Prison Reform Outline
I.How many of have a relative or a friend who is staying in prison? I believe we have or at least
we had, so what we can do is seek for reform for them. According to UNODC that prison reforms
are necessary to better the conditions for prisoners to enable the creation of an efficient and reliable
correctional system. In reforming the prisonsystem, it is essential for alternatives to imprisonment
to be explored. There has been large number of people serving prison sentences in American
prisons. In fact, America has the world s highest number of prisoners with over 2.2 million
Americans in prison.
II.Many people believe that prison reform would simply increase the criminals rate, but this is false.

we went to The Fleece and Furkin, to watch King Adora. You remember? He bought me a vodka

And when you were away, he would stay at ours. I adored him, I really did. It got so intense. And
I just wanted to tell you, all the things we did together. You d tell me about Paul, and about Derby.
I just wanted to spill. God, so much. Did you know I was hiding something? Every now and then I

Chaco Canyon Essay
Chaco Canyon hi my name is Andres answer my quest New Mexico I went to Chaco Canyon
Chaco Canyon is a historical site that is often forgotten but is still an amazing place to know about.
What was the history, the culture and why did the Chacoans build such immense structures that
were not occupied year round.
The Chacoans were a civilization that lasted from the 800s to the 1100s and were living across
New Mexico. They were an agricultural society that their main food source were the three sisters,
corn, beans, and squash. They also supplemented their diet with any animals they could catch.
In the late 800s Pueblo Bonito, Una Vida, and PeГ±asco Blanco were constructed, followed by
Hungo Pavi, Chetro Ketl, Pueblo Alto, and others. By 1050, Chaco had become the ceremonial,
administrative, and economic center ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This was important because it told the Chacoans when to plant their crops and harvest them.
Other archaeologists think that the great houses were a center for trade due to the fact that they
found items from as far as Central America such as parrot feathers and abalone which is a type of
shell.
The puzzling thing is that there is not a lot of organic waste in the refuse piles which means that
the Native Americans that we were living there we re not there all the time.
we still do not know why the ancestral puebloans left Chaco Canyon and we probably never know
for sure. But it is still a place that many should visit at least once in their life.
my sources were the Chaco Canyon movie and the National Park Service website (https:/
/www.nps.gov/chcu/index.htm)
I chose this site because I thought it would be easier due to the fact that we watch that movie and I
already had previous knowledge. Also I thought you would really be amazing to see these
structures or at least what remains of

Tennessee Williams play A Streetcar Named Desire and Zhang Yimou s film Raise the Red Lantern
both explore the social constraints that have historically been placed on the female gender. Set in
1940s New Orleans and 1920s Northern China respectively, inherent in both texts is an androcentric
and patriarchal society that can be observed to impact the protagonists , Blanche Duboisand
Songlian s, psychological capacities to a substantial extent. Indeed, it can be suggested that their
behaviours, mindsets and attitudes were manipulated by the society in which they lived, the extent
of which will be explored in this essay.

Songlian submits herself to the fate of existing solely to serve a man for whom she exhibits no
emotional attachment. The fact that Blanche and Songlian saw prostitution and the concubine role
respectively as their only option is a reflection of the impact on their psyches by their respective
society s diminished conceptions of women.
Raise the Red Lantern and A Streetcar Named Desire examine the way the power struggles affect
the protagonists interactions and the motives behind these. The power plays, manipulation and
revenge between the four oppressed women. In Raise the Red Lantern are driven by jealousy.
Songlian was initially uncomfortable in her relationship with Chen, exhibited during their first

reluctance, she came to the realisation that if she could manage to have a foot massage everyday

notably when she utilised the situation of cutting Zhuoyun s hair to damage her ear. Similarly,
Blanche is continually struggling against Stella s husband, Stanley, for dominance. Until the arrival
of Blanche, Stanley s masculine power and control was unchallenged. Needing to overcome the fear
she feels around Stanley, Blanche tries to expose, confront and exploit his vulnerabilities,

Should We Continue Human Cloning
One event that will probably in happen in the near future is human cloning. Human cloning began
inevitable when Scottish scientists made Dolly. The sheep was cloned on July 5, 1996 which
made her the most famous sheep in the world. Dolly was the result of 277 failed attempts. She was
actually formed without a sperm. So Dollys cell began from a sheep and was fused with a donor egg
through electricity. Since the birth of Dolly was a major scientific breakthrough, scientists wanted
to perfect human cloning. So people decided to clone animals because it seemed more ethical than
testing humans. President Clinton signed a five year contract so they can began the cloning of
animals and the federal funding. So far, scientists have cloned mice, sheep, pigs, cows, and many
more animals. The chances have now increased to one to four percent. That maybe low however it
increased from a decade ago.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Unfortunately, his findings were false once he reviewed his work . If we continue human cloning,
scientists hypothesize that somatic cell nuclear transfer (SCNT) will be the way. SCNT begins
when doctors take an egg from a female donor. Once they remove the nucleus, the create an
enucleated egg. A DNA cell is taken from the human being cloned. Next, the enucleated fuses with
the subject s cell. This will create an embryo that is implanted in the mother. If the attempt was a
success, the mother gives birth to the clone. However the success rate is only one or two out of 100

Get Paid For Grades
Title of Your Report
Should students be paid for receiving good grades? Yes students should get paid for having good
grades. Many students don t really care about their grades because they don t get a reward. Many
teens don t do nothing to fix their grades they only fix it when they are on a sport. If parents would
reward them for having good grades students would have A and B. Students should get paid
because it teaches to be responsible with money, it can also motivate them, and it can help them in
the future.
To begin, Students could be responsible with things if they could see how hard it is to earn what
they want. Money teaches teens to save and only buy what they need not what they want. Most
parents reward students with money because students want to buy lunch because they don t like
school lunches. Teens are spending most of their money on food. Rewarding students makes them
feel to try harder and harder each time.
Another reason, Parents can motivate students by paying them for having excellent grades and
excellent behavior. Well you might be asking yourself how does money benefit students? Well it
motivate teens to maintain high grades. And it can actually help them in the future for example for
college. Another question you might have is how much should i paid my student? Well most parents
paid students $20 for each A ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Money can help them paid for lunch. They could also paid for something they lost such as a
book. How can money help students in the future? Well it can help them paid for collage. Money
can also help students if they have an accident in the future. You might be asking yourself, is
giving students money a good thing or a bad thing? Giving teens money is a good thing because
they can buy what they need for school. But giving students too much money could be bad because
most teens are responsible when it comes to

The Motivation For Jerry And Christopher At A Ice Cream...
During my screenplay workshop, I received a lot of helpful suggestions on my overall motivation
of my characters. In my revision process, I tried to focus more on the overall motive for my two
main characters. For example, I added the motivation for Jerry and Christopher to open an ice
cream parlor. This helped with my revisionof plot and main conflict because the two characters did
not have enough money for the down payment on the open space. As a result, they decide to rob
a bank in order to get the money for the payment. Another thing I tried to work on during my
revision was the characterization of my two main characters. The two characters are, indeed,
stupid. However, my goal was to make their appearance a little different and they way they spoke
different. An example of my use of characterization is when Christopher speaks. For example,
Christopher is very goofylike Jerry. However, he has a small sense of responsibility/wisdom. In the
car, he is the one to have a notebook with all the information on the vacant space and bank.
Moreover, he is the one that starts to become serious when he fights the hostage in the bank.
Although both of the characters are stupid, Christopher s characteris what keeps the guys going.
Without Chris, Jerry would be clueless. We can see Jerry s characterization through his actions.
Jerry does not think anything through. For instance, in the bank, he brings in business cards with
both their names on them. This is something stupid

Compare and Contrast Brazil and China as Bric Countries
Currently, economic world are more dynamic. Many developed countries such as European Union,
US, and Japan as the largest economic are going to be overtaken by developing countries,

with around 16% in the previous decade . Furthermore, even Goldman Sachs predicted in 2050 the

Therefore, Brazil is trying to utilize China s huge market to replace their lost demand in the US. In
fact, the collaboration between China and Brazil has expanded in multiple sector including
financing, investment in joint projects, energy cooperation, and military sales (EIU, 2010). Thus,
China became the largest trading partner for Brazil since 2009 with value about US$36bn (EIU,
2010).
One of the important factors of the growth in China and Brazil as BRIC countries is Foreign
Direct Investment (FDI). There are several factors that contribute to attract FDI including market
size, institutional and regulatory quality, trade openness, infrastructure quality, economic and
political stability, and labor quality and cost (The World Bank, 2011). China is still the most
attracting for FDI among any other BRIC members (UNCTAD, 2012). Huge amount of market,
low inflation and stability of their government are might be the factors that attracted the FDI in
China. According to the ministry of China, Investment from the United States decreased by 26.1
percent in 2011 to $3 billion, while that from the European Union decreased by 3.65 percent to
$6.3 billion so, China s FDI was hit by the global financial crisis in the EU and US. However, The
most attracted FDI in Brazil is in market size sector with the fact that Brazil will be the host of

Jamacia Kimcaid s Girl
Girl is a story by Jamacia Kimcaid and it is about a mother who has a series of instructions for
her daughter on how she should live her life. She constantly accuses and ridicules the girl about
being a slut and singing calypso songs in church. She tells the girl how she must plant foods, how
she must take care of herself and her house so as not to reveal herself as a slut . Her tone changes
towards the end when she tells the girlto touch the bread at the bakery to see if it is right, to which
the daughter asks what to do if the baker doesn t let her. The mother then says what kind of girl is
she that the baker won t even let her touch bread? The mother is seemingly unreasonable and cruel
towards the girl who seems honest and innocent as she listens to her mother s instructions on how
to complete the tasks in her life. One theme of this story is that of a jealous or vindictive mother

On the other hand, Darcy could just be saying this because he is insecure that she is not interested
in him and does not want to show this. So he decides to put down

Darcy is also shown to be prejudice towards Elizabeth s family in chapter 33 in another way.
Congratulated himself on lately having saved a friend from the inconveniences of a most imprudent
marriage .
Fitzwilliam says to Elizabeth that Darcy has said this. Darcy is shown to be boasting about the
fact that he has saved his friend form a marriage. He thinks that he has saved his friend from
marrying a woman not worth it, and who is not of the same class as them. Elizabeth s pride is
again hurt because he is downgrading her family. Darcy thinks that Elizabeth s sister Jane is not
good enough for his friend,
Mr.Bingley. So, Elizabeth s hatred for Darcy is growing by the fact that he is prejudice towards her
family.
The audience now are made to believe that Darcy is the bad guy .

pride in her character through the way that she talks about her family. She talks about her father

Bullying In Larry King
In the documentary I witness a young boy named Larry King been a subject of bullying for being
gay. First, I will examine the concept of bullying. Next I will discuss about hate crime and how
this act was a hate crime. Lastly, I will examine about victim blame.
Bullying always includes 3 elements, imbalance of power, intent to harm and threat of further
aggression. Bullying is the intentional infliction of injury or discomfort on another person
repeatedly over time when there is a power imbalance between the perpetrator and the victim
(Daigle, Muftic 2016, pg. 241). As mentioned in the textbook, bullying can be both direct and
indirect. Direct bullying involves both physical and verbal actions in the presence of the victim.
Indirect bullying is more subtle and harder to detect. For instance, King being a bi racial, and
being gay made him an easier target of bullying. Males experience greater rates of victimization
at school than do females (Daigle, Muftic 2016, pg. 239). King was a subject of bullying for
being gay. He would have people call him names because he was open about his sexuality.
According to teachers, classmates and themselves felt very uncomfortable with King dressing up
like a girl, and wearing make up, and wearing heels. Having teachers disagree with the way King
represents himself to the point that they did not allow him to express himself freely. A teacher

Mental Processes In Identifying Strangers
1. Identify and define the mental processes that account for mistakes in identifying strangers. Also
identify the circumstances that affect the accuracy of perceptions in identifying strangers.
Memories can be influenced by time, emotion, prejudices, and intentions. It is important to
understand how the mind processes memories and how that could apply to criminal justice.
Psychologists separate memory into three phases: acquisition of memory, retention of memory, and
retrieval of memory [1]. Acquisition of memory is when information is first received in the mind.
Retention of memory is the period of time between acquisition and retrieval: this is an on going
process of storing this information, and when memories can be influenced most. Lastly,... Show

The Similarities And Differences Of Religion, Judaism And...
Belief, as defined by the Oxford Dictionary, is a strong feeling that something or someone exists or
is true, confidence that something or someone is good or right. Religions based on monotheism just
have one god. Some of the religions based on monotheism are Judaism, Zoroastrianism, and
Atenism. These three monotheistic religions have some differences and similarities.
First, according to primaryhomeworkhelp.co.uk, Jewish history begins with the covenant
established between God and Abraham around 1812 BC, during the Bronze Age, in the Middle
East. Abraham is considered as the father of the family of Jews. Moses is also an important figure
as he gave the Jews the Torah around 1250 B.C. The Torah contains the laws of God. . Judaismis
the culture of the Jews. This religion was originated in the land of Palestine in the middle east.
Since the Jews have been migrating around the world, their religion has been growing over time.
There is something difficult to believe. Judaism has no dogma, no formal arrangement of
convictions that one must hold to be a Jew. In Judaism, activities are much more essential than
convictions, although there is surely a place for conviction inside Judaism. Dissimilar to numerous
different religions, Judaism does not concentrate much on conceptual cosmological ideas. Although
Jews have surely considered ideas of God, man, the universe, life, and life following death at
awesome length, there is no conclusive conviction regarding these matters,

Online Gambling And Online Casino
Blog 4 What can players expect more of when it comes to online casino gaming in 2016?
Considering it s January, it is no shock to see that online casino industry analysts are clambering
over themselves to issue predictions for the upcoming 12 months. While some of the predictions are
obvious, it seems that some online casino operators are focussing more on what players want.
Speaking on the matter, we have headed to both the polls and the online casino portals to discover
exactly what that is.
Calls for Anonymity
Big brother society has become an issue throughout the globe, as people are clearly worried about
less than honest government entities. Online casino players have showcased clear concerns
regarding privacy and following reports of NSA spying on British citizens. What this has brought
attention to is the fact that some online casinos just weren t doing enough to safeguard valued
members. While steps have been made to close the curtains as it were, it seems that online casino
players are calling for more of the same in 2016. Privacy was a hot topic last year and it looks like
it will remain so this year too.
Calls for a Challenge

But what about if the abortion worked. Are there still any side effects? There is. Unfortunately, a
list of them;according to the Abortion Facts website there is, bladder injury in which, if your
uterus is perforated, your urinary bladder can be perforated, too. This can cause a painful
peritonitis, an inflamed, infected lining of the abdomen causing dangers and necessary reparative
surgery. Bowel injury happens if your uterus or your intestines are perforated, too. This will cause
nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, fever, blood in stool, peritonitis and death if not treated
quickly enough. A portion of the intestine may have to be taken out, and a temporary or
permanent colostomy may be put in your abdomen. Breast Cancer, in which, the evidence is not

Perfect Moments In Career And Technician Education Program
Looking back on my eighteen years I have had a lot of perfect moments. When put on the spot

Speech Anxiety
MANAGING SEVERE SPEECH ANXIETY
TABLE OF CONTENTS
INTRODUCTION
CURRENT TRENDS AND APPLICATIONS
CONCLUSION
BIBILIOGRAPHY
INTRODUCTION Public speaking is often described as the most common fear in the world. It is
also something that many people are required to do. It may be to give a toast at a wedding, to
present a seminar at work, to make an argument to a local council, to receive an award or to be
interviewed by a board of directors for a job. Public speaking is something few people can avoid
and yet it continues to be a major fear. To understand this fear and how it can be managed and
prevented, the issue will now be looked at in more detail. This will begin with a definition of
public speaking anxiety and a discussion of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These thoughts are then replaced with more positive thoughts. For example, the speaker about to
begin the speech may think to themselves, I am going to bore these people. With cognitive
restructuring, the speaker can instead think to themselves, I am going to make this speech
interesting so the audience are not bored. These cognitive approaches are based on the speaker
learning to associate different emotions to the public speaking activity. Part of these approaches
involves individuals exposing themselves to public speaking situations. A more recent study has
added a new means of achieving this, by allowing the speaker to take part in public speaking
situations via virtual reality. The study concluded that creating a virtual audience the speaker
could interact with, was as effective as using a real audience (Pertaub, Slater Barker). Using
these virtual reality environments and creating a virtual good audience may become a new
method of helping the anxious speaker associate good thoughts with public speaking. For more
minor cases of public speaking anxiety, preparation and practice are common methods of
overcoming the problem. Just like many tasks, the more able a person feels about completing the
task, the less anxiety they experience. This sense of being ready and able to complete a task is
achieved by being prepared. Practice is also important, since this makes the individual

Apathy And Its Effects On Society
Apathy Indifferent. Detached. Desolate from any kind of emotion. This is how one feels when
apathy sneaks its way into their brain. Everything they have ever felt becomes a vague and distant
memory, a vast void. There is nothing that can be done, so it seems to the individual. This leaves
him/her quite helpless. And more often than not, the phrases I don t care! , Why does it even
matter? , and It isn t important are overlooked and are labeled rebellious. But should those phrases
not spark a greater concern? It must be terrifying to view a humanbeing who carries on their lives
with lassitude. Whether or not they know wrong from right, their lack of care and concern
instigates negative consequences from loved ones and society. When one is empty of emotions,
there is nothing stopping them from doing wrong, but there is certainly nothing stopping them
from doing right. The notion that apathetic human beings need supervision, due to fear, needs to be
reevaluated. This concern for those with apathymust be aimed at the reason why. This way,
individuals will have a greater understanding of a realm that is so vastly hollow. Half way
through this essay s first paragraph, I had stopped caring and I had told myself it had not mattered
and continued to sit in this very seat, just staring at my laptop. It was a very foolish thing to tell
myself, as I had barely begun to type up this assignment. But why had I become apathetic, what
were my reasons? One does not simply stop

George Orwell s Animal Farm And Ariel Dorfman s...
Both George Orwell s Animal Farm and Ariel Dorfman s Rebellion of the Magical Rabbits share
the idea that people s ignorance can contribute to their political and social oppression. These
stories are both different, but at the same time are completely the same. The stories both have a
different plot but have the same deeper meaning of ignorance leading to people s social and
political oppression. George Orwell used real life experiences of when political leaders took over

Another relation that these two writers have is that they both quit or were forced out of their

1942 and is still alive today. Both of these authors also had similar writing styles by using
allegories of the dictatorships in their countries. These two authors have a lot in common and

Both Animal Farm and The Rebellion Of The Magical Rabbits have the idea that people s

Essay on Secret Window
Secret Window
The movie, Secret Window, is a psychological thriller that is based on a novella called Secret
Window, Secret Garden by Stephen King. Like most psychological thrillers, the character that
has a mental illness is portrayed in a very exaggerated and dramatic way. Some portrayals can be
very accurate while others are simply for reeling in the audience. For the purpose of this paper, I
will discuss the accuracy of David Koepp s portrayal of Dissociative Identity Disorder in the main
character of Secret Window, some symptoms that are clear and maybe not so clear, as well as
treatment options for DID. Dissociative Identity Disorder, previously known as multiple
personality disorder , is a mental disorder in which a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Along with those symptoms, people with DID may experience depression, mood swings, suicidal
tendencies, sleep disorders, anxiety, panic attacks, phobias, alcohol and drug abuse, compulsions
and rituals, and auditory or visual hallucinations. Headaches, time loss, trance, and out of body
experiences are also not unheard of in people with DID. According to the DSM IV TR, the person
must meet certain criteria in order to be diagnosed with Dissociative Identity Disorder. This
includes two or more distinct identities or personality states being present, each with its own
relatively enduring pattern of perceiving, relating to, and thinking about the environment and self,
at least two of these identities or personality states recurrently taking control of the person s
behavior, the person having an inability to recall important personal information that is too
extensive to be explained by ordinary forgetfulness, and the disturbance not being due to the
direct physiological effects of a substance (such as blackouts or chaotic behavior during alcohol
intoxication) or a general medical condition (such as complex partial seizures). Now that you

trying to be kind hearted and never was afraid to lend a hand to help someone if he could. He

The Divine Comedy By Dante Alighieri Essay
There is no doubt that Dante Alighieri (1265 1321) has made a momentous contribution to
Medieval literature in general and Italian in particular. He is best known for his magnum opus,
The Divine Comedy. It is a brilliant masterpiece of literature which students read as a part of their
curriculum in literature courses, in order to probe the mind of a genius commenting on both
temporal events and the spiritual, scientific, and philosophical themes and concerns of his
predecessors and peers, thereby rendering it one of the most incredible works of the Middle Ages.
As a matter of fact, the Divine Comedyhas been widely read, from the time of its emergence until
the present, due to its vivid and memorable depiction of three realms of the afterlife in the Roman
Catholic milieu of his day: Hell, Purgatory, and Heaven. Dante s Divine Comedy, though, touches
upon very sensitive topics, including, but not limited to, racism, anti Semitism, and Islamophobia.
In this paper, I would like to focus specifically on anti Semitism and Islamophobia, particularly
those incidents conveyed in the Inferno. Dante offers a number of harsh criticisms of the Abrahamic
traditions, and treats some of their most eminent and historical figures in a dreadful manner. The
question, which I intend to address, involves discussion of the current debate surrounding what are
called trigger warnings in academic circles, in terms of whether or not such warnings are necessary
in the teaching of the Divine Comedy.

la compensaciГіn internacional
El enfoque de tarifa se basa en las tasas del mercado local. Base salarial del expatriado estГЎ

Diction In Ovid s Metamorphose
Ovid s Metamorphoses is an exceptionally written epic poem that is broken down into fifteen
books. Throughout these books, tales of woe, danger, adventure, and love are told in a way that
transports readers into the rich and exciting world that Ovid has created. In book three, the tale of
Narcissus and Echo is told using beautiful diction and vivid imagery. The story is ultimately about a
gorgeous man, named Narcissus, who toys with the affections of others, which leaves them
completely despondent; and the sorrowful way that his fate takes revenge upon him. In the end, the
tale of Narcissus and Echo demonstrates to its readers that lovedoes not always lead to happiness,
but instead has a disastrous effect upon one s soul.
The tale of Narcissus and Echo starts off by telling us of a mother, Liriope, who goes to see
someone with great prophetic powers named Teiresias. She asks the seer if her child will live a

Importance Of The Historical Content Of A Modest Proposal
If you ignore the historical content of A Modest Proposal you will misunderstand it. Discuss.
When A Modest Proposal was published, or to give it s full name A Modest Proposal for
preventing the children of poor people in Ireland, from being a burden on their parents or country,
and for making them beneficial to the public. England dominated the whole of Ireland. English
landlords owned much of Ireland s property, Charging ridiculous amounts for rent to poor tenants
who could barely afford to pay. England imposed extremely high taxes on Ireland and the English
laws which restricted Irish trade made it impossible for the country to ever prosper. In general, the
English had, at this time, a negative attitude towards Irish people, and Roman Catholics which most
Irish people were. This knowledge is important when reading and understanding this piece.
Without knowing a little about the political and social state at this time, it may be difficult to pick
up on Swift s use of satire. However the piece itself, even the full title does educate the reader to an
extent, talking about different social classes and focusing particularly on the poor in Ireland. This
essay purports to be neither decisive nor conclusive, but merely attempts to assess the importance
on the historical content of A Modest Proposalin order to see if it is a required element when trying
to understand the piece.
Over time, England progressively gained full authority over Ireland. In 1541 the parliament in

Benefits Of Canada s Double Trade Policy
Although there will be agreement, the double trade policy is going to continue. The benefits of
carrying out this trade is far outweigh the harm. David Watt, HSBC Canada chief economist,
says that for Canada s heavily resource based economy, there are clear benefits to trade deals with a
country that is likely going to be a key driver of commodity prices for the next 30 years. And it
would be a huge mistake if Canadalet this chance go.
The government of Canada will support the policy. As a developing country, China has a large
amount of resource demand. Since Canada is rich in natural resources, the increasing export will
lead to the growth of Canada economic. We should see that as the trade policy continue, Canada
export increase, and there will be higher net export, which means the increase of GDP. We can
find exact evidence for this. The value of Canada s exports to China increased by 5.8% between
2012 and 2013, while the value of Canada s imports from the country grew by 4.0%. ... Show more

The increasing trade with China will definitely influence the benefit of other trade partners of
Canada. The more Canada import from China, the less benefits other countries gain. The U.S.
goods trade deficit with Canada was $ 15 billion in 2015, a 57.1% decrease ($ 20 billion) over
2014. The total value of export trade is less than the total value of imports, which means to spend
more foreign exchange for imports, and cause the reduce of foreign exchange reserves. Another
reason is that as the power of China is rising, the other signatories to TPP will be worried that
whether Canada will ignore the other side of China s rise, like its expansionist claims on maritime

Our Town by Thronton Wilder
Our Town by Thornton Wilder focuses on the lives of the residents of small town Grover s
Corners, New Hampshire in the early 1900s, more specifically, the lives of young George Gibbs
and Emily Webb. Throughout Act I, Thornton describes the daily lives of the people of Grover s
Corners. The milkman delivers the day s milk, the paperboy brings the morning paper, mothers
prepare breakfast, and children get ready for school. The day winds down, everyone has had
their supper, homework is finished, and adults arrive home from choir practice. Life in Grover s
Corners is traditional, ordinary, and unremarkable, not much goes on out of the ordinary. Act II
focuses on love and marriage in the town. The narrator says Almost everybody in the world gets
married, you know what I mean? In our town there aren t hardly any exceptions. Most everybody
in the world climbs into their graves married. and Mrs. Gibbs articulates that People are meant
to go through life two by two. Tain t natural to be lonesome. (54) George and Emily get married,
much like the other young couples of Grover s Corners, and proceed to live blithely and
contentedly on George s uncle s farm. Act III looks into the last act in a person s life, death.

The Popularity of Preschool and Headstart Programs
The parents of today s society are signing up their children for preschool and head start programs
more than ever. About seventy five percent of the nation s four year old attend a preschool
center, as do fifty percent of three year olds. (Barnett, 2008, page 3). Preschool has long been
though to shape a child s academic life, putting a child ahead of the curve in kindergarten and
leading them into a successful school career. The primary reason for attending preschool in past
decades was the known benefits of socialization, but preschool has changed a lot over the years
putting much more emphasis on cognitive development. Gone are the days when children only
focused on colors, shapes, and numbers. Today s preschoolers are learning music and second
languages. Questions still remain about how successful these programs are when it comes to
preparing children for their future academic careers. This paper will examine the known
advantages and disadvantages of sending a child off to preschool as well as what qualities a
preschool should have. Quality of Care Research has shown that the true benefits of preschool
programs are heavily dependent upon the setting and environment in which the learning is taking

Sonnet 14 And True Love Comparison Essay
When it comes to love, each person seems to have a differing opinion and definition on what
constitutes genuine love. Two of these interpretations come from Elizabeth Barrett Browning s
Sonnet 14 and the song Superficial Love by Ruth Berhe. To serve as a bit of a refresher, within the
sonnet, Browning focuses on how lovecan never dwindle when it does not rely on temporal
reasons to stay alive. As for the song, Berhe states her desire to have something that is more than
just a superficial love with her lover. Given that both writers draw attention towards the subject of
love, it makes it easier for individuals to quickly begin the process of analyzing and comparing both

The first one that is mentioned deals with the way she is treated:
Cause I m so done, not being your number one
And if you wanna keep me, then you better treat me
Like a damn princess, make that an empress (12 14)
Not only does this quote demonstrate that Berhe feels as though she is not being placed as a
priority in her lover s eyes, but it also shows how she feels like she isn t being treated in the
manner that she deserves. Another conflict that is revealed places the attention on Berhe s longing
for a genuine connection, one that isn t just felt physically, but also in [her] heart and on [her] mind
(34). So, even though she definitely feels as though there is something there, she wants this bond to
go beyond what is physical. Moving on, the other major difference is the tone of the information.
Simply by reading Sonnet 14 , readers can pick up on Browning s attitude which is one of
frustration. Through the constant repetition of her yearning to be loved just for love, we detect
her exasperation from having to repeat herself to get the point across in order to demonstrate
how important it is to her. On the other hand, Berhe s song has more of a cautionary tone, as she
warns her love to take certain steps to guarantee that their love is not superficial. If it is, she does
not want any part of it: Cause I m not perfect, I m flawed / And if you don t like that, get

Literary Analysis Of Sylvia Plath s Daddy
Sylvia Plath, an incredibly renowned poet and novelist, is well known for her macabre, troubling,
yet amusing works of literature. One of the hallmarks of this is her poem Daddy. In this poem, the
speaker figuratively describes her relationship with her father through many caustic, abrasive
metaphors. The narrator emphasizes her resentment towards her father in this poem, however, the
speaker is unable to conceal the fact that she loves him as well. As such, this poem is filled with
raw emotional turmoil and no clear ideological champion by the end.
One of the most striking things about this poem is the continuous metaphor Plath uses comparing
the speaker s father to a Nazi and the speaker to a Jew. This simile conveys to the reader the degree
to which the narrator has suffered at the hands of her father. The narrator indicates that she is
not actually Jewish in her use of simile here: she states that she is like a Jew (34), which implies
that the speaker is distancing herself from actual Jews. However, the speaker says she may well
be a Jew (35) because her father s words served as an engine Chuffing [her] off like a Jew [...] to
Dachau, Auschwitz, Belsen (33). In choosing to describe her relationship with her father as
analogous to the holocaust one of the most horrific, cruel, and inhumane events in human history
the narrator conveys the feeling of being tortured by her father. The narrator paints herself as a
helpless victim by saying that she related to people on trains to concentration camps. Although this
is a gross exaggeration of the speaker s circumstances, her use of this metaphor shows the
undeniably intense pain the speaker experienced at the hands of her father.
In addition to the animosity the speaker clearly has towards her father, another component
contributing to this disdain is fear of her father. In the first stanza, the narrator describes her father
as a black shoe/ In which [she has] lived like a foot/ For thirty years, poor and white,/ Barely
daring to breathe or Achoo (2 5). This is a telling metaphor because in the narrator describing
herself as the poor white foot in a black shoe, it demonstrates that she is unable to escape a
constraint which should not be forced

Private Security Forces in Iraq
Private Security Forces In Iraq The on going war in Iraq has been a war that has changed the
tactics in which war is fought. The war in Iraq has been fought mainly through the use of aerial
missiles and by surprise, a large number of women. This current war has demonstrated the
change of times and the rise of the information age. But the most surprising aspect of the war in
Iraq is the large sum of private security forces patrolling Iraq. These private security forces have
amassed to around 20,000 soldiers so far in the Iraqi region and growing. Their role according to a
New York Times article, is in addition to guarding innumerable reconstruction projects, private
companies are being asked to provide security for the chief of the... Show more content on

Prince started the company hoping luck was at his side; he bet his money on the fact that the
government was getting more and more eager to use the aid of businesses to put people on the
front line. Luckily for Prince, this game of chance paid off. After September 11th the private
security companies saw a major advancement in the industry, the government rapidly privatizing
jobs previously reserved for only uniformed troops. Although the presence of these contractors are
good and useful protection for the military presence already in Iraq, there are many problems as
the rules and regulations that the contractors must follow still aren t set in stone. In addition,
because there is no real front in the war, the private contractors are scattered in non combat as well
as combative zones, dissolving the distinction between an actual soldier and a privately contracted
protector of the troops. This blurring of lines makes it easier for one to begin to see these
individuals as mercenaries (individuals fighting strictly for personal benefit) and not contractors
employed for extra protection, which is banned by the Geneva Convention. These contractors have
obligation to their employers, not to the US, and because of that do not have to follow any military
code of conduct, but only follow the business rules of the company that hired them. The payment of
these contractors also can insinuate that these individuals are in this

Chip Cards And Magnetic Stripe Cards
Chip Cards V.S. Magnetic Stripe Cards Nowadays, the use of cards is becoming more and more
frequent because of its convenience. And the technology provides the way to make cards
become more practical. Two most common types of cards that people use are chip cards and
magnetic cards. Both chip cards and magnetic stripe cards are broadly used all over the world in
diverse areas of people s life. However, chip cards and magnetic stripe cards are different from
the security, function, and the process of the transaction. The first difference between chip
cards and magnetic stripe cards is the security of the cards. Due to people put the data into the
cards, the security of the cards is a serious factor of the cards. Once the security is not reasonable
that the data leaks out, the owner of the card will suffer a large loss. The data includes the
profile of a person, like the home and work addresses, the phone number, and the most important
element is the money that is in the credit cards and debit cards. Basically, people pay the greatest
attention to whether the money in the card is safe or not. Chip card has high standard on the
security. It is difficult to clone the information of the cards. And by now, there are no examples of
cloning the information on chip cards. According to one of the authorized bank Chase, a chip
provides an extra status of security to cards. It needs to produce one time code to finish the process
of the transaction. It protects cards from the illegal

What Is The Importance Of Memory In Our Lives
The Importance of Memory in Our Lives Memory is a process that involves retention, retrieval,
and using the information that is taken in by the senses and stored. Memory can be compared to
a time machine that allows you to go back into any moment in time. Memory can also be used by
students to remember material for exams, their daily schedule, names, phone numbers, and
directions to places. There are other things that students are not aware we use memory for such
things are having conversations because memory is needed to track how the conversation is
flowing as well as finding a class because it is necessary to remember the spatial layout of
campus. Studying Memory Richard Atkinson and Richard Shiffrin (1968) proposed a model
called the modal model of memory and was sort of a compilation of many features of models
that were being proposed at that time. The model has structural features which are three stages.
The first state is sensory memory which is where all information that is being taken in is held
for a couple of seconds. The second stage is the short term memory which can hold 5 to 7 items
for 15 to 30 seconds. The last stage is long term memory can hold a large amount of information
that can be stored for years or decades. This memory system is described as a control process
because it is active and is controlled by the individual and differs from person to person. Control
process includes rehearsal which is the repetition of a stimulus in order to keep it in your

Malnutrition, Its Impacts And Consequences Essay
Discuss and define malnutrition, its impacts and consequences in both adult and paediatric patients,
reflecting on your experiences from classroom discussions, A placement and the key evidence base.
Include discussions of screening and use of the nutrition support algorithm and describe and discuss
the tools used in settings to enable effective nutritionsupport.
Malnutrition is the imbalance of body nutrients, energy and protein, which cause negative impacts
on the body and its functions. Imbalances can mean levels exceed bodily requirements
(overnutrition), leading to conditions like obesity and vitamin overdose effects. Malnutrition also
refers to insufficient intake (undernutrition), which can cause conditions such as anaemia.
From a clinical perspective, malnutrition is a body mass index (BMI) of less than 18.5kg/m2,
unintentional weight loss greater than 10% within the last 3 6 months, a BMI of less than 20kg/m2
and unintentional weight loss greater than 5% within the last 3 6 months (Malnutrition Task Force,
2013, p.7).
One suggested cause of malnutrition is financial limitations, as not all families can afford
nutritionally rich, balanced diets. The National Children s Home (NCH) Poverty and Nutrition
Survey 1991 found that two thirds of children and more than ВЅ of the parents (of families
attending NCH Family Centres) were eating nutritionally inadequate diets (Leather, 1996, p.20).
From A Placement observation of a paediatric outpatient clinic, it is evident that

The Dark Stories By Sylvia Plath
Do you ever wish you could take the worst moment of your life and experience it like it never
happened? In Belzhar by Meg Wolitzer that is exactly what happened to five teenagers. These
teens attended the Wooden Barn a school for the fragile. Casey, Sierra, Griffin, Marc, and Jam
were all chosen to be in an odd class, Special Topics English. Mrs. Quenell their teacher had
chosen the dark stories by Sylvia Plath the only author they were going to read the semester.
When the students finally began to use their journals they were given, they began to experience
this state of Belzhar. The students were whisked back to the time of their life where they had not
experienced their trauma. Each of these students went through something like Sylvia Plath that
differentiated them from normal teens but because of Belzhar they were healed emotionally.
Sierra s brother was missing, Jam s boyfriend had died, and Casey is paralyzed but they got
through it thanks to Belzhar. Sierra Stokes is from Washington, DC and loves her little brother
AndrГ©. One night he went to the store to buy and never returned. Sierra s family was
devastated and Sierra was constantly contacting the detective even three years later. When Sierra
went to Belzhar she experienced time with her brother. Worst of all no one really knew what she
was going through. In Sierra s final time in Belzhar she had to experience losing AndrГ© again
and she could not leave him, so she stayed in Belzhar. Sierra was found in what

Short Summary of the Great Gatsby
Biography of F. Scott Fitzgerald
About F. Scott Fitzgerald
Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald was born on September 24, 1896, the only son of an aristocratic
father and a provincial, working class mother. He was therefore the product of two divergent
traditions: while his father s family included the author of The Star Spangled Banner (after whom
Fitzgerald was named), his mother s family was, in Fitzgerald s own words, straight 1850 potato
famine Irish. As a result of this contrast, he was exceedingly ambivalent about the notion of the
American dream: for him, it was at once vulgar and dazzlingly promising. It need scarcely be noted
that such fascinated ambivalence is itself typically American.
Like the central character of The Great ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Fitzgerald s own divided nature can be seen in the contrast between the novel s hero, Jay Gatsby,
and its narrator, Nick Carraway. The former represents the naive Midwesterner dazzled by the
possibilities of the American dream; the latter represents the compassionate Princeton gentleman
who cannot help but regard that dream with suspicion. The Great Gatsby may be described as the
most profoundly American novel of its time; Fitzgerald connects Gatsby s dream, his Platonic
conception of himself, with the aspirations of the founders of America.
A year later, Fitzgerald published a collection of short stories entitled All the Sad Young Men.
This book marks the end of the most productive period of Fitzgerald s life; the next decade was
full of chaos and misery. Fitzgerald himself began to drink excessively, and Zelda began a slow
descent into madness. In 1930 she suffered her first mental breakdown; her second breakdown,
from which she never fully recovered, came in 1932.
Throughout the 1930s the Fitzgeralds fought an ultimately unsuccessful battle to save their
marriage. This struggle was tremendously debilitating for Fitzgerald; he later said that he left
[his] capacity for hoping on the little roads that led to Zelda s sanitarium. He did not finish his
next novel, Tender Is the Night, until 1934. It is the story of a psychiatrist who marries one of his
patients, who, as she slowly recovers, exhausts his vitality until he is a man used up. This book, the

  • 10. The Motivation For Jerry And Christopher At A Ice Cream... During my screenplay workshop, I received a lot of helpful suggestions on my overall motivation of my characters. In my revision process, I tried to focus more on the overall motive for my two main characters. For example, I added the motivation for Jerry and Christopher to open an ice cream parlor. This helped with my revisionof plot and main conflict because the two characters did not have enough money for the down payment on the open space. As a result, they decide to rob a bank in order to get the money for the payment. Another thing I tried to work on during my revision was the characterization of my two main characters. The two characters are, indeed, stupid. However, my goal was to make their appearance a little different and they way they spoke different. An example of my use of characterization is when Christopher speaks. For example, Christopher is very goofylike Jerry. However, he has a small sense of responsibility/wisdom. In the car, he is the one to have a notebook with all the information on the vacant space and bank. For instance, in the bank, he brings in business cards with both their names on them. This is something stupid ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 15. Bullying In Larry King In the documentary I witness a young boy named Larry King been a subject of bullying for being gay. First, I will examine the concept of bullying. Next I will discuss about hate crime and how this act was a hate crime. Lastly, I will examine about victim blame. Bullying always includes 3 elements, imbalance of power, intent to harm and threat of further aggression. Bullying is the intentional infliction of injury or discomfort on another person repeatedly over time when there is a power imbalance between the perpetrator and the victim (Daigle, Muftic 2016, pg. 241). As mentioned in the textbook, bullying can be both direct and indirect. Direct bullying involves both physical and verbal actions in the presence of the victim. Indirect bullying is more subtle and harder to detect. For instance, King being a bi racial, and being gay made him an easier target of bullying. Males experience greater rates of victimization at school than do females (Daigle, Muftic 2016, pg. 239). King was a subject of bullying for being gay. He would have people call him names because he was open about his sexuality. According to teachers, classmates and themselves felt very uncomfortable with King dressing up like a girl, and wearing make up, and wearing heels. Judaismis the culture of the Jews. This religion was originated in the land of Palestine in the middle east. Since the Jews have been migrating around the world, their religion has been growing over time. There is something difficult to believe. Judaism has no dogma, no formal arrangement of convictions that one must hold to be a Jew. In Judaism, activities are much more essential than convictions, although there is surely a place for conviction inside Judaism. Calls for Anonymity Big brother society has become an issue throughout the globe, as people are clearly worried about less than honest government entities. Online casino players have showcased clear concerns regarding privacy and following reports of NSA spying on British citizens. Speech Anxiety MANAGING SEVERE SPEECH ANXIETY TABLE OF CONTENTS INTRODUCTION CURRENT TRENDS AND APPLICATIONS CONCLUSION BIBILIOGRAPHY INTRODUCTION Public speaking is often described as the most common fear in the world. It is also something that many people are required to do. It may be to give a toast at a wedding, to present a seminar at work, to make an argument to a local council, to receive an award or to be interviewed by a board of directors for a job. Public speaking is something few people can avoid and yet it continues to be a major fear. To understand this fear and how it can be managed and prevented, the issue will now be looked at in more detail. This will begin with a definition of public speaking anxiety and a discussion of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These thoughts are then replaced with more positive thoughts. For example, the speaker about to begin the speech may think to themselves, I am going to bore these people. With cognitive restructuring, the speaker can instead think to themselves, I am going to make this speech interesting so the audience are not bored. These cognitive approaches are based on the speaker learning to associate different emotions to the public speaking activity. Part of these approaches involves individuals exposing themselves to public speaking situations. A more recent study has added a new means of achieving this, by allowing the speaker to take part in public speaking situations via virtual reality. The study concluded that creating a virtual audience the speaker could interact with, was as effective as using a real audience (Pertaub, Slater Barker). Using these virtual reality environments and creating a virtual good audience may become a new method of helping the anxious speaker associate good thoughts with public speaking. For more minor cases of public speaking anxiety, preparation and practice are common methods of overcoming the problem. Just like many tasks, the more able a person feels about completing the task, the less anxiety they experience. This sense of being ready and able to complete a task is achieved by being prepared. And more often than not, the phrases I don t care! , Why does it even matter? , and It isn t important are overlooked and are labeled rebellious. But should those phrases not spark a greater concern? It must be terrifying to view a humanbeing who carries on their lives with lassitude. Whether or not they know wrong from right, their lack of care and concern instigates negative consequences from loved ones and society. When one is empty of emotions, there is nothing stopping them from doing wrong, but there is certainly nothing stopping them from doing right. The notion that apathetic human beings need supervision, due to fear, needs to be reevaluated. This concern for those with apathymust be aimed at the reason why. This way, individuals will have a greater understanding of a realm that is so vastly hollow. Half way through this essay s first paragraph, I had stopped caring and I had told myself it had not mattered and continued to sit in this very seat, just staring at my laptop. For the purpose of this paper, I will discuss the accuracy of David Koepp s portrayal of Dissociative Identity Disorder in the main character of Secret Window, some symptoms that are clear and maybe not so clear, as well as treatment options for DID. According to the DSM IV TR, the person must meet certain criteria in order to be diagnosed with Dissociative Identity Disorder. • 28. The Divine Comedy By Dante Alighieri Essay There is no doubt that Dante Alighieri (1265 1321) has made a momentous contribution to Medieval literature in general and Italian in particular. He is best known for his magnum opus, The Divine Comedy. It is a brilliant masterpiece of literature which students read as a part of their curriculum in literature courses, in order to probe the mind of a genius commenting on both temporal events and the spiritual, scientific, and philosophical themes and concerns of his predecessors and peers, thereby rendering it one of the most incredible works of the Middle Ages. As a matter of fact, the Divine Comedyhas been widely read, from the time of its emergence until the present, due to its vivid and memorable depiction of three realms of the afterlife in the Roman Catholic milieu of his day: Hell, Purgatory, and Heaven. Dante s Divine Comedy, though, touches upon very sensitive topics, including, but not limited to, racism, anti Semitism, and Islamophobia. In this paper, I would like to focus specifically on anti Semitism and Islamophobia, particularly those incidents conveyed in the Inferno. Dante offers a number of harsh criticisms of the Abrahamic traditions, and treats some of their most eminent and historical figures in a dreadful manner. The question, which I intend to address, involves discussion of the current debate surrounding what are called trigger warnings in academic circles, in terms of whether or not such warnings are necessary in the teaching of the Divine Comedy. ... Throughout these books, tales of woe, danger, adventure, and love are told in a way that transports readers into the rich and exciting world that Ovid has created. In book three, the tale of Narcissus and Echo is told using beautiful diction and vivid imagery. The story is ultimately about a gorgeous man, named Narcissus, who toys with the affections of others, which leaves them completely despondent; and the sorrowful way that his fate takes revenge upon him. When A Modest Proposal was published, or to give it s full name A Modest Proposal for preventing the children of poor people in Ireland, from being a burden on their parents or country, and for making them beneficial to the public. England dominated the whole of Ireland. English landlords owned much of Ireland s property, Charging ridiculous amounts for rent to poor tenants who could barely afford to pay. England imposed extremely high taxes on Ireland and the English laws which restricted Irish trade made it impossible for the country to ever prosper. In general, the English had, at this time, a negative attitude towards Irish people, and Roman Catholics which most Irish people were. This knowledge is important when reading and understanding this piece. Without knowing a little about the political and social state at this time, it may be difficult to pick up on Swift s use of satire. Preschool has long been though to shape a child s academic life, putting a child ahead of the curve in kindergarten and leading them into a successful school career. The primary reason for attending preschool in past decades was the known benefits of socialization, but preschool has changed a lot over the years putting much more emphasis on cognitive development. • 39. Sonnet 14 And True Love Comparison Essay When it comes to love, each person seems to have a differing opinion and definition on what constitutes genuine love. Two of these interpretations come from Elizabeth Barrett Browning s Sonnet 14 and the song Superficial Love by Ruth Berhe. To serve as a bit of a refresher, within the sonnet, Browning focuses on how lovecan never dwindle when it does not rely on temporal reasons to stay alive. As for the song, Berhe states her desire to have something that is more than just a superficial love with her lover. Given that both writers draw attention towards the subject of love, it makes it easier for individuals to quickly begin the process of analyzing and comparing both works. After all, we are constantly and instantaneously making... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first one that is mentioned deals with the way she is treated: Cause I m so done, not being your number one And if you wanna keep me, then you better treat me Like a damn princess, make that an empress (12 14) Not only does this quote demonstrate that Berhe feels as though she is not being placed as a priority in her lover s eyes, but it also shows how she feels like she isn t being treated in the manner that she deserves. Another conflict that is revealed places the attention on Berhe s longing for a genuine connection, one that isn t just felt physically, but also in [her] heart and on [her] mind (34). So, even though she definitely feels as though there is something there, she wants this bond to go beyond what is physical. Moving on, the other major difference is the tone of the information. Simply by reading Sonnet 14 , readers can pick up on Browning s attitude which is one of frustration. Through the constant repetition of her yearning to be loved just for love, we detect her exasperation from having to repeat herself to get the point across in order to demonstrate how important it is to her. On the other hand, Berhe s song has more of a cautionary tone, as she warns her love to take certain steps to guarantee that their love is not superficial. If it is, she does not want any part of it: Cause I m not perfect, I m flawed / And if you don t like that, get ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. Literary Analysis Of Sylvia Plath s Daddy Sylvia Plath, an incredibly renowned poet and novelist, is well known for her macabre, troubling, yet amusing works of literature. One of the hallmarks of this is her poem Daddy. In this poem, the speaker figuratively describes her relationship with her father through many caustic, abrasive metaphors. The narrator emphasizes her resentment towards her father in this poem, however, the speaker is unable to conceal the fact that she loves him as well. As such, this poem is filled with raw emotional turmoil and no clear ideological champion by the end. One of the most striking things about this poem is the continuous metaphor Plath uses comparing the speaker s father to a Nazi and the speaker to a Jew. This simile conveys to the reader the degree to which the narrator has suffered at the hands of her father. The narrator indicates that she is not actually Jewish in her use of simile here: she states that she is like a Jew (34), which implies that the speaker is distancing herself from actual Jews. However, the speaker says she may well be a Jew (35) because her father s words served as an engine Chuffing [her] off like a Jew [...] to Dachau, Auschwitz, Belsen (33). In choosing to describe her relationship with her father as analogous to the holocaust one of the most horrific, cruel, and inhumane events in human history the narrator conveys the feeling of being tortured by her father. The narrator paints herself as a helpless victim by saying that she related to people on trains to concentration camps. Although this is a gross exaggeration of the speaker s circumstances, her use of this metaphor shows the undeniably intense pain the speaker experienced at the hands of her father. In addition to the animosity the speaker clearly has towards her father, another component contributing to this disdain is fear of her father. In the first stanza, the narrator describes her father as a black shoe/ In which [she has] lived like a foot/ For thirty years, poor and white,/ Barely daring to breathe or Achoo (2 5). This is a telling metaphor because in the narrator describing herself as the poor white foot in a black shoe, it demonstrates that she is unable to escape a constraint which should not be forced ... The war in Iraq has been fought mainly through the use of aerial missiles and by surprise, a large number of women. This current war has demonstrated the change of times and the rise of the information age. But the most surprising aspect of the war in Iraq is the large sum of private security forces patrolling Iraq. These private security forces have amassed to around 20,000 soldiers so far in the Iraqi region and growing. Prince started the company hoping luck was at his side; he bet his money on the fact that the government was getting more and more eager to use the aid of businesses to put people on the front line. Luckily for Prince, this game of chance paid off. After September 11th the private security companies saw a major advancement in the industry, the government rapidly privatizing jobs previously reserved for only uniformed troops. Although the presence of these contractors are good and useful protection for the military presence already in Iraq, there are many problems as the rules and regulations that the contractors must follow still aren t set in stone. In addition, because there is no real front in the war, the private contractors are scattered in non combat as well as combative zones, dissolving the distinction between an actual soldier and a privately contracted protector of the troops. This blurring of lines makes it easier for one to begin to see these individuals as mercenaries (individuals fighting strictly for personal benefit) and not contractors employed for extra protection, which is banned by the Geneva Convention. These contractors have obligation to their employers, not to the US, and because of that do not have to follow any military code of conduct, but only follow the business rules of the company that hired them. The payment of these contractors also can insinuate that these individuals are in this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 43. What Is The Importance Of Memory In Our Lives The Importance of Memory in Our Lives Memory is a process that involves retention, retrieval, and using the information that is taken in by the senses and stored. Memory can be compared to a time machine that allows you to go back into any moment in time. Memory can also be used by students to remember material for exams, their daily schedule, names, phone numbers, and directions to places. There are other things that students are not aware we use memory for such things are having conversations because memory is needed to track how the conversation is flowing as well as finding a class because it is necessary to remember the spatial layout of campus. Studying Memory Richard Atkinson and Richard Shiffrin (1968) proposed a model called the modal model of memory and was sort of a compilation of many features of models that were being proposed at that time. The model has structural features which are three stages. The first state is sensory memory which is where all information that is being taken in is held for a couple of seconds. The second stage is the short term memory which can hold 5 to 7 items for 15 to 30 seconds. The last stage is long term memory can hold a large amount of information that can be stored for years or decades. This memory system is described as a control process because it is active and is controlled by the individual and differs from person to person. Control process includes rehearsal which is the repetition of a stimulus in order to keep it in your ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Malnutrition, Its Impacts And Consequences Essay Discuss and define malnutrition, its impacts and consequences in both adult and paediatric patients, reflecting on your experiences from classroom discussions, A placement and the key evidence base. Include discussions of screening and use of the nutrition support algorithm and describe and discuss the tools used in settings to enable effective nutritionsupport. Malnutrition is the imbalance of body nutrients, energy and protein, which cause negative impacts on the body and its functions. Imbalances can mean levels exceed bodily requirements (overnutrition), leading to conditions like obesity and vitamin overdose effects. Malnutrition also refers to insufficient intake (undernutrition), which can cause conditions such as anaemia. From a clinical perspective, malnutrition is a body mass index (BMI) of less than 18.5kg/m2, unintentional weight loss greater than 10% within the last 3 6 months, a BMI of less than 20kg/m2 and unintentional weight loss greater than 5% within the last 3 6 months (Malnutrition Task Force, 2013, p.7). One suggested cause of malnutrition is financial limitations, as not all families can afford nutritionally rich, balanced diets. The National Children s Home (NCH) Poverty and Nutrition Survey 1991 found that two thirds of children and more than ВЅ of the parents (of families attending NCH Family Centres) were eating nutritionally inadequate diets (Leather, 1996, p.20). • 46. Short Summary of the Great Gatsby Biography of F. Scott Fitzgerald About F. Scott Fitzgerald Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald was born on September 24, 1896, the only son of an aristocratic father and a provincial, working class mother. He was therefore the product of two divergent traditions: while his father s family included the author of The Star Spangled Banner (after whom Fitzgerald was named), his mother s family was, in Fitzgerald s own words, straight 1850 potato famine Irish. As a result of this contrast, he was exceedingly ambivalent about the notion of the American dream: for him, it was at once vulgar and dazzlingly promising. It need scarcely be noted that such fascinated ambivalence is itself typically American. Like the central character of The Great ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Fitzgerald s own divided nature can be seen in the contrast between the novel s hero, Jay Gatsby, and its narrator, Nick Carraway. The former represents the naive Midwesterner dazzled by the possibilities of the American dream; the latter represents the compassionate Princeton gentleman who cannot help but regard that dream with suspicion. The Great Gatsby may be described as the most profoundly American novel of its time; Fitzgerald connects Gatsby s dream, his Platonic conception of himself, with the aspirations of the founders of America. A year later, Fitzgerald published a collection of short stories entitled All the Sad Young Men. This book marks the end of the most productive period of Fitzgerald s life; the next decade was full of chaos and misery. Fitzgerald himself began to drink excessively, and Zelda began a slow descent into madness. In 1930 she suffered her first mental breakdown; her second breakdown, from which she never fully recovered, came in 1932. Throughout the 1930s the Fitzgeralds fought an ultimately unsuccessful battle to save their marriage. This struggle was tremendously debilitating for Fitzgerald; he later said that he left [his] capacity for hoping on the little roads that led to Zelda s sanitarium. He did not finish his next novel, Tender Is the Night, until 1934. It is the story of a psychiatrist who marries one of his patients, who, as she slowly recovers, exhausts his vitality until he is a man used up. This book, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
