3. The Tell-Tale Heart Thesis
Research Essay: The Tell Tale Heart by Edgar Allen Poe
The Tell Tale Heart, by Edgar Allen Poe, is a story of a nauseating death. Murder as an upshot of an
eye; literally. Incongruous actions are taken by Poe when he determines the fate of a man he claims
love upon, all because He had the eye of a vulture (Poe), and Poe plots the death of this old man. As
noted in Short Story Criticism, it s stated that; What precipitated the narrator s insanity and the
subsequent murder was his irrational obsession with the old man s so called Evil Eye. The narrator
freely admits to his auditors that this was his Primmum mobile: yes, it was this! He had the eye of a
vulture a pale blue eye, with a film over it. Whenever it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Usually these sensorial illusions involve voices which the victim perceives as originating outside
his/her head, but occasionally the auditory hallucinations are of sounds rather than voices. Poe s
narrator insists that his disease had sharpened [his] senses not destroyed not dulled them, and that
Above all was the sense of hearing acute. Yet when he goes on to add I heard all things in the heaven
and in the earth. I heard many things in hell, his absurdly grandiose claim encourages us to suspect
related claims he makes regarding his auditory capacity (Zimmerman 279).
Insinuating that Poe is in fact a paranoid schizophrenic. Catatonia is another symptom of
schizophrenia displayed by Poe. When he had been spying on the old man, Poe states I kept quite still
and said nothing. For a whole hour I did not move a muscle (Poe), mimicking the behavior of
catatonia; the immobile state of a person often caused by psychiatric disorders, sometimes in odd
positions. Much of the criteria that needs to be met to be diagnosed with schizophrenia is extant within
Poe. One of the leading symptoms present with Edgar Allan Poe is his erratic behavior shown
existentially in the following

4. Black Harvest By Bob Connolly And Robin Anderson
The 1992 film Black Harvest was directed and produced by Bob Connolly and Robin Anderson.
Filmed in the highlands of Papua, New Guinea, it follows a half white, half African man Joe Leahy
attempting to manage a coffee plantation that he collectively owns with the local Ganiga tribe. Leahy
employs Ganiga tribesmen and women, giving them 40% of the earnings while he receives 60%.
During the film it is learned that coffee prices have plummeted, giving Leahy no choice but to cut
wages and face the tribes people s response.
The film portrays the tragedy within attempting to find cohesion in two completely opposing
lifestyles, as one is seemingly attempting to overpower the other. While Joe Leahy represents the
colonial businessman, his Ganiga partners, enthralled in their traditions and choosing to stay devoted
to their duties in local tribal warfare, remain rooted in a lifestyle much different than that of Joe Leahy.
Black Harvest evokes an understanding of the implications of colonialism that can be most deeply
seen through the montage of many short scenes, with few moments of long held interview type shots.
As the sound of the film is completely diegetic, everything that is heard is in direct correlation with
what is being filmed, this being broken only once at the end of the film, where sobs can be heard from
a woman aside from what is in direct camera view, symbolic of the film s downtrodden conclusion.
The issue of Leahy s attempt to overpower the Ganiga tribe s

5. What Does Habit 2 Mean
Stephen R. Covey defines the phrase in Habit 2: begin with the end in mind as beginning each day,
task, or project with a clear vision of your desired direction and destination, and then continues by
activating your proactive influences to make these things happen. He defines the phrase in Habit 3 put
first things first as organizing and managing time and events according to the personal priorities
established in Habit 2. In the paper I will explain how these two habits effect will help me perform in
my internship, my personal and professional efforts, and my future career values.
INTERNSHIP PERFORMANCE
Habit 2
Having the ability to plan ahead or begin with the end in mind will play a great part in my internship
experience. I can make a series of correct short term decisions in order to achieve the long term goal.
For example, if my supervisor gives me a task with a deadline, this will be the long term goal.
Keeping this in mind, I will be able to apply the necessary actions (a series short term decisions.) After
reading this habit, I have learned that I can create a plan to increase my success. ... Show more content

everyday activities towards achieving the goals I set for myself. Being a proactive person that thinks
in terms of I will do rather than simply I can do. Maintaining a positive can do attitude helps me with
my decision making during life in and out of work. This culmination of habits as described by Covey
will be useful in shaping my career and how I approach each day. By combining a proactive attitude

4. Made To The Proper Promisee The tender has to be made to the proper promisee. Tender made to an
authorised agent would be valid but tender made to a stranger would obviously be invalid. 5.
Reasonable Opportunity It should be provided to the promisee to inspect the quality and quantity of
the type of goods agreed upon and to satisfy himself that they are according to the terms of the
contract.
Two more essentials can also be considered :
6. Person Giving Tender Must be Willing to Perform The person giving the tender must be willing and
capable to perform the whole of what he was bound by the contract to do. 7. Tender Of Money Tender
of money should always be made in the legal tender money and not in any other form
If these essentials are fulfilled then one can safely conclude that a tender of performance has been
made.
Once the promisor makes a valid tender of performance, it is then for the promisee to accept the
performance. If the tender of performance is rejected by the other party, the promisor is not
responsible for non performance and is entitled to sue the promise for breach of the contract.
7. Relevance In Indian Contract Law
The Indian Contract Act, 1872, recognises tender of performance and its important role in Contract
Law. Section 38 mentions situations when tender of performance is not accepted by the promisee. It
states

8. Jacques Picard Research Paper
Jacques Piccard would be the first person to the bottom of the Marianas Trench, the deepest point on
the ocean floor. This diving bell, the Trieste, was his invention, but he had only gone down to five km
off the coast of Italy. Now he, and Lt. Don Walsh, had to go descend nearly eleven. What would take
minutes to fall in air took them five hours. Every ten meters, the pressure increased one atmosphere.
Leading biologists knew nothing could live in such harsh conditions. As they descended, the light
from above faded. They could still hear the surface, but knew as their spotlight turned on that soon all
sounds would cease. Nearly down, a crack shook them from their stupor. Nothing seemed to be
wrong, so they continued. When the submarine settled on the surface, it wasn t what they expected:
through the stirred up clay, they saw a flatfish and new species of shrimp, discoveries to be disputed
for years to come. But when Jacques Piccard and Lt. Walsh discovered a crack in the porthole, they
were forced to ascend after an only twenty minute stay. The continuing project of ocean exploration is

Today the use of drones has moved beyond military and recreational use and has emerged as a
trending topic of conversation within both the private sector, commercial, and military realms

pilots taking non traditional routes to achieve pilot certification. Military application has changed the
landscape of foreign policy has augmented our military s reach across the globe with the use of drones

Potential airline pilots must accumulate up to 1500 hours of flight time to reach the minimum level of

simulated flight time is all that is required due to the fact that drone pilots do not ever actually have

in anything other than a simulator. Flight controls for an unmanned aerial drone are often based miles

12. The History Of Data Encryption Technology Essay
This paper discusses the history of data encryption technology. It also touches on several aspects of
data encryption technology. Furthermore, an attempt will be made to answer several key questions like
what is data encryption technology (DET). It will also detail some of the history of DET, how DET
affects the lives of people in America, and some of the future implications of this technology. DET can
be defined as the translation or changing of information/data into some form of a secret code through a
process of encryption (Merriam Webster Dictionary, 2016). This process of encryption is key to DET
because it requires the writers and readers of such encrypted information to be able to decode that data
using a secret key, or some sort of password, or algorithm to decrypt the originally encrypted code
(Sans Institute, page 4, 2001). Believe it or not, there is a long history behind data encryption
technology (Sans Institute, page 4, 2001). As a matter of fact, the history of DET goes way back in
time (Pfleeger, page 3, 2002). For example, around 900 BC, an Egyptian scribe used non standard
hieroglyphs in an inscription. (Sans Institutue, page 6, 2001). Since those ancient times until now,
there have been great advancements in DET, and its applications. Hundreds of years later, Assyrian
merchants in the 1500 BC time frame were using pieces of a flat stone with carved inscriptions on
them called intaglio in trading transactions (Sans Institutue, page 8,

14. The Journey By Mary Oliver
How do authors generate ideas when writing? Many authors shape their works by reflecting on
occurrences in their lives. While some utilize positive occurrences, more often than not, poets
incorporate unpleasant experiences in their compositions. Mary Oliver exhibits this technique by
incorporating her tough childhood into her poetry. ...with words, I could build a world I could live in. I
had a very dysfunctional family, and a very hard childhood. So I made a world out of words. And it
was my salvation (Shriver). As a result of her sufferings, Oliver also turned to nature for inspiration.

The Journey is one long stanza with no clear rhyme pattern, and the lengths of the lines vary, thus
creating a dramatic effect. Oliver integrates both short and long lines in this poem, which again
reflects adversities in life. Oliver s word choice is intentional. She incorporates repetition in her
poetry, especially in The Journey, to emphasize the contrast in her thoughts. The word though is
repeated four times at the beginning of the poem, though the voices around you/ kept shouting/their
bad advice , though the whole house/ began to tremble , though the wind pried/with its stiff fingers ,
and though their melancholy/was terrible ( The Journey 3 7, 14 15, 17 18). The word though is used to
begin a line, creating a negative image. As the poem progresses, the word determined replaces the
word though. Oliver repeats this word two times, determined to do/the only thing you could

In this case, you should always perform regular maintenance check ups on your car. After all, it is
more prone to wear and tear and constant exposure to heat, dirt, and other road contaminants can
cause your car parts to deteriorate faster.
Doing regular inspections on your car will allow you to address any new issues as soon as possible.

rhetorical devices to build a strong speech. Nelson Mandela s speech Apartheid has no future is
persuasive based on its use of ethos, logos, and pathos. 1 1 1 1 1 1 1
Ethos is built through Mandela s character. Nelson Mandela was imprisoned in 1964 for treason,
stemming from his activities with the banned African National Congress (ANC) (Sawinski). When he
was twenty four years old Mandela joined the national African Congress. The ANC fought for civil
rights for black South Africans. During his time in the ANC Mandela was a part of a peaceful protest.

prisoners (Mandela) This statement is an example of logos because these are realistic goals/ requests

apartheid. Negotiations on the dismantling of apartheid will have to address the overwhelming

18. Different Theories Of Psychology, And Beliefs And...
Everyone has their own philosophy about the way we live our lives, and how we follow a certain path
to get to our destination. One s philosophy may be based on their religious beliefs, what they were
taught growing up, or both. I was raised Christian and many of the beliefs I have stems from my
Christian roots. I was always told God was the reason a person behaved a certain way or the devil.
Now that I am older, and mostly due to my college education, I see the world differently. Before
learning about the different theories in psychology, and the beliefs and techniques that come with
them, I had applied many to my own life before. I am spiritual and I believe that many people are born
with destinies. I believe we are all on a path predetermined for us and that we take many detours along
the way. If we take the wrong detour, whether it be days, months, or years, something drastic will
happen to get us back on the right path. When we make friends, they either work out, or something
awful happens that ends the friendship. Once the air has been cleared, one can realize that a certain
person was leading us down the wrong path. The way we live life is largely influenced by the
company we keep and our upbringing. I have friends who were born in corrupt neighborhoods to
parents who were on drugs and they went down the same trail as them. Their environment played a
large part in how they chose to live their lives. Some people have a biological predisposition for drugs,

19. The Components Of The Gas Suspension Preheater
The key component of the gas suspension preheater is the cyclone. A cyclone is a conical vessel into
which a dust bearing gas stream is passed tangentially. This produces a vortex within the vessel. The
gas leaves the vessel through a co axial vortex finder . The solids are thrown to the outside edge of the
vessel by centrifugal action, and leave through a valve in the vertex of the cone.
Cyclones were originally used to clean up the dust laden gases leaving simple dry process kilns. If,
instead, the entire feed of rawmix is encouraged to pass through the cyclone, it is found that a very
efficient heat exchange takes place: the gas is efficiently cooled, hence producing less waste of heat to
the atmosphere, and the rawmix is efficiently heated. This efficiency is further increased if a number
of cyclones are connected in series
The number of cyclones stages used in practice varies from 1 to 6. Energy, in the form of fan power, is
required to draw the gases through the string of cyclones, and at a string of 6 cyclones, the cost of the
added fan power needed for an extra cyclone exceeds the efficiency advantage gained.
ROTARY KILN :THE HEART OF CEMENT MANUFACTURING
The kiln is a cylindrical vessel, inclined slightly to the horizontal, which is rotated slowly about its
axis. The material to be processed is fed into the upper end of the cylinder. As the kiln rotates, material
gradually moves down towards the lower end, and may undergo a certain amount of stirring

22. Royal Alexandra Theatre
On Friday September 22nd, I traveled downtown to King Street to attend the evening show of North
by Northwest, directed by Simon Phillips, at the Royal Alexandra Theatre. As I approached the
theatre, it stood out amongst the busyness of Toronto streets due to a large, vibrant red poster that
immediately caught the eye allowing for no mistake to be made about where the show was located.
The roof above twinkled with hundreds of light bulbs, making any audience member feel the sense of
glamour as they entered the building. The box office, although dimly light, had a friendly and
respectful atmosphere with two kind ladies happy to help each person who entered their doors. The

A variety of classic sound effects replicated the projection on screen in order to specify even further
the actions being performed such as using the telephone, riding in an elevator, arriving at a train stop,
and driving in a car. The sound effects created a connection to a more traditional sense of theatre
amongst the new technological addition of projectors. With the busyness of the opening scene, a
spotlight was used to appear on each actor as they spoke. This made it clear to the audience where
they should be looking and it lessened the overwhelming feeling of multiple people being on stage at
once. After the opening, the actors took off their own set pieces making for a quick and smooth
transition into the next scene. The cage surrounding the stage was diversely used as walls, doors, and
even an elevator. A separate cage piece was often lowered from above to divide the stage in half from
left to right when the whole stage did not need to be used. I specifically admired that many of the set
pieces had versatile purposes, such as the couch also being used as the back seat of a taxi or the front
seat of a car as other cast members pushed it around on stage in order to create the sense of driving . In
addition, the hotel lobby walls were reversible flats that were able to be living room bookcases in a

After evaluating Best Electronics website using three different usability evaluation methods which are
observations, questionnaires and heuristics evaluation.
These usability evaluation methods allowed us to recognize the major flaws of the website, also
assisted to identify the key features and aspects of the website which have to be improved.
The first aspect needs to be changed within the website is the colors and the font size used throughout
the entire website. Based on the heuristics evaluation we performed, the font size used in the website
is big, which makes reading the content uncomfortable, also there are many colors used in the website
without any professionalism , which led to make the website unattractive, also the color ... Show more

It is one of the biggest flaws of the website, for this reason it is essential to create enough space
between the paragraphs and images so the viewer has space to breathe, minimize the paragraphs size
of the content, divide large blocks of information into more manageable groups where natural and
appropriate, avoid content clutter especially on the homepage, present information in more precise and
ordered way to minimize the scrolling required, and finally, organize the content with respect to the
principles of contrast, repetition, alignment and proximity. All these steps must be taken to accomplish
three of our usability goals (effective home page, Clarity of the interface, Motivating website), as well
as to meet two of the Windows Interface Guidelines, aesthetics and simplicity .
Another aspect is the lack of menu, quick links and search engine, based on our observations, users
were not able to find different kinds of information they were looking for, and the reason for that is
because the website does not offer any menu or quick links to allow users to navigate quickly,
additionally, the website does not have a search engine which allows users to find products quickly, so

24. Beatrice In Much Ado About Nothing
Abstract: This paper deals with the character analysis of Beatrice from Much Ado About Nothing. The
story is set in Messina. This is the story of culmination of a chaste woman, Hero. Though Beatrice is
supposed to be a supporting character in the play, she however steals the show. Her intelligence
combined with her softness makes her the most awesome character of the play. She sees the
inappropriateness of the world and instead of being a silent observer, she chooses to raise her voice
against it, which is a sure sign of wisdom.
Introduction: The character of Beatrice in the play Much Ado About Nothing is one of the strongest
female characters of Shakespeare. In the play, Beatrice is the niece of Leanato, the Governor of

We can clearly understand this when, while talking about Hero getting married, Antonio, Leonato s
brother says to Hero Well niece, I trust you will be rul d by your father . (ActII.Scene1, 35 40).
Throughout the play, we understand that Hero is a woman solely constructed by the norms of the
society and family. She does not have her own say. Throughout the play she is being suppressed by the
societal norms. Shakespeare has structured the character of Hero on the lines of a traditional
Elizabethan woman, silent and dominated. Through the character of Hero Shakespeare has tried to
portray the piteous state of Elizabethan women. However, Beatrice was a little different. She openly
objects male dominance. She was not ready to submit herself to male dominance and authority. While
talking to her uncle Leanato about her marriage, Beatrice clearly says, Not till god make men of some
other metal than earth: would it not grieve a woman to be overmastered with a piece of valiant dust, to
make an account of her life to a clod of wayward marl? No, uncle, I ll none. Adam s sons are my

The increasing presence and responsibilities of university administrators place them as important
agents in the competition for authority on faculty hiring practices. Administrators are in some ways
positioned hierarchically above professors in terms of financial decision making in the academic field,

department. In cases like Brown University and many other large American universities,
administrators may have final say over whether a faculty hiring can occur, but rarely have authority to

26. Social Media Into Traditional Marketing And Advertising...
Abstract
Effective marketing and advertising strategy is a necessity in order to have successful saturation in the
market. There are numerous marketing strategies at the disposal of companies to use, including, but
not limited to social media. Trends in social media have grown exponentially over the past few years
and many companies nowadays are utilizing this marketing strategy to their advantage. This paper will
focus on leading edge trends in integrating social media into traditional marketing and advertising
campaigns. I will also discuss recommendations for incorporating social media into the market
segments of Mini Laps that we are targeting, as well as how I will measure the results of these
recommendations.

It is very important to choose a marketing strategy that will reach your target market. An appropriate
example of this would be if Microsoft is trying to market their Xbox One; they would not want to
advertise in Cosmopolitan magazine. It s apparent that the target market for video games and video
game consoles is probably not those women (and maybe some men) who read Cosmopolitan
magazine. A more suitable choice for Microsoft would be PC World or even Sports Illustrated.
However, it should be noted that not every product in this world is that simple to formulate a
marketing strategy for. There are quite a few marketing outlets and strategies at a company s disposal
nowadays, including magazines, social media, TV, radio, and newspapers. Up until recent, companies
made the most use of television, newspapers, and magazines. However, huge advancements and
innovations in technology have opened up new doors when it comes to a brand new marketing
strategy: social media. This has become the newest and most popular method of marketing strategy
that companies nowadays are employing to fully comprehend their target markets. Social media offers
a very large space to exploit for the purposes of market saturation and brand awareness. Most people
actively use some type of social media whether that is Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, or Instagram.

Discussion of How Christians Can Put Their View of Racism into Action
All of the Christian teachings on racism have originally started from the teachings of the scripture. It
is because of this that Christians are aware that they have a responsibility to bring peace and
reconciliation. However not all Christians take up this responsibility, maybe this is due to the fact that
most people today go with the majority and rarely speak out as an individual.
Some people however have stood up for themselves and spoken out in an attempt to gain justice
without using violent methods to prove their points, they are known as Christian Pacifists. There are

One of Desmond Tutu s most famous quotes was: I am puzzled about which Bible people are reading

when God rescued the slaved from Egypt he led them to freedom in the Promised Land.
Politics have lead in the past to the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer, and when this

Christian teaching.
Like Desmond Tutu, Trevor Huddleston also stated that Christianity was totally opposed to the system

ScopesTips On Buying A Spotting Scope You may have been told that seeking out a spotting scope for
birding, hunting, and other wildlife viewing and observing is your best bet if you truly want to
maximize your outdoor experience. Spotting scopes are similar to both binoculars and telescopes,
combining the convenient portability of the standard binoculars, with the longer range viewing
capabilities of the star gazing telescope. Spotting scopes can give you the high definition
magnification capabilities required from longer distances, and so are the perfect optical device for
your birding or hunting adventure. However, sometimes it can be quite overwhelming trying to find
the best spotting scope, sifting through technical jargon and industry terms. That s why we have
outlined the most important aspects of the spotting scope, definitions of specifications, and

29. Review Of The Hound Of Baskerville
Hound of Baskerville
In the world of detective shows and movies there are six simple rules. The first rule is the crime must
be significant. Second, the detective must be memorable. Third, the criminal must be a worthy
opponent. Fourth, the clues must be made available to the viewer. Fifth, the suspect must appear early
in the story, and sixth, the solution must be reasonable and possible. In BBC s Sherlock episode, The
Hound of Baskerville, it shows all six of these rule extremely well. In the show, rule one is revealed a
little later in the story. After Sherlock got back from whatever he was doing he was itching for a new
case and the only offer he had was the mystery of the missing rabbit that glowed in the dark. Then
there was a doorbell and walks in Henry Knight with a interesting case for Sherlock. Henry explains
that his father was slaughtered in front of him as a child and was convinced that the monster was
created in Baskerville. This leaded straight to a murder mystery case, making the crime significant.
Rule number two is pretty obvious since it s a Sherlock Holmes TV show making him the memorable
detective, but what he does makes him even more memorable than just being the main character in the
TV show. He is brilliant and can solve cases like no one else. He picks up clues that no one normally
sees. In this episode, he connects the glowing rabbit case with the hound of Baskerville case. He also
picks up on things like when Henry Knight said hound instead of

Throughout the play of Macbeth, the aura of darkness and horror is often presented to the audience in
order to give the atmosphere within the play a dark and tragic tone. In the play, the nature of evil was
the theme used by the Shakespeare in Macbeth. He used certain action filled images to introduce
deception and horror throughout the play. The characters in Macbeth often brought about the images
of blood, darkness, and evil. Many scenes in the play gave the audience hints of occurring
supernatural events, which in the end would lead to the fall of many, like Macbeth, who was nothing

33. Designing An Interactive Model For Finding The Optimal...
Abstract
The motivation behind this paper is to propose a new approach called objective factorizable approach
based on a decomposition algorithm in an interactive model for finding the optimal solution to multi
level large scale quadratic programming problem (MLLSQPP), in which the objective function can be
factorized into two single linear objective functions and has block angular structure of the constraints.
What s more, the author advances the concepts of satisfactoriness as the upper level decision makers
preferences until the preferred solution is come to. The bi section method is suggested as an essential
solution method to assess these upper level decision makers preferences precisely. Finally, in order to
exhibit the proficiency of the proposed model, an illustrative example is provided.
Keywords
Decomposition algorithm; multilevel programming; large scale problem; quadratic programming;
bisection method.
1. Introduction
Multi Level Programming (MLP) problems are an arrangement of overlapped hierarchical
optimization problems with numerous decision makers (DMs) over a solitary feasible region. MLP
techniques relegate each DM a unique objective, a set of decision variables, and a set of common
constraints that influence all DMs. DMs make decision in turn or meanwhile to optimize their
objective functions. [1, 2, 3, 4]
The vast majority of the optimization problems emerging in real world applications incorporate vast
numbers of variables and constraints, which

Assignment #3: iPremier
BADM 350 1. How well did the iPremier Company perform during the seventy five minute attack? If

Normally, a company would follow emergency procedures while dealing with crises, but in iPremier s
case, there was no emergency procedure available. Under these circumstances, and with no prior
experience with security breaches, I believe the company performed well. Bob Turley communicated
well with the other members of the company, but if I were in his shoes, I would have been more

iPremier s procedures were absolutely deficient. They had an outdated emergency manual that
employees couldn t find, and almost couldn t access the data center. Additional measures they could
have implemented long before the attack include revising the emergency procedure and making sure
all employees know how to follow it. 3. Now the attack has ended, what can the iPremier Company do
to prepare for another such attack?
While I mentioned revising the emergency procedure in the previous question, there are other ways to
prepare as well. iPremier could implement a method to escalate unsatisfactory service from Qdata to
higher level management; if they switch to a data center with open lines of communication, the next
crisis would be easier to handle, or it might even be completely averted. 4. In the aftermath of the
attack, what would you be worried about? What actions would you recommend?
I would be worried about three issues, including the identity and motivation of the hacker, the amount
of data that was taken from iPremier, and public disclosure. Since Bob didn t pull the plug, there is a
log documenting what happened during the attack I would start by analyzing the log and trying to
solve the first two issues. Public disclosure is a legal matter, yet it affect thee public image of

Similar to the Galapagos finches, Anolis lizards of the Caribbean islands have evolved into an
extremely diverse species, and it can be assumed that these series of species all diverged from a
common ancestor many years ago. Therefore, biologists have developed two contrasting theories to
explain the evolutionary relationships between the types of Caribbean Anolis lizards. Either the
ecomorphs all evolved on one, large island and then split onto different islands, or the ecomorphs
evolved repeatedly and independently from each other on separate islands. Based on the data, the
latter is most heavily supported that speciation of the Anolis lizards occurred on different islands and
from common ancestors independent from each other. Perhaps the most striking evidence is the
patterns in the cladograms of the organisms. If the first claim were true, both the origin and the type of

For the ecomorphs to evolve all on one island and then separate involves the movement of lizard
species possibly across expanses of open ocean. Depending on the time frame, the Caribbean islands
may have been one unit of land that later divided from the whole due to tectonic plates, but without
prior knowledge, the examiner may assume that the relatively small lizards must have needed to swim
across perhaps miles of ocean. This factor makes Claim 1 nearly irrational, when combined with the
data of the cladograms. For Claim 2, however, if the Anole species of lizard evolved through
adaptation of a common ancestor on each of the islands, it is plausible that lizards physically similar to
each other could appear on each of the islands individually. With similar climates, the environments
and landscape of each of the islands are equally diverse, creating the opportunity for the lizards to

37. Health, The Elementary Human Right Essay
Introduction
Health the Elementary Human Right
Health is declared as a basic human right by the universal declaration of human rights in 1948, stating
that everyone has the right to a standard of living adequate for the health and well being of oneself and
one s family, including food, clothing, housing, and medical care. Endowment of health is a
fundamental good and a moral issue because it provides opportunity to pursue life goals, reduces pain
and suffering, prevents premature loss of life, and provides information needed to plan lives (Jacobson
and Mathur, 2010). However, it is not later than three decades ago that health is placed high on
international agenda. This international agenda has strongly passed on into almost all countries after
the report of the Commission on Macroeconomics and Health, that investing in health leads to
economic development. This reports emphasized health as a resource for everyday life and as driver of
economy of nation (WHO, 2001).
What is a Health Policy?
Health policy can be formally defined as the broad statement of goals, objectives and means that
create the framework for activity. It includes what governments decide to do or not to do. (Buse et al.,
2005). Health policies are expected to offer methods and opportunities to develop collaboration among
different sectors, organizations and people to attain a common goal of promoting health (WHO, 1986,
