Britannia Macmillian Analysis
Britannia
James Macmillian is a modern Scottish composer who tends to write in a minimalist style. This piece
was composed in 1994 as part of a commission from British Telecommunications and was premiered
in the same year. Macmillian s works tend to be based off of his Scottish heritage, his Christian faith,
or other political motivations. Britannia is one of Macmillian s more well known pieces that has gotten
him to become one of the United Kingdom s most prestigious composers that is currently alive. This
piece is largely based on patriotic tunes and other popular melodies that the audience would be well
aware of. Some of the pieces quoted in this work include Elgar s Cockaigne Overture, a few Celtic
reels, Knees Up, Mother Brown and God ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Copland was one of the most well known American composers of the 20th century if not the most well
known. Much of Copland s music is very accessible to the average listener and is something that most
people can understand and connect with the themes present in the music. Almost everyone has heard
of a tune that Copland composed even if they don t know that he is the one who wrote it. One of these
Copland pieces that many people know is Appalachian Spring. Copland was commissioned to write
the score for a ballet with an American theme in 1943 which later became Appalachian Spring. The
piece was originally written for a thirteen piece chamber orchestra before being adapted for the entire
symphony orchestra. The ballet was premiered in 1945 with dancer Martha Graham in the lead role.
The orchestral suite version of the piece was completed in 1945 and premiered by the Boston
Symphony Orchestra that year. Copland was later asked to rescore the piece to include the entire
orchestra and that was completed 1954. The full orchestral version is one of Copland s most famous
pieces and one of the pieces that made him as popular as he was. The title of the piece was actually
suggested to him by Martha Graham who got the idea from a Hart Crane poem called The Dance. The
poem goes as

Chicago the Musical
Chicago
Launched in 1975, the musical Chicago, created by a talented pair of composers and producers that
included both John Kander and Fred Ebb later known as Kander and Ebb. Kander was born on March
18, 1927 in Kansas City, Missouri. His exposure to music began at an early age as a result of having
had tuberculosis as a baby. During this time, Kander was cut off and not allowed to be around other
people, that separation developed his ability for sound. Kander started piano lessons at the age of six.
His parents and brother would often spend evenings playing the piano and singing. Kander s first
successes came while he was a student at Oberlin College, where he attended with James Goldman, a

The show was Velma s and her sister s act before Velma killed her sister. Roxie turns Velma down
only then to find out that someone else had committed a crime. Roxie s only chance at fame again was
to pretend to faint and to pretend that she is pregnant, thus concluding Act 1. ( Full Script Lyrics )
The symbolism in the first act shows how corrupt Chicago law enforcement can be and how easily the
media can be persuaded by giving lies to the public. The play is trying to tell the reader that in this
time of day, the media and the common people are so easily brainwashed by current events that the
media will praise criminals, this even happens in the media today.
Act 2 starts with Amos finding out about Roxie s pregnancy, but while he is calling out for attention to
let everyone know that he is the dad, no one notices him like he is invisible. After Roxie returns back
to prison with all of the attention on her, she has a huge argument with Billy because Roxie thinks that
she is calling all the shots now because she came up with the idea of being pregnant to get her back on
the publicity train. Roxie then fires Billy thinking she can do everything on her own, later to realize
that a woman was executed without a lawyer. Roxie then freaks out and calls Billy to have him be her
lawyer again. When the trial date comes, Billy tells Roxie that if she puts on a show she will be fine.
During court Roxie acts innocent while Billy does all the talking. The judge proclaims

Greek Influence On Hollywood
The Paramount decision and the Hollywood black list forever altered the direction of American film
making standards. Before the Paramount decision, major Hollywood studios owned a monopoly on
the movie industry. They bought their own movie theaters and hawked only their movies and also
forced movie stars into highly restrictive contracts. The Hollywood blacklistk, on the other hand, was
a time in history when the American Government focused on Hollywood to make sure they weren t
pushing a communist agenda on the public. They scrutinized many actors and directors and black
listed them from working in Hollywood. These events made a large change in the way movies were
produced and made the people of Hollywood question their rights as movie makers. The Paramount
decision was a supreme court ruling in 1948 against the major film studios in Hollywood. The studios
were Loew s incorporated, Fox, RKO, Paramount Pictures, and Warner Brothers, also called The big 5
. The court ruled for the elimination of block booking and blind buying. Block booking meant that a
studio would sell its films in packages on an all or nothing basis, usually theaters had to buy several ...

HUAC whether or not they were communists. They found HUAC s questions to be infringing on their

The History of Art at Iowa State University Essay
Have you ever been to Iowa State University and seen all of the magnificent art that is located on
campus? Iowa State is home to one of the largest campus public art collections in the United States.
There are over 2,000 works of public art (George Washington Carver). The foundation of the
contemporary Art on Campus Collection and Program began during the Depression in the 1930s,
when Iowa State s President Hughes envisioned that, The arts would enrich and provide substantial
intellectual exploration into our college curricula (George Washington Carver). Who doesn t love art?

We live in a world where there is lots of judging and I believe people may not even give some art
pieces a chance. In the 1940s, Christian Petersen sculpted a plaster figure of George Washington
Carver. According to an article from Iowa State Museums, This is one of the few free standing, full
length sculptures that Petersen ever made (George Washington Carver). He sculpted Carver as an old
man holding a single peanut in his hands. Petersen s intentions were to emphasize Carver s vision for
the future of agriculture (George Washington Carver). George Washington Carver was the first African
American to attend Iowa State, and I personally didn t know this until I saw the sculpture located near
Carver Hall. Art has its meanings, even if sometimes you aren t looking for them. A quote from
George Washington Carver shows how much he cared for this blessed university, I have no words to
adequately express my impressions of dear old I.S.C. (Iowa State College). All I am and all I hope to
be, I owe in a very large measure to this blessed institution (Mark Bagley). When this sculpture was
first created Petersen wasn t able to cast this sculpture in bronze because the cost was too much
money, so he painted the work of art to resemble bronze. The sculpture was originally put inside
Carver Hall on the first floor lobby (George Washington Carver). If this was put outside it would have
just got ruined by the weather, since the snow and cold could

Example Of Dehumanization In Colonial History
Dehumanization in History and Historical Fiction In the past, when slavery was common throughout
the colonies of America, the slaves were obviously not treated with the upmost respect. They were not
treated as people, but more as domesticated animals whose sole purpose was to serve their master. The
exact definition of dehumanization is to deprive someone of human traits or qualities. The television
series Roots focused on Kunta Kinte, a native African who was captured and sold into slavery.
Examples of dehumanization are shown throughout the series and how it effects Kunta, the other
enslaved Africans, and what role it played in the slave trade itself. The harsh dehumanization
represented in the show proved to be a very controversial and ... Show more content on

No slave was respected or treated the same way as their masters were. For instance, Fiddler was a
slave of a particular high status but Mr. Reynolds still made him perform the same chores as the
others. He may have had better arrangements such as food from the actual kitchen and a bed to sleep
on, but he would never be and could never be thought of as someone on the same level of his master.
For enslaved women, the treatment was even worse. They were passed around and chosen by men as
if they were simply items in a store. Usually, if a man noticed an enslaved woman and took particular
interest in her, she would be delivered to him so he could do whatever he pleased with her (just as
someone would do if they found a certain product they liked). This act was extremely violating and
the fact that the woman had no choice in the matter and had to comply or face punishment made it
worse. These violations are emotionally damaging to the woman as shown by the grief and shame
expressed by a woman from Kunta s tribe when she tells him she is no longer a maiden of the
Mandinka . The enslaved people of the time were treated no better than a piece of meat. They were
stripped of their basic human rights and handled as if they were nothing more than

Pontius Pilate Influence On Jesus Plate
Pontius Pilate was a Roman governor who overlooked Judea. To me, he was made out to seem like a
weak leader in the gospels, however in all actuality, he was a harsh and strong governor. He could
arguably be considered the single man who changed history as we know it. The gospels do not explain
much about Pilate and his background. The only time he was really introduced was during the trial of
Jesus. He was acknowledged a few times to show he was the one who followed through with the
crucifixion, and then he ceased to be brought back up again. However, the book Pontius Pilate by Paul
L. Maier thoroughly and adequately illustrates Pilate s life before and after the life changing verdict.
This was a fascinating read that really captivated my interest. It was long and at times hard to follow,
but I was extremely intrigued with the eccentric details that Maier provided. ... Show more content on

I never understood how serious the division was but Pontius Pilate helped inform me of the
magnitude. There was serious tension since Pilate was governor over Jews and that ultimately affected
his decisions. He went so far as to use Jesus being on trial as a way to manipulate the Jews to admit
they had no king but Caeser. This was a confidence booster for Pilate because it reaffirmed his
authority of Rome. Not surprisingly, he didn t stop there. Pilate made sure the Jews felt guilty about
the crucifixion. It was said that Pilate washed his hands clean of Jesus blood. After, the Jews replied
by saying, His blood be on us and on our children (238). Pilate operated the whole production so the
blame would be focused on the Jews and not him. I was very shocked to see such evil works from a
man. I didn t know how intense the rivalry between the Jews and Gentiles were, but it was clearly big
enough for Pilate to influence a trial, Jesus trial, for his own selfish,

The Age Of The Robot Warrior Machine
The age of the robot warrior machine is looming, and it will represent monumental changes in the
future conduct of war. Increased precision and decreased risk make the automation of warriors
politically and militarily attractive. Government and military leaders will have to address the
numerous moral and ethical questions about when, where and how to utilize these lifeless soldiers. To
answer similar questions in the past, many leaders relied on the military theory from the Prussian
theorist Carl Von Clausewitz book On War . Even though his theories have proven helpful in the past,
can the ideas written in the 1800 s, truly be useful when applied to such drastic changes in the future
conduct of war?
Clausewitz military genius is immutable. Even though his writings are almost two hundred years old,
the application of Carl Von Clausewitz theories on war are relevant for today and in the future.
Technological advancements will present unique challenges, but as long as the true nature of war
remains unaffected, his paradoxical trinity will continue to provide visionary insight and value to
future leaders attempting to address wars most difficult questions. The distinction between absolute
vs. real war and his theories on the relationship between war and politics, and the concept of friction
remain timeless. What we are really dealing with is another change in the character of war which
Clausewitz has helped leaders deal with in the past and will again in the future.

Job Experience Essay
Nearly seven years ago, when I started working for the local DirecTV installation company, it wasn t
exactly a dream come true. I had the aptitude for it, having worked previously as a home theatre
installer back in Kansas City, but this job was much easier by comparison. What made this job less
than desirable were the hot attics, damp crawlspaces where I wasn t always the only thing crawling
around and the loose eaves near ideal dish mounting locations that were often home to swarms of
hornets.
Less than a week into the job I was offered a promotion of sorts. They needed inspectors to verify that
things were done correctly at several installation locations each week and they wanted someone who

The best part of this situation for me was the pay. I was making $12.50 per inspection. That s over
$1500 per week! Despite the great pay, I had been unemployed for nearly a month before starting this
job and because of tool costs to get started hadn t taken home much during my first week as an
installer. The first paycheck I received had an error in it. I was told by my Manager at the Paducah
Office to call the corporate office and talk to payroll directly and they would handle it. I regularly
heard new employees being told, Call payroll and ask for an advance , not just due to pay errors, but
also to cover the startup costs of tools and ladders. This advice would soon lead to disaster.
For the first time in several months I was going to Atlanta, Georgia to visit my daughter for the
weekend. I had received one puny paycheck and one nice one, but had spent everything to get caught
up on bills that had accumulated during my unemployment. So, I did what experience and observation
had taught me to do, I called payroll and asked for a relatively small advance to cover my weekend
trip. Without incident a check showed up at the office the next day and my wife and I were off for a
fun weekend with my daughter. It wasn t until late the next week that all hell began to break loose.

Amontillado Symbolism
While reading the story The Cask of Amontillado, many literary themes came to mind: truth vs deciet,
manipulation, the downfalls of greed and pride, vulnerabilty, and vengence. Michael Lewis s analysis
of the story however, brought up a major point that I hadn t considered. In his article, Lewis discusses
the possibility that Poe used the amontillado symbollically and delves into potential hidden or duel
meanings. Before analyzing The Cask of Amontillado himslef, Lewis acknowledged fellow writer
Bruce Kirkham s references to Poe s affinity for word play and idea that Poe had chosen amontillado
specifically for its associations with the Italian word for sum or amount . He explains Kirkham s view
that this relates to the idea of Montresor ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From this point of view, as Lewis points out, one can easily relate Fortunato s drunken artifical
sweetness to that of imitation amontillado. Montresor s disgust with Fortunato would then mirror
Fortunato s disgust with imposter alcohols. Upon further analysis however, Lewis suggests the
possibility that it is actually Fortunato s lack of a protective layer , or fleur in terms of amontillado,
rather than his spurious nature, that offends Montresor. Using this idea as a basis for thought, Lewis
expands the correlations between amontillado and the characters relationships and actions to include
the alcohol cask and Fortunato s casket, both containing extra space; the failure of either Fortunato or
poor sherry to become properly refined; the fool who cannot distinguish Sherry from Amontillado and
the fool Fortunato himself proved to be in his oblivion to his plight. Additionally Lewis points out that
Fortunato s alcoholism may have caused both this oblivion and the injuries he had placed on
Montressor in the past. In this case, Montresor would have succeeded at exploiting the very weakness
in Fortunato that had caused the damage for which he saught

Magical Realism in Gabriel Garcia s A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings
A Very old Man with Enormous Wings (1955) is a short story by Garbriel Garcia Marquez, a Latin
American author. This story contains many elements of Magical Realism, such as having one fantastic
element while being reality based, having a deeper meaning, and having no need to justify or explain
events or human actions.
The magical elements in this story are the old man (that is assumed to be an angel) and the girl who
was turned into a spider because she disobeyed her parents. The angel is the element in Magical
Realism that discovers the mysterious parts in life. Most people believe in supernatural beings like
angels. Angels are usually thought of as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It shows how one would normally react to something different and strange.
The character s reactions differ. The parents, Peylo and Elisenda were afraid and upset when they saw
the old angel. They assumed he was coming to take their baby since it had been sick. The crowd s
reaction was complete curiosity. They never doubted that the man was not an angel, but they did want
to see him for themselves. No one questioned the way that the angel was being treated by the crowd or
Peylo and Elisenda, either. As a matter of fact, the wise neighbor wanted Peylo and Elisenda to club
him to death.
The author, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, write with the attitude that it would be perfectly normal to be
walking back towards one s house after getting rid of some crabs and seeing an angel. He did offer
some explanation to the sudden appearance of the angel. The explanation was that the angel was
coming to get the baby but the hard rains knocked him down into the mud.
The problem that was caused by the angel s appearance was that the crowds overwhelmed the area
where he was staying. Because they were nosy and pushy, there was more mistreatment in store for
him. At one point in the story, the crowd threw stones at him, threw food at him, plucked out his
feathers, and burned his side with an iron for branding steers (527). At the end of the story, Elisenda

The British And The American Colonies
History 2.1
What Lead to the Fractured Relationship Between the British and the American Colonies Prior to the
Boston Massacre?
Following Britain s success in the Seven Years War and the signing of a Peace with France in 1763
Britain gained control of all territory east of the Mississippi in North America. From all of this there
was a cost; the war left Britain with large military expenses debts and additional expenses of an
enlarged empire. At an attempt to solve this problem, the politicians in Britain decided to exploit the
colonial tax revenues in order to pay off the debts and increased expenses.
Britain began to tighten control in the colonies in 1763 by stooping migration of settlers westward,
this had resulted in expensive and bloody Indian wars, something that the British currently did not
need. It also allowed the British to keep control of a smaller land mass and thus make it easier to keep
an eye on all colonists. Colonial trade was tightened and colonial taxation was increased. Central
power was increased and the power of colonial assemblies decreased.
The British first brought in the Sugar Act. The Act taxed the finer things and more luxurious items
such as wine, silk, and coffee. It was the first attempt from the British to exploit colonial tax revenue
to aid the British need. Opposition from the colonies was immediate. The revenue Act was introduced
the same year meaning the British could tax the colonies to improve the revenue of the Kingdom . The

Racing has been around for many years. People are addicted to the speed and the configuration of
racing. Racing has proven to be a great way to get people together and race cars or according to the
video even horses. Racing has come extremely far, as it used to be illegal to do and now people are
making a living off of it. According to the video, the year of 1949 was the first organized drag race
ever. The racing environment was extremely different then than now. Back then, there were no entry
fees or safety precautions taken. Now there are huge entry fees and may requirements that must be
met for the race car and driver to ensure safety. Racing exploded in the 1950 s and the National Hot
Rod Association (NHRA) was created to ensure that there ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This would ensure that the racing was protected, and it is still around today. The NHRA helped gain
respect for drag racing. I think that the NHRA was a great start for racing. It helped organize races and
make it more respectable to people who may not understand the love and passion some have for
racing. The NHRA used their safety safari to go all over the country to hot rod races, teaching them
everything from selling tickets to the safety of racing the hot rods. I think that this really helped racing
take off. These people have now learned how to make the sport safer and gain money in order to
proceed with their passion for racing. This also helped the racers gain sponsors such as Coca Cola and
Pepsi. Racing relies off of sponsors now. There has been so many technological advancements in
racing, that not the average person can afford to go out and be competitive enough to win without
help. When I think about sponsors for racing, almost every single huge corporation sponsors some sort
of race car. The racers are helping the sponsors get more business, while the sponsors support the race
car driver so they can make it to the track. My family has a deep history in open wheel dirt track
racing, and they would not have been able to compete for so long without the help of sponsors. Racing
had now become some people s way of making a living. They were able to make enough money to
support themselves, but still struggled trying to get to and from each race. The NHRA toured to
England to expand the racing dream to people all over the world. I think this was a great move by the
NHRA because the more people that are interested the more money involved. This video only proves
that racing is advancing and becoming more enjoyed all over the

Discrimination In America

Discrimination in America
Discrimination, what is it really all about? Does it still exist in America? The answer is absolutely, and
unfortunately, it will always exist. I feel that this is a term that needs definition because it will always
be controversial in American culture. Discrimination is defined as different treatment of others based
solely on their membership in a socially distinct group or category, such as race, ethnicity, sex,
religion, age, or disability. Discrimination can be viewed as favorable or unfavorable, depending on
whether a person receives favors or opportunities or is denied them. For example, a senior citizens
discount shows favorable discrimination toward ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This occurred as a result of the attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. The discrimination they
experienced happened in the more extreme form of segregation by the government. In 1942,
Roosevelt passed an order which led to an estimated 110,000 Japanese Americans on the west coast to
be arrested and placed in camps. This was all due to the mistrust for the Japanese after the attacks by
their suicide bombers. Recently, a new race has been the victim of increased hate crimes. Since the
September 11th attacks on the World Trade Centers, statistics from an FBI report of hate crimes in
American showed that the number of crimes against Muslim or Arab Americans jumped from 28 in
2000 to 481 after September 11th. It is shocking to believe that over 17 times the crimes in 2000
occurred in only three and a half months in 2001. It seems that people were taking out anger on
anyone they could blame for the tragedy the same way that people did 60 years ago after Pearl

Financial Statement Of The University Of Virginia
The financial statement of the University of Virginia divides the pension plan into diverse categories.
The categories are made up of the retirement plans, the Supplemented Retirement Income plans, and
the deferred compensation plans. The Employees of the University are considered to be employees of
the commonwealth. Considerably, the entire stable full time ordered salaried workers participate in a
definite pension plan managed by the Virginia Retirement System (VRS). Data regarding the plan are
always availed at the statewide stage solely in the Commonwealth of Virginia s Comprehensive
Annual Financial Report (CAFR). The Commonwealth, and not the University, has the full duty of
contributing to the plan.
Significantly, the entire full time faculty, particular managing staff, and the health care personnel
involve themselves in the Faculty Discretional Retirement Plans. These are set contribution strategies
in which the retirement gains got are linked to the employer and employee aids (of which most of
them are paid by the University), and the dividends and interest. Personal contracts provided the
strategies for full time faculty and given managing personnel provide for complete and instant
entrusting of both the participant s and University s contributions (Sigo, 2014). The health care
personnel s employer aids completely entrust after a single year of employment. Full pension costs
under the plans were about $36.3 million. Contributions to the Discretional Retirement

Informative Essay On Riding Horses
(Surtees). Behavior is a key factor in riding horses. Individuals can learn how to better themselves for
the future by improving the way they act. When a young person is focused on brushing, feeding, or
working with a horse, their focus is no longer on their own problems and issues. People who have
struggled to achieve their treatment goals have made significant breakthroughs through equine
therapy. Like all animals, horses set their own boundaries that a rider has to learn respect. Loving an
animal can help a child learn how to love themselves as well. The need for animals to be taken care
for on a daily basis fulfills the humans need to be needed, to nurture, and to love. (Trotter). Children

Therapeutic riding allows volunteers and horses to come together to benefit the lives of people living
with disabilities. A little girl with cerebral palsy has had more progress with two weeks of therapeutic
riding than she did with ten years of other treatments. Winston Churchill says, There is just something
about the outside of a horse that is good for the inside of a man. By participating in therapeutic
horseback riding, mentally challenged people are able to achieve things that may have seemed
impossible before. Riding horses can actually help a person burn calories without their knowledge.
Simply being outdoors can help reduce a person s level of stress. Horses help children make
connections, build relationships, and improve communication skills. They build confidence in a timid
child and they have the power to ease the pain of depression that some people may have previously
developed. Horses are easy to work with and they can connect with humans on so many levels. I
remember when I was 7 years old my grandma bought me my first horse. As I ventured out to the field
I heard a chorus of whinnies that always made me smile. Horses are creatures that always have a
warm welcome. A horse does not see a child with disabilities. A horse simply sees a child. Horses have
an extraordinary gift to accept and love all humans. For a rider to be successful they must develop a
partnership with their

Management And The Importance Of Maintenance Management
Maintenance Management is an orderly and systematic approach to planning, organizing, monitoring
and evaluating maintenance activities and their costs. A good maintenance management system
coupled with knowledgeable and capable maintenance staff can prevent breakdown problems and
environmental damage; yield longer asset life with fewer breakdowns; and result in lower operating
costs and a higher quality of instruments. The term maintenance means to keep the equipment in
operational condition or repair it to its operational mode. Main objective of the maintenance is to have
increased availability of production systems, with increased safety and optimized cost. Maintenance
management involves managing the functions of maintenance. Maintaining equipment in the field has
been a challenging task since the beginning of industrial revolution. Since then, a significant of
progress has been made to maintain equipment effectively in the field.

Environmental Consequences Of The Green Economy
Environmental assets are subject to over consumption and exploitation, resulting in environmental
damage because of the absence of an economic value associated with them (Wood, 2011). Since these
environmental assets or ecosystem services are not owned, or lack price tags, there is no economic
incentive to protect them. This brings forth an important dichotomy between the environment and the
economy. The economic and environmental challenges we face today are of great concern for
subsequent generations and unless urgent action is initiated, the consequences could unfold with the
daunting prospect of a long and deep recession with increasing unemployment rates and decreasing
output and an even greater ecological catastrophe (Wilson, 2013; Wood, 2011). The green economy
poses a solution that tackles both these challenges together by safeguarding environmental protection
through the creation of markets for ecosystem services which, in turn, can benefit the economy. This
paper will discuss some of the benefits and problems arising from the idea of a green economy and
look at the example of the carbon market to assess whether it achieves meaningful environmental
protection or is just another ploy that fails to achieve real solutions that protect the environment or
reduce the effects of climate change. 2. What is the Green Economy ? Canada s future economy will
be a green economy. But getting there will require a transformation in various aspects of our economic
lives that

Registered Nurses
Introduction In this era of globalization, medical profession has become an important profession.
People have become aware of their medical rights. With this, the burden of hospitals and nurses have
increased. A number of research has been done on the conditions of nurses in hospitals. One of the
issues for hospitals is to keep the motivation level of nurses high. It has been observed that the
attrition rate of nurses has been high. This paper would discuss a research on these issues. The
research is a qualitative research that was conducted by Carol Isaac MacKusick and Ptlene Minick in
2010. The title of the research is, Why Are Nurses Leaving? Findings from an Initial Qualitative Study

Most of the nurses mentioned that the emotional connect with patients and interaction with their
family members is the most positive thing and nurses regret this interaction. However, nurses quit
their job due to three major reasons. These are: Unfriendly workplace: This was one of the most
important factors for which nurses leave their job. The Hospitals are not able to create a friendly
environment for nurses and nurses feel lot of pressure and burden. As a result, nurses would leave the
job. Emotional distress: The nursing profession is not an easy profession. There would be lot of
emotional and mental distress in this profession. Some of the nurses are not able to take this emotional
distress and as result, they would leave the job. Fatigue and exhaustion: The nursing profession
required great level of commitment and dedication from nurses. These nurses have to work in shifts
and have to sacrifice their personal life also. . Some of the nurses are not able to take this fatigue and

The Impact Of Social Dimensions On World Health...
Social Dimension
Based on World Health Organization statistics, global economic interdependence has led to an
astonishing increase of the population and higher standards of living (Who.int, 2016). For instance,
Lagos used to have a population of 41,000 in 1900 (Cahoon, n.d.). A century later, Lagos records an
astonishing population number of 8 million (World Population Review, 2016). The traveling from one
place to another resulted in denser population centers. For instance, China has 150 million people that
left the countryside to the cities for the past 20 years (Williams, 2012, 76). Such shift can also be seen
mainly in the U.S. and Europe in different work sectors; from agriculture and manufacturing to service
healthcare, retail, education, technology, entertainment and the list can go on. This shift allowed for
changing worldviews and especially a change in the psychology of the upper class living in the
industrialized world (Stopford, Strange and Henley, 1991, 82 87). Frederic Jameson says we are... so
far removed from the realities of production and work that we inhabit a dream world of artificial
stimuli and televised experience (Jameson, 1972, Preface p. xvii). This supports the argument made by
many historians who believe that globalization has led to a celebration of individualism (Elliott and
Lemert, 2009, pp.17). Going back to the Depression and World War II, the population then faced a
large scale collectivist response to an individualistic absence. Part

Water Vs Tap Water
Water is colorless, transparent, odorless, tasteless liquid that forms the sea, lakes, rivers, and rain and
is the basis of fluids of living organisms. The source of water is from meteorites that are still falling to
the surface of Earth. Many of those meteorites contain quantities of water in crystal lattices. When
they melt, the water is released. (Some Basics of Water and the Hydrosphere) Humans need water to
survive on Earth, so we created bottled water and tap water. Humans drink water every day, but which
is better? Tap water is the best drinking water in the United States of America. That is because tap
water is safer, cheaper, and tastes better than bottled water.

Moreover, the water from public water systems is often compromised after emergency situations or
natural disasters (e.g., hurricanes, floods, tornadoes, fires, or boil alerts). During these times, bottled
water is a necessary and reliable alternative to deliver clean, safe drinking water. However, tap water
does provide in most cases a safe source of drinking water, even if occasional system failures make it
necessary for consumers to search for alternatives during these times. (Bottled Water vs Tap Water) If
and when an Emergency happens, you and your family can simply buy reusable, refillable water
bottles and 3 gallon jugs of water for each family member. Also, natural disasters are not common,
and usually you can know before one comes. Which water should you drink now? Bottled or tap? Did

The Pros And Cons Of Students In Education
Unlike fully inclusive classrooms, fully exclusive classrooms limit students opportunities to be apart
of socially diverse environments. In his social experiment, Fryxell finds that when two groups of
students with severe disabilities are broken up into two groups where one is in general education
classrooms and the other is in self contained classrooms that, [S]tudents placed in [the] general
education [classrooms] ha[ve] higher levels of social contact with peers without disabilities; ...
students in general education receiv[e] higher levels of social support from others, as well as provid[e]
higher levels of social support; and ... those students hav[e] substantially larger friendship networks
composed primarily of peers without disabilities (Fryxell Placement along ). Additionally, Stevens and
Slavin observe that after a year of fully inclusive classes that, [H]andicapped students [are] more
accepted socially by their non handicapped peers than were similar students in traditional schools with
pull out remedial programs (Stevens and Slavin The Cooperative ). Socialization with mainstream
students is important to how students without disabilities view their peers who have them. The
University of Greenwich finds that students without disabilities who have not had a lot of experiences
regarding students with disabilities have stereotypic attitude[s]/judgments towards people with
disabilities based on the psychological and physical attributes (stereotypes) of groups

Unilateral versus Bilateral Training in Stroke Rehabilitation of Persons with Upper Limb Hemiparesis
Celeste James, Lindsay Konal, and Jenell Nadolski
OT 6230
March 1, 2017
Abstract
Purposeful movement of an upper limb can be difficult for many individuals with post stroke
functional limitations such as hemiparesis. Due to the level of disability caused by stroke, researchers
have investigated rehabilitation protocols such as unilateral and bilateral training, and the benefits of
each in expediting progress towards recovery. Neurophysiological mechanisms were studied,
analyzing the effects of unilateral training, bilateral training, and a combination of the two and their
effect on the brain. Participants of the studies varied widely. However, ... Show more content on

Mudie Matyas (2000) claim that long term potentiation may result from initial bilateral rehabilitation,
which in turn established a perpetual firing pattern of the brain. Once this firing pattern is established,
simultaneous activation of both hemispheres aids the more affected limb s hemisphere via crossed
corticospinal pathways. This is suspected to occur because the strong neuronal inputs to the less
affected hemisphere are able to assist the weaker inputs to the more affected hemisphere. Through this
association, the stronger input assists the weaker input to become potentiated, thereby increasing
supply to the more affected upper extremity (Mudie Matyas,

Copland was one of the most well known American composers of the 20th century if not the most well known. Much of Copland s music is very accessible to the average listener and is something that most people can understand and connect with the themes present in the music. Almost everyone has heard of a tune that Copland composed even if they don t know that he is the one who wrote it. One of these Copland pieces that many people know is Appalachian Spring. Copland was commissioned to write the score for a ballet with an American theme in 1943 which later became Appalachian Spring. The piece was originally written for a thirteen piece chamber orchestra before being adapted for the entire symphony orchestra. The ballet was premiered in 1945 with dancer Martha Graham in the lead role. The orchestral suite version of the piece was completed in 1945 and premiered by the Boston Symphony Orchestra that year. Copland was later asked to rescore the piece to include the entire orchestra and that was completed 1954. The full orchestral version is one of Copland s most famous pieces and one of the pieces that made him as popular as he was. The title of the piece was actually suggested to him by Martha Graham who got the idea from a Hart Crane poem called The Dance. The poem goes as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Chicago the Musical Chicago Launched in 1975, the musical Chicago, created by a talented pair of composers and producers that included both John Kander and Fred Ebb later known as Kander and Ebb. Kander was born on March 18, 1927 in Kansas City, Missouri. His exposure to music began at an early age as a result of having had tuberculosis as a baby. During this time, Kander was cut off and not allowed to be around other people, that separation developed his ability for sound. Kander started piano lessons at the age of six. His parents and brother would often spend evenings playing the piano and singing. Kander s first successes came while he was a student at Oberlin College, where he attended with James Goldman, a lyricist he had known since childhood ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The show was Velma s and her sister s act before Velma killed her sister. Roxie turns Velma down only then to find out that someone else had committed a crime. Roxie s only chance at fame again was to pretend to faint and to pretend that she is pregnant, thus concluding Act 1. ( Full Script Lyrics ) The symbolism in the first act shows how corrupt Chicago law enforcement can be and how easily the media can be persuaded by giving lies to the public. The play is trying to tell the reader that in this time of day, the media and the common people are so easily brainwashed by current events that the media will praise criminals, this even happens in the media today. Act 2 starts with Amos finding out about Roxie s pregnancy, but while he is calling out for attention to let everyone know that he is the dad, no one notices him like he is invisible. After Roxie returns back to prison with all of the attention on her, she has a huge argument with Billy because Roxie thinks that she is calling all the shots now because she came up with the idea of being pregnant to get her back on the publicity train. Roxie then fires Billy thinking she can do everything on her own, later to realize that a woman was executed without a lawyer. Roxie then freaks out and calls Billy to have him be her lawyer again. When the trial date comes, Billy tells Roxie that if she puts on a show she will be fine. During court Roxie acts innocent while Billy does all the talking. The judge proclaims ... • 4. Greek Influence On Hollywood The Paramount decision and the Hollywood black list forever altered the direction of American film making standards. Before the Paramount decision, major Hollywood studios owned a monopoly on the movie industry. They bought their own movie theaters and hawked only their movies and also forced movie stars into highly restrictive contracts. The Hollywood blacklistk, on the other hand, was a time in history when the American Government focused on Hollywood to make sure they weren t pushing a communist agenda on the public. They scrutinized many actors and directors and black listed them from working in Hollywood. These events made a large change in the way movies were produced and made the people of Hollywood question their rights as movie makers. The Paramount decision was a supreme court ruling in 1948 against the major film studios in Hollywood. The studios were Loew s incorporated, Fox, RKO, Paramount Pictures, and Warner Brothers, also called The big 5 . The court ruled for the elimination of block booking and blind buying. Block booking meant that a studio would sell its films in packages on an all or nothing basis, usually theaters had to buy several ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They found HUAC s questions to be infringing on their constitutional rights. Because they would not cooperate the Committee found them guilty of contempt. Iowa State is home to one of the largest campus public art collections in the United States. There are over 2,000 works of public art (George Washington Carver). The foundation of the contemporary Art on Campus Collection and Program began during the Depression in the 1930s, when Iowa State s President Hughes envisioned that, The arts would enrich and provide substantial intellectual exploration into our college curricula (George Washington Carver). Who doesn t love art? Every day you wake up and experience some sort of artwork; whether it s a sculpture or just seeing something made so wonderful. Walking across the magnificent ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We live in a world where there is lots of judging and I believe people may not even give some art pieces a chance. In the 1940s, Christian Petersen sculpted a plaster figure of George Washington Carver. According to an article from Iowa State Museums, This is one of the few free standing, full length sculptures that Petersen ever made (George Washington Carver). He sculpted Carver as an old man holding a single peanut in his hands. Petersen s intentions were to emphasize Carver s vision for the future of agriculture (George Washington Carver). George Washington Carver was the first African American to attend Iowa State, and I personally didn t know this until I saw the sculpture located near Carver Hall. Art has its meanings, even if sometimes you aren t looking for them. A quote from George Washington Carver shows how much he cared for this blessed university, I have no words to adequately express my impressions of dear old I.S.C. (Iowa State College). All I am and all I hope to be, I owe in a very large measure to this blessed institution (Mark Bagley). When this sculpture was first created Petersen wasn t able to cast this sculpture in bronze because the cost was too much money, so he painted the work of art to resemble bronze. The sculpture was originally put inside Carver Hall on the first floor lobby (George Washington Carver). • 6. Example Of Dehumanization In Colonial History Dehumanization in History and Historical Fiction In the past, when slavery was common throughout the colonies of America, the slaves were obviously not treated with the upmost respect. They were not treated as people, but more as domesticated animals whose sole purpose was to serve their master. The exact definition of dehumanization is to deprive someone of human traits or qualities. The television series Roots focused on Kunta Kinte, a native African who was captured and sold into slavery. Examples of dehumanization are shown throughout the series and how it effects Kunta, the other enslaved Africans, and what role it played in the slave trade itself. The harsh dehumanization represented in the show proved to be a very controversial and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... No slave was respected or treated the same way as their masters were. For instance, Fiddler was a slave of a particular high status but Mr. Reynolds still made him perform the same chores as the others. He may have had better arrangements such as food from the actual kitchen and a bed to sleep on, but he would never be and could never be thought of as someone on the same level of his master. For enslaved women, the treatment was even worse. They were passed around and chosen by men as if they were simply items in a store. Usually, if a man noticed an enslaved woman and took particular interest in her, she would be delivered to him so he could do whatever he pleased with her (just as someone would do if they found a certain product they liked). This act was extremely violating and the fact that the woman had no choice in the matter and had to comply or face punishment made it worse. These violations are emotionally damaging to the woman as shown by the grief and shame expressed by a woman from Kunta s tribe when she tells him she is no longer a maiden of the Mandinka . The enslaved people of the time were treated no better than a piece of meat. They were stripped of their basic human rights and handled as if they were nothing more than ... • 9. Pontius Pilate Influence On Jesus Plate Pontius Pilate was a Roman governor who overlooked Judea. To me, he was made out to seem like a weak leader in the gospels, however in all actuality, he was a harsh and strong governor. He could arguably be considered the single man who changed history as we know it. The gospels do not explain much about Pilate and his background. The only time he was really introduced was during the trial of Jesus. He was acknowledged a few times to show he was the one who followed through with the crucifixion, and then he ceased to be brought back up again. However, the book Pontius Pilate by Paul L. Maier thoroughly and adequately illustrates Pilate s life before and after the life changing verdict. This was a fascinating read that really captivated my interest. It was long and at times hard to follow, but I was extremely intrigued with the eccentric details that Maier provided. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I never understood how serious the division was but Pontius Pilate helped inform me of the magnitude. There was serious tension since Pilate was governor over Jews and that ultimately affected his decisions. He went so far as to use Jesus being on trial as a way to manipulate the Jews to admit they had no king but Caeser. This was a confidence booster for Pilate because it reaffirmed his authority of Rome. Not surprisingly, he didn t stop there. Pilate made sure the Jews felt guilty about the crucifixion. It was said that Pilate washed his hands clean of Jesus blood. After, the Jews replied by saying, His blood be on us and on our children (238). Pilate operated the whole production so the blame would be focused on the Jews and not him. I was very shocked to see such evil works from a man. I didn t know how intense the rivalry between the Jews and Gentiles were, but it was clearly big enough for Pilate to influence a trial, Jesus trial, for his own selfish, ... • 10. The Age Of The Robot Warrior Machine The age of the robot warrior machine is looming, and it will represent monumental changes in the future conduct of war. Increased precision and decreased risk make the automation of warriors politically and militarily attractive. Government and military leaders will have to address the numerous moral and ethical questions about when, where and how to utilize these lifeless soldiers. To answer similar questions in the past, many leaders relied on the military theory from the Prussian theorist Carl Von Clausewitz book On War . Even though his theories have proven helpful in the past, can the ideas written in the 1800 s, truly be useful when applied to such drastic changes in the future conduct of war? Clausewitz military genius is immutable. Even though his writings are almost two hundred years old, the application of Carl Von Clausewitz theories on war are relevant for today and in the future. Technological advancements will present unique challenges, but as long as the true nature of war remains unaffected, his paradoxical trinity will continue to provide visionary insight and value to future leaders attempting to address wars most difficult questions. The distinction between absolute vs. real war and his theories on the relationship between war and politics, and the concept of friction remain timeless. What we are really dealing with is another change in the character of war which Clausewitz has helped leaders deal with in the past and will again in the future. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I had the aptitude for it, having worked previously as a home theatre installer back in Kansas City, but this job was much easier by comparison. What made this job less than desirable were the hot attics, damp crawlspaces where I wasn t always the only thing crawling around and the loose eaves near ideal dish mounting locations that were often home to swarms of hornets. The first paycheck I received had an error in it. I was told by my Manager at the Paducah Office to call the corporate office and talk to payroll directly and they would handle it. I regularly heard new employees being told, Call payroll and ask for an advance , not just due to pay errors, but also to cover the startup costs of tools and ladders. This advice would soon lead to disaster. For the first time in several months I was going to Atlanta, Georgia to visit my daughter for the weekend. I had received one puny paycheck and one nice one, but had spent everything to get caught up on bills that had accumulated during my unemployment. So, I did what experience and observation had taught me to do, I called payroll and asked for a relatively small advance to cover my weekend trip. Without incident a check showed up at the office the next day and my wife and I were off for a fun weekend with my daughter. It wasn t until late the next week that all hell began to break loose. In his article, Lewis discusses the possibility that Poe used the amontillado symbollically and delves into potential hidden or duel meanings. Before analyzing The Cask of Amontillado himslef, Lewis acknowledged fellow writer Bruce Kirkham s references to Poe s affinity for word play and idea that Poe had chosen amontillado specifically for its associations with the Italian word for sum or amount . He explains Kirkham s view that this relates to the idea of Montresor ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... From this point of view, as Lewis points out, one can easily relate Fortunato s drunken artifical sweetness to that of imitation amontillado. Montresor s disgust with Fortunato would then mirror Fortunato s disgust with imposter alcohols. Upon further analysis however, Lewis suggests the possibility that it is actually Fortunato s lack of a protective layer , or fleur in terms of amontillado, rather than his spurious nature, that offends Montresor. Using this idea as a basis for thought, Lewis expands the correlations between amontillado and the characters relationships and actions to include the alcohol cask and Fortunato s casket, both containing extra space; the failure of either Fortunato or poor sherry to become properly refined; the fool who cannot distinguish Sherry from Amontillado and the fool Fortunato himself proved to be in his oblivion to his plight. Additionally Lewis points out that Fortunato s alcoholism may have caused both this oblivion and the injuries he had placed on Montressor in the past. In this case, Montresor would have succeeded at exploiting the very weakness in Fortunato that had caused the damage for which he saught ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Magical Realism in Gabriel Garcia s A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings A Very old Man with Enormous Wings (1955) is a short story by Garbriel Garcia Marquez, a Latin American author. This story contains many elements of Magical Realism, such as having one fantastic element while being reality based, having a deeper meaning, and having no need to justify or explain events or human actions. The magical elements in this story are the old man (that is assumed to be an angel) and the girl who was turned into a spider because she disobeyed her parents. The parents, Peylo and Elisenda were afraid and upset when they saw the old angel. They assumed he was coming to take their baby since it had been sick. The crowd s reaction was complete curiosity. They never doubted that the man was not an angel, but they did want to see him for themselves. No one questioned the way that the angel was being treated by the crowd or Peylo and Elisenda, either. As a matter of fact, the wise neighbor wanted Peylo and Elisenda to club him to death. The author, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, write with the attitude that it would be perfectly normal to be walking back towards one s house after getting rid of some crabs and seeing an angel. He did offer some explanation to the sudden appearance of the angel. The explanation was that the angel was coming to get the baby but the hard rains knocked him down into the mud. The problem that was caused by the angel s appearance was that the crowds overwhelmed the area where he was staying. Because they were nosy and pushy, there was more mistreatment in store for him. At one point in the story, the crowd threw stones at him, threw food at him, plucked out his feathers, and burned his side with an iron for branding steers (527). • 20. The British And The American Colonies History 2.1 What Lead to the Fractured Relationship Between the British and the American Colonies Prior to the Boston Massacre? Following Britain s success in the Seven Years War and the signing of a Peace with France in 1763 Britain gained control of all territory east of the Mississippi in North America. From all of this there was a cost; the war left Britain with large military expenses debts and additional expenses of an enlarged empire. At an attempt to solve this problem, the politicians in Britain decided to exploit the colonial tax revenues in order to pay off the debts and increased expenses. Britain began to tighten control in the colonies in 1763 by stooping migration of settlers westward, this had resulted in expensive and bloody Indian wars, something that the British currently did not need. It also allowed the British to keep control of a smaller land mass and thus make it easier to keep an eye on all colonists. Colonial trade was tightened and colonial taxation was increased. Central power was increased and the power of colonial assemblies decreased. The British first brought in the Sugar Act. The Act taxed the finer things and more luxurious items such as wine, silk, and coffee. It was the first attempt from the British to exploit colonial tax revenue to aid the British need. Opposition from the colonies was immediate. The revenue Act was introduced the same year meaning the British could tax the colonies to improve the revenue of the Kingdom . The ... The NHRA used their safety safari to go all over the country to hot rod races, teaching them everything from selling tickets to the safety of racing the hot rods. This also helped the racers gain sponsors such as Coca Cola and Pepsi. Racing relies off of sponsors now. There has been so many technological advancements in racing, that not the average person can afford to go out and be competitive enough to win without help. When I think about sponsors for racing, almost every single huge corporation sponsors some sort of race car. • 26. Environmental Consequences Of The Green Economy Environmental assets are subject to over consumption and exploitation, resulting in environmental damage because of the absence of an economic value associated with them (Wood, 2011). Since these environmental assets or ecosystem services are not owned, or lack price tags, there is no economic incentive to protect them. This brings forth an important dichotomy between the environment and the economy. The economic and environmental challenges we face today are of great concern for subsequent generations and unless urgent action is initiated, the consequences could unfold with the daunting prospect of a long and deep recession with increasing unemployment rates and decreasing output and an even greater ecological catastrophe (Wilson, 2013; Wood, 2011). The green economy poses a solution that tackles both these challenges together by safeguarding environmental protection through the creation of markets for ecosystem services which, in turn, can benefit the economy. This paper will discuss some of the benefits and problems arising from the idea of a green economy and look at the example of the carbon market to assess whether it achieves meaningful environmental protection or is just another ploy that fails to achieve real solutions that protect the environment or reduce the effects of climate change. 2. • 29. The Impact Of Social Dimensions On World Health... Social Dimension Based on World Health Organization statistics, global economic interdependence has led to an astonishing increase of the population and higher standards of living (Who.int, 2016). For instance, Lagos used to have a population of 41,000 in 1900 (Cahoon, n.d.). A century later, Lagos records an astonishing population number of 8 million (World Population Review, 2016). The traveling from one place to another resulted in denser population centers. For instance, China has 150 million people that left the countryside to the cities for the past 20 years (Williams, 2012, 76). Such shift can also be seen mainly in the U.S. and Europe in different work sectors; from agriculture and manufacturing to service healthcare, retail, education, technology, entertainment and the list can go on. This shift allowed for changing worldviews and especially a change in the psychology of the upper class living in the industrialized world (Stopford, Strange and Henley, 1991, 82 87). Frederic Jameson says we are... so far removed from the realities of production and work that we inhabit a dream world of artificial stimuli and televised experience (Jameson, 1972, Preface p. xvii). This supports the argument made by many historians who believe that globalization has led to a celebration of individualism (Elliott and Lemert, 2009, pp.17).
