1. How did you use photography, Photoshop, Publisher etc to create your posters and magazine covers. Which specific skills did you need to master?
2. Photography :- In order to make my poster I had to take several pictures of my characters. I wanted to make sure that I had enough pictures so that I could pick different ones and decide on the best one to use. I set up three photoshoot’s in order for me to take enough pictures. I found it helpful taking lots of pictures because it meant I had more of a variety to choose from. Taking pictures for my magazine were done at the same time as taking pictures for my poster. I wanted to make sure I was organised enough to have pictures in advance of me making my poster and magazine.
3. Photoshop :- I used Photoshop to edit all of the pictures that I took. I also made my poster on Photoshop because I thought it would be easier for me to add more colour, more text and a better and bigger picture. Photoshop was good because I was able to crop all of my pictures as well as editing the contrast and brightness. When I used Photoshop I used a lot of different techniques, such as, red eye removal to make sure that all the red eye had gone from my pictures, I also edited the brightness and contrast, I did this because I wanted to get some of the colours to stand out more, I did this by maximising the contrast and then increasing the brightness in some of my pictures. I also used Photoshop to crop images out of their backgrounds, I did this by the quick selection tool, I found this easier to use because it automatically selected parts of the image that I wanted to, all I had to do was click on the image and then keep clicking till it selected the entire area that I wanted it to. When I made my poster I began by creating the titles, I had already decided upon a pink and white background and so I decided to tie the titles in with the colour scheme. I decided upon a font that I wanted and then from there I decided what I wanted each title to say. It took me a few attempts before I was happy with the layout of the poster, I wasn’t sure whether I wanted to use a vertical or horizontal poster. When I decided upon a horizontal one I then began adding in the pictures that I had taken. I put drop shadows on the titles to give them more of a stand out effect and then I made sure the colours were bright and bold.
4. I used Publisher to create my magazine cover, I decided to use Publisher because its a program I found easier to use when it came to having more writing and less pictures. I still wanted some colour on my magazine cover but I think that I accomplished a better magazine cover than I would have done in Photoshop. I did however use Photoshop to edit my pictures that I used on my magazine cover. Publisher allowed me to create titles, subtitles and headings which I could allow to entice my audience into reading my magazine.
