Naacp Failure
Imagine never being allowed to go to school, eat at a restaurant or even use the bathroom. This was
what countless African Americans were prevented to do on a daily basis. For many years, this type of
racism was common in the United States. The National Association for the Advancement of Colored
People, or NAACP aimed to rid the nation of that racism. The establishing of the NAACP illustrates
the intention of this organization. The NAACP underwent countless lawsuits to transform into what
they are today. However, this association has failed a very important campaign, which was to end
lynching once and for all. To further understand the NAACP, one must first learn about its founding,
numerous trials, and one of its more important campaigns. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

As it states in NAACP Formed, 1908 , The event which precipitated the formation of the National
Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) was a bloody race riot in Springfield,
Illinois, in August, 1908, this left two lynched and more than 50 dead or injured, also around 2000
blacks left the area ( NAACP ). In response of this riot, journalist William English Walling, civil rights
activist Mary White Ovington, and labor reformer Dr. Henry Moskowitz held A Conference on the
Status of the Negro on May 31 and June 1, 1909 in New York City, to discuss African American
rights; around 300 people attended and 60 prominent people signed the Call , which meant that they
would help eliminate racism. They were originally known as the National Committee for the
Advancement of the Negro, finally on May 14, 1910 they started to be called the National Association
for the Advancement of Colored People. ( NAACP , National ). The building that they were originally
set up in was the New York Evening Post, where W.E.B. Du Bois created the official NAACP
magazine, The Crisis in order to show dangers manifested toward colored people; their first issue was
printed in November 1910 (Harris 27 29, NAACP ). The NAACP formed to pursue civil, legal,
educational, and political rights; they pursued this goal through political turmoil and prosecution (
National ). This organization stood for equality throughout the United States of

Impact Of Gandhi On Civil Disobedience
Mohandas Gandhi, the leader of India s independence movement in the early 1900s, inspired many
with his use of civil disobedience to bring about change in society. Gandhi was an educated individual
who studied law in London and worked in South Africa. Here, he experienced discrimination first
hand due to British individual s sense of superiority caused by the concept of social darwinism. This
lead to him advocating for equality and later transgressed to the liberation of India, who was at that
time under Britain s control. His method of promoting change through civil disobedience was so
revolutionary in a time where violence was so prominent, and was able to capture the astonishing
resilience of Indians against British oppression.

This type of misconduct would trigger Gandhi to initiate his independence movement. The
imperialistic country has had its root in India since the 18th century with the British East India
Company controlling the Indian subcontinent in later years ( The British ). At first, British was
interested in the economic benefits that India could provide like cotton, salt, and opium, but this
mentality shifted during the British and French war that pushed Britain to established military
supremacy over rival European trading companies and local rulers (Makepeace). The company s
military now had enormous control over the Mughal Empire and abused their power to maximize
profit in the expense of the people. Due to the Sepoy Rebellion in 1857, an unsuccessful uprising
against British rule caused by the use to animal fat in cartridges, the company had to transfer its power
of governing India to the British crown because of mismanagement, but oppression still ensued. In
Gandhi s To Every Englishman in India speech, he highlighted his original belief in the Empire and
gave examples of their mistreatment of the natives. In the beginning of his speech, he used anaphora
to emphasize his contribution to the Empire in the belief that his and fellow Indian soldiers efforts
would help gain his country an equal status. He explained how he risked

Starbucks Swot Analysys
Starbucks Case Study Starbucks has been a household name for over 20 years. It is the largest coffee
house in the world with over 17,000 stores in 50 countries (Wikipedia Website, 2011). How can a
giant like Starbucks stay on top of the coffee market yet retain its personal small coffee house feel?
Starbucks continuous strive and strategic management plans have proven beneficial in keeping to the
goals of the organization.
Strategic Management Setting the Mission and Goals The first step in the strategic management
process is to identify the current goals of the organization (Coulter amp; Robbins, 2009). Starbuck s
original mission statement, as reported in the Jerusalem Post, was to Provide a great work

Starbucks decided that a better loyalty program through the Starbucks Card was necessary. This
program gave frequent customers better incentives such as free refills or a free birthday coffee
(Starbucks Website, 2011). One of Starbuck s strengths was also a weakness. It was huge. The
Starbuck s growth surge had caused it to lose its corner coffee shop appeal. People were starting to
view it as a huge conglomerate and not just a place to go have a great cup of coffee. Schultz decided to
bring back the smaller espresso machines. Doing this enabled the Baristas to be able to look and talk
to the customers and the customers could actually watch them making the drinks (Besharov, et al.,
2008). It also provided a real coffee house look and not an industrial, assembly line as it did
previously.
Evaluation of Starbuck s Strategy I am impressed with Starbuck s strategy. I feel that they are on the
road to being one of the most successful corporations in America. I went to two local Starbucks and
observed the employees and their interactions with the customers. I feel that the new mission is being
adhered to and the partners are engaged and genuinely like working at Starbucks. The customers seem
to love the product they are producing. I was particularly impressed with mystarbucksidea.com
website. There was actual interaction between the customers and the partners. I feel that Starbucks

World War II ended in 1945, but America could not rest. Serious discussion about reorganization
began in Congress and the military department in 1944 and aroused much public interest (Trask 1997).
Because the Air Force played such a large role, discussion of separating the Air Force from the Army
Air Forces (AAF) began. A proposal was created to establish one department for the United States
Armed Forces, combining all the military branches under one department. On 19 December 1945,
President Truman sent a message to Congress recommending a single department of national defense
with three coordinate branches land, sea, and air. (Trask 1997). Management of Military and foreign

The National Security Act of 1947 not only created the CIA, but it also separated the Air Force from
the United States Army Air Forces (AAF). This act established a new Department of the Air Force and
the U.S. Air Force (Trask 1997). The importance of National Security in the 1940s was still present
during President Regan s administration in the 1980s. To strengthen strategic deterrence, President
Reagan revived the B 1 advanced bomber and approved acquisition of the B 2 stealth bomber (Trest
1998). The United States Air Force has adapted since the Cold War era since there is no longer a need
for such a large force. The modern United States Air Force has aircraft designed to destroy air and
ground targets, and their cargo aircraft can be used to support humanitarian aid across the globe. The
United States Air Force is an active component of the United States Cyber Command and combating
cyber attacks against America. The Air Force has created a Reconnaissance Squadron that operates
Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV). The United States Air Force has been involved in the Korean War,
Vietnam War, Gulf War, and is still active in the Global War on Terrorism.
The National Security Act of 1947 created a cabinet level, civilian Secretary of Defense to preside
over separate departments of the Army, Navy, and Air Force. It institutionalized the wartime Joint
Chiefs of Staff (JCS), established a National Security Council (NSC) in the White House to

Analysis Of The Poem Dream Deferred
Pursuing Dreams
The overall meaning of this poem is about the consequences of not pursuing your dreams. For some
this can be a horrible thing while for others, it can be a blessing in disguise. The poem begins with a
simple question, What happens to a dream deferred (line 1)? What occurs when an individual goes in
another direction from a goal or ambition they had once desired? Does it cause a weight to be lifted?
Does it cause fear and anxiety? This poem focusing on the consequences or benefits that are the result
of a dream that goes unachieved. The speaker lays out the possible different outcomes that would
occur when someone gives up on their dreams. The first of the possible scenarios is listed as Does it
dry up / like a raisin in the sun (lines 3 4)? The dream begins as a youthful, ambitious goal for life.
This goal slowly begins to fade as the person ages. Whether this is due to shifts in priorities or
unforeseen circumstances, things have changed over time. A dream that once seemed to be very
achievable is now nothing more than a small memory in the back of ones mind. The metaphor that is
used here is a grape drying up to become a raisin, just like their dreams can shrink down into a
fraction of what they once were. The next scenario is a how a deferred dream can affect you a little
more harshly. The speaker asks, Or fester like a sore / And then run (lines 4 5)? The sore that is
mentioned can be thought of as more of a wound. It is not so much the result

DISNEY S INFLUENCE ON YOUNG GIRLS GENDER ROLE AND SELF ESTEEM
Genevie M. Sauceda
Texas A M University San Antonio Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to examine if a relationship between gender role and self esteem exist in
girls who view Disney Princess movies. Twenty one elementary fifth grade girl s ages ten and eleven
were questioned on how Disney princess movies influence their perception of gender role and self
esteem. The results suggest there is a relationship between the two variables, however it is a weak
correlation. It also revealed gender stereotypical behavior roles (e.g. gentle, weak, dependent,
beautiful, and perform domestic duties) did not have a statistical significant in young girls self esteem.
Keywords: Children; Disney; Gender; Gender role; Self esteem; Television INTRODUCTION
Since the mid twentieth century, researchers have studied the amount of television watched by
American children. They found children spend more time, almost 5,000 hours, watching television
than any other activity except sleep prior to entering into grade school (Liebert, Neale, Davidson,
1973). These results rank television as the main source of entertainment for young children between
the ages of three to fives years old.
Disney is one of the five top grossing corporations in the world of media entertainment and product
consumerism (England, Descartes, Collier Meek, 2011). According to Bazzini, Curtin, Joslin, Regan,

The Height Of Labor During The Interval Level Of...
Exercise 11
What demographic variables were measured at least at the interval level of measurement? (Grove 79)
Age, income, length of labour, return to work, and number of hours per working week were the
demographic variables measured at the least interval f measurement.
What statistics were used to describe the length of labor in this study? Were these appropriate? (Grove
79)
Mean and standard deviation were used to describe the length of labor in the study. These were
appropriate because mean (M) is used to calculate interval (and ratio) data, thus, the length of labor in
interval data.
What other statistic could have been used to describe the length of labor? Provide a rationale for your
answer. (Grove 79)
Sample variance could have also been used to describe the length of labor because it is the sample
standard deviation squared.
Were the distributions of scores similar for the experimental and control groups for the length of
labor? Provide a rationale for your answer. (Grove 79)
The standard deviation scores did not possess any significant difference because the standard
deviation for the experimental group was 7.78 and 7.2 for the control group, so the difference was
only 0.58. However, the difference in the mean for both groups were significant in that the mean for
the experimental group was 14.63 and 12.79 for the control, which is a difference of 1.84. But based
on the narrative from the study, the groups were not significantly different for any of the

A Thousand Splendid Suns Analysis
For many years, women have been oppressed and treated as property. The opinion of a woman did not

the her husband required of her, however there was one thing should could not. Which was give her

Mariam ..understood then what Nana meant, that a harami was an unwanted thing; that she...was an

those words from her mother. Laila on the other hand was severely neglected. After being bullied by
the neighborhood kids after her mother once again forgot to pick her up from school; Laila believed
that people Shouldn t be allowed to have new children if they d already given away all their love to

MERS-COV Infection Lab Report
In general, these lab tests fall into two categories:
Molecular tests, looking for evidence of active infection.
Serology tests, looking for previous infection by detecting antibodies to MERS CoV. Serology tests
are for monitoring purposes not for diagnostic purposes (11).
Routine confirmation of coronavirus infection based on detection of unique sequences of viral RNA
by real time reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (RT PCR) and sequencing. Any testing
for the presence of this virus must be performed in appropriately equipped laboratories by staff trained
in the pertinent technical and safety procedures. A number of RT PCR assays that are specific for the
coronavirus develop and publish. Currently described tests include an assay targeting upstream of the
E protein gene (upE)1 and assays targeting the open reading frame 1b (ORF 1b) gene1 and the open
reading frame 1a (ORF 1a) gene2. The assay for the upE target is considered highly sensitive, with the
ORF 1a assay considered of equal sensitivity. The ORF 1b assay is considered less sensitive than the

First Impressions In Sir Gawain And The Green Knight
Have you ever made a first impression about a person, but when you actually talk to or learn about the

meeting a person for the first time, and the way they act around you, makes you have a first

nor will they always make a great first impression. It s the little bit of time you spend with the person
that you find out they re different from what you was thinking. First Impressions can be very

Sustainable Drainage For Highways Infrastructure
Sustainable Drainage for highways infrastructure
Introduction
Construction of no porous highway surfaces and pavements areas have high possibility of modifying
the hydrological cycle with larger volumes of runoff being conveyed over short periods of time at
increased flow rates to nearby water courses. Highway drainage has been designed to rapidly remove
surface runoff from the carriageway and discharge directly and positively into nearest watercourses. It
is now recognised that runoff from highways contains range of pollutants which have negative
impacts on watercourses such as vehicle derived exhaust emissions, fuel and lubricant losses tyre and
car fabric losses . Ground paving in leading to flooding, water pollution and situation is likely to get
worse as climate changes. Drainage need to be designed to keep to water on site longer and allow
percolation as a result reducing pollution and flooding. If possible water should be stored and used.
The existing drainage system on A45/A46 Tollbar junction is a combination of piped system, kerbs
and gullies discharging to carrier pipes and surface water channels discharging into carrier pipes
network. Runoff collected from the junction finally discharge into river Avon. The present drainage
system has no special features to make it sustainable. The system does not have oil/petrol interceptors
or any device for controlling pollution. There are no measures to deal with accidental spillage, which
will discharge into river Avon.

The Importance Of Art In Schools
Bob Bryant the Executive Director of Fine Arts for Katy ISD in 2000, emphasises the importance of
utilizing art in schools curriculums: The arts are what make us most human, most complete as people.
The arts cannot be learned through occasional or random exposure any more than math or science can
(Bryant). Art is a way of expression and leads to acquiring a deeper understanding of the details ,
presented to us, in life. Why is that on the first day of preschool, teachers teach through the help of
art? The foundation of our learning is through art. Creativity is the most exuberant and imaginative as
our early stages of life. Creativity can neither be contained nor limited. Art is an outlet used for people
to show who they are. Not only does art the pivot of one s individualism, but it is also kindred with
intercultural relationships. Traditional pieces of art are passed down from each generation to carry out
a group s heritage. Since art is an essential, integral part in a student s academic learning, schools
should make art classes mandatory. Students should be engaged and willing to learn more about what
they are learning. With art there is no need for you to be good at it. Art is depended only on the artist
himself/herself. If students view art as just another subject then they are missing the academic value
art gives. Students have said that art should be viewed as an extracurricular activity or exploratory
classes. Art goes beyond having artistic value and surpasses the idea of one s own limits. Some people
see art as an elective class, or a hobby class. According to Allyono17, one of the authors of Teen Ink
magazine, explains the importance of the beneficiaries of the present by saying, First, art and music
classes don t seem to be used on an everyday basis. There is no point in learning and spending time on
a class that won t be needed in your future (Allyono17). Every class that a student takes, will benefit
them in some way or the other. When walking into a school, the first thing people will see are artwork
in the halls. When going to church, people see artwork of who and what they believe in. Art is
everywhere, and if students are required to take art classes then they will be able to

Safety Net
The effect of smaller government safety nets on families is drastic. The United States is one of the few
countries left in the world that has yet to understand the importance of strong supports for the primary
building block of our society. By continuing to balance our competing ideals of individualism against
marriage and family we are putting the very foundations of our country at risk. Our current federal
safety net is made up of many individual policies and programs. They are generally independent of
each other and attack a single aspect of poverty. Taken as a whole they represent a challenging matrix
for the poor to use and the American taxpayer to understand ( Safety Net Programs Federal Safety
Net, n.d.).
In the instance of a family facing the crisis of raising a child with disabilities, this situation can be
both ineffective and confusing. For example, if a family faces the challenge of raising a child
diagnosed with autism life can change instantly. Immediately decisions ... Show more content on

The safety net should have support systems available to aid in the family s ability to restructure its
dynamics and come to terms with a new reality. When this does not happen for a family, it leaves them
unsure of the next steps to take for their child, emotionally exhausted, and with fewer economic
resources. When safety nets are smaller and less certain, families serve more prominent roles as
educators, healthcare providers, personnel managers, and social workers for their members
(Bogenschneider, 2014, p. 115). As many families in America face caring for their family members in
situations such as autism, aging parents, children with disabilities, and others who are chronically ill it
is time to implement an effective government safety net to help families restructure and face the
challenges as an cohesive family

Tom Brown And Arthur s Relationship
Tom Brown grows in both maturity and manliness during his stay at Rugby. He develops good

In Tom Brown s Schooldays, the author, Thomas Hughes laments on modern, technological advances.
He claims they are tearing apart England s culture. With the invention of the railroad and new ways of
traveling, more and more men are leaving their country in search of new adventures. They leave
behind England s traditions and cease to celebrate them. One of these traditions is the veast, which is a
feast where many traditional games are played. This tradition would bring together all Englishmen in
the villages, no matter their social status or age. However, since the new generation is more interested
in the railroad and faster travel, the veast is not as celebrated. The young people do not experience a
sense of unity and patriotism because they are too busy traveling to come home. As for the education
at Rugby, this too is very traditional. Instead of chasing after the newest trends of the era, the boys at
Rugby are instilled with the morals of old England; to be virtuous, moral, masculine, Christian men.
The veast and Rugby are what keep the traditions of old England alive, despite the attempts of new
advancements to get rid of

Similarities Between Wwi And WWII
World War I and World War II, costed many nations hundreds of thousands of lives. The wars are like
feeling angry about losing a game, useless and unfortunate. Although WWI and WWII happened at
completely different times, they consist of several similarities, as in who fought and why, as well as
differences, such as how the U.S. joined and why, and the weapons they used.
World War I (WWI), took place over a span of a few years causing many deaths. WWI occurred from
1914 to 1919, and started due to the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand (Staff, 2016). Many
factors played into the starting of this war. Poor communication caused a lot of problems during the
first world war. Battles would start without the proper equipment or number of troop. ... Show more

Rhetorical Analysis Of Coach Brook s Pentad
A miracle on ice happened during the 1980 Lake Placid Olympics. These Olympic games were being
held in the midst of the Cold War and ironically the finalists in men s hockey were hosting a war of
their own. A battle for the gold medal was taking place and the two teams battling for glory were the
underdog USA team and the best team in the world, the Soviets/Team Russia. This specific game is
one of legend because it really was a miracle on ice watching the underdog USA team defeat the
untouchable Soviets. The main purpose of this study is to examine the infamous locker room speech
given to the United States men s hockey team by Coach Herb Brooks. This speech can be analyzed by
many different rhetorical theories but this paper will focus on Kenneth Burke s dramatism pentad.
Burke s pentad encompasses five points: agent, agency, act, scene, and purpose (ADD CITATION).
All of these units to the pentad will play a significant role in analyzing Coach Brook s speech because
they are all presented in this act of rhetoric.
Justification
Communication and rhetoric in sports has always been an interest to communication scholars.
Analyzing the communication used in Coach Brook s locker room speech lets one understand how
Burke s pentad makes it all work. Burke s pentad originated, as a tool used to systematically dismantle
and understand the bases of human conduct and motivation (Ling, 1969, p. 81). This analysis relies
heavily on motivation and why the speaker is doing what

Benefits Of Equal Pay In Sports
Ladies and gentleman (Pathos, direct address), can you imagine a world where men and women, who
work the same job, receive the same pay? Women should be given equal pay as men s athletics
because they have equal opportunities. As written in a legislation in 1972, it is stated that No person in
the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits
of, or be subjected to discrimination under any educational program or activity receiving Federal
financial assistance. (Ethos, appeal to audience) This statement proves that women should not be
excluded and that they in fact do have a right when it comes, not only to sports, but to basic needs as
well. Seeing as how women have proved themselves in the past several decades, and proved to the
world that they are much more than what people believe they are. For example the US Women s
national soccer team, has been seen more and more in the news than ever before because of their
accomplishments, and how much they have been winning. The women put their heart and soul into
every game and practice that they play. Imagine that you are on a team that means the world to you
and you are seen as one of the number one players in the world. You play every game with heart and
passion and never give anything less than satisfactory. When it comes to the end of the day, after all of
the hard work you put in and give to the team and corporation, you are not given the equal amount of

Summary Of The Poem XIV By John Walcott
From the very beginning of the poem XIV , it is clear the author is describing an experience that has
left a lasting impression on him. Walcott vividly details his childhood visit with the elderly storyteller,
and his journey there. Throughout the poem the author uses poetic devices to convey how this
experience was a defining moment in his transformation from childhood to adulthood, and contributed
to his identity and newfound wisdom. It is apparent from the first line of the poem that author is in a
state of overriding fear travelling through the unknown: likening the road to an old snake shedding its
skin. A snake is a clear representation of childhood fear and youthful paranoia, due to its intimidating
nature. Walcott compares the path to a snake because he fears it just like a snake, to him the path is
daunting and potentially deadly at first. The author not only compares the road to a snake but a snake
shedding its skin. This paints a grotesque image for readers and illustrates how he views his initial
journey with anything but enthusiasm. The author is in the unfamiliar wilderness searching for not
only the storyteller s house but himself. His state of childhood terror is only counterbalanced by his
encounter with the storyteller. Walcott effectively separates the poem into two parts according to the
state of mind he was in: fright and then wonder. He shifts from these two contrasting moods by stating
There s childhood, and there s childhood s

Space Shuttle Research Paper
Spaceships transport humans from Earth to space and then back to Earth in the space shuttle program.
In order for a space shuttle to be lifted from Earth, a lot of force is needed. That is because lift force is
having to act against the force of gravity which pulls down on the shuttle. The force is produced by
fuel, so it takes a great deal of fuel. Bringing the space shuttle back down to Earth requires much less
fuel. When a space shuttle mission is completed, astronauts use the force of gravity to pull the
spaceship back to the surface of the Earth.
Landing the spacecraft seems very easy, but that is not always the case. As the space shuttle enters the
Earth s atmosphere, it begins to hit air molecules. Because the space shuttle is

The Causes Of Maternal Mortality And Morbidity
It is estimated that 529, 000 maternal deaths occur globally every year in developing countries. The
probability that a woman will die during pregnancy is 400 per 100,000 live births. The risk is higher in
sub Saharan Africa with 1,000 per 100,000 live births. The death of a woman during pregnancy,
childbirth, or the postpartum period, is known as maternal mortality, occurs in 99% of all developing
countries (WHO, 2015).
According to the World Health Organization, the causes of maternal mortality and morbidity in Sub
Saharan Africa are mainly results of a defective health system when it comes to dealing with
complications during and after birth. The complications that contribute greatly to maternal mortality
include hemorrhage, infection, high blood pressure, unsafe abortions, and obstructed labor. These
complications are the leading causes of death among women aged 15 to 49 in developing countries.
Kenya is a country that has been making a lot of progress in approaching some of the Millennium
Development Goals (MDG) and certain health indicators. However, reducing maternal mortality still
remains a challenge in this nation. The reason behind this slow progression results from the interaction
of social, cultural, economic and logistical barriers, combined with a high fertility rate (World Bank),
and inadequate and under funded health services (WHO). Strengthening the health system and
improving quality of healthcare delivery can overcome these challenges.

Phonic Strategies
Answer:
I use some strategies from Orton Gillingham. I would focus on breaking apart words and the rules that
go along with it. I think you need it. I teach Zack (her son) with phonics. I do not feel we do a strong
enough foundation in it. It needs to be focused on longer then what it is.
Analysis:
Phonics is understanding the relationship between letters and sounds. It is important for all people to
get a good grasp of it when they are young. Having this knowledge will create a strong basis for
learning the English language. Mrs. Baughman uses phonics as much as she can in her sixth grade
science and language arts classes. The formal teaching of phonics is finished before sixth grade, but

Baughman is using word identification strategies in her classroom. Some strategies to help with word
identification are using context clues, word analysis (affixes and suffixes), and sounding out words.
Mrs. Baughman is doing very well on how she is handling words that are hard to identify. In her
science class she probably runs into many words that are very hard for her students to say. These sight
words would be considered Tier three words. This is Isabel Beck s way of categorizing vocabulary
words into three tiers: Tier one, Tier two, and Tier three. Tier one words are the basic words that
children should already know like door, paper, and ball. Tier two words are high frequency words that
are needed when using mature language. Some examples include analysis, performed, and benevolent.
Lastly, Tier three words are only found in specific fields of study like prokaryote, isotope, and
arachnids. You only find these words when teaching a certain topic like Mrs. Baughman s science
class. Telling a student to sound out the word can help them to identify what it may be. An example of
this happened to me while I was in high school. I came across the word Mediocre and I could not
figure out the pronunciation of this word so I asked my teacher. Once she gave me the right
pronunciation I understood the meaning of it without asking. This is why word identification is so
important. Once a student knows how to pronounce words correctly they will more easily be able to

The Revolt of Mother by Mary E. Wilkins Freeman and Trifles by Susan Glaspell: Where s The Power

In the late nineteenth century, America was considered as a patriarchal society. Where males had all
control and women worked as their slave. Women were to support all decisions, cook, clean, conceive
children, teach, and remain silent. Women has continuously remained a lower standard than men. Still
today, womankind is assumed of as unintelligent, inadequate, weak minded, and unimportant than
males. Mary E. Wilkins Freeman, the author of The Revolt of Mother , and Susan Glaspell the author

Greek Influence On Italy
Italy is a nation that is present in southern Europe on the Mediterranean Sea. It is also known for its
cultural heritage and for its most famous architectural achievements. However, Italy is also considered
by many historians as one of the most sly and mysterious country in World War I. Many would
remember major powers such as Great Britain, Germany, and Russia, however, these small countries
contribute to major battles and events in history. Moreover, Italy infamously went from being a neutral
country to being a victim of war. Likewise, Italy has been in the same situation as Belgium in which
they follow a policy of neutrality but in the end are influenced by other countries to join the war. Italy

Whether in times of Renaissance or when the Roman Empire began to flourish, Italy had remained
loyal to their culture. The culture of italy had originated from Greece which, no one had outdone them
until the reign of the Roman Empire. The culture of Greece had such a major impact that it can be
seen centuries later. Primarily, this can be authenticated as seen in the religion aspect in World War I.
Italy s main religion is catholicism which comprised ¾ of the population while the ¼ of the people
were cast out and were forgotten. The religion of Catholicism has been present since ancient times and
is still present today. Furthermore, Italy s culture was so great and extraordinary because their culture
was very unique unlike any other nation. As a result, many civilizations and nations had been greatly
influenced almost to the point of assimilation. Such unique aspects can be observed in their art. Artists
like Leonardo Da Vinci, Van Gogh, Raphael, and Michelangelo are one of the many influential artists
in the world. Their famous paintings such as the Mona Lisa, The Scream, Starry Night, and The
Creation of Adam have been so successful that they are the most recognizable pieces of art today.
Furthermore, artists of italy have been known to be very adroit at creating fascinating sculptures like
The Statue of David and The Madonna of Humility. However, music and drama had the same degree
of influence just as art had on its people and other nations. Music has been known to play a major role
in society since the beginning of the Middle Ages. For example, Andrea Amati who had lived from the
ages of 1500 until 1577, laid the basis of violin making. The art of drama had originated in Greece but
it was culturally diffused into the empire of Rome. It s main

Summary Of Sproul Plaza By Krzsztof Pomian
Krzsztof Pomian discusses the relation between usefulness and value that might be seen to contradict
what we typically think barriers, such as the one found of Sproul Plaza represent. He states that, the
more an object is attributed meaning, the less the interest which is taken in its usefulness (Pomian 32).
What Pomian does not address, however, is the idea of implicating an item to be both useful and
valuable. He believes that when an item is used it deteriorates the value of the object. The barriers set
up on Sproul Plaza contradict this notion in the sense that they provided both value and use for the
police officers because they were able channel the crowd in a way deemed by the police to be safe.
Not only did the police officers believe that the barriers were valued but before some students touched
the barricades, they would look around to see if anyone was watching because they believed that there
was value within the object they were about to touch and did not want to get in trouble. Students have
inherently learned that these barricades instill power and value because of previous events where these
barriers were also present. Pomian states, most important of all, talk to the dead as though they were

Through a coordinated effort, RSA worked with law enforcement, the intelligence community, and
other commercial entities.
RSA s actions stand in contrast to many corporations that do not acknowledge breaches of sensitive
information systems for fear of alarming shareholders and exposing the corporation to lawsuits
(Gross, 2011). Even when evidence points to nation state involvement (most often China), many
companies still refuse to acknowledge breaches. The fear of offending the Chinese and jeopardizing
their share of that country s exploding markets is reason enough to remain quiet (Gross). Despite
mounting evidence, the U.S. government, for its part, has been fecklessly circumspect in calling out
the Chinese (Gross).
Incident Recovery
Recovery after the breach at RSA was not limited to the RSA environment. Due to the widespread
implementation of RSA tokens across industry and government agencies (and its contractors) the
breach had far reaching implications across multiple sectors.
In an attempt to mitigate potential attacks on its customers environments related to the stolen
information, RSA outlined nine steps customers could take to harden their IT infrastructures and
reduce their chances of being breached (Gov InfoSecurity). While the recommended steps were
followed by defense contractor Lockheed Martin, they were later breached in an attack related to the

PSYCHOPATHY OR ANTISOCIAL PERSONALITY DISORDER 2.
Abstract
This paper will focus on the relevance of assessing psychopathy or antisocial personality disorder. The
importance of the assessment and the adjudication process will also be discussed.
Key words: psychopathy, antisocial personality disorder, violence recidivism.
PSYCHOPATHY OR ANTISOCIAL PERSONALITY DISORDER 3.
According to Pinel (1801) psychopathy is defined as persons with complete cognitive capacity but
these persons experienced spontaneous and antisocial behavior. These persons suffered from mania
without insanity. Pinel (1801) in his description was distinguishing those persons whose unlawful acts
and depraved acts were due to mental deficiencies or psychopathology as opposed to those with no
indication of any mental defects. Psychopathy has a strong connection to violent behavior and
recidivism. Research indicates that persons with high levels of psychopathy are more likely to
continue instrumental violent behavior when compared to those person s with lower levels of
psychopathy Jackson, R. (2008). Mannerisms connected to this behavior are grandiosity and arrogance
which are frequently found in psychopaths . According to a study completed by Williamson, Hare and

Concealment in the Twelfth Night Essay
British Literature: Concealment in Twelfth Night
Throughout Twelfth Night, concealment influences each character s life because it s essential to
portray how falsehood can be amusing or agonizing before they can discover their identity in life.
Therefore, the concept of concealment not only affects the characters mistaken identities and abilities
to express true love, but it gives the story comedic and entertaining qualities. Furthermore,
concealment portrayed throughout this story makes each character develop an identity with either
showing cleverness or madness, while it also makes each character realize the principles towards

prevents Viola from expressing her love for Orsino, it contributes to the dramatic ironies by causing
complications of mistaken identity. Moreover, Viola cannot show her love for Orsino, the only way
she can express them is in her soliloquies to the reader, this contributes to the dramatic ironies. For
example, when Viola conveys to Orsino what Olivia told her concerning love by saying:

  • 2. Naacp Failure Imagine never being allowed to go to school, eat at a restaurant or even use the bathroom. This was what countless African Americans were prevented to do on a daily basis. For many years, this type of racism was common in the United States. The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, or NAACP aimed to rid the nation of that racism. The establishing of the NAACP illustrates the intention of this organization. The NAACP underwent countless lawsuits to transform into what they are today. However, this association has failed a very important campaign, which was to end lynching once and for all. To further understand the NAACP, one must first learn about its founding, numerous trials, and one of its more important campaigns. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As it states in NAACP Formed, 1908 , The event which precipitated the formation of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) was a bloody race riot in Springfield, Illinois, in August, 1908, this left two lynched and more than 50 dead or injured, also around 2000 blacks left the area ( NAACP ). In response of this riot, journalist William English Walling, civil rights activist Mary White Ovington, and labor reformer Dr. Henry Moskowitz held A Conference on the Status of the Negro on May 31 and June 1, 1909 in New York City, to discuss African American rights; around 300 people attended and 60 prominent people signed the Call , which meant that they would help eliminate racism. They were originally known as the National Committee for the Advancement of the Negro, finally on May 14, 1910 they started to be called the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. ( NAACP , National ). The building that they were originally set up in was the New York Evening Post, where W.E.B. Du Bois created the official NAACP magazine, The Crisis in order to show dangers manifested toward colored people; their first issue was printed in November 1910 (Harris 27 29, NAACP ). The NAACP formed to pursue civil, legal, educational, and political rights; they pursued this goal through political turmoil and prosecution ( National ). • 3. Impact Of Gandhi On Civil Disobedience Mohandas Gandhi, the leader of India s independence movement in the early 1900s, inspired many with his use of civil disobedience to bring about change in society. Gandhi was an educated individual who studied law in London and worked in South Africa. Here, he experienced discrimination first hand due to British individual s sense of superiority caused by the concept of social darwinism. This lead to him advocating for equality and later transgressed to the liberation of India, who was at that time under Britain s control. His method of promoting change through civil disobedience was so revolutionary in a time where violence was so prominent, and was able to capture the astonishing resilience of Indians against British oppression. Gandhi s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This type of misconduct would trigger Gandhi to initiate his independence movement. The imperialistic country has had its root in India since the 18th century with the British East India Company controlling the Indian subcontinent in later years ( The British ). At first, British was interested in the economic benefits that India could provide like cotton, salt, and opium, but this mentality shifted during the British and French war that pushed Britain to established military supremacy over rival European trading companies and local rulers (Makepeace). The company s military now had enormous control over the Mughal Empire and abused their power to maximize profit in the expense of the people. Due to the Sepoy Rebellion in 1857, an unsuccessful uprising against British rule caused by the use to animal fat in cartridges, the company had to transfer its power of governing India to the British crown because of mismanagement, but oppression still ensued. In Gandhi s To Every Englishman in India speech, he highlighted his original belief in the Empire and gave examples of their mistreatment of the natives. In the beginning of his speech, he used anaphora to emphasize his contribution to the Empire in the belief that his and fellow Indian soldiers efforts would help gain his country an equal status. It is the largest coffee house in the world with over 17,000 stores in 50 countries (Wikipedia Website, 2011). How can a giant like Starbucks stay on top of the coffee market yet retain its personal small coffee house feel? Starbucks continuous strive and strategic management plans have proven beneficial in keeping to the goals of the organization. Strategic Management Setting the Mission and Goals The first step in the strategic management process is to identify the current goals of the organization (Coulter amp; Robbins, 2009). Starbuck s original mission statement, as reported in the Jerusalem Post, was to Provide a great work environment and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Starbucks decided that a better loyalty program through the Starbucks Card was necessary. This program gave frequent customers better incentives such as free refills or a free birthday coffee (Starbucks Website, 2011). One of Starbuck s strengths was also a weakness. It was huge. The Starbuck s growth surge had caused it to lose its corner coffee shop appeal. People were starting to view it as a huge conglomerate and not just a place to go have a great cup of coffee. Schultz decided to bring back the smaller espresso machines. Doing this enabled the Baristas to be able to look and talk to the customers and the customers could actually watch them making the drinks (Besharov, et al., 2008). It also provided a real coffee house look and not an industrial, assembly line as it did previously. Evaluation of Starbuck s Strategy I am impressed with Starbuck s strategy. I feel that they are on the road to being one of the most successful corporations in America. I went to two local Starbucks and observed the employees and their interactions with the customers. I feel that the new mission is being adhered to and the partners are engaged and genuinely like working at Starbucks. The customers seem to love the product they are producing. I was particularly impressed with mystarbucksidea.com website. There was actual interaction between the customers and the partners. I feel that Starbucks will have to soon address the issue of ... • 7. Analysis Of The Poem Dream Deferred Pursuing Dreams The overall meaning of this poem is about the consequences of not pursuing your dreams. For some this can be a horrible thing while for others, it can be a blessing in disguise. The poem begins with a simple question, What happens to a dream deferred (line 1)? What occurs when an individual goes in another direction from a goal or ambition they had once desired? Does it cause a weight to be lifted? Does it cause fear and anxiety? This poem focusing on the consequences or benefits that are the result of a dream that goes unachieved. The speaker lays out the possible different outcomes that would occur when someone gives up on their dreams. The first of the possible scenarios is listed as Does it dry up / like a raisin in the sun (lines 3 4)? The dream begins as a youthful, ambitious goal for life. This goal slowly begins to fade as the person ages. Whether this is due to shifts in priorities or unforeseen circumstances, things have changed over time. A dream that once seemed to be very achievable is now nothing more than a small memory in the back of ones mind. The metaphor that is used here is a grape drying up to become a raisin, just like their dreams can shrink down into a fraction of what they once were. Sauceda Texas A M University San Antonio Abstract The purpose of this paper is to examine if a relationship between gender role and self esteem exist in girls who view Disney Princess movies. Twenty one elementary fifth grade girl s ages ten and eleven were questioned on how Disney princess movies influence their perception of gender role and self esteem. The results suggest there is a relationship between the two variables, however it is a weak correlation. It also revealed gender stereotypical behavior roles (e.g. gentle, weak, dependent, beautiful, and perform domestic duties) did not have a statistical significant in young girls self esteem. Keywords: Children; Disney; Gender; Gender role; Self esteem; Television INTRODUCTION Since the mid twentieth century, researchers have studied the amount of television watched by American children. They found children spend more time, almost 5,000 hours, watching television than any other activity except sleep prior to entering into grade school (Liebert, Neale, Davidson, 1973). These results rank television as the main source of entertainment for young children between the ages of three to fives years old. Sustainable Drainage For Highways Infrastructure Sustainable Drainage for highways infrastructure Introduction Construction of no porous highway surfaces and pavements areas have high possibility of modifying the hydrological cycle with larger volumes of runoff being conveyed over short periods of time at increased flow rates to nearby water courses. Highway drainage has been designed to rapidly remove surface runoff from the carriageway and discharge directly and positively into nearest watercourses. The Importance Of Art In Schools Bob Bryant the Executive Director of Fine Arts for Katy ISD in 2000, emphasises the importance of utilizing art in schools curriculums: The arts are what make us most human, most complete as people. The arts cannot be learned through occasional or random exposure any more than math or science can (Bryant). Art is a way of expression and leads to acquiring a deeper understanding of the details , presented to us, in life. Why is that on the first day of preschool, teachers teach through the help of art? The foundation of our learning is through art. Creativity is the most exuberant and imaginative as our early stages of life. Creativity can neither be contained nor limited. Art is an outlet used for people to show who they are. Not only does art the pivot of one s individualism, but it is also kindred with intercultural relationships. Traditional pieces of art are passed down from each generation to carry out a group s heritage. Since art is an essential, integral part in a student s academic learning, schools should make art classes mandatory. Students should be engaged and willing to learn more about what they are learning. With art there is no need for you to be good at it. Art is depended only on the artist himself/herself. If students view art as just another subject then they are missing the academic value art gives. Students have said that art should be viewed as an extracurricular activity or exploratory classes. Art goes beyond having artistic value and surpasses the idea of one s own limits. Some people see art as an elective class, or a hobby class. According to Allyono17, one of the authors of Teen Ink magazine, explains the importance of the beneficiaries of the present by saying, First, art and music classes don t seem to be used on an everyday basis. There is no point in learning and spending time on a class that won t be needed in your future (Allyono17). Every class that a student takes, will benefit them in some way or the other. • 24. Summary Of The Poem XIV By John Walcott From the very beginning of the poem XIV , it is clear the author is describing an experience that has left a lasting impression on him. Walcott vividly details his childhood visit with the elderly storyteller, and his journey there. Throughout the poem the author uses poetic devices to convey how this experience was a defining moment in his transformation from childhood to adulthood, and contributed to his identity and newfound wisdom. It is apparent from the first line of the poem that author is in a state of overriding fear travelling through the unknown: likening the road to an old snake shedding its skin. A snake is a clear representation of childhood fear and youthful paranoia, due to its intimidating nature. Walcott compares the path to a snake because he fears it just like a snake, to him the path is daunting and potentially deadly at first. The author not only compares the road to a snake but a snake shedding its skin. This paints a grotesque image for readers and illustrates how he views his initial journey with anything but enthusiasm. The author is in the unfamiliar wilderness searching for not only the storyteller s house but himself. His state of childhood terror is only counterbalanced by his encounter with the storyteller. Walcott effectively separates the poem into two parts according to the state of mind he was in: fright and then wonder. He shifts from these two contrasting moods by stating There s childhood, and there s childhood s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The probability that a woman will die during pregnancy is 400 per 100,000 live births. The risk is higher in sub Saharan Africa with 1,000 per 100,000 live births. The death of a woman during pregnancy, childbirth, or the postpartum period, is known as maternal mortality, occurs in 99% of all developing countries (WHO, 2015). According to the World Health Organization, the causes of maternal mortality and morbidity in Sub Saharan Africa are mainly results of a defective health system when it comes to dealing with complications during and after birth. The complications that contribute greatly to maternal mortality include hemorrhage, infection, high blood pressure, unsafe abortions, and obstructed labor. These complications are the leading causes of death among women aged 15 to 49 in developing countries. Kenya is a country that has been making a lot of progress in approaching some of the Millennium Development Goals (MDG) and certain health indicators. However, reducing maternal mortality still remains a challenge in this nation. You only find these words when teaching a certain topic like Mrs. Baughman s science class. Telling a student to sound out the word can help them to identify what it may be. An example of this happened to me while I was in high school. I came across the word Mediocre and I could not figure out the pronunciation of this word so I asked my teacher. Once she gave me the right pronunciation I understood the meaning of it without asking. This is why word identification is so important. Once a student knows how to pronounce words correctly they will more easily be able to grasp the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the late nineteenth century, America was considered as a patriarchal society. Where males had all control and women worked as their slave. Women were to support all decisions, cook, clean, conceive children, teach, and remain silent. Women has continuously remained a lower standard than men. Still today, womankind is assumed of as unintelligent, inadequate, weak minded, and unimportant than males. Mary E. Wilkins Freeman, the author of The Revolt of Mother , and Susan Glaspell the author of Trifles, share the true meaning of women s empowerment. The focus of the stories revolves around the ... For instance, in the beginning of the story, Mrs. Penn constantly askes Mr. Penn, why is he building a new barn. Mr. Penn avoids the question and tries to shoot her off. Adoniram shows this behavior because women are not supposed to become a speaking subject. For this reason, Sarah explains to Nanny one of these days you ll find out, an then you ll know only what men folks think we do, so far as any use of it goes, an how we d ought to reckon men folks in with Providence an not complain of what they do any more than we do of the weather (Mary E. Men and women only agree completely when it s a team effort. There s certain things a man wouldn t understand about a woman as for a woman to a man. Father s main symbol of success is his barn (Cutter). For Father, his only vision leads to money. In other words, The wilderness into cattle, the cattle into money, and then the money into more barns to house more cattle (Cutter). The more money Father has, the more growth in ego. Whereas, Mother counterpoises the actual and symbolic realm of the home (Cutter). Mother isn t as materialistic as Father. The new home is for expanding the generation and honoring Nanny s wedding. • 30. Greek Influence On Italy Italy is a nation that is present in southern Europe on the Mediterranean Sea. It is also known for its cultural heritage and for its most famous architectural achievements. However, Italy is also considered by many historians as one of the most sly and mysterious country in World War I. Many would remember major powers such as Great Britain, Germany, and Russia, however, these small countries contribute to major battles and events in history. Moreover, Italy infamously went from being a neutral country to being a victim of war. Likewise, Italy has been in the same situation as Belgium in which they follow a policy of neutrality but in the end are influenced by other countries to join the war. Whether in times of Renaissance or when the Roman Empire began to flourish, Italy had remained loyal to their culture. The culture of italy had originated from Greece which, no one had outdone them until the reign of the Roman Empire. The culture of Greece had such a major impact that it can be seen centuries later. Primarily, this can be authenticated as seen in the religion aspect in World War I. Italy s main religion is catholicism which comprised ¾ of the population while the ¼ of the people were cast out and were forgotten. The religion of Catholicism has been present since ancient times and is still present today. Furthermore, Italy s culture was so great and extraordinary because their culture was very unique unlike any other nation. As a result, many civilizations and nations had been greatly influenced almost to the point of assimilation. Such unique aspects can be observed in their art. Artists like Leonardo Da Vinci, Van Gogh, Raphael, and Michelangelo are one of the many influential artists in the world. Their famous paintings such as the Mona Lisa, The Scream, Starry Night, and The Creation of Adam have been so successful that they are the most recognizable pieces of art today. Furthermore, artists of italy have been known to be very adroit at creating fascinating sculptures like The Statue of David and The Madonna of Humility. However, music and drama had the same degree of influence just as art had on its people and other nations. Music has been known to play a major role in society since the beginning of the Middle Ages. For example, Andrea Amati who had lived from the ages of 1500 until 1577, laid the basis of violin making. The art of drama had originated in Greece but it was culturally diffused into the empire of Rome. It s main ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 31. Summary Of Sproul Plaza By Krzsztof Pomian Krzsztof Pomian discusses the relation between usefulness and value that might be seen to contradict what we typically think barriers, such as the one found of Sproul Plaza represent. He states that, the more an object is attributed meaning, the less the interest which is taken in its usefulness (Pomian 32). What Pomian does not address, however, is the idea of implicating an item to be both useful and valuable. He believes that when an item is used it deteriorates the value of the object. The barriers set up on Sproul Plaza contradict this notion in the sense that they provided both value and use for the police officers because they were able channel the crowd in a way deemed by the police to be safe. Not only did the police officers believe that the barriers were valued but before some students touched the barricades, they would look around to see if anyone was watching because they believed that there was value within the object they were about to touch and did not want to get in trouble. Students have inherently learned that these barricades instill power and value because of previous events where these barriers were also present. Through a coordinated effort, RSA worked with law enforcement, the intelligence community, and other commercial entities. RSA s actions stand in contrast to many corporations that do not acknowledge breaches of sensitive information systems for fear of alarming shareholders and exposing the corporation to lawsuits (Gross, 2011). Even when evidence points to nation state involvement (most often China), many companies still refuse to acknowledge breaches. The fear of offending the Chinese and jeopardizing their share of that country s exploding markets is reason enough to remain quiet (Gross). Despite mounting evidence, the U.S. government, for its part, has been fecklessly circumspect in calling out the Chinese (Gross). Incident Recovery Recovery after the breach at RSA was not limited to the RSA environment. Due to the widespread implementation of RSA tokens across industry and government agencies (and its contractors) the breach had far reaching implications across multiple sectors. In an attempt to mitigate potential attacks on its customers environments related to the stolen information, RSA outlined nine steps customers could take to harden their IT infrastructures and reduce their chances of being breached (Gov InfoSecurity). While the recommended steps were followed by defense contractor Lockheed Martin, they were later breached in an attack related to the initial RSA breach ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

According to Pinel (1801) psychopathy is defined as persons with complete cognitive capacity but these persons experienced spontaneous and antisocial behavior. These persons suffered from mania without insanity. Concealment in the Twelfth Night Essay British Literature: Concealment in Twelfth Night Throughout Twelfth Night, concealment influences each character s life because it s essential to portray how falsehood can be amusing or agonizing before they can discover their identity in life. Therefore, the concept of concealment not only affects the characters mistaken identities and abilities to express true love, but it gives the story comedic and entertaining qualities. Furthermore, concealment portrayed throughout this story makes each character develop an identity with either showing cleverness or madness, while it also makes each character realize the principles towards obtaining love and truth. Also, she acquired the skill to bide her time, until the time was right, in case she reveal her true self or intentions. The disguise also prevents Viola from expressing her love for Orsino, it contributes to the dramatic ironies by causing complications of mistaken identity. Moreover, Viola cannot show her love for Orsino, the only way she can express them is in her soliloquies to the reader, this contributes to the dramatic ironies. For example, when Viola conveys to Orsino what Olivia told her concerning love by saying: A blank, my lord. She never told her love, But let concealment, like a worm i the bud, Feed on her damask cheek. She pined in thought, And with a green and yellow melancholy She sat like patience on a monument, Smiling at grief. Was not this love indeed? We men may say more, swear more, but indeed Our shows are more than will, for still we prove Much in our vows, but little in our love (2.4.108 115).
