Computer Vision Syndrome (CVS) refers to vision problems that result from extensive computer use. Anyone who uses a computer for more than two hours per day is at risk. Symptoms include tired eyes, headaches, blurred vision, dry eyes, and neck/shoulder pain. The symptoms are caused by the eyes having to constantly refocus on computer screens as well as infrequent blinking. To prevent CVS, one should have regular eye exams, practice proper ergonomics, do eye exercises, take effective breaks, and consider computer glasses. Taking breaks every 30 minutes, blinking frequently, and using lubricating eye drops can help reduce symptoms.
