Everyone has their own philosophy about the way we live our lives, and how we follow a certain path
to get to our destination. One s philosophy may be based on their religious beliefs, what they were
taught growing up, or both. I was raised Christian and many of the beliefs I have stems from my
Christian roots. I was always told God was the reason a person behaved a certain way or the devil.
Now that I am older, and mostly due to my college education, I see the world differently. Before
learning about the different theories in psychology, and the beliefs and techniques that come with
them, I had applied many to my own life before. I am spiritual and I believe that many people are born
with destinies. I believe we are all on a path predetermined for us and that we take many detours along
the way. If we take the wrong detour, whether it be days, months, or years, something drastic will
happen to get us back on the right path. When we make friends, they either work out, or something
awful happens that ends the friendship. Once the air has been cleared, one can realize that a certain

On Friday September 22nd, I traveled downtown to King Street to attend the evening show of North
by Northwest, directed by Simon Phillips, at the Royal Alexandra Theatre. As I approached the
theatre, it stood out amongst the busyness of Toronto streets due to a large, vibrant red poster that
immediately caught the eye allowing for no mistake to be made about where the show was located.
The roof above twinkled with hundreds of light bulbs, making any audience member feel the sense of
glamour as they entered the building. The box office, although dimly light, had a friendly and

the actions being performed such as using the telephone, riding in an elevator, arriving at a train stop,

spotlight was used to appear on each actor as they spoke. This made it clear to the audience where

The controversial topic of video game addiction is what I have decided to focus my multi genre
research project on. Although a multitude of people do not even know of the existence of such a
problem in today s society, I can assure you that this is becoming an increasingly greater problem
effecting people around the world of all ages. Through my multi genre project, I intend on proving the
uselessness and detrimental qualities of playing video games, and I am going to explore some healthy

Most of my research was done online, and I found Wikipedia in particular to be a very useful source
for me. All of my online sources were found thanks to Google. I found my book by looking up video
games on the online library website, and it happened to be one of the only results that pertained to my
research topic of video game addiction. Some of the questions I asked throughout my searching were ?
Do violent video games have an impact on the mind?? and ?Are video games addictive??. I asked
many of the same questions while searching for information that I asked before starting my research.
Throughout my endeavors in discovering more about video games, I did not run into any obstacles
because I already knew enough about video games to know what I needed to look up. I would have to
say my greatest success in finding research about video games has to be when I found the book
Playstation Nation: Protect your child from video game addiction by Olivia and Kurt Bruner. This
book contained so much information that opened my eyes to so many more topics that I could delve
into and incorporate into my research project. It also helped me to go cold turkey against any future
video games.
After reading this book, my whole research topic changed. At first, I was going to do my research
topic on the impact of violent video games, but I decided to go on impulse and make a
