This document defines and describes the key concepts of cloud computing including its five characteristics, four deployment models, and three service models. The five characteristics that define cloud computing are on-demand self-service, broad network access, resource pooling, rapid elasticity, and measured service. The four deployment models are public cloud, private cloud, community cloud, and hybrid cloud. The three service models are Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Software as a Service (SaaS).
