not material wants that seek ownership, but the ideas, skills and moral aspirations need equal protection. It refers to creations of the mind: inventions,
literary and artistic works, symbols, names, images, and designs used in commerce. Intellectual property is divided into two categories: Industrial
property, which includes inventions (patents), trademarks, industrial designs, and geographic indications of source; and Copyright, which includes

While India has entered the global patent regime, awareness and expertise on the subject of IPR in India is still highly inadequate. Present skills do not
extend towards protecting indigenous inventions or understanding the implications of patents granted to competitors. Further, the ability to read or
write patents is grossly lacking when viewed in the context of global practices. Indian industry and businessmen cannot afford to be indifferent to these
new requirements. India's knowledge–based industries will be looking at filing international patents and their skills in filing, reading and exploring
patents will be very crucial in the years to come. Lawyers and Law firms are most useful in assisting various IPR management, protection and
infringement of patents in India and abroad. Any attorney may register trademarks or copyrights, or initiate or defend any kind of IP litigation. Yet,
because many attorneys are unfamiliar with IP fundamentals, small business owners should seek advice of specialists. Most people know enough
about real estate property, rough cost according to its location. They also know to clear title before making a purchase or commencing construction.
However, when it comes to IPR, most of them are ignorant and offer comparatively cheap insurances against the risk. Few people starting businesses
have equivalent knowledge

A Clockwork Orange Essay: A Movie Analysis
A Clockwork Orange A Movie Analysis
In 1962, Anthony Burgess' novel A Clockwork Orange was published for the first time. This novel was an anti
–utopian fable about the near future,
where teenage gangs habitually terrorize the inhabitants of a shabby metropolis. The novel deals with the main focus that man is a sinner but not
sufficiently a sinner to deserve the calamities that are heaped upon him. It is a comic novel about a man's tragic lot. (Bergonzi 152).
In 1971, Stanley Kubrick turned Burgess' novel into a 136 minute, color motion picture produced by Warner Brothers. The movie starred Malcolm
McDowell as the young gangster guilty of rape and murder. Kubrick was both writer and director.

The only difference is that due to time constraints, the film leaves out a few minor scenes of the droogs (Burgess' term for ruffians) committing
acts of violence. The film is divided into three parts, as is the novel. The first part is the description of Alex's exploits in "ultraviolence." He and his
fellow gang members (droogs) spend their time committing a series of rapes, robberies, and assaults, usually aimed at completely defenseless
people. The attacks are pathological and random. The second part of the film is filled with a different sort of brutality. Alex is in prison, but still
continues his violent ways. The authorities preach obedience, but Alex and the other inmates respond by attacking one another. Alex is sentenced to a
new form of psychological treatment that transforms him into a parody of the perfect Christian. He behaves morally and follows the values that were
forced upon him by the State. He has no free will to chose his own thoughts and actions. The third part occurs when Alex returns to the real world; a
more peaceful and prosperous world, free of violence. Violence has been institutionalized. In the concluding vision Alex recovers and returns to the
pleasures in bloody violence and the music of Ludwig Van Beethoven. (Gottlieb 271– 272)

Analysis Of Nel Cor PiпїЅ Non Mi Sento
"Nel cor piГ№ non mi sento" by Giovanni Paisiello The composer of "Nel cor piГ№ non mi sento" is Giovanni Paisiello, an Italian opera composer
born in 1740. Giovanni's musical talent was discovered when his singing ability was revealed while at school. As a result, Giovanni was sent to the
Conservatory of Dan Onofrio at Naples. While in school, he composed multiple intermezzi, which garnered enough attention to grant him the
opportunity to write two operas. Giovanni's career advanced from there, spending time composing in Russia, and Vienna before returning to Naples;
he also had a spent a short amount of time in Paris. Ultimately, over eighty different operas are credited to Paisiello as well as many smaller works.
This particular song, "Nel cor piГ№ non mi sento" comes from his 1788 opera L'amor constrastato, more commonly known as La Molinara. In this
comedy opera, three men (Don Calloandro, Don Rospolone, and Pistofolo) fall for mill owner Rachelina. Issues arise since Calloandro is set to
marry his cousin Eugenia, and both Calloandro and Rospolone reveal their affection for Rachelina to Pistofolo. Within the opera, "Nel cor..." is sung
by Rachelina with a second verse by Don Colloandro as Rachelina is working in the morning. "I'm Not that Girl" by Stephen Schwartz
"I'm not that Girl" can be found in the musical Wicked, whose music is by Stephen Schwartz. Born in New York, Schwartz studied at Juilliard and

Recorded Music By some estimates, the recorded–music business was an $8.5 billion industry in the U.S. (see Exhibit 1 for general trends in
recorded–music revenues, and Exhibit 2a for the bestselling artists in recorded music in 2008). Physical sales had fallen markedly since the early
2000s, while digital sales had grown to be a $1.6 billion share.1 Further declines of physical recorded–music sales were widely expected, as several
brick–and–mortar music retailers were struggling and mass merchants dedicated less shelf space to music. Digital outlets such as Apple's iTunes store
and Amazon had seen strong growth: tellingly, iTunes–accounting for roughly three quarters of all digital music sales–had overtaken Walmart to
become the largest seller of recorded music. Artists and labels Popular artists tended to have an exclusive contract with a record company (or "record
label"). Under the terms of such a record contract, artists usually committed to creating four to six albums' worth of music, while the label agreed to
manufacture, distribute, and promote that music. Beginning artists could expect an advance–intended to cover living and other expenses–in the range
of $200,000 to $300,000; superstars sometimes received up–front fees of $1 million

Sam Cooke and "A Change Is Gonna Come"
In the midst of a time where black Americans were facing extreme ridicule and fighting for their rights, Sam Cooke arose from the Gospel music style
and merged into the music known as Soul, a genre that spoke to the socially crumbling nation about peace and civil rights changes. Through his smooth
style, velvety voice, handsome appearance, and appeal to black and white audiences alike, Sam Cooke made a difference in the lives of Americans in
the 1960s by singing with pure emotion and soul, like in "A Change is Gonna Come." Through this genre's sincere singing with lyrics full of emotion, a
sense of understanding was brought to the people of America about the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Bobby Womack, a singer who had sang alongside Cooke in some acts said, "He went out there and started singing and people would not believe
his voice." Sam Cooke was a different breed of Gospel singer, and he changed the style, giving it an edge and a more youthful appeal. In 1955,
Cooke began cutting secular songs to make it big with Specialty Records, and became a hit instantly with his hits, "I'll Come Running Back to
You," and "You Send Me" (Gulla, 114). His short career produced many memorable hits and records, and in the midst of it, Cooke served his black
community in the struggle over civil rights. In parallel to the movement and in light of his son's tragic death and Bob Dylan's "Blowin' In the
Wind," Cooke wrote, "A Change Is Gonna Come" in 1963 ("Song Facts"). Cooke suddenly died in 1964, right before the release of the song, and black
America plunged into despair because he had been a ray of light, a symbol of hope, and an emblem of equality and racial balance (Gulla, 109). He had
been an icon for both blacks and whites alike. In spite of his shorted career, "A Change Is Gonna Come" affected America with is raw lyrics and
unprecedented emotion Cooke displays in his song. "A Change Is Gonna Come" was released eleven days after Cooke's death as a final farewell to
his audiences that loved him. The song expresses the soul of the freedom movement as

Lil Wayne: The Best Rapper Alive Essay

hesitation, it must be the self acclaimed best rapper alive, Lil Wayne. He alone can make such statements as "My picture should be in the dictionary

After a friend introduced him to the owners of Cash Money Records, he pestered them by leaving rap songs on the owners' answering machines
until they finally would give him a chance. The owners, Bryan "Birdman" or "Baby" Williams and Ronald "Slim" Williams signed him to their
record label when he was 12 going by the name of Gangsta D. The owners were impressed by his freestyle abilities. Birdman really liked the young
Carter and took him under his wing so to speak and became his mentor. Many people mistakenly believe that Birdman is Lil Wayne's father and
they are additionally confused by the fact that Lil Wayne also refers to Birdman as his dad and pa, but there is actually no relation. The first album
released with Cash Money Records was in 1995 when the producer, Mannie Fresh, teamed Dwayne with a 14 year old named B.G. The album was
called True Story. In 1997 there was supposed to be a follow up album; however his mom tried to put a stop to his association with Cash Money
Records after she noticed him wearing gang related clothes, but Dwayne ran away. He took his stepfather's gun with him and accidentally shot
himself. He was taken to the hospital and questioned by police. He admitted stealing his stepfather's gun. This landed Rabbit in jail for having an
unregistered handgun. Sadly, a short time after Rabbit was released from jail he was kidnapped and killed. In 1997 according to MTV, Dwayne

I grew up in Jamaica at a time when Rastas were still regarded as useless, lazy, half–insane, ganja–smoking illiterates who were of no value to society.
Teachers, students, office workers, and anyone of social importance could not grow locks, and families would go into mourning when their sons
would start sprouting them. I heard the term "black heart man" used again and again as a means of expressing fear or ridicule of the Rastafarian. And
this was in the early 1970s–after Bob Marley's emergence as an international viii FOREWORD star, after Selassie's arrival in Jamaica, and after so
much had been written about the importance of Rastafarianism. The problem was that Rasta was counter to the strong Christian structure that
dominated and continues to dominate Jamaican life and was seen п¬Ѓrst as heretical and misguided before its powerful social and political ideas were
fully appreciated. Most important, however, was the Rastafarian insistence that Africa was the promised land and that Jamaicans should look to Africa
for their model of value rather than to Europe, which was seen as foolish and a painful reminder of slavery and oppression. Rasta was an offense to
those who wanted to deny the African part of their heritage. And the truth is also that in Jamaica at that time the privileging of lighter–skinned people

Mozart's Music: Post Hardcore Music
Post Hardcore Music Music influences just about everyone and can be found anywhere. Beethoven was influenced by Mozart's music, Elvis was
influenced by gospel, blues, country and white pop, and Vic Fuentes was influenced by his dad. Cultures use music to communicate and to express
themselves. For example with African culture, they use music to represent their heritage, religious practices, storytelling and dance. Post hardcore
music helps connect people around the United States and represent who they are. Post hardcore music developed from hardcore punk. In the mid to
late 1980's bands such as Black Flag and Minor Threat started to make themselves known. Most of the bands that considered themselves to be part of
this genre were formed in the Eastern part of the United States, a lot originating in Washington DC. Ryan Cooper states that the genre started "from
actual hardcore bands themselves." Many bands began to get bored with the constraints of hardcore music and started to experiment with different
sounds. Bands such as Naked Raygun were seen merging post–punk influences, such as Wire, and hardcore according to author Steven Blush. As post
hardcore music continued growing, many bands decided to use a DIY ethic. This meant that they would pay for their ... Show more content on

Essay on Electronic File Sharing
Electronic File Sharing
Often times new technology enables completely new activities, discoveries, and ways of living, once not possible without that particular technology.
An example of this would be the microscope and telescope, which now allow us to see things not possible before. Other times, new technology allows
us to do things which we did before, but in a different way.1 A good example of this iselectronic file sharing over the Internet. Unauthorized file
sharing was possible before the Internet, but on a much smaller scale. One person might have physically borrowed a music cd from another person
and made a copy. With the Internet, it became possible for a single person to share (more like distribute without... Show more content on

Napster) that were used for most illegal electronic file sharing were not a pure form of peer to peer architecture because a client (peer) in search of
a particular file (song), would first connect to a centralized site, and then be directed to a peer who would have that particular file. So, in a system
like Napster, Napster did not provide songs to clients, it only provided a client with a place where it could acquire the songs.
Now lets take a look at the legal issues involved with file sharing. In the recording industry, there are two copyright laws involved. The first one is
the copyright of the musical composition, which deals with the lyrics and musical notes. This is usually owned by the songwriter or music
publisher.4 The second law is the copyright in sound recording, which deals with the recording of the performer singing or playing a given song.
This is usually owned by the record company.5 The law that is violated with electronic file sharing is the second one. Titles 17 and 18 of the U.S.
Code protect copyright owners from the unauthorized reproduction, adaptation or distribution of sound recordings, as well as certain digital
performances to the public.6 So, from the legal clauses, it can be interpreted that users of popular online sites such as Napster are engaging in
unauthorized distribution of sound recordings. The online infringement of copyrighted music can be punished with several years in prison. 7

Brand Building Blocks
BRAND BUILDING BLOCKS
Building Strong Brands: Why Is It Hard?
It is not easy to build brands in today 's environment. The brand builder who attempts to develop a strong brand is like a golfer playing on a course
with heavy roughs, deep sand traps, sharp doglegs, and vast water barriers. It is difficult to score well in such conditions. Substantial pressures and
barriers, both internal and external, can inhibit the brand builder. To be able to develop effective brand strategies, it is useful to understand these
pressures and barriers
Different factors that make it difficult to build brands are shown in the figure above. The first, pressure to compete on price, directly affects the
motivation to build brands. The second reason, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What, then, happens to the people who support the brand with market research or other brand–building activities? They are vulnerable to the
organizations new cost culture.
2. Proliferation Of Competitors
New, vigorous competitors come from a variety of sources. A host of food categories have watched Weight Watchers and Healthy Choice enter their
markets through brand extension strategies. In the snack category, Frito–Lay has seen regional brands expand and Budweiser 's Eagle brand break out
of its niche to become a major competitor. New product forms that provide real alternatives for the customer have encroached the soft drink market,
bottled water, carbonated water, fruit–based drinks, and "new age" drinks, among others.
Additional competitors not only contribute to price pressure and brand complexity, but also make it much harder to gain and hold a position. They
leave fewer holes in the market to exploit and fewer implementation vehicles to own. Each brand tends to be positioned more narrowly, the target
markets become smaller, and the non–target market becomes larger. Efforts to market to a broad segment thus become more difficult in the face of the
complex 'brandscape' Further, some new or desperate competitors may be motivated to take risks or attempt unusual approaches. The result can be
destabilization of the competitive dynamics. There is also an enhanced motivation to copy anything that is successful, in part because the risks of

France: All Things Charming Essay
As Cole Porter once sang "Only in Paris one discovers the urge to merge with the splurge of the spring" (LyricsFreak), the French have always had a
"je ne sais quoi" about them, an unforgettable charm and an unrepentant tendency for overindulgence that makes their footprint in the fields of
architecture, cuisine, art, fashion and even war, ever so lasting. From Coco Chanel's simple designs to Victor Hugo's enchanting prose to Claude Monet

However, not only the fact of being an artist gets one admiration and recognition, being creative and bringing something new to the table earns you
a place in the French people's memory. Innovation has been one of the most valued attributes throughout French history. What makes an artist
outstanding is his or her ability to move boundaries, create original ideas and take risks. As Coco Chanel once said, "In order to be irreplaceable
one must be different" she is the prime example of how innovation forever remains thorough French history (ThinkExist). She took a risk when she
created a collection that went against everything that had been in fashion for the last two centuries. The tight corsets that made women faint and
the layers and layers of undergarments, were gone for Coco Chanel. She created a collection based on simplicity and flow, which liberated women
from uncomfortable garbs that were neither versatile nor efficient. Her fashion collection made a statement in the society, showing that women
needed simpler clothing that allowed her to do more jobs and to be more than an object of oppression. This was the philosophy she based the famous
"little black dress" (Fig. 1). on, which was "a sort of uniform for all women of taste" (Journal Star) and created a chance for women of all social classes

Any inappropriate information included in the message can lead to misunderstanding and misinterpretation by the receiver. Organisations spend a lot of
money and time on market research to understand the needs and demand and the extent of the understanding of their consumers (Fill, 2002).
Signal and Channel:
Encoded message has to be put in form of signal that is capable of being transmitted. Channel is the means through which the message is to be
transmitted to the receiver from the source. Channel can be personal or non–personal. Non–personal channel is may be mass media advertising which
can reach a large number of audiences at a time where personal channels such as face–to–face contacts and word of mouth communication can be much
more effective and influential and that's probably because these communications are more flexible and can change with the circumstances.
Decoding, Receiver and Realms of Understandings:
After receiving the message the receiver(s), the target audience interprets the message and converts into thought. This process is called decoding. There
are few factors that influence and impact this process namely, experiences, perceptions, attitudes, behaviour and values of both source and receiver. It is
more likely to have a successful communication if the source and receiver understand each other or have some common ground in the realms of
understandings. Before any organisations go for any advertising they research the realms of

The ad industry is a necessary evil. This paper will examine how advertisements use marketing strategies to reach the viewer's subconscious. To help

1.3 New Labour 'Tough on Crime'
The way in which young people are represented and understood in relation to crime has changed rapidly over the last century, undoubtedly the biggest
change came about after the moral panic caused by the murder of the toddler James Bulger by two 10–year–old boys in February 1993. Since then
youth crime in general has been at the centre of public, media and government scrutiny.
Not wanting to appear soft on crime Tony Blair as shadow home secretary in 1993 declared that Labour would be "tough on crime and tough on the
causes of crime". He laid down the contours of New Labour's so called 'respect agenda'. In which he differentiated between what he called the
'law–abiding majority' and the 'unruly minority'. Thus there has been no surprise that under the New Labour Government young people have become

Music Content Comparison
The purpose of this content analysis was to compare and contrast how two artist of reggae music from different eras developed their movement and
how they each had a different style. The two artists examined are from the same family, they are father Bob Marley and son Ziggy Marley. We
examine how they both essentially had a different voice yet still held onto the roots of reggae. Extensive research was done on their backgrounds, their
upbringings, their environment, and belief systems. It was important to gather research about what reggae means to them and what voice they wanted
to portray to their audience. Much of the literature gathered was through the internet, using the campus library online database. The sources gathered
from the online database were; magazine articles, music encyclopedias, interviews and academic research articles and journals. ... Show more content

Music Therapy And Alzheimer's
Memory is what creates the world around us: our sense of self, our relation to the people around us, and the world we inhabit. Without it, we would
live in a cloud of confusion and a lack of purpose. With this in mind, what would we do if our brains began to deteriorate, often rapidly; if our
memories disappeared, if we could not remember our parents, our children, our own names? These are some of the effects of Alzheimer's disease, an
irreversible, progressive brain disorder that slowly destroys memory and thinking skills, and eventually the ability to carry out the simplest tasks. While
scientists and doctors diligently search for a cure for this debilitating disease, there are treatments to slow down the degeneration and temporarily

What one can conclude from the studies is that music does seem to show some intrinsic benefit for memory, and has memory triggering effects for
patients with Alzheimer's. One reason cited for this could be that memory is held in primarily the hippocampus and medial temporal areas–the same
areas which are the first to degenerate with the onset of Alzheimer's– and music is held in multiple cortical and subcortical areas including the basal
ganglia, hypothalamus and cerebellum which are affected slower in Alzheimer's patients. However, the deviation with healthy adults raises questions.
Though the researchers are unclear about this divergence, the results from this study were some of the most promising with music therapy and
Alzheimer's. These results lead us to questions whether music allows people to code information using different parts of the brain, or if it merely
stimulates and helps people pay more attention. These questions remain unanswered but are central to understanding Alzheimer's and how music can
be helped to retrieve

Furthermore, Huxley argues that "essays belong to a literary species whose extreme variability can be studied most effectively within a three–poled
frame of reference". These three poles (or worlds in which the essay may exist) are:
The personal and the autobiographical: The essayists that feel most comfortable in this pole "write fragments of reflective autobiography and look at
the world through the keyhole of anecdote and description". The objective, the factual, and the concrete–particular: The essayists that write from this
pole "do not speak directly of themselves, but turn their attention outward to some literary or scientific or political theme. Their art consists on setting
forth, passing judgement upon, and drawing general conclusions from the relevant data". The abstract–universal: In this pole "we find those essayists
who do their work in the world of high abstractions", who are never personal and who seldom mention the particular facts of experience.
Huxley adds that "the most richly satisfying essays are those which make the best not of one, not of two, but of all the three worlds in which it is
possible for the essay to exist".
The word essay derives from the French infinitive essayer, "to try" or "to attempt". In English essay first meant "a trial" or "an attempt", and this is still
an alternative meaning. The Frenchman Michel de Montaigne (1533–1592) was the first author to describe his work

Impact Of Technology On The Music Industry
Over the years, music has become portable, starting with the transistor to a set of headphones. Technology has allowed us to create a diverse
musical culture. Music will always have an effect on one's culture, and it has definitely mad a huge impact on the use of technology. Cultural
diversity is about bringing people closer together though the World Wide Web. Many music publishers are the key to cultural diversity when it
comes to publishing all genres. They will increasingly continue to play a part in promoting diversity by bringing music of all kinds and forms to the
music market. The way we access and listen to music has changed a lot in the music industry. For some, it may seem easier to download your favorite
song from your favorite artist, but there are rules to the file–sharing and downloading of music. Before there was file–sharing, people would gather in
concert halls for impressive music from some of the best known composers of all time. Today, there has been an abundance of ways to access and
listen to music, in writing this paper, my goal is to discuss copyright laws, file–sharing, and the progression of how we access music.
Before we reached the electronic musical era, there was good old fashion concert halls. People would gather together in the concert halls to see many
different composers perform, all from which were in different eras; the Baroque, Classical, and Romantic era. By the year 1877, Thomas Edison had
discovered how to record and reproduce sound

How Creativity Can Be Developed And Exercised
If anyone were to trace back to the beginnings of any civilization, creativity would be evidenced through its people 's culture and development . In
fact, creativity can be found in the underpinnings of problem solving for survival, like the invention of the wheel and discovery of fire (Gladding,
2008). Even more contemporary advancements in counseling can find it's roots in seeking to meet needs and solve problems. Because counselors are
held in high regard by most of their clients, it is important for today's counselors to have the background knowledge and current awareness of best
practices and contemporary trend in counseling.
As presented in the article entitled The Impact of Creativity in Counseling (Gladding, 2008), creativity has always been an essential element in the
development of counseling and is crucial for the continued progress of the counseling profession The article presents the case that counselors' creativity
should be developed and exercised "studying expressive arts, reading widely, traveling, and observing human nature from multiple perspectives"
(Gladding, 2008). These suggestions can further enhance counseling skills and techniques, which in turn will always keep the counseling profession
relevant in an ever–changing and developing world. In the In this paper, it is my aim to explore this article in regard to its strengths and weaknesses in
presenting the used of creativity in counseling, how it relates to my current studies as an aspiring school

Grunge Subculture Paper
The subculture that I am interested in studying for this project is grunge. Specifically, I am interested in studying how a culture rooted in its
anti–mainstream identity became a dominate social force in the early 1990s.
As a genre, grunge is defined by its heavily–distorted guitar and melancholic angst–filled lyrics. Loud volume and slow tempo add to the gloomy feel
of the music. Artists and fans are easy to identify by their unkempt appearances. Flannel shirts, torn jeans, army boots, and greasy hair are integral parts
of the grunge look. Thrifting, still common among people trying to express their anti–mainstream sentiments through their clothing, was popularized by
the grunge look. Grunge bands were also known to focus on the actual music at live concerts instead of focusing on pure entertainment. Both the music
and the style of grunge subculture is deliberately stripped–down – in a word, grunge is "raw." ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Realness in grunge, to my understanding, is achieved by maximizing one's discord with mainstream society, replacing optimism, valuing appearance,

what it is about grunge's sound that appeals to

A Brief Note On The Country Music Association Awards
What I Already Knew/What I Wanted to Know This November, for the first time ever, I watched the Country Music Association Awards (CMAs).
Actually, let 's be completely honest, I watched 6 glorious minutes and 17 seconds of the CMAs: Beyonce preforming Daddy Lessons with The
Dixie Chicks. Once my favorite performer exited the stage I promptly clicked my Roku TV off and opened up my Snapchat app to post my feelings
about Daddy Lessons being one of the few country songs I've listened to that I actually enjoy. My sister goes on about how I'm the ultimate relativist
and that I'd find a way to turn Leopold II into a political hero. Obviously she's being hyperbolic when she makes a statement like that, but I do pride
myself on having the ability to see treasure in presumed trash. However, what made this research so much fun was that I discovered Country music is
layered and so far from trash that finding the treasure in it was as easy as it was enjoyable.
One thing I knew going in was that although a large amount of people do not enjoy Country music, a vast amount of people do; and the people
who love it, really love it. The lovers of this type of music typically reside on the lower half of the country and tend to have a strong affinity for
boots and cowboy hats. Although I didn't know the specifics of the history of Country music before I began researching, I did know the history of the
genre was old and rich. An example of Country Music's age and wealth can be found in its

Country Music in O Brother, Where Art Thou? Essay
Country Music in O Brother, Where Art Thou?
Abstract: This essay explores the way white trash identity is performed through country music. In particular, the focus is on the way the film O
Brother, Where Art Thou? (Joel Coen, 2001) uses a soundtrack of 'old–timey' country music from the 1920s and 30s to aurally assist the film's white
trash aesthetic. Various culturalcritics (Barbara Ching) and music historians (Richard Peterson) have already documented the way country music is
white trash music. Such histories are drawn upon to demonstrate the way country music is used to authenticate white trash as rural, impoverished,
simple–minded and sweet. The authenticity of white trash often depends on an authentic performance of country ... Show more content on

This useful definition identifies the way white trash is seen as radically different from those who are just white. When something white is marked, it
loses its whiteness and can no longer call itself 'white'; it must acknowledge its off–whiteness, its white trashness. To be both white and marked in this
sense is to be dirtied, defiled and decentred. As a category, white trash disrupts the neutrality, normativity and cultural dominance implied by whiteness.
Richard Dyer argues that whiteness 'secures its dominance by seeming to be nothing in particular' (1988: 44). To characterise somebody as white trash
is to acknowledge and mark their shortcomings in terms of race and class, rendering whiteness visible in the process. As such, white trash is the 'film'
on whiteness. By 'film', I am referring here to the thin layer of scum that reminds whiteness of its poor relations.[1]
Set in Mississippi, 1937, O Brother, Where Art Thou? is a film about white trash people struggling to make ends meet during the Great Depression.
The white trashness of the film' s three main characters is consistently emphasised by its overall 'look'. This is largely due to Roger Deakins'
cinematography which is bleached of colour,[2] emphasising the hot, arid landscape, as well as the rural setting of economic hardship. The film begins
in a softly diffused black and white, depicting a chain–gang of slaves performing hard labour in a desolate, expansive

Music Therapy: The Effect Of Music On Anxiety
The Effect of Music on Anxiety Introduction to the Problem Annually, almost 26 % of adults (over the age of 18) suffer from a mental illness or
about 57.7 million people, 45% of those have two or more mental illnesses (Lee & Thyer, 2013). In 1955, the United States had 558, 239 state
psychiatric beds or 340 beds per 100,000 population, but now the U.S. has 35,000 state psychiatric beds or 11 beds per 100,000 population.
Nationwide this has created a shortage of psychiatric beds. It is not uncommon to wait for days in medical emergency rooms for a psychiatric bed
because of the limited number of psychiatric beds (Torrey, 2016). When patients are not seen within six hours in any emergency room it is considered...

the studies with respect to: (1) diversity of methods used; (2) no standard means of selecting music; (3) absent nonmusical control conditions; (3) many
of the studies never revealed the type of music used. Only two studies allowed participants to choose their own music, when participant–selected music

Negative Influence Of Rap Music
"Turn that off! I don't like the language in that song!" Music containing explicit lyrics is becoming the new normal for teens these days. Genres of
music such as rap and hip–hop have received negative criticism about their music due to its lyrics talking about drugs, sex, violence and alcohol. Along
with that, hatred towards women, gays, lesbians, and minorities have also been exposed in various songs. Little do these artists know that their music
is affecting the youth in destructive ways. Teens look at artists and idolize them for their "great" work.
Along with the explicit music, comes the explicit music videos. Many music videos in the rap and hip–hop world contain graphic images of half naked
women, drugs, and alcohol. The reason as to why these things are put in artists' videos is because it attracts people to watch it and the views on their

Little Richard's Influence on Rock 'N' Roll History
Little Richard's Influence on Rock and Roll Rock and roll music emerged as a part of American teen culture during the notably conservative time period
in the country's history which shortly followed the traumatic events of World War II. Being that the genre's target audience was white teenagers, many
Americans– already overwhelmed and on–edge due to the anti–communist movement inspired by the Cold War– were apprehensive about the influence
that this up–and–coming style of music might have on their country's future. America's youth openly accepted rock and roll's racially integrated culture
of performers and embraced the relatively lewd nature of many songs and performances associated with the genre, much to the dismay of their elders....

In order to dance and play piano at the same time, Little Richard stood (not sat) in front of the instrument– yet another feature of his performance that
was specific to him. Little Richard aimed to gain the attention of his fans by creating an entirely original and exciting performance act. In order to do
so, Richard created an image that was totally outside of society's definition of normal, respectable, and safe. His image was only half of his act, though.
It's unlikely that there were many 'respectable' white, American parents around in the 1950's that were comfortable with the idea of Little Richard
having any type of influence over the generation deemed the 'future' of their country, much less over their specific children. If there had been anyone
left straddling that fence, however, contemplating just how harmful a 24–year–old performer with a whacky haircut and face full of make up could
really be, it would be safe to assume that they had never actually heard the man sing. The lewd, scandalous lyrics that completed Little Richard's
unorthodox self–presentation would have provided the final push that landed the aforementioned fence straddler on the opposite side of Richard's
performance, and confirmed the popular idea that "rock's

Analyzing Art: An Analysis Of Imagine By John Lennon
Analyzing Art
Although examining art requires a huge knowledge, my intention in this essay is to analyze a piece of art, besides lyrics and the context, I'm going to

Defining art has always been a contentious question that didn't get a particular answer. Based on the definitions found in Oxford dictionary online, "Art
is any inspired activity produced by human' imaginations and their inventive skills" (Oxford Dictionary). I did choose the song "Imagine" by the
British singer John Lennon as a piece of art to be analyzed. According to The Internet Movie Database (IMDb), "John Lennon was an English singer

  • 1. Copyright Protection on Internet LEGAL ENVIRONMENT OF BUSINESS COPYRIGHT PROTECTION ON INTERNET (08BS0001781) SECTION–F Contents {text:bookmark–start} INTRODUCTION {text:bookmark–end} {text:bookmark–start} 1.1 About Intellectual Property [1] {text:bookmark–end} It is not material wants that seek ownership, but the ideas, skills and moral aspirations need equal protection. It refers to creations of the mind: inventions, literary and artistic works, symbols, names, images, and designs used in commerce. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While India has entered the global patent regime, awareness and expertise on the subject of IPR in India is still highly inadequate. Present skills do not extend towards protecting indigenous inventions or understanding the implications of patents granted to competitors. Further, the ability to read or write patents is grossly lacking when viewed in the context of global practices. Indian industry and businessmen cannot afford to be indifferent to these new requirements. India's knowledge–based industries will be looking at filing international patents and their skills in filing, reading and exploring patents will be very crucial in the years to come. Lawyers and Law firms are most useful in assisting various IPR management, protection and infringement of patents in India and abroad. Any attorney may register trademarks or copyrights, or initiate or defend any kind of IP litigation. Yet, because many attorneys are unfamiliar with IP fundamentals, small business owners should seek advice of specialists. Most people know enough about real estate property, rough cost according to its location. They also know to clear title before making a purchase or commencing construction. However, when it comes to IPR, most of them are ignorant and offer comparatively cheap insurances against the risk. Few people starting businesses have equivalent knowledge ... • 3. A Clockwork Orange Essay: A Movie Analysis A Clockwork Orange A Movie Analysis In 1962, Anthony Burgess' novel A Clockwork Orange was published for the first time. This novel was an anti –utopian fable about the near future, where teenage gangs habitually terrorize the inhabitants of a shabby metropolis. The novel deals with the main focus that man is a sinner but not sufficiently a sinner to deserve the calamities that are heaped upon him. It is a comic novel about a man's tragic lot. (Bergonzi 152). In 1971, Stanley Kubrick turned Burgess' novel into a 136 minute, color motion picture produced by Warner Brothers. The only difference is that due to time constraints, the film leaves out a few minor scenes of the droogs (Burgess' term for ruffians) committing acts of violence. The film is divided into three parts, as is the novel. The first part is the description of Alex's exploits in "ultraviolence." He and his fellow gang members (droogs) spend their time committing a series of rapes, robberies, and assaults, usually aimed at completely defenseless people. The attacks are pathological and random. The second part of the film is filled with a different sort of brutality. Alex is in prison, but still continues his violent ways. The authorities preach obedience, but Alex and the other inmates respond by attacking one another. Alex is sentenced to a new form of psychological treatment that transforms him into a parody of the perfect Christian. He behaves morally and follows the values that were forced upon him by the State. He has no free will to chose his own thoughts and actions. The third part occurs when Alex returns to the real world; a more peaceful and prosperous world, free of violence. Violence has been institutionalized. In the concluding vision Alex recovers and returns to the pleasures in bloody violence and the music of Ludwig Van Beethoven. (Gottlieb 271– 272) ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It was September 2009, a week after the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) ceremony that had seen Gaga win a coveted Best New Artist award and that had featured a spectacular performance of her hit song Paparazzi–ending with the singer–songwriter, covered in fake blood, dangling from the ceiling–but that had also led to the unraveling of Gaga's carefully crafted touring plans. Recorded Music By some estimates, the recorded–music business was an $8.5 billion industry in the U.S. (see Exhibit 1 for general trends in recorded–music revenues, and Exhibit 2a for the bestselling artists in recorded music in 2008). Physical sales had fallen markedly since the early 2000s, while digital sales had grown to be a $1.6 billion share.1 Further declines of physical recorded–music sales were widely expected, as several brick–and–mortar music retailers were struggling and mass merchants dedicated less shelf space to music. Digital outlets such as Apple's iTunes store and Amazon had seen strong growth: tellingly, iTunes–accounting for roughly three quarters of all digital music sales–had overtaken Walmart to become the largest seller of recorded music. Artists and labels Popular artists tended to have an exclusive contract with a record company (or "record label"). Under the terms of such a record contract, artists usually committed to creating four to six albums' worth of music, while the label agreed to manufacture, distribute, and promote that music. Beginning artists could expect an advance–intended to cover living and other expenses–in the range of $200,000 to $300,000; superstars sometimes received up–front fees of $1 million ... In 1955, Cooke began cutting secular songs to make it big with Specialty Records, and became a hit instantly with his hits, "I'll Come Running Back to You," and "You Send Me" (Gulla, 114). His short career produced many memorable hits and records, and in the midst of it, Cooke served his black community in the struggle over civil rights. In parallel to the movement and in light of his son's tragic death and Bob Dylan's "Blowin' In the Wind," Cooke wrote, "A Change Is Gonna Come" in 1963 ("Song Facts"). Cultures use music to communicate and to express themselves. For example with African culture, they use music to represent their heritage, religious practices, storytelling and dance. Post hardcore music helps connect people around the United States and represent who they are. Post hardcore music developed from hardcore punk. In the mid to late 1980's bands such as Black Flag and Minor Threat started to make themselves known. Most of the bands that considered themselves to be part of this genre were formed in the Eastern part of the United States, a lot originating in Washington DC. An example of this would be the microscope and telescope, which now allow us to see things not possible before. Napster) that were used for most illegal electronic file sharing were not a pure form of peer to peer architecture because a client (peer) in search of a particular file (song), would first connect to a centralized site, and then be directed to a peer who would have that particular file. So, in a system like Napster, Napster did not provide songs to clients, it only provided a client with a place where it could acquire the songs. Now lets take a look at the legal issues involved with file sharing. In the recording industry, there are two copyright laws involved. The first one is the copyright of the musical composition, which deals with the lyrics and musical notes. This is usually owned by the songwriter or music publisher.4 The second law is the copyright in sound recording, which deals with the recording of the performer singing or playing a given song. This is usually owned by the record company.5 The law that is violated with electronic file sharing is the second one. Titles 17 and 18 of the U.S. Code protect copyright owners from the unauthorized reproduction, adaptation or distribution of sound recordings, as well as certain digital performances to the public.6 So, from the legal clauses, it can be interpreted that users of popular online sites such as Napster are engaging in unauthorized distribution of sound recordings. The online infringement of copyrighted music can be punished with several years in prison. 7 The most popular system ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

New product forms that provide real alternatives for the customer have encroached the soft drink market, bottled water, carbonated water, fruit–based drinks, and "new age" drinks, among others. One reason cited for this could be that memory is held in primarily the hippocampus and medial temporal areas–the same areas which are the first to degenerate with the onset of Alzheimer's– and music is held in multiple cortical and subcortical areas including the basal ganglia, hypothalamus and cerebellum which are affected slower in Alzheimer's patients. However, the deviation with healthy adults raises questions. Though the researchers are unclear about this divergence, the results from this study were some of the most promising with music therapy and Alzheimer's. • 28. A Brief Note On The Country Music Association Awards What I Already Knew/What I Wanted to Know This November, for the first time ever, I watched the Country Music Association Awards (CMAs). Actually, let 's be completely honest, I watched 6 glorious minutes and 17 seconds of the CMAs: Beyonce preforming Daddy Lessons with The Dixie Chicks. Once my favorite performer exited the stage I promptly clicked my Roku TV off and opened up my Snapchat app to post my feelings about Daddy Lessons being one of the few country songs I've listened to that I actually enjoy. My sister goes on about how I'm the ultimate relativist and that I'd find a way to turn Leopold II into a political hero. Obviously she's being hyperbolic when she makes a statement like that, but I do pride myself on having the ability to see treasure in presumed trash. However, what made this research so much fun was that I discovered Country music is layered and so far from trash that finding the treasure in it was as easy as it was enjoyable. One thing I knew going in was that although a large amount of people do not enjoy Country music, a vast amount of people do; and the people who love it, really love it. The lovers of this type of music typically reside on the lower half of the country and tend to have a strong affinity for boots and cowboy hats. Although I didn't know the specifics of the history of Country music before I began researching, I did know the history of the genre was old and rich. An example of Country Music's age and wealth can be found in its ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 29. Country Music in O Brother, Where Art Thou? Essay Country Music in O Brother, Where Art Thou? Abstract: This essay explores the way white trash identity is performed through country music. In particular, the focus is on the way the film O Brother, Where Art Thou? (Joel Coen, 2001) uses a soundtrack of 'old–timey' country music from the 1920s and 30s to aurally assist the film's white trash aesthetic. Various culturalcritics (Barbara Ching) and music historians (Richard Peterson) have already documented the way country music is white trash music. Such histories are drawn upon to demonstrate the way country music is used to authenticate white trash as rural, impoverished, simple–minded and sweet. The authenticity of white trash often depends on an authentic performance of country ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This useful definition identifies the way white trash is seen as radically different from those who are just white. When something white is marked, it loses its whiteness and can no longer call itself 'white'; it must acknowledge its off–whiteness, its white trashness. To be both white and marked in this sense is to be dirtied, defiled and decentred. As a category, white trash disrupts the neutrality, normativity and cultural dominance implied by whiteness. Richard Dyer argues that whiteness 'secures its dominance by seeming to be nothing in particular' (1988: 44). To characterise somebody as white trash is to acknowledge and mark their shortcomings in terms of race and class, rendering whiteness visible in the process. As such, white trash is the 'film' on whiteness. By 'film', I am referring here to the thin layer of scum that reminds whiteness of its poor relations.[1] Set in Mississippi, 1937, O Brother, Where Art Thou? is a film about white trash people struggling to make ends meet during the Great Depression. The white trashness of the film' s three main characters is consistently emphasised by its overall 'look'. This is largely due to Roger Deakins' cinematography which is bleached of colour,[2] emphasising the hot, arid landscape, as well as the rural setting of economic hardship. The film begins in a softly diffused black and white, depicting a chain–gang of slaves performing hard labour in a desolate, expansive ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Music Therapy: The Effect Of Music On Anxiety The Effect of Music on Anxiety Introduction to the Problem Annually, almost 26 % of adults (over the age of 18) suffer from a mental illness or about 57.7 million people, 45% of those have two or more mental illnesses (Lee & Thyer, 2013). In 1955, the United States had 558, 239 state psychiatric beds or 340 beds per 100,000 population, but now the U.S. has 35,000 state psychiatric beds or 11 beds per 100,000 population. Nationwide this has created a shortage of psychiatric beds. It is not uncommon to wait for days in medical emergency rooms for a psychiatric bed because of the limited number of psychiatric beds (Torrey, 2016). • 31. Negative Influence Of Rap Music "Turn that off! I don't like the language in that song!" Music containing explicit lyrics is becoming the new normal for teens these days. Genres of music such as rap and hip–hop have received negative criticism about their music due to its lyrics talking about drugs, sex, violence and alcohol. Along with that, hatred towards women, gays, lesbians, and minorities have also been exposed in various songs. Little do these artists know that their music is affecting the youth in destructive ways. Teens look at artists and idolize them for their "great" work. Along with the explicit music, comes the explicit music videos. Many music videos in the rap and hip–hop world contain graphic images of half naked women, drugs, and alcohol. The reason as to why these things are put in artists' videos is because it attracts people to watch it and the views on their videos go up. • 32. Little Richard's Influence on Rock 'N' Roll History Little Richard's Influence on Rock and Roll Rock and roll music emerged as a part of American teen culture during the notably conservative time period in the country's history which shortly followed the traumatic events of World War II. Being that the genre's target audience was white teenagers, many Americans– already overwhelmed and on–edge due to the anti–communist movement inspired by the Cold War– were apprehensive about the influence that this up–and–coming style of music might have on their country's future. America's youth openly accepted rock and roll's racially integrated culture of performers and embraced the relatively lewd nature of many songs and performances associated with the genre, much to the dismay of their elders.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In order to dance and play piano at the same time, Little Richard stood (not sat) in front of the instrument– yet another feature of his performance that was specific to him. Little Richard aimed to gain the attention of his fans by creating an entirely original and exciting performance act. In order to do so, Richard created an image that was totally outside of society's definition of normal, respectable, and safe. His image was only half of his act, though. It's unlikely that there were many 'respectable' white, American parents around in the 1950's that were comfortable with the idea of Little Richard having any type of influence over the generation deemed the 'future' of their country, much less over their specific children. If there had been anyone left straddling that fence, however, contemplating just how harmful a 24–year–old performer with a whacky haircut and face full of make up could really be, it would be safe to assume that they had never actually heard the man sing. The lewd, scandalous lyrics that completed Little Richard's unorthodox self–presentation would have provided the final push that landed the aforementioned fence straddler on the opposite side of Richard's performance, and confirmed the popular idea that "rock's ... Analyzing Art: An Analysis Of Imagine By John Lennon Analyzing Art Although examining art requires a huge knowledge, my intention in this essay is to analyze a piece of art, besides lyrics and the context, I'm going to examine it by following the steps presented by Alain de Botton. Defining art has always been a contentious question that didn't get a particular answer. Based on the definitions found in Oxford dictionary online, "Art is any inspired activity produced by human' imaginations and their inventive skills" (Oxford Dictionary). I did choose the song "Imagine" by the British singer John Lennon as a piece of art to be analyzed. One of the main reasons that I go to this site after the fact is that the way that the site tells his story is broken down into different points about him so you read about his life but it is out of order and harder to follow. People who just want a taste of the artist would use this or those who want to read about his story without going to deep into it. I would say this is a more of an historical account of his life and should be viewed as such. The last site is Johnny Cash's dedicated site "johnnycash.com".
