Lens Based High
Efficient Solar Panel
using MPPT Algorithm
 The energy produced by the non renewable
resources in our country is in verge of extinction, so
the future world needs the energy.
 Other renewable energy are seasonal one except the
sun, solar energy can be used to get stable power
supply throughout the year.
 In recent trends researches has been widely done to
minimum its initial cost and for effective power
production.
Overview
Concept
 With Fresnel lens:
 We use Fresnel lens to
increase the intensity of the
sunlight on the solar panel.
 It can be used as collimator
and collector.
 With mirror:
 Here the mirror Is placed at
an angle of 15 deg.
 Here the front side direct
sunlight and backside gets
reflected light from the
mirror.
Comparison of solar panel with mirror &
Fresnel lens
 MPPT is the simple method implemented to trap the
maximum power from the solar panel.
 The MPPT algorithm is implement by means of FGPA
microcontroller.
 There are different methods of implementing the MPPT
algorithm such us:
Incremental conductance method
Perturb and observe method
Fractional SC current
Fractional OC voltage
Neural networks
Fuzzy logic
What is meant by MPPT?
SMALL BLOCK DIAGRAM OF WHOLE CONCEPT
This block diagram
represents the simple
process of solar panels and
some converters with using
MPPT algorithm.
Solar tracking system
STATUS OF LDRs STATUS OF LDRs
LDR 1 is illuminated more than LDR 2 Motor will run in Anticlockwise direction
LDR 2 is illuminated more than LDR 1 Motor will run in clockwise direction
Both LDRs illuminated to same light Motor will be stopped
Both LDRs are exposed to darkness Motor will be stopped
LDR
• A high resistance semiconductor whose resistance decreases with
increasing incident light intensity.
• When light falls on such a semiconductor, the valence electrons receive
the light energy incident and jump to the conduction band.
• The conductivity of the device increases, decreasing its resistivity.
SET / RESET SYSTEM AND P&O METHOD
Code for implementing MPPT algorithm
using Perturb and observe method
Types of Solar Cells
CONDITIONS INDICATION MESSAGE SENT TO THE MOBILE
When the battery is full Battery full
When the battery is half full or medium Switch off the heavy load or switch off the load
that is not necessary
When the battery is empty Battery is empty so use only the light load
If the battery is full and performance is good Solar panel works in perfect manner
Monitoring of the solar panel using module
• Here the solar panel can be monitored continuously to improve the
performance and to drive the maximum power out of its performance can be
checked continuously by noting the power output at various time either
manually or remotely.
 The main objective of this paper is to increase the
efficiency of the solar panel which can be
implemented in practical case.
 I tried my level best to increase efficiency of the
solar panel with the simplest method.
 The solar tracking system contains of LDR,fresnal
lens, using MPPT algorithm to track the maximum
power from the solar panel.
Conclusion
