Essay about Product Life Cycle Analysis For The Apple Ipod
The alarm clock rings and its time to go for a jog and get the morning routine off to a good start.
After my morning jog I take a shower while listening to my favorite high energy time to wake up
music. The weather channel says it is going to be a rainy morning, so I grab my umbrella and
head for the door. During the car ride I toggle between the news and my French audio lessons. All
of these events are done through the use of a little device that seems to be everywhere you look.
For the past years we have seen how APPLE Computers Inc. has not only introduced the Ipodinto
the market for music players, but created the new must have pop icon. The following is a brief
analysis of the product life cycle of iPods. iPods were first... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

All of which create similar players that incorporate design and functionality. Although some of
these are household names none has been able to dethrone the iPod from being the icon for
digital jukeboxes. The first casualty that fell to the iPod was the iRiver Rio that could not
compete with the loyalty people have for Apple. Part of the iPod secret is the iTunes software.
This is a platform where you can download music into your iPod and organize the files. It offers a
library of over three million songs from very diverse genres of music. Others have tried to
mimic this concept but have not been able to create the following that iPod has. An example of
these failed ventures is the Sone Connect store which is attempting to offer Sony s MiniDisc
player as an alternative to Apple s iPod. Even Wal Mart, Amazon.com and Tower Records are
also seeking a piece of the action by selling individual songs for a cheaper price than iTunes by
adding these retailers the market is growing and becoming more and more competitive. It can be a
safe assumption that Apple s iTunes internet downloadable music will partly replace the traditional
channels through which music had been distributed in the past. It is evident that since its
emergence into the market this little monster has gobbled up the market share of digital music
gadgets. Apple has been able to directly penetrate the market and enable a quick adoption for the
iPod.

The Criminal Code Is Responsible For Controlling Firearms
Canada, like Australia, saw a mass shooting in 1989 that acted as a catalyst for change in gun
policy in Canada. On December 6, 1989 a male, aged 25 went into the Г‰cole Polytechnique de
MontrГ©al (Patel). The male had a 223 caliber rifle in his possession (Patel). One that day there
was 14 women who were shot, and 14 who were injured (Patel). Marc LГ©pine, the offender,
stated to the women as he was killing them that he was doing this since they were feminists and
he did not want them to become engineers since they would be taking jobs from men (Patel).
This shooting unlike any other that had been seen in Canada s history. In Canada, the Firearms
Act, and the Criminal Code are responsible for controlling firearms (Library of Congress Canada
1). The Criminal Code is responsible for defining the main categories of firearms, which include
restricted, prohibited, and non restricted firearms (Library of Congress Canada 1). The Firearms
Act is responsible for regulating the possession, transport, and storage of firearms (Library of
Congress Canada 1). In Canada it is required that you have a license and register your firearmin
order to legally own one (Library of Congress Canada 1). The licensing and registration are set
forth and administered by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) (Library of Congress

Mexican American And Mexican Americans Essay
Introduction
One of the largest Hispanic origin population in the United states are Mexicans (Gonzales Barrera
Lopez, 2013). Mexican American s are considered minorities in the United States. There are many
reason why I am choosing to explore Mexican Americans for this paper. As a minority myself, I can
relate to some of the struggles that Mexican American s may face. However, there are some things
that I will never relate to or know the personal aspect of the Mexican culture. Just like any other
population, Mexican Americans have their own culture, values, and challenges.
Strengths
Mexican Americans find their strength through their culture, family, relationships and networks.
Mexican Americans have strengths with their extended family. Mexican American families
frequently function within extended family networks that include godparents and members of
other families (Miley, M., L., 2013). There is more advantage when you have more network with
extended family and other families. It essentially means a larger support system. One of the major
strengths of Mexican American families is a quantitative rather than a qualitative difference from
other ethnic groups (Miley, M., L., 2013). Some people may not realize that Mexican Americans
tend to stick together and support each other because it is a part of their cultural background. Just
like religion is a part of Mexican American s cultural background as well. Most of the time
Mexican American s share similar spiritual

Ufos And Aliens Research Paper
For decades there has always been the world wide question, Do UFO s and Aliens exists? That
question has yet to be answered. Yukon, Canada has had multiple sighting around the same
regional area. The reported size of the semi spherical UFO is over a mile in diameter, or bigger
than a football stadium and light patterns that none of our aircrafts are seen to have. Only a
handful of people have laid their eyes on the magnificent mystery in the sky. This case involves
over 30 eyewitnesses and plenty of documentation of what appears to be a massive UFO that
appeared over the Klondike Highway in the Yukon Territory of Canada on December 11th, 1996.
The Mothership has been seen in 3 different areas around Yukon, Canada; Fox lake, Pelly Crossing,

saucer quickly accelerated towards him. Trudeau covered the flashlight then the craft came to a
standstill about 300 meters away from him. Trudeau said, There were other beams emanating
from the craft as well; a greenish phosphorescent color beam shone horizontally out the front
(right); two beams at the back (left) rotated slowly to a horizontal position. All the beams could
be seen clearly as there were ice crystals in the air. PEL1 turned away from the UFO momentarily
and ran across a small clearing . (Don Trudeau) This does not appear to be the same description
as the witnesses from Fox Lake. The other witnesses of the Pelly Crossing Incident were from
four women taking a short break from classes at a small college. The reported beams of lights
heading towards them with a slight northern vector. They reported the object as huge with no

The world is very unequal because Geographic location affects what crops a civilization can
grow and how they develop because a civilization can grow a variety of crops on different
continents which rely on the weather and the climate which depends upon where the civilization
is located. In the middle east is where civilizations grew wheat and wheat is high in protein and last
a very long time as long as it is dry. Unlike sago is what they grew in papua new guinea, the sago is
low in protein and only last three to four days. This is what affects the health and well being of the

Sheep, goat, cow and pigs came from Southwest Asia. Cow also came from India and North

may have that animal.
Steel affects the development of civilizations because steel was revolutionary for industry and
has helped build things like really good weapons and the stainless steal last a very long time.
Civilizations developed steel when people were on their breaks from agriculture and started

1931 China Research Paper
The China floods of 1931 is known as possibly the worst natural disaster of all time. The 1931
Chinese floods were a series of horrible floods that decimated China and lasted around three
months. The death toll ranges from one hundred and forty five thousand to four million people
and floods were estimated to have affected over twenty eight million people. Large amounts of
people drowned during the flood but some died from waterborne diseases. The cause for the
floods were many independent variables which combined to create a dramatic flood that came to
China overnight. This natural disaster could have actually been averted if proper flood control
measures had been put in place and followed. Three major rivers were affected by the 1931 China

The Apple Tv Essay
I ve possessed each Apple TV that has been discharged. I trust era one I bought a year after
discharge and it had a 40GB physical hard drive and you could match up substance to it by means
of iTunes over the system or you could stream substance to it by means of the system. The sync
usefulness was somewhat unbalanced. The Apple TVbasically acted like a major iPod. It had a
40GB and 160GB form and was essentially Apple s Front Row programming in a gadget that had
Component/HDMI ports. Apple TV required a HDTV which truly just implied a 16:9 perspective
proportion 720P set. These weren t difficult to find yet they were absolutely pricier than we have
today. I can t consider anybody that matched up motion pictures to their Apple TV and after that
unplugged the case to bring it with them on an outing. The likelihood of the Apple TV wasn t
generally a major draw. I for the most part appreciated the capacity to watch content that I had in
iTuneson my TV set. The second era Apple TV was littler because of the absence of a hard drive
and it moved to a spilling from iTunes model over watching content put away on the Apple TV
itself. it likewise picked up the capacity for clients to lease movies or purchase content from the
Apple TV however it was restricted to 720P substance most likely because of handling force. I
purchased a third Generation Apple TV to supplant my second era which was an excruciating
period in light of the fact that the fundamental offering purpose of

A Narrative Of The Captivity Analysis
Though taken prisoner, the captured have mixed emotions towards their masters. The captives
become more comfortable in their environment, they begin eating their food and enjoying their
culture. The captives forget their situations when their captors show even a little compassion,
they begin to praise them when in reality the captors have only given them skewed freedoms.
Yet, the captives begin to want to be a part of their community and begin to hate themselves for
those thoughts. The narrator of Captivity strikes the earth uselessly in her dream where she
yearns to be a part of a Native American ritual, because she knows she never can truly take part.
Though the captee s vision can be blurred by their closeness to the situation, the readers can see
that the captors treat the captured with no human understanding by taking away their families.
Ultimately, captors are portrayed negatively, even if their captives begin to want to be like them
by eating their foods and yearning to be a part of their traditions. In Mary Rowlandson s. A
Narrative of the Captivity, Rowlandson becomes more comfortable with her captors and their
culture, by feeling comfortable with the people, though she is still in captivity and has limited
freedoms. The captive becomes comfortable enough with her surroundings to ask one of the
Native Americans to pay her for her services. She has lost some of the fear she once had. She goes
into wigwams without fear of being hurt by the unknown tribe members.

The Culture Of An Organization
The culture of an organization is like a river. It can be fluid, strong and consistent, serving as
lubricant while guiding its members in the right direction. In contrast a river can become stale and
toxic, silently killing those who drink at its shore.1
Ron Kaufman
Tyco International was nearly ruined because of the unethical corporate culture Kozlowski was
implementing. According to a study on leadership and organizational culture by T. Gilberson et al.,
the values within the organization can be linked to the personality characteristics of the CEO. It is
upper management that is believed to be the primary influence on the creation and development of
organizational culture.2
Kozlowski put policies in place to misappropriate the funds of the company, these policies directly
violated company culture. The other directors began to follow these policies even thought they
knew it went against company policy. Why? According to social cognitive theory, individuals are
proactively involved in their own development; What people think, believe, and feel affects how
they behave . 4 If we believe this statement to be true than why were the subordinates at Tyco
influenced by the leaders to engage in unethical corporate culture. We could consider D. Lease s
explanation that control through culture is so powerful that once these values are internalized; they
become part of the individual s values, and the individual follows organizational values without
thinking about them.5 Another

Macbeth Diary Entry
Day 1
Today Three strange witches approached me when Banquo and I were coming back from battle.
When they approached me they told me that I Macbeth shall be named Thane of Cawdor and
they also told me that I will be king of scotland.... But how! Will something happen to king
duncan. I m not sure if I believe what they have told me. What would happen to Duncan that
would put me in power? I shouldn t focus too much on the witches because their witches for
crying out loud they re probably crazy for all I know. But enough about that we put down the
rebellion at Cawdor today.Today s was an alright day because we beat the rebellion at cawdor but I
just keep thinking about what the witches say.. Who am I kidding me thane of cawdor or king, as

I.Attention Step:
a.Attention getter: About 85% of breast cancers occur in women who have NO (make sure to
emphasize) family history of breast cancer. This disease occurs mainly in women but men can also
get it.
b.Why should we care? According to (Bender, 2012) 40,000 women and approximately 390 men
will die this year from breast cancer. Cancer does not discriminate; it could be someone you know.
It could be you.
c.
d.According to breastcancer.org, Breast Cancer is the most common cancer among women
worldwide and the second most common cancer overall. In 2016, an estimated 247,000 cases of
invasive breast cancer will be diagnosed in the U.S. alone. So no matter who you are or where you
live, understanding breast cancer is very important. But the most important thing to know is that a
diagnosis is NOT a death sentence, it can be treated.
Transition Statement
II.Need/Problem Step:
a.According to genetics and social science research there are striking differences between White
and minority populations affected with breast cancer in the U.S. These disparities are likely due to
a combination of cultural, environmental and genetic factors that differ between the groups.
Historically, scientists have separately explored either the genetic or the social/behavioral
contributions to cancer. The research team profiled in this case study takes the position that we

Being Bullied And Having No Recollection Essay
The Third Grade: Being bullied and having no recollection Introduction There comes a point in
life when most young students are bullied. Some students experience worse bullying than others
and suffer more greatly from it. According to US studies, One out of every four students (22%)
report being bullied during the school year. (National Center for Educational Statistics, 2015) 64
percent of children who were bullied did not report it; only 36 percent reported the bullying.
(Pacer s, 2016) Most children do not report it, leading to their self esteem dropping to an all time
low. Whether the child turns to God or has a friend as their saving grace, it is important that they
get through those troubles. My Experience The time in my life when I was bullied was a very
rough patch and unfortunately a time that I have no memory of. My brain has seemed to block
out these events from my mind as I have no recollection of the third grade. I was bullied at a
very young age due to my shyness. The second reason I was bullied was due to the fact I was
one of the youngest students in the class and also extremely tiny for my age. I fit in better
playing with the boys because they were more friendly and just as smart as me, and I was much
more girly than the other 8 girls in my class. By the time I was in first grade my only two friends
had moved to other schools. Because of this I was left very secluded. One of the first examples the
bullying that happened was because of my size many of the

Compare And Contrast Virginia And Massachusetts Bay Colonies
English colonization of the New World began in the late 16th century with several unsuccessful
attempts. However, this changed with the settlement of Jamestown, and later with the settlement of
Massachusetts Bay. Despite these settlements having similarities, they were fundamentally different
in most respects. From the areas where they settled, the reasoning behind each settlement, their
development, and the various problems and conflicts that arose in each. A uniqueness can be seen
between Virginiaand MassachusettsBay settlements beginning with the history of each.
The history of these two settlements begins in the early 17th century when King James I issued a
charter between two rival groups of merchants, the London Company (later renamed the Virginia
Company) whose interests were in colonizing Virginia, and the Plymouth Company who had
interests further north (Brinkley, 23). The charter gave the London Company exclusive rights to
colonize the south, and the Plymouth Company received the same rights for the north (Brinkley, 23
24). It is through the efforts of these companies that the first permanent English colonies would be
established (Brinkley, 24).
Once the charter had been issued the London Company quickly began to set up an expedition for
the colonization of Virginia, and on December 6, 1606, 144 men aboard three ships: the Godspeed,
the Discovery, and the Susan Constant set sail for the New World (Brinkley, 26). In the spring of
1607, the 105 settlers that

Innovation at International Food Essay
Abstract This paper provides a written analysis of the Innovation at International Foods (IFG)
case study. The paper will provide an analysis of the issues that Josh Novak, the new team
manager at IFG is facing with the existing staff. Josh has come for Glow Foods which was a
smaller company that has been purchased by IFG. Josh was retained due to the innovative ideas
that produced significant growth at Glow Foods by reaching the younger market. It has now
become his job at IFG to do the same. However, as Josh is becoming more acclimated to the way
things are done at IFG, he and his team are being bogged down with processes and procedures

They need to communicate their ideas effectively while addressing the concerns of the others.
Josh s team is a group of young and enthusiastic people; they are very talented and can more than
succeeded with the task at hand. However, they must take the concerns seriously and be
prepared to address them. In order for Josh and his team to overcome the uncertainty, they must
be clear with their objectives, they have to be easily understood by the rest of the team and the
organization so that they will be perceived as being achievable. When Josh addressed the team
and stated that they do not know the benefits, because they have not done this before (p. 233).
They did not gain any support for the team, and their understanding of IFG s strategy and vision
may be questioned. Uncertainty with Change One of the issues that is prevalent, but not
directly stated is the uncertainty with change. This is an issue with the existing staff and the
new staff as well. Josh comes from a smaller company where he had the ability to be innovative
and brainstorm new ways to help Glow Foods, he was able to implement quickly. At Glow
Foods they understood the power of social media tools and they took advantage of what they had
to offer. However at IFG, they need permission to even access Instant Messaging (IM) or

Urban Development And Reconstruction Of Cities
Contemporary cities face a dilemma in the modern world today; either they evolve in order to adapt
to the challenges which globalization bring about, or simply refuse to change and stagnate. At
present the global economy is at a fragile and unpredictable state, and for cities to continue to be
competitive they are directing their attention towards their own historical, cultural, social, assets
coupled with their own creative talents and spaces. The production, publication and campaign of
such events as, festivals, exhibitions and championships are important factors of urban
development and reconstruction of cities by way of economic prosperity, media coverage, image
building and tourism. Nevertheless, cities need to weigh in the factors of being an eventful city ,
which include, sustainability, security, the costs, interruptions and other social factors that comes
with this strategic objective. Through time, cities have evolved and transformed themselves, with
that the understanding of what cities are and their roles have also adapted How cities are
envisioned has effects. Urban designers and planners have ideas about how cities should look,
function and be lived, and these are translated into plans and built environments.. (Bridge Watson,
2001:350). During the medevel era, celebrations and events such as saints days or holy days
(where the word holiday is rooted from) and other festival celebrations played a key role in

A Scientist, By Aldous Huxley
When thinking of a scientist, the visual that often comes to mind would be that of a curious,
patient individual slaving away in a sterile environment. Scientists are often viewed by society as
quite droll, but in reality, they must be incredibly creative and intuitive in order to make scientific
discoveries. Children around the world often dream of making remarkable scientific discoveries,
although for some, unfortunate circumstances prevent them from working in scientific laboratories.
Whether it be due to a major illness or a physical defect, many inspired adolescents are kept from
their true passion, due to the demands of the field. These individuals are often forced into much
less favorable professions, but still retain the analytical mind of a prospective scientist. However,
those lucky few who are allowed to express their scientific interests through their alternate
occupations, typically novelists, often portray idealistic societies which have been driven forward
by scientific advances. One such disgruntled novelist, Aldous Huxley, allows his creativity to
flourish through his work, spouting a myriad of technological advancements which have allowed
society to become utopian. In Brave New World, author Aldous Huxley presents the reader with a
fanciful tale of scientific conquest and social upheaval, which ultimately degrades his reputation as
a credible scientist. Aldous Huxley, unlike many of his peers, was born into a highly prominent
family of intellectuals. His

How Did Robert Wars Show
Robert Warshow, author of The Immediate Experience: Movies, Comics, Theater and Other
Aspects of Popular Culture, was at once a student and teacher of experience. He was a lover of
popular culture in all forms, a New York Intellectual , and a disenchanted writer searching for the
cultural value in everything he saw, read or experienced. (denby 2001, xiii) Through reading his
collection of critical essays one can see Warshow as a Jewish man, with strong opinions about
communismand its affect on society, a movie buff, and a critic enamored with experience.
Experience both from the perspective of the artist, as well as the observer of the art. From the
beginning of his life, it seems, Robert Warshow was a man destine to be a political intellectual,
immersed in both history and the tensions of the moment. (denby 2001, XV) Growing up in
New York early in the twentieth century, and being the son of Adolph Warshow who at one
point ran for congress on the socialist ticket, Robert gained early insight into the political strain
of the time. A graduate of the University of Michigan, Warshow found himself an editor and
writer for the social democratic, anti stalinist magazine The New Leader. After the war, he began
working for Commentary as an editor, but also publishing his own work. This was a pivotal job
for him, as Commentary was widely known and read by other intellectuals of the time. (denby

Into Thin Air by Jon Krakauer
Jon Krakauer s group, on April 16th, began their 2nd acclimatization starting from base camp
and climbing up too camp one. Hall, the group leader decided that he would like the climbers to
stay at camp one for two nights, camp two for one night, then after that, go back to the base
camp. The next morning they left for camp two, which is about four miles above where they
were at camp one. On his way up, Krakauer sees a dead body. The dead body stuns him for a little
while but then he continues on up the mountain towards camp two. The group makes it up to
base two. The altitude greatly affected Krakauer he mentioned how all that he could do was rest
in his tent with his head in his hands. The next day, after feeling a little nit better, climbs a little
higher than camp two to work more on his acclimatization. While on his climb he comes across
another dead body but this one does not affect him as greatly as the previous one. Jon s group
began to climb; the wind chill was forty degrees below zero. Jon, before he left, expected the sun
to heat him up so he underdressed and then during the hike, became too cold to continue as his
hands and feet were completely numb. Everyone from Jon s group, except for Doug who is injured,

Tina and Dan-Birth Control Methods Essay
Tina and Dan are considering various birth control methods. They are a newly wed couple who
practiced abstinence before marriage and plan on starting their family with a year. Choose
possible methods of contraception for the couple and discuss the advantages and disadvantages
they would need to consider at the point in their lives. Due to the fact that Tina and Dan are
newly wed it would be safe to assume their sexual activities with each other will be plentiful.
Considering the fact they practiced abstinence prior to their marriage, it should also be safe to

The Theme of Hope in One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich
In Alexander Solzhenitsyn s novel One Day in the Life of
Ivan Denisovich, the strong themes of hope and perseverance are
undercut by the realization that for Ivan there is little or no
purpose in life. This is not to say that the themes of hope and
perseverance do not exist in the novel. There are numerous
instances in the novel where Shukhov is filled with hope.
However, these moments of hope amidst the banal narrative of the
novel raise the interesting question: Are these moments of hope
pointless? The answer to this question may lie more in the
individual human nature of the reader than in Solzhenitsyn s

Much of the Soviet leadership despised
Solzhenitsyn because he instilled within the Soviet people much
of the same hope that is visible in Ivan Denisovich Shukhov.
Solzhenitsyn gave people hope:
Solzhenitsyn s literary mission, the process of giving
voice to the tens of millions of victims of Soviet
terror, went on secretly, even collectively. Much of
Gulag was based on the hundreds of letters and memoirs
that former prisoners mailed to Solzhenitsyn after One
Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich was published.
Andropov had an intuitive sense that this new work
could do as much, in its way, to undermine Soviet power
as all the nuclear arsenals in the West. (Remnick 118)
Solzhenitsyn uses the every day occurrences of Ivan Denisovich
Shukhov s life to accentuate this point about humanity.
Shukhov s day began with reveille. Shukhov never slept through
reveille but always got up at once. That gave him about an hour
and a half to himself before the morning roll call (Solzhenitsyn
1). This short amount of time at the beginning of the day was
precious because it was the only time during the day, except for
a few minutes in the evening, that the prisoners had to
themselves. This short amount of time provided hope for the
prisoners in a number of ways. It was a time when anyone who
knew what was what in the camps could always scrounge

Daniel Gilbert Reporting Live From Tomorrow Analysis
Happiness in Old Age
In Daniel Gilbert s Reporting Live from Tomorrow , Gilbert makes use of statistics, studies, and
experiments to convey a multitude of ideas, primarily the concept that while many people are
opposed to, or are in disbelief of it, turning to surrogates as means of predicting our own future is
quite effective. Gilbert s concepts and theories are quite important to take into consideration not
only as a general message of how human beings tend to let factors such as their imagination or their
own self image cloud their perspective on the future, but rather as an alternative viewpoint and how
through surrogates, we are able to make more accurate predictions on our own future, such as what

It s a mindset like this that distances us from others because we believe that because our own
thoughts are subjective and different to those around us, making us unique to others regardless
of whether or not there s a similar goal. By looking past this, it allows us to be less hesitant in
looking at others when it comes to predicting our own future, especially in the case of those
around us that may be pursuing similar goals, majors, or careers. In the case of predicting my
own future in particular, I d have to rely mainly of the adults around me in my life, as well as
various older acquaintances that have shared stories of their similar interests and what those
developed into. Ultimately, from this perspective I can assume in my later years I d find much of
my happiness through writing and reading, specifically in topics or areas that are more reflective
of my later interests. What s important to note here is that while numerous adults and figures in
my life do enjoy and share these hobbies and find much of their happiness in them, it s also worth
acknowledging that many of their interests, jobs, and ultimately people who they surround
themselves with is consistent, in my case that s still very much subject to change. This is a very
noteworthy point to raise, being that while there are some aspects that can be predicted such as

2.3 Norming
I don t think we ever completely got beyond the storming stage, and although we tried to be
polite at first, the earlier tensions remained and escalated. I m not sure that any group norms
emerged; I felt very little sense of group identity, and believe most of us worked as individuals.
When emotions ran very high, comments became nasty, opinions were dismissed and I felt we
had to break. On a number of occasions I wanted to run away, and did both psychically and
emotionally. Two (strongs) of the group were angered by this but if I had not been able to vent my
frustrations this way, I think I would have engaged in hostile verbal (and perhaps ultimately
physical) attacks, initiated by one of them, and would have ended up more hurt and regretful. The
other three thought it was acceptable behaviour, a legitimate way for me to overcome my stress
and need for physical activity. These are the three who thought my energy and encouragement was
beneficial to the group, which I was very happy about. We just

Examples Of During Childhood Ignorance Is Bliss
During childhood, ignorance is bliss
What is it about a child that makes truth a fluid, flexible thing?
When I was a kid, I was lied to. A lot. I believed anything, I was impressionable and, honestly
speaking, my mind resembled Play Doh easily molded by whoever got their hands on it. Was I
weak in character? Was I an introvert passively living a life of deceit? Maybe but that s irrelevant.
I did this, you did this, and I m sure that random person you saw cycling next to your car this
morning, did this. We ate it up. Teachers, parents, the seventh graders who conquered the rear of the
bus these were all sources of authority that we never intended to question.
Why yes, there were monsters in our closets. Christopher Columbus was an adventuresome,
completely wholesome man who had the courage to discover a new world. And Santa Claus, he was
a jolly old man with a white beard filled with secrets and magic.
I once asked my grade 1 teacher why she would tell us lies particularly about colonialism. Until I
hit puberty, I was taught no, I earnestly believed that Columbus was a hero, a role model. He
might have worn quaint pants that ballooned like a skirt, but the bottom line is, he crossed an
ocean with a mere three ships and opened the door to the other half of the world.

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Film Coatings
Banerjee et al. [18] observed that the sprayed liquid droplet tends to flatten out into a disk on
impact with substrate surface and the geometry of the disk depends mainly on the momentum and
volume of the droplet and also on the substrate temperature.
The thin film formation is a resultant of the following processes:
i) spreading of the sprayed droplets on the surface of the hot substrate into disks ii) pyrolytic
reaction between the decomposed reactants iii) evaporation of the solvent iv) repetition of the
proceeding processes with succeeding droplets.
The process parameters such as concentration of the precursor solution, type of solvent, doping
material, spray nozzle geometry, flow rate of carrier gas and solution, velocities of sprayed droplets,
nature and temperature of the substrate, kinetics and thermodynamics of the pyrolytic reaction
mainly determine the properties of the spray deposited films.
3.4.2. Advantages of spray pyrolysis technique over other techniques Spray pyrolysis is one of the
simple and cost effective techniques suitable for commercial and mass production of thin film

Beginning at the turn of the century, school safety and security has been an issue on many

makes the whole process of auditing less daunting as it used to be. Other benefits of following the
risk based approach of auditing are better understanding of business and its environment, Increased

Disadvantages of risk based audit approach (150 Words) risk based audit methodology is
inextricably linked to the risk management framework. During Stage 1 it allows a conclusion on the
risk maturity of the organisation. If this is not high, it provides internal audit with an opportunity to
report that fact promptly to management and the audit committee so that they can take immediate
action. While this allows the internal audit activity to provide value to its organisation, RBIA is a
challenging prospect. Organisations with a poor level of risk maturity may be that way because the
managers and directors do not accept that a good risk management framework is an essential
element of a sound system of internal control. Internal audit may need to undertake a longer term

An oft heard phrase in education has become both a directive and a duty for educators: We must

matching instructional methods to their levels and preferences. In this era of rapid technological
innovation and change, many students have embraced the use of Social Networking Sites (SNS)
such as Facebook and spend much of their time in its virtual spaces. Despite its popularity with

211). While many SNSs are in the early stages of development, the adoption of the concept has
been rapid. The study proposed here focuses specifically on the adoption of SNSs by students and
faculty in higher education.
Though SNSs have attained remarkable popularity, Facebook has become the most popular,
particularly among people of ages 17 to 25 (Melber, 2008). Recent studies indicate that the number
of older users is increasing rapidly (Kirkpatrick, 2009), but currently more than 90% of college
students have a Facebook account (Haywoode, 2010; Loveland, 2011). Thus, the substantial
number of college students using this technology has compelled many educators to wonder if there
are potential benefits for the use of Facebook to support education.
According to Santovex (2006), colleges and universities can use Facebook to engage students
academically and build relationships with faculty (p. 5). As retention has become a focal point for
many universities, several studies have suggested methods for universities to manage retention
more effectively. John N. Gardner, founder and senior fellow of the National Resource Center for

extensive colonial history . The various governments in Myanmar s independence thus far, often
run on empty promises and heavy artillery, have done little good for the country. The military
forces in Myanmar have grown tremendously to the detriment of both prodemocracy leaders as
well as the country s population as a whole . Any attempted uprising in the country is quickly met
with brute force as seen in the recent failed Saffron Revolution . The focus of the government on
the growth of military power to the neglect of social and economic prosperity has... Show more

Trend continued well into the Anglo Burmese war of 1824. Burma lost and as a result had to cede
of its land to British India. By 1885, the entirety of Burma was a province of British India until
1937 when it became a crown colony of Britain . It wasn t until Japan invaded Burma in the 1940s
that the Burmese were able to successfully resist foreign rule. Even in its Colonial period there was
a lack of widespread internal stability, this would create the trend that would theoretically justify the
harsh choices of the current government . Additionally the relative closeness of the shifts in
government that occurred during the colonial period could also explain why the Burmese
government has difficulty dealing with transition.
Burma officially gained its independence from Britain in 1948 by negotiations lead by nationalist
leader Aung San . After the success of these negotiations San was plagued with the daunting task of
unifying the various ethnic factions under one union. However before he could take any actions
towards achieving this task, he was assassinated. Once again hope was lost with the deaths of San
and other nationalist leaders, inter ethnic group conflicts ensued. The makeshift government that

The Purpose Of An OSI Model
What is the purpose of an OSI model? The purpose of an OSI model is a standard that was created
for networks to share information. This standard governs the way information is transmitted over
different networks. The model also sets guidelines to those in the manufacturing industry that create
and develop software and hardware that are all compatible with each other.
This paper will discuss and describe the 7 layers of the Open System Interconnection model (OSI
model) and the layers of the Transport Control Protocol/Internet Protocol model (TCP/IP model),
and explain the similarities and differences of each model.
The 7 layers of the OSI model consist of: The Application layer (layer 7), The Presentation layer
(layer 6), The Session ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Transport layer
Transport layers exist in both TCP/IP and OSI model. Even though both models have Transport
layers they differ. The TCP/IP model consist of two standard transport protocols: Transmission
Control Protocol (TCP) and User Datagram Protocol (UDP). TCP uses a reliable data stream
protocol which is connected oriented and UDP uses a unreliable data stream protocol which is
connectionless oriented.
The Internet layer
The Internet layer is a group of protocols and specifications that are used to transport packets from
the host across a network, the host specified by a network address (IP address)
The Link layer
The lower level layer of the TCP/IP model, this layer is used by a suite of protocols for the Internet
. This is used to connect hosts or nodes to a network. This layer is compared to the Data Link
layer and Physical layer of the OSI model.
TCP/IP Application Layer VS OSI Application, Presentation and Session layer.
The similarities in both models are comparable but different at the same time. All though they
exist in both, the approach each uses to construct applications is different. In the OSI model the
Application layer, Presentation layer and Session layer correspond to the Application layer of the
TCP/IP model. They somewhat do the same job but use different protocols, TCP/IP uses: FTP,
SMTP, TELNET, DNS and SNMP where the OSI model uses: FTAM, VT, MHS,

What Are The Benefits Of Factory Farming
Factory Farming Has to Go Twenty decades ago, livestock farmers used to breed their animals in
the traditional way where their farm animals were let loose over a large area of farm and allowed
to reproduce naturally. Over recent years, a new system of rearing livestock has come into
existence which is more popularly known as Factory Farming. Factory Farming makes use of
extremely intensive procedures through the use of which poultry, cattle and other livestockare kept
indoors under rigid controlled settings. Since this technique has gained much popularity into how
foodis being produced in America, it is also one of the most debated and controversial concepts.
While it is true that using this modern method to produce meatand dairy one can expect greater
productivity at a swifter rate, the question still remains at what cost? Food manufacturers in
America claim that Factory Farming is a much cheaper way of processing meat and other food
items where they are able to increase their margins as well as provide the consumers with cheaper
food. However, current research on the effects of factory farming suggests that the method is one of
the best examples of animal cruelty (Park). The conditions that the animals... Show more content on

One of the primary cons of factory farming is that the breeding of cattle in unnatural, unsanitary
and artificial settings along with the injection of additives and antibiotics, greatly lessens the
quality of the food produced. The antibiotics can even harm the human body as the body learns to
produces antibiotic resistant cells (Miller). Harm to human health has time and time again been
stressed as an effect of factory farming. The cattle and poultry can breed diseases staying in a small
and filthy space which has a high chance of being passed on and contaminating

Buffett s Bid for Media General s Newspapers
Situation:
Media General is a mature company which has a lot of business including newspapers, television
broadcasting and digital businesses primarily serving the southeastern U.S. (Over 18 TV stations

newspaper industry is dropping. With the decreasing market, the profitability of newspaper industry
is declining. Newspaper revenues came from two sources: advertising and circulation representing

From DCF model, we calculated the value of company, it is about $130.01 million.
Then, we need to forecast the value of the offer.
Berkshire s offer consisted of two inseparable parts, an asset agreement and a credit agreement.
Total value of the offer is $142 million.
Solution Decision
Strategy 1: Accept the Berkshire s offer.
From the part 2 calculated, we can see that the value of company is about $130.01 million, and
Berkshire s offer is about $142 million higher than the value of company. The offer s Credit
Agreement can cover the current debts of company, and its Asset Purchase part also provide $142
million cash which can make the company has a better operation and reduce the managers pressure.
So the managers of Media General can accept this offer.
Strategy 2: Looking for other investor and restructure the company s business.
In this strategy, Media General s managers need to find other

Why I Am A Teacher Essay
Dream Big I clearly remember the day my mother brought home a small wooden desk for me. I
cherish that desk so much because not only did I use it to do my homework, but I also used to play
school . Even though I was very young, I knew I wanted to be a teacher. So the years went by and I
was now a senior in high schooland so close to achieving my goal of being a teacher. I knew
attending collegewould be difficult, my parents, older sister, and I had no clue where to begin, or
if it was even possible for me to attend. My parents saw my desire to go, but their inability to
speak English and not knowing the process to take when entering college did not allow them to
be much help. So I started researching and visiting my counselor. My counselor offered me
information and guided me through each step of the way. I come from an enormous family, I
have a total of 15 aunts and uncles and they have multiple children, and I am proud to say that I
was the first one in my entire family to attend college. I would commute daily and had a part time
job to help my parents pay my way to college, so it was very difficult and tiring. The reason I
commuted was because as a Latino I am very family oriented, so I want to be close to my family
and save. I also had a job, with my job I would help my parents pay for my books, gas, and my
car payment. Even though semester after semester I was always at risk of not returning because of
the cost of tuition, I was able to finish in exactly four

  • 2. Essay about Product Life Cycle Analysis For The Apple Ipod The alarm clock rings and its time to go for a jog and get the morning routine off to a good start. After my morning jog I take a shower while listening to my favorite high energy time to wake up music. The weather channel says it is going to be a rainy morning, so I grab my umbrella and head for the door. During the car ride I toggle between the news and my French audio lessons. All of these events are done through the use of a little device that seems to be everywhere you look. For the past years we have seen how APPLE Computers Inc. has not only introduced the Ipodinto the market for music players, but created the new must have pop icon. All of which create similar players that incorporate design and functionality. Although some of these are household names none has been able to dethrone the iPod from being the icon for digital jukeboxes. The first casualty that fell to the iPod was the iRiver Rio that could not compete with the loyalty people have for Apple. Part of the iPod secret is the iTunes software. This is a platform where you can download music into your iPod and organize the files. It offers a library of over three million songs from very diverse genres of music. Others have tried to mimic this concept but have not been able to create the following that iPod has. An example of these failed ventures is the Sone Connect store which is attempting to offer Sony s MiniDisc player as an alternative to Apple s iPod. Even Wal Mart, Amazon.com and Tower Records are also seeking a piece of the action by selling individual songs for a cheaper price than iTunes by adding these retailers the market is growing and becoming more and more competitive. It can be a safe assumption that Apple s iTunes internet downloadable music will partly replace the traditional channels through which music had been distributed in the past. It is evident that since its emergence into the market this little monster has gobbled up the market share of digital music gadgets. Apple has been able to directly penetrate the market and enable a quick adoption for the iPod. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. Mexican American And Mexican Americans Essay Introduction One of the largest Hispanic origin population in the United states are Mexicans (Gonzales Barrera Lopez, 2013). Mexican American s are considered minorities in the United States. There are many reason why I am choosing to explore Mexican Americans for this paper. As a minority myself, I can relate to some of the struggles that Mexican American s may face. However, there are some things that I will never relate to or know the personal aspect of the Mexican culture. Just like any other population, Mexican Americans have their own culture, values, and challenges. Strengths Mexican Americans find their strength through their culture, family, relationships and networks. Mexican Americans have strengths with their extended family. Mexican American families frequently function within extended family networks that include godparents and members of other families (Miley, M., L., 2013). There is more advantage when you have more network with extended family and other families. It essentially means a larger support system. One of the major strengths of Mexican American families is a quantitative rather than a qualitative difference from other ethnic groups (Miley, M., L., 2013). Some people may not realize that Mexican Americans tend to stick together and support each other because it is a part of their cultural background. Just like religion is a part of Mexican American s cultural background as well. Most of the time Mexican American s share similar spiritual ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. A Narrative Of The Captivity Analysis Though taken prisoner, the captured have mixed emotions towards their masters. The captives become more comfortable in their environment, they begin eating their food and enjoying their culture. The captives forget their situations when their captors show even a little compassion, they begin to praise them when in reality the captors have only given them skewed freedoms. Yet, the captives begin to want to be a part of their community and begin to hate themselves for those thoughts. The narrator of Captivity strikes the earth uselessly in her dream where she yearns to be a part of a Native American ritual, because she knows she never can truly take part. Though the captee s vision can be blurred by their closeness to the situation, the readers can see that the captors treat the captured with no human understanding by taking away their families. Ultimately, captors are portrayed negatively, even if their captives begin to want to be like them by eating their foods and yearning to be a part of their traditions. In Mary Rowlandson s. A Narrative of the Captivity, Rowlandson becomes more comfortable with her captors and their culture, by feeling comfortable with the people, though she is still in captivity and has limited freedoms. The captive becomes comfortable enough with her surroundings to ask one of the Native Americans to pay her for her services. She has lost some of the fear she once had. She goes into wigwams without fear of being hurt by the unknown tribe members. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In contrast a river can become stale and toxic, silently killing those who drink at its shore.1 Ron Kaufman Tyco International was nearly ruined because of the unethical corporate culture Kozlowski was implementing. According to a study on leadership and organizational culture by T. Gilberson et al., the values within the organization can be linked to the personality characteristics of the CEO. It is upper management that is believed to be the primary influence on the creation and development of organizational culture.2 Kozlowski put policies in place to misappropriate the funds of the company, these policies directly violated company culture. The other directors began to follow these policies even thought they knew it went against company policy. Why? According to social cognitive theory, individuals are proactively involved in their own development; What people think, believe, and feel affects how they behave . 4 If we believe this statement to be true than why were the subordinates at Tyco influenced by the leaders to engage in unethical corporate culture. • 15. Being Bullied And Having No Recollection Essay The Third Grade: Being bullied and having no recollection Introduction There comes a point in life when most young students are bullied. Some students experience worse bullying than others and suffer more greatly from it. According to US studies, One out of every four students (22%) report being bullied during the school year. (National Center for Educational Statistics, 2015) 64 percent of children who were bullied did not report it; only 36 percent reported the bullying. (Pacer s, 2016) Most children do not report it, leading to their self esteem dropping to an all time low. Whether the child turns to God or has a friend as their saving grace, it is important that they get through those troubles. My Experience The time in my life when I was bullied was a very rough patch and unfortunately a time that I have no memory of. My brain has seemed to block out these events from my mind as I have no recollection of the third grade. I was bullied at a very young age due to my shyness. The second reason I was bullied was due to the fact I was one of the youngest students in the class and also extremely tiny for my age. I fit in better playing with the boys because they were more friendly and just as smart as me, and I was much more girly than the other 8 girls in my class. By the time I was in first grade my only two friends had moved to other schools. Because of this I was left very secluded. However, this changed with the settlement of Jamestown, and later with the settlement of Massachusetts Bay. Despite these settlements having similarities, they were fundamentally different in most respects. From the areas where they settled, the reasoning behind each settlement, their development, and the various problems and conflicts that arose in each. A uniqueness can be seen between Virginiaand MassachusettsBay settlements beginning with the history of each. The history of these two settlements begins in the early 17th century when King James I issued a charter between two rival groups of merchants, the London Company (later renamed the Virginia Company) whose interests were in colonizing Virginia, and the Plymouth Company who had interests further north (Brinkley, 23). The charter gave the London Company exclusive rights to colonize the south, and the Plymouth Company received the same rights for the north (Brinkley, 23 24). It is through the efforts of these companies that the first permanent English colonies would be established (Brinkley, 24). Once the charter had been issued the London Company quickly began to set up an expedition for the colonization of Virginia, and on December 6, 1606, 144 men aboard three ships: the Godspeed, the Discovery, and the Susan Constant set sail for the New World (Brinkley, 26). Urban Development And Reconstruction Of Cities Contemporary cities face a dilemma in the modern world today; either they evolve in order to adapt to the challenges which globalization bring about, or simply refuse to change and stagnate. • 20. A Scientist, By Aldous Huxley When thinking of a scientist, the visual that often comes to mind would be that of a curious, patient individual slaving away in a sterile environment. Scientists are often viewed by society as quite droll, but in reality, they must be incredibly creative and intuitive in order to make scientific discoveries. Children around the world often dream of making remarkable scientific discoveries, although for some, unfortunate circumstances prevent them from working in scientific laboratories. Whether it be due to a major illness or a physical defect, many inspired adolescents are kept from their true passion, due to the demands of the field. These individuals are often forced into much less favorable professions, but still retain the analytical mind of a prospective scientist. However, those lucky few who are allowed to express their scientific interests through their alternate occupations, typically novelists, often portray idealistic societies which have been driven forward by scientific advances. One such disgruntled novelist, Aldous Huxley, allows his creativity to flourish through his work, spouting a myriad of technological advancements which have allowed society to become utopian. In Brave New World, author Aldous Huxley presents the reader with a fanciful tale of scientific conquest and social upheaval, which ultimately degrades his reputation as a credible scientist. [18] observed that the sprayed liquid droplet tends to flatten out into a disk on impact with substrate surface and the geometry of the disk depends mainly on the momentum and volume of the droplet and also on the substrate temperature. This paper will discuss and describe the 7 layers of the Open System Interconnection model (OSI model) and the layers of the Transport Control Protocol/Internet Protocol model (TCP/IP model), and explain the similarities and differences of each model. The 7 layers of the OSI model consist of: The Application layer (layer 7), The Presentation layer (layer 6), The Session ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The TCP/IP model consist of two standard transport protocols: Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) and User Datagram Protocol (UDP). TCP uses a reliable data stream protocol which is connected oriented and UDP uses a unreliable data stream protocol which is connectionless oriented. The Internet layer The Internet layer is a group of protocols and specifications that are used to transport packets from the host across a network, the host specified by a network address (IP address) The Link layer The lower level layer of the TCP/IP model, this layer is used by a suite of protocols for the Internet . This is used to connect hosts or nodes to a network. This layer is compared to the Data Link layer and Physical layer of the OSI model. TCP/IP Application Layer VS OSI Application, Presentation and Session layer. The similarities in both models are comparable but different at the same time. All though they exist in both, the approach each uses to construct applications is different. In the OSI model the Application layer, Presentation layer and Session layer correspond to the Application layer of the TCP/IP model. They somewhat do the same job but use different protocols, TCP/IP uses: FTP, SMTP, TELNET, DNS and SNMP where the OSI model uses: FTAM, VT, MHS, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 47. Why I Am A Teacher Essay Dream Big I clearly remember the day my mother brought home a small wooden desk for me. I cherish that desk so much because not only did I use it to do my homework, but I also used to play school . Even though I was very young, I knew I wanted to be a teacher. So the years went by and I was now a senior in high schooland so close to achieving my goal of being a teacher. I knew attending collegewould be difficult, my parents, older sister, and I had no clue where to begin, or if it was even possible for me to attend. My parents saw my desire to go, but their inability to speak English and not knowing the process to take when entering college did not allow them to be much help. So I started researching and visiting my counselor. My counselor offered me information and guided me through each step of the way. I come from an enormous family, I have a total of 15 aunts and uncles and they have multiple children, and I am proud to say that I was the first one in my entire family to attend college. I would commute daily and had a part time job to help my parents pay my way to college, so it was very difficult and tiring. The reason I commuted was because as a Latino I am very family oriented, so I want to be close to my family and save. I also had a job, with my job I would help my parents pay for my books, gas, and my car payment. Even though semester after semester I was always at risk of not returning because of the cost of tuition, I was able to finish in exactly four ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
