Communication style refers to the choices people make when communicating and involves two dimensions: assertiveness and emotiveness. There are four main communication styles according to a matrix: direct, spirited, systematic, and considerate.
Direct communicators are highly assertive but not emotive - they tell others what to do instead of asking for opinions. Spirited communicators are both highly assertive and emotive - they are enthusiastic about ideas but weak on details. Systematic communicators are low in both assertiveness and emotiveness - they prefer facts over opinions and are uncomfortable with emotions. Considerate communicators are emotive but not assertive - they are concerned with others' feelings and including everyone.
