How To Create A Mash-Up In The Wizard Of Oz And The...
We ve created a mash up of The Wizard of Oz and The Princess Bride. The Wicked Witch of the West,
played by Lindy Arsenault, wakes up from a nap to discover that Dorothy, played by Gabrielle
Hopping Merlino, has stolen her ruby slippers. The film follows the Witch in her attempt to track
down the shoes. Dorothy leads her on a wild goose chase around campus until she eventually finds
Dorothy who challenges the Witch to a battle of the wits. Our goal was to create a comedic homage to
two of our favorite movies. We were limited in terms of location due to a snowstorm that decided to
roll in the weekend we had planned for filming. We then picked locations around campus that had
minimal background noise. Because of the location and our film budget,

Queen Victoria Era
The start date of the era is officially 1837, the year when Queen Victoria, after whom this era is
named, became queen. Historians describe the era as prudish, hypocritical, stuffy and narrow minded .
The society valued behaving appropriately to the conventions and values of their time. For instance,
the ideal image of the Englishmen was idolized, which was meant to help civilizing or modernising
native population in the middle east and Asian countries Britain had conquered and were building
colonials in. Through that, the English language was spread widely throughout the continents.
Meanwhile, the middle class was increasing in number and also power, and began to lead Britain s
core industries like mining of coal or exporting raw

Written Summary
Question: Explaining the role of suppliers in an organization s microenvironment. Discuss the impact
the supplier environment might have on the marketing of soft drinks.
Definition of suppliers: Firms and individuals that provide the resources needed by the company to
produce its goods and services (lecture 3, p10). This includes materials and parts, capital items,
supplies and service. (Diagram 1.4)
The Role of suppliers
Suppliers play a vital role in an organization s microenvironment. The relationship between suppliers
and organizations are built on a solid foundation of value. (Diagram 1.3) The growth and the vision of

Impact of supplier environment on the marketing of soft drinks
Soft drink company researched coca cola, PepsiCo, Quakers, Frito Lay and Tropicana.
The use of societal marketing philosophy
In the five soft drinks company researched, all of them were involved in helping Minority owned
business and Woman/Women Owned Business by making them their secondary suppliers to show that
they are concerned about the need and the want of the society as a whole. Their diversity of suppliers
made them welcomed in all cultures and different country as well as creates an environment for the
organization that attracts better public reputation and favorable publicity.
Impact of supplier environment on the marketing of soft drinks
According to the marketing philosophy, the organization always has to try to satisfy the needs and the
wants of its customer. But without the contribution of suppliers to improve and supply what s required
by the organization to provide its good and services, it would be certain that the organization will not
be able to satisfy the needs and wants of costumers.
A good supplier environment can help the business to perform better and achieve more. There are few
factors that need to be considered for a good supplier environment. In a soft drinks company, the
company need to make sure that product, pricing and costumer service of supplier are high in
standard. These factors

Personal Narrative-Padre Island
I jumped on my bed at 12 in the morning. I can t wait for tomorrow! It s going to be a tremendous day.
My family; Dad, Mom, little brother Andrew and I, are going to South Padre Island early in the
morning! I couldn t stop thinking about it. What am I going to be able to do there? How will the hotel
look like? Pause. The list can go on and on, but first, I need some sleep. It s going to be a great time
with my family.
Ring! Ring! My alarm rang at 5:15 am. I enthusiastically ran downstairs trying to let my legs get
moving. The first thing I see is loads of bags and luggage. Good morning, Ashley! Mom and Dad
cheered at me. I waved my hand and wondered about how they could be still efficacious with all the
packing. Andrew is on the couch napping with a sausage ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I quickly changed into comfortable clothes and woke my brother up (which probably took five
minutes) and ate breakfast. I hopped into our rental car, which was presumably small. Three layers of
soft, feathered blankets over me, and probably holding onto five different head pillows. I can t believe
we get to go to South Padre Island for three days! I yelled to my family. It takes about eight hours to
arrive at our hotel, so I definitely got carsick. The good news was that we got to eat fast food! Andrew
and I got to sleep a lot while the parents got to drive. We arrived after 7 pm to our hotel. Then, we
grabbed our heavy, bulky, luggage and brought them to our room to the 2nd floor. After we unpacked,
we were exhausted and all but we still had the stamina to go down to the beach and take a view on the
glazing ocean water. It looked very delicate like a clear foil was laid on top of the water. I doused my
feet in the cool, numb water. While digging my hands deep in the soft, cushy, sand, I could feel all the

Taking A Stand In National History
This year the National History Day topic theme is Taking a Stand . When I think about a significant
time in history where people made a stand for a cause against seemingly insurmountable odds, I think
of the Battle of Lexington and Concord. American colonists, often known as the Patriots, stood up
against British troops, preventing them from seizing their weapons and ammunition and capturing the
leaders of the rebellion. It was this stand that began the American Revolution. The Patriot s stand
against the British ultimately lead to the creation of the United States of America and massively
shaped modern history. But what if the colonists never took a stand? What would have happened and
how would modern history look today? If the Patriots never made their stand, the American
Revolution may not have happened. What is now the United States of America would have likely
remained British, which would have created very different modern history.
In 1775 there was much friction between the American colonist and the British Crown. Britain was
becoming increasingly jealous of the American prosperity and feared the growth of the colonies.
Britain began to increase taxes and regulations on the colonists, which they resented. This lead to
several confrontations including the Boston Massacre and the Tea Party. The British believed that they
needed to take decisive action to put a stop to these confrontations and assert the Crown s authority.
One line of thought was to remove the

The spectacle makes him highly philosophic: Not able to live it s not possible even to die . Friends no

from age and experience, and now wants to advise and guide the generations to follow. It has been
very pertinently said: the price of wisdom is above rubies (Old Testament, Job, xxviii, 18), and

The doctrine was developed predominantly in response to the most unforgettable day in the American

1 A diagram explaining how the internet works and description of the world wide web
The World Wide Web is a system of internet servers that contain documents formatted in HTML. This
supports links to other documents and also supports graphics, audio and video.
2 Internet Service Providers (ISP);
An internet service provider (ISP) is a service that provides access to the internet. They provide the
user with services such as broadband and phone services. For a monthly price the user is provided
with a router which they can then connect to either with a wired or wireless connection. An internet
connection enables the user to connect many devices to the internet at the same time. The router and
phone are normally plugged in to the same socket which then connects the router to the internet.
Internet service providers may also provide the user with an e mail address as a part of the service.
Different providers offer different packages for different prices, for example some may have a capped
usage which may be better for people who do not use the internet as much and would be able to save
money by purchasing this. Different companies compete to gain more customers and will claim to
have a higher upload and download rate than other companies. Also, usually a package with a higher
upload and download speed will be more expensive.

Anemia Decreases the Number of Red Blood Cells Essay
Anemia is a blood condition with decreasing number of red blood cells (RBC) or less than normal
levels of hemoglobin (an essential protein that carries oxygen to your tissues and organs) in the blood.
Anemia usually occurs when individual does not have enough red blood cells the cells that transport
hemoglobin (Hb) throughout your body. [4]
Iron deficiency anemia is a common form of anemia that occurs if person does not have sufficient iron
in body. Without enough iron your body starts using the iron it has stored. Soon, the stored iron gets
used. After the stored iron is used, your body makes fewer red blood cells. The red blood cells it does
make have less hemoglobin than normal. [4]
Iron deficiency anemia can cause fatigue, chest pain, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Anemia is a common comorbidity in HF is associated with increased disease severity and also
contributes to a worse outcome. The mechanism through which anemia contributes to negative
outcome in chronic HF patients is multifactorial and complex. Important factors include, bone marrow
resistance to erythropoietin, renal failure, chronic inflammation, medication use and hematinic
deficiencies, in particular iron deficiency (ID). Generally, the presence of ID is only considered
clinically relevant in the presence of anemia. However, a decreased hemoglobin levels can be viewed
as the end result of a process beginning with gradual depletion of iron stores. Even if patients are not
anemic, ID already may be common in chronic HF, with or without anemia, is associated with
decreased aerobic performance and exercise intolerance, recently also shown in chronic HF. [5]
Anemia is an independent factor in mortality in people with chronic heart failure. Anemia, or a low
level of hemoglobin in the blood, is much linked to heart disease because the heart has to work harder
to pump more blood and oxygen through the body [4]. Iron deficiency in heart failure can be due to a
number of factors, it may be caused by a lack of nutrients in a person s diet or by the body s inability
to absorb nutrients from food. Heart failure can also cause a back up of fluid (edema). This edema
produces a higher volume of blood plasma (the liquid part of blood), which can dilute red

Analysis Of The Ruined Maid And One Perfect Rose
Women have been the victim of unfair stereotypes and placed at different standards than men since the
beginning of time. The Ruined Maid by Thomas Hardy and One Perfect Rose by Dorothy Parker take
an in depth look at how women are viewed by the opposite gender. Although they take a different
approach and have contrasting poetry styles, the theme that is portrayed is prominent for both. Hardy s
poem portrays a woman living in the Victorian Era where the norm was to be married and faithful.
The character Melia lives in an individualistic way and is not only unmarried, but has participated in
sexual activities before marriage. With this liveliness comes riches and prosperity, but also social
backlash. One Perfect Rose tells the story of a woman who receives a rose as a gift from her love
interest. The unnamed persona is displeased with this rose because it is typical and thoughtless. The
classic gift that men give to women is a rose, which is looked at as a romantic gesture. This poem s
purpose is to show the audience that not every girl s dream gift is a perfect rose. The Ruined Maid by
Thomas Hardy and One Perfect Rose by Dorothy Parker explore how two women break away from
typical stereotypes and long for a more unconventional way of life.
Throughout the course of both of the works of poetry, symbolism is repeatedly presented. When
Parker reads the line One Perfect Rose she is symbolizing how this is a stereotypical gift that women
receive and it holds little meaning

The Emotional Brain Overpowering The Thinking Brain
In the psychopathologies mentioned above, one thing is common the emotional brain overpowering
the thinking brain. Therefore, in dealing with these psychopathologies, the main goal is to somehow
wake the thinking brain up so that it could fire the needed neurons to finally control the emotional
brain. It can be as simple as trying to talk some sense into the person. This is because when a person is
listening, it is the neocortex that is being used and will therefore fire up more neurons. Just like the

Human Relations Theory and People Management
The minutiae of the human soul ... emerged as a new domain for management Nikolas Rose
Conventional textbooks often set up a simple story about organization theory which has a very
appealing structure. In this story, there is a good guy and a bad guy. Who gets to play which role
sometimes shifts, but most often the bad guy is the scientific management approach and the good guy
is human relations theory. This is a flawed story in my view, and the way I will tell the story
emphasizes the many connections and similarities between the two. But I suppose the fact that I am
referring to the two implies that there must be some points of ... Show more content on

It was this which caused the increase in productivity and which demonstrated that the workers could
not be regarded as mere parts in the organizational machine. Thus was born the notion of the
Hawthorne Effect , a staple part not just of organization theory but of social science as a whole. The
other study I want to mention was that conducted in the bank wiring room. Here, a small group of
male workers were engaged in producing electrical components. It emerged that the group set
informal norms around production levels so that, rather than produce their maximum output (which
would earn them a bonus) the workers performed sub optimally. These norms were enforced by a
mixture of peer pressure (including physical sanction) and an unofficial gang leader . This suggested
that workers were not solely motivated by economic

The Metaphysic Of Abstract Particulars
Introduction: In this paper I will present the arguments for tropes and their distinction from universals
and particulars as presented by Keith Campbell in his paper The Metaphysic of Abstract Particulars. I
will then present a counter argument to Campbell s evaluation and provide possible responses to those
arguments. I will also provide possible adjustments Campbell could make to create a more sound
argument.
Campbell s Argument:
Since Plato, two mutually exclusive yet essential categories of reality have been posited, one of
concrete particulars and the other being abstract universals. Particulars are unproblematic, but
universals may be entirely extant in many positions with no influence on the universal itself. A
particular distinguishing mark is that is exhausted in the one embodiment, or occasion, or example.
(Campbell 298) Particulars are unproblematic because they are restricted to a single point at any given
time, not like universals which exist in different locations and are wholly present in those instances.
The number of examples which contain the abstract universals are not diminished in quality of the
universal. Campbell posits that this problem can be alleviated if properties were not universal at all.
There is a distinction between abstract and concrete which differs from the distinction between
universals and particulars. This is because particulars and universals can both be abstract where only
particulars can be concrete. The particulars that

If PolyMet s mine creates a disastrous pollution the people will have to clean it up. The tax payers in
the future will end up footing the bill for this project. In a town where there are barely any jobs for the
people this will send them into financial ruin. Also, the cleanup cost is extremely unpredictable and
any clean up contract or financial contract that is made with PolyMet is not going to cover this
cleanup cost because it is unpredictable. The people will have to pay the cleanup cost. If PolyMet
became unable to complete the project the state will not receive any money that they put into the
project. This will also guarantee money shortage. Some might say that this project will help the town
find it s footing in the long haul and therefore we should support it. They are wrong. This project is a
disaster waiting to happen because the true magnitude of it is unpredictable and it is impossible to
solve a problem that one did not see coming.

decades, PolyMet is backed by a questionable company, and any contamination to the environment by
the project will put the town and its people at a significant risk. Though it will create jobs the town s

The United States Immigration And Immigrants In The 19th...
The United States immigration and emigration is closely linked to the history of railroads in the 19th
century. The construction of the transcontinental railroads that facilitated western expansion
Immigrants were not only integral to part of the expansion, but they also used the railroad to migrate
west and to form new immigrant settlements and territories. In the early 19 century, United States
expanded westward, across the Mississippi
River and later to the Pacific Ocean. These western lands, either was purchased, won in battles, or
seized outright from Indian tribes and other nations. For many years migrants came in search of
wealth and better opportunities and very often clashed either with Mexicans or Indians who defended
their homeland and traditions. From the Louisiana Purchase of 1803 through the migration that
resulted from the Transcontinental Railroad and the Homestead Act, Americans engaged in what
Theodore Roosevelt termed the Great Leap Westward. (Historynet.com). The settlers were motivated
to expand to the west after Meriwether Lewis and William Clark led the expedition (1804 to 1806)
through the Louisiana purchase territory that was acquired from France in 1803. Their mission was
assigned by President Thomas Jefferson with the intention to assess the land s resources, make
diplomatic contact with the Indians, and search for the Northwest Passage, a route to the Pacific
Ocean.

Kmart Inc. and Builders Square Case
1. What happens if Kmart s managers decide NOT to accept the Leonard Green offer?
If Kmarts managers decide not to accept the offer they become limited in their options:
● They can continue to wait for a better bid, but they have struggled to get any one interested in their
company as it is. If they decide to turn down Green, but end up not securing another buyer, they would
be forced to return to Green who could offer a much lower bid because Kmart would now be left out
of options.
● It was also projected that Builders Square only had enough cash and working capital to continue its

nonprofitable Builders Square.
5. Leonard Green has put together some projections on the Builders Square/Hech combo. Assess those
projections in light of your industry analysis.
● According to exhibit 1 the Home Improvement market has been growing at a steady pace of about
3.5% for the past 5 years. A lot of this growth steams from the do it yourself consumer market which
is the primary target for the Builders Square and Hechinger Co. merger. Although Home Depot and
Lowe s dominate the bulk of the home improvement market, only 6% of Home Depot s sales come
from building materials and related products compared to the combined 3.4% for Builder s Square and
Hechinger Co. As seen in exhibit 10, the Combined Projections for Proposed Builders Square
Hechinger Merger, Green projects an increased gross profit margin as well as EBITDA assuming a 2%
growth rate for the combined firm. Their profits do struggle in the beginning due to an increasing
amount of revenues lost to competitors along with their high count of closing stores. After year 3 the

Modern Philosophy Of The Modern World And The External World
Lauren Estes
Modern Philosophy
Prof. Corsa As humans, I do not think we know as much as we think we know. Perhaps this is the
reason why in matters of Philosophical research some claim to have discovered the truth, while others
declare that finding it is an impossibility, and other are still seeking it (SE Handout 31). The word
truth in this quote is ambiguous. I believe that we will spend the rest of eternity seeking the truth. The
truth can mean many things to many different people. What is true for you may not be true for me.
Many of the modern philosophers dance around the question, What is real and what is not? Although
there are many arguments for and against the internal world and the external world, I tend to lead
towards the skeptics point of view. I do this on the simple notion that many of the skeptics arguments
are hard to refute. Much like Sextus Empiricus, I argue that we cannot know anything with absolute
certainty about the external world. Those who say that Sceptic deny appearances seem to me to be
ignorant of what we say (SE Handout 38). Sextus Empricus does not deny appearances, he just is
aware that we might not know for certain anything about the external world. Sextus Empiricus infers,
honey appears to use to have a sweetening quality. This much we can concede, because it affects us
with a sensation of sweetness. The question, however, is whether it is sweet in an absolute sense (SE

You ready to go back outside yet? I nagged Or are you going to keep complaining?
I ve been waiting on you. answered Frank. I gave him a little shove, then we gathered together our
snow gear, and got ready to journey to the outdoors. We walked out my front door and the cold wind
hit us right in the face and we sunk knee deep in the light airy and white snow. We went over to my
shed and needed both of us pulling at the door to get it open through the piles of snow. We finally got
in and in was like we were in a different world the snow was no longer pelting us in the face and no
more trudging through the snow. We got two sleds and went back on our way into the tundra of my

Barbie Girl Song Analysis
Survival Guide: Choral Reading, my process paper, relates to the song Barbie Girl by Aqua. This year
for choral reading, Ms. Osborne s choral reading performed Barbie s Girls. I chose this song because
my group sang this song while we performed. My group and I decided to write about choral reading
because this speech season was very special to us. We spent hours upon hours with Ms. Osborne
practicing in hopes of receiving an All State nomination. Although that did not happen, we all enjoyed
this season. We chose this particular title because we hoped our essay would act as a survival guide
full of tips for future speech students. We started off the writing process with brainstorming different
topics. We wanted to do something with speech,

Comparing Barbara Huttmann s Crime of Compassion and...
Reading Reponses: Barbara Huttmann s Crime of Compassion and Martin Gansberg s Thirty Eight
Who Saw Murder and Didn t Call Police Even people who have not read Martin Gansberg s article
about the murder of Kitty Genovese are probably familiar with its contents. On March 14, 1964, in
Kew Gardens in New York, a killer stalked Kitty Genovese and began a series of violent attacks
against her. These attacks lasted for an extended period of time and were witnessed by no less than
thirty eight individuals. Twice their chatter and the sudden glow of their bedroom lights interrupted
him and frightened him off. Each time he returned, sought her out, and stabbed her again. Not one
person telephoned the police during the assault; one witness called after the woman was dead
(Gansberg, 1964). It was a shocking event, which horrified people because they simply could not
understand how people could witness a murder and do nothing, not even call the police, to stop it. It
was all the more horrifying because the length of time it took the killer to murder Genovese suggests
that had even one of the witnesses picked up the telephone and called the police, her murder could
have been prevented. The scenario described by Barbara Huttmann also involved a person watching a
death without intervening, but the circumstances were very different. Huttmann was a nurse working
with a critically ill cancer patient named Mac. Mac was terminally ill with cancer, but his doctor had

Why I Use Sequence
Sequence: I use sequence first because, I like to take my time and do any assignments that my
instructor gives me. I don t like to rush through my work or have someone to tell me what to do, when
I am in the middle of my assignment. I like to get a clear understanding and also like to do things step
by step. When I am doing something for my teacher or just doing something for school I like to ask
am I meeting their expectations that they are excepting of me to do. I also like for people to show me
examples of what I should be doing, instead of just telling me the word from their mouth. I stay focus
mental and I like for my work to be accurate and correct and not half stepping. When I work alone I
can take my time and not rush. Sequence is used by asking directions, what is the instructor expected
me to do. When I get started on an assignment I do not like when the teacher change the direction on

The Terrorist Attack On The World Trade Center
The two terrorist attacks that I will examine are the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center that

The blast was strong enough to destroy the use of the World Trade Center back up power supply. The
ventilation system in the building was filled with smoke and filled each floor with smoke.
During the investigation law enforcement found pieces of the vehicle that was used to blow up The
World Trade Center and was able to track it back to the rental company that the men rented it from.
One of the men involved Mohammed Salameh returned to the vehicle rental location and asked for his
refund and then was arrested. The investigators were able to locate the suspect s apartments, storage
unit and the other suspects involved in the explosion. The men involved in the explosion were
arrested, brought back to the United States and sent to prison.
The Boston Marathon Bombing took place on April 15. 2013 close to the finish line of a marathon that
was taking place. The individual responsible for the terrorist attack were two brothers by the names of
Dzhokhar Tsarnaev and Tamerlan Tsarnaev. The two brothers created bombs from nails and other
items in a pressure cooker which they learned to make from an online website. The Tsarnaev brothers
placed the pressure cooker in backpacks. The two back packs with the pressure cookers were placed in

The Significance Of The Miracle Tradition
The miracle tradition is one of the most essential themes of the New Testament. It is an integral part of
the Gospels; most specifically its importance is noted in the books of
Matthew, Mark and Luke, which are together known as the synoptic gospels. Miracles or wondrous
deeds were important elements to Jesus teachings. There are many accounts of miraculous events
between these three texts, some omitted and some are added. Then Biblical
Historians and Scholars must ask themselves, which of these books, if any are historically accurate?
Authenticity and historicity can be determined through further analysis of these texts in addition to
secondary sources and other non Biblical sources such as Q. Furthermore comparing and contrasting
the synoptic gospels will also gauge the amount of historicity within these specific texts.
There are infinite factors to consider when deciding the historicity and authenticity of these texts. First
one must consider the similarities and differences between each of the synoptic gospels, where the
stories parallel and where do they diverge. In the same way such stories are interpreted differently by
different individuals. Therefore, can one person s interpretation determine whether it is historically
accurate or disprove it in the same way? Biblical Historian
Graham Twelfree outlines eight standards for an event or situation to be considered a miracle.
First a miracle must be an astonishing event. Secondly, it involves a religious

Poetry In Poe s The Raven By Edgar Allan Poe
Every time we hear the word poetry we immediately think of romance and beauty. However, having
read the poem The Raven by Edgar Allan Poe, we have concluded that even dark and gloomy poetry
has its own meaning. While going through its stanzas, the magnificent style and rhythm of Poe s
writing made me feel like I also was in the room with the narrator. The poem itself is an incredible
experience, filled with deep meanings and symbols that if you re not aware of them you can totally
misunderstand the plot. Poetry is an old style of writing which utilizes aesthetic and rhythmic qualities
of language to summon and describe feelings. The distinctive styles vary in how the writers
incorporate the rhythm and the musicality of its stanzas. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, Poe emphasizes the o sound in words such as Lenore and nevermore in order to
highlight the lonely melancholy sound of the poem and also to establish the overall atmosphere.
Additionally, the repetition of nevermore gives the poem a circular sense while also bringing forth a
larger meaning to the poem. Like in many other poems from Poe, The Raven refers to an agonized
protagonist with memories of a deceased woman. Lenore, the woman he speaks of in the poem, we
could assume she had a premature death which makes the narrator unable to free himself of the pain of
her memory. He often asks the raven if there is balm in Gilead and therefore spiritual salvation for the
woman. He also asks if she really exists in the afterlife, but the raven confirms his worst suspicions by
rejecting his supplications. Leaving all this behind, one the most interesting things about the poem is
the raven. Referencing what we learned in class, Poe thought of the raven as the bearer of ill news for
a number of reasons. Initially, Poe was looking for an animal that could mimic and produce human
like sounds without actually understanding the meaning of them. He first tried using a parrot, the bird
could easily repeat words that he could have heard before and it really didn t understand them at all.
However, for the dark propose of the poem, such a colorful bird wouldn t fit the profile. Then, he
thought of the raven, this one couldn t

Analysis Of The Bull Moose By Alden Nowlan
The evolution of modern medicine and technology are increasing the average lifespan causing an
increase in populations which increases the demand for resources. Particularly impacting animals by
destroying forests and food sources essential to survive causing animals to patrol areas once believed
to be wilderness. This situation occurs in The Bull Moose by Alden Nowlan, the moose after traveling
stumbles upon a farm, experiencing fatigue the moose rests. While resting, the townspeople gazed
upon him and interact with him like a domesticated animal. As the moose stands its ground, the officer
takes aim and fire his rifle. Also in Bear 71 directed by Jeremy Mendes and Leanne Allison, a bear

straightened and lifted his horns then he roared scaring the townspeople resulting in his death (Nowlan
66). Susan Marshall believes this was the moose s final stand, the moose believing these action
displayed by townspeople actions were to tame, ridicule or control it (77). The moose interpreted these
actions and begins to reassert itself displaying his strength (Marshall,77). The townspeople react to his
action and let fear conquer them, believing the animal is a threat and firing a rifle killing the moose
(Marshall,77). Also, David Fraser would argue that the townspeople would have no practical ethics
towards animals. Fraser explains in his philosophical article on how humans impact animals into four
sections. The townspeople broke section number three Causing direct but unintended harm to animals
(Fraser,1). Both actions performed by the townspeople led to the animal feeling in danger, forcing the
animal to stand its ground causing its unnecessary death. While she is scavenging for food with her

not able to go, because the studio was going to be busy and she had to be there for the day to run on
schedule. Running the studio comes with many complications. On a daily basis there are problems to
be solved. How Gidget handles these problems are very impressive. In the end the customer is always
pleased. When a customer is unhappy, for me it would very hard to figure out a way to please them
and not have a problem with the studio still running on schedule, but for my Mother it is no problem. I
think it is easy for my Mother to please a customer in a tough situation because she has always told

Africa has a huge problem with dictators not running the country so that it can operate at its fullest
potential. In her book Why 28 Stephanie Noland tries to make the population aware of the problem
stating, He dealt the country s vibrant economy a first harsh blow, making a massive payment to men
who claimed to be veterans of the fight for independence... of Zimbabwe s dictator Mugabe (Noland
299). This shows that as a ruler he was not concerned in using money to heal his country. His love of
power is tearing his country apart, causing his population to dwindle, and driving his economy into the
ground. Mugabe Sent troops to demolish houses on the slums were he believed people had voted
against him, writes Stephanie (Noland 300). This is essential because it shows the lengths he was
willing to go to to stay the head of the country. He was willing to further decimate his population, just
to make sure there was never a rebellion. All this oppression, abuse of power, and neglect can not go
on for long without the people rising up and fighting back. This is how civil wars are created. ... Show

The Evolution Of The Music Industry
History From the invention of first recording device in 1877 to cassettes to digital recording in 1987 to
MP3 in 1990 and to iTunes in 2003, the music industry has become an important global industry in
last 50 years. The evolution of the music industry has given a boom to the economic activity in many
geographical scales. Technological development has been playing an effective role for the evolution of
the music industries. Looking back at the success of these music businesses, it used to be all about fun,
dignity, entertainment and business. There were no issues regarding our social and cultural values nor
there were any piracy issues. But gradually with the evolution of the music industry, it has also
challenged our social and cultural boundaries. Current issues and legislation The product of the music
industry has also been an effective tool for communication. It holds the potential to convey an
emotion, tell a story or act as a medium for celebration. The impact of music can be felt in almost
every aspect of life, because we listen to it on our daily life. In like manner, music and the music
industry also play a significant role in communicating its social norms. These ideals have challenged

Rob Reiner does an excellent job importing Charachter, Diction, and Spectical in this magnificent

Jack Nicholson in this movie does a outstanding job being Col. Nathan Jessep in making the movie
goer not like him for many different reasons. Jack nicholson uses plenty of emotion throughout the
movie showing how powerful he thinks he is, at times how corrupt and cuel he can be. You can tell
from Nicholsons facial expressions throughout the play on what he is thinking and what he might

that he responds to the other officers is in a tone making it crystal clear that he is above them in rank,
but he alslo has a short teemper throughout the film you will se him use sarcasm or anger to show his
pig headedness. Rob Reiners film showes imense spectical throughout the movie. Using military
uniforms and filming this movie on an actual base at times, makes this movie an all together great

Labour Force In Canada
The term labour force consists of persons who contribute or are available to contribute to the
production of goods and services falling within the System of National Accounts production boundary
(Statistics Canada, 2017). According to Canada s first decennial census, the work force was meant to
include anyone stating an occupation. However, with increasing industrialization and urbanization,
census officials soon accepted the growing myth of one dimensional, cash based economy by further
defining occupation as the position in which the enumerated was gainfully employed, which the 1901
census identified as those paid salary or wages or other money allowances (MacDonald, 2010, p. 390).

numbers depict that white men hold the majority of jobs in which they are the highest salary earners
(Fearon Wald 2011, p. 330; MacDonald, 2010, p. 390). Thus, reading these statistics without being
critical of the structures they stand upon only proves that white men have made greater contributions
to the Canadian labour market, and thus perpetuating the power of data. Therefore, based on the
authors findings, it must be concluded that much like the power of data, statistical manipulation
essentially distorts the truth and exaggerates statistics way out of proportion to suit a certain agenda.
For instance, the way that the wage gap has been similarly evaluated upholds the conviction that
women and Black workers do not work as hard as white men do or are unproductive, and therefore
they are assumed to be either lazy or incompetent. For example, the total number of women religious
in Canada seems grossly under reported in every census year, and yet it is carried into published
research, thus skewing data, which results in a significant portion of women religious assumed to have
been unproductive

  • 2. How To Create A Mash-Up In The Wizard Of Oz And The... We ve created a mash up of The Wizard of Oz and The Princess Bride. The Wicked Witch of the West, played by Lindy Arsenault, wakes up from a nap to discover that Dorothy, played by Gabrielle Hopping Merlino, has stolen her ruby slippers. The film follows the Witch in her attempt to track down the shoes. Dorothy leads her on a wild goose chase around campus until she eventually finds Dorothy who challenges the Witch to a battle of the wits. Our goal was to create a comedic homage to two of our favorite movies. We were limited in terms of location due to a snowstorm that decided to roll in the weekend we had planned for filming. We then picked locations around campus that had minimal background noise. Because of the location and our film budget, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Historians describe the era as prudish, hypocritical, stuffy and narrow minded . The society valued behaving appropriately to the conventions and values of their time. For instance, the ideal image of the Englishmen was idolized, which was meant to help civilizing or modernising native population in the middle east and Asian countries Britain had conquered and were building colonials in. • 6. Personal Narrative-Padre Island I jumped on my bed at 12 in the morning. I can t wait for tomorrow! It s going to be a tremendous day. My family; Dad, Mom, little brother Andrew and I, are going to South Padre Island early in the morning! I couldn t stop thinking about it. What am I going to be able to do there? How will the hotel look like? Pause. The list can go on and on, but first, I need some sleep. It s going to be a great time with my family. Ring! Ring! My alarm rang at 5:15 am. I enthusiastically ran downstairs trying to let my legs get moving. The first thing I see is loads of bags and luggage. Good morning, Ashley! Mom and Dad cheered at me. I waved my hand and wondered about how they could be still efficacious with all the packing. Andrew is on the couch napping with a sausage ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I quickly changed into comfortable clothes and woke my brother up (which probably took five minutes) and ate breakfast. I hopped into our rental car, which was presumably small. Three layers of soft, feathered blankets over me, and probably holding onto five different head pillows. I can t believe we get to go to South Padre Island for three days! I yelled to my family. It takes about eight hours to arrive at our hotel, so I definitely got carsick. The good news was that we got to eat fast food! Andrew and I got to sleep a lot while the parents got to drive. We arrived after 7 pm to our hotel. Then, we grabbed our heavy, bulky, luggage and brought them to our room to the 2nd floor. After we unpacked, we were exhausted and all but we still had the stamina to go down to the beach and take a view on the glazing ocean water. It looked very delicate like a clear foil was laid on top of the water. I doused my feet in the cool, numb water. While digging my hands deep in the soft, cushy, sand, I could feel all the grains go ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Taking A Stand In National History This year the National History Day topic theme is Taking a Stand . When I think about a significant time in history where people made a stand for a cause against seemingly insurmountable odds, I think of the Battle of Lexington and Concord. American colonists, often known as the Patriots, stood up against British troops, preventing them from seizing their weapons and ammunition and capturing the leaders of the rebellion. It was this stand that began the American Revolution. The Patriot s stand against the British ultimately lead to the creation of the United States of America and massively shaped modern history. But what if the colonists never took a stand? What would have happened and how would modern history look today? If the Patriots never made their stand, the American Revolution may not have happened. What is now the United States of America would have likely remained British, which would have created very different modern history. In 1775 there was much friction between the American colonist and the British Crown. Britain was becoming increasingly jealous of the American prosperity and feared the growth of the colonies. Britain began to increase taxes and regulations on the colonists, which they resented. This lead to several confrontations including the Boston Massacre and the Tea Party. The British believed that they needed to take decisive action to put a stop to these confrontations and assert the Crown s authority. One line of thought was to remove the ... Anemia Decreases the Number of Red Blood Cells Essay Anemia is a blood condition with decreasing number of red blood cells (RBC) or less than normal levels of hemoglobin (an essential protein that carries oxygen to your tissues and organs) in the blood. Anemia usually occurs when individual does not have enough red blood cells the cells that transport hemoglobin (Hb) throughout your body. [4] Iron deficiency anemia is a common form of anemia that occurs if person does not have sufficient iron in body. Without enough iron your body starts using the iron it has stored. Important factors include, bone marrow resistance to erythropoietin, renal failure, chronic inflammation, medication use and hematinic deficiencies, in particular iron deficiency (ID). Generally, the presence of ID is only considered clinically relevant in the presence of anemia. However, a decreased hemoglobin levels can be viewed as the end result of a process beginning with gradual depletion of iron stores. Even if patients are not anemic, ID already may be common in chronic HF, with or without anemia, is associated with decreased aerobic performance and exercise intolerance, recently also shown in chronic HF. Anemia, or a low level of hemoglobin in the blood, is much linked to heart disease because the heart has to work harder to pump more blood and oxygen through the body [4]. Iron deficiency in heart failure can be due to a number of factors, it may be caused by a lack of nutrients in a person s diet or by the body s inability to absorb nutrients from food. • 14. Analysis Of The Ruined Maid And One Perfect Rose Women have been the victim of unfair stereotypes and placed at different standards than men since the beginning of time. The Ruined Maid by Thomas Hardy and One Perfect Rose by Dorothy Parker take an in depth look at how women are viewed by the opposite gender. Although they take a different approach and have contrasting poetry styles, the theme that is portrayed is prominent for both. Hardy s poem portrays a woman living in the Victorian Era where the norm was to be married and faithful. The character Melia lives in an individualistic way and is not only unmarried, but has participated in sexual activities before marriage. With this liveliness comes riches and prosperity, but also social backlash. One Perfect Rose tells the story of a woman who receives a rose as a gift from her love interest. The unnamed persona is displeased with this rose because it is typical and thoughtless. The classic gift that men give to women is a rose, which is looked at as a romantic gesture. This poem s purpose is to show the audience that not every girl s dream gift is a perfect rose. The Ruined Maid by Thomas Hardy and One Perfect Rose by Dorothy Parker explore how two women break away from typical stereotypes and long for a more unconventional way of life. Throughout the course of both of the works of poetry, symbolism is repeatedly presented. • 18. The Metaphysic Of Abstract Particulars Introduction: In this paper I will present the arguments for tropes and their distinction from universals and particulars as presented by Keith Campbell in his paper The Metaphysic of Abstract Particulars. I will then present a counter argument to Campbell s evaluation and provide possible responses to those arguments. I will also provide possible adjustments Campbell could make to create a more sound argument. Campbell s Argument: Since Plato, two mutually exclusive yet essential categories of reality have been posited, one of concrete particulars and the other being abstract universals. Particulars are unproblematic, but universals may be entirely extant in many positions with no influence on the universal itself. A particular distinguishing mark is that is exhausted in the one embodiment, or occasion, or example. (Campbell 298) Particulars are unproblematic because they are restricted to a single point at any given time, not like universals which exist in different locations and are wholly present in those instances. The number of examples which contain the abstract universals are not diminished in quality of the universal. Campbell posits that this problem can be alleviated if properties were not universal at all. There is a distinction between abstract and concrete which differs from the distinction between universals and particulars. This is because particulars and universals can both be abstract where only particulars can be concrete. The particulars that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The construction of the transcontinental railroads that facilitated western expansion Immigrants were not only integral to part of the expansion, but they also used the railroad to migrate west and to form new immigrant settlements and territories. In the early 19 century, United States expanded westward, across the Mississippi River and later to the Pacific Ocean. These western lands, either was purchased, won in battles, or seized outright from Indian tribes and other nations. For many years migrants came in search of wealth and better opportunities and very often clashed either with Mexicans or Indians who defended their homeland and traditions. From the Louisiana Purchase of 1803 through the migration that resulted from the Transcontinental Railroad and the Homestead Act, Americans engaged in what Theodore Roosevelt termed the Great Leap Westward. The settlers were motivated to expand to the west after Meriwether Lewis and William Clark led the expedition (1804 to 1806) through the Louisiana purchase territory that was acquired from France in 1803. The word truth in this quote is ambiguous. I believe that we will spend the rest of eternity seeking the truth. The truth can mean many things to many different people. What is true for you may not be true for me. Many of the modern philosophers dance around the question, What is real and what is not? Although there are many arguments for and against the internal world and the external world, I tend to lead towards the skeptics point of view. I do this on the simple notion that many of the skeptics arguments are hard to refute. Much like Sextus Empiricus, I argue that we cannot know anything with absolute certainty about the external world. Those who say that Sceptic deny appearances seem to me to be ignorant of what we say (SE Handout 38). On March 14, 1964, in Kew Gardens in New York, a killer stalked Kitty Genovese and began a series of violent attacks against her. These attacks lasted for an extended period of time and were witnessed by no less than thirty eight individuals. Twice their chatter and the sudden glow of their bedroom lights interrupted him and frightened him off. Each time he returned, sought her out, and stabbed her again. Not one person telephoned the police during the assault; one witness called after the woman was dead (Gansberg, 1964). It was a shocking event, which horrified people because they simply could not understand how people could witness a murder and do nothing, not even call the police, to stop it. It was all the more horrifying because the length of time it took the killer to murder Genovese suggests that had even one of the witnesses picked up the telephone and called the police, her murder could have been prevented. • 32. The Significance Of The Miracle Tradition The miracle tradition is one of the most essential themes of the New Testament. It is an integral part of the Gospels; most specifically its importance is noted in the books of Matthew, Mark and Luke, which are together known as the synoptic gospels. Miracles or wondrous deeds were important elements to Jesus teachings. There are many accounts of miraculous events between these three texts, some omitted and some are added. Then Biblical Historians and Scholars must ask themselves, which of these books, if any are historically accurate? Authenticity and historicity can be determined through further analysis of these texts in addition to secondary sources and other non Biblical sources such as Q. Furthermore comparing and contrasting the synoptic gospels will also gauge the amount of historicity within these specific texts. There are infinite factors to consider when deciding the historicity and authenticity of these texts. First one must consider the similarities and differences between each of the synoptic gospels, where the stories parallel and where do they diverge. In the same way such stories are interpreted differently by different individuals. Therefore, can one person s interpretation determine whether it is historically accurate or disprove it in the same way? Biblical Historian Graham Twelfree outlines eight standards for an event or situation to be considered a miracle. First a miracle must be an astonishing event. Secondly, it involves a religious ... • 33. Poetry In Poe s The Raven By Edgar Allan Poe Every time we hear the word poetry we immediately think of romance and beauty. However, having read the poem The Raven by Edgar Allan Poe, we have concluded that even dark and gloomy poetry has its own meaning. While going through its stanzas, the magnificent style and rhythm of Poe s writing made me feel like I also was in the room with the narrator. The poem itself is an incredible experience, filled with deep meanings and symbols that if you re not aware of them you can totally misunderstand the plot. Poetry is an old style of writing which utilizes aesthetic and rhythmic qualities of language to summon and describe feelings. The distinctive styles vary in how the writers incorporate the rhythm and the musicality of its stanzas. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Furthermore, Poe emphasizes the o sound in words such as Lenore and nevermore in order to highlight the lonely melancholy sound of the poem and also to establish the overall atmosphere. Additionally, the repetition of nevermore gives the poem a circular sense while also bringing forth a larger meaning to the poem. Like in many other poems from Poe, The Raven refers to an agonized protagonist with memories of a deceased woman. Lenore, the woman he speaks of in the poem, we could assume she had a premature death which makes the narrator unable to free himself of the pain of her memory. He often asks the raven if there is balm in Gilead and therefore spiritual salvation for the woman. He also asks if she really exists in the afterlife, but the raven confirms his worst suspicions by rejecting his supplications. Leaving all this behind, one the most interesting things about the poem is the raven. Referencing what we learned in class, Poe thought of the raven as the bearer of ill news for a number of reasons. Initially, Poe was looking for an animal that could mimic and produce human like sounds without actually understanding the meaning of them. He first tried using a parrot, the bird could easily repeat words that he could have heard before and it really didn t understand them at all. However, for the dark propose of the poem, such a colorful bird wouldn t fit the profile. Then, he thought of the raven, this one couldn t ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Susan Marshall believes this was the moose s final stand, the moose believing these action displayed by townspeople actions were to tame, ridicule or control it (77). The moose interpreted these actions and begins to reassert itself displaying his strength (Marshall,77). The townspeople react to his action and let fear conquer them, believing the animal is a threat and firing a rifle killing the moose (Marshall,77). Also, David Fraser would argue that the townspeople would have no practical ethics towards animals. Fraser explains in his philosophical article on how humans impact animals into four sections. The townspeople broke section number three Causing direct but unintended harm to animals (Fraser,1). Both actions performed by the townspeople led to the animal feeling in danger, forcing the animal to stand its ground causing its unnecessary death. • 44. Labour Force In Canada The term labour force consists of persons who contribute or are available to contribute to the production of goods and services falling within the System of National Accounts production boundary (Statistics Canada, 2017). According to Canada s first decennial census, the work force was meant to include anyone stating an occupation. However, with increasing industrialization and urbanization, census officials soon accepted the growing myth of one dimensional, cash based economy by further defining occupation as the position in which the enumerated was gainfully employed, which the 1901 census identified as those paid salary or wages or other money allowances (MacDonald, 2010, p. 390). This paper will explore the concept of labour data ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Approaching this data otherwise leaves us with the impression that both women and Black workers did not, and do not, contribute to the Canadian workforce in a meaningful way. In both cases, the numbers depict that white men hold the majority of jobs in which they are the highest salary earners (Fearon Wald 2011, p. 330; MacDonald, 2010, p. 390). Thus, reading these statistics without being critical of the structures they stand upon only proves that white men have made greater contributions to the Canadian labour market, and thus perpetuating the power of data. Therefore, based on the authors findings, it must be concluded that much like the power of data, statistical manipulation essentially distorts the truth and exaggerates statistics way out of proportion to suit a certain agenda. For instance, the way that the wage gap has been similarly evaluated upholds the conviction that women and Black workers do not work as hard as white men do or are unproductive, and therefore they are assumed to be either lazy or incompetent. For example, the total number of women religious in Canada seems grossly under reported in every census year, and yet it is carried into published research, thus skewing data, which results in a significant portion of women religious assumed to have been unproductive ...
