Abnormal Psychology Vs Psychopathology Essay
1) Compare and contrast the concepts of abnormal psychology and psychopathology and the
implicit assumptions of both terms. Considering abnormal psychology is an alternative definition
of psychopathology, it is assumed they are different in the eyes of society. Psychopathology is a
term focused on the psyche (mind, soul) and a disorder (dysfunction, diseased, unhealthy and
illness). It is also based from deviations from statistical and social norms along with maladaptive
behavior, distress and impairment. Although abnormal psychologyand psychopathology are defined
the same, abnormal psychologyis often viewed from a perspective that individuals who are
suffering from mental health issues as likely to be considered abnormal either in the statistical or
the functional sense. By being identified as abnormal , it portrays that a person struggling with
psychopathology are not normal , which cultivates stigmatization (illness/dangerousness) among
society. Acknowledging that many people could be considered abnormal in a statistical sense, it
does not make that person pathological. A few great examples of an abnormal deviation would be
a group of women having a 13 shoe size, or a group of men measuring at 4 ft. Even though these
individuals fell outside the statistical norm range, they are considered abnormal; which does not
identify them to be pathological, just different.
Another good example would be a group of individuals scoring high in an IQ assessment. Although

The 1920s was a very eventful time period for the US crime scene. With the emergences of major
crime bosses like Al Capone, Meyer Lansky, Charles Luciano, and others there was much to be
done in the crime world. Charles Lucky Luciano (born as Salvatore Lucania) would become a key
player in the reshaping and modernization of the mafia and the crime world. Young Luciano would
show signs of pursuing a criminal career. His parents and family however disapproved of their
son s action and career path and essentially exiled him, respecting his family s wishes he would
later change his name from Salvatore Lucania to Charles Luciano. He also by the age of 10 he
involved extortion, and thievery. Upon his arrest for the distribution of drugs in 1915, the police
would offered to release him if he would tell them what he knew about the mob, Luciano however
refused to talk due to the Sicilian code of silence, this action would vastly considered pivotal in fast

He would later leave the Five Points gang (soon afterwards the gang would crumple after key
players such as Al Capone and Lucky Luciano left the gang). He would join crime boss Joe
Masseria as his chief lieutenant and oversee Masseria s crime empire. By doing this Luciano
would learn the internals of the crime world and how operations worked. He also profited greatly
from the operations and would soon become a rich man, he was also running Manhattan s sole
prostitution ring using execution as a manor to keep things under control Along this time he
would also be abducted, beaten, stabbed repeatedly with an ice pick, had his throat slit from ear to

Personal Statement On Life s Hustle And Bustle
In life s hustle and bustle sometimes it s easy to get lost in the whole process leaving you
wondering is your life leading you instead of you leading it. I needed to find some personal
fulfillment in my life. So I had to do a self check to discover what my true purpose was in this
life. How impactful was I in changing the world. I was completely satisfied raising my son and
being engaged in everything he was involved in. However, the closer it came for him to graduate
from high school the more I began to think about what my new life would be like. I had to deal
with the persisting question of what did I want to do with the rest of my life. Overall, I felt like I
was a pretty decent mother, an awesome friend, a loving sister and I have a faith based foundation.
Even with all those great attributes I still didn t know what my true purpose was here on earth.
When I think of the questions easily, the first thing I thought of was philanthropy. Living a
healthy lifestyle would be next. I m very excited about getting the chance to expound on my
future in leadership and mentoring rolls. Next, I want to explore what full potential and purpose
is and how can I be a positive impact on the world. At this stage of my life I feel that it says Yes to:
being a philanthropist, having a health and wellness for my body and soul as well as being involved
in leadership and mentoring.
Philanthropy was an easy choice for me because it s something that I ve been doing for quite some
time. I

during a depression, the demand for online business course or education course will rise. This is

Ratios And Ratio Analysis
Ratios Ratio Analysis Reading a company s financials requires a deep understanding of financial
statements and relationships between them. Calculating different performance indicators from the
statements requires knowing each sector/segment in them. Finally, the numbers by itself do not say
anything specific or definitive about a company because numbers need to be compared to the
historical figures of the same company, competitors and an industry. Ratios and their analysis are
helpful in revealing at least part of a story, but as with the statements numbers ratios by itself are not
useful until they compared to the historical ratios of a company and to other companies within the
industry. There are four categories of ratios: Profitability... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First, any ratio must be computed correctly. It means, that we should now how a ratio was
computed before making any conclusions. As with the numbers in the financial statements any
ratio can be calculated to look more favorable. Second, any ratio by itself is meaningless unless
we know a company s industry. In addition, we should know what strategy a company is
pursuing. Otherwise, looking at low leverage and liquidity ratios while a company is
aggressively expanding and using every possible way to finance that, may lead us to the wrong
assumptions. Third, comparing current ratios with the past ones should include any conditions
that directly affect a company s performance from the inside and outside. For example, economic
conditions (recession); maybe an industry has changed; or maybe a company was sold, merged,
went through bankruptcy or CEO stepped down; maybe a company from a hardware manufacturer
became a service company like Xerox or IBM; even things like currency exchange rates do affect a
company s performance. Fourth, benchmarking a company to other companies requires a careful
selection of competitors. Not only the size matters, but also if the products or services are similar
(Dell Apple, while in the same industry, do not have the same products except sharing the category
computers). Moreover, a different business strategies these companies are using matter. Fifth,

The Importance of Elections as a Linkage Institution and...
14 October 2012 American Politics Midterm Exam Question 3 The Importance of Elections as a
Linkage Institution and Voting Linkage institutions can be defined as institutions that connect
citizens with the government. Examples of linkage institutions include elections, political parties,
interest groups, and the media. Elections specifically are supposed to encourage public participation
in the selection of governmental officials. Unfortunately, low voter turnout has proved that
elections are an imperfect linkage institution. Elections depend on voters to be successful, and some
factors that relate to the likelihood of voting include age, education, and race. Although some

Even after the passing of the Fifteenth Amendment, African Americans were disenfranchised in the
South by intimidation and electoral trickery, including whites only primaries, rigged literacy tests,
and poll taxes (Patterson 2011, p. 180). The Freedom Riders rode through the South, enduring
harassment and imprisonment to encourage other African Americans to vote. Voter turnout in
African American communities is greatly encouraged. Personally, coming from an African
American family, I was strongly encouraged by my parents and grandparents to vote when I was of
legal age. My family instilled the importance of voting in me at a very young age. Although voter
turnout among African Americans is still fairly low, in the 2008 presidential election African
Americans had the second highest voter turnout, behind non Hispanic Caucasians (African
Americans, n.d.). Race can influence voter turnout because with African Americans specifically,
although rates are getting better, they are still not high. One factor that decreases voter turnout is
the misconception that a person s vote does not matter. Alienation is a feeling of personal
powerlessness that includes the feeling that the government does not care about individual people.
These people believe that the government will not respond to their concerns even if they do vote.
The problem is that a large portion of the population shares this attitude. People can have negative

If a woman tries to repress her psychological response, does she develop a physical reaction? One
type of disorder that develops among many women who have experienced sexual assault is called
Post Traumatic Stress Disorder or PTSD. While the exact symptoms, and the length that PTSD lasts
varies, the disorder is found among many victims of sexual assault.
The symptoms of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder vary. They can include an increased level of
anxiety, which can result in difficulty sleeping, concentrating, and an exaggerated response to
noise. PTSD can affect a woman who has experienced sexual assault ability to remember past
events, in particular events associated with her assault. (2) PTSD can cause feelings of
detachment and numbness, as well as a desire to avoid anything that the victim might associate
with her assault. While doctors have been able to identify the symptoms in many victims of
sexual assault the exact cause of the disorder is still questioned. Is the disorder the body s
response to trauma? If so what relationship exists between the symptoms associated with PTSD
as trauma? A strong correlation has been found between sufferers of PTSD and poor health. (3)
PTSD can lead to depression and sickness. PTSD if not treated can also indirectly cause
accidents that can affect a victim s health. These accidents can be the result high levels of anxiety,
of a lack of ability to focus, and a lack of ability to respond.

The major objective of the government fiscal policy was to restrict the growth of current
expenditure to a level below the growth of the nominal GDP, thereby making more resources
available to support annual development programme (ADP) undertaken in each year. In line with
the Enhanced Structural Adjustment Facility (ESAF) of the IMF, a number of reforms were
initiated, the most important of which was the introduction of value added tax (VAT) in July 1991.
VAT was introduced at a uniform rate of 15% at the manufacturing cum import level. Together with
protection neutral supplementary duties, this system largely replaced the earlier structure of
differentiated sales tax on import and excise duties on domestic goods. In case of personal income
tax, the major reforms involved the inclusion of entertainment allowances in the personal income
tax base, deduction of investment in approved assets from the tax base, and an introduction of a
withholding tax on dividend with limitation of special expenditure within a reasonable limit. Steps
were taken to reduce interest rates on government savings instruments and subsidies for food and
jute. A good number of public sector enterprises were denationalised through sales to the private
sector.
These reform measures resulted in a remarkable improvement in the fiscal situation of Bangladesh
after 1990. The growth of current expenditures was contained below the

The reformation performed by Teresa of Avila created an evident change as she struggled
against the fact that men were only able do things such as reforming the church. It was
extremely unusual for women to make significant changes thus, it was very much a start of
women gaining power in religious aspects. Another achievement that led to a change in
Catholics was Teresa s writings and books. Her books were about her travels, reformation and
establishment of convents and were guidance for the other nuns/Catholics. After 25 years, in the
Carmelite convent, Teresa established a small convent in Avila called St Joseph s and this was
the beginning of Teresa establishing many other convents allowing other females to also
become nuns. St Teresa also found that some of the church was corrupt and tried to bring it back
to focusing on the primitive rule so that Catholics could enjoy all that God has to offer. Although
this was successful Teresa was unable to remain in this place of prayer, for the rest of her life, so
she decided to travel across Spain, establishing new convents and followed her reform vision of
the Discalced Carmelite life. Hence, it is clearly illustrated that Teresa of Avila changed the way
many catholic saw the world by using just her actions and

The Benefits Of Tailored Mentoring
Introduction
Mentoring is an excellent way to teach students about any subject. Whether it s math, science,
social studies, art, or literature, being a mentor is a satisfying feeling. For a mentee who struggles
with particular subjects, they might want to consider getting a mentor. The biggest challenge is
having a student that is gifted can be a frustrating and counterproductive use of time. Science and
psychologists have studied effective ways to teach gifted students through tailored mentoring
programs. They have shown to be successful, but there are a lot of questions why it is so
successful. Finding the answers is beneficial to both the mentor and the mentee, so they re on the
same page.
What is Tailored Peer Mentoring?
Tailored peer mentoring is a program that is designed to help a gifted student learn, based on their
needs. Depending on what the student needs, the mentorship should teach in a certain manner so
the gifted student understands. While it is not a common form of mentorship, tailoring a program
based on the student has started to gain traction. It s well known that not everyone learns at the
same rate, but by forming a program that will help them learn at their own pace. It s important that
a mentor shows patience and knows how to work with different gifted ... Show more content on

material. Perhaps the mentor makes the gifted student feel more comfortable and asking more
insightful questions about the material. Considering there are four effective learning processes,
perhaps a mentor is better at teaching those Big Four learning processes. Students who do receive
tailored peer mentoring have a chance to learn subjects at their own pace, instead of trying to keep

St. John s Wort Essay
It s hard for most of us to avoid a certain amount of stress, anxiety, depression, and fatigue these
days. The pace of modern life, and all its excessive stimulation, takes a toll on our bodies and
minds. When we can t escape from it, many of us resort to harmful addictions or medications to
help us through. In the last couple of decades, though, certain natural (plant derived) substances
have begun to garner reputations for helping to give people an overall feeling of well being. St
John s Wort is one notable example of an herb used to treat depression. Another, which is more
commonly associated with combating anxietyand easing stress, is Kava. Kava is a relatively
recent arrival on the shelves of health stores. Requiring a warm and moist climate, the plant had
previously been known only around the South Pacific islands particularly, New Guinea, New
Zealand, and Hawaii. There it was renowned for promoting, in those who imbibed it, feelings of
relaxation and contentment and, in large doses, of intoxication. Many old native practices for the
preparation of Kava involved chewing bits of the root (where its active ingredients, known as
kavalactones, chiefly reside) and spitting them out into a great bowl. Once enough was
accumulated, this pretty unappetizing mead was mixed with water or coconut milk until desired
strength was achieved. Probably few of us would be adventurous enough to sample that original
version of the drink, and chewing the root itself numbs one s

Negotiation Reflection
Negotiation is one of the most common approaches used to make decisions and manage disputes. It
is also the major building block for many other alternative dispute resolution procedures. According
to Christopher W (2012), negotiation is the principal way that people redefine an old relationship
that is not working to their satisfaction or establish a new relationship where none existed before.
Because negotiation is such a common problem solving process, it is in everyone s interest to

We should be prepared. Also, we need to hold firm to our principles. Do not forget we have
something the supplier wants; they need us as much as we need them. When something is
important to us, stick to our guns. Suppliers will respect us for it. Moreover, we do not be
intimidated. We do not automatically accept the contract terms a supplier suggests/offers us.
Remember that it is their job to get the best possible outcome for their company. However, that is
our job too. Furthermore, acknowledging the strengths in the supplier s proposal or positive past
performances before identifying weaknesses can make them more receptive to considering our

No matter what strategy we choose, success lies in how well we prepared. The key to negotiating a
beneficial outcome is the negotiators ability to consider all the elements of the situation carefully
and to identify and think through the options. At the same time, negotiators must be able to keep
events in perspective and be as fair and honest as circumstance allows. Because a common ground

Skipping Meals On A Daily Basis
To begin with, since I came to Saint Leo University I have been skipping meals on a daily basis.
It s not because I want to but it s because my schedule is busy on a daily basis. However, when I

yogurt to eat on the go or even a sandwich I can snack on. But, with me skipping meals on a daily
basis is very unhealthy and I m making progress by making improvements with my eatinghabits.
Firstly, I began by creating a smart goal and used it motivation to help decrease the amount of
time I skip meals. I started eating breakfast in the dining hall or either in my dorm. I usually eat
breakfast at 7:30 am or it varies depending on my schedule. For breakfast, I usually eat cereal, oats,
or French toast and sometimes an English muffin. I stay away from the baconbecause pork bacon is
too oily and I like turkey bacon more. Sometimes, I would eat the original and strawberry low fat
yogurt mixed with granola crumbs. Other than breakfast, sometimes I would eat lunchwhen my
schedule is less hectic. Normally, Monday s and Friday s is the two days that I defiantly eat
lunch. This is because on Monday s I don t have work in the afternoon, so I m free from

development of new ideas for the company. As the Wall Street Journal reported, he more than
doubled sales to nearly $84 billion while CEO of P G, partially through smart acquisitions like

Norse Mythology Research Paper
What does every religion and culture around the world have in common? They all have some
form of divinity or gods. For the Scandinavian/ Germanic people or as they were sometimes called
the Vikings their particular brand of mythology is called Norse Mythology. Today almost everyone
has either seen or heard of the Thor movies. Although those are great movies they do not even touch
the surface of how deep and intricate Norse mythologytruly is. This entire culture of myth was
spread through words and stories of the Scandinavian Vikings to explain what and why things
happened in their world. This mythology spanned through many other cultures. Our days of the

The giants hail from Jotunheim, the fire giants from Muspelheim, the elves from Alfheim, dwarves
reside in Svartalfheim, the Midgard serpent resides in Midgard, and Hel herself resides in Helheim

depicted as a giant wolf. He was raised by the gods in order to keep him under control. The
Midgard serpent is depicted as a giant snake wrapped around the Earth with its tail in its mouth.
Hel is a giantess and goddess and rules over Helheim, the realm of the dead (Norse Mythology
for Smart People). These three bring about Ragnarok. Ragnarok itself is known as the Doom of
the Gods (McCoy). The end starts with the death of Baldr by Loki. After this the realms fall into
chaos. Fenrir and Loki break free of their chains and giants descend on Asgard. Thor faces a tragic
end going up against Jormungand, the Midgard serpent, each slaying the other. Fenrir goes on to
swallow and destroy everything in his path before Odin stepped in to stop him. Odin himself
though he fought valiantly was killed by Fenrir. Fenrir was then destroyed by a lesser known son

What Caused The Great Recession Of 2007 And 2009
Many factors directly lead and indirectly caused the great recession of 2007 and 2009. The
financial crisis happened because banks were able to create too much money to fast and used it to
increase house prices faster than wages. They increased the amount of money and debt in the
economy. Eventually, the debts became unpayable and the banks saw themselves in danger of
bankruptcy where people could not repay them and limited their spending. A downward spiral
begins and the economy heads into recession. Using the aggregate demand and aggregate supply
model you can see a decrease in aggregated demand, which causes a recession involving a decline
in price level. This caused less investment and consumer spending which then causes less demand

Blanche Dubois Symbolism
Realistically portraying controversial ideas of sexuality, violence, and mental instability, Tennessee
Williams A Streetcar Named Desire was awarded the Pulitzer Prize among others and is known as
one of the best dramas in American contemporary literature. This captivating play brings attention
to the theme that individuals are never willing to accept the truth which is clearly demonstrated by
the protagonist Blanche Dubois, and through multivarious literary elements the theme is illustrated
and better comprehended. First and foremost, the literary technique of motif can be used to depict
the message of this theme. The concept of light and darkness is brought up continuously throughout
the scenes as Blanche Dubois flees from the bright... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To begin, the main character s name itself is a symbol. The name comes from French origins and
her last name, Dubois, ...means woods and Blanche means white, so the two together mean white
woods (Williams 54 55). Her first name, Blanche translates to white or fair, and the color white
many times represents purity and innocence. Her name suggests that she is a virtuous person, but
throughout the play, it is obvious that she is quite the contrary; only her facade demonstrates these
traits, and her true nature does not reflect that at all. Continuing on, her last name translates to
wood which suggests solidity and sturdiness. Like her first name, Dubois is contradicting to her
fragile and volatile nature. Together, the name, white woods, indicates that although she appears
pure on the outer appearance, she is tough and cunning internally especially when it comes to her
image and fate. Blanche s full name further illustrates the mask she wears in front of others in
order to hide her true self. In addition to the name of Blanche Dubois, the name of Belle Reve is
also very symbolic. The name of the Dubois plantation in their hometown, Belle Reve translates to
beautiful dream from French which again highlights Blanche s obsession with illusions. In her
luggage, she carries her paperwork of the land where Belle Reve stands proven when Stanley asks,
Stanley: I don t want no ifs, ands or buts! What s all the rest of them papers? [She hands him the

Essay about King Lear vs. the Stone Angel
It has been said that, Rivers and mountains may change; human nature, never. (worldofquotes.com)
This is a quote that can be deconstructed when examining William Shakespeare s King Lear and
Margaret Laurence s The Stone Angel. When reviewing the two books the main characters, King
Lear and Hagar, are easily comparable. The first similarity becomes apparent when King Learand
Hagar are both developed as flawed characters. Secondly, because of their flaws the two characters
become blind to reality. Thirdly, after being deceived by themselves and others as a result of their
blindness, both characters seek refuge outside of their own homes. By leaving their homes the
characters are able to gain perspective on themselves and their pasts.... Show more content on

Faced with the reality that neither of his daughters truly love and support him as they had
claimed Lear says to Regan, No, Regan, thou shalt never have my curse. (II.iv.170) After
realizing her open lack of love for him Lear pleads to Regan and himself, Thou better knowest
/ The offices of nature, bond of childhood,/ Effects of courtesy, dues of gratitude./ Thy half of the
kingdom hast thou not forgot,/ Wherein I thee endowed. (II.iv.177 181) Because Lear
superficially asked his daughters to profess their love, he has now been deceived by their falsely
promoted emotions and is impervious to the fact that his daughters have used him to obtain
their own power and possessions. In the same way that Lear is blinded to the actions of his
daughters because of his flaws, Hagar is blind to her own actions because she is too prideful.

GolfLogix has just launched the xCaddie, a GPS based device that aids golfers in estimating the
distance to the next green. As things look up financially for the company with leases to golf

Company Product
GolfLogix Inc., a three year old company with just six employees, has introduced an innovative

Value Proposition
The value proposition for golf courses is:
Offer the GolfLogix system as a differentiating value added feature to your customers over your
competitors
Improve the pace of play on the course so more players can play within the same amount of time
Join the exclusive band of GolfLogix enabled courses
Product
GolfLogix will offer courses both the Distance Only and Complete System. This would make
these courses more attractive to a wide range of golfers from novices to pros. The Complete
System with kiosk and printer is however not feasible on an individual basis. The advantages of
owning a personal xCaddie include being able to play any course, even if the course doesnaВЂ?t

golfer plays an unmapped course where she cannot use her xCaddie, the overall value of the
xCaddie decreases. The cost of different customer service/value levels are shown in Exhibit 3. The
more value GolfLogix provides for the customer, the more we can charge for it. In the future, the
functionality of the xCaddie could be extended to being able to upload and download mappings and

The First Three Kings Of Israel
The nation of Israel was set apart as holy to the LORD. But they When the children of Israel
demanded a king, they did so to be like the other nations. The first three kings were Saul,
(outwardly tall, handsome and strong a seemingly good choice for a king, but inwardly arrogant,
proud and unrepentant not God s choice), David(a man after God s own heart who repented of his
sins and as such was God s choice), and Solomon (the wisest man who ever lived, but because of
covenant disobedience became the catalyst for the division and ultimate exile of Israel. Because
the judges were corrupt, and because everyone else had a king, Israel asked for one too. They
were rushing God s timing, by asking for a king like all the other nations have (1 Samuel 8:5
NLT). They wanted someone they could see to fight their battles for them. They, in a sense, rejected
God as their king. This attitude indicates that the people were looking at the other nations and at
those rulers outward characteristics. So, when the people demanded a king for the second time,
God gave them what they demanded.
Saul was tall, good looking and a warrior, however, as Hindson and Yates put it, The people
seemed to focus on Saul s outward appearance (9:2) rather than his heart (16:7) (Hindson and
Yates 2012, 164). Despite his early successes as king, Saul s arrogance and pride caused him to
start disobeying God. Samuel warned Saul repeatedly about his covenant disobedience. So when he

Mount Everest Climbers
Mount Everest is the biggest mountain in the world, and because of that attracts many climbers to
try and climb all 29,029 feet of it, but think about all the trash they leave behind while climbing. In
2013 4,000 people have reached Everest s summit, with many more attempting to. Mount Everest
has a natural beauty, one that should be preserved, and people climbing the mountain and leaving
their garbage on it is ruining it. Climbers have a negative impact on Mount Everest, and while
journeying to the top, they are slowly destroying the mountain. First of all, the short article The
World s Highest Mountain describes what Sir Edmund Hillaryand Tenzing Norgay experienced
and felt as they climbed Mount Everest and it shows the efforts that they made afterwards to
help preserve and keep the mountain safe from the dangers of climbers. For instance, the text
states that Hillary was also deeply concerned about the environment. He helped establish
reforestation programs in Nepal. He also demanded that mountain climbers clean up the garbage
that often got left behind on Mount Everest materials like used oxygen bottles, which climbers
would discard because of their weight (Source #1 7). This shows that Sir Edmund HIllary and
Tenzing Norgay understand how much trash climbers leave behind when climbing Mount
Everest because they went on that climb and probably left some garbage on the mountain.
Additionally, it allows the audience to see that climbing the mountain means leaving trash, and
since Hillary understands this from his own climb, he is demanding people pick up their
garbage. For example, paragraph 4 of The World s Highest Mountain it says that The goal Hillary
and Norgay set for themselves wasn t easy. The pair encountered difficult challenges on the way
to the summit, such as narrow ridges and 10,000 foot drops off the mountain. Hillary and Norgay s
experience on the mountain proves to us just how difficult it is to climb Mount Everest. Because it
is so difficult to climb Mount, you wouldn t want to have to carry your garbage up and back down
the mountain, it is easier to leave it on the mountain and that is what most people do. Therefore,
because of the difficulties climbers face when climbing the

European Union s Emission Trading Scheme
Despite the efficiency of the European Union s emission trading scheme (or EU ETS) with its
economic and environmental policy designed to reduce the greenhouse gas and carbon dioxide
emissions within the earth s atmosphere, further research have revealed the strengths and weakness
that EU ETS experience while determining how much greenhouse gas and carbon dioxidea country
can emit. One of the main strengths of EU ETS is its cost effectiveness. Limiting the amount of
greenhouse gases and carbon dioxide emitted requires a market based policy instrument such as a
trading market (European Commission, 2005) to ensure that the emitted gases are restricted in the
most economical way. Canadian economist John Dales (1968) suggests that a market of... Show

The success of its cost effectiveness resulted in a few mistakes that occurred during phase 1 that
caused a weak point in the scheme.
The EU ETS has been known exist with a typical weakness. On April 16th the European Parliament
voted to reject an attempt to bolster Europe s flagship environmental programme, the Emissions
Trading System (The economist, 2013), mainly because of the exceeded limit of emission.
Carbon has been known to harm the globe, and no wonder there is a price to it. During Phase 1
(2005 2007) of the EU ETS, there had been a massive overcapacity in the carbon market (The
economist, 2013). Companies were being allocated allowances based on previous emissions and
not being auctioned; while auction remains a more efficient way to allocate emission allowances
creating a carbon market. (Mak, 2011). The surplus was 1.5 billion 2 billion tones or about a year
s emissions (The economist, 2013). This shows how the newborn phase 1 were victims of the first
mistakes made by the EU ETS. Countries such as Germany, France and Poland were furthermore
assigned additional allowances thus not respecting the restrictions of the ETS (Mak, 2011), also,
not complying with the Harmonisation Law; which aims to create a consistency of laws and
regulations in the business so that one country does not obtain an economic advantage as a result of

My Passion For Journalism
When I was just a young, inexperienced Kindergartner I always thought differently than the
children around me. I always had a thirst to discover how things work; I felt it was necessary to
find out new things about government, science, cars, culture, religion, geopolitics and the world
around me. I was never afraid to ask questions to my wiser elders. Frankly, I would have done
anything to gain more information and knowledge, even if it meant an adult scoffing me because
the topics I desired to converse about were too advanced for my age.
As I got into middle school, I found my passion for journalism. I saw how closely my father would
follow the news, specifically issues in the Middle East, the land he had once lived in and
eventually fled due to conflict and poverty. My father s love for journalism inspired me to want
to follow the news as well. As a result, every Sunday I would bike to my friend s house and he
would hand me the Detroit Free Press after his father completed his morning reading. I was always
thrilled to open up the somewhat crumpled and out of order newspaper to see what was going on in
my community and around the globe. Once I became a freshman in high school, I was headstrong
that journalism would be my future career path. I knew it was an industry that was suffering
greatly and I knew journalists did not get paid well; but it did not diminish my eagerness to enter
the field, I was still persistent on accomplishing my goals and entering the world of

Discipline Child Abuse
There is no disciplinary handbook when it comes to how someone should parent their
child. There will be issues that arise throughout the child s life that will need different levels of
discipline. However, there is a right and a wrong way to handle these misbehaviors. Parents must
help their defiant children be successful (Petrakis 147). For many parents finding the proper way
to deal with their child s behavior can be stressful and result in anger. According to Jody Pawel, a
licensed social worker, discipline should have a focus on helping a child learn from their mistakes
(Pawel). Child abuseis defined as the physical maltreatment of a child ( Child Abuse ). In other
words child abuse is what we refer to when discipline has gotten out of control, or reached a toxic
level. The majority of parents may not see their verbal warnings, guilt trips, timeouts, loss of
privileges, name calling, spanking, belt hitting, first hitting, burning, sexual misconduct,
abandonment, or broken bones as a major issue. However, there is a point to when child discipline
becomes child abuse. There is a fine line not only between discipline and physical abuse, but also
discipline and emotional child abuse. When it comes to emotional abuse the line is drawn when
verbal warnings, cursing, or guilt trips result in a child feeling a sense of self doubt. When it
comes to discipline and physical abuse the line is drawn when any amount of physical pain is
inflicted on a child who is in an

The Effect Of Heat Transmission On The Heat
Introduction:
Heat transmission is the process through which heat is transferred in swap of thermal energy that
exists between the physical systems, depending on the pressure and temperature by dissipating heat.
The essential modes of transferring the heat are convection, conduction or diffusion and radiation.
Heat is transferred from region of high temperature to low temperature region.
1.0 Heat transfer
The various modes of heat transfer are as follows:
1.1 Conduction: Conduction mode of heat transfer is the process in which transfer of energy is taken
place between the objects that are having the physical existence. In this process heat is spreads
through a matter when faster molecules and atoms run over with the slower neighboring atoms and
molecules. Faster atoms and molecule can transfer their little energy known as kinetic energy to the
slower ones. Conduction is also known as diffusion.
1.2 Convection Convection is also a fundamental mode of transferring the heat. In this process heat
is transferred from one place to another through the movement of fluids. Fluids are those substance
which are not having any fixed shape. These substances include liquid and gas state of matter.
(edinformatics.com, 2015)
1.3 Radiation In the previous forms of heat transfer modes heat is transferred from one place to
another or from one substance to another. But in radiation electromagnetic waves are involved in
the transfer of heats. In this process no particular substance or

The First Thanksgiving On September 6, 1620, 102 men, women and children from England
boarded a small cargo boat called the Mayflower and set sail for the New World. The passengers
left their homes in England in search of religious freedom from the King of England. Today they

walked into the settlement. He raised his hand in friendship to the settlers. The Pilgrims
welcomed this stranger named Samoset. Samoset introduced the Pilgrims to his chief, Massasoit,

Research Study For An Efficient Study Design
A research study should not only start with an efficient study design to address the hypothesis of
the study but also the determination of the appropriate number of participants in the study. The
sample size is dependent on the study design, on statistical analysis used to answer the study
questions, and on the anticipated association between the outcome and the risk factor. The size a
sample should not be too large because it wastes money and time both to the investigators and
participants involved in the study. The small size sample may lead to inaccurate results and causes
to waste time and resources. In addition to the other reasons, participates in a large sample sizemay
be exposed to unnecessary risk. Therefore, the researchers should take careful attention while
determining the appropriate sample size for their studies to avoid the question of ethical practices.
The role of researchers is define the main objective of the study or the research question and the
study design before selecting a representative sample size. Then they consider the proportion of
participants, and the value of the numbers to put in the formula before determining the sample size.
Kamangar Islami (2013) states that the non statistical consideration in determining the sample size
are the availability of the fund, ethical issues, number of participants available, the novelty of the
study, and any similar studies being conducted etc. The investigators give the rationale why their

The Scarlett Letter By Nathaniel Hawthorne Essay
Middle class women in the early nineteenth century became known only for their passionless
sexuality and the ability to bear children (Myers Shirk). While married men had the option to
impregnate any woman they chose, women had the primary responsibility of raising the children
while remaining faithful. During this era, common practice dictated that only women would face
prosecution for infidelityor else face charges of a serious crime (Mawa). Society s frame of mind
during this time served to place men at the top of the gender hierarchy until, later in the century
(Myers Shirk). The notion that women received unjust treatment as compared to men also existed
in the literature of that era. The Scarlett Letter written by Nathaniel Hawthorne illustrates the
disparity of equality at the time. In this book, the author writes of a woman, Hester Prynne, who
committed adultery and bore a child out of wedlock. Hester s punishment handed down by the
church resulted in incarceration followed by parading her through the town in an effort to shame
her for her misdeeds (Hawthorne).
During this time period, women in New York formed a Female Moral Reform Society Program.
This program s primary goal encouraged women to end men s immoral view of them in general.
Specifically, the program appealed to society to view women as more than just a vessel for
reproduction. Moreover, there existed an inherent desire to educate future generations with regard
to the respect that women

Nonviolent Communication Essay
As a volunteer at the Palmer Munroe Teen Center I received the opportunity to return to the
community, in which I spent most of my childhood, and work with the at risk teens in the
Nonviolent Communication (NVC) Program. I volunteered twice a week for 12 weeks, helping to
teach teens new methods of handling conflict, recognizing, and understanding their own emotions.
By pairing one on one with a different teen each class, each teen had the chance to verbally release
their frustrations. After doing this, the teen and I would then search for a word that best described
the feeling that they were experiencing, and then deduce better ways they could have responded to
the situation. This experience is meaningful, firstly because I not only was a

Escaping Social Rules in The Importance of Being Earnest...
The main characters do use their double lives to escape social regulation, although in differing
ways and on each character different social pressures are acting. The women live alternative
mental lives through fantastical journals whereas the men, due to their comparatively greater
social freedom, are able to create alternative physical lives. Jack pursues a double life due to the
pressures of rural, family responsibility. Algy does the same due to the authoritarian influences of
his relatives and his financial troubles. The Importance of Being Earnest was written in the
tradition of the well made play , fast paced and almost farcical plays peopled by stock characters, as
described by Peter Raby; two pairs of young romantic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even when the two men are in apparent danger of losing their loved ones Algy calmly and
absurdly states that he `can t eat muffins in an agitated manner. The butter would probably get on
my cuffs . His being `serious about Bunburying could be attributed to his inability to confront the
pressures of responsibility. Another suffocating expectation of Victorian society to be escaped
was that of family duty. Algy s opinion of his relatives is made abundantly clear; they are
`simply a tedious pack of people who haven t got the remotest knowledge of how to live, nor the
smallest instinct about when to die. This cynical view implies Algy is waiting for his relatives
to die for the inheritance he expects and this does not communicate a presence of family feeling
in his character. This lack of family piety is added to by the authoritarian nature of his closest
relative in the play. Algy has been invited to `dine with Aunt Augusta twice in one week and he is
able to predict `perfectly well whom she will place me next to which shows how often he is under

The Hunger Artist
Sacrifice is the act of giving up something of value to gain something that is considered to be
more important than what was given up; hunger is a form of sacrifice. The Hunger Artist by Franz
Kafka, is an interesting short story that describes a man s dark and depressing life. In this man s
life he is a hungerartist who starves himself to make small amounts of money and to gain attention
from his audiences. The hunger artist was a man who was separated from society by his fasting
and suffered from the harmful effects of his pride and confusion. The Hunger Artist is a short story
that tells about a man who starves himself for a living. The man in this story has no home and lives
a nomadic life. He tours around Europe with his manager... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The three main symbols in The Hunger Artist are the cage, clock, and the panther. The cage
represents how the hunger artist is separated from the rest of society. The man separated himself
from society from a physical sense by locking himself in a cage and not coming out. However,
he also separated himself from a mental standpoint by making his life revolve around his
audiences and putting their wants and needs above his own. This symbolism represents the cage
and how separation from society led to the hunger artist s downfall. The next symbol described
in the story is the clock. The clock was the only piece of furniture in the man s cage besides the
hay. The all important striking of the clock that was the only piece of furniture in his cage (333).
The clock represents that as time goes on the hunger artist s relationship with his audience
continues to fail which starts the domino effect that carries over to the man s mental health.
Ultimately the clock shows that the hunger artist s life is slowly ticking away and that he is
slowly killing his body and his mind. The last major symbolism used in the story is the panther.
The panther replaces the hunger artist in his cage after he passes away. The panther is the
complete opposite of the hunger artist. Furnished almost to the bursting point with all that it
needed, seemed to carry freedom around with it too (342). The panther was full of life and energy
and on top of that was well nourished. The panther is very well liked in the circus unlike the hunger
artist was. Another trait the panther possessed that the hunger artist did not was that the panther did
not require attention to be happy. If the hunger artist would have simply lived with this mindset his
life would have been so much more brighter and positive. The strong use of symbolism in this story
helps explain to the

Managing the Springville Herald Essay
13.1
Positives aside, our team has to look at the negatives while making forecasts using the past three
months of subscription data. Forecasts for the prior year were inaccurate because spending used for
telemarketing was not always consistent. To make accurate forecasts our team has to take these
variables that were not always consistent into consideration. All factors have to be taken into
account before future forecasts can be made. Making future projections using three months of data
may not be sufficient. While running the paper, three months is not a very substantial amount of
time in the long run. The Springville Herald should be gathering more data for a longer period of
time than three months. There are too many ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Е¶=b0 + b1 Xi
Е¶ = 413.82 + 4.408 Xi
*Please see the following graphs
13.3 b. If you expect to spend 1,200 hours on telemarketing per month the estimated mean number
of new subscriptions would be the following.
Е¶ = 413.82 + (4.408)(1200)
Е¶ = 4876
This prediction would be based on the assumptions followed by the acronym LINE. Linearity,
Independence of errors, Normality of error, and Equal variance. The first assumption of linearity is
indeed linear. As the number of hours of telemarketing increases the number of new subscription
also increases as seen in the graph attached. By plotting the residuals in order of sequence in which
the data was collected this would complete the check of independence of errors. As seen in the
residual chart attached there are no relationships between consecutive results. Normality is
evaluated by tallying the residuals into a frequency distribution. The residual data in the frequency
distribution attached shows that they follow a normal distribution. The final assumption of Equal
variance shows that there are no major differences in the variability of the residuals. Therefore, by
passing all four tests of

Conductive Polymers Are A Specific Section Under The Broad...
Conductive polymers are a specific section under the broad range of polymers, that have the
ability to effectively conduct electricity. They were discovered by accident in a lab by Hideki
Shirakawa in 1974, yet their potential applications were not understood until early 2000s. They are
made by doping with n type and p type which forces electrons to move throughout the material
which normally would not happen because of a polymer molecular structure. They provide many
advantages over metals because of they are light weight, cheap, and functional versatile. Conductive
polymersare frequently used with rechargeable batteries, sensors, and light displays. Lastly, they
have a bright future with the world turning towards wanting more technology that is light weight
and integrated in the day to day functions.
A typical polymer is a very ductile, cheap, and light material that cannot handle high temperatures or
electrical conductivity. Polymers are generally used for plastic bags and bottles, crates, toys, and
insulation on electrical cables. Electrical conductivity is usually found only in metals because of
its small to nonsexist band gap between the filled and empty bands. Electrons are able to move
freely between the bands which is the current allowing everything to work. Polymers have a large
enough band gap that makes it very difficult for electrons to go between the bands. Large amounts
of energy would be needed to force electrons across this gap. However, with the addition

What Role Does Personification Play In The Dream Of The Rood
The Dream of the Rood is has many literary techniques that are used throughout the piece. Jesus is
an illusion to Beowulf, a mythical conqueror during the early middle ages, in a way that he is
described as a warrior who is eager, and intending to redeem mankind. Elaine Treharne de
emphasized the beatings that Jesuswent through during the time of the crucifixion in order to focus
of him overcoming sin and entering into a victorious state. Personification plays a major role in
this poem through the cross; the cross had to undergo all of the pain and suffering that Jesus Christ
went through in history in order to maintain the warrior persona of Jesus. The timeline that the
Dream of the Rood lays out also plays an important role in the overall

Similarities Between Greek Mythology And The Holy Bible
Greek mythology and The Holy Bible are writings from the ancient civilizations. The proximity
regarding some narratives between the two publications brings about a great deal of curiosity to
inquiring minds. How and why do both texts reveal interchangeable associations and can this
phenomenon be explained?
In ancient Greece, Greek mythology began to emerge. Mythological narratives began to erupt for
the purpose of giving an explanation to certain social, religious, and environmental phenomena.
Greek stories included gods, goddesses, heroes and non human creatures.
Unlike Mythology, The Bibles narratives are actual events that took place dating back to the
beginning of time. The beginning of The Holy Bible s compilation started thousands of years
ago in the land of Egypt. The Old Testament Scriptures were written in Hebrew and were later
translated into the Greek, however, The New Testament writings were first constructed in the
Greek language. Over forty men transcribed what was told to him by God and as a result, sixty
six books make up the entire Holy Bible. The Holy Scriptures explained the creations, formation
of the world, who God is, who God s chosen peoples are, sin, and the plan of salvation as well.
Homer s The Odyssey, is an epic poem of mythology which includes twenty four books. The ancient
text centers its topics of discussion around the Trojan War, a hero named Odysseus and the
challenges he faced throughout the text. The abduction of Queen Helen by the

ABSTRACT
Information technology (IT) has become an indispensable part of contemporary world while human
resource management globally is equally being affected in a number of ways through its adoption
and application.
Developments in information and communication technology create the spread of education and
economic opportunities. E learning is one of them. For companies in the banking sector, web
based training is a new opportunity to create a harmonious labor force with new technology and to
increase the efficiency of business productivity. E learning with practice of these new
technologies, offers bank employees individual learning, regardless of time and space. Nowadays,
because e learning provides opportunities for learning without interfering with the flow of work for
the staff working at the appropriate time and space, an economic advantage is provided to both the
bank as company and its employees. Therefore, spending on education decreases. However, the
level of benefit that bank staff gains from educational opportunities changes on the basis of certain
demographic characteristics. This situation is an important variable with regard to the effect

Free Exercise Clause
The first amendment consists of two provisions: the establishment clause and the free exercise
clause. The establishment clause was set forth to prevent government from establishing a
religion. For example, if a government were to publically fund a church this would be
considered an attempt of the government to establish a religion. The free exercise clause was
enacted to endow every individual the right to practice their religion freely so long as it does not
interfere with public morals . Thus, the establishment clause is directed more towards the
government s actions whereas the free exercise clause is directed at citizens and limits the free
aspect of an individual s right to practice their religion if needed be. In 1962, Engel v. Vitale was
an important Supreme Court Case in the United States that required a firm wall of separation
between church and state. A group of families in New Hyde park, New York did not appreciate the
implementation of a state prayer in their children s schools. They families challenged the court
about the constitutionality of this practice. The courts were in favor of the families as Justice Hugo

  • 2. Abnormal Psychology Vs Psychopathology Essay 1) Compare and contrast the concepts of abnormal psychology and psychopathology and the implicit assumptions of both terms. Considering abnormal psychology is an alternative definition of psychopathology, it is assumed they are different in the eyes of society. Psychopathology is a term focused on the psyche (mind, soul) and a disorder (dysfunction, diseased, unhealthy and illness). It is also based from deviations from statistical and social norms along with maladaptive behavior, distress and impairment. Although abnormal psychologyand psychopathology are defined the same, abnormal psychologyis often viewed from a perspective that individuals who are suffering from mental health issues as likely to be considered abnormal either in the statistical or the functional sense. By being identified as abnormal , it portrays that a person struggling with psychopathology are not normal , which cultivates stigmatization (illness/dangerousness) among society. Acknowledging that many people could be considered abnormal in a statistical sense, it does not make that person pathological. A few great examples of an abnormal deviation would be a group of women having a 13 shoe size, or a group of men measuring at 4 ft. Even though these individuals fell outside the statistical norm range, they are considered abnormal; which does not identify them to be pathological, just different. Another good example would be a group of individuals scoring high in an IQ assessment. Although ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

With the emergences of major crime bosses like Al Capone, Meyer Lansky, Charles Luciano, and others there was much to be done in the crime world. Charles Lucky Luciano (born as Salvatore Lucania) would become a key player in the reshaping and modernization of the mafia and the crime world. Young Luciano would show signs of pursuing a criminal career. His parents and family however disapproved of their son s action and career path and essentially exiled him, respecting his family s wishes he would later change his name from Salvatore Lucania to Charles Luciano. He also by the age of 10 he involved extortion, and thievery. Upon his arrest for the distribution of drugs in 1915, the police would offered to release him if he would tell them what he knew about the mob, Luciano however refused to talk due to the Sicilian code of silence, this action would vastly considered pivotal in fast tracking his career in ... • 4. Personal Statement On Life s Hustle And Bustle In life s hustle and bustle sometimes it s easy to get lost in the whole process leaving you wondering is your life leading you instead of you leading it. I needed to find some personal fulfillment in my life. So I had to do a self check to discover what my true purpose was in this life. How impactful was I in changing the world. I was completely satisfied raising my son and being engaged in everything he was involved in. However, the closer it came for him to graduate from high school the more I began to think about what my new life would be like. I had to deal with the persisting question of what did I want to do with the rest of my life. Overall, I felt like I was a pretty decent mother, an awesome friend, a loving sister and I have a faith based foundation. Even with all those great attributes I still didn t know what my true purpose was here on earth. When I think of the questions easily, the first thing I thought of was philanthropy. Living a healthy lifestyle would be next. I m very excited about getting the chance to expound on my future in leadership and mentoring rolls. Next, I want to explore what full potential and purpose is and how can I be a positive impact on the world. At this stage of my life I feel that it says Yes to: being a philanthropist, having a health and wellness for my body and soul as well as being involved in leadership and mentoring. Calculating different performance indicators from the statements requires knowing each sector/segment in them. Finally, the numbers by itself do not say anything specific or definitive about a company because numbers need to be compared to the historical figures of the same company, competitors and an industry. Ratios and their analysis are helpful in revealing at least part of a story, but as with the statements numbers ratios by itself are not useful until they compared to the historical ratios of a company and to other companies within the industry. There are four categories of ratios: Profitability... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... First, any ratio must be computed correctly. It means, that we should now how a ratio was computed before making any conclusions. As with the numbers in the financial statements any ratio can be calculated to look more favorable. Second, any ratio by itself is meaningless unless we know a company s industry. In addition, we should know what strategy a company is pursuing. Otherwise, looking at low leverage and liquidity ratios while a company is aggressively expanding and using every possible way to finance that, may lead us to the wrong assumptions. Third, comparing current ratios with the past ones should include any conditions that directly affect a company s performance from the inside and outside. For example, economic conditions (recession); maybe an industry has changed; or maybe a company was sold, merged, went through bankruptcy or CEO stepped down; maybe a company from a hardware manufacturer became a service company like Xerox or IBM; even things like currency exchange rates do affect a company s performance. Fourth, benchmarking a company to other companies requires a careful selection of competitors. The Importance of Elections as a Linkage Institution and... 14 October 2012 American Politics Midterm Exam Question 3 The Importance of Elections as a Linkage Institution and Voting Linkage institutions can be defined as institutions that connect citizens with the government. Examples of linkage institutions include elections, political parties, interest groups, and the media. Elections specifically are supposed to encourage public participation in the selection of governmental officials. Unfortunately, low voter turnout has proved that elections are an imperfect linkage institution. Even after the passing of the Fifteenth Amendment, African Americans were disenfranchised in the South by intimidation and electoral trickery, including whites only primaries, rigged literacy tests, and poll taxes (Patterson 2011, p. 180). The Freedom Riders rode through the South, enduring harassment and imprisonment to encourage other African Americans to vote. Voter turnout in African American communities is greatly encouraged. Personally, coming from an African American family, I was strongly encouraged by my parents and grandparents to vote when I was of legal age. My family instilled the importance of voting in me at a very young age. Although voter turnout among African Americans is still fairly low, in the 2008 presidential election African Americans had the second highest voter turnout, behind non Hispanic Caucasians (African Americans, n.d.). Race can influence voter turnout because with African Americans specifically, although rates are getting better, they are still not high. One factor that decreases voter turnout is the misconception that a person s vote does not matter. Alienation is a feeling of personal powerlessness that includes the feeling that the government does not care about individual people. These people believe that the government will not respond to their concerns even if they do vote. The problem is that a large portion of the population shares this attitude. In case of personal income tax, the major reforms involved the inclusion of entertainment allowances in the personal income tax base, deduction of investment in approved assets from the tax base, and an introduction of a withholding tax on dividend with limitation of special expenditure within a reasonable limit. Steps were taken to reduce interest rates on government savings instruments and subsidies for food and jute. Another achievement that led to a change in Catholics was Teresa s writings and books. Her books were about her travels, reformation and establishment of convents and were guidance for the other nuns/Catholics. After 25 years, in the Carmelite convent, Teresa established a small convent in Avila called St Joseph s and this was the beginning of Teresa establishing many other convents allowing other females to also become nuns. The pace of modern life, and all its excessive stimulation, takes a toll on our bodies and minds. When we can t escape from it, many of us resort to harmful addictions or medications to help us through. In the last couple of decades, though, certain natural (plant derived) substances have begun to garner reputations for helping to give people an overall feeling of well being. St John s Wort is one notable example of an herb used to treat depression. Another, which is more commonly associated with combating anxietyand easing stress, is Kava. Kava is a relatively recent arrival on the shelves of health stores. Requiring a warm and moist climate, the plant had previously been known only around the South Pacific islands particularly, New Guinea, New Zealand, and Hawaii. There it was renowned for promoting, in those who imbibed it, feelings of relaxation and contentment and, in large doses, of intoxication. Many old native practices for the preparation of Kava involved chewing bits of the root (where its active ingredients, known as kavalactones, chiefly reside) and spitting them out into a great bowl. Once enough was accumulated, this pretty unappetizing mead was mixed with water or coconut milk until desired strength was achieved. It s not because I want to but it s because my schedule is busy on a daily basis. However, when I do get the chance to eat lunch I take advantage of it. Then when I m really busy I usually grab a yogurt to eat on the go or even a sandwich I can snack on. But, with me skipping meals on a daily basis is very unhealthy and I m making progress by making improvements with my eatinghabits. Firstly, I began by creating a smart goal and used it motivation to help decrease the amount of time I skip meals. I started eating breakfast in the dining hall or either in my dorm. I usually eat breakfast at 7:30 am or it varies depending on my schedule. For breakfast, I usually eat cereal, oats, or French toast and sometimes an English muffin. I stay away from the baconbecause pork bacon is too oily and I like turkey bacon more. Sometimes, I would eat the original and strawberry low fat yogurt mixed with granola crumbs. Other than breakfast, sometimes I would eat lunchwhen my schedule is less hectic. Normally, Monday s and Friday s is the two days that I defiantly eat lunch. This is because on Monday s I don t have work in the afternoon, so I m free from 12:20pm and on Friday s I leave campus to go home. Her first name, Blanche translates to white or fair, and the color white many times represents purity and innocence. Her name suggests that she is a virtuous person, but throughout the play, it is obvious that she is quite the contrary; only her facade demonstrates these traits, and her true nature does not reflect that at all. Continuing on, her last name translates to wood which suggests solidity and sturdiness. Like her first name, Dubois is contradicting to her fragile and volatile nature. Together, the name, white woods, indicates that although she appears pure on the outer appearance, she is tough and cunning internally especially when it comes to her image and fate. Blanche s full name further illustrates the mask she wears in front of others in order to hide her true self. In addition to the name of Blanche Dubois, the name of Belle Reve is also very symbolic. The first three kings were Saul, (outwardly tall, handsome and strong a seemingly good choice for a king, but inwardly arrogant, proud and unrepentant not God s choice), David(a man after God s own heart who repented of his sins and as such was God s choice), and Solomon (the wisest man who ever lived, but because of covenant disobedience became the catalyst for the division and ultimate exile of Israel. Because the judges were corrupt, and because everyone else had a king, Israel asked for one too. They were rushing God s timing, by asking for a king like all the other nations have (1 Samuel 8:5 NLT). They wanted someone they could see to fight their battles for them. They, in a sense, rejected God as their king. This attitude indicates that the people were looking at the other nations and at those rulers outward characteristics. So, when the people demanded a king for the second time, God gave them what they demanded. Saul was tall, good looking and a warrior, however, as Hindson and Yates put it, The people seemed to focus on Saul s outward appearance (9:2) rather than his heart (16:7) (Hindson and Yates 2012, 164). Mount Everest Climbers Mount Everest is the biggest mountain in the world, and because of that attracts many climbers to try and climb all 29,029 feet of it, but think about all the trash they leave behind while climbing. In 2013 4,000 people have reached Everest s summit, with many more attempting to. Mount Everest has a natural beauty, one that should be preserved, and people climbing the mountain and leaving their garbage on it is ruining it. Climbers have a negative impact on Mount Everest, and while journeying to the top, they are slowly destroying the mountain. First of all, the short article The World s Highest Mountain describes what Sir Edmund Hillaryand Tenzing Norgay experienced and felt as they climbed Mount Everest and it shows the efforts that they made afterwards to help preserve and keep the mountain safe from the dangers of climbers. For instance, the text states that Hillary was also deeply concerned about the environment. He helped establish reforestation programs in Nepal. He also demanded that mountain climbers clean up the garbage that often got left behind on Mount Everest materials like used oxygen bottles, which climbers would discard because of their weight (Source #1 7). This shows that Sir Edmund HIllary and Tenzing Norgay understand how much trash climbers leave behind when climbing Mount Everest because they went on that climb and probably left some garbage on the mountain. Additionally, it allows the audience to see that climbing the mountain means leaving trash, and since Hillary understands this from his own climb, he is demanding people pick up their garbage. For example, paragraph 4 of The World s Highest Mountain it says that The goal Hillary and Norgay set for themselves wasn t easy. The pair encountered difficult challenges on the way to the summit, such as narrow ridges and 10,000 foot drops off the mountain. Hillary and Norgay s experience on the mountain proves to us just how difficult it is to climb Mount Everest. Because it is so difficult to climb Mount, you wouldn t want to have to carry your garbage up and back down the mountain, it is easier to leave it on the mountain and that is what most people do. On April 16th the European Parliament voted to reject an attempt to bolster Europe s flagship environmental programme, the Emissions Trading System (The economist, 2013), mainly because of the exceeded limit of emission. Carbon has been known to harm the globe, and no wonder there is a price to it. During Phase 1 (2005 2007) of the EU ETS, there had been a massive overcapacity in the carbon market (The economist, 2013). However, there is a right and a wrong way to handle these misbehaviors. Parents must help their defiant children be successful (Petrakis 147). For many parents finding the proper way to deal with their child s behavior can be stressful and result in anger. According to Jody Pawel, a licensed social worker, discipline should have a focus on helping a child learn from their mistakes (Pawel). Child abuseis defined as the physical maltreatment of a child ( Child Abuse ). In other words child abuse is what we refer to when discipline has gotten out of control, or reached a toxic level. The majority of parents may not see their verbal warnings, guilt trips, timeouts, loss of privileges, name calling, spanking, belt hitting, first hitting, burning, sexual misconduct, abandonment, or broken bones as a major issue. However, there is a point to when child discipline becomes child abuse. There is a fine line not only between discipline and physical abuse, but also discipline and emotional child abuse. The Effect Of Heat Transmission On The Heat Introduction: Heat transmission is the process through which heat is transferred in swap of thermal energy that exists between the physical systems, depending on the pressure and temperature by dissipating heat. The essential modes of transferring the heat are convection, conduction or diffusion and radiation. Heat is transferred from region of high temperature to low temperature region. 1.0 Heat transfer The various modes of heat transfer are as follows: 1.1 Conduction: Conduction mode of heat transfer is the process in which transfer of energy is taken place between the objects that are having the physical existence. In this process heat is spreads through a matter when faster molecules and atoms run over with the slower neighboring atoms and molecules. Faster atoms and molecule can transfer their little energy known as kinetic energy to the slower ones. Conduction is also known as diffusion. 1.2 Convection Convection is also a fundamental mode of transferring the heat. In the freezing December waters, they anchored the Mayflower and sent a landing party to what is now Plymouth Harbor beach. To secure the small landing boat against the rain and winds, they tied it to a large rock Plymouth Rock and so begins the legend of the original Thanksgiving tale.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When April arrived, the crew of the Mayflower raised its sails and set off for England, offering to take any Pilgrim who wished to return to England. Faced with the choice of the harsh New World, or the religious intolerance of the King, they all stayed. One day, a lone Indian man walked into the settlement. He raised his hand in friendship to the settlers. The Pilgrims welcomed this stranger named Samoset. Samoset introduced the Pilgrims to his chief, Massasoit, and his interpreter, Squanto. Squanto spoke English because he had been captured as a boy by traders who had come to the New World in search of slaves. Squanto was taken to England and lived there many years before returning to the New World. He alone understood that the Pilgrims did not know how to hunt or fish that they would die without help in the New World. Squanto and Chief Massasoit extended their friendship to the Pilgrims. They showed them how to catch fish with nets and how to grow corn, pumpkins, potatoes and squash foods from the New World. The Indians showed the Pilgrims where to hunt turkey and deer, and where to gather nuts and berries. They explained to the Pilgrims that the land was master of those who walked and lived there. The harvest of 1621 saw the fulfillment of their labors. The Pilgrims had grown barley, corn, pumpkins, and beans. The settlers labored to gather their bounty; and in thanks for ... • 38. Research Study For An Efficient Study Design A research study should not only start with an efficient study design to address the hypothesis of the study but also the determination of the appropriate number of participants in the study. The sample size is dependent on the study design, on statistical analysis used to answer the study questions, and on the anticipated association between the outcome and the risk factor. The size a sample should not be too large because it wastes money and time both to the investigators and participants involved in the study. The small size sample may lead to inaccurate results and causes to waste time and resources. In addition to the other reasons, participates in a large sample sizemay be exposed to unnecessary risk. Therefore, the researchers should take careful attention while determining the appropriate sample size for their studies to avoid the question of ethical practices. The role of researchers is define the main objective of the study or the research question and the study design before selecting a representative sample size. Then they consider the proportion of participants, and the value of the numbers to put in the formula before determining the sample size. Kamangar Islami (2013) states that the non statistical consideration in determining the sample size are the availability of the fund, ethical issues, number of participants available, the novelty of the study, and any similar studies being conducted etc. The investigators give the rationale why their study is ... • 40. The Scarlett Letter By Nathaniel Hawthorne Essay Middle class women in the early nineteenth century became known only for their passionless sexuality and the ability to bear children (Myers Shirk). While married men had the option to impregnate any woman they chose, women had the primary responsibility of raising the children while remaining faithful. During this era, common practice dictated that only women would face prosecution for infidelityor else face charges of a serious crime (Mawa). Society s frame of mind during this time served to place men at the top of the gender hierarchy until, later in the century (Myers Shirk). The notion that women received unjust treatment as compared to men also existed in the literature of that era. The Scarlett Letter written by Nathaniel Hawthorne illustrates the disparity of equality at the time. In this book, the author writes of a woman, Hester Prynne, who committed adultery and bore a child out of wedlock. Hester s punishment handed down by the church resulted in incarceration followed by parading her through the town in an effort to shame her for her misdeeds (Hawthorne). During this time period, women in New York formed a Female Moral Reform Society Program. This program s primary goal encouraged women to end men s immoral view of them in general. Specifically, the program appealed to society to view women as more than just a vessel for reproduction. Moreover, there existed an inherent desire to educate future generations with regard to the respect that women ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Nonviolent Communication Essay As a volunteer at the Palmer Munroe Teen Center I received the opportunity to return to the community, in which I spent most of my childhood, and work with the at risk teens in the Nonviolent Communication (NVC) Program. I volunteered twice a week for 12 weeks, helping to teach teens new methods of handling conflict, recognizing, and understanding their own emotions. By pairing one on one with a different teen each class, each teen had the chance to verbally release their frustrations. After doing this, the teen and I would then search for a word that best described the feeling that they were experiencing, and then deduce better ways they could have responded to the situation. This experience is meaningful, firstly because I not only was a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The main characters do use their double lives to escape social regulation, although in differing ways and on each character different social pressures are acting. The women live alternative mental lives through fantastical journals whereas the men, due to their comparatively greater social freedom, are able to create alternative physical lives. Jack pursues a double life due to the pressures of rural, family responsibility. Algy does the same due to the authoritarian influences of his relatives and his financial troubles. The Importance of Being Earnest was written in the tradition of the well made play , fast paced and almost farcical plays peopled by stock characters, as described by Peter Raby; two pairs of young romantic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even when the two men are in apparent danger of losing their loved ones Algy calmly and absurdly states that he `can t eat muffins in an agitated manner. The butter would probably get on my cuffs . His being `serious about Bunburying could be attributed to his inability to confront the pressures of responsibility. Another suffocating expectation of Victorian society to be escaped was that of family duty. Algy s opinion of his relatives is made abundantly clear; they are `simply a tedious pack of people who haven t got the remotest knowledge of how to live, nor the smallest instinct about when to die. This cynical view implies Algy is waiting for his relatives to die for the inheritance he expects and this does not communicate a presence of family feeling in his character. This lack of family piety is added to by the authoritarian nature of his closest relative in the play. Algy has been invited to `dine with Aunt Augusta twice in one week and he is able to predict `perfectly well whom she will place me next to which shows how often he is under Lady Bracknell s influence. The Hunger Artist by Franz Kafka, is an interesting short story that describes a man s dark and depressing life. In this man s life he is a hungerartist who starves himself to make small amounts of money and to gain attention from his audiences. The hunger artist was a man who was separated from society by his fasting and suffered from the harmful effects of his pride and confusion. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The three main symbols in The Hunger Artist are the cage, clock, and the panther. The cage represents how the hunger artist is separated from the rest of society. The man separated himself from society from a physical sense by locking himself in a cage and not coming out. However, he also separated himself from a mental standpoint by making his life revolve around his audiences and putting their wants and needs above his own. This symbolism represents the cage and how separation from society led to the hunger artist s downfall. The next symbol described in the story is the clock. The clock was the only piece of furniture in the man s cage besides the hay. The all important striking of the clock that was the only piece of furniture in his cage (333). The clock represents that as time goes on the hunger artist s relationship with his audience continues to fail which starts the domino effect that carries over to the man s mental health. Ultimately the clock shows that the hunger artist s life is slowly ticking away and that he is slowly killing his body and his mind. The last major symbolism used in the story is the panther. The panther replaces the hunger artist in his cage after he passes away. The panther is the complete opposite of the hunger artist. Furnished almost to the bursting point with all that it needed, seemed to carry freedom around with it too (342). The panther was full of life and energy and on top of that was well nourished. The panther is very well liked in the circus unlike the hunger artist was. Another trait the panther possessed that the hunger artist did not was that the panther did not require attention to be happy. If the hunger artist would have simply lived with this mindset his life would have been so much more brighter and positive. The strong use of symbolism in this story helps explain to the ... Forecasts for the prior year were inaccurate because spending used for telemarketing was not always consistent. To make accurate forecasts our team has to take these variables that were not always consistent into consideration. All factors have to be taken into account before future forecasts can be made. Making future projections using three months of data may not be sufficient. While running the paper, three months is not a very substantial amount of time in the long run. Е¶ = 413.82 + (4.408)(1200) Е¶ = 4876 This prediction would be based on the assumptions followed by the acronym LINE. Linearity, Independence of errors, Normality of error, and Equal variance. The first assumption of linearity is indeed linear. As the number of hours of telemarketing increases the number of new subscription also increases as seen in the graph attached. By plotting the residuals in order of sequence in which the data was collected this would complete the check of independence of errors. As seen in the residual chart attached there are no relationships between consecutive results. Normality is evaluated by tallying the residuals into a frequency distribution. The residual data in the frequency distribution attached shows that they follow a normal distribution. The final assumption of Equal variance shows that there are no major differences in the variability of the residuals. Therefore, by passing all four tests of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. Conductive Polymers Are A Specific Section Under The Broad... Conductive polymers are a specific section under the broad range of polymers, that have the ability to effectively conduct electricity. They were discovered by accident in a lab by Hideki Shirakawa in 1974, yet their potential applications were not understood until early 2000s. They are made by doping with n type and p type which forces electrons to move throughout the material which normally would not happen because of a polymer molecular structure. They provide many advantages over metals because of they are light weight, cheap, and functional versatile. Conductive polymersare frequently used with rechargeable batteries, sensors, and light displays. Lastly, they have a bright future with the world turning towards wanting more technology that is light weight and integrated in the day to day functions. A typical polymer is a very ductile, cheap, and light material that cannot handle high temperatures or electrical conductivity. Polymers are generally used for plastic bags and bottles, crates, toys, and insulation on electrical cables. Electrical conductivity is usually found only in metals because of its small to nonsexist band gap between the filled and empty bands. Electrons are able to move freely between the bands which is the current allowing everything to work. Polymers have a large enough band gap that makes it very difficult for electrons to go between the bands. Large amounts of energy would be needed to force electrons across this gap. However, with the addition ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 47. Similarities Between Greek Mythology And The Holy Bible Greek mythology and The Holy Bible are writings from the ancient civilizations. The proximity regarding some narratives between the two publications brings about a great deal of curiosity to inquiring minds. How and why do both texts reveal interchangeable associations and can this phenomenon be explained? In ancient Greece, Greek mythology began to emerge. Mythological narratives began to erupt for the purpose of giving an explanation to certain social, religious, and environmental phenomena. Greek stories included gods, goddesses, heroes and non human creatures. Unlike Mythology, The Bibles narratives are actual events that took place dating back to the beginning of time. The beginning of The Holy Bible s compilation started thousands of years ago in the land of Egypt. The Old Testament Scriptures were written in Hebrew and were later translated into the Greek, however, The New Testament writings were first constructed in the Greek language. Over forty men transcribed what was told to him by God and as a result, sixty six books make up the entire Holy Bible. The Holy Scriptures explained the creations, formation of the world, who God is, who God s chosen peoples are, sin, and the plan of salvation as well. Homer s The Odyssey, is an epic poem of mythology which includes twenty four books. • 50. Free Exercise Clause The first amendment consists of two provisions: the establishment clause and the free exercise clause. The establishment clause was set forth to prevent government from establishing a religion. For example, if a government were to publically fund a church this would be considered an attempt of the government to establish a religion. The free exercise clause was enacted to endow every individual the right to practice their religion freely so long as it does not interfere with public morals . Thus, the establishment clause is directed more towards the government s actions whereas the free exercise clause is directed at citizens and limits the free aspect of an individual s right to practice their religion if needed be. In 1962, Engel v. Vitale was an important Supreme Court Case in the United States that required a firm wall of separation between church and state.
