The Standard Model of particle physics is a theory concerning the electromagnetic, weak and strong
forces, as well as classifying all the subatomic particles known. It was developed as a collaborative
effort of scientists around the world during the latter half of the 20th century. Because of its success in
explaining wide variety of experimental results, the Standard Model is often referred to as a theory of
almost everything . Although the Standard Model is quite consistent, it does not address some
profound questions about the nature of the universe and it does leave some phenomena unexplained.
One of these phenomena that the Standard Model doesn t explain is gravity. (CERN, 2015)

Bartleby The Scrivener Narrator
Who is the narrator in Bartleby the Scrivener ? What is he like? The narrator in Bartleby the Scrivener
is committed, he just wants to get the job done, he is understanding, and very compassionate. The
narrator believes that he will figure everything out and he never gets angry at Bartleby. He cares about
all of his employees and wants them to be safe and happy. The narrator does whatever is best for him
and his work so that everything gets done efficiently. There are many examples in the story that show
how the narrator of the story is very committed. The narrator figures out ways to make his employees

Even in times where his employees are causing him a lot of anguish he always understands and never
gets too angry. When the narrator first asks Bartleby to do a task and Bartleby says I would prefer not
to. (Melville 306), the narrator does not get very angry, he questions Bartleby but then proceeds to sit
back down and go on with his day. Most people with employees would get very angry at them and
scold them but instead the narrator just sits back down and thinks about it and assumes that Bartleby
did not have bad intentions. The narrator states I should have violently dismissed him from the
premises. But as it was, I should have as soon thought of turning my pale plaster of paris bust of
Cicero out of doors. I stood gazing at him awhile, as he went on with his own writing, and then
reseated myself at my desk. (Melville 307). It is also shown in the story that he is understanding when
he fires Bartleby yet he comes back to his office to find Bartleby still inside and he does not make any
rash decisions and refuses to treat Bartleby with any disrespect, however the narrator did not want
Bartleby to be living under his roof for free. The narrator thinks to himself Turn the man out by an

Michael Pollan Foods
Michael Pollan once said, In America we eat, collectively with a glum urge for food to fill us. We are
ignorant of flavor. We are as a nation taste blind. I agree with his statement; fast foods and frozen
foods are slowly killing people s taste buds. Fast and frozen foods leaves our taste buds blind towards
true flavor of homemade meals. People need to stop eating foods that are not freshly cooked, and they
should start eating foods that are freshly made with rich seasonings. The problem is that people do not
take the time to realize that fast and frozen foods are causing them to become blind to the taste of
cooked traditional homemade dinners. Americans have to wake up, open their eyes, and spend more
time making homemade foods to enjoy the true meaning of flavor. Until then, our nation s taste buds
will be blunted by fast foods and frozen foods. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Jamaica Essay
Tropical Paradise
In a quaint little village tucked away on a beautiful Caribbean island, lays the seaside town of
Runaway bay. A town filled with deep rooted culture on an island filled with welcoming natives. The
pleasant vibes of reggae music and Rastafarian culture flow from the hills to the sandy shores. This
island rich with tropical fruits and spices is located in the heart of the Greater Antilles. History tells
that the enslaved island once known to its natives as Xaymeca , has come a long way in becoming the
independent nation known today as Jamaica. In the Sea of many islands known as the West Indies,
Jamaica stands peaceful, welcoming tourist and expanding rapidly. From an early age my passion for

Patios, pronounced (pa twaa), an extreme Jamaican slang of the English language. Rastafarians live
off the land and worship freely in the green mountains of the inner island. From an economic stand
point Jamaica is generally a poor country with an average family income of 2,000 dollars a year. As a
result Jamaican people rely heavily on the precious U.S. dollar brought in through tourism. Jamaica s
number one source for trade is Bauxite. The mineral rock Bauxite is rich within the rocky coast of the
island. Although the overall status of Jamaican society remains poor, the abundant source of fish,
fruits, and spices keep the natives well fed. Curry goat and Akki (saltfish/eggs) fill the bellies of
Jamaicans everyday. Among my favorites are jerk pork and

Troy In Clemence Mclaren s Inside The Walls Of Troy
There are many notable retellings of the story of Troy that focus on the perspectives of minor
characters, rather than the central characters commonly known in the Iliad, the great warriors Achilles
and Hector. The novel Inside the Walls of Troy by Clemence McLaren does just this by featuring the
perspectives of Helen of Sparta, the beloved of Paris, and Cassandra of Troy, the daughter of King
Priam for different periods of time before, throughout, and after the end of the war. The author, a
modern era female writer, focuses the text s aims and attentions to other modern females, albeit young
adults. Due to this specific genre, McLaren s retelling must fulfill certain expectations, such as
relaying the story of Troy in an interesting enough manner as to hold the audience s attention and
incorporating strong female protagonists the audience can not only relate to, but identify with. To do
this, the original epic, the Iliad, wholly from the perspective of battle hardened men and a complex,
tedious read must be transformed to simple language that resonates with young, female readers of a
contemporary society, while still imparting the significant insights of the original text. McLaren s
retelling of the Iliad comprises of many events and character traits that allow the audience to engage
with and appreciate the story of Troy in a way that the original version does not allow for, such as:
Cassandra s attribute as a prophetess and narrator, Helen s childhood narrative, Polyxena s retrieval of
Hector s body, and lastly, Helenus s character as a male character who recognizes women to be the
equals of men. Cassandra narrates the second half of McLaren s novel, but more importantly, is given
the attribute of a prophetess. This is a stark contrast to her character in the Iliad who is mentioned only
twice, once as a commodity, a wife to be won, and the other as an entity not belonging to herself, but
as the sister of Hector who wails and laments upon the death of her dear brother. Firstly, by making
her a prophetess, McLaren not only makes Cassandra a complex character, but gives her agency, as
she is able to use her prophetic abilities for good by warning those who would listen of the destruction

Online shopping Web based shopping is one of the best parts of the web today. By shopping on the

others that are not all that obvious. With this article, we will start with the less clear advantages of

Hypertension (HTN), a chronic form of high blood pressure is diagnosed through a series of
diagnostic tests which are performed in order to formally establish the particular disease or condition.

from prolonged hypertension and the use of the drug therapy. There are still other alternative treatment

Since the patient does not live a stable or an average existence several lifestyle changes will have to be

Gender Violence And Sexual Violence In Fairy Tales
The frequent use of connotations in the tales helps readers to associate the reality with the fantasy.
Some fairy tales implicitly conveys some content that are not so suitable for children, yet they do not
directly tell the message by showing all the violent scenes. As the adults somehow find it hard to tell
the truth to their children, they need a tale like Little Red Cap to introduce a sensitive but important
concept to the next generation. Scholars suggest that Little Red Cap is a story about rape (Cashdan, 9).
Little Red Cap and her grandma are consumed by the aggressive wolf. The active role of a male preys
on the passive innocent girl illustrates gender violence and sexual violence clearly. If we reread the
lines in the story once again by holding the lens of thinking the story in this way, all the lines have ...

The aforementioned lines suddenly become suspicious and erotic to the readers. Indeed, fairy tales are
soaked with blatant sexual references thus yielded to stories that catered more to childhood
sensibilities (Cashdan, 10) Another example from Rapunzel of telling and not telling is that the flow of
the storyline mentions how Rapunzel has no social contact with the outside word before the day she
meets the prince, the old witch then cut her hair and take her to the lonely dessert place. The story
naturally flows to the part when she sees her prince again after her exile, she is with the twins that she
had given birth to (Grimm, 1) . It is conceivable that there are some missing parts in the story that are
not mentioned in the text, the existence of the twins implies that some reproductive behavior happens

Rhetorical Analysis Of Black Lungs
Black Lungs
The media is one of the main influencers in our lives, although some of us may not like to admit it. We
rely on it to test products, provide reviews, and shape our views, among other things. With this being
the case, advertisers have found different ways to entice different audiences and provoke emotional
responses with imagery, sound, and audio cues. This essay about a media advertisement will bring you
through these aspects and explain them more in depth pertaining to my individual piece. My
advertisement was one meant to inform the audience on harmful practices that are causing the
destruction of our forests, and along with it our air. This advertisement is about deforestation and our
air quality.
Our continuous chopping of forests and trees has not only affected us and the forest, but animals and
tribes of people as well. So many living things depend on the forests to survive and without that we
may lose them. Chopping down trees increases the amount of carbon dioxide released into the
atmosphere thus making our air quality worsen. The picture ad really impacts the reader by showing
the picture of a bare forest that symbolizes our lungs, creating a double meaning and more depth. This
issue is very important to our health and the world s. The Help us save the air we breathe
advertisement uses imagery to intensify their points about deforestation and puts this issue into
perspective, causing action to be taken.

The Theories Of Louise Rosenblatt s Reader Response Theory
Reader Response Theory The Reader Response Theory emerged as a reaction against the New
Criticism or formalistic approach, which focused on the text, finding all the meaning, the value in it
and regarding everything else as extraneous, including readers. Despite the ideas of the Reader
Response in the 1920 s, the late Louise Rosenblatt pioneered the Reader Response theory. She was a
literary theorist and an English Educator. In her writing, Literature as Exploration written in 1938, she
emphasizes that the readers play an important role in the life of any piece of literature. According to
Rosenblatt, A novel or a poem or a play remains merely ink spot on a paper until a reader transform
them into a set of meaningful symbols (1985, 25). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It allows for inferences and insights by the reader This means that when a reader reads some literary
texts it is the belief that it allows the individual to construct his/her own meaning. Once the reader is
able to interact with the text, he/she is able to explore and interpret it in a way in which his or her
cultural backgrounds is understood and that of others. Within a literary text, the reader is able to
understand why specific cultures do certain practices and how it places value on society. Furthermore,
it is through a text that individuals gain insight on what is morally acceptable to society and can be
able to link it through their experiences whether in their school environment and the community. This
insight may be gained not just by reading one book, but through various literary text in which they are
able to apply their critical thinking skills and construct their own understanding whether it may be
through a poem or story. However, not all similar books will be written the same way, for example,
Cinderella. There are many Cinderella books written with countless interpretation; however, readers
can be able to read all and find similarities such as it is wrong to treat people cruel or that the
stepmother is cruel. Despite that, a reader may have a stepmother who is a wonderful person yet he or
she can analyze and understand that not all stepmothers are cruel or not everyone will treat a person
wrongfully. In essence, the readers are able to become critical thinkers through the assimilation of a

The Impact Of Income Inequality On Economic Growth
LITERATURE REVIEW The impact of Income Inequality on Economic Growth: A Case study on
Nigeria Student Number: P14173106 Supervisor: Helen Solomon Module Leader: Helen Solomon
Date: 26th November 2016 Word Count: 1.0 Introduction According to Adam Smith (1776) in his
book the wealth of nations, no society can surely be flourishing and happy, of which the far greater
part of the members are poor and miserable . Economic growth and income inequality are central inter
related facets that explain current trend in global issues. Oxfam (2016) suggested that 62 of the richest
people have the same wealth as the 3.6 billion poorest people. The rich continue to acquire wealth,
while the poor struggle for basic things required for survival like food, access to clean water and
shelter. The research question proposed is: Does income inequality have an impact on economic
growth? . This chapter highlights the key concepts and notions which underlie the subject matter of
the study in order to provide an ideal frame for understanding the relationship between income
inequality and economic growth and answering the research question. It will also look at previous
empirical studies carried out by other researchers in this field and identify gaps in the existing
literature. 2.0 Theoretical Framework and Empirical Evidence Inequality is generally referred to unfair
distribution of resource among individuals. Inequality can vary from income, health, gender and
wealth.

Hope In Robert O Brien s Z For Zachariah
Robert O Brien s Z for Zachariah (1975) focuses on Ann Burden possibly the last woman on Earth.
The power of hope is effectively portrayed by foregrounding that with hope one can survive, yet
without it, simply surviving can be unbearable. The difference between Ann s life, when she dreams of
a happy future with Mr Loomis, contrasted with the despair she experiences once this hope has been
destroyed, clearly conveys this message.
Readers are positioned to recognise that Mr Loomis arrival to the valley allows Ann to hope for a
more positive future. The idea of marriage and children was now a real possibility now which made
Ann very happy. This is effectively illustrated when she stumbles across the Crabapple tree in full
bloom noting that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After Mr Loomis attacks Ann, the valley became very difficult and unbearable due to him destroying
Ann s trust. This is effectively illustrated when Ann preferred to live in a cage than stay in the same
house as she felt she was in danger (138). She could not forget the horror of that night, and she knew
that she would never trust him again. (146) The definite tone and high modality that Ann uses to
describe this scene knew..... could not,.... Would not demonstrated how Ann strongly felt that she
never wanted to and never could trust Loomis again. Not only did Mr Loomis attack destroy all of
Ann s trust in him but it also destroyed any hope of a future together aswel. Ann believed that at the
end Mr Loomis plan was a picture, and it was of her tied up like Faro in the house (148) which was
the total opposite of what Ann had hoped with Loomis in the future. By using a simile O Brien
compares Ann s future with Faro being tied to the house, which shows the danger that Ann is situated
in and positions readers to have a sense of unease.
O Brien highlights the importance of hope in Z for Zachariah by comparing the positive effect of it
when Mr Loomis first arrived to when he destroyed her hope. Although it Was written in 1975, this
novel shared many similarities with modern dystopian texts. For example, Divergents main
protagonist is an adolescent female who finds the strength to survive in a world ruled by corrupt
adults, much like Ann who survives despite misogynistic M Loomis. Furthermore, Tris and Ann are
both fiercely independent, determined, and brave young women whom function as worthy role models

What Is The Similarities Between Villa Mairea And Baker House
Harry and Mairea Gullichsen, the owners of this villa provided Aalto a chance to express his thoughts
of transformation from traditional to modern architecture. This villa is actually a mixture of timber
strips, brick wall and also rendered masonry. It is not only consist of the traditional Finnish vernacular
and modern design, but also the influence of the English and Japanese architecture. This can be seen
in the sauna of this villa, which is built with wooden walls and flat grass roof, just like a Japanese tea
house. (Richard Weston, 2004)
This building is designed in U shaped, surrounded an inner garden and also a kidney shaped
swimming pool. The modernism idea by Aalto is expressed through the design of an open plan. For

First of all, there are two similarities between Villa Mairea and Baker House. Designs related to nature
and landscape surrounding were never out of Aalto s consideration. For examples, the vertical tree like
columns and curved panels in the library of Villa Mairea and the direction of the rooms facing to the
Charles River of Baker House. In addition, the curve and undulating form always can be seen in Aalto
s works. The shape of the swimming pool and the fireplace represent the free form in Villa Mairea
while the shape of the whole building of Baker House is obviously showing the curving snake form.
Nonetheless, some of the design ideas in Villa Mairea are different from Baker House. For examples,
the transformation of the design style, from traditional to modern due to the request by the owner of
Villa Mairea, the open concept into the plan and also the transformation of materials which is the
change of the floor furnishing to make the villa more interesting. For Baker House, open concept
cannot fully be used as Aalto considered the privacy of students. The arrangement of the rooms is also
a challenge for Aalto because of the noisy location of this building and the aim to have maximum

Whistleblowing and Sarbanes Oxley Due

According to Halbert, Ingulli, Frey (2015), whistleblowers are people who decide to report unethical

private companies, nonprofit organizations, or for the government. A whistleblower is an individual
working in an organization who decides to expose the misconduct, misbehavior, or illegal actions

J.P. Morgan Chase Co. is a publicly traded company that has been in the news for whistleblowing in
the last 12 months. In March of 2014, the New York Federal Court awarded Keith Edwards, a former
employee of J.P. Morgan, $64 million dollars for his part in the Whistleblowing of a case that
defrauded the U.S. government. J.P. Morgan Chase Co., were submitting false claims to U.S.

Co. submitted thousands of mortgages for insurance by the Federal Housing Administration or the
Department of Veterans Affairs that did not qualify for government guarantees. J.P. Morgan admitted
to failing to report to agencies that their internal reviews revealed problems also.
During the year 2003 through 2008 Keith Edwards was the Assistant Vice President of a government

Edward De Vere
The authorship of all of Shakespeare s genius literature is the biggest detective story. It is one that has
brought curiosity to the world for centuries and is still very alive today. Has a man who had no
evidence that he had ever gone to school, composed brilliant pieces of literature known to all of
mankind? It is highly unlikely. There must have been someone else. Scholars are now speculating as
to whether Edward De Vere, 17th Earl of Oxford, is the true author of all of Shakespeare s
publications,
Edward De Vere was born in the Hedingham Castle. One of his tutors at the time was Laurence
Nowell, who owned a copy of Beowulf. In 1558, Edward De Vere attended Cambridge and Oxford
University in 1566. Another tutor of his was Queen Elizabeth s ... Show more content on

However, William Shakespeare never claimed the publications. Neither did Edward De Vere, but that
was because he would be looked down upon.
I have read many of the reasons as to why the 17th Earl of Oxford depicts a better candidate for these
writings. The same has been done for William Shakespeare. It isn t likely that a person who is
uneducated and without experience, to write literature with as much intellect as they all contain.
Edward De Vere was a graduate at the age of 14. A man with that much genius must have published
something in his life. It would ve been a shame if he hadn t.
I think it is as clear as day for people to see why Edward De Vere was the author of all Shakespeare s
literature. He was experienced and intelligent. He traveled to places in which Shakespeare s plays take
place and he had an abundance amount of knowledge about the lives of those living with a high status.
Experts state that many of the publications can be matched to a certain event in Edward De Vere s

Essay about How Pixar Fosters Collective Creativity
● Pixar relies heavily on intrinsic motivation to motivate and inspire its employees, which is
particularly important given the poor measurability of success before the film is released. It achieves
high levels of intrinsic motivation through:
○ Meaningfulness Skill variety is increased through Pixar University. By allowing staff to participate
in the production discussions, it leads to task identity of their contribution to the whole project.
○ Responsibility Autonomy is high: Incubation teams are responsible for operational decisions, while
the brain trust only gives suggestions. Decentralization achieves increased individual autonomy,

(2) (a) We disagree with Catmull s conclusion in the above quote. We believe it is an
overgeneralization and exemplifies the Fundamental Attribution Error.
While team dynamics and cohesion play a great role in the success of any team, we believe that
external factors (situation, system) can profoundly affect behavior and performance. The importance
of creating an environment that supports great people and encourages them to support one another so
the whole is far greater than the sum of the parts is undermined by this statement. Even a great team
can t be guaranteed to fix a mediocre idea or come up with good ones every time. The
system/environment have a big role in the success of a team.
(b) While we don t agree that Catmull s statement applies to all systems, we agree with his thought
process. In hindsight, he observed that both teams were operating in the same external

environment and one team was able to thrive better than the other in the same environment. During
the production of Toy Story 2, he noticed that the new team was not performing well, failing to meet
deadlines, and not improving. The directors and producers were not pulling together to rise to the
challenge. Even though the individuals in the team were stars, the team was not working together in an

Reflection On Solidarity Versus Charity
After having been in your domestic/ national/international field placement, what is your perspective
on solidarity versus charity? Provide examples from your experience. When I think of solidarity and
charity, they both appear very similar and there is no black and white answer. However, when I think
of charity, I always think of giving to those who have less than you. It is this idea that you may have
authority or higher power over someone less fortunate. When volunteering for a charity, there is this
idea that anything a volunteer does will be helpful. An example of charity to me, would be donating
cloths to a shelter. From experience, interning at a shelter, people would always donate clothes. As this
was necessary and helpful, at one point we were unable to accept any more clothing donations because
we had too much. I think when people donate clothes, they automatically think they are contributing
to the charity, following the idea that by doing that they helped the agency out.
Solidarity on the other hand is a more personal approach to helping others. To me solidarity is when
an individual truly works with others to identify what it is that they need or want, not just assuming
that whichever service they provide will be helpful. I believe that solidarity takes more of an equality
and empowering approach, which leads to working more collaboratively with individuals. I think an
example of solidarity for me, would be my last year s internship at the domestic violence

The Weather Of Panama City Beach
The weather in Panama City Beach, Florida, is beautiful in June. Though the twelve hour trip down
there seemed very long and boring, the trip was ultimately worth it. There are a lot of interesting
things to do in Panama City Beach, Florida. The first thing that we did when we finally got there, was
to check into the hotel and take our stuff to the room, which was on the first floor facing the beach. It
had three rooms. One had the kitchenette, a couch, and a bed with a TV mounted on the wall across
from it. The second room had two beds and a TV mounted on the opposite wall. In between the two
rooms was the bathroom. After we finished looking around the rooms, we went out to the white sand
beach through the sliding glass doors in the first room to watch the sunset. The colors of the sunset
against the light green water were amazing. The reds, oranges, and yellows seemed more vibrant next
to the color of that water. It made me wonder why people don t just stay on the beach for the rest of
their lives. I knew that I would have happily stayed there forever just to see sunsets like that every
night for the rest of my life. We stayed on the beach until the sun was completely gone and the sky
was dark. After the beach was completely dark and quiet, we headed back to the hotel. The hotel had
many things to do inside. The first thing we did when we got back inside was go to the front desk to
see all the activities that they had at our hotel. We decided that we wanted to do the

Introduction:
In this Lab report we will be using Red Cabbage extract as an indicator to determine the pH of
substances. The purpose of this experiment is to see if and how base and acids react. Indicators are
chemicals that change color depending on the pH solution that they are dissolved in. This experiment
will determine which items we use to determine ph. The pH of a solution indicates its acidity or
alkalinity. There is a ph. scale that determines if the items such as lemons or bleach are an acid or a
base. I have chosen to use red cabbage in this experiment so that I can know the range of the item that

Ocean Acidification And Its Effects On The Environment Essay
Unmistakable people are familiar with the probability that looks reefs to submerged rainforests. Coral
reefs orchestrate the most biodiverse living spaces in the ocean, and their closeness is crucial to the
survival of a clearing number of other marine species an awe inspiring piece of which we rely on upon
for support. To understand carbon developing in ocean water we need to appreciate the carbon
condition. Right when CO2 segregates in seawater to go on watery CO2 (CO2(aq)) it moreover shapes

Robert E. Lee s Life During The Civil War
The Civil War was not only a time of regional tension, but of personal tension, especially for
Confederate army leaders. The constant pressure from needing to defend and protect Southern
independence contributed to the rise of anxiety and stress related medical disorders. Robert E. Lee, a
brilliant Confederate general and skilled tactician, was such a case. General Lee s health during his pre
Civil War years was without blemish. However, with the beginning of the Civil War, Lee s health
experienced noticeable decline. Later in his life, doctors diagnosed Lee with pericarditis, but more
modern clinical evaluations of Robert E Lee s symptoms conclude that his condition was more likely
attributed to stress induced ischemic heart disease (Mainwaring Tribble 244). Lee s condition was
accelerated by the wartime stress and contraction of malaria in 1863, leading to pains on the battlefield
which impaired strategical judgment. Robert E. Lee s first year as commander was impressive in
military accomplishments, but his confidence was shaken after a devastating loss in the family. The
general assumed his command of the Army of Northern Virginia in May of 1862 after the Battle of
Seven Pines wounded Joseph Johnson. Lee was 54 years old at the time and led the Confederates at 3
major battles that year Battle of Seven Days, Second Bull Run, and Antietam. The Battle of Seven
Days began on June 25 and lasted until July 1. The overall outcome of the conflict was that the Union

Epidemiology, Assessment, and Presentation of an Elderly...
As technology advances and medical aid becomes readily available it is no wonder that the elderly
within our communities are living longer. Unfortunately this poses a serious issue for health
professionals as elderly are becoming more prevalently injured, presenting with complications of
higher severity than their younger counterparts (Ng et al., 2002). This essay will discuss the
epidemiology, assessment and presentation of an elderly patient suffering from a traumatic injury. It
will also examine the considerations specific to the elderly in terms of management, and ethical and
cultural differences. As we grow older our susceptibility to a traumatic incident increases dramatically

Also their ability to compensate is short lived, with each year increase in age from 65 years resulting
is a 6% increase in likelihood of death from injury (O Neill, Brady, Kerssens, Parks, 2012). When it
comes to the elderly patient there are three particular challenges that all health professionals should
take into consideration; co morbidities, polypharmacy and blunted compensatory mechanisms
(PHTLS, 2011). Co morbidities are important to consider as an existing medical condition may alter
the vital signs you measure. Polypharmacy is particularly important especially if the medications the
patient is on could render them unable to compensate appropriately or if you need to administer other
medication/fluids. Lastly and possibly most important in trauma is blunted compensatory mechanisms.
The elderly are unable to compensate in the way adults are able to which makes them vulnerable when
injured (PHTLS, 2011). They do not react the way in which you would expect, meaning you should
take extra care when dealing the elderly as their condition can be extremely unpredictable. Any trauma
incident begins with an assessment of the scene and determination of the degree of severity of the
situation at hand. In RTC this is of great importance as the higher the speed the vehicles were
travelling at, the worse condition the patient could be in. Upon greeting the patient it is important to
put them at ease and explain your assessment as you go. It is common

Smartphones Are Destroying The New Generation Essay
Smartphones Are Destroying the New Generation Children who have been born since 1995 have
never known a world without smartphones and a constant social media connection. Theirs is a
generation shaped by the smartphone and by the concomitant rise of social media (Twenge).
Smartphones have caused rapid shifts in the latest generation, affecting happiness levels, mental
health, social development, and academic performance; therefore, parents need to recognize the
negative impact and reduce the accessibility. Big Changes Compared to Previous Generations A study
that analyzed generational data since 1930 saw abrupt shifts around 2012, especially regarding teen
emotional states and behaviors. There was a disappearance of significant distinctive characteristics of
the Millennials (Twenge). Millennials are a highly individualistic generation (Twenge), even more so
than previous generations. However, suddenly, in the current generation, the allure of independence,
so powerful to previous generations, holds less sway over today s teens (Twenge). They don t leave
the house much without their parents; in fact, 12th graders in 2015 went out less than 8th graders in
2009. Today, teens are radically different from Millennials in their views and time usage (Twenge).

lose about 20 pounds. I sang along to most of his songs, but what really made me mad is that he sang
his less known songs last. It was disappointing, I had a fun time with other friends though. The fair is
always fun with friends, but not when Lee Brice sucks.

Hurricane Katrina Problems
Natural disasters are devastating and affect everyone where they hit, but they particularly affect racial
minorities and those who fall below the poverty line. Without resources or money to rebuild, the
impoverished and minorities are forced to figure out their own plan to recover from the natural
disaster. Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans, Louisiana and caused a myriad of issues with its
residents. Some of the problems the impoverished and minorities faced were: evacuating New
Orleans, homelessness, rebuilding, and unjust treatment from the government. Natural disasters,
specifically Hurricane Katrina, cause a socioeconomic dichotomy between the lower class and the
upper and leave the population in a state of pandemonium, and trying to figure out ways to recover.
Before the Storm In 2005, Hurricane Katrina devastated the city of New Orleans in Louisiana. Most of
the city s population suffered some sort of loss whether it was a fatality, loss of property, or a lack of
resources or money to rebuild. However, each social class and race did not suffer the same losses; the
underprivileged and racial minorities suffered much greater losses than those who had the resources or
money to evacuate (Bates 5). The evacuation system set in place by the Louisiana government was
almost nonexistent. The plan was for the population of New Orleans to try evacuating the city before
Katrina hit. The upper class had the money and means of transportation to leave the city and enter

Cheryl Crazy Bull Research Paper
On April 11, 2003 Cheryl Crazy Bull was inaugurated as the new president of Northwest Indian
College. The inauguration was attended by local community leaders as well as college leaders from
schools such as Western Washington University. Not only was Crazy Bull inaugurated to her
leadership position, she was also adopted by the Lummi people in a tribal ceremony led by James and
Lutie Hillaire, who robed her in a traditional Coast Salish blanket and sang songs to bless the
upcoming role Crazy Bull would play. From the beginning, Crazy Bull hoped to focus on
incorporating school and community life stating, As president of Northwest Indian College, I believe
my responsibility is to ensure that there is a strong link between the college experiences of ... Show

Under Cheryl Crazy Bull s presidency, NWIC has written more grants, raised more private funds,
expanded the student body population, and worked out kinks in the school system to make the entire
operation run more smoothly. Crazy Bull has also overseen the expansion of degree programs at the
school. In 2007 the school gained candidacy for its four year environmental degree program in Native
Environmental Science. According to Cheryl Crazy Bull, Native people have incredible scientific and
environmental knowledge to share while exposing our students to the tools and resources of Western
science. The school has also recently added a program in slot machine servicing as well as classes in
gaming laws and regulations. In addition to new programs, the school has hosted numerous important
conferences. In May 2007 the school hosted the Revitalization Salish and Neighboring Language
Conference, the first conference for Native Language teachers from across the Pacific Northwest.
These conferences help foster Crazy Bull s dream of working closely with the community and creating
a future Coast Salish Institute which would

Bo Knows Bo Cultural Differences
There are many similarities and differences between cultures, but I am comparing my culture and the
culture in the book Bo Knows Bo . I am a white Male that was born in the state of South Dakota. I was
born into a privileged life with a future ahead of me. Bo is a black male that was born in Bessemer
Alabama; however, he was not born into a privileged family. Nobody knew if Bo would have a future,
or if he was going to be alive at the age of twenty. Bo did not always have food on the table because
his family struggled to make ends meet. The environment that Bo grew up in made him a troublesome
kid. Everyday Bo would threaten kids and hurt kids because they did not do what he wanted them to,
and that is because of the environment he had to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This quote says that it should be a requirement for athletes to give back and help the community
where they came from. I think that this is similar in both my culture and the culture in the book
because most people want and need to help out and give back. I often hear how athletes are going to
hospitals and making kids smile. I also hear how they are donating money for the community. J.J Watt,
an athlete of my culture, raised thirty seven million dollars for Hurricane Harvey relief. James Harden,
an athlete of the culture described in the book, donated one million dollars to helpful Hurricane
Harvey Relief. Athletes in both cultures give back, so shouldn t it be an expectation for every athlete
to give back. They have already succeeded, so they should try to make their communities better to
give others a better chance to make the world a better

Carlisle tends to pick people who are already dying. Edward was the first person to join his family.
Edward continues to explain how Carlisle adopted each Cullen family member. The characters were
more discussed in the earlier paragraphs. Within the next couple days Bella was invited to meet
Edward s family. Edward picks up Bella and they go into the forest to play some baseball. She quickly
learns the only time they are allowed to play baseball is when it is lightening out because that is how
loud and hard they hit the ball. Shortly into the game, Alice realizes the other vampires hear them
playing. Edward knows they do not have enough time to run away so they decide to wait it out. Two
male vampires and one female vampire show up to ask if they can play in the baseball game. Carlisle
politely tells they are just about done but more then welcome to come back to their

The Role Of Rape In Laurie Halse Anderson s Speak
In Speak, Laurie Halse Anderson utilizes mirrors to provide the readers with insight into the mind of
the protagonist, Melinda Sordino, an isolated and lonely high school freshmen with the weight of what
happened to her at a party over the summer break. Prior to the party, Melinda was not extremely
popular, but she had a core group of friends. Her assault changed all of that. According to a report in
the late 1990 s, the number of incidents of date rape has slowly declined. In the 1990s, the time period
for Anderson s novel, 1.1 million women reported intimate violence in 1993 as compared with
900,000 female victims in 1998 (Constantakis 262). Although the incident of rape is not uncommon
and fortunately declining, it is still a taboo ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Melinda notices that while in the car, Heather s mom is watching her and she feels judged. She then
tries to hide herself from Heather s mom, but continues to look at her own reflection and comes to the
conclusion that The scabs on [her] lips are especially gross in that little rectangle mirror proving that
she is slowly deteriorating inside and out following her rape (Anderson 82). Throughout the novel, she
constantly bites her lips as a nervous tick and they are always bloody and scabbed. She is aware of this
and how disgusting they look but cannot stop, therefore it contributes to self destruction of her body
along with her mind. In another section of the book Melinda is scrutinizing the image that stares back
at her in the mirror and she push[es] her ragged mouth against the mirror. A thousand bleeding crusted
lips push back (125). Her lips are becoming irritated along with her mind. The thoughts she has about
herself are twisted and always negative. She is destroying herself mentally which ultimately results in
the adaptation of low self esteem. Hart writes that, she has little protection between her outer and inner
self proving that her thoughts are uncontrolled and lead to impulse habits that physically destroy her
(Hart 264). Melinda is breaking apart, yet no one notices the subtle changes in her body that are the
consequences of her self

Calypso Song Analysis
The 1940 s was a time of conflict, despair, and hope to everyone who was involved in war of the
giants. World War II, as the name states was a conflict on a global scale, with a plethora of nations
involved. In addition, many of those nations created pacts of alliances with each other that only
complicated the fighting. One of the nations that was involved was the country of Trinidad and
Tobago, as a key collaborator with Allies against the Axis of Powers, it provided the area for two US
bases (The Roaring Lion). Furthermore, it provided support during the conflict of the Atlantic. During
this time the Trinidad and Tobago culture became a receiver of many different inputs, in the matters of
all aspects. These new inputs of influences forged the music culture of calypso, the voice of the people
in the form of song. Through calypso melodies, the people of Trinidad and Tobago started to tell their
views of the world events, and during this time the major event was WWII. By analyzing the lyrics of
the Trinidad song that was made in 1943, it can be determined what the current events were at the time
and the political opinions of the native people, which was the changing view on the soviet forces of in
the war.
The lyrics of this calypso song talk about the successful war campaigning of Russia, and as the result
of its movement how the view on the country has changed. These lyrics can be translated as the
historical point in the war, as the in the year 1943 the Russian forces

I agree with his statement; fast foods and frozen foods are slowly killing people s taste buds. Fast and frozen foods leaves our taste buds blind towards true flavor of homemade meals. People need to stop eating foods that are not freshly cooked, and they should start eating foods that are freshly made with rich seasonings. The problem is that people do not take the time to realize that fast and frozen foods are causing them to become blind to the taste of cooked traditional homemade dinners. Americans have to wake up, open their eyes, and spend more time making homemade foods to enjoy the true meaning of flavor. • 7. Troy In Clemence Mclaren s Inside The Walls Of Troy There are many notable retellings of the story of Troy that focus on the perspectives of minor characters, rather than the central characters commonly known in the Iliad, the great warriors Achilles and Hector. The novel Inside the Walls of Troy by Clemence McLaren does just this by featuring the perspectives of Helen of Sparta, the beloved of Paris, and Cassandra of Troy, the daughter of King Priam for different periods of time before, throughout, and after the end of the war. The author, a modern era female writer, focuses the text s aims and attentions to other modern females, albeit young adults. Due to this specific genre, McLaren s retelling must fulfill certain expectations, such as relaying the story of Troy in an interesting enough manner as to hold the audience s attention and incorporating strong female protagonists the audience can not only relate to, but identify with. To do this, the original epic, the Iliad, wholly from the perspective of battle hardened men and a complex, tedious read must be transformed to simple language that resonates with young, female readers of a contemporary society, while still imparting the significant insights of the original text. McLaren s retelling of the Iliad comprises of many events and character traits that allow the audience to engage with and appreciate the story of Troy in a way that the original version does not allow for, such as: Cassandra s attribute as a prophetess and narrator, Helen s childhood narrative, Polyxena s retrieval of Hector s body, and lastly, Helenus s character as a male character who recognizes women to be the equals of men. Cassandra narrates the second half of McLaren s novel, but more importantly, is given the attribute of a prophetess. This is a stark contrast to her character in the Iliad who is mentioned only twice, once as a commodity, a wife to be won, and the other as an entity not belonging to herself, but as the sister of Hector who wails and laments upon the death of her dear brother. Firstly, by making her a prophetess, McLaren not only makes Cassandra a complex character, but gives her agency, as she is able to use her prophetic abilities for good by warning those who would listen of the destruction Helen s arrival to ... While team dynamics and cohesion play a great role in the success of any team, we believe that external factors (situation, system) can profoundly affect behavior and performance. The importance of creating an environment that supports great people and encourages them to support one another so the whole is far greater than the sum of the parts is undermined by this statement. • 25. Reflection On Solidarity Versus Charity After having been in your domestic/ national/international field placement, what is your perspective on solidarity versus charity? Provide examples from your experience. When I think of solidarity and charity, they both appear very similar and there is no black and white answer. However, when I think of charity, I always think of giving to those who have less than you. It is this idea that you may have authority or higher power over someone less fortunate. When volunteering for a charity, there is this idea that anything a volunteer does will be helpful. An example of charity to me, would be donating cloths to a shelter. From experience, interning at a shelter, people would always donate clothes. As this was necessary and helpful, at one point we were unable to accept any more clothing donations because we had too much. I think when people donate clothes, they automatically think they are contributing to the charity, following the idea that by doing that they helped the agency out. Solidarity on the other hand is a more personal approach to helping others. To me solidarity is when an individual truly works with others to identify what it is that they need or want, not just assuming that whichever service they provide will be helpful. I believe that solidarity takes more of an equality and empowering approach, which leads to working more collaboratively with individuals. I think an example of solidarity for me, would be my last year s internship at the domestic violence ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, with the beginning of the Civil War, Lee s health experienced noticeable decline. Co morbidities are important to consider as an existing medical condition may alter the vital signs you measure. Polypharmacy is particularly important especially if the medications the patient is on could render them unable to compensate appropriately or if you need to administer other medication/fluids. Lastly and possibly most important in trauma is blunted compensatory mechanisms. The elderly are unable to compensate in the way adults are able to which makes them vulnerable when injured (PHTLS, 2011). I sang along to most of his songs, but what really made me mad is that he sang his less known songs last. It was disappointing, I had a fun time with other friends though. The fair is always fun with friends, but not when Lee Brice sucks. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This quote says that it should be a requirement for athletes to give back and help the community where they came from. I think that this is similar in both my culture and the culture in the book because most people want and need to help out and give back. I often hear how athletes are going to hospitals and making kids smile. I also hear how they are donating money for the community. J.J Watt, an athlete of my culture, raised thirty seven million dollars for Hurricane Harvey relief. James Harden, an athlete of the culture described in the book, donated one million dollars to helpful Hurricane Harvey Relief. Athletes in both cultures give back, so shouldn t it be an expectation for every athlete to give back. They have already succeeded, so they should try to make their communities better to give others a better chance to make the world a better ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
