A Living Horror Story Of The Holocaust
It was 1942 in Frankfurt, Germany and you could almost make out the smell of the cold winter air.
World War II was uprising and the Nazis were scattered all over Germany, they were taking hundreds
of thousands of Jews each day. They were being taken to camps that no one ever returned from. The
only people who did end up surviving, were those who escaped, and the stories that were being told by
the escapers were a living horror story. In a small house, which was a faded blue color with missing
roof pieces and slightly cracked windows, was a Jewish family of six with only two bedrooms to share
and a living room that could barely fit three people. The parents, Claudia and Bruno, had both lost
their job. They barely had enough food for two meals ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It had probably been about an hour or so after they had woken up, they had nothing to look forward to
like school, sports or even playing outside with their friends they hadn t been outside since their
parents left, except for Karla all there was to look forward to was eating once a day. No one knew
what day it was or what time it was but it was probably in late January, they had missed Hanukkah. It
was then about 10:00 pm and all the kids were sleeping besides for Klara, she was looking around in
the dark, small place in the basement, she was wondering if she and the kids would make it through
World War II, if they did where they would go (because for all they knew Claudia could have been
dead) and how would they live. A pounding sound on the floor above startled Karla and she lost her
train of thought. Her heart pounded harder as the pounding got closer and closer to the basement, then
her life started to fall apart after one single second. One of the officers lifted up the top of the
emergency room door and there he was, a tall man with perfectly jelled brown hair and dirt ugly
brown eyes that matched the ugly off green uniform they wore. Karla sat up and stared right up at him
as if she had never seen anyone like that before, he stared right back at her. Get up and get out of there
this instant! demanded the officer. Karla obeyed the

Human Primates And Human Primate
For my final paper for this class I will be going over and portraying the behavior of non human
primate and human primate in the literature and movies we went over, compared to the evolutionary
understandings of primate behavior. Throughout this class we studied and compared the different
primates, including human and non humans. According to the Wikipedia, The primate lineage is
thought to go back at least 65 million years ago. with that one could say that research on non human
and human primate can somehow explain the theory behind evolution. In addition to the different
reading materials we had in class we also watched several movies displaying different behaviors of
non human primate and human primate. With that saying, I developed a thesis statement, despite its
differences and similarities between non human primates and human primates behavior, can evolution
be understood differently when comparing the two through various readings, movies and evolutionary
research. Throughout this paper I will be going over the differences and similarities in behavior,
evolution, a higher power and even my take on such an opposition. First, I want to go over and talk
about the Evolutionary Theory. The Evolutionary Theory is a theory that has been supported by years
of experiments which is known as being one of the best speculation of natural occurrence. The
changes on earth through different events that occurred over time could be the cause of such a variety
of species to exist on

Southwest Airlines Aphorism
Introduction
Many organizations implement a strategic plan to grow their company or take a step towards success.
The result of that plan is either efficacious or a failure. Southwest Airlines Corporation is no exception
to the rule. Their success is based on a few key components that have kept them as a profitable
company, with happy employees and customers.
History and mission of the organization
Southwest Airlines Corporation, which was essentially established in 1971, has become one of the
most well known airlines to date. The cofounder, Herb Kelleher, had a simple motto to follow when he
began the company: If you get your passengers to their destinations when they want to get there, on
time, at the lowest possible fares, and make darn sure they have a good time doing it, people will fly
your airline (About Southwest, n.d., p. 1). This is a pretty simple concept, in that as a corporation you
take care of your customers and employees and in turn you will have a higher morale within the
organization. In addition, a higher customer gratification will be a result of Mr. Kelleher s astute
aphorism. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is the low fares they provide for their flights. Kelleher emphasizes about this in his interview with
Chuck Lucier, a senior vice president emeritus of Booz Allen Hamilton. Kelleher speaks about the
profitability of Southwest, about the reliability of its employers, and the dependability of customers to
be able to fly at the lowest rate possible and to be able to travel within the timeframe that they demand
(Lucier, 2004, paras. 1 7). In my personal experiences, in flying on a number of flights with several
different airlines, I have found the mission statement to be true. I use Southwest Airlines as a starting
point to look for flights simple because of their low fares are usually the best bargain, in addition to
their flexible flight

Naked Preferences And The Constitution
Because the Constitution i s rooted in civil republicanism, its clauses must reflect accompanying
notions of civic virtue . In Naked Preferences and the Constitution, Professor Cass R. Sunstein
identifies a unifying theme across the various clauses of the Constitution: the prohibition of the
distribution of resources or opportunities to one group rather than another solely on the ground that
those favored have exercised the raw political power to obtain what they want. Sunstein calls this type
of prohibited evil a naked preference. When naked preferences are prohibited, any government action
must be justified by reference to some legitimate public value. Ensuring that government action avoids
naked preferences and upholds recognized public values is how the courts prevent the danger of
factional tyranny. When a group is treated differently than another solely because of a raw exercise of
political power, a naked preference is at work. Self interested groups are thus prohibited from seeking
to obtain wealth or opportunities at the expense of other groups or individuals solely by this raw
exercise. A legitimate public value may be any justification for government that goes beyond the
exercise of raw political power. One of the key considerations is what sort of alleged public values the
courts will accept as legitimate. At this juncture, courts have a few options; the test for smoking out
naked preferences may be weak, strong, or, perhaps,

A Modern Artist From Norway
Edvard Munch, a modern artist from Norway, born in Løten in Hedmark on 12 December 1863. He
grew up in a family of seven, with four other siblings, a mother and father characteristics of a happy
family but instead turn out to be quite the opposite. As a child he suffered from chronic asthmatic
bronchitis and rheumatic fever debilitating most of his childhood. Surrounded by death, Munch
witnessed the passing of most of his family. One by one his mother, sister, and even Munch himself
suffered from Tuberculosis, however, he would be the only one to survive it. Tragedy did not stop
there his only brother would ultimately be taken, from Munch, at the age of 30 from pneumonia.
Death was a common theme in his work because he lived through so ... Show more content on

Munch would always be reminded of his family s death, their torment followed his shadow and further
encroached on his mind the more time went on. Various styles, motifs, and paintings from artists such
as Claude Monet and Eugène Carrière inspired his work. However, Carrière s Sick Child, 1885 would
be a pivoting point in influencing his own painting of the same name. One of Munch s first work that
showed his notorious style can be seen in The Sick Child, 1886 painting just a year after Carrière s.
His painting depicts his sister Sophie bedridden from Tuberculosis and his mother mourning beside
her waiting for her to pass. He paints in a very melancholy tone and the color gives the viewer the
impression of sickness and sorrow. He expresses his feelings years later describing how few have ever
experienced the full grief of their subject as I did in The Sick Child. (qtd. in Prideaux 85 86). Munch s
painterly style allows us to feel the anguish and pain he must have felt while painting The Sick Child.
His process is also rather significant compared to the end product itself and provides clear insight into
his emotional state whilst he painted.
Munch not only painted with a brush but he chose to also use a palette knife for this particular painting
to show the marks of visible misery, which can be seen with the scratchy and unfinished texture. What
is even more interesting is his use of layers. His determination in layering his painting over and over

10.4 Disadvantages Of Cellular Layout
10.4 COMPARISON OF INFORMATION FLOW
In existing layout the production line is very long, starting from preparatory to the end of assembly.
Because of this, communication and information flow is difficult and for each and every thing
supervisor has to walk around the line frequently. In case of new layout (cellular layout) the
information flow is effective and quick. Because, the group of people who are in the same cell, works
in compact area where each operator is in direct contact with other operator of the cell and they know
each other s job inside the cell. This makes information flow fast and accurate. Whereas this cannot be
achieved in long assembly line; where one operator is in contact with only two operators (one operator
before and one operator after his operation) so neither he can give any suggestion nor he knows the
issues of other operation i.e. workers are not participating in each other s work, rather working
independently.
10.5 COMPARISON OF REWORK LEVEL
The rework level has been decreased by 80% over existing trends. In existing production, the rework
level is approximately 5% but after implementation of recommended layout the rework level falls to
1%. The main reason for rework reduction is due to reduction in WIP and balanced work cells. Due to
low ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So there is no arguing that someone is doing a difficult operation and others are working in easier
operations. On the other hand, this is not possible in batch production because of specific allocated
work for the whole day. Similarly, in case of new layout, operators are treated as a group inside the
cell so their combined effort is to do better and produce more. Likewise, operators cannot work
carelessly because they will be immediately caught by the next operator inside the cell, so the
combined result of all these factors motivates them to do better in each

Weed In The 1900s
In the 1900s, weed had already had relatively long legal history in the United States. Many historians
believe the Jamestown settlers were the first to introduce cannabis to the United States in 1611.
Presidents George Washington and Thomas Jefferson, both grew hemp in the 1700s, which was
distributed to drug stores to help cure migraines and menstrual cramps. In the beginning weed was
used for recreational purposes, and still is used to aid aliments, some aliments worse than others.

and other substances are burned and release dangerous gases causing global warming. When these
gases are released into the air, it gets in the clouds causing it to mix with the water. Because of this it,

War. War comes death, sacrifice, and broken minds at the end.
The death of Ted Lavender was a shifting point for the the platoon and its Lieutenant Jimmy

Ted Lavender was a scared young adult who was the first one from the platoon to meet death. Before
he had passed away in order to calm his nerves ...Ted Lavender carried 6 or 7 ounces of premium

There were pictures of Rat Kiley and Kiowa and Mitchell Sanders, all of us, the faces incredibly soft
and young. At one point, I remember, we paused over a snapshot of Ted Lavender, and after a while
Jimmy rubbed his eyes and said he d never forgiven himself for Lavender s death. It was something
that would never go away... (O Brien, 26) Out of hundreds of photos they both focused on Ted
Lavender and hit a soft spot for both of them. They related and were able to get in touch with those
emotions even after many years passing.
Although after Ted Lavender, there were many more soldiers the platoon had seen pass away. But
even after all that time Ted Lavender is still relevant throughout the book. He had made an impact
considering that his only role in the platoons life was that he was the first death they had seen that was
one of them. Tim O Brien tells the story all over again as he did in the beginning of the book. Which
should make the audience realize that although we did not know much about Ted Lavender he was a

character of Glaucon uses this fable to argue that justice is a kind of socially constructed contract

As a part of the required activities for the course EGR9220 Teaching in Higher Education Practicum at
Villanova University, I have had the opportunity to teach a few sessions for CEE2105 for fall semester
2017, supervised by Dr. David Dinehart. On Wednesday November 1st, I recorded two lectures to be
posted on the blackboard and viewed by students prior to their in class session on the following Friday
and Monday. I received the PowerPoint slides for those recorded session from Dr. Dinehart, however,
added certain material to them with his consent. In particular, I added a nine step problem solving

sessions was about 26 minutes. The first recording was titled Centroids of the composite areas , and
the second recording was titled Centroid of composite areas, lines, and volumes .
On Friday November 3rd, I instructed two in class problem solving sessions from 8:30 AM to 9:20

Medieval Castle Essay
The Medieval Period lasted from the 10th century to the 17th century; this was the time of castles. The
word castle is derived from the Latin word castellum which means fort. Castles still stand today as one
of the most magnificent structures ever built. Not only are people fascinated with their grand splendor,
but with their luminous presence of authority. Castles were not built for defense alone; they were
symbols of social status, wealth, power, and intimidation. Kings and queens were not the only people
to inhabit castles; noblemen could also construct their own castles. Castles were the main form of
protection for most people living during the Medieval Period. The main purpose of the castle was for

The keep would also house the great hall where the meals would be served. The lord and lady of the
castle would sit at a great table near the end of the hall opposite of any doors to avoid drafts. Men at
arms, guests and other inhabitants would eat on tables that could be removed after the meal. Meals
were very lengthy and consisted of three courses. Apart from bed chambers and the great hall, the
keep contained a chapel and a guard room. In some castles these chapels were only used by the lord
and his family. Decoration and furniture in castle chapels were just as ornate as any other chapel that
was built separate from the castle. (Hull 2) The guard room is usually located on one of the lower
levels of the keep. Knights and their squires would occupy this room along with the garrison of the
castle. Noblemen who lived in the castle required servants, chamberlains, chaplains, and cooks to
assist them in their daily life. The servants would perform tasks such as cleaning, washing and serving
the meals. The chamberlains would control the events of the great hall while a chaplain would carry
out his duties in the chapel, and the cooks would prepare the meals. The lady of the castle would

Major Depressive Disorder ( Mdd )
Introduction Major depressive disorder (MDD) is currently labeled one of the world s greatest health
problems, with an estimated prevalence of 4.7% and the second highest cause of years lived with a
disability in 2010. The economic impact on patients with MDD is extensive particularly in patients
that do not respond to treatment. Severe MDD can lead to loss of productivity and increase mortality.
There remain several antidepressant treatments (ADTs) available to patients with MDD, but there is a
significant minority that do not respond to first line treatments. Secondary treatment options, including
changing the current ADT or adding another ADT to the treatment regimen, such as a second

United States for unresponsive MDD patients, including the adjunctive usage of fluoxetine and

agents, but their tolerability profiles has limited their clinical usage. Side effects fluctuate between
medications, but most regularly comprise of akathisia for aripiprazole, increased appetite and weight

I will first discuss these activities before turning to mainstream and ethnic media. Dual nature of
othering Authors (Bailey et al., 2007; Canales, 2000; Haynes et al., 2006) acknowledge the dual nature
of the process of othering where it simultaneously causes exclusion and inclusion. Haynes et al.
(2006) formulate it precisely when they state that the construction of an other is, in fact, a dual process
whereby an imagined included us is created through the construction of an excluded other (p.13).
Exclusionary othering uses the power within relationships for domination and subordination. People
who experience this form of othering often experience alienation, marginalization, decreased
opportunities, internalized oppression and exclusion. Inclusionary othering on the other hand, attempts
to utilize power within relationships for transformation and coalition building. Individuals who
experience this form of othering , potentially undergo consciousness raising, sense of community,
shared power and inclusion (Canales, 2000). Complementing this dual nature of othering , Schmidt
Bunkers (2003) explains the remarkable paradox concerning the other: Never has the world been more
dangerous, with terrorism continuing to spark suspicions of those that are different from us. And,
never, at the same time, has the world been more in need of finding ways to embrace those that are

History, Preparation, Execution, Results, And Lessons...
Introduction In February 1941, Field Marshal Erwin Rommel received command of the recently
created Afrika Korps. The unit deployed to Libya in order to support the Italian Army that had recently
suffered setbacks against the British forces. For the next two years, Rommel s forces fought across the
North African desert against British forces led by Generals Archibald Wavell, Claude Auchinleck, and
Bernard Montgomery. The culminating point for this campaign was the two battles of El Alamein,
after which the Germans retreated to Tunisia and eventually surrendered. This case study will examine
the history, preparation, execution, results, and lessons learned during the Battles of El Alamein and
how that defeat helped lead to the overall Axis defeat in World War II (WWII).
History
The fighting on the African continent began before WWII. Italy, in the late 19th century, had colonies
in Libya, Eritrea, and Somaliland (now Somalia). In 1935, Bunito Mussolini, the dictator of Italy,
wanted to have an Italian East African Empire. To accomplish this, his Italian forces conquered
Ethiopia by 1936, forming his empire consisting of Somaliland, Eritrea, and Ethiopia. The British,
meanwhile, provided soldiers for the defense of the Suez Canal in Egypt in accordance with the Anglo
Egyptian Treaty of 1936. With Mussolini declaring war on England and France in June 1940, Britain
found itself surrounded by Italian forces.
Mussolini wanted to link the two sections of his

Italian American Culture
With Italians traveling to America to find a new world to explore and evolve in, they found some
interesting changes, and stereotypes that ended up transforming how they acted and dealt with
Americans. Italian American culture was a transition of hardships, to learning that the American
standard was not as strict as it was in Italy. Most of the men in our room worked at digging the sewer.
Bartolo got them the work and they paid him one quarter of their wages. Then he charged them for
board... (36 Black Boot Barn). This quote demonstrates to us, that people took advantage of the newer
Italian immigrants setting them not only a job, but shelter as well. While they were trying to find a
step to settle on, they had people who have been residents for a while use these people, until they
stood up and became more independent. There are examples of when something good was taught to
Italians, and they realized that America was not as uptight in accepting abuse. In Rosa s journey of
working in America she broke a lamp and started breaking down in tears, but then a lady said, But
Rosa, they said, you did a good thing! That lamp was terrible! Somebody gave it to us so we had to
keep it (Rosa 221). This demonstrates that, sometimes, breaking something or messing up was alright,
because it was a natural error that was accepted instead of a death penalty. In the school system,
stereotypes took a role in younger Italian children and what they were good at. The main character in

Seven and fifth century BC, Greece contained some of the most prepossessing and enchanting forms
of art ever made. The most common where statues, vases, temples and marble friezes. Greeks took
inspiration from ancient egyptian art, as that can be clearly see in all there artwork. Unlike the
Egyptians however, the Greeks looked for new ways to represent the human figure. They would take

Henry Sy
Our company, SM, as many of you may already know, came from the hard work of my dad, Henry Sy,
Sr. It is a rags to riches story that even myself did not realize until I went to trace his roots in China.
His journey from the thatched hut I saw there to the shopping centers he has today is something that
amazes even myself.
His determination, his discipline and his thriftiness have produced an astute and street smart
businessman who has influenced a lot of people. Including us, his children.
My father s perseverance during the different crises our country has gone through has made our active
business pursuits possible for a half century. True, he was disappointed with the economy many times,

The legendary motorcycle company, Harley Davidson was founded in 1903, by William D, Walter,
Arthur and William S. Harley right in their own backyard. By 1909, they had introduced the first V

be useful during World War I, where they supplied 20,000 to the military. After this war, the
depression threatened the motorcycle industry, and Harley Davidson and Indian were the only ones to

The Wild By Jon Krakauer
Psychology serves a Role Kids who have been a victim of maltreatment are often times hindered in
development as the rest of their life plays out. No matter the starting age, a family neglect can create
in kids an odd and unpleasant feeling. The constant exposure to depressors and bring me downs that
effected kids see really puts them into a terrible cycle. Some cases of maltreatment lead to
extraordinary stories and even more impressive characters. In Into the Wild, by Jon Krakauer, we can
observe that Chris McCandless fell into this vicious cycle, and was effected by it throughout his
adventurous life. Some of McCandless experiences later in life can be directly correlated with his
childhood difficulties. But, in order of make sense ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The way kids are raised by their parents effects their decision making and their values, beliefs and self
image until the day they die. If a kid grows up figuring things out herself or is neglected etc., that kid
is forced to do what is necessary to develop as fully as possible. Hamama and Arazi describe family
relationships as being crucial in the development of the child. The article specifies that two direct
ways that kids are hurt is through family cohesion and subjective well being. Family cohesion, in this
article, is defined as the connections between family members that each family has, while subjective
well being talks about people s understanding of the life they live and how they react to everyday
situations and how all that effects their emotional and cognitive mind. These two factors have shown
to be directly correlated to children acting aggressively or unpleasant, according to Hamama and
Arazi. Children s aggression behavior includes three parts, according to Hamama and Arazi. 1. A
cognitive dimension hostility;2.an emotional dimension anger; and 3. A behavioral dimension physical
and verbal violence is how they defined aggressive behavior. Those two factors are largely what
influences children and their development, in Hamama and Arazi s eyes(Hamama and Arazi). This
article lays a great foundation for the explanation of Into the Wild. Into the Wild is the non fiction
story of how Chris McCandless, a normal guy in his later

Best Performance Incentive Plan
The best performance incentive plans are the ones that work, of course, but what works for employees
cash or days off might not be what your organization can afford. Incentive plans that are effective at
motivating billers must be affordable and targeted to specific results. Most importantly, they must be
finite that is, not a permanent entitlement.
Put careful thought into the design, goals and timing of any incentive plan big or small. Use these 10
tips to shape your organization s incentives for billers:
1. Recognize that the revenue cycle is a function of many factors
Billing is an operational process, not a desk or a department. Your incentive plan should recognize that
everyone in the organization plays a role in the process. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Evaluate annually.
Review your incentive plan s overall results annually against the performance it is supposed to inspire.
In some cases, you may be able to put a cash value on the plan s impact: for example, the number of
reduced denials from practice caused errors times the cost of reworking a denied claim. Once you
reach a goal, such as collecting 100 percent of patient copayments at time of service, move on to other
targets.
10. Consider non monetary awards.
The problem with most financial incentive plans is that they become an expectation, which means
they are no longer motivating better performance but merely maintaining the status quo. Staff may
come to view the additional cash as part of their normal compensation. They may even start depending
on it. After the plan expires, morale (and results) can suffer as staff perceive that you took something
away from them.
You can alleviate many of these issues by sticking to short term plans three to six months. Better still,
consider a non monetary incentive plan. Non monetary awards can work well, and maybe better than
cash awards, because they are perceived as more spontaneous and

Poor Living Conditions In Canada Essay
Policy Issue The issue of poor living standards and conditions on First Nations reserves is one that has
been prevalent in Canada as early as the late 1800 s. Canadian First Nations were forced onto reserves
by the Canadian federal government, therefore it is the responsibility of the federal government for
developing a remedy for the harm they have caused.
Background
Since the first Europeans came to Canada hundreds of years ago, the First Nations have been seen and
treated as inferior peoples and thus treated in a deplorable manner. In 1876 the Indian Act was first
implemented and was changed most significantly in 1951 and 1985 . This act stipulated that the

However, as demonstrated in an article by The Canadian Press entitled Grinding poverty faced by
Manitoba First Nations worst in country: Aboriginal Affairs documents , even in 2015, Aboriginal
peoples are still faced with horrible living conditions. Furthermore, as stated in the article reports from
Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development demonstrated that First Nations in Manitoba are more
lively to grow up in poverty, leave school early, live off of social assistance programs in dilapidated
housing and also suffer family violence (Puxley, 2015). Moreover, there are higher levels of poverty,
unemployment, and domestic/family violence on reserves in comparison to the rest of the Canadian
population (Puxley, 2015). This article adequately demonstrates the conditions experience by First
Nations peoples in Canada (specifically in Manitoba). The article further stipulates that there are
constantly ads on the television and the radio asking people to donate to people in Africa without
running water and refugees in other countries, while turning a blind eye to the people living in
decrepit housing in their own country (Puxley, 2015). Finally, a key point is made, it s not as if the
Aboriginal peoples are not doing anything to improve their situations but they need government

Essay on Star of the Sea, what kind of man is Lord Kingscourt
Assignment 1
Star of the Sea by Joseph o Connor is a text set during the Irish Potato Famine, in 1847. The Irish
Potato famine of the 1840s was the greatest social catastrophe of 19th century Europe, yet inspired
surprisingly little imaginative writing. (Eagleton, 2002) However this book has been described by the
Sunday Times as having compelling characters and a dizzying narrative (Heaney, 2007) This
compelling story is set around a wealthy, turned bankrupt, land owner and his family who flee to
America, the promised land, in search of a new life. They are joined on this journey by a range of

Kingscourt finds the behaviour of the irish upper class hard to stomach (Ibid, Page 8), he doesn t like
the way the prosperous Irish were never done lampooning their rural countrymen (Ibid, Page 8). The
upper class usually find it acceptable to make fun of the lower classes, it is a form of humour to them.
However Lord Kingscourt does not hold this view, he cares about the people around him, regardless of
where they have came from or how much money they have. Lord Kingscourt has in fact often envied
them, (Ibid, Page 10). The previous night Lord Kingscourt had observed a member of steerage, either

Self Assessment Of The Classroom Essay
Self Assessment in the Classroom
Self Assessment is process by which students monitor and evaluate the quality of their thinking and
behavior when learning and then identify actions that could potentially improve their understanding
and skills. Furthermore, self assessment occurs when students check the work they ve accomplished
and identify discrepancies between current and desired performance (McMillan Hearn, 2008). Self
assessments can be used by the student and the teacher; a student would use it as a way to know if
they understand the information the teacher taught; the teacher can use self assessment in order to
better the course or teaching techniques. When students self assess their performance, it is important
that we know what techniques to apply and with effectiveness. I will be exploring how students self
assess their work, and how you can encourage better self assessment technique. This paper will also
review studies that relate to self assessment and what has been done to enhance their use. In all studies
used, only English as a first language students and students that are not going through special
education were able to participate in the study. This method of assessment can be integrated into
various classroom activities as well as traditional assessments. The ability to self assess one s learning
will encourage independence as a student, where you do not to rely on the criticism of others in order
to improve yourself.

With a unanimous 3 0 vote on January 14, 2014, the US Circuit Court of Appeals for the

Commission s (FCC) 2010 order to broadband service providers, or, net neutrality rules .
Simply put, net neutrality is the principle that broadband providers should treat all Internet content and
applications equally (Lyons). Based on telecommunications law, the FCC s 2010 order had created a
set of three primary rules for net neutrality to govern how broadband companies were to operate. The

Both Wu and Lyons approach the net neutrality debate from a legal angle these angles are, of course,
different and lead to drastically different trajectories.
Whereas Wu approaches it with a concern for fairness to the consumer and the small market ,
Lyons examines the apparent lack of fairness towards the providers. It goes without saying that the
repercussions of this angle for Lyons distance his argument from many audience.
Furthermore, both use history Wu, in terms of cyclical trends throughout history and new
technologies, and Lyons through a comprehensive analysis of the past and current applications of
unreasonable discrimination as laid out through §202. Ultimately, Lyons opines, that
broadband providers should be permitted the same flexibility [as telephone companies] and
invoking the traditional language of common carriage while redefining the duties that language

Living With Dementia
Introduction Dementia is a generic term used to describe symptoms that indicate significant loss of
intellectual and cognitive functions which includes memory, thinking and communication such as
changes in social behaviour and problem solving and the ability to carry out day today activities
(Alzheimer s society, 2014). The current estimate of people living with a form of dementia in the
United Kingdom is around 850,000 and has predicted to increase to over 1 million by 2025 and over 2
million by 2051 (Alzheimer s society, 2014). Of those affected with dementia, 90% eventually
develop behavioural and psychological symptoms (Hort et al, 2010; Steinberg et al 2008). Behavioural
and psychological symptoms include agitation, aggression, restlessness, depression and anxiety. These
symptoms cause higher morbidity and a poorer quality of life for patients and carers (Nilamadhab,
2009; Cerejeira, 2012). More than one third of people living with dementia have behaved
aggressively, particularly in the moderate to severe stages of the condition (Alzheimer s society 2014).

My Group Presentation Was Over Myasthenia Gravis
My group presentation was over myasthenia gravis. Myasthenia gravis (MG) is a neuromuscular auto
immune disease that is characterized by fatigable weakness in the skeletal muscles. This occurs at the
neuromuscular junction, in which acetylcholine that is being released by the pre synaptic neuron
attaches to receptors at the post synaptic neuron in order to generate a muscle contraction. Basically
the body produces antibodies that block, alter, or destroy these receptors thus halting motor neurons
from signaling the muscles to contract. It is currently unknown why the body makes these antibodies.
There are a multitude of ways of treating MG these include anticholinesterase, steroid, and
immunosuppressant medicines. In my paper, I will focus on the most long term solution of
thymectomy by first giving an overview of characteristics of the surgery, then contrasting open
thymectomy (trans sternal and trans cervical) and video assisted thoracic surgery (VATS), and finally
focusing on the overall effectiveness of the surgery. First we must define the term thymectomy, why it
is needed, who should receive it, and the goals of the surgery. A thymectomy in layman s terms is the
surgical removal of the thymus gland. The thymus plays a major role in immune defense for the
human body. As already stated MG is an autoimmune disease in which the body makes antibodies that
disrupts the function of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine. The thymus gland has been found as the

Criticism Of Andrew Clark An American Politician From The...
I am sure you would agree with me when I say we cannot escape the inevitability
(in ev i ta bility) of criticism. Aristotle once said, Criticism is something we can avoid easily by saying
nothing, doing nothing, and being nothing. But I beg to disagree because people will criticize you for
saying nothing, doing nothing and being nothing. Someone once said, Criticism is the muck in which
the plants of the Lord grow strong and no child of God should fear Criticism. Criticism has the
potential to help believers in their spiritual growth? Listen to what Frank Clark an American politician
from the early 1900s said, Criticism, like rain, should be gentle enough to nourish a man s growth
without destroying his roots.
Criticism comes in two forms, destructive and constructive. They are both self explanatory.
Nevertheless, destructive criticism has the potential for spiritual growth but that would depend on the
receiver. Destructive criticism can make us look inwardly ask the deep question, is it true of me. If the
criticism levied is true, then do what needs to be done to correct it. If the criticism is malicious then
ignore it and make sure you do not give your critics ammunition to prove their point.
I would admit that criticism is not always easy to handle. People can be crude but always remember
we are not responsible for the actions of others. We will only answer to God for our actions. The
gospel is bigger than our feelings and has serious implications for mankind. So

this brainy idea to enroll me in this school for enrichment; somehow this was supposed to be good for
me. It didn t make sense, nor did I care to share her enthusiasm of starting over in a new learning
environment. I was thrust out my comfort zone and probably would not have protested as much if the
change wasn t so drastic. It ll become clearer what I mean by this. The first day of school was filled
with the normal awkwardness; however, it was also permeated with amplified anxiety as I realize this
school was not in a great neighborhood. Some would call this the hood. I thought I was attending a
school for smart people. Now I am getting the meaning of some of my early teachings that there are
two types of smart; street smart and book smart. I am realizing that these two types of people

Cellular Pathophysiology
The two major hallmarks of Alzeheimer s, in terms of cellular pathology, are neuritic plaques and
neurofilbrillary tangles.
NFTs
Structure: paired helical filaments with some straight filaments
Major component: hyperphosphorylated tau protein
Tau protein is a microtubule associated protein that is normally located in the axon s microtubule
network
Adopt a somato dendritic distribution in the neuron
In pyramidal neurons they are flame shaped
In round neurons they appear round
Insoluble, resistant to clearance, persist even after the neuron dies
The pathophysiology surrounding neurofibrillary tangles and hyperphosphorylated tau is poorly
understood, but there are 2 theories as to how this works:
Tau protein aggregates trigger a stress ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Analysis Of David Cusic s The Iroquois Creation Story
David Cusic s, The Iroquois Creation Story, was published at the height of tensions between the
Native Americans and the expansion of the United States into their territory, and illustrates how the
Iroquois creation beliefs are actually similar in some comparison to that of Christianity. The story is
about how The Iroquois Confederacy believed the world was created and their views of good and evil.
This writing by David Cusic was extremely significant at the time because it was now the only written
account of this orally told story on paper written by a native of the Iroquois. Now by saying that, there
was already a version of the story written down before David Cusic, but it was by Frenchmen, Gabriel
Sagard, therefore his story did not have necessarily as much authentication and reliability behind it.
The Iroquois Confederacy, or in the native translation the people of the longhouse , was consisted of
six different tribes, which consisted of the Mohawks, Oneida, Onondaga, Cayuga, Seneca and after
1722 the Tuscarora (William 1). The author, David Cusic was born on an Oneida reservation, but he
was native to the Tuscarora. The confederacy was formed between 1570 and 1600 in order to be able
to prevent and stand against invasion, which they concluded each tribe if united would be more
effective if forming the confederacy. The Iroquois Confederacy could gain from a united front that
they are more organized then the other tribes. This would mean that the Europeans would see

Ted Kennedy Rhetorical Analysis In Jfk Speech
In the library of his father s house, on July 25th, 1969, Senator Edward Ted Kennedy would make one
of the most important speeches of his political career. Th e Senator was well put together, his hair in
place and his suit pressed, impeccable. He was far away from where the accident he was to talk about
had taken place, the Chappaquiddick. A team of his best speech writers had been assembled to create
this famous speech, and the papers lay out before him upon the desk. A firm tone and folded hands
showed resolve as he began to read aloud. Ted Kennedy started his speech by setting the time and
place of the accident to the forefront of the audience s mind. He spoke of how he had left the party
accompanied by the late Mary Jo Kopechne, who Edward stated he had no prior private relationship
with, nor any knowledge of past conduct that would lead to disrespectful speculation of her character.
Edward gave a clear picture of the events that night, using descriptive information to build credibility.
He stated that he was overcome with a jumble of negative emotions, making a more personable and
emotional connection with the viewers. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He spoke of how the last week had been agonizing for his family, and how the grief will remain for
the rest of their lives. This led some viewers to see him in a better light, slightly lessening the damage
to his reputation. He used that to preface his next statement, bringing up the question of whether his
reputation was so tarnished that he should resign his seat in the Senate. He used solemn body language
and vocal tones to show the serious nature of the situation and his possible decision, staring at the
camera with quiet

Application of Biometrics Science beyond Home Security
1.1 Background
Biometrics science is automatic techniques of identifying a human being based on either a behavior
vise or physic vise characteristic. Biometric technologies are of many kind such as dynamic signature
verification,/iris scanning, DNA recognition, face shape identification, voice recognition and
fingerprint validation. Biometric identification is more powerful to lower technology identification
techniques in common use today likely passwords, key, cards, tokens, PIN numbers and smart cards.
In exisisting system PINs (personal identification numbers) were one of the first identifiers object to
offer automated identification. Although, this means of identification of the PIN, not necessarily
recognition of the person who has entered it. The same thing can be applied with cards and other
tokens.
The token is the easiest way to recognize the person but the problem with this technology is that it can
be present by anybody, i.e. we cannot be sure that token is provided by authentic person only. So, we
can say the primary use of physical objects or behaviors based on memory has a large set of problems
and limitations. The other problems with objects are often lost or stolen and a behavior based on
memory is easily forgotten. Even Identity cannot be guaranteed, privacy cannot assume and
inappropriate use cannot be assured or denied.
Biometrics science is expected to be emerged in solutions such as to provide for Home Security which
also including applications

An Exploration of Different Theories of Evolution Essay
An Exploration of Different Theories of Evolution
Where did we come from? It is a question that has haunted the entire history of humanity. Thousands
of years ago, our ancestors sought to answer the question with myths. Today, we are still struggling
with the same question only today we seek to answer this mystery with science.
Given various observations, it seems plausible that all life arose from a few very simple organisms
millions of years ago. Observations of life will raise two important (though almost paradoxical)
questions: Why are there so many different kinds of life? And why do there appear to be some over
riding similarities among organisms? The diversity of life is apparent in the vast number of different ...

If all life on earth arose from one common ancestor it makes sense that they should have common
characteristics. Once the theory of evolution is accepted, there is still disagreement as the how
evolution occurred. This will be the focus of my paper.
Until quite recently, neo Darwinism as defined as the combination of Darwin s theory of evolution of
the species through gradual change guided by natural selection coupled with modern genetics was
accepted as THE theory of evolution. However, lately neo Darwinism has fallen out of favor. Since
neo Darwinism has always been the most widely Observations in nature would appear to support the
claims of Neo Darwinism. Just as Darwin hypothesized, organisms in nature do produce more
offspring than can survive and reproduce given the constraints of the environment. (12) Richard
Milton argues, however, that evolution does not arise from survival of the fittest , but rather survival
of the most prolific . (13) This argument is valid to a point. However, if an organism has a
characteristic that enables it to survive longer than its peers that organism will have time to breed
more times and therefore have more offspring.
Neo Darwinism rests on the theory that random genetic mutations over thousands of generations
resulted in evolution. And there have been studies proving that genetic mutations could serve as the
mechanism by which evolution occurs. A group of scientists in London discovered a way in which

Digital Music Piracy
Digital Music Piracy
Can t Stop, Won t Stop
Digital music piracy, or the unlawful downloading of copyrighted music, has been a controversial
topic for more than a decade now. The issue was first brought to attention in 1998 when Shawn
Fanning created Napster. Though the MP3 file was originally developed in 1987, Napster represented
the first mainstream and user friendly program to transfer and download these files. Napster, a peer to
peer (P2P) program, allowed online users to connect with one another and swap copyrighted music,
videos, and other files contained on their computers, thus providing a way to get free music online.
(157) Since music artists and record companies were uncompensated when consumers downloaded ...

(19) There is no doubt that downloading and CD R burning are cutting into sales, and that it is the
major means by which the majority of artists make a living from. Although touring is another source
of income it is impossible for it to fund an entire career. There are of course, some artists that are
reaching stardom and able to make a very substantial living, but as the CRIA said, for the industry that
has invested in them, those profits are turned right back into funding new artists. So if consumers want
a wide variety of music and their favorite artists to succeed, than they must support them by buying
their music, plain and simple. So what can be done to decrease music piracy? Besides creating new
laws, and suing P2P websites for copyright infringement there are other fronts being explored. On the
technological front labels are working with several companies in creating a more secure music format.
One example is DRM wrapped digital files and streams. A process used to limit the usage of digital
content. Other options include copy protected CD s, and products like Data Play, DVD Audio and
SACD, which basically only allow access of information to one specific user. On the commercial side
of the fight, record companies are beginning to offer much lower prices, new legitimate digital
services, as well as many special features like

Humanity and Its Way of Being Lost
Sanity, slowly fading away, with savagery slowly taking its place. Within the book, Lord of the Flies,
a group of young boys, ranging from ages of 3 to 13, were escaping from their all boys school within
an airplane. But unfortunately, the boys plane is attacked and the boys end upon a deserted island, and
all of the adults are dead. The boys take it upon themselves to survive, until they are rescued, but
being upon that island for so long, the boys soon lose who they are. Some don t want to be rescued,
and some have just lost it completely. Lives and personalities are lost to the invading savagery of the
island. Throughout the book, Golding shows how the boys upon the island slowly lose themselves.

Someone tripped over Ralph and Piggy s corner became a complication of snarls and crashes and
flying limbs (Golding, 167). The boys had already split apart, and the ones that had chosen the native
life, had already resorted to violence. They did not truly think anymore. They resorted to violence to
obtain Piggy s glasses instead of asking for fire. A sign that by changing the boys way of thinking, and
their barbaric nature slowly kicking in, the boys actions will highly be influenced. They will only
think of bloodshed as the answer. They will think of no other alternatives. Even if the alternative is
one of their own, being covered in dirt and blood.
The beast was on its knees in the center, its arms folded over its face. It was crying out against the
abominable noise something about a body on the hill. The beast struggled forward, broke the ring and
fell over the steep edge of the rock to the sand by the water. At once the crowd surged after it, poured
down the rock, leapt on to the beast, screamed, struck, bit, tore. There were no words, and no
movements but the tearing of teeth and claws (Golding, 153). The boys had became barbaric, and did
not think anymore. Some knew what they were doing was wrong, but kept doing it. They killed one of
their own, hoping to disillusion themselves with the knowledge that it was a beast in disguise, but they
all knew the truth. They knew it was one of them, but because of the violent barbaric influence of the

  • 2. A Living Horror Story Of The Holocaust It was 1942 in Frankfurt, Germany and you could almost make out the smell of the cold winter air. World War II was uprising and the Nazis were scattered all over Germany, they were taking hundreds of thousands of Jews each day. They were being taken to camps that no one ever returned from. The only people who did end up surviving, were those who escaped, and the stories that were being told by the escapers were a living horror story. In a small house, which was a faded blue color with missing roof pieces and slightly cracked windows, was a Jewish family of six with only two bedrooms to share and a living room that could barely fit three people. The parents, Claudia and Bruno, had both lost their job. They barely had enough food for two meals ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It had probably been about an hour or so after they had woken up, they had nothing to look forward to like school, sports or even playing outside with their friends they hadn t been outside since their parents left, except for Karla all there was to look forward to was eating once a day. No one knew what day it was or what time it was but it was probably in late January, they had missed Hanukkah. It was then about 10:00 pm and all the kids were sleeping besides for Klara, she was looking around in the dark, small place in the basement, she was wondering if she and the kids would make it through World War II, if they did where they would go (because for all they knew Claudia could have been dead) and how would they live. A pounding sound on the floor above startled Karla and she lost her train of thought. Her heart pounded harder as the pounding got closer and closer to the basement, then her life started to fall apart after one single second. One of the officers lifted up the top of the emergency room door and there he was, a tall man with perfectly jelled brown hair and dirt ugly brown eyes that matched the ugly off green uniform they wore. Karla sat up and stared right up at him as if she had never seen anyone like that before, he stared right back at her. Get up and get out of there this instant! demanded the officer. Karla obeyed the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Human Primates And Human Primate For my final paper for this class I will be going over and portraying the behavior of non human primate and human primate in the literature and movies we went over, compared to the evolutionary understandings of primate behavior. Throughout this class we studied and compared the different primates, including human and non humans. According to the Wikipedia, The primate lineage is thought to go back at least 65 million years ago. with that one could say that research on non human and human primate can somehow explain the theory behind evolution. In addition to the different reading materials we had in class we also watched several movies displaying different behaviors of non human primate and human primate. With that saying, I developed a thesis statement, despite its differences and similarities between non human primates and human primates behavior, can evolution be understood differently when comparing the two through various readings, movies and evolutionary research. Throughout this paper I will be going over the differences and similarities in behavior, evolution, a higher power and even my take on such an opposition. First, I want to go over and talk about the Evolutionary Theory. The Evolutionary Theory is a theory that has been supported by years of experiments which is known as being one of the best speculation of natural occurrence. The changes on earth through different events that occurred over time could be the cause of such a variety of species to exist on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Southwest Airlines Aphorism Introduction Many organizations implement a strategic plan to grow their company or take a step towards success. The result of that plan is either efficacious or a failure. Southwest Airlines Corporation is no exception to the rule. Their success is based on a few key components that have kept them as a profitable company, with happy employees and customers. History and mission of the organization Southwest Airlines Corporation, which was essentially established in 1971, has become one of the most well known airlines to date. The cofounder, Herb Kelleher, had a simple motto to follow when he began the company: If you get your passengers to their destinations when they want to get there, on time, at the lowest possible fares, and make darn sure they have a good time doing it, people will fly your airline (About Southwest, n.d., p. 1). This is a pretty simple concept, in that as a corporation you take care of your customers and employees and in turn you will have a higher morale within the organization. In addition, a higher customer gratification will be a result of Mr. Kelleher s astute aphorism. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is the low fares they provide for their flights. Kelleher emphasizes about this in his interview with Chuck Lucier, a senior vice president emeritus of Booz Allen Hamilton. Kelleher speaks about the profitability of Southwest, about the reliability of its employers, and the dependability of customers to be able to fly at the lowest rate possible and to be able to travel within the timeframe that they demand (Lucier, 2004, paras. 1 7). In my personal experiences, in flying on a number of flights with several different airlines, I have found the mission statement to be true. I use Southwest Airlines as a starting point to look for flights simple because of their low fares are usually the best bargain, in addition to their flexible flight ... • 5. Naked Preferences And The Constitution Because the Constitution i s rooted in civil republicanism, its clauses must reflect accompanying notions of civic virtue . In Naked Preferences and the Constitution, Professor Cass R. Sunstein identifies a unifying theme across the various clauses of the Constitution: the prohibition of the distribution of resources or opportunities to one group rather than another solely on the ground that those favored have exercised the raw political power to obtain what they want. Sunstein calls this type of prohibited evil a naked preference. When naked preferences are prohibited, any government action must be justified by reference to some legitimate public value. Ensuring that government action avoids naked preferences and upholds recognized public values is how the courts prevent the danger of factional tyranny. When a group is treated differently than another solely because of a raw exercise of political power, a naked preference is at work. Self interested groups are thus prohibited from seeking to obtain wealth or opportunities at the expense of other groups or individuals solely by this raw exercise. A legitimate public value may be any justification for government that goes beyond the exercise of raw political power. One of the key considerations is what sort of alleged public values the courts will accept as legitimate. At this juncture, courts have a few options; the test for smoking out naked preferences may be weak, strong, or, perhaps, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He grew up in a family of seven, with four other siblings, a mother and father characteristics of a happy family but instead turn out to be quite the opposite. As a child he suffered from chronic asthmatic bronchitis and rheumatic fever debilitating most of his childhood. Surrounded by death, Munch witnessed the passing of most of his family. One by one his mother, sister, and even Munch himself suffered from Tuberculosis, however, he would be the only one to survive it. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Munch would always be reminded of his family s death, their torment followed his shadow and further encroached on his mind the more time went on. Various styles, motifs, and paintings from artists such as Claude Monet and Eugène Carrière inspired his work. However, Carrière s Sick Child, 1885 would be a pivoting point in influencing his own painting of the same name. One of Munch s first work that showed his notorious style can be seen in The Sick Child, 1886 painting just a year after Carrière s. His painting depicts his sister Sophie bedridden from Tuberculosis and his mother mourning beside her waiting for her to pass. He paints in a very melancholy tone and the color gives the viewer the impression of sickness and sorrow. He expresses his feelings years later describing how few have ever experienced the full grief of their subject as I did in The Sick Child. (qtd. in Prideaux 85 86). Munch s painterly style allows us to feel the anguish and pain he must have felt while painting The Sick Child. His process is also rather significant compared to the end product itself and provides clear insight into his emotional state whilst he painted. Munch not only painted with a brush but he chose to also use a palette knife for this particular painting to show the marks of visible misery, which can be seen with the scratchy and unfinished texture. What is even more interesting is his use of layers. His determination in layering his painting over and over for a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. 10.4 Disadvantages Of Cellular Layout 10.4 COMPARISON OF INFORMATION FLOW In existing layout the production line is very long, starting from preparatory to the end of assembly. Because of this, communication and information flow is difficult and for each and every thing supervisor has to walk around the line frequently. In case of new layout (cellular layout) the information flow is effective and quick. Because, the group of people who are in the same cell, works in compact area where each operator is in direct contact with other operator of the cell and they know each other s job inside the cell. This makes information flow fast and accurate. Whereas this cannot be achieved in long assembly line; where one operator is in contact with only two operators (one operator before and one operator after his operation) so neither he can give any suggestion nor he knows the issues of other operation i.e. workers are not participating in each other s work, rather working independently. 10.5 COMPARISON OF REWORK LEVEL The rework level has been decreased by 80% over existing trends. In existing production, the rework level is approximately 5% but after implementation of recommended layout the rework level falls to 1%. The main reason for rework reduction is due to reduction in WIP and balanced work cells. Due to low ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... So there is no arguing that someone is doing a difficult operation and others are working in easier operations. On the other hand, this is not possible in batch production because of specific allocated work for the whole day. Similarly, in case of new layout, operators are treated as a group inside the cell so their combined effort is to do better and produce more. Likewise, operators cannot work carelessly because they will be immediately caught by the next operator inside the cell, so the combined result of all these factors motivates them to do better in each ... Castles were not built for defense alone; they were symbols of social status, wealth, power, and intimidation. By ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I will first discuss these activities before turning to mainstream and ethnic media. Dual nature of othering Authors (Bailey et al., 2007; Canales, 2000; Haynes et al., 2006) acknowledge the dual nature of the process of othering where it simultaneously causes exclusion and inclusion. Haynes et al. (2006) formulate it precisely when they state that the construction of an other is, in fact, a dual process whereby an imagined included us is created through the construction of an excluded other (p.13). Exclusionary othering uses the power within relationships for domination and subordination. People who experience this form of othering often experience alienation, marginalization, decreased opportunities, internalized oppression and exclusion. Inclusionary othering on the other hand, attempts to utilize power within relationships for transformation and coalition building. Individuals who experience this form of othering , potentially undergo consciousness raising, sense of community, shared power and inclusion (Canales, 2000). Complementing this dual nature of othering , Schmidt Bunkers (2003) explains the remarkable paradox concerning the other: Never has the world been more dangerous, with terrorism continuing to spark suspicions of those that are different from us. And, never, at the same time, has the world been more in need of finding ways to embrace those that are different and those that are viewed as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The unit deployed to Libya in order to support the Italian Army that had recently suffered setbacks against the British forces. For the next two years, Rommel s forces fought across the North African desert against British forces led by Generals Archibald Wavell, Claude Auchinleck, and Bernard Montgomery. The culminating point for this campaign was the two battles of El Alamein, after which the Germans retreated to Tunisia and eventually surrendered. This case study will examine the history, preparation, execution, results, and lessons learned during the Battles of El Alamein and how that defeat helped lead to the overall Axis defeat in World War II (WWII). History The fighting on the African continent began before WWII. Italy, in the late 19th century, had colonies in Libya, Eritrea, and Somaliland (now Somalia). In 1935, Bunito Mussolini, the dictator of Italy, wanted to have an Italian East African Empire. To accomplish this, his Italian forces conquered Ethiopia by 1936, forming his empire consisting of Somaliland, Eritrea, and Ethiopia. The British, meanwhile, provided soldiers for the defense of the Suez Canal in Egypt in accordance with the Anglo Egyptian Treaty of 1936. • 23. Italian American Culture With Italians traveling to America to find a new world to explore and evolve in, they found some interesting changes, and stereotypes that ended up transforming how they acted and dealt with Americans. Italian American culture was a transition of hardships, to learning that the American standard was not as strict as it was in Italy. Most of the men in our room worked at digging the sewer. Bartolo got them the work and they paid him one quarter of their wages. Then he charged them for board... (36 Black Boot Barn). This quote demonstrates to us, that people took advantage of the newer Italian immigrants setting them not only a job, but shelter as well. While they were trying to find a step to settle on, they had people who have been residents for a while use these people, until they stood up and became more independent. There are examples of when something good was taught to Italians, and they realized that America was not as uptight in accepting abuse. In Rosa s journey of working in America she broke a lamp and started breaking down in tears, but then a lady said, But Rosa, they said, you did a good thing! That lamp was terrible! Somebody gave it to us so we had to keep it (Rosa 221). This demonstrates that, sometimes, breaking something or messing up was alright, because it was a natural error that was accepted instead of a death penalty. Once you reach a goal, such as collecting 100 percent of patient copayments at time of service, move on to other targets. 10. Consider non monetary awards. The problem with most financial incentive plans is that they become an expectation, which means they are no longer motivating better performance but merely maintaining the status quo. Staff may come to view the additional cash as part of their normal compensation. They may even start depending on it. After the plan expires, morale (and results) can suffer as staff perceive that you took something away from them. Someone once said, Criticism is the muck in which the plants of the Lord grow strong and no child of God should fear Criticism. Criticism has the potential to help believers in their spiritual growth? Listen to what Frank Clark an American politician from the early 1900s said, Criticism, like rain, should be gentle enough to nourish a man s growth without destroying his roots. Criticism comes in two forms, destructive and constructive. They are both self explanatory. Nevertheless, destructive criticism has the potential for spiritual growth but that would depend on the receiver. Destructive criticism can make us look inwardly ask the deep question, is it true of me. If the criticism levied is true, then do what needs to be done to correct it. If the criticism is malicious then ignore it and make sure you do not give your critics ammunition to prove their point. I would admit that criticism is not always easy to handle. People can be crude but always remember we are not responsible for the actions of others. We will only answer to God for our actions. The gospel is bigger than our feelings and has serious implications for mankind. So ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. Auto Repair Research Paper Where is that noise coming from? Is there a squeaking or grinding sound when you press the brake pedal, does it go all the way down to the floorboard when you try to stop your vehicle? These are signs that your brake pads need to be replaced. Auto repair shops usually charge between two and four hundred dollars to replace brake pads. Nevertheless, it is a fairly easy process for someone that is handy and somewhat mechanically inclined. Follow these nine simple steps and you can replace the disc brake pads on your car in two to three hours. 1) Familiarize yourself with the steps accordingly so you know what is needed. Make a list of the required tools, parts, and supplies for these repairs. Look up your ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When replacing brake pads you must replace two tires at the same time, front tires or rear tires. This will prevent the car from pulling to one side while driving and creating a dangerous situation. Brake pads are sold in sets as this is a requirement when replacing worn brake pads. 9) Before driving the car, press the brake pedal down in a pumping motion to allow the brake caliper pistons to return to the correct position and pressurize the brake pad lines. You should now test drive the vehicle in a parking lot to ensure that everything is in good working condition before taking the car on a public road. Now that you have replaced the brake pads on your car you now have bragging rights to your friends for doing it yourself and saving the high cost of the mechanic. • 41. My School For High School Years have passed and now I have reached Junior High School. I should be happy because of my smartness ; I was chosen to go to a special school for student enrichment. However, I am not happy because the school my mother selected for me is far away from the neighbor, and the school district where I lived had just built a brand new school within walking distance from my home; most of my friends are attending there, and I could not understand why my mother chose to send me across town. However, my mother enrolled me in a different district, which meant I had to travel either by city bus or walk. The bus trip would take about an hour and the walk was at least 10 15 miles. My mother had this brainy idea to enroll me in this school for enrichment; somehow this was supposed to be good for me. It didn t make sense, nor did I care to share her enthusiasm of starting over in a new learning environment. I was thrust out my comfort zone and probably would not have protested as much if the change wasn t so drastic. It ll become clearer what I mean by this. The first day of school was filled with the normal awkwardness; however, it was also permeated with amplified anxiety as I realize this school was not in a great neighborhood. Some would call this the hood. I thought I was attending a school for smart people. Now I am getting the meaning of some of my early teachings that there are two types of smart; street smart and book smart. I am realizing that these two types of people ... • 43. Analysis Of David Cusic s The Iroquois Creation Story David Cusic s, The Iroquois Creation Story, was published at the height of tensions between the Native Americans and the expansion of the United States into their territory, and illustrates how the Iroquois creation beliefs are actually similar in some comparison to that of Christianity. The story is about how The Iroquois Confederacy believed the world was created and their views of good and evil. This writing by David Cusic was extremely significant at the time because it was now the only written account of this orally told story on paper written by a native of the Iroquois. Now by saying that, there was already a version of the story written down before David Cusic, but it was by Frenchmen, Gabriel Sagard, therefore his story did not have necessarily as much authentication and reliability behind it. The Iroquois Confederacy, or in the native translation the people of the longhouse , was consisted of six different tribes, which consisted of the Mohawks, Oneida, Onondaga, Cayuga, Seneca and after 1722 the Tuscarora (William 1). The author, David Cusic was born on an Oneida reservation, but he was native to the Tuscarora. The confederacy was formed between 1570 and 1600 in order to be able to prevent and stand against invasion, which they concluded each tribe if united would be more effective if forming the confederacy. The Iroquois Confederacy could gain from a united front that they are more organized then the other tribes. This would mean that the Europeans would see ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Ted Kennedy Rhetorical Analysis In Jfk Speech In the library of his father s house, on July 25th, 1969, Senator Edward Ted Kennedy would make one of the most important speeches of his political career. Th e Senator was well put together, his hair in place and his suit pressed, impeccable. He was far away from where the accident he was to talk about had taken place, the Chappaquiddick. A team of his best speech writers had been assembled to create this famous speech, and the papers lay out before him upon the desk. A firm tone and folded hands showed resolve as he began to read aloud. Ted Kennedy started his speech by setting the time and place of the accident to the forefront of the audience s mind. He spoke of how he had left the party accompanied by the late Mary Jo Kopechne, who Edward stated he had no prior private relationship with, nor any knowledge of past conduct that would lead to disrespectful speculation of her character. Edward gave a clear picture of the events that night, using descriptive information to build credibility. • 45. Application of Biometrics Science beyond Home Security 1.1 Background Biometrics science is automatic techniques of identifying a human being based on either a behavior vise or physic vise characteristic. Biometric technologies are of many kind such as dynamic signature verification,/iris scanning, DNA recognition, face shape identification, voice recognition and fingerprint validation. Biometric identification is more powerful to lower technology identification techniques in common use today likely passwords, key, cards, tokens, PIN numbers and smart cards. In exisisting system PINs (personal identification numbers) were one of the first identifiers object to offer automated identification. Although, this means of identification of the PIN, not necessarily recognition of the person who has entered it. The same thing can be applied with cards and other tokens. The token is the easiest way to recognize the person but the problem with this technology is that it can be present by anybody, i.e. we cannot be sure that token is provided by authentic person only. So, we can say the primary use of physical objects or behaviors based on memory has a large set of problems and limitations. The other problems with objects are often lost or stolen and a behavior based on memory is easily forgotten. Even Identity cannot be guaranteed, privacy cannot assume and inappropriate use cannot be assured or denied. Biometrics science is expected to be emerged in solutions such as to provide for Home Security which also including applications ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. An Exploration of Different Theories of Evolution Essay An Exploration of Different Theories of Evolution Where did we come from? It is a question that has haunted the entire history of humanity. Thousands of years ago, our ancestors sought to answer the question with myths. Today, we are still struggling with the same question only today we seek to answer this mystery with science. Given various observations, it seems plausible that all life arose from a few very simple organisms millions of years ago. Observations of life will raise two important (though almost paradoxical) questions: Why are there so many different kinds of life? And why do there appear to be some over riding similarities among organisms? The diversity of life is apparent in the vast number of different ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If all life on earth arose from one common ancestor it makes sense that they should have common characteristics. Once the theory of evolution is accepted, there is still disagreement as the how evolution occurred. This will be the focus of my paper. Until quite recently, neo Darwinism as defined as the combination of Darwin s theory of evolution of the species through gradual change guided by natural selection coupled with modern genetics was accepted as THE theory of evolution. However, lately neo Darwinism has fallen out of favor. Since neo Darwinism has always been the most widely Observations in nature would appear to support the claims of Neo Darwinism. Just as Darwin hypothesized, organisms in nature do produce more offspring than can survive and reproduce given the constraints of the environment. (12) Richard Milton argues, however, that evolution does not arise from survival of the fittest , but rather survival of the most prolific . (13) This argument is valid to a point. However, if an organism has a characteristic that enables it to survive longer than its peers that organism will have time to breed more times and therefore have more offspring. Neo Darwinism rests on the theory that random genetic mutations over thousands of generations resulted in evolution. And there have been studies proving that genetic mutations could serve as the mechanism by which evolution occurs. A group of scientists in London discovered a way in which ... • 47. Digital Music Piracy Digital Music Piracy Can t Stop, Won t Stop Digital music piracy, or the unlawful downloading of copyrighted music, has been a controversial topic for more than a decade now. The issue was first brought to attention in 1998 when Shawn Fanning created Napster. Though the MP3 file was originally developed in 1987, Napster represented the first mainstream and user friendly program to transfer and download these files. Napster, a peer to peer (P2P) program, allowed online users to connect with one another and swap copyrighted music, videos, and other files contained on their computers, thus providing a way to get free music online. (157) Since music artists and record companies were uncompensated when consumers downloaded ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (19) There is no doubt that downloading and CD R burning are cutting into sales, and that it is the major means by which the majority of artists make a living from. Although touring is another source of income it is impossible for it to fund an entire career. There are of course, some artists that are reaching stardom and able to make a very substantial living, but as the CRIA said, for the industry that has invested in them, those profits are turned right back into funding new artists. So if consumers want a wide variety of music and their favorite artists to succeed, than they must support them by buying their music, plain and simple. So what can be done to decrease music piracy? Besides creating new laws, and suing P2P websites for copyright infringement there are other fronts being explored. On the technological front labels are working with several companies in creating a more secure music format. One example is DRM wrapped digital files and streams. A process used to limit the usage of digital content. Other options include copy protected CD s, and products like Data Play, DVD Audio and SACD, which basically only allow access of information to one specific user. On the commercial side of the fight, record companies are beginning to offer much lower prices, new legitimate digital services, as well as many special features like ... The boys had already split apart, and the ones that had chosen the native life, had already resorted to violence. They did not truly think anymore. They resorted to violence to obtain Piggy s glasses instead of asking for fire. A sign that by changing the boys way of thinking, and their barbaric nature slowly kicking in, the boys actions will highly be influenced. They will only think of bloodshed as the answer. They will think of no other alternatives. Even if the alternative is one of their own, being covered in dirt and blood. The beast was on its knees in the center, its arms folded over its face. It was crying out against the abominable noise something about a body on the hill. The beast struggled forward, broke the ring and fell over the steep edge of the rock to the sand by the water. At once the crowd surged after it, poured down the rock, leapt on to the beast, screamed, struck, bit, tore. There were no words, and no movements but the tearing of teeth and claws (Golding, 153). The boys had became barbaric, and did not think anymore. Some knew what they were doing was wrong, but kept doing it.
