufacturing software, bringing the file server down, also bringing the hub of the network down and costing the company millions of dollars. They designed and created software for the NASA and the U.S. Navy., so they were also affected by this sabotage. They eventually had to lay off 80 workers due to damage of this sabotage. For instance, foreign banks were licensed to provide corporate banking service only to foreign invested enterprises. Few licensed braches were allowed to operate as foreign banks. Indeed, foreign banks need licenses from central bank. However, the bank´s senior knew this would be a slow process since the China state banks were usually run by bureaucrats and unable to set their own deposits and interest rate level. Despite the India s meteoric GDP growth rate (about 9%), poverty in India is still pervasive; especially in rural areas where 70% of India s 1.2 billion population live. • 20. How College Dating Has Changed My Life College dating has changed a lot since my parents went to school. Courtship and chivalry are dead, or extremely hard to find, and a majority of college students are involved in the hookup culture. A hookup is a nonromantic encounter with a friend or acquaintance that involves an unspecified degree of sexual interaction, (Carpenter and DeLamater 129). When I first started college, I had a very nice relationship that lasted about 3 months. When we both decided to just be friends, it dawned on me that I could sleep with whomever I wanted to. During my second semester in college, I more than doubled the amount of guys I slept with in high school and I know why I did it. I let myself engage in hookup culture because I wanted to rebel against my parents, have some sense of intimacy without commitment, experience new things, and it was so much fun to brag about with my girlfriends. However, after a while I began to miss what I had during my first semester, someone who actually cared about me and wanted to be with me for more than just sex. I often hear numerous complaints in college about not being able to find a significant other. This new style of dating, or hookup culture, lacks a sense of respect and doesn t allow for an emotional closeness with those students find attractive. It encourages college students to suppress their emotions in order to gain sexual intimacy and that wanting a committed relationship is a thing of the past. Why has courtship and traditional ... They are treated awfully despite not having committed a single crime. The main character, Marcus, deems it is in his hands to take down the DHS and get revenge for what they ve done. The Bay Bridge bombing and terrorist attack, the awful treatment of the characters by the DHS, and Marcus good efforts to seek revenge, all have an impact on human nature. Doctorow s novel shows how acts of conflict can expose the cruelty of human nature as they can inflict tremendous pain on the vulnerable, but sometimes they can even cause a positive outcome. Organizing a terrorist attack reveals one s true human nature simply by having created such a vicious and cruel conflict. Within the beginning of the novel, the Bay Bridge in San Francisco was bombed and thousands of people got injured and many died. All three of these jobs have characteristics that can contribute to increased levels of job satisfaction. All three of these jobs offer plenty of hours of work. This can lead to job stability and increase the affective commitment that a person might have toward a job (Milligan, 2014). It is, therefore, necessary, within the context of the family, to delve into the treatment and support of people who abuse alcohol The health profile of alcohol abusers is quite complex because it transcends gender, age, race, social profile, and economic conditions. This means that the homeless adolescent might abuse alcohol and the wealthy socialite may similarly abuse alcohol (NCETA, 2004). Therefore, the effects alcohol and complications that health providers face when dealing with this group widely vary. However, it is possible to paint a general picture of the health risks, challenges, and accompanying conditions. Alcohol abusers have a higher risk for health problems than non users. Harmful drinking increases the likelihood of developing cirrhosis, acute pancreatitis and some types of cancer such as breast cancer or mouth cancer. Furthermore, excessive alcohol consumption puts young people and women at risk of harm related to alcohol. In young people, it can hamper development and damage organs, while in women may harm an unborn child ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

During her time in Africa she would learn how to track and identify different gorilla groups and identify the gorillas in each group. It would take some time but, sooner or later she was gaining the gorillas trust by imitating the body language, eating habitats and the vocalizations of the gorillas that she had studied. Throughout her stay she would deal with multiple poachers, that would kill the gorillas she was studying even her favorite gorilla, Digit. Her way of dealing with the poachers was that she would use what she calls active conservation, in which she would fight the poachers face to face. She used active conservation because she was certain that the long term efforts would eventually become useless because all the gorillas would be dead and there would be nothing to save. What she did that was considered active conservation were the efforts that include, wearing mask that scared the poachers, burning the poachers traps, and on occasion she would force confrontation with the poachers and to stop the threat of human encroachment she would spray paint cattle to discourage the herders. With all the good she was doing with these tactics, she soon became the target of the people she was affecting and would later become the victim of a mysterious death. Her murder was the birth of multiple conspiracy theories such as angry poachers killed her, political leaders hired poachers to kill her, and even one of her colleagues became a victim of one these theories. For example, engagement (attention), involvement( interest ), connectedness ( to the program), engrossment( absorption of media) , immersion (psychological state), and transportation (losing real world facets while viewing). Their participants were 166 high school students in Sydney, Australia, ages 14 16 who were heavy movie watchers. They showed the participants the movie Legally Blonde, which had twenty two product placements within the movie followed by a post questionnaire. The questions simply asked if they noticed any of the products in the movie with yes/ no/not sure as the options for them to answer. For their engagement test, they utilized Mehrabian and Russell s pleasure, arousal, dominance scale, which measured pleasantness versus unpleasantness and positive versus negative feelings. Sam Phillips is considered the father of Rock and Roll. He went against the social normality of segregated music, and produced music that he felt should be made. Even when faced with career ending criticism, Phillips continued on making history. Not only is Sam Phillips responsible for the being the origin of the seemingly everlasting Rock and Roll movement, he segregated music amidst all kinds of cultural disruption with civil rights. Elvis drew national attention to Sun Records which, in part, sparked slight popularity for other Sun artists such as Howlin Wolf, B.B. King, and Roscoe Gordon (Sun Records 1). This point in time is known as the origin of Rock and Roll. Contrary to what Rock and Roll is now, it was only popular within a certain demographic of people for a long time Furthermore, Sun Records and Sam Phillips went under fire by local radio stations and parents everywhere. Phillips s creation, Rock and Roll, caused an outrage. It was seen as provocative towards young people, which was its most popular demographic. Music from artists such as Elvis, King, and Gordon were banned from radio stations and televisions (Impact of Rock Roll on USA 5). Criticism from other well known music moguls didn t stop Sam. Nevertheless, Phillips kept on putting out influential, black music. Despite the hardening Civil Rights movement in the 1950 s, songs by African American artists slowly became extremely popular. In 1958, the first black artist reached the top of the billboard hot 100. This marked the climax of Phillip s goal to make popular music from an unpopular race. Introducing Systems Theory, Marriage And Family Therapists Introducing Systems Theory Marriage and Family Therapists (MFT) in training are tasked with helping a family work through conflict and arrive and more intimate and interdependent relationships, which can seem daunting or maybe even terrifying. However, the interaction patterns that show up in families can find some context and clarity for a therapist who knows systems theory. Systems theory suggests that individuals cannot be understood in isolation from their family context because families create relational processes and generate a sequence of interactions and behaviors in order to maintain dynamic stability of the self regulating family system (Nichols, 2013, pp. 58 59). How does this general systems theory help an MFT guide a family in therapy? In this paper I will take three systems theory principles and apply them to a movie in order to demonstrate how it provides a language and context for MFTs, thus making it an essential tool in family therapy. I will begin with a brief synopsis of Demme s movie, Rachel Getting Married (2008), and its primary family characters. Next I will discuss three key principles of systems theory and use the movie characters interactions as examples for each corresponding principle. In the conclusion I will share my learning experience in doing this assignment. Although the United States has long thought of itself as a nation where anyone who gets schooling and works hard can move ahead on the basis of their achievement, the facts tell otherwise. Children born into high income families have about twice as much chance of becoming middle class or better in their adult years as those born into the lower classes. To put it in another way, obtaining a degree is the best way, perhaps the only way, to possess economic stability. • 41. Analysis Of Quentin Tarantino s The World Of... In his interview, Quentin Tarantino describes Inglourious Basterds as a product of his imagination (Gilby 175). If one had watched the film, he can see that the film is based on the real World War II setting as it portrays actual key figures Hitler, Goebbels, and Churchill and events around that time, such as German occupation in Paris and the Holocaust. Even though the film uses actual World War II setting, the story as a whole is a pure fiction. The film is a fictional alternate history of two different, but intertwined plots to assassinate Hitler. In reality, Hitler was not assassinated by the Jews, nor by Americans because he committed suicide. But, in the world of Inglourious Basterds, Tarantino twists the actual history by creating a fictional story of Hitler s assassination, which is effectively achieved by Shoshanna, a French Jewish cinema proprietor, and two Jewish American soldiers from the Basterds, a team of Jewish American soldiers led by Lt. Aldo Raine. What Tarantino wants to imply through this film is that in the world of film, anything can be made possible, even altering history, at the filmmaker s discretion. Tarantino has let his imagination run wild and satisfied the what if questions that not only he but also others might have: What if Jews retaliated back and fight the Nazis? What if Americans have killed Hitler and dismantled Third Reich? Through Inglourious Basterds, Quentin Tarantino recognizes cinema as a medium that has the power to deviate ... Because of this, Lama believe that compassionate practice can enable both the practitioners and those around them to be more loving and more content. Because of this, he claims that all religions can enhance compassion. Another objection that may show that Lama was not a monoist is that the interview shows that he perceives all religions as being concerned with the disciplining the mind and enhancing peace, morality and ethics. In addition, the interview shows that Lama believes that love and compassion, which is the goal of any religious system, have the same goals or purpose irrespective of the religion. Peasants began sending petitions and grievances to local and national church offices; they wanted increased authority over their own parishes, something the Orthodox Church did not want to give. The Russian Orthodox Church viewed this increased interest among the peasantry very negatively. The Church often interpreted peasant activism as a negative consequence of secular enlightenment that ultimately would harm the Orthodox faith through the dilution of its traditional hierarchical principles. Thus, the church became increasingly reactionary and isolated itself further from the peasantry interacting even less and trying to distance the peasantry from doctrine and liturgy. The Church saw peasant interest as directly undermining their power instead of a development of a more devoted populous. This led to the paradox of a weakening political and culture power of the Church while simultaneously the peasantry became increasingly devoted to localized religious practice.
