Women And Queen Guenevere And The Wife Of Bath s Tale
Throughout history, women have drastically changed ever since the Middle Ages to present day.
Women from the medieval times weren t able to do what men are doing now: work because there
are some women that look up to a man s lifestyle. Before the time of having their own rights, they
were often expected to do womanly duties: clean, cook, pleasure their husband, etc. However, in the
case of Queen Guenevere and The Wife, the two ladies were very loving and independent during
their time. A women from the medieval times, who is known as The Wife from a poem called

Queen not knowing that Sir Lancelot was fooling around with other ladies was to save himself
from being caught by the King. Little did she know that Lancelot was doing this to divert
attention from their affair. This describes Queen Guenevere as an adultery, but was still royal to
Sir Lancelot. So much of her petty and jealously grew since then. Both women were very
vulnerable to men but still remained loyal to them even though their needs weren t meant to be,
and also, by having different viewpoints on being a good spouse. For Queen Guenevere, she
was faithful, rich and, a jealous person that truly loved the man of her life, Sir Lancelot. Then, as
the book saith, Sir Lancelot began to resort unto Queen Guenevere again, and forgat the promise
and the perfection that he made in the quest. For, as the book saith, had not Sir Lancelot been in
his privy thoughts and in his mind so set inwardly to the queen as he was in seeming outward to
God, there had no knight passed him in the quest of the Sangreal; but ever his thoughts were
privily on the queen, and so they loved together more hotter than they did to forehand, and had
such privy thoughts together... (Bk.18, C.1, l.6 11). Although, with his flirtation with many
women, he was trying to avoid drama with the King; still ended up fighting each other for the
Queen. As for The Wife , she married her five husbands to be happy. If not, a lesson we will have to

Friedan And The Feminine Mystique By Betty Friedan
Feminism is the fight for equality between the sexes. It can be dated back to the mid 19th century
with women like Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Susan B. Anthony. The first wave feminist procured
the right to vote for American women. The following second and third waves built upon what the
founding feminists created. The second wave of feminismwas set off by the disenchantment women
across America were experiencing. This disenchantment was caused by the nuclear family and the
roles that the women in the 1950s were thrust into. The second wave is said to have lasted from
the 1960s 1980s. Sometime after the 1980s, most likely the early to mid 1990s, third wave
feminists began to rear their heads. The third wave built upon the advancements made... Show more

Johnson signed the Civil Rights Act of 1964. After the creation of the National Organization for
Women (NOW), an executive order was issued by LBJ to include sex in affirmative action. And
in 1973 Roe V. Wade occurred, this case made first trimester abortions legal. All of these events
show that the second wave of feminism raged war on many institutions. What began as a
crusade to make women aware turned into a massive revolution. The third wave of feminism
began sometime in the 1990s. This was when the Riot Grrrl was taking over Washington state.
And a woman named Anita Hill was waging a battle against her sexual assaulter, Clarence
Thomas a Supreme Court nominee, in court. The court ruled in favor of Thomas. These events
worked as a catalyst for the third wave. The third wave focused on ensuring that the
accomplishments made by the second wave were not taken for granted. The women involved in
the third wave viewed race, transgender rights, sexual liberation, and social class as their central
issues. Third wave feminist wanted each and every woman to have a say when it came to their
body. They rebelled against the attempted passage of North Dakota s complete ban on abortion and
the United States Supreme Courts efforts to uphold the partial birth ban. The third wave was also
viewed as more open. Their concentration shifted to being an activist group that was more
openminded to how women could dress and act. Their view was that the more they tried to control

Life of a Teenager
The Effects of Teenage Relationships Different relationships affect teenagers in various ways.
Friends impact teenagers almost the same amount as their parents. Teenagers go to their friends
for help or to ask questions that they could not ask their parents about. Most of the time their
friends give them good advice but then there is the down side when they put pressure on their
friends to do something like to smoke, drink, and do drugs. In most cases they tell their friends
how to dress and act when around certain people. Love relationships just make it even harder for a
teenager to get a good education. Some start to fail in school because they are hanging out with
their boyfriend or girlfriend instead of doing their work. Throughout... Show more content on

Close family ties are an important bond for each member of the family. A guy who wants to date
a girl must ask for her parents permission. In case no permission is granted, it is highly unlikely
for the date to actually happen, unless in some cases that the girl and guy sneak out and date out
secretly. However, this is morally unacceptable in Philippine culture. Filipino parents are very
strict with their children having romantic relationships. Brothers are generally protective of their
sisters. Even cousins and other relatives are protective of their young female cousins and
relatives. They become more lenient when their daughters, sisters and relatives reach the legal
age of 18. When picking up the girl at her home for a date, it is common to provide gifts to the
family members (parents, grandparents and siblings) as well. Parents usually want to have
some conversation with the guy and ask about his family and educational background before
they can go out for a date. First Date The first date is officially a time to get to know each other.
The couple ask about each other s backgrounds and it is highly unlikely to have a passionate kiss
after the date. Some girls allow a kiss on the cheek after the first date, but this varies per person
and per couple. Some guys don t even get the chance to hold the hand of their conservative dates.
However, the more liberal females are more open to

1.1 Cultural Considerations of the Electric Car
We have the desire to create a new form of technology and get away from gasoline cars. Electric
cars are the future in transportation and will pave the way for the auto industry in years to come.
Even though we have not seen the results we need in production, costs, and technology, people
are positive they will soon catch on. In this paper I will discuss the cultural considerations of the
electric car. I will compare the United States use of technology with other nations around the world
such as China. When comparing them, I will cover the main sources of the technology for present
electric cars and also the production. I will review America s innovation and motivation in
pursuing the electric car. Based on that I will name some leading car brands

Much Ado About Nothing Patriarchy
Undoubtedly, conventional beliefs during the Renaissance supported unchallenged patriarchal rule.
Men prescribed obedience and domesticity for women as a strategic method of preserving men s
limitless power, and this often times translated into the contemporary writing of the time. In
William Shakespeare s Much Ado About Nothing, patriarchy reveals itself as a dominant theme
throughout the play. Antonio, the brother of Leonato, says to one the play s female protagonists,
Well, niece, I trust you will be ruled by your father, (II.i.47 48). As a clear indication of male
dominance and the expectation of female adherence to regressive social norms, this later shows that
Much Ado About Nothing enacts the disastrous effects of placing strict limitations on women and
empowering men with unquestionable authority simply because of their sex. In... Show more

She refuses to Don John s naturalization of Hero to the stereotype of whore, but she is not able
to triumph over the male authority of Don John. This would later cause her to demand Benedick
to Kill Claudio, (IV.i.285). In a world where the words of women are not acknowledged and
where power resides in the hands of men, the socially superior voices of men can be countered
not by the speaking of women but by the violence of a sword. Beatrice s role in the play is one
that challenges long established notions of male dominated society. She is a strong woman who
is not afraid to speak her mind, and is not the traditional woman, especially in Shakespeare s
society. Beatrice is not sound in the establishments of marriage and would preferably lead a life as
an unmarried woman than to be binded to a man she can barely tolerate just because she is

Essay On Goneril In King Lear
Goneril in King Lear perfectly exemplifies with this quote how being overly credulous can lead
to the downfall of a character. Trust is a complicated issue; people want to believe what others say,
and yet it becomes harder to believe as they are let down time and time again. It also manifests
itself in many forms, such as mistrust of self or mistrust of others. Trustis a common thread
throughout all human history, and yet it has continually proved to be the downfall of everything
ranging from great empires to even the smallest of relationships. King Leargives insight into all
these themes, with characters mistrusting themselves, mistrusting each other, and the downfall of
as something as large as a kingdom and as small as half of a family. From the start, the play
presents a man with the most powerful title King Lear himself being confused by trust. Riddled
with lapses of dementia in his old age, he invents a little game to divide his kingdom, where his
daughters profess their love to him to earn their fair share of the land. Lear fools himself into
believing that his two eldest daughters love him, and is incredulous to find out that his favorite
daughter does not profess her love as grandly as the other two did. Lear continually fools himself
into trusting his daughters, when he tries to visit Goneril, keep his knights, and resorting to visiting
Regan. His dementia has brought him to the point where he wants to trust those close to him, but in
the end, he is the

The Essential Compound of Water on Earth
Formed by two bonded hydrogens and an oxygen atom it is the second most essential compound
to life on Earth, water. However, less than four percent of it is available for human consumption; it
may be found in a liquid state or as water vapor within the atmosphere. As society progresses in
becoming more populous and industrialized so does the demand for fresh water, thus scientists
have and continue to experiment with adding particles to clouds in order to aid in creating
precipitation. In nature, water continuously moves between the Earth and atmosphere through a
process known as the hydrologic cycle. Evaporation and transportation cause water to rise, as
warm air rises it becomes cooler and causes condensation, the droplets increase in size until the
upward movement of air cannot support it (nucleation), and thus falls to the ground. It should be
noted that warm air has the ability to hold more vapor than cold air and cloud formation occurs
due to air becoming supersaturated. Conversely, nucleation does not always occur due to the cloud
not being cold enough, we are then introduced to the process of cloud seeding(Lenschow).
The inorganic compound silver iodide (AgI) is sprayed or launched into the atmosphere as tiny
particles that attract water molecules causing them to nucleate and fall to the ground as
precipitation. Cloud seeding started it s formation when Vincent Schaefer, a self taught chemist in
New York, attempted to get artificial clouds to produce

Rhetorical Devices In Ebb And Flow By Edward Taylor
Edward Taylor was one of the most famous poets born in England. Taylor was influenced to write
by religion, and it s evident in his poem Ebb and Flow . Taylor illustrates, through the use of
rhetorical devices, the fear that the fire inside his heart has burned out, and the hope that, through
God s grace, his affections will be ignited once again. Taylor uses the rhetorical device of diction to
illustrate how the fire in his heart is slowly burning out. At first in the poem, Taylor has a strong
connection to God. In the first line, Taylor says, When first Thou on me, Lord, wroughtest Thy
sweet print, (Taylor). In this line it s made clear that Taylor is engaged by God s loveand authority.
Then in verse two, Taylor beings to question his relationship with God. In line eleven, Taylor talks
about how his heart is lacking of affections, making the fire in his heart burnout. I find my... Show

Taylor uses a metaphor in line two stating, My heart was made Thy tinder box, . Taylor compares
his heart to a tinderbox as it is soft and fragile . This line show Taylor s strict connection to God.
He is ready to be ignited by a spark that will come from God and has hope that his heart will be
ignited once again. In line three he also uses a metaphor stating, My ffections were Thy tinder in
t, (Taylor). Taylor compares his affections to tinder that sits inside his heart. He has a lot of
affections and has no doubts in God as he feels the fire burning inside him. All of this is
illustrated by imagery on lines five and six when he states, Those holy sparks of heavenly fire
that came Did ever catch and often out would flame. (Taylor). These lines clearly illustrate how
his heart would be flamed by the spark of God. These three quotes allow the reader to really
picture how his heart is ignited by the spark of God that looks down upon

Buckner Harold Analysis
Dear Editor of the Buckner Harold, Buckner s issue that is plaguing its teenagers is that there is
nothing for them to do, when teenagers get bored they can get very destructive the best way to
counter this is to have something for teenagers to do that they like. Buckner is a small town with
not a lot to do for anyone, but the teenagers really get the short end of the stick. Presently there
are playgrounds for younger and smaller kids to play on, and there is a bar and restaurants for
adults, but nothing for teenagers. As of right now there is a small skateboard park put in almost
ten years ago. As with anything built almost ten years ago the skateboard park is getting older and

There are so many destructive choices that teenagers make when they have nothing to keep their
minds occupied. Some of the different choices teenagers have made when bored are vandalism,
speeding while driving, reckless endangerment, smoking, drugs like marijuana, Amphetamines,
Adderall, Opioid painkillers, Synthetic marijuana, Tranquilizers, Cough medicine, Vicodin,
Hallucinogens, OxyContin, Sedatives, Ecstasy (MDMA), LSD, Cocaine, Ritalin, Inhalants, and
Salvia as well as drinking alcoholic beverages while definitely under age. The CDC says that
people from the ages of 12 to 20 make up 11 percent of all alcohol consumed in the United States.
Federal law in the United States says that you must be 21 or older to consume alcohol or any
sort. That 11 percent may not seem so huge when you consider all of the alcohol being consumed
by the United States each year, but remember that 11 percent are all teens and kids under the
legal drinking age. However drinking is not the only path teenagers can choose out of boredom.
Teenagers are also turning to drugs of all sorts no matter what kind of drug it is. As a matter of
fact it is estimated that 3,300 try marijuana for the first time every day in the United States alone.
A study has done that found that 12th graders who smoke marijuana are 65 percent more likely to
get in a car accident. In addition 51.7 teenagers 10th grade through 12th grade have smoked pot
sometime between the last month to the last year. Furthermore though marijuana is not the only
drug that teenagers are using there is also cocaine and heroin. As a matter of fact 2.5 percent of
teens have been caught up in cocaine use of some sort. On top of that did you know that the
average treatment age for a heroin addiction is 23 is most people getting addicted in their teens.
Regrettably another serious issue that costs hundreds of lives a

The Legend Of The Sleepy Hollow By Washington Irving
The Legend of the Sleepy Hollow by Washington Irving is a tale of supernaturalism written in
Nineteenth Century America during a time when American literature was not yet fully established.
Irving wrote this story with multiple historical events in mind and presents a legend full of
problematic ideas of wealth, greed and rejection. Amongst many other literary elements, Irving
uses the American setting and Sleepy Hollow itself throughout in relation to the development of
the story. The setting in relation to the characters is also an important factor that establishes the
mood for this creepy, supernatural legend. The location of Sleepy Hollow is the basis of the
setting and is influenced by a full range of historical facts and events. This instantly creates a
frame of mind for the readers and prepares them for certain themes. The city of Sleepy Hollow and
its name at first glance describe the story in general very well. Lastly, the setting impacts the
characters throughout and directs the way the characters should be. Without the heavy description
and use of setting, the mood in this story would not be so well founded and the context not as
impactful. The Legend of Sleepy Hollowwould not be the supernatural tale it is without Irving s
focus on the setting.
The location of Sleepy Hollow in the United States is the main setting and impacts the story
dramatically, straight from the beginning to the end. As a reader, it is set from the first sentence
that Sleepy Hollow is

Waverly Leonard
Part I Reading Journal, ch.s 1 13
Plot Summary:
These first thirteen chapters chronicle the daily life of Edna Pontellier, The Awakening s
protagonist. The novel opens on Mr. Pontellier; he is smoking a cigar and reading the newspaper
while idly observing the life and activity around him. The novel turns its attention to his wife, Edna
Pontellier. She is described as rather handsome than beautiful and has a face with a certain
frankness of expression, an intriguing description if there ever was one. She is accompanied by
Robert Lebrun, the son of Madame Lebrun, the owner of the house at which the Creole aristocracy
stayed on the Grand Isle. They are rather close companions; Robert has chosen to follow her
around for the summer, as is later revealed to be his custom. It s revealed that Edna is an
American woman from the old Kentucky bluegrass country. As the day progresses, Chopin details
the tiny minutiae of married life that have disappointed both Leonce and Edna; Leonce feels hurt
by her dismissiveness He thought it very discouraging that his wife, who was the sole object of his
existence, evinced so little interest in things which concerned him, and valued so little his
conversation... while Edna resents his overbearing conventionality An indescribable oppression,
which seemed to generate in some unfamiliar part of her consciousness, filled her whole being
with a vague anguish. The Pontelliers reconcile before Leonce leaves for New Orleans

Orville and Wilbur Wright are two icons that are recognisable to world of aviation for their big
contribution to the aviation industry. Orville and Wilbur are two American brothers who both

Factors That Affect The Productivity Of Agricultural Crops
V. DISCUSSION
Abiotic stresses affect the productivity of agricultural crops in different ways and increased
incidence of abiotic stresses has become major cause for reduction in crop productivity. Heat
stress is often defined as the rise in temperature beyond a threshold level for a period of time
sufficient to cause irreversible damage to plant growth and development. Heat stress due to high
ambient temperatures is a serious threat to crop production worldwide (Hall, 2001). Transitory or
constantly high temperatures cause an array of morpho anatomical, physiological and biochemical
changes in plants, which affect plant growth and development and may lead to a drastic reduction
in yield (Wahid et al., 2007). High temperature stress causes extensive denaturation and aggregation
of cellular proteins, which, if unchecked, lead to cell death. Heat response is characterized by
inhibition of normal transcription and translation, higher expression of heat shock proteins (HSP s)
and induction of thermo tolerance (Krishna 2003). Evolving efficient, low cost, easily adaptable
methods for the abiotic stress management is a major challenge. Worldwide, extensive research is
being carried out, to develop strategies to cope with abiotic stresses, through development of heat
and drought tolerant varieties by genetic engineering and breeding (Venkateswarlu and Shanker
2009). While most of these technologies are cost intensive, recent studies indicated the
microorganisms could play an

The Structure And Building Of Sophisticated Tunnels
In the mining world, there are three different types of tunnels. There are rudimentary,
interconnecting, and sophisticated but this paper will only focus on the structure and building of
sophisticated tunnels. Some features of a sophisticated tunnel are that it reach as deep as seventy
feet underground and tall and wide enough for an adult to walk through or for a mine cart to be
pushed through. When building these sophisticated tunnels, first the earth is chipped away by
handheld electric spades and the workers are filling sandbags with dirt and rocks in order to have
the clearest pathway in the tunnel. Then the rail systems tart to get set up where it s just a large
metal crate connected to an electric pulley system in order to get the sandbags with dirt and rocks
out of the tunnel.
A structural feature about these tunnels is that the ceiling would be slightly arched in order to
distribute the pressure and weight of the earth to prevent a collapse. Another feature of
sophisticated tunnels is the ventilation when a black plastic tubes connected by pipe clamps
would be affixed to the top of the tunnel in order to provide oxygen for the workers. The rail
system that was in sophisticated tunnels was two metal tracks that were laid down to bring debris
to the surface by the elevator in order to get it out of the way. In sophisticated tunnels, usually there
would be wood or concrete enforcement along the walls in order to prevent the tunnel from caving
in.

The Reality of Freedom During World War I
World War I a conflict within Europe impacted American society unimaginably. The changes that
occur have an impact on the individual and their freedom. During the war, freedom became
restricted; the effects remained reminiscent and lingered soon after. WWI restricted freedoms that
are the foundation of the United States. The United States showed contradictory actions; in which,
the freedom of speech is strictly limited. Even groups of individuals like German Americans were ...

In Foner 592). Words like Hamburger were changed to liberty sandwich and even classical music
from German origin became obsolete in American society (qtd. In Foner 592). German Americans
faced attacks on their culture from the United States and abroad in their homeland. Even with the
war over German Americans expected many things to back to normal. They expected the attack on
their culture to come to an end. However, that was not the case, in states like Nebraska it was
prohibited to teach the German language. This Nebraska state law impeached Americans from the
acquisition of knowledge just because they thought that learning German is regarded as harmful
(Meyer v. Nebraska 629). The fact that it was prohibited teaching in a language other than English
even after the war, showed how German Americans still experienced repression of freedom and their

Background
Play is an occupation in which all children should engage in to enhance development. Play should
be enjoyable, fun, impulsive and naturally motivating. When children engage in play, they are able
to discover their surrounding environments, experiment with ideas, and learn from experience
(Garvey, 1977; Rubin, Fein Vandenberg, 1983; Smith Vollstedt, 1985, as cited by Mastrangelo,
2009). Due to social, cognitive and emotional difficulties, children diagnosed with Autism

The difference is in how we relate to our sin and how we deal with it. Those in a covenant
relationship with God are those who walk in the ways of God. In the
Old Testament, one of the ways of such a walk, because of God s mercy, was to make animal
sacrifice for sin. In the New Testament, confessing one s sin to God is a part of walking in the
covenant ways of God (1 John 1:9). So then, when the believer sins it is not because he has turned
aside from God and is no longer walking in the way of God, backslidden in heart and filled with his
own ways, but rather because of the weakness of his flesh he may fall into sin. Yet he abhors his
sin, confesses it, and seeks to forsake it. If we define backsliding as individual acts of sin in the
believer s life we would rightly say that a believer, not only can, but will backslide. If

Since the late 19th century, China and Japan kept clashing constantly. On July 7, 1937, a warfare

Outline The Benefits Of Nutrition
In this speech, I will outline the job description, preparation, the advantages and disadvantages of a
career in Diet and Nutrition. Recent statistics published by the President s Council on Fitness,
Sports and Nutrition, indicate that more 12.5 million adults and children suffer from obesity in the
United States. By 2030, approximately 115 million adults are expected to be obese. This figure
represents nearly half of the adult population in America. To prevent the prevalence of obesity in
our nation, many individuals and businesses are hiring preventive health care professionals, such as

Yet while becoming a nutritionist is not without its drawbacks, here are a few cons to consider
before pursuing the path: In order to earn a nutritionist degree, you will spend a lot of time and a
significant amount of money on your education. The requirements for becoming a nutritionist

helping others achieve their health goals. Satisfying others and making them happy would be my
favorite part of the job. The worst part of the job would be the requirments to get the job and also

In order to isolate bacteriophage specific for Salmonella, we will following procedures below.
Firstly, we will inoculate 5 mL tryptic soy broth with Salmonella. Then we touch a colony of
Salmonella by using a sterile needle and transfer it to the tube consisting LB broth. After that, we
incubate the culture overnight at 37oC. The next day, we will inoculate another tube with 4.5 mL
of water sample that we take from poultry farm nearby that we suspect as source of Salmonella
contamination on the squid water farm. We also add 0.5 mL of overnight Salmonella culture and
0.5 mL of 10X tryptic soy broth. The mixture will be incubate for about 24 to 48 hours at 37oC.

A confluent lawn of bacteria will appear covering the agar. The phage will infect and kill the
bacteria in the center of the plate. This will creates a visible region of zero bacteria or also known
as plaque. Characterization of bacteriophage.
The next step is by extract individual plaque from the overlay agar medium by using a pipette.
The plaque expected to contain specific bacteriophage against Salmonella. So, the extracted
plaque will undergo several re culture processes with Salmonella. After we get the phages, we
need to do characterization by examine their morphology and doing staining process. In this
case, we use negative staining. In negative staining, we will place a single drop of nigrosin on a
clean microscope slide. By applying aseptic technique, we will transfer a little bit of our phage
from the plaque and mix it into the drop of nigrosin on the slide. Another microscope slide will be
used to spread out the drop into a film. Air dry the film and observe the slide under microscope
according to correct techniques.
High purity of bacteriophage preparation can be obtained by using ion exchange chromatography,
high speed centrifugation and other modern purification. Besides, we also can use advanced
purification techniques to purify phages and to ensure that they are free form unwanted bacteria.
We will determine the viability and titer of phages before using them therapeutically.

The Pros And Cons Of A Charismatic Leader
When we think we meet a charismatic person, what do we actually mean by charismatic? Who s
the most charismatic individual we ve ever met? And is a person still charismatic once we know
them intimately or is charisma reserved to distant leaders? All these questions lead us to a positive
connotation of the word charisma: the charismatic person is impressive in its speeches and the
image it leaves in the audience s mind.
The Oxford dictionary defines charisma as a compelling attractiveness or charm that can inspire
devotion in others. Yet, to describe the leadershipof politicians such as Stalin and Hitler in the
21st century, we have no other way than to be horrified by their actions. Thus, in my exposГ©, I

Hitler also fostered anti semitism by blaming Jews as the reason why Germany lost the 1914 1918
war. Once more, Hitler used the scapegoating of the Jews by the middle class, but brought it to a
more intense level, charging the Jews with all the wrongs of Germany. Stalin s cult of personality
Stalin s approach was to appear as a Godlike figure to its citizens. The great strength of Stalin was
to be seen as heroic, although he murdered hundreds of Soviets.
His approach is very different from Hitler s in the sense that he did not appear as a fighter but
rather as a protector. His alias, Father of Nations, conveys this idea of a reachable patron. He was
also referred to as Comrade Stalin, which sets him on an equal footing with the Soviets, whereas
Hitler s leadership was marked by a greater hierarchy, as illustrates his nickname FГјhrer (the

Essay on Two Party System in Democracy
Does a two party system help or harm democracy?
A two party system is a form of party system where two major political parties dominate voting in
nearly all elections. As a result, all, or nearly all, elected offices end up being held by candidates
chosen by one of the two major parties. Under a two party system, one of the two parties typically
holds a majority in the legislature and is usually referred to as the majority party while the other is
the minority party. The United States of America is considered a two party system. The chances for
third party candidates winning election to any office are remote, although it s possible for groups

A two party system is strong and influential although it allows lesser parties to exist and have an
influence. As a result a majority party will form the government and the minority party will
form the opposition, and coalitions of the lesser parties are possible. These systems can also be
multi party systems. The Two party sytem has advantages and disadvantages they consist of:
Advantages,: It can lead to political stability which leads, in turn, to economic growth, two party
systems have been seen as preferable to multi party systems because they are simple to govern,
while multi party systems can sometimes lead to parliament. The disadvantages: Two party
systems have been criticized extreme views, and putting a second opinion on debate within a
nation, two party systems for fail to provide enough options since only two choices are permitted
on the ballot, the problem with having only two parties is that the nation loses the ability for
things to bubble up from the body politic and give voice to things that aren t being voiced by the
major parties. Multi party governments permit wider and more diverse viewpoints in government,
and encourage dominant parties to make deals with weaker parties to form winning coalitions. I
think having a two party system is ideal because neither major party is strong enough to win without
bringing up specific topics that they believe in or their ideology of their party. The way the

Family Structures And The Family Structure Essay
It is commonly accepted in contemporary society that family structures are defined as being either
a nuclear family, or one that strays away from that. According to Dalton Conley in the fourth
edition of You May Ask Yourself, the nuclear family is defined as a familial form consisting of a
father, a mother, and their children (453). By definition and contemporary societal norms, my family
would be categorized as abnormal or different. Having been raised in an apartment in the Bronx,
New York with only my mother, I have a different idea of what normal familial structures tend to
be. Despite being brought up in a home with a single mother, I have a vivid recollection of those
in my hometown being raised in very similar circumstances. Similarly, it seems everyone around
me had the same sort of familial story : raised by one parent, occasionally spoke to your parents
siblings and hung out with your first cousins, have a crazy uncle. To people of different
demographics than myself and my family, these characteristics may appear to be unfamiliar and
atypical, however, to me they are what amalgamate to create the urban version of the nuclear
family. The traditional stereotype is that mother s hold families together. According to page 461 in
Conley s You May Ask Yourself, families changed drastically after World War II in that the mother
became more active in the workforce and contributed to the economic well being of their family.
But even before this shift, women tended to the

Germany as a Victim
On the 16th June the German government, lead by Count Brockdorff Rantzau, were presented
with the Treaty of Versailles. They were originally given 14, and then 21 days, to agree to it. The
treaty, which included some 440 Articles, was not as vindictive as Clemenceau had wanted nor as
moderate as Lloyd George would have wished. It certainly fell far short of the conciliatory features
of Wilson s fourteen point proposals. (Evans and Jenkins) However, in order to decipher whether

The most obvious term was the return of Alsace Lorraine to France. Schleswig was also returned
to Denmark after it had been annexed by Bismark. Also Eupen and Malmedy were to go to
Belgium. This act is thought to be justified by the fact that much of Belgiums industry was

to be overseen by the League of Nations, the Saar coalfield by France, for fifteen years. This
amounted to 13% of German territory and 12% of the population half of which were ethnic

Most Valuable Experience for Odysseus Essay
Helios and the cattle Every second and every moment is eventually going to prove valuable for
the future. In The Odyssey written by Homer, Odysseus, the weathered hero, gains valuable
lessons learned in experiences since his departure from Troy. These priceless lessons will help
him accomplish his ultimate goal in defeating the parasitic suitors that plague his home. One
experience Odysseus endures is the encounter of Helios cattle. The prophet Tiresias foretold, harm
them [the cattle] in any way, and I can see it now: your ship destroyed, your men destroyed as well

In addition, Odysseus learns from Helios island to exercise self restraint. Odysseus learns this
lesson when he watches his men forget about his word and give into to their hunger. The
mutinous Eurylocous tries to justify the slaughter of cows by saying, If we ever make it home
to Ithaca, native ground, erect at once a glorious temple of the Sungod, (12.182). If the men
exercised self restraint things would have turned out better for both the crew and Odysseus.
Great Odysseus will use this lesson to help win the fight against the suitors. Odysseus shows
great self restraint when Antinous, the lead suitor, seized a stool and hurled it Square in the
back it struck Odysseus (17.510). Odysseus mind was churning with thoughts of bloody work.
(17.515). However, seeing the circumstances, if he was to kill the Antinous on the spot, all his
plans for the future would be destroyed. Odysseus learned lesson of self restraint helped him
tremendously from acting out in a rash manner. Furthermore, Odysseus learns that temptation
leads to demise. Odysseus learns this lesson on Helios island when his crew desires something
that isn t theirs. Odysseus said, Friends, we ve food and drink aplenty aboard the ship keep your
hands off all these herds or we will pay the price. (12.347). Even though the crew has no need for
the cattle, the treacherous crowd violates a perfectly rational statement. Their offence is paid with
their lives. Odysseus will use this lesson in book 19

Liberal Party Ideology
During the 2015 Canadian federal election campaign, Justin Trudeau s Liberal Party took policy
positions that were furthest to the political left compared to the other two main parties, the
Conservative Party and the New Democratic Party (NDP). In an effort to appeal to traditional
liberal supporters as well as voters who traditionally identify with the NDP, the Liberal Party
adopted a reform liberal economic agenda and social democratic policies. Conversely, Thomas
Mulcair, the leader of the NDP, embraced a campaign platform to the right of the Liberals. In
particular, the NDP s agenda blended neo liberal economic policies with moderate conservative
social policies. Stephen Harper s Conservative Party adopted policies that were similar to the
ideologies of the New Right, which embodies neo liberal economic policies and conservative
social policies. This essay will argue that the ideological similarities between the Conservatives and

Evidence Informed Practice On Facilitating Learning
Evidence informed practice in facilitating learning
Introduction
This paper will seek to explore the literature surrounding the diverse debate and narratives which
have defined the body of academic research surrounding facilitating learning and the centrality of
evidence informed practice. There has been a diverse shift in focus between the domains of research
and practice. Therefore, this paper will endeavour to ascertain key developments in order to
nurture a strong awareness of the available research. The intellectual genesis of this analysis
surrounds the work of a British academic, Professor David Hargreaves, who elucidated a new
concept of educational research. Hargreaves believed, ?teaching is not at present a research based
profession? (Hargreaves, 1996). The intellectual foundations of research principles in the delivery
of education are an important dynamic. This paper, therefore, will outline the academic journey of
this progression.
Literature Review ? Evidence Informed Practice in Facilitating Learning
The purpose of the literature evaluation is to explore the wider academic landscape surrounding the
research question in order to develop an understanding of the evolution of current themes and
narratives in the education sector involving facilitating learning outcomes and the evidence based
process behind this objective.

North Carolina And South Carolina
Moving to North Carolina In different parts of the world, people do things differently. Someone
from the United States is not going to say hi the same way someone in Europe will. In the
United States people from New York are not going to be the same as people from North Carolina.
This was a big change for me when I moved from New York to North Carolina. People in the south
have a different dialect than from people in New York. When I first moved to North Carolina it
was a different place. I was used to the buildings and the busy highways, and when I moved here
it was nothing like that, it was very open with farms and golf courses. The surroundings were not
the only thing that changed people from the south were completely different. The first couple of
weeks living here, I just thought that people did not know how to speak. I was thirteen at the time
and I was very ignorant. I thought people in North Carolina were just stupid. I remember walking
into a Walmart and buying a few items, then checkout. The cashier was a big old women with short
black hair. She said, Your change is eight dollars and fifty two cents.
I just looked at that women and thought she was from a different country, she did not sound like
me at all. I asked my mom when I got to the car. What did that women say? she replied, Honey, she
was just telling me my change.
I looked at my mom with big eyes, and then I started to laugh. My mom joined me, but I do not
think she had a clue what I was

Endo Reaction Lab Report
The mechanism, figure 5, shows the attack from the bottom face due to the steric hindrance of the
isopropyl group in regards to the top face. The reaction is an example of a normal Diels Alder
cycloaddition. This is the 4 ПЂ + 2 ПЂ cycloaddition through the interaction of the HOMO of the
diene and the LUMO of the dienophile. This reaction was done at relatively low temperatures as
the dry ether has a boiling point of 34.6 В°C. At low temperature the endo preference predominates
unless there is extreme steric hindrance, which in this case there is not. The endo product forms
almost exclusively because of the activation barrier for endo being much lower than for exo. This

Compare And Contrast Frederick Douglas And Chief Seattle
Mrs. Lyons Frederick Douglass vs. Chief Seattle Frederick Douglas and Chief Seattle both
experienced disadvantages because of their race and culture around the years 1850 1855.
Frederick Douglass was a former slave abolitionist who fought to change America and the
Africans who were enslaved in it. Chief Seattle was the leader of the Suquamish Tribe and he
too was determined to change the citizen s perspective about how his people were being treated.
Both authors wrote compelling letters/speeches to the President to convince him and the
citizens to spark change for their race by using pathos, description, and cause/effect in their
dialogue. Douglass and Seattle use pathos to evoke a certain emotion out of the reader in order
to make them feel the same way as they do. Douglass uses examples to stir emotion. He says,
What am I to argue that it is wrong to make men brutes, to rob them of their liberty, to work them
without wages, to keep them ignorant of their relations to their fellow men, to beat them with
sticks... Douglass continues on with more examples highlighting the injustice to draw an
emotion out of the reader. Chief Seattle uses pathos but in a different way. Instead of pulling
examples from the past, he foreshadows to future problems that could occur. He says, All things
are connected. Whatever befalls the earth befalls the sons of the earth. Seattle also uses religion.
Our God is the same God. You may think that you own him as you wish to own our land, but you
cannot. When religion is placed in the mix, emotions stir; it becomes more personal to the
reader because they can relate on a certain level. In order to get their points across effectively and
proficiently, Douglass and Seattle used description. Both authors use description to help the
reader form an image in their mind. This tool helps the writer create a connection with the reader
with the use of details. Frederick Douglass describes in detail the wrongs he and his people
experienced through slavery. He says, What, to the American slave, is your 4th of July? I answer; a
day that reveals to him, more than all other days in the year, the gross injustice and cruelty to which
he is the constant victim. It s essential that Douglass uses

Affordable Housing Crisis Research Paper
An Overview of Affordability Housing Crisis in the US
This research paper intends to navigate its focus on a current social issue over the shortage of
affordable housing in the United States. The affordable housing becomes a concern for the
society as there is a group of influential people raises their concern over the housing market to the
public. In an effort to generate public attention, Laura Kusisto who is a US housing and economic
reporter claims that Americans are now on the edge of next housing crisis in her column on The
Wall Street Journal (2018). Her claim is supported by the statistic generated by the Federal
Reserve Bank of Kansas City on the rate of home construction per household as it was reaching a
historical low in the past ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The parallel finding suggests that there are nearly 19 million American households spend more than
half of their income streams on housing in which comprises for more than 40% of the rental
community within the States (2017). Notwithstanding the fact that 30 percent of income is applied
widely as the golden standard measure of affordability, the study indicates that roughly half of the
renting households are in fact spending more on housing than they could afford (2017). Parallel
findings have been reported in a Harvard study which indicates that the housing problem becomes
more critical in larger metropolitan areas such as San Francisco and New York, where only 25% of
the residents can afford the housing (GSD News, 2017). The study suggests that the housing
problem in the States will continue to deteriorate attributing to the soaring demands from the
millennial generation as they are moving away from their parent s houses and in search for more
personal spaces (2017). With that being said, Sarah Holder asserts that the households who have
low and medium income might be the groups most vulnerable to the housing affordability crisis as
the cumulative shortage of housing persist (2018). Her claim is built upon the annual report
released by the National Low Income Housing Coalition which entails the fact that the affordable

ynopsis:
The SVU begin work on a case in which a leader of the #BlackLivesMatter movement is sexually
assaulted the day after a massive protest following the Grand Jury decisision not to indict the
police officers charged with the death of Eric Garner. The case takes a twist when it is discovered
that the leader who was assaulted is actually Fin Tutuola s son Ken s boyfriend. In Act 1 of our A
plot, Detectives Stabler and Benson enter the precinct notably late. They inform their captain that
they were held up because a protest had broken out in the streets of Manhattan and blocked traffic.
Detective Tutuola begins to discuss the Supereme Court decision when a young black man enters
the precinct, exclaiming that he has been sexually assaulted and wants to report the crime. Detective
Tutuola and Benson begin to talk to the young man and learn his name, Alejandro Pavel . They
learn that he was beaten and sexually assaulted by a group of men, they discuss how it may be a
hate crime. Detective Benson and Stabler escort the victim to the hospital as Detective Tutuola
begins to file and peruse all the evidence so far. In our B plot at the hospital, Stabler and Benson
discuss the current atmosphere of police brutality and community outrage. Stabler believes that the
#BlackLivesMatter movement is a modern day, hate group and a neiusence to actual police work.
Benson on the other hand believes that while she may disagree with the anti police sentiment of the

disregarding examining potential differences that may be caused by the structure of language.
For example, several studies have examined the behavioral effects of morphological frequency
across Dutch (Schrueder Baayen 1997; de Jong, et al., 2000; Bertram, et al., 2000), English
(Feldman and Pastizzo, 2003; Baayen et al., 2007), Hebrew (Moscoso del Prado MartВґД±n et al.
2005), and Finnish (Moscoso del Prado MartВґД±n et al. 2004). Similar types of analyses exist
regarding morphological decomposition (e.g., early vs. late morphological processing, form then
meaning vs. semantically driven morphological processing) in English (e.g., Rastle Davis 2003;
2000; Feldman Soltano, 1999; Feldman et al., 2009; Gold Rastle 2007), Dutch (e.g., Dienpendaele
et al., 2005), Russian (Kazanina, 2011), Serbian (Feldman et al., 2012), French (Logntin et al.,
2003), and Spanish (Dunabetia et al., 2011; Dunabetia et al., 2007). Turning to the neurocognitive
and neurobiological impacts of language structure on morphological processing, there are also
examinations of processing across languages such as English (Gold and Rastle, 2007; Vannest and
York, 2005; Vannest et al., 2010), Hebrew (Bick et al., 2008; Bick, Goelman, and Frost, 2011), and
Chinese (Zou et al, 2015).
However, relatively fewer studies focus on direct comparisons of effects between languages,
looking specifically at differences in effects that may arise due to differential morphological
structure, such as in English and

Essay about A Deep, Musical Connection
The folk genre has origins all the way back to the 19th century, which in many ways is mirrored
by many popular genres in modern musical genres. To make it easy folk music is merely, ballads
and songs which are composed and conveyed vocally, without being written. (Mclean 12) Though
what we distinguish folk today as stylistically very different to what folk was during the 19th
century, at its basic form, it still holds the same standards and concepts, describing the simpler
times. Through vigorous research, it s hard to overlook the past and expansion of folk music
originating from the south, and how it could help understand the significance for observing and
expanding the dynamics of southern race relationships. Equally, race... Show more content on

inspection of the association among this technique of prevalent philosophy plus a significant

because it s a likeness of the distinct southern culture, past and social organization on the instruction
and of confidences, doubts, politics also arrogances displayed by the people on the early stages of
segregation. The composition of the African, English and Scottish mixed rapidly and effortlessly in
the similar progression through groups mixed demographically and socially to form the essential
culture. The composition from Germany and France modified justly with the folk custom. It seems
that certain musical methods such as polkas from Europe, the melodies of the Hindu, Arabic and
French settlers, practiced the same affiliation to the pleasing music essential all of the settlers
practiced with regard to the essential philosophy; an assortment based on choice.
African custom, though, is an exclusive and isolated circumstance and the association between the
white music styles fused with those of blacks, predominantly in the southern states, reflects
negative race associations. Today, the south, after all

The Importance Of The Pyramid Of Giza
The pyramid of Giza construction was created during the old kingdom. This majestic structure
signified the role that gods, and kings played in Egypt. The Egyptians had a meaning for all items
example jewelry, art, and obituary rituals. Building this pyramid was no exception to have meaning
in its structure. In building the pyramidof Giza the sides are smooth and angled to embody the
emissions from the sun this was believed to aid the king in his voyage to the afterlife. This
pyramid was built as a tomb to hold the remains of the king once he died. Similarly, to numerous
royals tombs this pyramid has extravagant paintings and had offerings to the gods to help ease
the transition from life to death. The Solar temple is located on the shores of Abusir lake. The
solar temple was discovered during the time of 1898 to 1901 by Heinrich Schaeffer and Ludwig
Borchardt. The Solar temple of Niuserre if we currently view this temple isn t as striking as the
pyramid of Giza. Nonetheless, the significance of this structure lies within. This temple is
rectangular in design it was created to be aligned with the focal point of the piece which was the
compass in the center of the courtyard. In the center of the courtyard their lays an alter this alter
has an upper block that is round this could be the symbol for the sun god Ra. The lower blocks it
is my view that these would be used for animal sacrifices for the god. We can view this type of

The Pearl
Steinbeck quoted in one of his novels, A story has many versions as it has readers. Everyone takes
what he wants or can from it and thus changes it to his measure. Some pick out parts and reject the
rest, some strain the story through their mesh of prejudice, some paint it with their own delight. His
quote explains how each reader depicts the novel into their own understanding. John Ernst
Steinbeck, an American novelist, is the author of the novella, The Pearl, published in 1947. The
three main characters in The Pearl are Kino, Juana, and their baby, Coyotito. The Pearl is the
story of Kino, a young Native American man, who finds a magnificent pearl, is greedy when

Kino and Juana hear the Song of the Family when they are at peace and trying to protect their
family. Family is idolized by its warmth and safety throughout the novella. In the beginning of
The Pearl, Kino protects his family above all else and does this in an animalistic way. Family is
closely tied together to gender roles in the text, since the duty of the mother and father, husband
and wife are an important part of identity. The narrator explained, Kino heard the creak of the
rope when Juana took Coyotito out of his hanging box and cleaned him and hammocked him in
her shawl in a loop that placed him close to her breast. Kino could see these things without
looking at them. Juana sang softly an ancient song that had only three notes and yet endlessly
variety of interval. And this was part of the family song too...aching chord that caught the throat,
saying this is safety, this is warmth, this is the Whole (Steinbeck 9). Juana s song has three
notes to represent the three members of her and Kino s family. When Coyotito dies, the entire
family is completely destroyed: what is left is no longer whole. While the pearl sparks greed in
people s hearts the purity of the family is in danger. The love of family is real and not dependent
on monetary value. The greed associated with the pearl blinds Kino s eyes to

Comparing King Richard III And Looking For Richard
King Richard III and Looking for Richard Comparative Study
Both William Shakespeare s play King Richard III (1592) and Al Pacino s docudrama film
Looking for Richard (1996) are closely linked in terms of themes, however as the saying goes No
text is written in a vacuum and both composers had different agendas and contexts resulting in
different methods of conveying the core values. Shakespeare s goal was to dramaticise the
historical events that led to the establishment of the Tudor dynasty as to appeal to the queen at the
time as she was a Tudor. Pacino has a very different goal of trying to educate and entertain a
modern audience, Pacino states at the start of the docudrama Our main goal with this project is to

Right from the offset of the play Richard is cast as a Machiavellian character stating; since I
cannot prove a lover... I am determined to prove a villain in the first monologue. It is plain to
see throughout the first few acts of the play that Richard holds all the power and that he is able
to dictate just what happens as seen through his asides, where he says what he is going to do and
then does it. Asides are less effective in showing this in a film and as such the idea is adapted by
Pacino into him playing Richard while also being the director and dictating what the other actors
do just, just as Richard directs the events of the play. Pacino also uses his interviews with
academics and general citizens to attempt to give Shakespeare back to the people , leaving them
nameless to give equal value to the opinions of both parties. By giving the audience a feeling of
power over the understanding of Shakespeare Pacino allows the responders to come up with new
perspectives on King Richard III and how power relates to the telling of the

Why We Should Be Allowed To Chew Gum In School
Have you ever wondered if you should be allowed to chew gum in school? I think we should be
allowed to because it helps with focusing on so many things. Research shows that chewing gum
in school can help you concentrate, and remember things better. So many people say it shouldn t
be allowed in schools because of irresponsible students. They are scared that they will dispose the
gum in the wrong places. The delicious treat that many people like to chew on is a great thing for
schools everywhere! Students should be allowed to chew gum in school.
Chewing gum at school can help with memory loss. While chewing the gum, it helps you
concentrate for longer periods of time. Different research studies all came out with the same
outcome in the end. It was that chewing gum helped students remember the correct answers to
everyday tests. The continuous motion of opening and closing of the jaw helps with memory.
The hippocampus is the area of the brain that helps with memory, and it improves when you re
chewing on something. Also it takes away sleepiness, so students would be able to work for
longer periods of time. Craig Johnston, PhD, an instructor of pediatrics nutrition at the Baylor
College of medicine, led a study with 108 8th grade students. (Hendrick, 2009) He did this to see
if chewing gum really did help in school. Johnston split the group into two groups for the study.

A Brief Note On Physician Assisted Suicide ( Pas )
Physician assisted suicide (PAS) has fueled a lot of debate ever since it was first legalized in
Oregon in 1997. PAS is when a doctor prescribes a medication that the patient can use to end
their life. Washington legalized PAS in March of 2009, but only saw 255 individuals in 2012 who
acquired the medication necessary to end their life from their doctor, resulting in only 24 of those
patients using the prescription (McBride 45). It is debatable whether or not PAS should be seen as
the equivalent to the suicidethat we have labeled as immoral and have tried to prevent while others
also question whether PAS is a reasonable solution to the sufferingthat terminally ill patients are
inevitably being put through. I believe PAS should not be legalized in any other state and should,
therefore, become illegal in the four states which now allow it and instead train their doctors to
provide better palliative care for their patients. To begin, individuals who agree with PAS support
their argument by focusing on the suffering that the patient would no longer have to go through.
Supporters have called it the right to die movement and are concentrating on informing the public
that people who are suffering due to their terminal illness have the right to die and would have,
what they have deemed as, a deathwith dignity (Lachman 121). PAS has gained names which
reflect it in a positive light such as right to die, good death, rational suicide, aid in dying, and
merciful release

  • 2. Women And Queen Guenevere And The Wife Of Bath s Tale Throughout history, women have drastically changed ever since the Middle Ages to present day. Women from the medieval times weren t able to do what men are doing now: work because there are some women that look up to a man s lifestyle. Before the time of having their own rights, they were often expected to do womanly duties: clean, cook, pleasure their husband, etc. However, in the case of Queen Guenevere and The Wife, the two ladies were very loving and independent during their time. A women from the medieval times, who is known as The Wife from a poem called The Wife of Bath s Tale is married to five men at the age of twelve years old: three young, and two were old. During those times, it was frowned upon due to the strong beliefs... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Queen not knowing that Sir Lancelot was fooling around with other ladies was to save himself from being caught by the King. Little did she know that Lancelot was doing this to divert attention from their affair. This describes Queen Guenevere as an adultery, but was still royal to Sir Lancelot. So much of her petty and jealously grew since then. Both women were very vulnerable to men but still remained loyal to them even though their needs weren t meant to be, and also, by having different viewpoints on being a good spouse. For Queen Guenevere, she was faithful, rich and, a jealous person that truly loved the man of her life, Sir Lancelot. Then, as the book saith, Sir Lancelot began to resort unto Queen Guenevere again, and forgat the promise and the perfection that he made in the quest. For, as the book saith, had not Sir Lancelot been in his privy thoughts and in his mind so set inwardly to the queen as he was in seeming outward to God, there had no knight passed him in the quest of the Sangreal; but ever his thoughts were privily on the queen, and so they loved together more hotter than they did to forehand, and had such privy thoughts together... (Bk.18, C.1, l.6 11). Although, with his flirtation with many women, he was trying to avoid drama with the King; still ended up fighting each other for the Queen. • 3. Friedan And The Feminine Mystique By Betty Friedan Feminism is the fight for equality between the sexes. It can be dated back to the mid 19th century with women like Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Susan B. Anthony. The first wave feminist procured the right to vote for American women. The following second and third waves built upon what the founding feminists created. The second wave of feminismwas set off by the disenchantment women across America were experiencing. This disenchantment was caused by the nuclear family and the roles that the women in the 1950s were thrust into. The second wave is said to have lasted from the 1960s 1980s. Sometime after the 1980s, most likely the early to mid 1990s, third wave feminists began to rear their heads. The third wave built upon the advancements made... After the creation of the National Organization for Women (NOW), an executive order was issued by LBJ to include sex in affirmative action. And in 1973 Roe V. Wade occurred, this case made first trimester abortions legal. All of these events show that the second wave of feminism raged war on many institutions. What began as a crusade to make women aware turned into a massive revolution. The third wave of feminism began sometime in the 1990s. This was when the Riot Grrrl was taking over Washington state. And a woman named Anita Hill was waging a battle against her sexual assaulter, Clarence Thomas a Supreme Court nominee, in court. The court ruled in favor of Thomas. These events worked as a catalyst for the third wave. The third wave focused on ensuring that the accomplishments made by the second wave were not taken for granted. The women involved in the third wave viewed race, transgender rights, sexual liberation, and social class as their central issues. Third wave feminist wanted each and every woman to have a say when it came to their body. They rebelled against the attempted passage of North Dakota s complete ban on abortion and the United States Supreme Courts efforts to uphold the partial birth ban. The third wave was also viewed as more open. Their concentration shifted to being an activist group that was more openminded to how women could dress and act. Their view was that the more they tried to control the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Life of a Teenager The Effects of Teenage Relationships Different relationships affect teenagers in various ways. Friends impact teenagers almost the same amount as their parents. Teenagers go to their friends for help or to ask questions that they could not ask their parents about. Most of the time their friends give them good advice but then there is the down side when they put pressure on their friends to do something like to smoke, drink, and do drugs. In most cases they tell their friends how to dress and act when around certain people. Love relationships just make it even harder for a teenager to get a good education. Some start to fail in school because they are hanging out with their boyfriend or girlfriend instead of doing their work. Throughout... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Close family ties are an important bond for each member of the family. A guy who wants to date a girl must ask for her parents permission. In case no permission is granted, it is highly unlikely for the date to actually happen, unless in some cases that the girl and guy sneak out and date out secretly. However, this is morally unacceptable in Philippine culture. Filipino parents are very strict with their children having romantic relationships. Brothers are generally protective of their sisters. Even cousins and other relatives are protective of their young female cousins and relatives. They become more lenient when their daughters, sisters and relatives reach the legal age of 18. When picking up the girl at her home for a date, it is common to provide gifts to the family members (parents, grandparents and siblings) as well. Parents usually want to have some conversation with the guy and ask about his family and educational background before they can go out for a date. First Date The first date is officially a time to get to know each other. The couple ask about each other s backgrounds and it is highly unlikely to have a passionate kiss after the date. Some girls allow a kiss on the cheek after the first date, but this varies per person and per couple. Some guys don t even get the chance to hold the hand of their conservative dates. • 6. Much Ado About Nothing Patriarchy Undoubtedly, conventional beliefs during the Renaissance supported unchallenged patriarchal rule. Men prescribed obedience and domesticity for women as a strategic method of preserving men s limitless power, and this often times translated into the contemporary writing of the time. In William Shakespeare s Much Ado About Nothing, patriarchy reveals itself as a dominant theme throughout the play. Antonio, the brother of Leonato, says to one the play s female protagonists, Well, niece, I trust you will be ruled by your father, (II.i.47 48). As a clear indication of male dominance and the expectation of female adherence to regressive social norms, this later shows that Much Ado About Nothing enacts the disastrous effects of placing strict limitations on women and empowering men with unquestionable authority simply because of their sex. In a world where the words of women are not acknowledged and where power resides in the hands of men, the socially superior voices of men can be countered not by the speaking of women but by the violence of a sword. Beatrice s role in the play is one that challenges long established notions of male dominated society. She is a strong woman who is not afraid to speak her mind, and is not the traditional woman, especially in Shakespeare s society. Beatrice is not sound in the establishments of marriage and would preferably lead a life as an unmarried woman than to be binded to a man she can barely tolerate just because she is accepted as the lesser ... • 7. Essay On Goneril In King Lear Goneril in King Lear perfectly exemplifies with this quote how being overly credulous can lead to the downfall of a character. Trust is a complicated issue; people want to believe what others say, and yet it becomes harder to believe as they are let down time and time again. It also manifests itself in many forms, such as mistrust of self or mistrust of others. Trustis a common thread throughout all human history, and yet it has continually proved to be the downfall of everything ranging from great empires to even the smallest of relationships. King Leargives insight into all these themes, with characters mistrusting themselves, mistrusting each other, and the downfall of as something as large as a kingdom and as small as half of a family. From the start, the play presents a man with the most powerful title King Lear himself being confused by trust. Riddled with lapses of dementia in his old age, he invents a little game to divide his kingdom, where his daughters profess their love to him to earn their fair share of the land. Lear fools himself into believing that his two eldest daughters love him, and is incredulous to find out that his favorite daughter does not profess her love as grandly as the other two did. Lear continually fools himself into trusting his daughters, when he tries to visit Goneril, keep his knights, and resorting to visiting Regan. His dementia has brought him to the point where he wants to trust those close to him, but in the end, he is the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. The Essential Compound of Water on Earth Formed by two bonded hydrogens and an oxygen atom it is the second most essential compound to life on Earth, water. However, less than four percent of it is available for human consumption; it may be found in a liquid state or as water vapor within the atmosphere. As society progresses in becoming more populous and industrialized so does the demand for fresh water, thus scientists have and continue to experiment with adding particles to clouds in order to aid in creating precipitation. In nature, water continuously moves between the Earth and atmosphere through a process known as the hydrologic cycle. Evaporation and transportation cause water to rise, as warm air rises it becomes cooler and causes condensation, the droplets increase in size until the upward movement of air cannot support it (nucleation), and thus falls to the ground. It should be noted that warm air has the ability to hold more vapor than cold air and cloud formation occurs due to air becoming supersaturated. Conversely, nucleation does not always occur due to the cloud not being cold enough, we are then introduced to the process of cloud seeding(Lenschow). The inorganic compound silver iodide (AgI) is sprayed or launched into the atmosphere as tiny particles that attract water molecules causing them to nucleate and fall to the ground as precipitation. Cloud seeding started it s formation when Vincent Schaefer, a self taught chemist in New York, attempted to get artificial clouds to produce ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Taylor was influenced to write by religion, and it s evident in his poem Ebb and Flow . Taylor illustrates, through the use of rhetorical devices, the fear that the fire inside his heart has burned out, and the hope that, through God s grace, his affections will be ignited once again. Taylor uses the rhetorical device of diction to illustrate how the fire in his heart is slowly burning out. At first in the poem, Taylor has a strong connection to God. In the first line, Taylor says, When first Thou on me, Lord, wroughtest Thy sweet print, (Taylor). In this line it s made clear that Taylor is engaged by God s loveand authority. Then in verse two, Taylor beings to question his relationship with God. In line eleven, Taylor talks about how his heart is lacking of affections, making the fire in his heart burnout. I find my... Some of the different choices teenagers have made when bored are vandalism, speeding while driving, reckless endangerment, smoking, drugs like marijuana, Amphetamines, Adderall, Opioid painkillers, Synthetic marijuana, Tranquilizers, Cough medicine, Vicodin, Hallucinogens, OxyContin, Sedatives, Ecstasy (MDMA), LSD, Cocaine, Ritalin, Inhalants, and Salvia as well as drinking alcoholic beverages while definitely under age. The CDC says that people from the ages of 12 to 20 make up 11 percent of all alcohol consumed in the United States. Federal law in the United States says that you must be 21 or older to consume alcohol or any sort. That 11 percent may not seem so huge when you consider all of the alcohol being consumed by the United States each year, but remember that 11 percent are all teens and kids under the legal drinking age. However drinking is not the only path teenagers can choose out of boredom. Teenagers are also turning to drugs of all sorts no matter what kind of drug it is. As a matter of fact it is estimated that 3,300 try marijuana for the first time every day in the United States alone. A study has done that found that 12th graders who smoke marijuana are 65 percent more likely to get in a car accident. In addition 51.7 teenagers 10th grade through 12th grade have smoked pot sometime between the last month to the last year. Furthermore though marijuana is not the only drug that teenagers are using there is also cocaine and heroin. As a matter of fact 2.5 percent of teens have been caught up in cocaine use of some sort. • 12. The Legend Of The Sleepy Hollow By Washington Irving The Legend of the Sleepy Hollow by Washington Irving is a tale of supernaturalism written in Nineteenth Century America during a time when American literature was not yet fully established. Irving wrote this story with multiple historical events in mind and presents a legend full of problematic ideas of wealth, greed and rejection. Amongst many other literary elements, Irving uses the American setting and Sleepy Hollow itself throughout in relation to the development of the story. The setting in relation to the characters is also an important factor that establishes the mood for this creepy, supernatural legend. The location of Sleepy Hollow is the basis of the setting and is influenced by a full range of historical facts and events. This instantly creates a frame of mind for the readers and prepares them for certain themes. The city of Sleepy Hollow and its name at first glance describe the story in general very well. Lastly, the setting impacts the characters throughout and directs the way the characters should be. Without the heavy description and use of setting, the mood in this story would not be so well founded and the context not as impactful. The Legend of Sleepy Hollowwould not be the supernatural tale it is without Irving s focus on the setting. The location of Sleepy Hollow in the United States is the main setting and impacts the story dramatically, straight from the beginning to the end. Waverly Leonard Part I Reading Journal, ch.s 1 13 Plot Summary: These first thirteen chapters chronicle the daily life of Edna Pontellier, The Awakening s protagonist. The novel opens on Mr. Pontellier; he is smoking a cigar and reading the newspaper while idly observing the life and activity around him. The novel turns its attention to his wife, Edna Pontellier. She is described as rather handsome than beautiful and has a face with a certain frankness of expression, an intriguing description if there ever was one. She is accompanied by Robert Lebrun, the son of Madame Lebrun, the owner of the house at which the Creole aristocracy stayed on the Grand Isle. They are rather close companions; Robert has chosen to follow her around for the summer, as is later revealed to be his custom. It s revealed that Edna is an American woman from the old Kentucky bluegrass country. As the day progresses, Chopin details the tiny minutiae of married life that have disappointed both Leonce and Edna; Leonce feels hurt by her dismissiveness He thought it very discouraging that his wife, who was the sole object of his existence, evinced so little interest in things which concerned him, and valued so little his conversation... while Edna resents his overbearing conventionality An indescribable oppression, which seemed to generate in some unfamiliar part of her consciousness, filled her whole being with a vague anguish. • 20. Factors That Affect The Productivity Of Agricultural Crops V. DISCUSSION Abiotic stresses affect the productivity of agricultural crops in different ways and increased incidence of abiotic stresses has become major cause for reduction in crop productivity. Heat stress is often defined as the rise in temperature beyond a threshold level for a period of time sufficient to cause irreversible damage to plant growth and development. Heat stress due to high ambient temperatures is a serious threat to crop production worldwide (Hall, 2001). Transitory or constantly high temperatures cause an array of morpho anatomical, physiological and biochemical changes in plants, which affect plant growth and development and may lead to a drastic reduction in yield (Wahid et al., 2007). High temperature stress causes extensive denaturation and aggregation of cellular proteins, which, if unchecked, lead to cell death. Heat response is characterized by inhibition of normal transcription and translation, higher expression of heat shock proteins (HSP s) and induction of thermo tolerance (Krishna 2003). Evolving efп¬Ѓcient, low cost, easily adaptable methods for the abiotic stress management is a major challenge. Worldwide, extensive research is being carried out, to develop strategies to cope with abiotic stresses, through development of heat and drought tolerant varieties by genetic engineering and breeding (Venkateswarlu and Shanker 2009). While most of these technologies are cost intensive, recent studies indicated the microorganisms could play an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There are rudimentary, interconnecting, and sophisticated but this paper will only focus on the structure and building of sophisticated tunnels. Some features of a sophisticated tunnel are that it reach as deep as seventy feet underground and tall and wide enough for an adult to walk through or for a mine cart to be pushed through. When building these sophisticated tunnels, first the earth is chipped away by handheld electric spades and the workers are filling sandbags with dirt and rocks in order to have the clearest pathway in the tunnel. Then the rail systems tart to get set up where it s just a large metal crate connected to an electric pulley system in order to get the sandbags with dirt and rocks out of the tunnel. A structural feature about these tunnels is that the ceiling would be slightly arched in order to distribute the pressure and weight of the earth to prevent a collapse. Another feature of sophisticated tunnels is the ventilation when a black plastic tubes connected by pipe clamps would be affixed to the top of the tunnel in order to provide oxygen for the workers. The rail system that was in sophisticated tunnels was two metal tracks that were laid down to bring debris to the surface by the elevator in order to get it out of the way. In the Old Testament, one of the ways of such a walk, because of God s mercy, was to make animal sacrifice for sin. In the New Testament, confessing one s sin to God is a part of walking in the covenant ways of God (1 John 1:9). So then, when the believer sins it is not because he has turned aside from God and is no longer walking in the way of God, backslidden in heart and filled with his own ways, but rather because of the weakness of his flesh he may fall into sin. Yet he abhors his sin, confesses it, and seeks to forsake it. In an effort to appeal to traditional liberal supporters as well as voters who traditionally identify with the NDP, the Liberal Party adopted a reform liberal economic agenda and social democratic policies. Conversely, Thomas Mulcair, the leader of the NDP, embraced a campaign platform to the right of the Liberals. Stephen Harper s Conservative Party adopted policies that were similar to the ideologies of the New Right, which embodies neo liberal economic policies and conservative social policies. Evidence Informed Practice On Facilitating Learning Evidence informed practice in facilitating learning Introduction This paper will seek to explore the literature surrounding the diverse debate and narratives which have defined the body of academic research surrounding facilitating learning and the centrality of evidence informed practice. There has been a diverse shift in focus between the domains of research and practice. Therefore, this paper will endeavour to ascertain key developments in order to nurture a strong awareness of the available research. The intellectual genesis of this analysis surrounds the work of a British academic, Professor David Hargreaves, who elucidated a new concept of educational research. Hargreaves believed, ?teaching is not at present a research based profession? (Hargreaves, 1996). The intellectual foundations of research principles in the delivery of education are an important dynamic. This paper, therefore, will outline the academic journey of this progression. This was a big change for me when I moved from New York to North Carolina. People in the south have a different dialect than from people in New York. When I first moved to North Carolina it was a different place. I was used to the buildings and the busy highways, and when I moved here it was nothing like that, it was very open with farms and golf courses. The surroundings were not the only thing that changed people from the south were completely different. The first couple of weeks living here, I just thought that people did not know how to speak. • 48. Compare And Contrast Frederick Douglas And Chief Seattle Mrs. Lyons Frederick Douglass vs. Chief Seattle Frederick Douglas and Chief Seattle both experienced disadvantages because of their race and culture around the years 1850 1855. Frederick Douglass was a former slave abolitionist who fought to change America and the Africans who were enslaved in it. Chief Seattle was the leader of the Suquamish Tribe and he too was determined to change the citizen s perspective about how his people were being treated. Both authors wrote compelling letters/speeches to the President to convince him and the citizens to spark change for their race by using pathos, description, and cause/effect in their dialogue. Douglass and Seattle use pathos to evoke a certain emotion out of the reader in order to make them feel the same way as they do. Douglass uses examples to stir emotion. He says, What am I to argue that it is wrong to make men brutes, to rob them of their liberty, to work them without wages, to keep them ignorant of their relations to their fellow men, to beat them with sticks... Douglass continues on with more examples highlighting the injustice to draw an emotion out of the reader. Chief Seattle uses pathos but in a different way. Instead of pulling examples from the past, he foreshadows to future problems that could occur. He says, All things are connected. Whatever befalls the earth befalls the sons of the earth. Seattle also uses religion. Our God is the same God. You may think that you own him as you wish to own our land, but you cannot. When religion is placed in the mix, emotions stir; it becomes more personal to the reader because they can relate on a certain level. In order to get their points across effectively and proficiently, Douglass and Seattle used description. Both authors use description to help the reader form an image in their mind. This tool helps the writer create a connection with the reader with the use of details. Frederick Douglass describes in detail the wrongs he and his people experienced through slavery. He says, What, to the American slave, is your 4th of July? I answer; a day that reveals to him, more than all other days in the year, the gross injustice and cruelty to which he is the constant victim. It s essential that Douglass uses ... Parallel findings have been reported in a Harvard study which indicates that the housing problem becomes more critical in larger metropolitan areas such as San Francisco and New York, where only 25% of the residents can afford the housing (GSD News, 2017). The study suggests that the housing problem in the States will continue to deteriorate attributing to the soaring demands from the millennial generation as they are moving away from their parent s houses and in search for more personal spaces (2017). PAS is when a doctor prescribes a medication that the patient can use to end their life. Washington legalized PAS in March of 2009, but only saw 255 individuals in 2012 who acquired the medication necessary to end their life from their doctor, resulting in only 24 of those patients using the prescription (McBride 45). It is debatable whether or not PAS should be seen as the equivalent to the suicidethat we have labeled as immoral and have tried to prevent while others also question whether PAS is a reasonable solution to the sufferingthat terminally ill patients are inevitably being put through. I believe PAS should not be legalized in any other state and should, therefore, become illegal in the four states which now allow it and instead train their doctors to provide better palliative care for their patients. To begin, individuals who agree with PAS support their argument by focusing on the suffering that the patient would no longer have to go through. Supporters have called it the right to die movement and are concentrating on informing the public that people who are suffering due to their terminal illness have the right to die and would have, what they have deemed as, a deathwith dignity (Lachman 121).
