Corona virus is an infectious disease
caused by a newly discovered
virus ( CoronaVirus). Corona viruses
are a group of related viruses that
cause diseases in mammals and
birds. In humans, Corona viruses
cause respiratory tract infections
that can be mild or lethal.
CORONAVIRUS DISEASE
TYPES (Human Coronaviruses)
COMMON OTHERS
1. MERS-CoV (Middile East
Respiratory Syndrome)
2. SARS-CoV ( SevereAcute
Respiratory Syndrome)
3. SARS-CoV-2(Covid-19)
1. 229E (alpha coronaviruses )
2. NL63 ( alpha coronaviruses )
3. OC43 (beta coronaviruses )
4. HKU1 ( beta coronaviruses )
SYMPTOMS
OF
COVID- 19
SYMPTOMS
People may be sick with the virus for 1 to
14 days before developming symptoms.
The most common symptoms of Corona
virus disease (Covid-19) are fever,
tiredness and dry cough. Most patients
(about 80%) recover from the disease
without needing special treatment.
More rarely the disease can be severe and
even fatal Old people and people with
other medical problems(such as asthama,
diabetes, and heart disease) may be more
vulnerable to becoming severely ill.
ORIGIN OF COVID-19
• Scientists have been trying to
understand the origin of Covid-19 and
the virus that causes it – SARS-CoV-2.
• Scientists believed that the virus may
have been developed in Bats and later
pangolins.
• However, genomic comparisons
suggest that SARS-CoV-2 is the result
of combination between two viruses
(one close to RaTG13 and other close to
pangolins virus ). It means that exact
origin of virus is still unclear.
PLACE OF
ORIGIN
The epicenter of Covid-19 was China.
Early on, many of the patients inWuhan,
Hubei Province China had some link to a
large seafood and live animal market,
suggesting animal-to-person spread.
Later, a growing no. of patients
reportedly did not have exposure to
animal markets indicating person-to-
person spread. Person-to-person spread
was subsequently reported outside Hubei
and outside China to other countries
