Analysis Of The Film La Bamba
The film La Bamba showcases one of the most important historical moments in not only music history
but also Latino music history. The star Lou Diamond, portrays Ritchie Valens originally Valenzuela.
Ritchie was a boy who did not grow up in a normal childhood. In the film Valens played by Lou
diamond is shown working hard alongside his mother Connie trying to make an honest living. His
older brother Bob finds his way to his mother and young brother convincing them both to leave the
fruit fields where they were working. While Ritchie should have been at school he was working. Once
they moved to Los Angeles, Ritchie started attending high school like a normal teen should. His love
for music grew strong as he became fond of a young girl named Donna. Donna was from a middle
class white family, while Ritchie was from a poor Latino American family. Donna s parents wanted to
keep the two apart from each other as her father did not approve of the romance because Ritchie had
nothing to offer his daughter. Ritchie had nothing to offer Donna but his music and hope of someday
making a name for himself. One day Ritchie and his band mates are having a show and a man by the
name of Bob Keane stops by to see the performance, while there Keane shows a great interest in
Ritchie and reaches out to him. Keane soon convinces Valens that he didn t need his band mates, that
Ritchie was all the talent. Bob Keane not only manages to get Ritchie to drop his band, but he also
convinces him to change

American West Art
On Tuesday we took a trip to the Chrysler Museum to view the Branding the American West exhibit.
In this exhibit it had a wide selection of Art types which we had a guide take us around to view them.
While I was there I was surprised to see a more variety of art than I thought I would see. I saw
television art that was made by a Korean man, A glass hamburger with fries and a Pepsi; this one was
the most interesting to me because I had never seen art like that in my life. Another cool thing is that
most of the art here at the exhibit had descriptions by them to let you know what the art means and
who the artist were. However, their is one piece of art that I liked the most and that one is the Pima
Basket. in this work of art you see a Native American woman making bowls and a fire where she
makes the pot a solid so they are able to use it for their needs. It also shows the respect that the White
painter has toward the Native American culture. What this work of art suggest about the American
West as a place was that it was a diverse group of people who lived there. Native Americans, Settlers
and many others. This painting also shows the amount of respect that the people on the west coast had
for each other. As a brand the American west represented a more unified part of ... Show more content

It represents the tone of the Romanticism period. The questions of this work of art that remain are how
is the relationship between the painter and the Native American Woman. Even though the description
about this work does say that it is positive, we will never know for sure . Questions that this work of
art raise for me about the time period of the American West are what more many different art styles
did people make during that time period. Their were a lot of painters, sculptors and people who did
pottery in the American West and sometimes people who had those different talents would come
together and make cool types of

The Biography Without Bias In Let The Trumpet Sound
The Biography Without Bias Throughout history, there have been attempts to tell the stories of
important people in history. These attempts, while depicting a view of an individual, are normally
filled with extreme bias towards or against the specific person. Although some may attempt to argue
that the Stephen Oates was biased towards Martin Luther King Jr., the truth is that within the novel
Let the Trumpet Sound, Stephen B. Oates uses an explanatory tone to articulate and clarify every
detail about the life and political strategies of MLK Jr. This was done so that the people who read his
book will be educated with an unbiased view of one the of the most impactful people in American
history. Stephen Oates, through the start of the book, detailed how he was going to and had written the
book. From the very start of the novel, he know that there would be flaws and was very specific about
how he would confront the flaws that were in King s life: If I uncovered human frailties in King and
how could I not? I would try to understand them, not use them to invite the readers to an execution.
(xii). However, Oates, while not always wanting to show the pits in King s life, was honor bound to do
so. He looked back on this biography by stating I had, I think, been fair, but forthright in dealing with
King s other flaws and failings the biographer is honor bound to depict a person whole... (xx). Stephen
Oates held his work to a professional level, never letting his personal

The Cherokee Indians Essay
The Cherokee Indians
The American Indian History in the Eastern part of the country is always associated with the Cherokee
Indian nation. The Cherokee s were by far the largest and most advanced of the tribes when Europeans
first arrived and came in contact with Native Americans. There are too many tribes to go over
background on every one of them, so I m going to focus on the Cherokee s since many of their ways
and customs are so similar to all the other tribes in the East.
When Europeans first arrived in North America, the Cherokees occupied a large expanse of territory in
the Southeast. Their homeland included mountains and valleys in the southern part of the Appalachian
Mountain chain. Their

The Cherokees practiced a variety of crafts, including basketwork and stamped pottery. They also
carved, out of woods and gourds, masks representing good and evil spirits. These masks were used
during their many hunting, agricultural and healing rituals. They held these ceremonies at key times of
the year, such as harvest time.
Each village was run by two chiefs. The White Chief, or Most Beloved Man helped the villagers make
decisions concerning farming, lawmaking, and disputes between individuals, families, or clans. He
also played a large role in religious ceremonies. The Red Chief gave advice concerning warfare. One
such decision was choosing who would be the War Woman, an honored woman chosen to accompany
braves on their war parties. The War Woman did not fight, but helped feed the men, offered them
council, and decided which prisoners would live or die. The Red Chief was also in charge of the
lacrosse games which were called
quot;little wars. quot; Lacrosse was played within tribes and against other tribes. It is one of the first
known friendly competitions between Indian tribes.
Hernando de Soto was the first European explorer to come into contact with the Cherokees, when he
arrived in their territory in 1540. The Europeans were very impressed with the highly advanced
cultures.

Identity, Societal Norms and the American Dream Sylvia Plath and Truman Capote throughout their
work both create unique individuals with internal and external forces holding them back. In The Bell
Jar, we are introduced to Ester who is a young and attractive women in college with a successful path
in life but is held back by madness and depression. In Breakfast at Tiffany s, we are introduced to a
unique character who makes up most of the story. We are introduced to Holiday Golightly but is
refereed to as Holly throughout the story, Holly is the main character of the story and the narrator
writes about her life. Holly makes a living as a companion to many wealthy and important men, who
lavish her with money and expensive beautiful gifts. The narrator meets Holly when she leaves her
husband and moves to New York, throughout her life and the story Holly is extremely unstable and
irresponsible. In both, The Bell Jar and Breakfast at Tiffany s, societal norms and the american dream
are major themes that help the readers understand the characters lives and behaviors. Both The Bell
Jar and Breakfast at Tiffany s, are stories that take place during the 1940s and 1950s where the role of
women was restricted in America. During this time, there were expectations placed on women by
society. In both stories we see the female characters being torn between doing what they desire or
following the stereotype and expectations

Psychology And The Theory Of Psychology
Psychology in a continuously growing tree with its roots stemming from the study of reality and
knowledge known as philosophy first studied by ancient Greece (Wiley 8). It can be defined as the
study of behaviours and mental processes in which behaviours are observable activities, and mental
processes include all internal thoughts and emotions. Psychologists often have one (or more) of four
goals in mind when they conduct research: describing, explaining, predicting, or controlling (5 6).
Many great thinkers profoundly influenced psychology including Carl Rogers, Abraham Maslow,
Sigmund Freud and many others (Vickers).Various people throughout history contributed to different
approaches and belief systems. A few examples of these systems are: structuralism focusing on mental
processes, psychoanalysis focusing on the unconscious mind, behaviourism focusing on the
unconscious mind (Vickers). Although there are many belief systems, modern psychologists share
similar procedures and values known as the empirical method (Vickers). Psychology is theory driven,
seeks evidence, multi leveled, and contextual, unlike philosophy which relies heavily on unproven
beliefs, psychology aims to discover scientific information. Psychologists approach ideas using the
scientific method based on Sir Francis Bacon s emphasis on minimizing bias (Wiley 29). They create
hypotheses which according to Karl Popper must establish observations that could be refutable (30).

Similarities Between Martin Luther King Jr And Malala Youfzai
Your Intro:
According to Martin Luther King Jr, Human progress is neither automatic nor inevitable... Every step
toward the goal of justice requires sacrifice, suffering, and struggles (brainyquote.com). This is a very
powerful quote because if you do not struggle or sacrifice in life, when come to a point where you
have to make decisions or take action, you re not going to be able to decide what to do or think. This
is how we progress and go forward, because we make mistakes and learn from them to make things
better in the world around us. In fact, Dr. King s quote suggests that struggle often motivates change.
For example, Many activists have been motivated by their personal struggles. These are people who
can truly speak for their cause, because they lived it,and really understand what they say and do.
Activists who were motivated by their personal struggles are people like Harriet Tubman, Martin
Luther King Jr. and Malala Yousafzai. Even though they all struggled with different things at different
times, their struggles motivated them to speak out for their cause and change the world.
Your Body Paragraph 1:
One activist who was motivated by a personal struggle was Harriet Tubman, She was born in
Maryland in 1820. She was a slave herself she successfully escaped in 1849 using the Underground

Comparing Machiavelli And Hobbes Political Writings And...
Both Machiavelli and Hobbes have personal roots in violent historical times which are seen reflected
in their respective theories about the use of violence in politics. The legitimate use of violence is a
topic addressed by both theorists in their respective works, as read in Selected Political Writings and
The Leviathan. Who has the monopoly over the use of violence, what its terms of use are, and what
the consequences of its use are, are distinct from the works of both Machiavelli and Hobbes.
Hobbes believed that the world, as well as humanity, was mechanic and operated according to
physical laws and chains of cause and effect. He claimed fear was the determining factor in men s
lives, which would cause them to give their liberty over to a sovereign, which would act as man,
operating according to the same laws of cause and effect as the rest of the world. This sovereign alone,
as the sole political authority, held the legitimate use of violence. As an exception to this, another
legitimate use of violence was in a member of the commonwealth s own self defence, ...because no
man is supposed at the making of a Commonwealth, to have abandoned the defense of his life, or
limbes, where the law cannot arrive time enough to his assistance. In this way, the Sovereign defends
his own power over the commonwealth by granting man legitimacy of violence for the sake of his
own safety, thus further removing fear within the commonwealth, and ensuring their continued
allegiance to the

Similarities Between Slang And Sling
Slang is language which takes off its coat, spits on its hand, and goes to work.
1. EtyDefiniSlangmology
Throughout this sub chapter the Os and Ds shall be analyzed, which implies slang s birthplace and

slengja kjeften, literally to sling the jaw, hence to abuse . Some make a connection between slang and

By all means the last definition is adjacent to presently slang, but still not close enough. In order to
move forward, it is highly needed to underline the distinctiveness between informal (non standard)
and formal (standard) style as slang s various definitions were related to these notions. First of all,
standard language can be seen as the official and the most prestigious style because of its elitist and
literate vocabulary, grammatical and full sentences based on recognized rules, and clean orthography.
Standard English is suitable for use in every type of written or spoken situation because it addresses a
hypothetical general audience. Secondly, on the opposite line abides the informal style which includes
a familiar vocabulary that is not always understood by outsiders, used in unofficial and relaxed
contexts. Formal language can be more common when writing, while informal language is more
common when speaking. The later is also called colloquial style that derives from Latin col together
and loqui to speak . This type of parlance gives the impression of friendliness, warmth, endearment
and mildness. During its life, slang was related to colloquial language, which means that it may not be
as rigid

Compare And Contrast Nike And Artemis
Never losing and never missing a shot is a day to day life of Nike Artemis. Nike being the goddess of
victory never lost. Artemis on the other hand was a very different goddess she hated being compared

brought forth to Zeus by her mother Styx the goddess of the underworld river to help in the God and
Titan war. Styx also brought Nike s brothers and sisters, Nike s first sister Zelos the goddess of rivalry,
Nike s older brother Kratos the god of strength, and power, Nike s other sister Bia the goddess of
power. These were the three brothers and sisters of Nike (Atsma 1). Artemis was a Greek goddess, The

Financial Globalization and Risk Essay
Introduction:
From the beginning of the 1990s, the global financial system has entered a phase of unprecedented
restructuring, marked by the increasing integration of financial markets and increased economic
interdependence. This process, known under the name of financial globalization allows companies
better access to financing, offers investors a greater possibility of investment and thus increases the
liquidity of the global economy.
However, this financial globalization has enormous risks. Indeed, creating an interconnection between
national financial systems, it facilitates the transmission of shocks, contagion . Thus, a local imbalance

The Basel committee was established by the central bank governors 40 years ago and since tried to
strengthen the regulation, supervision and risk management of the banking sector. The Basel 3 is
basically rules built on top of the Basel 2 and 1 framework and contains primarily 5 key improvements
that will be explained in details further down the project. Basel 1 and 2 will shortly be explained but
the main focus will be on the Basel 3.
The bursting of the housing bubble in 2007 and the crisis that ensued highlighted the shortcomings of
the banking regulation and forced the international authorities to consider a new agreement on it. Thus
the Basel Committee decided to force banks to implement this new agreement.
Problem area:
Basel III establishes a set of standards for the implementation of a liquidity ratio for international
banks , a leverage ratio , counter cyclical measures , a redefinition of equity and a review of the
coverage of certain risks . This set of standards will help to strengthen the resilience of the financial
and banking sector in anticipation of further financial and economic stress , regardless of the source.

Critical Analysis Of Education In The Education Of Henry...
Introductions can range anywhere from a few, simple sentences to paragraphs of intense information.
The introductory Preface of Henry Adams s work, The Education of Henry Adams, is a section that
insists on one s attention and care. It presents an explanation of and questions on what the main
concern of the following sections is. The Preface informs that education is the central focus within his
book, but also prompts confusion. He causes the reader to take the time to ask: which factors of
education are useful, and which are not? Are there differences in how education is fit upon every
unique person? How is education viewed by Adams, and does this perspective change over the course
of his life? Does the modification of his viewpoint change not only his main character s experiences,
but also his own character? Is education something to dread or something to desire? The Preface is the
source of confusion in his work, and the subsequent sections of Adams s piece Harvard College, The
Dynamo and the Virgin, and Vis Inertiae answer these questions and more through his analysis of
education and the effect it has on students.
One of the most notable things in the Preface is Adams s mention of the manikin, the garment, the
tailor, and how the three of them coexist. By reading the succeeding sections of his story, the symbolic
explanations of the objects become more clear. The manikin can represent the student, upon which the
tailoring teacher drapes the garment of

Cognitive Biases Are An Influence On An Individuals Method...
It is known that cognitive biases are an influence to an individuals method of decision making.
Cognitive biases are the tendencies to think in certain and specific ways which could lead to
systematic reasons to a standard of rationality or good or bad judgement. Decisions are the acts or
processes of deciding out of question or doubt, determination, making a judgement or the act for
making up one s mind to conclude to a selection of choices. Conscious and controlled decisions are

In a study of 79 students, it has been found that the ability to avoid biases as measures of critical
thinking was correlated with more than the traditional laboratory measure of how to measure critical
thinking, and found that the ability to reason logically was due to prior and already experienced logic
conflicts that involved prior beliefs (Stanovich, Toplak West, 2008). It has been said that decision
making can be processed into focused attention to what may be a relevant aspect in how some
decisions can be problematic and damaging to ones self esteem, finances, family life, social life, work
life, and love life (Böhm Pfister, 2008). Heuristics Heuristics are general decision making strategies
that people use which are based on not a lot of information, yet sometimes seem to show a better
outcome of making correct decisions (Shah Oppenheimer, 2008). Heuristics are mental short cuts that
greatly help and reduce cognitive burdens associated with conscious and controlled decision making
(Shah Oppenheimer, 2008). It has been argued that heuristics reduce work in decision making in
several ways (Shah Oppenheimer, 2008). Heuristics offers decision makers the ability to scrutinize
signals and alternative choices in decision making. Heuristics also diminishes work of influential and
retrieving information necessary to making a choice or passing judgement, therefore making it easier

What is Angry Birds ? Angry Birds is a mobile video game that was released in December, 2012. It

To begin with, in the Angry Birds game, laws of motion should be understood. In the laws of motion,
there are three concepts, where the first one is that unless an object, which is the bird, is affected by
other force, it has constant velocity. Second, acceleration is produced when a force acts on a mass. In
this game, the acceleration varies depending on how much force a player puts when stretching the
bird. Although the force a player can put is various, the player would generally use the full force since
the green pig is not at a close distance. Lastly, the other law is that for every force, the reaction force is
equal in opposite direction. Adding on to the laws of motion, gravity is involved, which is why the
motion of the birds is parabolic. If there was no gravity in this game, the birds would not be able to

These sacrifices are all in fun and are seen as a way of passage into the Rocky community. Usually
first timers sacrifice is long, painless, and completely hilarious. In fact it would not be half as fun if
you did not bring along some people to enjoy the show with you. Soon as the show started three
people where chosen to be sacrificed. Out of the three of them only one was a male and they made

Ralph Lauren Research Paper
Ralph Lauren When going through the list of designers to choose from for this project, Ralph Lauren s
name really stuck out to me. Mostly because he was mentioned quite a bit in my favorite show
FRIENDS! After watching that show I have always wanted to know more about him and now I m
really glad I do. His life has been so interesting to learn about that I think instead of just being
mentioned in a show, there should be a show made about him! Ralph Lauren was born on October 14,
1939 in the Bronx, New York City. His family included his parents (Frank and Frieda Lifshitz) and his
three siblings (Jerry, Lenny, and George). A fact that I think is pretty neat is that his parents were
Ashkenazi Jewish immigrants that left Belarus. His father ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some people complained his looks weren t innovative. I personally believe these people had no clue
what they were talking about. Nonetheless, he never let this get to him. His designs eventually hit the
TV screen in movies such as, The Great Gatsby and Annie Hall. It was around this time that Ralph
said something truly inspirational to all people interested in fashion. He said, I m interested in
longevity, timelessness, style not fashion. His work really expressed what he said as he focused on
classic American clothing. Ralph s business eventually grew to have things such as, children s
clothing, footwear, colognes, home products, and others. He now has hundreds of international stores
and even factories that make his merchandise. Ralph has even designed the uniforms for the Olympics
for Team USA. I think that is really cool. Like everybody, Ralph has had many hardships. In the mid
1980 s Ralph discovered he had a brain tumor and had to have surgery. Ever since then he has funded
many cancer research places to look for a cure. His amazing contributions led to the creation of the
Ralph Lauren Center for Cancer Prevention and Care at North General Hospital in Harlem, New York.

Challenges Business Operations Performance
CHALLENGES BUSINESS OPERATIONS PERFORMANCES FACE A business can only seize
extra ordinary opportunities if it only becomes good at the average ordinary operations. How do you
ensure your business profits are escalating even as you stay focused on achieving revenue growth? At
this point, excellence in business operations turns out to be grave. Operational excellence is a
philosophy principle in leadership, problem solving and teamwork that results in a consistent
improvements throughout the business as I focuses on the customers needs, employee empowerment,
and activity optimization along the process. Whenever people, systems and processes in any business
perfectly operate efficiently and productively, excellence is certain and goals and priorities become
achievable. This state should however be easy to achieve in such an ordeal world. There a few barriers
within the business can keep it from attaining operational excellence namely: 1. Lack of Collaboration
A business with well coordinated exercises that merges discrete steps into joined effort will experience
continues and sustainable improvements. This is however a challenge if each organization s function
acts independently without taking into account where and how the rest of the functions can add up to
their development plans. Operational strategies would be easier to implement if only employees could
collaborate and unite to construct and act on a single plan with a general goal and clear accountability

1. In Which Of The Following Markets Do You Pay Efficient...
Discussion Questions: An economy may be inefficient for two reasons market power and nonexistence
of markets. (p. 46)
1. In which of the following markets do you expect efficient outcomes? Why
a. Hurricane insurance for beach houses: Efficient outcomes because individual that build a house on
the beach would more than likely acquire some type of insurance, for example, flood insurance,
knowing that hurricanes can destroy everything. You would expect that the market for flood insurance
would function fairly efficiently.
b. Medical care:
c. Stock market Efficient outcomes; because it not a monopoly market.
It s not a market with only one seller of a good. It has lots of buyers and sellers. So you would expect
efficient outcome.
d. MP3 Players Efficient outcomes because it s not a monopoly market because of other competitor.
There are a lot of companies that sells players, however, for MP3 you have consumers who would
prefer MP3 over the other brands, so, more than likely you would expect efficient outcome.

Police Misconduct And Criminal Justice
Introduction Police executives have always had different issues within the police department. Most
police executives try to find a quick fix in order to solve the issue of police misconduct. Police
misconduct is defined as inappropriate action taken by police officers in relation with their official
duties (Police Misconduct Law Legal Definition, n.d.). In order to solve this issue, one must
acknowledge their different challenges, overcome the code of silence , and find out the role of
organizational culture.
Challenges Facing Police Executives There are many challenges facing the police executives in the
21st century, such as civil disorder and criminal prosecution of officers. In recent years there have
been quite a few civil disorders. A civil disorder is a situation in which some citizens behave in a way
that threatens the wellbeing of other citizens or the peace of a community (Cambridge Dictionaries,
2016). In the past seven years there has been a quite a few civil disorders in the United States, such as
the 2016 Donald Trump Chicago rally protest, the 2014 protest in Ferguson, Missouri, and the protests
in New York, New York and Berkeley California after a grand jury did not indict a police officer in the
death of Eric Garner. Due to the causes of some of these protests, the public have a distrust and lack of
confidence in the law and the legal system (Tyler, 2013). As a police executive, one would have to

The phrase he put in title of the story A Very Old Man remind me the religion and in fact, Christianity
because of the author s location and society that he lived in. García Márquez wants to describe a world
which every people use religion to make money and reach the higher level of society to make life
easier to spend. He wants to throw everyone s attention that catholic churches in South America are
not in a good path. And priests want to make people their slaves. He shows the corruption of catholic
churches in his story The parish priest had his first suspicion of an imposter when he saw that he did
not understand the language of God or know how to greet His ministers . Or showing corrupted cycle

Comparing Heroes In Beowulf And The Knight s Tale
Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man s character, give him power. Abraham
Lincoln. Fictional or nonfictional stories often reflect a strong hero. However, has anyone noticed, the
longer heroes remain in power the less heroic they become? The Fictional stories of Beowulf, and The
Knight s Tale, and the nonfictional story of king David, are examples of these so called heroes . These
stories prove that the longer a hero is in power, the less heroic they become.
The Knight s Tale depicts a character named Theseus. Theseus is considered by some to be a hero
because he helped overthrow bad leadership in many kingdoms, including the land of Athens. After
helping Athens, he became their king. Theseus was a good and wise king for many years. However, as
we advance through the story, Theseus makes decisions that hurt his kingdom. When two outlawed
knights begin to fight over the princess of Athens, he does not throw them in prison, does not banish
them, and does not tell them, Take this fight somewhere else, so nobody gets hurt . Instead, he ...

cowardly decision led to the sin of adultery with Bathsheba, killing her husband, trying to cover up his
sins, and not following God s commands as king. David transformed into a bad father. David
transformed into an inconsiderate king. David transformed into an unacceptable hero. His decisions
revolved around himself instead of his people. As David s power grew, so did his opportunities to sin.

1. What is your estimate of the value of Eskimo Pie Corporation as a stand alone company?
First we are going to consider the projected growth rate of Eskimo Pie Corporation using the
sustainable growth model.
Sustainable Growth Model (SGM) = ROE * (1 PR) ROE = Return on Equity PR = Payout Ratio
ROE = Net Income/ Stockholders Equity = 2526 / 19496 = 12.95%
PR = Dividends per Share / Earnings per Share = .40 / .76 = 52.6%

Is Eskimo Pie worth more to Nestle than it is worth as a stand alone company?
Nestle would want to acquire Eskimo Pie due to the synergy that is created with the purchase of
Eskimo Pie. Simply, Nestle would be able to use their existing supply chain to help and advance
Eskimo Pie´s causes. For instance, since Nestle´s current ice cream novelties are sold in a wide range
of stores, adding the Eskimo Pie branded ice cream novelty would not add much in the way of cost to
providing the product for customers, as a matter of fact, it is likely to create added value in
distribution, costing the same amount of money to distribute the combined product lines as it would to
continue to distribute the current product lines.
Eskimo Pie would also benefit from being able to utilize economies of scale with respect to their
suppliers. Since Nestle is currently participating in purchasing common ingrediants that would go into
producing novelty ice cream products, they would be able to garner larger discounts from suppliers,
especially considering Eskimo Pie is a much smaller company, and does not produce the level of items
such as chocolate, or does not require the amount of milk that a company the size of Neste does.
Nestle would also gain access to a very large share of the novelty ice cream market. As seen in Table

Pottery In The Ming Dynasty
One of the major achievements during the Ming dynasty, regarding art, is pottery. By 1433 over
500,000 pieces were being produced each year. (Porcelain) During the Ming dynasty, technique in
glazing and sculpting advanced immensely. Colors became more prominent, designs more detailed,
and materials stronger with intriguing new elements. Pottery made a big impact on the lives of the
chinese people. They molded their lives around these beautiful creations in many ways. During its
time, the milky white and cobalt blue porcelain was the most internationally sought after of all
ceramics. The blue and white porcelain was not invented during the Ming dynasty, but it was
perfected. Clays were created that could be made into thinner vessels and glazes were made with a
purer, glossier finish. The designs grew to a wider range of shapes and patterns for a more detailed
finish. (Morris) The image on the left shows a vase with expert brushwork of blue underglaze on a
pure white porcelain. It has lots of detailed patterns that are commonly found in all styles done at this
time. This is one of the most typical forms of pottery during the Ming Dynasty.
This piece can currently be found in at The Met Museum. It is called, Jar with Dragon. A description
of the piece writes about this style pot, arguably, being one of the most most important development in
the global history of ceramics. The description talks this pot being made for the court, dating back to
the rule of the Xuande emperor, and the powerful dragon smoothly moving through a sky. They talk
about the the monstrous faces on the neck of the jar originating from the face of glory that can be
found in Indo Himalayan imagery and became popular in china in the fifteenth century. (Jar)
Porcelain was also enriched with the innovation of five colored wares. Applying a variety of over
glaze pigments to decorative schemes of flower, landscape and figurative scenes. (Chinese) Five
colorware was applied in the 16th century in stronger colors beautifully contrasted against a pure
white background.(Silbergeld) Looking to the image at the right, you can see a pot with a floral
pattern painted in shades of blue, green, red, brown, and yellow, all on a pure white base.

A Research Study On New Key Markets
Studying more deeply the geographic population, finding new key markets ready to be pierced by a
new identifiable group with specific needs, is something I want to do. Being an entrepreneur that is
studying carefully the rising market of elderly people seeking to upgrade their standard vehicle to a
mobility vehicle and selling it to them is something I am looking forward to. This segment of the
population is rising, now that the baby boomers are in their retirement years.
The article is old (10 years old), but the information is still relevant and the currency does not matter
in the sense where we shouldn t pay attention to this potential market because the elderly population is
still raising ...and by 2020 that number is expected to double, surpassing 40 million. (said Guyette
p.24). This article could be considerate even as recent since the baby boomers ended in the mid 60s
and the market is still rising.
It is also relevant to a potential career as a Marketing researcher and in entrepreneurship, as it explains
the low implication of dealerships to sell mobility vehicles and insurance company repairing the
potential damages made inadequately. Also, collision shops seem unprepared to repair these issues.
These issues are caused by unprepared people towards this market, which is relevant to the challenges
I will face.

Listerine was originally marketed by Lambert Pharmacal Company later known as Warner Lambert.
In December 2006, Johnson Johnson acquisition of Pfizer s consumer healthcare division is what led
to the manufacturing and distribution of Listerine for this company. The inputs put into making
Listerine is Raw Materials, design, and the manufacturing process, with these inputs we will analyze

All the costs by a company can be broken into two categories, fixed costs and variable costs. Costs
that are independent of output are called fixed costs. Fixed costs remain constant throughout the
relevant range and are usually considered sunk for the relevant range. Buildings and machinery are
included inputs that cannot be adjusted in the short term. They are only fixed in relation to the quantity
of production for a certain time period. The cost of all inputs is variable, in the long run.
Variable costs are costs that vary with output. Variable cost changes according to the quantity of a
good or service being produced. Generally variable costs increase at a constant rate relative to labor
and capital. Variable costs may include wages, utilities, materials used in production, etc. The inputs
of Listerine start with Raw Materials (generally composed of diluents, antibacterial agents, soaps,

Robots And The Robot Robots
In the mid 1970 s second generation robots were introduced. As these robots became more advanced
they were equipped with internal sensors which gave them a major advantage over first generation
robots. This new technology gave them increased information about the world around them. Robots
use sensors to detect changes around them and to respond to their surroundings based on the
information they receive from certain sensors. There are many types of sensors that perform a variety
of tasks by transforming mechanical, heat, and light energies into electrical signals. The signals
produced by sensors communicate to the robot on how it should respond to different situations. This
gives the robot a higher sense of intelligence and adaptive skills by providing more information about
its environment. These skills allow the robot to change their manipulator location and the position of
its end effector so that it can work around obstructions in its work envelope. The robot s surroundings,
the precision needed, and what must be sensed all help decide what type of sensor must be used for
the robot. Depending on these credentials, robots could be equipped with light, optical, sound, or
temperature sensors. Light is a form of radiation that makes up a group of frequencies in the
electromagnetic spectrum that we can see. Robots can react to this form of radiation by using light
sensors. Light sensors respond to variations in light energy by applying many types of opto electronic

Importance Of Self Discipline
We already know that self discipline is important, but do we really need it?
We know about success tools, and we familiarize ourselves with many useful resources that lead us to
success, so why do we need self discipline?
We all have goals for many areas of our lives. Some of us want successful relationships, some like to
get more money, others want simply happiness in their lives and others seek better health with less
weight. These are common goals, and we sometimes fail or succeed in achieving them. The general
question is: Why we don t achieve those goals? Why we don t become successful in these goals?
The general answer is: Lack of self discipline.
Success needs time. It does not happen at once. What you do today will determine the results in your
future. If you change your present, you change your future. If you eat a lot of pizzas and delicious
food today, you will gain weight, and this will show in your future weight. If you spend more money
than what you earn today, you will have less money in the future.
Present steps determine future results.
Self discipline takes place in your present which will lead to your future.
You can learn many tips and tools for your goals, but unless you take action for these goals, you will
never become successful in reaching them. Almost all goals need efforts and continuity. Self discipline
will enable you to get required efforts and continuity. If you need to lose weight, you need self
discipline among other skills to eat less. If

Our Culture Is One That Is More Prone To Speak Rather Than
Our culture is one that is more prone to speak rather than listen and when we listen the majority of us
are listening to reply and not listening to understand. Listening is a vital interpersonal skill and it

different types of listening and in this essay I will seek to cover the many aspects to Empathetic

(Dean, 1997). Empathetic listeners must pay attention to the speaker with their entire presence and
avoid being distracted from the outside interruptions include focusing on their own response. For
Example, the listener should, lean forward, maintain close eye contact, take time to understand the
speaker s words, ask for clarification, repeat a phrase or word, and express genuine concern.
Additionally, the speaker should pay close attention to the speaker s overall communication, such as,
body language, thoughts and feelings. (Hagevik, 1999). As quoted in Hicks, 2016, The context of the
person s story is like watching a movie in black and white, listening for feeling adds the colour. For
successful empathetic listening, the listener needs to listen to understand rather than listening to reply.
(Dean, 1997). Furthermore, an empathetic listener must listen from the heart so they can develop a
real understanding for the speaker s words and emotions. (Hagevik, 1999). To develop progression
and a close relationship between the listener and the speaker Dr Rogers believes that empathetic
listening is an essential key in communication as the speaker may feel as though someone does care
about them and their issues as they are finally being heard and understood.

An Analysis Of Everyday Ambassador, By Kate Otto
First and foremost, the novel Everyday Ambassador, by Kate Otto, opens the eyes of many, and makes
people realise that there are four simple values they can add into their everyday lives to make a
difference. By adding these values into your life you could make a difference for not only yourself but
for your neighbors, community, and maybe even the world. An everyday ambassador has to have
focus, empathy, humility, and patience. By realizing you want to make a change you are already on the
journey to becoming an everyday ambassador.
First, one value that you should take a look into adding into your life is focus. Focus is when you have
your interest and attention on one certain object or task. By allowing focus into your everyday habits
... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Third, another value needed to be on the path to be an everyday ambassador is humility. Humility is
knowing we are important and equal to everybody else around us no matter what age, skin color, or
religion they have. We should not have to wake up everyday and get likes on social media to feel
important. We shouldn t compare our lives to others and put people down because they are different
than us. Having humility allows you to realize that it is okay to not be an expert at everything and
know that sometimes you can t contribute as much as others. But knowing that, allows you to find
aspects of your life where you can help and make a difference. You should be putting yourself into
situations where you can help change the world even if it is one small step at a time. By doing this you
can become an everyday ambassador.
Lastly, the fourth and final value you need to have to become an everyday ambassador is patience.
Patience is the ability to overcome annoyance when confronted with some kind of delay of results.
This has become a very distinct problem with people as we have every answer we could ever want at
our fingertips. By having patience in your life and letting yourself know that results could take a while
puts you on the path to becoming an everyday ambassador. You need to know, especially if you want
to help change people s lives or change the world, that seeing results could take a very long time.
However, if you do have the patience

What Makes A Failing Tree Bough Crashed Through The...
The argument I find There Will Come Soft Rains to be making is that nature does not need humans or
human interaction to survive and will in fact outlive them and their creations to reclaim the Earth.
Humans are very complex and need more upkeep to survive. Nature on the other hand needs no help
and can live on its own. Nature wouldn t even notice if humans were gone and would most likely
thrive without them. Humans and their creations on the other hand wouldn t be able to survive without
upkeep.
One of the main points of evidence I have found to support this argument is how in the end of the
story a failing tree bough crashed through the kitchen window (Bradbury) of the home, causing the
kitchen to burst into flames. This sets off a chain of events that ultimately lead to the homes demise.
This evidence is important because it shows how nature destroys the last standing home and because
there are no humans to keep up the house, it does so with ease. If the humans were still taking care of
the house, it would not have run out of water to actually put out the fire. Nature on the other hand does
need maintenance from humans. Nature takes care of itself and thrives without human interaction. If
humans were not around to cut the grass, the grass would just grow and grow with no need to stop. It
is only the humans preference the grass be cut, not natures.
The fact that the house ran out of water is another point of evidence that nature does not need human
interaction to

Ludlow Castle Archetype
The Reveal of Character through False Projection s in A Masque Presented At Ludlow Castle, 1634
(Comus) by John Milton
Archetypes demonstrate both a constraint for difference beyond objectification as well as a
characterized meaning that is devoid of anything beyond surface level appearance; From Milton s
standpoint, characterizations are purely derived from physical depictions and what is said and seen
about archetypical character of ingiune esque the Lady. The Lady, without a true name or purpose
beyond her argument of chastity and virginity (530), serves as the primary comprehension to how
archetypes are often deemed characterized in the face (Comus, 526 530). In comparison, the

Both passages strongly allude to Comus projection of desire and wishes that he puts on the lady but
thus demonstrates the falsifications of such that are purely derived not from characterization but his
own confusion on sexuality. In first hearing the lady Comus reveals to the audience a confused state of
yearning for which he will project any image he can onto a character of specified gender. Even when
revealing her true taste to him, he still attempts to project a imagery of a Lady onto her despite
encountering her in the most unlade like way possible. Thus Comus means to complicate the
conversation of Characterization by mistakingly creating a simplified state of character projection that
leans closely to archetypal normality s. This in turn guide a understanding of not the Lady s character
but of Comus who represents a ideological stance on women in society. In all, Comus is a
performance that concedes to teach the audience about the qualities asserted to oneself when making
false projections towards others thus disclosing commentary on societal

By choosing net neutrality, we continue to protect our most unalienable right, the 1st Amendment. If
we don t protect our 1st Amendment here it could set a precedence were eventually we lose all of our
first amendment rights.
A great legal positive for the ISPs in keeping net neutrality is that net neutrality removes all liability of
what goes on on their networks, which we already have and they would probably like to keep. This,
again, is similar to how electrical companies work. If an electricity company was unknowingly
supplying power to a warehouse that was used to hack into a company, the electrical company isn t
liable for supplying the electricity because they don t get any control over monitoring what that power

Danielle Madero Pr
It was Danielle Madero s senior year of high school, when her mother noticed something had changed.
Danielle had become a soldier. Emotions were high as Danielle explained that a month ago she walked
into a recruitment office with a friend, and walked out a member of the United States Air Force. For
the next fourteen years she served as a radio operator. During this time she conducted numerous
operations, but one stands out in particular. A devastating F 22 crash just outside of Fairbanks, Alaska.
Danielle and the other soldiers in the rescue mission received a call at four am briefing them on the
situation. Moments later two helicopters and a C 130 were in the air. It [the crash site] essentially

She focuses on maintaining the harbinger s internet presence by doing behind the scenes work on the
website, iccharbinger.com. When she started with the harbinger she knew nothing about managing a
website. However, after rebuilding the site model three times she proudly says, I practically taught
myself coding. In addition to updating the websites layout Danielle is responsible for posting new
stories, and ensuring that modules, like the live updating twitter feed, operate properly. Most of the
time things go through without a hitch, but sometimes things go wrong. Most recently the module
responsible for updating the date at the top of the website stopped working. I got a call at seven this
morning from Justin, and he s freaking about there being no date. Despite the occasional misshape
such as this Danielle is enthusiastic about working for the harbinger, and encourages others to join. It
looks great on a resume. She

FSU Essay As I stare anxiously at my coach, my heart pounding. He signals for a squeeze bunt, as I
stand on third I ready myself. This run determines the winner, in the bottom of the seventh inning. The
fans sit nervously on the edge of their seats, as they watch my team comeback from losing 10 2. What
I do next decides the outcome of this game. My eyes lock in on the pitchers palm, ball in hand. She
winds up, throwing her arm in a circle. As her arm reaches directly above her head, I take off. Jenna
places the bunt aimed towards the pitcher, however, before she even picks up the ball, I glide safely

Elgin Marbles Research Paper
Learning Activity 1
The Elgin Marbles is the common name for an extensive collection of the Ancient Greek sculpture
which has been on display in the British Museum since the early 1800s. The collection includes 75
meters (247 feet) of the original 160 metre (524 foot) frieze from the Parthenon temple in Athens. The
frieze is the highly decorative section above the columns in classical Greek architecture. The
collection is controversial because of its namesake the seventh Earl of Elgin removed the treasures
from Greece with the permission of the Ottomans, who occupied Greece from the mid 15th century
until 1821. For decades, the Greeks have called for the priceless artifacts return, but the British
Museum defends its ownership as legitimate. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Dante s Inferno Comparative Essay
The geographical influences also bring various differences between them. In Europe, the christianity
and empires were dominant.
##2 2 4 Medium Form (Language Based Literature(poem), Visual Based Image)
Inferno is a poem (literature) that suggests the descriptions via language. However, propaganda by
North Korea is a visual artwork that depicts via images. This difference brings a huge difference in
perceiving information from the artwork. However, considering that the Inferno had an extensive use
of all senses in descriptions, Inferno can be considered as the part of showing instead of telling.
According to the Introduction to the Inferno, due to his meticulous depictions of the senses and
emotions, Archibald T. MacAllister described that the Inferno is really a three dimensional art .

The fear brought from Inferno inherits itself within the individual and religion. The fear of hell is
solely dependent upon oneself or religion. For instance, throughout the Inferno, Dante is trying to
understand what he had done in his life. He tries to reach the salvation as he takes a look at the hell.
The fear of death and beyond death is solely dependent to the person who committed the sins. The
religion clearly explains the procedure by describing the eternal suffering in the blazes. Therefore, if
the person tries hard enough to overcome the fear of death, it is possible to overcome the fear of the
margin, Unlike the fear of hell which was originally within the individual and religion, the fear
brought from the propaganda is based on the other individual and politics. The system does not allow
people to overcome the fear from the propaganda. Instead, people reinforce the fear in order to utilize
the negative emotion to make people obedient. Therefore, the fear is mostly dependent on the other

Why Did Children Join Communism
Education of Soviet Youth and Expansion of Economic Education
Today the word communist often has a negative connotation, however, this was not always the case.
This brings to question why did children choose to join the Communist Party between the years of
1917 to 1936? In the Soviet Union between those years youth were educated to devoutly pledge
allegiance as well as fight for a common cause, communism. Starting education at a young age,
through propaganda posters and school curriculum, influencing and sabotaging a child s perception
was made easier. This aided in recruiting many Soviet youth for the communist party. By analyzing
one propaganda poster from the year 1924 titled Always Prepared! The Next Shift ... Show more

Including black and white as the only colors beside red makes the red pop out more, making it the
focus of the poster. Red became popular beginning in the French Revolution when revolutionist were
depicted wearing a red phrygian cap, creating a stigma of rebellion. Developing from this idea of
rebellion, Russians used red to empower communism, having it represent the blood of the workers
who died in the struggle against capitalism 4. The word red in Russian красивый is also very similar
to the word beautiful in Russian красный 5 indicating that communism is the beautiful cause that
needs to be worked for. Children constantly seeing red would be taught that communism is a must and
they should join the communist party. As well as color symbolism the images depicted on the columns
of the propaganda poster must also be examined to understand what they taught children of the Soviet.
In one image three children are portrayed fixing a windowsill, which helps to indicate that children are
included in the working class, so fighting for liberation of the working class will also include self
liberation. Another image showcases a Soviet child with his arms around two foreigners, in the photo
all participants are smiling representing joy. This adds to the idea of liberation of peasants worldwide.
Communist want socialism to spread globally so linking communism to happiness and broadcasting
universality by having foreigners depicted teaches children to evangelize communism, helping it
spread. The next image that must be addressed is the one illustrating a child hard at work in front of a
desk filled with books. This teaches Soviet youth that education is key to liberation. To properly fight
for the cause, they must be well informed and educated. The final image that should be analyzed is
one representing a

Intel And The 8086 Chip
In 1978, Intel came out with the 8086 chip. This chip had 29,000 transistors, 20 address lines, and
could talk with up to 1MB of RAM ... designers never suspected anyone would ever need more than 1
MB of RAM (PCMech, 2001, para. 4). Intel continued to produce its 8000 series chips, increasing the
speed and the memory each time. In 1982, the 286 was the first processor to have protected mode,
which was later used by Windows and other operating systems to allow programs to run separately but
concurrently (PCMech, 2001, para. 8). In the late 1980s, Intel came out with the 386. The 386 was a
huge step forward, as it had 275,000 transistors, came in a 33 MHz version, worked with 4 GB of
RAM, and could support a virtual memory of 64 TB (PCMech, 2001, para. 9). In 2002, hyper
threading came out in the Pentium 4 HT, which meant that the CPU could be fooled into thinking it
had two CPUs for each one that it actually had. Using hyper threading along with additional cores has
enhanced performance and speed because some cores are utilized for programs while others perform
background jobs (Hoffman, 2014, paras. 6,7). Another way CPUs have been able to increase speed is
by raising the number of cores per CPU socket, and utilizing an I/O Hub called QuickPath
Interconnect (Santana, 2014, p. 565). The use of multiprocessing has been the key for the development
of today s CPUs. Memory Memory has undergone many changes over the years. In 1949, Jay
Forrester developed the first

Analysis Of J. Crew s Website
J. Crew Ease or difficulty of shopping: J. Crew s website allowed for easy shopping. The home page
offered several ways to shop. You had the option of choosing a specific category such as women s
pants, you could browse through the wear to work collection they have put together, or you could have
used the search bar that was provided to search for a specific item. Locating desired merchandise: I
found that locating the desired merchandise, khaki pants, was a little difficult. Once I navigated to the
women s pants section I found that J. Crew had broken up the pants into the way they fit. I had no way
to refine my search on this page. However, when I typed exactly what merchandise I was looking for
in the search bar on the home page I was able to find the khaki pants quickly. Also, when I used the
search bar I was able to refine my search with tabs reading women, men, girl, or boys. Merchandise
and assortments: I found that J. Crew did not have a large assortment of women s pants. After finding
my desired merchandise, I saw that they offered only three types of khaki pants. What has J. Crew
done to exploit the synergies between different channels? J.Crew has several ways to shop with their
retail stores, online store, catalogs, and direct mail. They have done a few things to exploit the
synergies between these different channels. One noticeable strategy that J. Crew uses is offering deals
that can be used only online and giving students and teachers in store discounts

Mayan Calendar Essay
Throughout the years, many different cultures have created many different calendars. Each culture like
the Mayans and Egyptians and others have all used celestial bodies to help determine the months and
years. Each culture has their way of using the celestial bodies to create a calendar because they had
different methods of calculating the time. Having a calendar helped them keep track of seasonal and
celestial events and on predicting eclipses and moon phases.
Originally, the calendars were constructed by ancient civilizations by using the celestial bodies in
which the Sun, Moon, planets, and stars were used as references to calculate the time and to determine

which many people believe their calculation prophesies the end of the world which the archaeologist

Saturno states, Maya paintings are incredibly rare, not because the Maya didn t paint them often, but
because they rarely preserve in the tropical environment of Guatemala. These paintings contain
illustrations. The first painting has a king wearing a royal outfit that contains feathers and a man
kneeling beside the king holding a stylus possible being a scribe. Underneath the painting, there is a
label that could be translated to, Younger Brother Obsidian or Junior Obsidian. The next painting has
three men wearing feathered headdresses and medallions which also have a label translated to, Older
Brother Obsidian or Senior Obsidian. The paintings weren t the only things found, a wall filled with
calculation was also found. The wall was filled with charts of numbers representing bars and dots.
Maya astronomers, priests, and mathematicians at the time used to calculate the moon ages to create
the Mayan Calendar and to predict the next eclipses from observing the heavens. Mayan calculation

Taxi Driver Social Context
Taxi Driver, a 1976 thriller directed by Martin Scorsese grants onlookers a grimy view into the lonely,
slowly deteriorating life of the disturbed New York City cabbie Travis Bickle (Robert DeNiro), a
Vietnam War veteran. Viewers are guided through Bickle s take on N.Y.C. through the masterful use
of aesthetically pleasing camera techniques such as the rule of thirds that bring focus onto the
characters onscreen without causing the eye discomfort. Sound choices further immerse the audience
in the buildup to and execution of up close, violent, and mental action that ensues later in Travis story.
However, Travis focused story is not simply delivered through some indescribable magic of film. To

One example of the camera s use of leading lines is visible in the scene where Bickle asks the all too
famous question You talkin to me? (Taxi Driver, 1976) A vigilant viewer may notice that the
background seems to be tilted outwards leading from the left side of the shot to the right side, with
Travis upper body and head remaining on the right side of the shot. A sensation of being led by the
background to the image of Travis may be noticed by the viewer, as the angle of said background tilts
towards Travis image. Making use of this technique both accents and emphasizes Bickle s presence
onscreen. Leading lines camerawork does not disappear from the film, either. It enhances around three
quarters of the scenes where some story related event occurs. This technique draws more attention to
the story, as it leads the viewer s eye to many of the characters/ events occurring

  • 2. Analysis Of The Film La Bamba The film La Bamba showcases one of the most important historical moments in not only music history but also Latino music history. The star Lou Diamond, portrays Ritchie Valens originally Valenzuela. Ritchie was a boy who did not grow up in a normal childhood. In the film Valens played by Lou diamond is shown working hard alongside his mother Connie trying to make an honest living. His older brother Bob finds his way to his mother and young brother convincing them both to leave the fruit fields where they were working. While Ritchie should have been at school he was working. Once they moved to Los Angeles, Ritchie started attending high school like a normal teen should. His love for music grew strong as he became fond of a young girl named Donna. Donna was from a middle class white family, while Ritchie was from a poor Latino American family. Donna s parents wanted to keep the two apart from each other as her father did not approve of the romance because Ritchie had nothing to offer his daughter. Ritchie had nothing to offer Donna but his music and hope of someday making a name for himself. One day Ritchie and his band mates are having a show and a man by the name of Bob Keane stops by to see the performance, while there Keane shows a great interest in Ritchie and reaches out to him. Keane soon convinces Valens that he didn t need his band mates, that Ritchie was all the talent. Bob Keane not only manages to get Ritchie to drop his band, but he also convinces him to change ... • 3. American West Art On Tuesday we took a trip to the Chrysler Museum to view the Branding the American West exhibit. In this exhibit it had a wide selection of Art types which we had a guide take us around to view them. While I was there I was surprised to see a more variety of art than I thought I would see. I saw television art that was made by a Korean man, A glass hamburger with fries and a Pepsi; this one was the most interesting to me because I had never seen art like that in my life. Another cool thing is that most of the art here at the exhibit had descriptions by them to let you know what the art means and who the artist were. However, their is one piece of art that I liked the most and that one is the Pima Basket. in this work of art you see a Native American woman making bowls and a fire where she makes the pot a solid so they are able to use it for their needs. It also shows the respect that the White painter has toward the Native American culture. What this work of art suggest about the American West as a place was that it was a diverse group of people who lived there. Native Americans, Settlers and many others. This painting also shows the amount of respect that the people on the west coast had for each other. As a brand the American west represented a more unified part of ... Questions that this work of art raise for me about the time period of the American West are what more many different art styles did people make during that time period. Their were a lot of painters, sculptors and people who did pottery in the American West and sometimes people who had those different talents would come together and make cool types of ... • 4. The Biography Without Bias In Let The Trumpet Sound The Biography Without Bias Throughout history, there have been attempts to tell the stories of important people in history. These attempts, while depicting a view of an individual, are normally filled with extreme bias towards or against the specific person. Although some may attempt to argue that the Stephen Oates was biased towards Martin Luther King Jr., the truth is that within the novel Let the Trumpet Sound, Stephen B. Oates uses an explanatory tone to articulate and clarify every detail about the life and political strategies of MLK Jr. This was done so that the people who read his book will be educated with an unbiased view of one the of the most impactful people in American history. Stephen Oates, through the start of the book, detailed how he was going to and had written the book. From the very start of the novel, he know that there would be flaws and was very specific about how he would confront the flaws that were in King s life: If I uncovered human frailties in King and how could I not? I would try to understand them, not use them to invite the readers to an execution. (xii). However, Oates, while not always wanting to show the pits in King s life, was honor bound to do so. He looked back on this biography by stating I had, I think, been fair, but forthright in dealing with King s other flaws and failings the biographer is honor bound to depict a person whole... (xx). The Cherokee s were by far the largest and most advanced of the tribes when Europeans first arrived and came in contact with Native Americans. There are too many tribes to go over background on every one of them, so I m going to focus on the Cherokee s since many of their ways and customs are so similar to all the other tribes in the East. When Europeans first arrived in North America, the Cherokees occupied a large expanse of territory in the Southeast. Their homeland included mountains and valleys in the southern part of the Appalachian Mountain chain. Their territory ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Cherokees practiced a variety of crafts, including basketwork and stamped pottery. They also carved, out of woods and gourds, masks representing good and evil spirits. These masks were used during their many hunting, agricultural and healing rituals. They held these ceremonies at key times of the year, such as harvest time. Each village was run by two chiefs. The White Chief, or Most Beloved Man helped the villagers make decisions concerning farming, lawmaking, and disputes between individuals, families, or clans. He also played a large role in religious ceremonies. The Red Chief gave advice concerning warfare. One such decision was choosing who would be the War Woman, an honored woman chosen to accompany braves on their war parties. The War Woman did not fight, but helped feed the men, offered them council, and decided which prisoners would live or die. The Red Chief was also in charge of the lacrosse games which were called quot;little wars. quot; Lacrosse was played within tribes and against other tribes. It is one of the first known friendly competitions between Indian tribes. Hernando de Soto was the first European explorer to come into contact with the Cherokees, when he arrived in their territory in 1540. The Europeans were very impressed with the highly advanced cultures. Relations with outsiders started off ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Holly makes a living as a companion to many wealthy and important men, who lavish her with money and expensive beautiful gifts. The narrator meets Holly when she leaves her husband and moves to New York, throughout her life and the story Holly is extremely unstable and irresponsible. In both, The Bell Jar and Breakfast at Tiffany s, societal norms and the american dream are major themes that help the readers understand the characters lives and behaviors. • 7. Psychology And The Theory Of Psychology Psychology in a continuously growing tree with its roots stemming from the study of reality and knowledge known as philosophy first studied by ancient Greece (Wiley 8). It can be defined as the study of behaviours and mental processes in which behaviours are observable activities, and mental processes include all internal thoughts and emotions. Psychologists often have one (or more) of four goals in mind when they conduct research: describing, explaining, predicting, or controlling (5 6). Many great thinkers profoundly influenced psychology including Carl Rogers, Abraham Maslow, Sigmund Freud and many others (Vickers).Various people throughout history contributed to different approaches and belief systems. A few examples of these systems are: structuralism focusing on mental processes, psychoanalysis focusing on the unconscious mind, behaviourism focusing on the unconscious mind (Vickers). Although there are many belief systems, modern psychologists share similar procedures and values known as the empirical method (Vickers). Psychology is theory driven, seeks evidence, multi leveled, and contextual, unlike philosophy which relies heavily on unproven beliefs, psychology aims to discover scientific information. Psychologists approach ideas using the scientific method based on Sir Francis Bacon s emphasis on minimizing bias (Wiley 29). They create hypotheses which according to Karl Popper must establish observations that could be refutable (30). Unfortunately, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. Similarities Between Martin Luther King Jr And Malala Youfzai Your Intro: According to Martin Luther King Jr, Human progress is neither automatic nor inevitable... Every step toward the goal of justice requires sacrifice, suffering, and struggles (brainyquote.com). This is a very powerful quote because if you do not struggle or sacrifice in life, when come to a point where you have to make decisions or take action, you re not going to be able to decide what to do or think. This is how we progress and go forward, because we make mistakes and learn from them to make things better in the world around us. In fact, Dr. King s quote suggests that struggle often motivates change. For example, Many activists have been motivated by their personal struggles. These are people who can truly speak for their cause, because they lived it,and really understand what they say and do. Activists who were motivated by their personal struggles are people like Harriet Tubman, Martin Luther King Jr. and Malala Yousafzai. Even though they all struggled with different things at different times, their struggles motivated them to speak out for their cause and change the world. • 11. Comparing Machiavelli And Hobbes Political Writings And... Both Machiavelli and Hobbes have personal roots in violent historical times which are seen reflected in their respective theories about the use of violence in politics. The legitimate use of violence is a topic addressed by both theorists in their respective works, as read in Selected Political Writings and The Leviathan. Who has the monopoly over the use of violence, what its terms of use are, and what the consequences of its use are, are distinct from the works of both Machiavelli and Hobbes. Hobbes believed that the world, as well as humanity, was mechanic and operated according to physical laws and chains of cause and effect. He claimed fear was the determining factor in men s lives, which would cause them to give their liberty over to a sovereign, which would act as man, operating according to the same laws of cause and effect as the rest of the world. This sovereign alone, as the sole political authority, held the legitimate use of violence. As an exception to this, another legitimate use of violence was in a member of the commonwealth s own self defence, ...because no man is supposed at the making of a Commonwealth, to have abandoned the defense of his life, or limbes, where the law cannot arrive time enough to his assistance. In this way, the Sovereign defends his own power over the commonwealth by granting man legitimacy of violence for the sake of his own safety, thus further removing fear within the commonwealth, and ensuring their continued allegiance to the ... In order to move forward, it is highly needed to underline the distinctiveness between informal (non standard) and formal (standard) style as slang s various definitions were related to these notions. First of all, standard language can be seen as the official and the most prestigious style because of its elitist and literate vocabulary, grammatical and full sentences based on recognized rules, and clean orthography. Standard English is suitable for use in every type of written or spoken situation because it addresses a hypothetical general audience. Secondly, on the opposite line abides the informal style which includes a familiar vocabulary that is not always understood by outsiders, used in unofficial and relaxed contexts. Formal language can be more common when writing, while informal language is more common when speaking. • 15. Critical Analysis Of Education In The Education Of Henry... Introductions can range anywhere from a few, simple sentences to paragraphs of intense information. The introductory Preface of Henry Adams s work, The Education of Henry Adams, is a section that insists on one s attention and care. It presents an explanation of and questions on what the main concern of the following sections is. The Preface informs that education is the central focus within his book, but also prompts confusion. He causes the reader to take the time to ask: which factors of education are useful, and which are not? Are there differences in how education is fit upon every unique person? How is education viewed by Adams, and does this perspective change over the course of his life? Does the modification of his viewpoint change not only his main character s experiences, but also his own character? Is education something to dread or something to desire? The Preface is the source of confusion in his work, and the subsequent sections of Adams s piece Harvard College, The Dynamo and the Virgin, and Vis Inertiae answer these questions and more through his analysis of education and the effect it has on students. One of the most notable things in the Preface is Adams s mention of the manikin, the garment, the tailor, and how the three of them coexist. By reading the succeeding sections of his story, the symbolic explanations of the objects become more clear. The manikin can represent the student, upon which the tailoring teacher drapes the garment of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It has been said that decision making can be processed into focused attention to what may be a relevant aspect in how some decisions can be problematic and damaging to ones self esteem, finances, family life, social life, work life, and love life (Böhm Pfister, 2008). Heuristics Heuristics are general decision making strategies that people use which are based on not a lot of information, yet sometimes seem to show a better outcome of making correct decisions (Shah Oppenheimer, 2008). Heuristics are mental short cuts that greatly help and reduce cognitive burdens associated with conscious and controlled decision making (Shah Oppenheimer, 2008). It has been argued that heuristics reduce work in decision making in several ways (Shah Oppenheimer, 2008). Heuristics offers decision makers the ability to scrutinize signals and alternative choices in decision making. Heuristics also diminishes work of influential and retrieving information necessary to making a choice or passing judgement, therefore making it easier for one to make a ... In the laws of motion, there are three concepts, where the first one is that unless an object, which is the bird, is affected by other force, it has constant velocity. Second, acceleration is produced when a force acts on a mass. In this game, the acceleration varies depending on how much force a player puts when stretching the bird. Robots use sensors to detect changes around them and to respond to their surroundings based on the information they receive from certain sensors. There are many types of sensors that perform a variety of tasks by transforming mechanical, heat, and light energies into electrical signals. The signals produced by sensors communicate to the robot on how it should respond to different situations. This gives the robot a higher sense of intelligence and adaptive skills by providing more information about its environment. Some of us want successful relationships, some like to get more money, others want simply happiness in their lives and others seek better health with less weight. These are common goals, and we sometimes fail or succeed in achieving them. The general question is: Why we don t achieve those goals? Why we don t become successful in these goals? If you change your present, you change your future. If you eat a lot of pizzas and delicious food today, you will gain weight, and this will show in your future weight. If you spend more money than what you earn today, you will have less money in the future. Present steps determine future results. Self discipline takes place in your present which will lead to your future. You can learn many tips and tools for your goals, but unless you take action for these goals, you will never become successful in reaching them. Almost all goals need efforts and continuity. By adding these values into your life you could make a difference for not only yourself but for your neighbors, community, and maybe even the world. An everyday ambassador has to have focus, empathy, humility, and patience. By realizing you want to make a change you are already on the journey to becoming an everyday ambassador. First, one value that you should take a look into adding into your life is focus. Focus is when you have your interest and attention on one certain object or task. By allowing focus into your everyday habits ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Third, another value needed to be on the path to be an everyday ambassador is humility. Humility is knowing we are important and equal to everybody else around us no matter what age, skin color, or religion they have. We should not have to wake up everyday and get likes on social media to feel important. We shouldn t compare our lives to others and put people down because they are different than us. Having humility allows you to realize that it is okay to not be an expert at everything and know that sometimes you can t contribute as much as others. But knowing that, allows you to find aspects of your life where you can help and make a difference. You should be putting yourself into situations where you can help change the world even if it is one small step at a time. By doing this you can become an everyday ambassador. Lastly, the fourth and final value you need to have to become an everyday ambassador is patience. Patience is the ability to overcome annoyance when confronted with some kind of delay of results. This has become a very distinct problem with people as we have every answer we could ever want at our fingertips. By having patience in your life and letting yourself know that results could take a while puts you on the path to becoming an everyday ambassador. You need to know, especially if you want to help change people s lives or change the world, that seeing results could take a very long time. However, if you do have the patience ... • 40. What Makes A Failing Tree Bough Crashed Through The... The argument I find There Will Come Soft Rains to be making is that nature does not need humans or human interaction to survive and will in fact outlive them and their creations to reclaim the Earth. Humans are very complex and need more upkeep to survive. Nature on the other hand needs no help and can live on its own. Nature wouldn t even notice if humans were gone and would most likely thrive without them. Humans and their creations on the other hand wouldn t be able to survive without upkeep. One of the main points of evidence I have found to support this argument is how in the end of the story a failing tree bough crashed through the kitchen window (Bradbury) of the home, causing the kitchen to burst into flames. This sets off a chain of events that ultimately lead to the homes demise. This evidence is important because it shows how nature destroys the last standing home and because there are no humans to keep up the house, it does so with ease. If the humans were still taking care of the house, it would not have run out of water to actually put out the fire. Nature on the other hand does need maintenance from humans. Nature takes care of itself and thrives without human interaction. If humans were not around to cut the grass, the grass would just grow and grow with no need to stop. It is only the humans preference the grass be cut, not natures. The fact that the house ran out of water is another point of evidence that nature does not need human interaction to ... Ludlow Castle Archetype The Reveal of Character through False Projection s in A Masque Presented At Ludlow Castle, 1634 (Comus) by John Milton Archetypes demonstrate both a constraint for difference beyond objectification as well as a characterized meaning that is devoid of anything beyond surface level appearance; From Milton s standpoint, characterizations are purely derived from physical depictions and what is said and seen about archetypical character of ingiune esque the Lady. In first hearing the lady Comus reveals to the audience a confused state of yearning for which he will project any image he can onto a character of specified gender. Even when revealing her true taste to him, he still attempts to project a imagery of a Lady onto her despite encountering her in the most unlade like way possible. Thus Comus means to complicate the conversation of Characterization by mistakingly creating a simplified state of character projection that leans closely to archetypal normality s. This in turn guide a understanding of not the Lady s character but of Comus who represents a ideological stance on women in society. In all, Comus is a performance that concedes to teach the audience about the qualities asserted to oneself when making false projections towards others thus disclosing commentary on societal ... Whenever you use the internet you are benefiting from net neutrality. Net neutrality is what allows us to visit any website at the maximum speed anytime with no slowdowns or interference by ISPs. This is one of the core ideas that internet was founded on. ISPs (Internet Service Providers) are the companies that are trying to restrict and monopolize the internet. This brings to question why did children choose to join the Communist Party between the years of 1917 to 1936? In the Soviet Union between those years youth were educated to devoutly pledge allegiance as well as fight for a common cause, communism. The word red in Russian красивый is also very similar to the word beautiful in Russian красный 5 indicating that communism is the beautiful cause that needs to be worked for. Children constantly seeing red would be taught that communism is a must and they should join the communist party. As well as color symbolism the images depicted on the columns of the propaganda poster must also be examined to understand what they taught children of the Soviet. Intel continued to produce its 8000 series chips, increasing the speed and the memory each time. In 1982, the 286 was the first processor to have protected mode, which was later used by Windows and other operating systems to allow programs to run separately but concurrently (PCMech, 2001, para. 8). In the late 1980s, Intel came out with the 386. The 386 was a huge step forward, as it had 275,000 transistors, came in a 33 MHz version, worked with 4 GB of RAM, and could support a virtual memory of 64 TB (PCMech, 2001, para. 9). In 2002, hyper threading came out in the Pentium 4 HT, which meant that the CPU could be fooled into thinking it had two CPUs for each one that it actually had. Using hyper threading along with additional cores has enhanced performance and speed because some cores are utilized for programs while others perform background jobs (Hoffman, 2014, paras. 6,7). Another way CPUs have been able to increase speed is by raising the number of cores per CPU socket, and utilizing an I/O Hub called QuickPath Interconnect (Santana, 2014, p. 565). The use of multiprocessing has been the key for the development of today s CPUs. Memory Memory has undergone many changes over the years. In 1949, Jay Forrester developed the first ...
