Explore How Shakespeare and Orwell Present Forbidden Love...
Explore how Shakespeare and Orwell present forbidden love in Romeo and Juliet and 1984 .
Introduction
What is love? What are the main similarities and differences between the presentation of forbidden
love in 1984 and Romeo and Juliet? Relate briefly to the contexts of both texts.
Paragraph 1
Why does Romeo love Juliet? Why does Winston love Julia?
Look at how Romeo is attracted to Juliet for being beautiful and compare it to how Winston loves
Julia for her lack of purity. Explore this idea.
You could use the quotes:
The brightness of cheek would shame those stars Romeo about Juliet, page 53, Romeo and Juliet
Listen. The more men you ve had, the more I love you. Do you understand?
Yes, perfectly.
I hate purity, I hate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
You could examine whether Winston and Julia s love is simply a rebellion against BB is this what
creates their love? Is it love at all?
You could use the quote:
You are only a rebel from the waist down part 2 chapter 7
I prefer a positive to a negative. In this game we are playing we can t win. part 2 chapter 3
Paragraph 5
Why is foreshadowing, and a sense of the inevitable downfall, an important aspect of the forbidden
love between the characters?
Foreshadowing :
In Act 3 Scene 5 Romeo says Adieu Adieu , which means goodbye in Italian this turns out to be a
reality.
1984, Winston says we are the dead . part 2 chapter 3
Paragraph 6
Dramatic irony versus no dramatic Irony we know from the Prologue that Romeo and Juliet are going
to die, however, we are not aware that there is a camera watching Winston and Julia. What is the effect
on the reader?
Act 3 Scene 5:
With Romeo, till I behold him dead
Is my poor heart, so for a kinsman vexed.
Perhaps compare this to shock of BB finding out about Julia and Winston didn t know there was a
camera in room even though it was inevitable that they would get caught
Paragraph 7
Is the love between Romeo and Juliet stronger because they are prepared to die for it? Does the fact
that Winston knows that he could not kill himself for Julia mean that his love is not as strong as
Romeo s or that the force against them is stronger?
Suicide drastic and goes against religion, it means that you won t

The, Gender, And Race
Intersectionality is the practice (law) of looking at the overlap of a gender and race regarding an
individual. In most practices before intersectionality it was common practice in law to group a gender
together or an one race together in belief that they all had the same struggle and searched for the same
outcome. Which was misguided and instead of handling one gender or race for instance (black people
as a whole) looking at someone s gender and race as a package (black women not just all women).
This new practice of intersectionality is done because the needs of someone may be more specific to
their race or gender but the combination of both race and gender.
For instance, looking at the rape of women needless to say these women have been subjected to both
of crime and sexism. Intersectionality will point out that there may be needs that should be addressed
regarding the rape depending on if that individual has overlap does implementing intersectionality. For
example, women of color being raped may also have to deal with racism. The idea here is not just to
work towards ending sexism but sexism (if you group all women together) but to also end racism. If
the law only looks at one of the overlapping elements gender or race and not the both of them then
maybe only some problems are addressed and e extinguished. 1

seen day and night in the sky. It is now known as the crab nebula, and is a breeding ground for smaller
stars. Another way for a supernova to be created, is when a white dwarf siphons off hydrogen from
another star to the point where it will become unstable and explode.
What is left after the huge explosion is another dwarf star, a neutron star, or the fierce black hole. A
neutron star is about the size of a city like Los Angeles, but has the mass of about two suns. This
means it is incredibly dense and has an unbelievable gravitational pull, almost 2 billion times that on
earth. In fact, this pull is so strong that it bends radiation and allows astronomers to see the back of the
star. They also spin up to 48 thousand times per minute due to the energy from the supernova. ... Show

The most common is the pulsar, which releases jets of material at nearly the speed of light. Since
neutron stars are spinning rapidly it can appear as if they release the material all at once creating a
cloud around it. The other common type of neutron star is the magnetar, which has a magnetic field
more than a thousand times that of a normal neutron star. This magnetic field is the strongest known
field in the universe and is so powerful it can change the shape of an atom. It also causes starquakes
on the surface of the neutron star which will displace enormous amounts of radiation. If two neutron
stars were to collide, in under 30 milliseconds a black hole would have formed as well as a massive
magnetic field and an estimated nova like event (Reed,

Billy Graham Accomplishments
Dr. Billy Graham told William McKay during an interview that My only concern is that my image on
screen would eclipse the image of Jesus. I am at an age where I know that I will be standing before my
Savior soon, and I don t want anything to disappoint him. (McKay, p. 1) Billy Graham s goal through
life was for others to see Jesus through him and in him so that when he saw his Savior, He would be
proud of him. Billy Graham is remembered as a great evangelist because his early life helped prepare
him for adulthood while his evangelical career led him to many accomplishments and life lessons that
he used to lead others to Christ.

Harriet Tubman s Journeys In The Film The Power Of Good
According to the Cambridge English Dictionary, a rescuer is a person that saves someone or
something from a dangerous, harmful, or difficult situation. In the documentary, The Power of Good,
Nicholas Winton, a British humanitarian, organized the transport and rescue of Jewish children from
Czechoslovakia right before World War II. This operation was later known as the Czech
Kindertransport. Another historical figure who saved people from harm was Harriet Tubman, an
African American abolitionist who led enslaved people to freedom along the Underground Railroad, a
vast network of meeting places, secret routes, passageways and safe houses used by slaves in the U.S.
to escape bondage. Although Harriet Tubman and Nicholas Winton are both historical ... Show more

Rather than staying in the safety of the North, Tubman made it her mission to rescue other slaves from
bondage. However, in 1850, the Fugitive Slave Law was passed that stated that escaped slaves could
be captured in the North and be returned to slavery. This made Tubman re routed the Underground
Railroad to Canada, which prohibited slavery. These journeys were usually during the winter months
to minimize the likelihood of being seen. Tubman also carried a rifle for protection and to ensure that
her escapees would not lose their nerve. From 1850 to 1860, Tubman rescued an estimated 70 slaves
in thirteen expeditions and gave an additional 50 to 60 fugitives successful instructions on how to
escape, earning her the nickname the Moses of the Underground Railroad. Nicholas Winton s rescue
missions were very different than those of Harriet Tubman. In December 1938, Winton visited a friend
who was working with primarily Jewish, Czechoslovakian refugees in Sudetenland, the western area
of Czechoslovakia under German control, when he heard that there were no organizations to deal with
refugee children. He began writing letters asking governments to help these children, but only Britain
and Sweden agreed to support him. Winton, along with some volunteers, forged travel documents,
arranged foster parents for the children, and paid out of pocket for the transportation. The children
boarded trains from Prague, Czechoslovakia across Germany to the Atlantic Coast. Then, they were
transported across the English Channel to Britain where foster parents waited to pick up the children.
After the children arrived in Britain, Winton had no contact with them. His rescue efforts ended on
September 1, 1939, after Germany invaded Poland and closed off all borders under German control,
starting World War II. In total, Winton managed to orchestrate eight transports and saved

Leadership Theory Analysis And Application
Leadership Theory Analysis and Application
There are many different leadership theories that have been proposed, tested, and studied over the
years. Many organizations utilize these theories and practices to collect and analyze data within their
own organizations which may allow them to find ways of increasing the effectiveness of their
company. Although there are not any theories deemed completely perfect in leadership, many have
been given lots of validity based on the and studies done involving them. This paper will analyze and
discuss different leadership theories including; the contingency theory, the transformational theory,
and the leader member exchange theory. This paper will also discuss the most effective leadership
theory in a current organization.
Contingency Theory
The Contingency Theory is a theory based on the notion that the effectiveness of a leader is correlated
with the leadership style of that leader and the situation in which they are presented with (Northouse,
2013). Contingency theory suggests that there are two different leadership styles, one is relationship
motivated, and the other is task motivated. These styles are measured by the LPC (least preferred
coworker) scale created by Fiedler, which gives the leaders a score. The leaders that score low on the
scale are considered to be task motivated leaders, while the ones that score high are considered to be
relationship motivated (Northouse, 2013). Within this theory there were also three

nation has no incentive to demand that government work. They prefer for government to dismantle

Theatre Personal Statement Essay
What got you interested in Theatre?
My interest in theatre started when I was living in Spain. My parents started a theatre company with
other military and US teachers. From the ages of 4 9, I got to play small roles or work backstage on
plays ranging from Shakespeare to Neil Simon. Where did you study and how long did it take?
In Undergrad, I majored in theatre and opera. Immediately after graduating I continued my studies in
theatre and opera performance in graduate school. The overall time in University was 7 years. After
Graduate school, I continued to train as an actor in NYC for three years at Terry Schreiber Studios.
How about your time on television, how did it differ from your theatre experience?

easier to focus acting to fit the lens. The other difference between film and TV is the order in which

BERGERAC at the Walnut St. Theatre. The profoundly talented actor, Alan Scarfe was playing
Cyrano. Every moment I wasn t onstage, I stayed in the wings to watch his performance; particularly
the last scene where CYRANO dies. Oh, the simplicity of delivering heightened language and pure
emotion he was able to conjure!! Some of the best training I ve ever had.
The second memory was when I was cast in a National Tour of SHLEMIEL THE FIRST. The super
star here was the director, David Gordon, whom I had the privilege to work with several times after
the tour. David Gordon is one of the best movement based directors I ve ever worked with. He was a

Okonkwo Gender Roles
Rather early in the story, Things Fall Apart, we are met with this line his whole life was dominated by
fear, the fear of failure and of weakness . This line is referring to the life of the main character,
Okonkwo, who struggles with an internal fear throughout the book. This line from the story, in my
opinion, for shadows a lot of themes and motives that take place through out the story. Most
specifically I think this line can be applied to the theme of gender that is pushed during the entirety of
the book. Gender plays a big role within the tribes and within Okonkwo s life, I say this because most
things that Okonkwo does or events that take place in the tribe have some aspect of a gender role
applied to them. This idea of gender roles ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With all of this being said about gender roles I believe that the line his whole life was dominated by
fear, the fear of failure and of weakness points to the idea that Okonkwo saw it as a failure and a
weakness to show emotion and to show a feminine side. Okonkwo wants to project this hyper
masculine self and reject anything feminine leaving him with imbalances. When I say imbalances I
mean things like that fact that he beats his wife and alienates his sons. I believe that the overall fear of
being feminine stems from the fear of being like his father, who was considered a weak man.
Continuing with the line his whole life was dominated by fear, the fear of failure and of weakness ,
Okonkwo is overcome with the fear of becoming his father, who is considered a weak and lazy man.
Okonkwo lets this fear overcome him and causes him to project the hyper masculine tendencies that
he displays. The fear of being weak and lazy pushed him to the point that he takes part in the murder
of his adopted son, Ikemefuna. Okonkwo s inability to let go of this fear ultimately leads him to his

How Olympus Has Fallen Made Similar Strides For Success
For a world fearful of terrorism, we sure do love to watch mad men run amok in a fictional capacity

nothing more than a evil doer with a vision. Popular films, like Die Hard, Air Force One, and Speed

those aforementioned films, Olympus Has Fallen made similar strides for success a few short years
ago.

Events That Have Shaped America
Many events that occurred in the 1960s to late 1970s are important factors as to how Americans view
their country and society as they know it today. Events like the creation of the Internet in 1969, or the
assassination of John F. Kennedy in 1963, Watergate in 1973, and even the 26th Amendment in 1971
are very substantial to the formation of America and how they deal with certain situations ( 7.01

Born in Atlanta, Georgia on January 15, 1929, he was the son of Martin Luther King Sr.a Baptist

Aeneas And Jesus Quotes
Most great leaders have a well controlled emotion. In the Aneid, Virgil presents Aeneas as the leader
of the Trojan who can mostly control his emotion and follows God s prophecy to fulfill his fate.
Similarly, in the Gospel According to Mark, Mark portrays Jesus as the leader of a new religion who
seems never fail to control his emotion. However, both Aeneas and Jesus do sometimes fail to control
their emotions. In fact, Aeneas has little control over his emotion when he tries to revenge for Pallas or
he is intervened by Juno; both Aeneas and Jesus cannot control their emotion in facing the threat of
death.
To revenge for his companion, Aeneas fails to control his anger. In Aeneas trip to the underworld, his
father Anchises teaches him the way to rule the nation, according to Virgil:
But yours will be the rulership of nations, remember, Roman, these will be your arts: to teach the ways
of peace to those you conquer, to spare defeated peoples, tame them proud. (the Aneid, Book6, line

However, Aeneas does not follow those methods because he cannot control his anger. After a long
fight with Turnus, Aeneas eventually defeats him. Wounded on the ground, Turnus, on the other hand,
admits that he has been conquered and begs Aeneas for sparing. Nevertheless, Aeneas sees the
luckless belt of Pallas, Aeneas intimate comrade, on the shoulder of Turnus. He recognizes that the
belt is the trophy that the murder of Pallas, Turnus, takes from Pallas. With anger, Aeneas forgets
about the important ways to rule the nation and kills Turnus. The act of failing to spare the defeated
enemy illustrates Aeneas inability to control his anger. All in Aeneas mind is the death of his comrade
by the hand of enemy that he defeats; thus, his rage rises and takes control over him. To revenge,
Aeneas sets his anger out; and to revenge, He loses the control of his

What Does Bourdieu s Thinking Tools Mean
Bourdieu s Thinking Tools Explain in writing each concept in your own words Pierre Bourdieu is a
French sociologist who approaches the notion of power via a theory of society. He has six critical
concepts which he believes are the cause of domination in a social structure Habitus, Field, Capital,
Symbolic Violence, Hysteresis and Doxa. He uses these terms to explain the reproduction of
inequality in society. This essay will demonstrate Bourdieu explanations of social structures through
socialisation, wealth, education, culture, norms, opinions and social space. Bourdieu attempts to
answer the question: Will there always be prevalent inequality in society? Habitus: Habitus results
from early socialisation experiences in which external structures are internalised (Swartz, 1997).
External structures which affects ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A change in one causes a change in the other (Grenfell, 2012). The durability of one s habitus is
dependent on early socialisation and it can be subject to change. In this sense Bourdieu is not
deterministic but he does acknowledge how challenging it would be to change. However, it is possible
for change to occur but it may take some time and only some will benefit. People with high capital can
predict the change in society, therefore they are essentially the only people that will benefit from the
change. In contrast, working class with less capital now move into the previous positions acquired by
those with high volumes of capital. The people with high capital have the power to predict a change in
habitus. Steve Jobs is a prime example of this in that he revolutionised thinking and thus changed
habitus through his development of the iphone. He has high volumes of capital and he determines
what people will need in the future. Context is important because it is how inequality is reproduced
the agents with the high capital create the social structures and in the instance it is Steve

Arthur Miller
Intro
Death of a Salesman is a play written in 1949 by Arthur Miller, the man who would later go on to
write the Crucible. Arthur Miller based the character of Willy Loman off of his uncle, who was a
traveling salesman and felt competitive with his own sons towards Arthur and his own brother. After
bumping into Arthur in Boston, Manny shortly committed suicide. In his life, Arthur had known three
people who had committed suicide and two of those were traveling salesman. Arthur was so
passionate about this play that he had finished Act 1 in only one day, and Act 2 was finished six weeks

Miller s father owned a women s clothing company and during the Depression, he lost his business,
and their family moved to Brooklyn. After high school Miller worked at a bunch of different jobs in
order to save money for college. He attended the University of Michigan and spent a significant
amount of those four years learning to write and creating plays and his first was called No Villain. In
1940, he married Mary Grace Slattery and they had two children, Jane and Robert. After he received
his degree, he joined the Federal Theater Project in New York City (Galvin). His first Broadway play,
The Man Who Had All the Luck, opened in 1944 and was a failure, but his next play, All My Sons,
was extremely successful. Only two years after the success of All My Sons, Miller came out with his
most famous and well respected work, Death of a Salesman. This play won him both a Pulitzer Prize
and a Drama Critics Circle Award, and ran for more than 700 performances. Within a short while, it
had been translated into over a dozen languages and had made Miller a millionaire. Miller began work
on his next major play, the Crucible. The Crucible was set in Salem during the witch hunts of the late
17th century, but was also based off of McCarthyism in the 1950s. After Miller divorced Slattery, he
married Marilyn Monroe in 1956. In 1956 and 1957, Miller was subpoenaed by the House Un
American Activities Committee and was convicted of contempt of Congress for his refusal to identify
writers believed to hold Communist sympathies. The following year, the United States Court of
Appeals overturned the conviction. A difficult time in his life, Miller ended his marriage with actress

How would you feel if the government seized your land, sold it, expected you to change your lifestyle
and then tried to convince you it is for your own benefit? In 1887, the United States Government did
exactly that to the Native American tribes with the Dawes Act. The Dawes Act effectively split up
Native American land so that non Native American people could take possession of it. The Native
American people had worked the land their entire lives, and now they were faced with moving from
their homeland and way of life for the government. The Dawes Act, also known as the General
Allotment Act, had devastating effects on the Native American population in 1887 by stripping the
people of their heritage, ideas, values, and land, and it continues ... Show more content on

The goal of the Act was to make independent farmers out of the Indians by giving them land and the
means for citizenship. The intention was to free them from the reservations and make them civilized
American people. The Native American people had no input in this decision, and they were not even
consulted. The Dawes Act declared that each head of an Indian family be allotted 160 acres of
farmland and 80 acres to every unmarried adult. Rest of the the tribal land was considered surplus so
the government could sell it to the settlers. Unfortunately, the Dawes Act led to many negative effects

Exercise 1
Part 1
How does a class being conducted online instead of on campus increase or decrease the classes
contribution to the carbon cycle during the term?
Conducting online classes not only is time efficient but also prevents students to pollute earth. Being
on campus would ask student for transportation. How will the students come from home to campus?
Universities are never on walking distances therefor having a personal car or using transits such as
buses or taxis is the only way to get to school. Universities hold thousands of students which mean if

As rock breaks down, phosphate and other ions are released. Plants then absorb the phosphates from
the soil with the assistance of water. The phosphorus cycle moves the essential element from Earth s
crust into its soil, fresh water ecosystems, terrestrial ecosystems, and oceans. This process, especially
the portion involving the sea floor and Earth s crust, typically takes many millions of years.
Phosphorus
Because of its relative rarity, phosphorus is frequently a limiting factor in the growth of plants and
other organisms which relate to tropical rain forests.
Nitrogen Cycle To become biologically available, inert nitrogen gas (N2) must become fixed, or
combined with hydrogen in nature to form ammonium ions (NH4), which are chemically and
biologically active and can be taken up by plants. However, once nitrogen undergoes the right kind of
chemical change, it becomes available to the organisms that need it and can then act as a potent
fertilizer.
To the tropical forest nitrogen supports as a potent fertilizer in the forest.
Nitrogen Cycle
Carbon Cycle
The carbon cycle describes the routes that carbon atoms take through the nested networks of
environmental systems.
The abundance of plants and the fact that they take in so much carbon dioxide for photosynthesis
makes plants a major reservoir, or sink, for CO2, and thus for carbon. Carbon Cycle
The tropical rain forest is like a melting pot for carbon dioxide to

How Charitable Organizations May Not Participate Or Intervene
Charitable organizations may not participate or intervene in any political campaign on behalf of any
candidate in office. The violation of engaging in political activities is the loss of the organization s tax
exempt status. The prohibition of such political activity includes making contributions to a candidate s
political campaign, making endorsements of a candidate, lending employees to work in a political
campaign, or providing facilities for use by a candidates. However, there are certain educational
activities that are permitted. An organization may conduct an educational activity as long as the

Early legislation was enacted between 1894 and 1936; tax exempt regulations during this time
developed around three principles: First, organizations that operated for charitable purposes were
granted exemption from the Federal income tax. Second, charitable organizations were required to be
free of private inurement. Finally, an income tax deduction for contributions designed to encourage
charitable giving, was developed. One of the first tax exempt regulations was the Wilson Gorman
Tariff Act of 1894. The Wilson Gorman Tariff Act established that charitable organizations must
operate for a charitable purpose in order to be tax exempt. The act also stated, nothing herein
contained shall apply to corporations, companies, or associations organized and conducted solely for
charitable, religious, or educational purposes. The Court later held that the law as unconstitutional.
However, the act provided the foundation for future tax legislation involving charitable organizations.
The Revenue Act of 1909 expanded the language from the Wilson Gorman Tariff Act. The Revenue
Act was important because it established the idea that tax exempt charitable organizations should be
free of private inurement. Under this act tax exemption was given to any corporation or association
organized and operated exclusively for religious, charitable, or

Old Barn Research Paper
The history of a barn can tell someone a lot about a place and the values of that place. Restoring a
barn takes time and effort, just like anything good in life. Barns are used for much more than just a
storage place, and they can describe a location or be part of a place s history. An old barn could just be
a pile of rotting wood, but by the same token, the Mona Lisa could simply be described as a piece of
canvas with some pigments attached. As one can see, when looking at barns through different
perspectives, one might gain a new appreciation. Barn preservation is an important way for the values
of a society to be preserved just as certainly as art preservation helps society to celebrate and
remember its heritage. The decreasing number of farmers in the US is one reason why people are
losing knowledge of where food actually comes from. Agriculture gets lost with people who are ...

one thousand twenty two b.c. in the corner of northern China. The capital city of the Shang dynasty
was Anyang which was located above the Huang He river. The third dynasty was the Zhou dynasty
which started in one thousand twenty two b.c. after the king of Shang was overthrown after losing his
right to rule by becoming corrupt. The Zhou dynasty claimed the largest part of land than the other

people based on what they do or how much money they made, the social standing of your family
could never change no matter what happened because the hierarchy meant that their is only a set of
jobs that you could do if you were born to that family. The type of hierarchy that China followed was

Ethical and Legal Dilemmas of Surrogacy Essay
Ethical and Legal Dilemmas of Surrogacy
Christie Blackwell

Ethical and Legal Dilemmas of Surrogacy Many individuals have a life plan consisting of college,
marriage, and then children. After numerous methods of conception, many couples are still unable to
conceive a child. A woman who enters into a contract with a couple, agreeing to carry and birth a
child, then hand that child over to the contracted couple, who is often unable to conceive own their
own naturally is considered surrogacy (Pozgar, 2012). Surrogacy raises many ethical and legal issues
for all parties involved. Is it moral or immoral to enter into an agreement with a woman to birth a child

On the flipside on the issue, can it not also be viewed that allowing these women to do as they see fit
with their bodies as economic empowerment? The money provided to these women can used for
various financial means outside of taking care of medical heath care for themselves and the child. The
amount provided to each female varies depending on what she and the couple feel is sufficient,
therefore any extra monetary compensation can used to help the women relieve themselves from other
debts. Autonomy does provide the right that women get to choose their reproductive rights and that
includes bearing children for those who cannot do so or for monetary stability. Suggesting that
surrogacy dehumanizes her is another form of paternalism. Paternalism limits one s autonomy for their
own good (Pozgar, 2012). Some view altruistic surrogacy as a form of exploiting the surrogate. There
is no monetary compensation to woman placing her health and well being on the line for another s
benefit. However, it can also be held that the woman knowingly entered into the agreement with full
disclosure of the risks and benefits to her health and body. Again, autonomy and justice are extremely
prevalent ethical principles to explore when discussing the topic of surrogacy. Same sex marriage has

The Similarities Of Abraham Lincoln And Nathan Bedford...
There are going to be times when the nation needs someone to be a hero and lead them to a better
place. A hero does not necessarily have to have a supernatural power. The only thing that makes
heroes heroic is their brave soul and mind. Abraham Lincoln and Nathan Bedford Forrest are also
considered heroes in different ways. Nathan Bedford Forrest is a genius, a commander, and a
successful businessman. Lincoln is also another genius, a commander, and a man who ended slavery.
Both Abraham Lincoln and Nathan Bedford Forrest influenced people in different ways and reasons.
Abraham Lincoln and Nathan Bedford Forrest walked on a different career path, but still somewhat
similar. They are a leader and also a role model for many people. Forrest was born in a small town of
Chapel Hill in Tennessee. He was born into a very poor family with no education. All he learned when
he was growing up as a child was hunting, tracking, and survival skills. Lincoln on the other hand was
not any better. He was born and raised in a log cabin and also faced so many difficulties growing up.
Lincoln s brother died when he was very young, his mother also died from an illness, then his sister
from a childbirth. Lincoln also suffered from depression many times throughout his life. Yet, these two
men are indeed very encouraging to the people of America. Lincoln set his goal to change the country
in a way anyone would have never tried. He had his goal to end slavery and also took action against

Policymakers must consider a new development paradigm because it concerns public welfare. Future
generations must be taken into account when creating these developments within the paradigm. Not
only should the paradigm consider the interdependence of economic, social, and environmental
dimensions, but also human needs must be met without compromising the future generation s quality
of life.
One must observe that sustainability, is conceptually a broader interception of environmental, social,
and economic issues. In 1989, William Rees, a professor with a creditable Ph.D. in population
ecology, suggested that an agreeable universal definition of the concept sustainable development was
precondition to developing acceptable policies and plans to support this concept. During the same
year, Swedish doctor named Karl Hendrick Robert, assembled a group of scientists and researchers.
Similarly, he believed the term lacked practical sense, thus his mission was to reach a scientifically
meaning for it. Subsequently, the research concluded that stainability is the capacity of the human
society to continue indefinitely within the cycles of natural environment. A broad connotation on
sustainable development created a complex

What Is The Myth Of Wild Africa Summary
Book Review: The Myth of Wild Africa: Conservation Without Illusions by Jonathan Adams and
Thomas McShane. Book published: Berkely: University of California Press. 1996. 282 pp. Reviewed
by: Jason Wright (G14W1428)
The Myth of Wild Africa introduces one to the false, preconceived notion of Africa and Africa s
people that were around since the early 1900s. The book compares older, colonial methods of
conservation that were coercive and based on the myth , and newer Afrocentric conservation efforts
that are more objective and inclusive to the African people. The book emphasises that the inclusion of
African people is what will make African conservation successful. In the past, Africa as considered an
untouched paradise, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The book includes a clear outline of the history of conservation in Africa, coupled with stories of
Africans involved in conservation management. The authors explain the issues around African
conservation as well as including their own input and potential solutions. One of the main points
presented is that the myth that Africans and wildlife being incompatible must be broken. It is evident
that Africans are just as passionate about their wildlife like the rest of the world and the authors try to
bring this across to the rest of the world. However, conservationists must make sure that rural people
are acknowledged and that they engage in conservation efforts to make sure projects are successful.
Due to the age of the book, several issues are more prominent than others, such as habitat loss and
overpopulation, and that the solutions to these issues will have changed with the development of
technology. Public awareness and the education of issues are now more achievable and effective due
to the advancement in communication in the form of social media and the fact many Africans own a
mobile phones. The involvement of local communities will always be important in conservation and
most of the points brought across in the book about the past will remain relevant. An update or a
companion book including discussions of new issues threats

What are the main similarities and differences between the presentation of forbidden love in 1984 and Romeo and Juliet? Relate briefly to the contexts of both texts. Paragraph 1 Why does Romeo love Juliet? Why does Winston love Julia? Look at how Romeo is attracted to Juliet for being beautiful and compare it to how Winston loves Julia for her lack of purity. • 4. The, Gender, And Race Intersectionality is the practice (law) of looking at the overlap of a gender and race regarding an individual. In most practices before intersectionality it was common practice in law to group a gender together or an one race together in belief that they all had the same struggle and searched for the same outcome. Which was misguided and instead of handling one gender or race for instance (black people as a whole) looking at someone s gender and race as a package (black women not just all women). This new practice of intersectionality is done because the needs of someone may be more specific to their race or gender but the combination of both race and gender. For instance, looking at the rape of women needless to say these women have been subjected to both of crime and sexism. Intersectionality will point out that there may be needs that should be addressed regarding the rape depending on if that individual has overlap does implementing intersectionality. For example, women of color being raped may also have to deal with racism. The idea here is not just to work towards ending sexism but sexism (if you group all women together) but to also end racism. If the law only looks at one of the overlapping elements gender or race and not the both of them then maybe only some problems are addressed and e extinguished. 1 The last line in the introductory chapter of The Matter of Whiteness written by Richard Dyer. Another way for a supernova to be created, is when a white dwarf siphons off hydrogen from another star to the point where it will become unstable and explode. What is left after the huge explosion is another dwarf star, a neutron star, or the fierce black hole. A neutron star is about the size of a city like Los Angeles, but has the mass of about two suns. This means it is incredibly dense and has an unbelievable gravitational pull, almost 2 billion times that on earth. In fact, this pull is so strong that it bends radiation and allows astronomers to see the back of the star. They also spin up to 48 thousand times per minute due to the energy from the supernova. ... This magnetic field is the strongest known field in the universe and is so powerful it can change the shape of an atom. It also causes starquakes on the surface of the neutron star which will displace enormous amounts of radiation. • 7. Harriet Tubman s Journeys In The Film The Power Of Good According to the Cambridge English Dictionary, a rescuer is a person that saves someone or something from a dangerous, harmful, or difficult situation. In the documentary, The Power of Good, Nicholas Winton, a British humanitarian, organized the transport and rescue of Jewish children from Czechoslovakia right before World War II. This operation was later known as the Czech Kindertransport. Another historical figure who saved people from harm was Harriet Tubman, an African American abolitionist who led enslaved people to freedom along the Underground Railroad, a vast network of meeting places, secret routes, passageways and safe houses used by slaves in the U.S. to escape bondage. Rather than staying in the safety of the North, Tubman made it her mission to rescue other slaves from bondage. However, in 1850, the Fugitive Slave Law was passed that stated that escaped slaves could be captured in the North and be returned to slavery. This made Tubman re routed the Underground Railroad to Canada, which prohibited slavery. These journeys were usually during the winter months to minimize the likelihood of being seen. Tubman also carried a rifle for protection and to ensure that her escapees would not lose their nerve. From 1850 to 1860, Tubman rescued an estimated 70 slaves in thirteen expeditions and gave an additional 50 to 60 fugitives successful instructions on how to escape, earning her the nickname the Moses of the Underground Railroad. Nicholas Winton s rescue missions were very different than those of Harriet Tubman. In December 1938, Winton visited a friend who was working with primarily Jewish, Czechoslovakian refugees in Sudetenland, the western area of Czechoslovakia under German control, when he heard that there were no organizations to deal with refugee children. He began writing letters asking governments to help these children, but only Britain and Sweden agreed to support him. Winton, along with some volunteers, forged travel documents, arranged foster parents for the children, and paid out of pocket for the transportation. The children boarded trains from Prague, Czechoslovakia across Germany to the Atlantic Coast. Then, they were transported across the English Channel to Britain where foster parents waited to pick up the children. After the children arrived in Britain, Winton had no contact with them. His rescue efforts ended on September 1, 1939, after Germany invaded Poland and closed off all borders under German control, starting World War II. • 8. Leadership Theory Analysis And Application Leadership Theory Analysis and Application There are many different leadership theories that have been proposed, tested, and studied over the years. Many organizations utilize these theories and practices to collect and analyze data within their own organizations which may allow them to find ways of increasing the effectiveness of their company. Although there are not any theories deemed completely perfect in leadership, many have been given lots of validity based on the and studies done involving them. This paper will analyze and discuss different leadership theories including; the contingency theory, the transformational theory, and the leader member exchange theory. This paper will also discuss the most effective leadership theory in a current organization. Contingency Theory The Contingency Theory is a theory based on the notion that the effectiveness of a leader is correlated with the leadership style of that leader and the situation in which they are presented with (Northouse, 2013). Contingency theory suggests that there are two different leadership styles, one is relationship motivated, and the other is task motivated. These styles are measured by the LPC (least preferred coworker) scale created by Fiedler, which gives the leaders a score. The leaders that score low on the scale are considered to be task motivated leaders, while the ones that score high are considered to be relationship motivated (Northouse, 2013). My parents started a theatre company with other military and US teachers. From the ages of 4 9, I got to play small roles or work backstage on plays ranging from Shakespeare to Neil Simon. Where did you study and how long did it take? In Undergrad, I majored in theatre and opera. Immediately after graduating I continued my studies in theatre and opera performance in graduate school. The overall time in University was 7 years. After Graduate school, I continued to train as an actor in NYC for three years at Terry Schreiber Studios. How about your time on television, how did it differ from your theatre experience? This line is referring to the life of the main character, Okonkwo, who struggles with an internal fear throughout the book. This line from the story, in my opinion, for shadows a lot of themes and motives that take place through out the story. Most specifically I think this line can be applied to the theme of gender that is pushed during the entirety of the book. Gender plays a big role within the tribes and within Okonkwo s life, I say this because most things that Okonkwo does or events that take place in the tribe have some aspect of a gender role applied to them. This idea of gender roles ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With all of this being said about gender roles I believe that the line his whole life was dominated by fear, the fear of failure and of weakness points to the idea that Okonkwo saw it as a failure and a weakness to show emotion and to show a feminine side. Okonkwo wants to project this hyper masculine self and reject anything feminine leaving him with imbalances. When I say imbalances I mean things like that fact that he beats his wife and alienates his sons. I believe that the overall fear of being feminine stems from the fear of being like his father, who was considered a weak man. Continuing with the line his whole life was dominated by fear, the fear of failure and of weakness , Okonkwo is overcome with the fear of becoming his father, who is considered a weak and lazy man. Okonkwo lets this fear overcome him and causes him to project the hyper masculine tendencies that he displays. The fear of being weak and lazy pushed him to the point that he takes part in the murder of his adopted son, Ikemefuna. Okonkwo s inability to let go of this fear ultimately leads him to his own ... In the Aneid, Virgil presents Aeneas as the leader of the Trojan who can mostly control his emotion and follows God s prophecy to fulfill his fate. Similarly, in the Gospel According to Mark, Mark portrays Jesus as the leader of a new religion who seems never fail to control his emotion. However, both Aeneas and Jesus do sometimes fail to control their emotions. In fact, Aeneas has little control over his emotion when he tries to revenge for Pallas or he is intervened by Juno; both Aeneas and Jesus cannot control their emotion in facing the threat of death. To revenge for his companion, Aeneas fails to control his anger. What Does Bourdieu s Thinking Tools Mean Bourdieu s Thinking Tools Explain in writing each concept in your own words Pierre Bourdieu is a French sociologist who approaches the notion of power via a theory of society. In contrast, working class with less capital now move into the previous positions acquired by those with high volumes of capital.
