This document summarizes a study that evaluated stabilizing black cotton soil using alkali-activated fly ash. Black cotton soil is problematic for construction due to its swelling and shrinking behavior. The study tested different percentages of fly ash (10%, 20%, 30%) activated with sodium hydroxide and sodium silicate added to black cotton soil. Testing showed that engineering properties like the liquid limit, plastic limit, and plasticity index improved when 20% fly ash was added. The maximum dry density increased and optimum moisture content decreased with 20% fly ash addition. The free swell index and California bearing ratio, which indicates soil strength, also improved most with 20% fly ash addition. The study concluded that 20% fly ash with the alkali
