Honesty, Honesty And Honesty
Honesty, honesty, honesty. That s all we, as evolving adolescents in society, hear from our parents,
teachers, and coaches. The demonstration of honesty among all people of all ages, simultaneous
along with the performance of integrity, compassion, and other powerful traits, is one of the most
influential and difficult Laws of Life to endure. Mahatma Gandhi put this into words wonderfully,
suggesting that, It is difficult, but not impossible, to conduct strictly honest business. The Laws of
Life, honesty, in particular, are not only difficult to attain, but are also the foundation stones of a
functional and upbuilding society. Honesty is a valuable character trait that benefits both the one
displaying it as well as his or her... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After that day, I considered honesty one of my biggest priorities. Come today, I have been in a
much improved peace of mind, and have connected with my brother much more. Honesty is not
always easy, for no one ever wants to get in trouble or let someone down. Nevertheless, there is
no greater feeling than laying the truth off your back. Because of Drew, I have been able to
exert honesty, which comes with other traits, such as compassion and bravery, in my daily life.
Although I admit I am not perfect, nor remotely close to it, I do believe, from the bottom of my
heart, that honesty is the best policy. Honesty is considered a Law of Life because it is a
propitious and positive principle that guides behavior towards a truly successful life. Mary Kay
Ash, an extremely successful businesswoman, exemplarily fostered honesty and trust in her life.
She wrote, Honesty is the cornerstone of all success, without which confidence and ability to
perform shall cease to exist. Mary shows, clearly, how honesty is a prominent Law of Life and
how it is a necessary principle to follow in order to achieve success. Although dishonest people
may have immediate success in whatever field they are in, his or her mistake will reveal itself in
the end game. People who exert honesty and virtue, on the other hand, are respected and end up
successful and contented in the end game. These powerful people also have an

Does the Final Chapter of Bronte s Jane Eyre Fit with the...
The final chapter s of Bronte s Jane Eyre have been a subject of discussion since it s first
publication. Many say the the ending does not fit and other argue that it does. There is a lot of
evidence pointing to the latter. The conclusion reveals the fate of Mr. Rochester and Jane, Adele,
and of St. John. All of the endings, a mixture of both happy and tragic, to fit with the entire story
and can explained because of the Victorian era. This essay will argue that the conclusion of this
novel, more specifically that Jane does go back to Mr. Rochester, is extremely fitting to both the
plot and the essence of the novel. Many people have an issue with the ending because of the fate
of Mr. Rochester. They feel him being disfigured and blind is... Show more content on

Jane still has her independence even though she goes back to him. Not only does the
relationship even out, the biggest way Jane keeps her independence and her character traits is
that she chooses to go back to Rochester. She sets aside her brain and uses her heart fully in
making the decision. It was my time to assume ascendency. My powers were in play and in force,
(301). She went back to Rochester and married him because she wanted to. She did not need to
marry Rochester for his money or his social status, she married him because she wanted to. One of
the biggest themes of Jane Eyre is the ideal woman and the struggle between choosing to be
passionate or suppressing it. At the very end, it is most fitting for the character to develop in
such a way that she chooses to be passionate. During the time of the novel as well, women were
meant to suppress their wants and desires but the novel is very ahead of it s time. It s showing
that it is perfectly alright to marry for love and marriage won t make you lose your independence.
The happy ending for Mr. Rochester and Jane are not the only fitting thing about the ending.
AdГЁle s fate is also very fitting for the plot and the English Victorian era. There was always a
parallel between little AdГЁle and Jane when she was younger. Both were orphans, and both were
eventually sent away to a terribly run school. It would only make sense, that Jane, having gone
through this, would

Pursuing A Career In Nursing
I am pursuing a career in Nursing at Northwest Iowa Community College. After, I am going to
transfer to a four year college to obtain my BSN. Then, I plan to receive my masters in Nursing

main reason that I am so passionate about the medical field is because of my grandmother. I spent
many hours in my local nursing home visiting my grandmother. Also, I enjoyed not only visiting
with just my grandmother but all the other residents, too. I felt like I had made a difference in
their lives. The feeling that I was filled with after leaving the nursing home was incredible. I had

The Importance Of The Bronze Age Collapse
Between 1,250 and 1,150 B.C.E, there were many factors that contributed to the Bronze Age
Collapse, allowing the area near the Fertile Crescent and throughout the Mediterranean to transition
into the Iron Age. Not only does the emerging Iron Age bring about the development of advancing
technologies and discoveries, but it also provides opportunities for new societies to replace the
fallen civilizations. Understanding the strengths of these rising societies can reveal what it took to
be successful in the context of this time and place. Similarly, looking at the cultures of these
empires can point out the importance of this period, in the way that religious, social, and political
elements are carried on, preserved, and remain relevant in an entirely new environment. The
combination of technological, environmental, political, military, and economic elements worked
together to prompt the Bronze Age Collapse and eventually the downfall of the Hittite and Egyptian
Empires. One of the more obvious characteristics differentiating the Bronze and Iron Ages is the
sort of metal being most commonly used to construct technologies such as various weapons and
tools, as the respective names imply. Historians believe that long periods of drought in the Eastern
Mediterranean and in the area of the Fertile Crescent, along with destructive seismic activity near
ancient Greece, led to damage to places of agricultural importance. Being unable to grow their own
harvests, this may have contributed

The Invention Of The Automobile Industry
The automobile industry is said to have its beginnings dating to the 19th century. Gottieb Daimler
and Wilhelm Maybach, of Germany, fitted their engine into a stagecoach in 1886 (Kindersley,
2011, 10). They were both successful at creating the first four wheeled, gas engine vehicle. It
reached a top speed of ten miles per hour. Each engine was still being fitted into stagecoaches
(Kindersley, 2011, 10). The industrial revolution introduced a wide array of new ideas for the
automobile. The ideas ranged from air cooled engines, single cylinder engines, steam powered
engines, electric cars, to a vehicle with a sliding gear transmission (Kindersley, 11, 2011). Other
ideas included overhead cam engines, and the introduction of the gearbox.

For the industry this became only the beginning. Many other innovative designs to the engine that
were introduced during this time are still in use today. In 1926, both Daimler Mercedes merged to
become Daimler Benz AG. This was as a result of the recession during that time which forced many
companies into joint ventures. Their cars were marketed under the name of Mercedes Benz.
During the 1930 s, the world was gripped by the second World War which saw the industry,
especially in Germany, being used to support ongoing war efforts again. The cars of Mercedes
were adored by the Third Reich and the cars were being used by motor racing as well
(Kindersley,15, 2011). This enabled the company more exposure later on. The 1930 s were hailed
as a time of great challenge especially with the onslaught of The Great Depression.
The world was met by the introduction of the station wagon and pick up truck in the 1940 s. The
station wagon was a reintroduced Land Rover, . . . the Land Rover s wider appeal led to demand
for a more civilized vehicle the 7 seater Station Wagon fulfilled that brief, (Kindersley,113, 2011).
The station wagon was designed as a working vehicle and that could carry a lot of people. The pick
up truck was unveiled by The Ford Motor Company and named The F Series. This became most
successful vehicles

Ansoff Matrix Essay
We will now analyze the corporate level strategy of Patanjali using the Ansoff Product and Market
Growth Matrix. There are four components of Ansoff Matrix market penetrations, market
development, product development and diversification and we will discuss each of them in detail
below.
a)Market Penetration: It focuses on expanding sales of the existing product in firms existing
market. This can be achieved by a combination of pricing strategy , sales promotion and marketing
and the objective of the firm is to be the dominant player in that market by driving out the
competitors and increasing the loyal customer base. This would make it less risky and require less

This strategy requires the firm to develop products appealing to existing markets and the business
will have to develop new competencies. This strategy emphasis on research and development,
market research on customer needs and innovative ideas. This usually happens if the firm has a
huge customer base and the market for existing product is reaching saturation and thus market
penetration strategy could not be applied. Patanjali in its part focused on quality, purity and
affordability and the followers of Baba Ramdev formed its core set of customers. Patanjali
started making amla (gooseberry) juice which happened accidently. A group of farmers don t
know what to do with excel gooseberries as the price was very low and there was not much
demand. At that Patanjali introduced this new drink Amla Juice to the market which was an
instant hit. The introduction of new product was little riskier as they didn t knew how the product
would be accepted by the customers, but after the drink became hit, they introduced various
varieties of juices likes Aloe Vera Juice, Hing digestive golis and also personal care products like
shikakai, sherbets and spices that Indians otherwise shopped at gramudyog outlets. They also plan
to introduce other products from baby care to garments and from bio fertilisers to healthy food, and

The Human Face Action Recognition System
Abstract In this paper we implement the Human Face Action Recognition System in Wireless
Sensor Network. Detecting movements of human is one of the key applications of wireless sensor
networks. Existing technique is detecting movements of a target using face tracking in wireless
sensornetwork work efficiently but here we implementing face action recognition system by using
image processing and algorithms with sensors nodes. Using sensor node we can collect the
information, data about human facial expressions and movements of human body and comparing
old data captured by sensors to the new capturing data, if data is match then we can say that
detecting human is same as early. Here we create new framework for face tracking and its
movements capturing, achieve tracking ability with high accuracy using Wireless Sensor
Networks. We use the Edge Detection Algorithms, Optimal Selection Algorithm, Image Processing
Technique, Action Recognition, the big data analysis. Using java language, various types of sensors.

The Effect Of Low Ph On Enzyme Activity
Final Applied Lab Project: The effect of low pH on Enzyme Activity
Thomas Long
Biology 6380: Introduction to Biology (2155)
Summer Semester Final Applied Lab Project
Introduction
What are Enzymes?
Enzymes are proteins that initiate change. The enzymes found in the human body are naturally
occurring. They catalyze, or accelerate, all normal biochemical reactions in the body. Enzymes are
responsible for all metabolic functions and many are vital for life itself. These proteins are highly
specific regarding what they do and under what conditions they do it (2015, Enzyme Institution).
Similar to a glove and a hand, the enzyme and substrate must fit correctly in order to work.
The reactions within cells are catalyzed by a specific type of proteins known as enzymes. Enzymes
catalyze the rate of a specific reaction by recuing the amount of energy needed to get the chemical
reaction started or the activation of energy. The activity of these enzymes is dependent upon several
different things including the shape of the molecule, and specifically the concentration of the
enzyme and substrate (hydrogen peroxide). This laboratory exercise will be conducted under a
controlled environment to determine the influence of pH on the enzyme catalase.
Pre Lab Questions
1.What do you expect to happen to the chicken when you add to the hydrogen peroxide?
I expect the hydrogen peroxide to react as an acid to the chicken and bubble or dissolve over time.

Differences Of Hegel And Nietzsche
German philosophers Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel (1770 1831) and Friedrich Nietzsche (1844
1900) have traditionally been viewed as polar opposites in terms of their philosophy. Hegel has
been dubbed an idealist and a systematic philosopher who identified various different types of
History, theoretical entities and concepts. Nietzsche, on the other hand, is seen to be a counter
Enlightenment and counter systematic philosopher who penned the well known text, Genealogy of
Morals . In this essay, I aim to bring to light the underlying similarities between the two thinkers
that have previously been overlooked, as well as to identify the differences in Hegel and Nietzsche
s ideologies and presuppositions.
Hegel identifies three types of History; Original History, which is written during the historical
period being investigated, Reflective ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Additionally, both Hegel and Nietzsche use the Master / Slave dichotomy to account for identity
and difference in the relationship between the powerful subject and the weak object. Both thinkers
see identity and morality emerging out of a relationship of conflict. Moreover, in both Hegel and
Nietzsche s narratives, there is a change in the structure of acknowledgment, where the antagonistic
relationship allows one side to define itself by negating the other. Both thinkers find that negation is
an integral part of identity formation. Hegel and Nietzsche both concur, in dialectical terms, Being
is represented by the object , or Master, and the subject , or Slave, is constantly in the process of
Becoming . From these similarities, is that clear that both 19th century philosophers have made a
massive impact on philosophical thought in todays day and age, despite their distinct

Tactics to Spotting a Liar
Knowing when to identify when a person is being deceiving or lying to another person is an
advantage when living in the world today. Within this paper there will be tactics to spotting
certain lies, whether it is through verbally or nonverbally instances. This will be useful if one was
hiring a new employee, speaking to their child about problems, confronting their girlfriend or
boyfriend about affairs that might be happening, or maybe even dating a new person, having the
ability to tell if there is a liecould have life altering consequences. One would also get the
policing aspect on how they conduct police interviews and interrogations. Later, I will be
discussing the insight of liar and what they are thinking. If one wants to beat the liar, they have
to understand why and how the liar is doing their deceitful ways. It would also be to the
advantage of the victim of a deceiver to know how liar is deceiving people in human affairs, this
will also be covered. The topic will be brought up if lying should be considered a criminal
offense in certain situations and how to go about that. Sometimes lying can also come from a
positive side; the question arises if it is even moral or ethically right to deceive another not only
for your own advantage, but maybe for another. A common criminal act that is involved with
lying and deceit is crime fraud, it will be discussed how they are linked. Police are not the only

The Code Of Ethics And The Police Department
Organizational climate is essential in developing a culture of incorruptible individuals and this
climate is set by the organizations leaders. Within the SCORE unit of the Kansas City, Kansas
Police Department (KCKPD) at the time of the indictment, it was not clear if leaders set a tone of
ethical conduct, nor did it appear that principled conduct was the cornerstone of the command
leadership philosophy. Specifically, all ethical standards for Kansas City PoliceDepartment are
derived from Wyandotte County Unified Government code of ethics and the police department
lacks police specific philosophies toward ethical conduct (Unified Government Ordinance, 2009).
Although, the International Chiefs of Police have established a code of honor adopted by many
police departments, it is unclear bases on empirical information what KCKPD leadership expected
of their Police officers. For instance, it is vital for executive to formulate as stated by Martin
(2011), an agenda that explains the moral purposes of the department (para. 6). Therefore, not
making an ethics based agenda and delivering a repetitive and deliberate focus on such an agenda to
all levels is one failure by leadership to have contributed to creating a perceived environment of
unethical conduct. On the other hand, senior managers cannot root out corruption without captains,
lieutenants, sergeants and senior officers. Middle and first line leader are essential to the command
structure ensuring high standards are

The Extent to Which Sociologists Agree that Official Criminal Statistics Do Not Give an Accurate
Picture of the Extent in Terms of Crime
The official crime statistics on there own are ok to some extent, they give some accuracy on the
crime statistics but they don t show the whole picture, there is still a lot of crime which is not
reported (this is known as the hidden figure). Moreover self report studies give better pictures to
the public about criminal statistics. Self reported studies are confidential surveys that ask people to
tick off boxes from a list. From this a clear picture is created and therefore the statistics can tell the
truth.
Although official crime statistics may appear to show ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example people might find the offence to private and would not report it or the victim
suffered no loss etc... This has an affect on the statistics because there might be a lot of crime
which is not reported, therefore the statistics would not tell accurate results on crime. Another
reason why the official criminal statistics might be wrong is because people may consider the
reported crime to be too trivial or to be a mistake. This will have an affect on the overall statistics
because the crime reported might be minor such as theft of ВЈ1.50 from an old lady s purse, but yet
reported and put into the official criminal statistics. So there might be some crime in the
statistics which shouldn t really be there, therefore the statistics might not tell the truth.
Moreover not all crimes are detected in the first place, so it cannot be reported to the police. For
example a man might get away with pick pocketing a person without him/her realising it, so this
crime will not be detected. Moving on some crimes might not be recorded by the police because the
crime might be seen as a less serious offence and so it cannot be recorded by the police. However
serious crimes such as car theft and murder are more likely to be reported by police and to be put
into the official crime statistics. In addition

Analysis Of Aesthetic In In The Mood For Love
One of the most important components in the movie is aesthetic. The reason is aesthetic that can
create atmosphere and mood. Especially, one of the most famous Hong Kong director Wong Kar
Wai, who direct In the mood for Love (2000) put many elements in Aesthetic such as mise en scene,
sounds, editing and the cinematography. Aesthetic is an essential factor to construct a character,
and create mood. Especially Wong Kar Wai has unique aesthetic to elicit emotion. Those
components can bring audiences into the movie. In this essay, I will argue that the subject of
heartrending but romantic narrative has been depicted through the four components which are mise
en scene, cinematography, editing and sound. This will be done by analyzing every scene, followed
by analyzing each element of the film aesthetic.
The feature expressing style of Wong Kar Wai is indirection. Wong Kar Wai expresses indirect
character s emotion and thoughts. The main character of In the mood for love is Tony Leung, who
acts Mr. Chow in this movie, Tony Leung is a famous actor as The Grandmaster (2013) directed

Michael Jackson Sang The Famous Line, If You Wan Na Make...
If humanity takes the time to sit down and internalize, one of the questions coming to mind has
to do with why is it often afraid of change? Change is in fact a big theme in the 1987 hit song The
Man in the Mirror (Appendix E), where the late artist Michael Jackson sang the famous line, If
you wanna make the world a better place, take a look at yourself and make a change. Fast
forward to a modern day 2016 filled with political unrest, poverty, and waning human rights,
Michael Jackson s message of self reflection eventually translating into social change finds its
relevancy today, despite the song s thirty years old tenure. It introduces the notion that all
individuals in society are essentially human, even in spite of humanity s tendency to demonize
other belief systems. Even Saint Mother Theresa agreed with this point, once saying that if we
have no peace, it is because we have forgotten that we belong to each other. The only way to
reconcile the fact that differences don t corrupt our humanity is in society s willingness to be
flexible to different points of view and recognize the structures of prejudice in a modern context.
What then is the harm in paring away our egos to realize that we all have something to bring to the
table? Forms of art that even attempt to evoke this message of solidarity include poetry, which in
itself is a free medium that poets utilize to express their thoughts and emotions. Langston Hughes,
Paul Laurence Dunbar, Maya Angelou, and

come with a job like that? Now just think of a newspaper columnist trying to change the life of a
complete stranger, with a mental illness. To any other American, this is something that seems
totally out of the ordinary. No one would go out of their way to help a mentally ill man that is
also homeless. But one man did, and his name is Steve Lopez. He took on the job of helping
mentally ill man named Nathaniel Ayers. Nathaniel has schizophrenia, which is brain disorder that
affects the way person reviews reality. He is a very talented musician, and that s what lead Steve
to Nathaniel in the first place. Steve never thought that he would become so attached to Nathaniel,
who was once a complete stranger. This story is very moving and important to the mentally ill and
homeless community. But the story and the movie are told in two different ways. Steve lopez

The Class Of African American History
Color You walk into the classroom and it s the most awkward thing ever. You regret the day you
signed up for this class...African American history. But why? Why did everyone inelegantly stare?
Why does your skin color make matters this problematic? It s essential that a class like African
American history becomes more diverse. Most assume that this class is aiming for an African
Americanaudience. This assumption is completely misleading, but most fall the underdog to. The
homogeneity society amongst the students is bare and should be altered.
I m currently enrolled in African American history. I ve noticed there aren t any people outside
of the African American race in the class. The teacher has noticed out of all 9 years he s been
teaching the class, he s had maybe 8 people that weren t African American. I feel there is no
imagined community within this learning space. In Pratt s essay she tells how Benedict
Anderson refers to an imagined community. Anderson s idea of an imagined community is
communities exist as imagined entities in which people will never know most of their fellow
members, meet them or even hear of them, yet in the minds of each other lives the image of
their communication (327). All classes are expected to be diverse and full of divergence. But
yet, we re all in some way in which most think is by race, already in deep relation. The absence of
nonconformity leaves a toll on the class, whereas we are interested in how people from different
races feel

The potential role of smaller firms in employment creation is the most noticeable motivation for the

Radiant White Beauty Commercial Essay
Mark Twain once said, The finest clothing made is a person s own skin, but, of course, society
demands something more than this. The five part series of the POND s Radiant white beauty
advertisement features popular Bollywood actors Saif Ali Khan, Priyanka Chopra and Neha
Dhupia. The commercial portrays Karan (Khan) as preferring lighter skin woman(Dhupia) over
dusky skinned Ria (Chopra). The commercial begins with Karan breaking up with Ria. Why? Its
because she is apparently not light skinned. After 3 years, despairing Ria sees Karan with a
lighter skin Woman (Dhupia). This leads Ria to think that in order to win a man, she must have
a lighter skin. Ria feels distressed with her skin tone and comes across the Pond s radiant white
beauty advertisement which features a cream that makes women s skin white. As to much of the
audience s anticipation, Ria chooses to buy and use Pond s white beauty to get lighter and allure
her ex boyfriend back. Pond s radiant white beauty gives you a radiant pinkish white glow, pale

Internal Medicine Internist Personal Statement
It was 2011 when the revolution burst out. I was studying for my pharmacology exam when I saw
on TV that people were getting injured and shot. There were a lot of field hospitals and
volunteering doctors that I knew. I wanted to go there and assist the injured, but I knew that my
lack of medical training would not allow me to do that. Since then I have been thinking of the best
medical field to help and be useful in the future. Internists are who people think of when they think

Comparison Of Political Parties
America is in the midst of tunnel vision With all the political parties in the mix today it can be
confusing to an average citizen who works daily to feed the family and pay the bills. You have
Democrats and Republicans today that used to be light years apart and today they are shadows of
one another. Many feel the Libertarian and Independent parties are not strong enough to carry the
load in government. There are words such as conservative, socialist, progressive and liberal that are
thrown about like the wind. For example their are similarities to the progressive party and the
socialist party. They want the same goal just in a different way. Socialism is an economic system

The conservatives are generally and not always part of the republican party. These parties have
changed so much since their inception. And with all the negative feelings of each party towards
one another we are giving rise to the Roman Empire Theory where America is seen in
similarities to the old Roman Empire that collapsed upon itself. Here are some examples of the
connections: First, the huge cost of elections today have spiralled out of control costing billions
of dollars. This is creating the appearance that our leaders are puppets of specail interest groups.
In the Roman Empire, towards the end the elections were costing staggering amounts and
causing terrible results. Thus, weakening the system. Second, in the late Roman Empire the
road to wealth was seen as being in the political arena. The Roman leaders would accumulate
great amounts of personal wealth. Today the very same thing is happening across America with
those who want to become very wealthy get into the politics and seek a seat either in Congress
or the Presidency. Third, as the Roman Empire spiralled down there were wars and a national
state of security arose. The same can be said for America as in the last century we have had
several wars and now the security of the nation is being challenged. Fourth, during the last years of
the Roman Empire the leaders were given wealth from other nations to buy their influence to help
them in return. The same is happening in America today as foreign powers send huge sums of
money to our various leaders to gain their favor. Fifth, the Romans in their last years made huge
profits from their business in foreign countries. In America today, many large corporations have
there manufacturing plants in other nations and reaping higher dividends. And Lastly, in the last

Importance of Speech in Much Ado About Nothing, A Midsummer Night s Dream, and Richard III
Speech is often the strongest indicator of personality and motivation in Shakespearean histories and
comedies. Each turn of phrase is a small insight into the essence of the character. Stringing together
each line from the mouth of the character allows the audience to discover each nuance created by
Shakespeare. By connecting the actions to a manner of speech, which mirrors those actions,
Shakespeare is able to create more believable and dynamic characters. Examining Much Ado About

specific way of speaking. Villains with their quick and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Much Ado About Nothing, Don John, the established villain, claims I am not a man of many
words (I.i). From this assertion, a certain amount of mystery arises in the audience. The other
characters have long been conversing on their victories in war (and verbal battles) while Don
John lurks in the background. By removing himself from the conversation, Don John becomes an
observer, which automatically arouses suspicion regarding his motives. Throughout his
interaction with the primary characters in the play, Don John keeps his word of not speaking
often. Rarely does he speak to Don Pedro, his brother, or his brother s intimate friends, but he
becomes much more verbal with speech with his lackies, Borachio and Conrade. Although he is
never loquacious, Don John s tongue becomes looser as he relishes in his plans to both the
audience and his followers. His speech still maintains the short, staccato like phrases when
makings his plans of mischief (I.i). This change of speech also indicates a hidden personality
and possible ill will. The audience is expected to receive this quick transformation as evidence of
Don John s evil nature. Those who missed the clues earlier in the scene are now able to fully
understand the reasons behind Don John s reserved nature. Don John s delivery of speech varies
so greatly between company that the audience could deduce his evil plot before it is fully revealed.

My laughter is empty and hollow
My feelings are wrecked within and often, feigned
Wounded by sheer agony not so shallow
So much so that my breathing is strained
T was a tale of two carefree and mirthful souls
Walking on a bed of roses in delight
Before they knew it, it evolved into strolls
Nearing a dismal end nowhere in sight
Tearing in painful joy and deep despair
Those bittersweet memories reach a dead end
A relationship I cannot repair
And this dreadful kiss of death, was once a friend
The haunting past I can never mend

Once A Friend
This poem is about losing a friend. Without her friend, the speaker is deprived of happiness. Even
when the speaker laughs or smiles, it is faked. The speaker was affected so much that breathing
became a burden. Initially, they were elated but soon, it turned into a path with a bitter end. Kiss of
death is a phrase, which refers to something that causes failure. The turn at the ending couplet
shows the speaker s reflection that there is no point in feeling nostalgic, as she cannot change the
past.
I Can See You From Up Here
This poem is about a dead person requesting for her loved one not to cry by claiming that she is
not dead. The speaker is trying to assure her loved one that she is always watching her from
above. The speaker objectifies herself as the clouds, birds, sun and stars as they are high in the sky,
where Heaven is thought to be. In the 5th stanza, the speaker states, suffered but in delight , as she
suffered but since she does not want her loved one to cry, she tells that she is delighted. The
speaker also advises her loved one not to revisit the past by retaining

You would think a continuous strand of good music would come from artists imitating what was
popular in past generations, but it seems this is not true. The song The Next Episode was about
being in clubs and the dangers of still having people out to get you while also getting ready for
the turn of the millennium. When they changed the word b*tch to chick and all of the other
lyrics like that (even changing the phrase poke on in the song completely) it still had no impact
on the overall song. However, if you look at the rest of the lyrics to Tyga s song you can see that
changing all of those words would eventually leave basically no song at all. The entire song is
just about his girlfriend and sexual themes. Perhaps the term the radio killed music truly is not

The Left Hand Of Darkness Feminist Essay
Science fiction plays an important part in feminism texts. According toTom Moylanпј€1986
пј‰
science fiction can serve as a playground for feminist considerations and criticism of gender,
sexuality, social roles and oppression, reproduction, patriarchy, and much more(p.30). Le Guin
agrees with this definition and states that pulling back from reality in order to see it better, is
perhaps the essential gesture of science fiction. Butler (2004) has the similar idea that fantasy is
what allows us to imagine ourselves and others otherwise (p.28). Two science fiction feminist

Based on the reading of de Beauvoir, Butler further argues a new concept that gender subsumes
sex which indicates that biological sex is also socially constructed . Butler(1986) forms her new
idea that becomes a woman is a process of constructing ourselves and it is a purpositive and
apropiative set of acts, the acquisition of a skill . For Butler (1990), women can never be and
gender is never a noun but a set of free floating attributes. Hence, gender is proved to be
performative(p.18 24). Her idea co relates with Nietzsche s view of gender that there is no gender
identity behind the expression of gender; that identity is performatively constituted by the
expression of one s gender(Butler, 1990, p.24 25). It seems to Butler that de Beauvoir defines
gender ambiguously because she misses the performative character of gender. Butler claims that
people need to understand the term woman as the site of permanent openness and resignifiability ,
which is different from de Beauvoir s view that women are subjects in

Hector Berlioz s Symphonie Fantastique
My favorite piece is Symphonie Fantastique by the composer Hector Berlioz. This is my favorite
piece because I love how it really tells a story through music. You can feel the emotions he puts
into every single sound. Frankly, I enjoy this the most, because it is the only orchestra song I
have listened to that I could see the picture running through my head. Therefore throughout this
essay I will show you an in depth look into the piece Symphonie Fantastique and illustrate why it
is my favorite. Hector was born in 1803 in La Cotes St Andre, a small town near the French alps.
Hector began using instruments at the age of twelve, however he was a very isolated and lonely
teen. He went to school to first become a doctor, but then he realized that was not his passion and
switched to music. Furthermore Hector Berliozbecame known as the father of modern
orchestration. During the writing of Symphonie Fantastique he was inspired very inspired by
Beethoven s work and began writing symphonies because of him. This piece was originally

The Vatican, situated within Rome, Italy, is the capital of the Catholic faith. Lead by a Pope,
who is chosen by the Cardinals when one dies or retires, is the source of leadership for Catholics

Illuminati based novel Angels and Demons in the holy city of Catholics. Many others love to have
Illuminati base theories set within this important place. What people do not realize is that there is a

While it is still debatable on whether or not the information in the expository books is trustworthy
or not, there is no doubt that financial mismanagement existed. If there had been no
mismanagement, it would be very odd that Pope Francis created groups and hired others to help
with the finances and odd that he chastised employees for the debts. It seems that Pope Francis is
indeed what the leadership of the Catholics needed. He has begun changing the way things are in
social concerns as well. He focuses on changing the Vatican and the leadership of the faith for
the better. Financial corrections and the end of corruption is just one of the many ways he is
doing so. While it is not the deep conspiracy corruption many in the world fantasize about, the
financial troubles because of officials not wanting to pay so much or whatever truly happened is
still a troubling corruption in itself. Those who work for the papacy need to embody the traits that
believers would expect of someone who works for the Catholic faith. Pope Francis is the one who

Eukaryotic Cell Lab Report
All living things are composed of cells. A cell is the most basic unit of life and the smallest
working unit of living things. Cells can either be classified as prokaryotic or eukaryotic. A
prokaryotic cell does not have a nucleus and is the smallest type of cells. Whereas, eukaryotic cells
are much more complex and include a nucleus. For this lab the student used a cheek celland an
onion cell which are classified as eukaryotic cells. Eukaryotic cells also consist of many organelles.
An organelle is one of several structures with specialized functions, suspended in the cytoplasm of a

The function of the cell membrane is to separate the cell from its environment and regulate the
exchange of materials into and out of the cell. Along with the cell membrane, all cells have

cytoplasm has three functions which are to provide a medium for organelles to remain suspended
in, a site for many biochemical reactions, and aids in the movement of different cellular elements.
In addition, both plant and animal cells have a network of tubular membranes within the
cytoplasm of the cell, that can be either with a smooth surface (smooth endoplasmic reticulum) or
studded with ribosomes (rough endoplasmic reticulum) and are involved in the transport of
materials. Mitochondrion which break down sugar molecules into energy and a vacuole which

Art Nouveau Rhetorical Analysis
The article that I chose to analyze was The Role of Women in the Iconography of Art Nouveau
by Jan Thompson. The main argument in this essay is the depiction of women as objects in the
Nouveau style and how they were highly idealized and depicted very differently than they
appeared in real life. The intended audience for this essay is women. The author was able to
successfully argue and prove their thesis through historical perspective, detailed analyses of the
depiction of women as objects, and the use of relevant primary sources. Thompson gives a brief
description of what was happening during the time of the Art Nouveau style and how it affected
the depiction of women. During this time, suffrage was beginning to take hold in society and
women were beginning to embrace their own individualism and began taking their lives into their
own hands. The author argues that the depiction of women as highly idealized objects was a
reaction to this movement and was an attempt by artists to resist the changes in society. The
depiction of women as fragile, helpless objects was to reinforce the belief that women were inferior
to men. The idealization of women in the Art Nouveau style was an attempt by artists of the time to

the idea that women were objects meant to appeal towards male audiences. Using works from the

American Dance Report
On September 10th, I had the pleasure of attending the Shapiro and Smith Dance. The
performance was a series of different dance numbers that used different elements of sound and
movements to promote their ideas. The first dance was called Dance with Two Army Blankets.
The dance used old army blankets as props to throw the dancers around the stage. Often, the
blankets were used to throw these dancers away from other people who they were trying to reach,
as if their experiences with war made it difficult for them to connect with others. This danced was
followed by Jack, a dancebetween two men and played around with all the fairy tales and rhymes

on what sounds they could make through stomping, clapping, snapping, as well as their own

intimate atmosphere, and the distance between dancer and audience felt less because the normal
glam that is used to separate those on stage from those in the house was gone. The following
dance, however, went back to what I was expecting to see at a dance show. To Have and To Hold
was a number dedicated to those we have loved and lost but not forgotten, to quote my program.
The music was entirely instrumental and the mood of the music was used to dictate mood of the

clinicians use to determine a diagnosis and therapy that would best benefit their client. In the
second part of my paper, I will discuss and address different considerations in which a therapist
should make in order to provide a safe and effectively therapeutic environment. Though therapy is
a largely utilized form of mental health treatment, the different theories, types, and approaches
are not commonly known. Therapy itself holds a stigma, rendering its components widely
unknown and avoided by a vast population. Throughout history and many different cultures, there
have been many forms of psychological treatment, some more humane than others. The ancient
view was generally found to be that abnormality usually had something to do with evil spirits
and cursed individuals; they viewed the human body as a battleground between external forces
of good and evil . . . abnormal behavior was typically interpreted as a victory by evil spirits, and the
cure was to force the demon from a victim s body. (pg. 8 of book) Later, in Greek and Roman
times, it was widely believed that abnormal behavior was formed and caused by dysfunction of the
human body itself. It is clear that therapy, and knowledge of psychologyin general, has come a long

The law of conservation of mass states that mass cannot created or destroyed but how did this law

You may be wondering who Lavoisier is well to start off he was a scientist. LAvoisier was a

Inception Inception was released in 2010, and the film was given a slightly futuristic

The United States vision of and for the world changed dramatically, and perhaps permanently, on
September 11, 2001. The aftermath frightened and impacted the nation s reputation, and in order
to measure the nature and extent of our policies, it is important to understand our efforts after this
national attack on US soil. Many interesting documents released earlier that year provides a
detailed perspective of America s economic policies and actions towards the War on Terror. The
U.S. came out with a massive debt that has impacted the nation in several ways, but this leads to a
basic question with a complex answer: How did the U.S. War on Terrorismimpact the American
Debt Crisis? After researching further into the 9/11 attacks, clearly most of the money put into
the war was wasted or misspent. Even though it was crucial going after the terrorists, especially
since they had taken many lives and were capable to repeating their attack caused fear throughout
the nation. It is important to signal out that the U.S. was attacked from a terrorist organization
that had their focus on the U.S. for a long time. The impact that this served after 9/11 plays a clear
role in defining the results of how these economic policies were taken into action. After looking
over this tragic event in the U.S. history, there should have been a very high consideration towards
how the money was going to be used in an effort to defeat terrorismbefore this event occurred. The
top priority for the U.S. has

then Tuesday Allister became deeply concerned.
All day Tuesday, a wave of uneasiness drifted over him. He called Tank, and his voice mail

On Wednesday morning, several tenants in Tank s building were gathering outside his door. They
hadn t seen him for a few days birthing a feeling of dread. Emanating from under his door is a

Thomas Edison Accomplishments
Genius is two percent inspiration and ninety eight percent perspiration, said by one of the most
ingenious inventors in American history. Thomas Alva Edison held more than 1,000 registered
trademarks and is best remembered for inventing the phonograph or jukebox/stereo turntable in
1877. He also invented the first commercially successful electric light bulb two years later.
Although Edison did not invent the light bulb, he developed a durable fiber/thread that made its use
practical.
Thomas Alva Edison was born on February 11, 1847 in Milan, Ohio, which was a community that
was the largest wheat shipping center in the world other than Odessa,Russia. His family moved to
Port Huron, Michigan in 1854, which exceeded the commercial excellence of both Milan and
Odessa. After spending 12 weeks in the noisy one room schoolhouse with 38 other kids of two
different ages, Thomas overworked and his short tempered teacher finally became flustered with
Thomas questioning and seemingly self centered behavior. Thomas made no secret of his belief that
the other kids brains were scrambled noting that Thomas head was ... Show more content on

There is no question that Edison deserves a huge amount of credit for lighting up the world.
Although, this accomplishment was way less related to his particular discovery of an incandescent
light bulb (A.K.A the globe ball light bulb) than to his creation of the first genuinely safe and
economically practical system for generating and distributing light and power around the world.
The majority of historians usually associate Edison with the invention of the light bulb along with
the other 1093 things he did indeed invent, using his bright, beautiful mind. The historians do
practically ignore the greater significance that he called his first model of a complete central power
station , that was built in Brockton,

The Pyramid Of Giza And The Pyramids
Although much research stays to be done in these zones, legend, prehistoric studies, arithmetic,
and earth sciences appear to show that the Great Pyramid was a fantastic gadget for get together,
enhancing, and centering a baffling vitality field for the profound advantage of individuals. We
don t know precisely how the pyramid and its principle chamber were utilized, and the geometric
structure of the pyramid has been quietly adjusted by the evacuation of the packaging stones and
the top stone (Ruggles, 2015). None the less, the Great Pyramid of the Giza level still radiates
incredible power as a transformational force place. It has done as such for uncounted a huge
number of years and appears to be bound to proceed for a long time to come.
The Pyramid of Giza is a generous antiquated structure on the planet and the most baffling (Ruggles,
2015). As per winning archeological hypothesis and there is truly no proof to affirm this thought
the three pyramids on the Giza level are funerary structures of three kings of the fourth dynasty.
The Great Pyramid has intrigued individuals for a large number of years, yet the more it is
examined, the more inquiries emerge (Bartlett, 2014). The standard hypothesis, which it was
fabricated as a tomb for Pharaoh Khufu around 2360 B.C., utilizing just copper apparatuses, wood,
rope and sweat, is still around, yet it is less and less ready to answer the inquiries new proof offers

Army Tactical Wheeled Vehicle Strategy
Does the high cost of the JLTV preclude it from replacing the HMMWV, as outlined in the 2010
U.S. Army Tactical Wheeled Vehicle Strategy?
In September 2011, the Senate Appropriations Defense Subcommittee voted to cancel the Army
and Marine Corps Joint Light Tactical Vehicle (JLTV) in their version of the fiscal year 2012
defense bill (Munoz, 2011). This measure could have completely shut down efforts to replace a
thirty year old fleet of Humvees, loyal but potentially outmoded tactical wheeled vehicles. The
Army s Modernized Expanded Capacity Vehicle program has been a project set to replace the
High Mobility, Multi Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV) family in the works for years. The project,
however, continues to be stymied by budgetary constraints. Per vehicle costs for the JLTV begin at
$250,000 and are likely to climb, as Lockheed Martin secured a preliminary contract for
engineering, design, and development. The high cost of the JLTV does preclude it from completely
replacing the HMMWV, and yet cost does not preclude the JLTV from supplementing the Army s
fleet. A middle ground solution is the best method of maximizing initial investments, while also
banking on the robustness of national security.
The primary argument against adopting the JLTV as a full replacement for the HMMWV is that
the HMMWV remains viable, and that resources have already been diverted towards adapting and
upgrading the fleet. A considerable amount of money has already been spent on upgrading the
existing

Philip II of Macedonia Essay
Philip II of Macedonia became king when he was 23 years old in very dire situations in 359
B.C.E. (Sekunda 4). There were threats from barbarians north of Macedonia, and threats from
the cunning Greek southern cities (4). Philip had to act quickly to gain control so he needed to
create an army (4). He had spent time in Thebes as a hostage and gained military knowledge from
the work of Epaminondas, one of the greatest generals of the day ( Philip II ). He armed his
military with a sarissa, a pike that, at about 16 feet long, had a greater reach than Greek weapons (
Philip II ). This weapon made his army very powerful and allowed his phalanxes to strike first (
Philip II ). In 338 B.C.E., Philip defeated Chaeronea, one of the Greek... Show more content on

Philip and Cleopatra soon have a daughter and name her Europa (34). Philip is preparing for his
invasion, and without a male heir to the throne, everyone is concerned about what will happen
to the empire if he is killed in battle (35). Philip follows the advice of Demaratus and sends for
his son Alexander (35). Soon after Alexander returns, Philip is offered a proposal of marriage
between his mentally handicapped son, Arrhidaeus, and the daughter of the Carian throne (35).
Alexander goes behind his father and sends the famed actor, Thessalus, to negotiate the marriage
with him instead (35). Philip finds out and tells Alexander that he has showed little hope for
being a worthy king (36). Alexander has just returned to the empire and does not want to create a
new rift with Philip so he readily admits he had behaved imprudently (36). With all of the family
distractions, Philip tries to focus on his plans for the invasion. He does have one other family
matter to take care of before he leaves. Philip fears that Olympias brother, Alexander of Epirus,
will not keep his allegiance with him since he divorced Olympias (36). He arranges the marriage
of his daughter Cleopatra to Alexander to secure his allegiance (36). Philip knows he will be
gone in battle for a long while, so he invites many friends, dignitaries, and ambassadors from all of
Greece and beyond to the wedding ceremony (36).

The economic recession is a major contributing factor as to why many students are enrolling back
into colleges and universities. A majority of these students are enrolling at higher rates because the
job market has also become extremely competitive. These students are giving up their time and
money to raise their educational level. Many people have realized that education is a passport to a
better future. Without education, people may end up unemployed resulting in the possibility of
destitution. More and more students are finding it difficult to get into the classes they need to

The first hazard that residents of Maryland are exposed to during a hurricane are floods. Floods

Storm surge is an abnormal rise of water generated from a hurricane, over and above the
predicted tide. Most storm surges are caused from the strong winds of a hurricane or tropical
storm. Storm surges cause an abundant amount of flooding with no means of lowering until the
winds and tides are back to normal. A hurricane can produce destructive storm surge, which is
water that is pushed toward the shore by the force of the winds swirling around the storm. This
advancing surge combines with the normal tides to create the hurricane storm tide, which can
increase the mean water level 15 feet or more. According to the Eastern Shore Regional GIS
Cooperative (ESRGC), Maryland has been subject to its share of major flooding events from the
first recorded flood on May 11, 1860 in Baltimore City along Jones Falls to the devastating floods
caused by the tidal surge of Hurricane Isabel in mid September 2003. (Joyce

Type 2 Diabetes And Psychotic Depression Essay
Type 2 Diabetes and Psychotic Depression
Type 2 diabetes and psychotic depression interrelate in different ways. First, substances of abuse
such as cannabis, alcohol and tobacco have the potential to interfere with or change the
pharmacokinetics of the oral hypoglycemic agents used in treating diabetes in addition. In addition,
the use and presence of a comorbid psychiatric disorder like depression interfere with the
management of diabetes. The interference occurs by negative influence on patients adherence to
treatment adherence. There are also disorders such as phobia of needles and injections in psychotic
patients, which can make it difficult to diagnose and treat diabetes through blood glucose testing
and insulin injection. Such phobias interfere with the treatment of type 2 diabetes. Finally, patients
with psychotic depression are less likely to go for psychiatric test and treatment, thus delaying the
diagnosis or detection of co occurring diabetes.

Downsizing Case Study
Introduction Carl, (2003) argued that, the recent economic crisis has led to an increased use of
downsizing by corporations to manage costs. In the case of high technology workers, the direct
cost of downsizing is so expensive because of employees compensations and other benefits. This
type of compensation is typically comprised of some combination of the following: benefits
payouts, costs of administrative processing amongst others. On the other hand indirect costs
include law cases from affected employees, loss of productivity by employees low moralefor

A company should have a method of informing the employees when they are earmarked for
downsizing using a consistent communication strategy. The role of human resource manager is to
make sure that, employees facing downsizing should be treated with Outmost respect and dignity
similar to one offered to them when they were being welcomed in the employment. HR should also
keep unfettered focus on employees job performance and use the layoff as an opportunity to get rid
of poor performers. There should be consistent and steady communication communications to
affected employees, transparency and truthfulness. According to Casio, (2003) there are various
steps taken by the management to preserve the morale of the downsizing drive survivors. The
company is expected to treat the departing employees in a fair and humane manner. Miller, (2008)

Smoking During Pregnancy can at least be Linked to...
Many would argue that childbirth is a beautiful and miraculous event, however the process of the
pregnancy is a very fragile time in the mother s life. During this time most everyone would agree
that the mother should attempt to do everything that is possible to take care of her body. There
are some habits, however, that an extremely difficult to break, even during a pregnancy. The
practice of smoking tobacco is one of those habits. Many doctors would argue that smoking is
never healthy for the body especially during a pregnancy. For years institutions have sought to
produce statistical data to uncover the effects of smoking during a pregnancy. Even with the
changing times, statistical studies on this topic, continue to produce the same conclusions. In
1965, the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Palo Alto Medical Clinic in California,
published a study of the pregnancy data of 5,659 women, who received care at their facilities from
1952 to 1958 (Downing) . This study recorded the end results of each pregnancy for both smokers,
of which there were 2,630, and non smokers, of which there were 3,029 (Downing). This study
found mixed results within different types of pregnancy complications. The study found that there
were 88 premature births in smokers, compared to 66 in non smokers (Downing). At the same time
there were more of both abortions and post natal deaths in non smokers than in smokers. Chart 1 A

  • 2. Honesty, Honesty And Honesty Honesty, honesty, honesty. That s all we, as evolving adolescents in society, hear from our parents, teachers, and coaches. The demonstration of honesty among all people of all ages, simultaneous along with the performance of integrity, compassion, and other powerful traits, is one of the most influential and difficult Laws of Life to endure. Mahatma Gandhi put this into words wonderfully, suggesting that, It is difficult, but not impossible, to conduct strictly honest business. The Laws of Life, honesty, in particular, are not only difficult to attain, but are also the foundation stones of a functional and upbuilding society. Honesty is a valuable character trait that benefits both the one displaying it as well as his or her... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After that day, I considered honesty one of my biggest priorities. Come today, I have been in a much improved peace of mind, and have connected with my brother much more. Honesty is not always easy, for no one ever wants to get in trouble or let someone down. Nevertheless, there is no greater feeling than laying the truth off your back. Because of Drew, I have been able to exert honesty, which comes with other traits, such as compassion and bravery, in my daily life. Although I admit I am not perfect, nor remotely close to it, I do believe, from the bottom of my heart, that honesty is the best policy. Honesty is considered a Law of Life because it is a propitious and positive principle that guides behavior towards a truly successful life. Mary Kay Ash, an extremely successful businesswoman, exemplarily fostered honesty and trust in her life. She wrote, Honesty is the cornerstone of all success, without which confidence and ability to perform shall cease to exist. Mary shows, clearly, how honesty is a prominent Law of Life and how it is a necessary principle to follow in order to achieve success. Although dishonest people may have immediate success in whatever field they are in, his or her mistake will reveal itself in the end game. People who exert honesty and virtue, on the other hand, are respected and end up successful and contented in the end game. These powerful people also have an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. Does the Final Chapter of Bronte s Jane Eyre Fit with the... The final chapter s of Bronte s Jane Eyre have been a subject of discussion since it s first publication. Many say the the ending does not fit and other argue that it does. There is a lot of evidence pointing to the latter. The conclusion reveals the fate of Mr. Rochester and Jane, Adele, and of St. John. All of the endings, a mixture of both happy and tragic, to fit with the entire story and can explained because of the Victorian era. This essay will argue that the conclusion of this novel, more specifically that Jane does go back to Mr. Rochester, is extremely fitting to both the plot and the essence of the novel. Jane still has her independence even though she goes back to him. Not only does the relationship even out, the biggest way Jane keeps her independence and her character traits is that she chooses to go back to Rochester. She sets aside her brain and uses her heart fully in making the decision. It was my time to assume ascendency. My powers were in play and in force, (301). She went back to Rochester and married him because she wanted to. She did not need to marry Rochester for his money or his social status, she married him because she wanted to. One of the biggest themes of Jane Eyre is the ideal woman and the struggle between choosing to be passionate or suppressing it. At the very end, it is most fitting for the character to develop in such a way that she chooses to be passionate. During the time of the novel as well, women were meant to suppress their wants and desires but the novel is very ahead of it s time. It s showing that it is perfectly alright to marry for love and marriage won t make you lose your independence. The happy ending for Mr. Rochester and Jane are not the only fitting thing about the ending. AdГЁle s fate is also very fitting for the plot and the English Victorian era. • 6. The Importance Of The Bronze Age Collapse Between 1,250 and 1,150 B.C.E, there were many factors that contributed to the Bronze Age Collapse, allowing the area near the Fertile Crescent and throughout the Mediterranean to transition into the Iron Age. Not only does the emerging Iron Age bring about the development of advancing technologies and discoveries, but it also provides opportunities for new societies to replace the fallen civilizations. Understanding the strengths of these rising societies can reveal what it took to be successful in the context of this time and place. Similarly, looking at the cultures of these empires can point out the importance of this period, in the way that religious, social, and political elements are carried on, preserved, and remain relevant in an entirely new environment. The combination of technological, environmental, political, military, and economic elements worked together to prompt the Bronze Age Collapse and eventually the downfall of the Hittite and Egyptian Empires. One of the more obvious characteristics differentiating the Bronze and Iron Ages is the sort of metal being most commonly used to construct technologies such as various weapons and tools, as the respective names imply. Historians believe that long periods of drought in the Eastern Mediterranean and in the area of the Fertile Crescent, along with destructive seismic activity near ancient Greece, led to damage to places of agricultural importance. Gottieb Daimler and Wilhelm Maybach, of Germany, fitted their engine into a stagecoach in 1886 (Kindersley, 2011, 10). They were both successful at creating the first four wheeled, gas engine vehicle. It reached a top speed of ten miles per hour. Each engine was still being fitted into stagecoaches (Kindersley, 2011, 10). The industrial revolution introduced a wide array of new ideas for the automobile. The ideas ranged from air cooled engines, single cylinder engines, steam powered engines, electric cars, to a vehicle with a sliding gear transmission (Kindersley, 11, 2011). Other ideas included overhead cam engines, and the introduction of the gearbox. One ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For the industry this became only the beginning. During the 1930 s, the world was gripped by the second World War which saw the industry, especially in Germany, being used to support ongoing war efforts again. The cars of Mercedes were adored by the Third Reich and the cars were being used by motor racing as well (Kindersley,15, 2011). This enabled the company more exposure later on. The 1930 s were hailed as a time of great challenge especially with the onslaught of The Great Depression. The world was met by the introduction of the station wagon and pick up truck in the 1940 s. • 10. The Effect Of Low Ph On Enzyme Activity Final Applied Lab Project: The effect of low pH on Enzyme Activity Thomas Long Biology 6380: Introduction to Biology (2155) Summer Semester Final Applied Lab Project Introduction What are Enzymes? Enzymes are proteins that initiate change. The enzymes found in the human body are naturally occurring. They catalyze, or accelerate, all normal biochemical reactions in the body. Enzymes are responsible for all metabolic functions and many are vital for life itself. These proteins are highly specific regarding what they do and under what conditions they do it (2015, Enzyme Institution). Similar to a glove and a hand, the enzyme and substrate must fit correctly in order to work. The reactions within cells are catalyzed by a specific type of proteins known as enzymes. Enzymes catalyze the rate of a specific reaction by recuing the amount of energy needed to get the chemical reaction started or the activation of energy. The activity of these enzymes is dependent upon several different things including the shape of the molecule, and specifically the concentration of the enzyme and substrate (hydrogen peroxide). This laboratory exercise will be conducted under a controlled environment to determine the influence of pH on the enzyme catalase. Differences Of Hegel And Nietzsche German philosophers Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel (1770 1831) and Friedrich Nietzsche (1844 1900) have traditionally been viewed as polar opposites in terms of their philosophy. Hegel has been dubbed an idealist and a systematic philosopher who identified various different types of History, theoretical entities and concepts. Nietzsche, on the other hand, is seen to be a counter Enlightenment and counter systematic philosopher who penned the well known text, Genealogy of Morals . Both thinkers find that negation is an integral part of identity formation. Hegel and Nietzsche both concur, in dialectical terms, Being is represented by the object , or Master, and the subject , or Slave, is constantly in the process of Becoming . Within the SCORE unit of the Kansas City, Kansas Police Department (KCKPD) at the time of the indictment, it was not clear if leaders set a tone of ethical conduct, nor did it appear that principled conduct was the cornerstone of the command leadership philosophy. Specifically, all ethical standards for Kansas City PoliceDepartment are derived from Wyandotte County Unified Government code of ethics and the police department lacks police specific philosophies toward ethical conduct (Unified Government Ordinance, 2009). Although, the International Chiefs of Police have established a code of honor adopted by many police departments, it is unclear bases on empirical information what KCKPD leadership expected of their Police officers. For instance, it is vital for executive to formulate as stated by Martin (2011), an agenda that explains the moral purposes of the department (para. 6). Therefore, not making an ethics based agenda and delivering a repetitive and deliberate focus on such an agenda to all levels is one failure by leadership to have contributed to creating a perceived environment of unethical conduct. • 21. Michael Jackson Sang The Famous Line, If You Wan Na Make... If humanity takes the time to sit down and internalize, one of the questions coming to mind has to do with why is it often afraid of change? Change is in fact a big theme in the 1987 hit song The Man in the Mirror (Appendix E), where the late artist Michael Jackson sang the famous line, If you wanna make the world a better place, take a look at yourself and make a change. Fast forward to a modern day 2016 filled with political unrest, poverty, and waning human rights, Michael Jackson s message of self reflection eventually translating into social change finds its relevancy today, despite the song s thirty years old tenure. It introduces the notion that all individuals in society are essentially human, even in spite of humanity s tendency to demonize other belief systems. Even Saint Mother Theresa agreed with this point, once saying that if we have no peace, it is because we have forgotten that we belong to each other. The only way to reconcile the fact that differences don t corrupt our humanity is in society s willingness to be flexible to different points of view and recognize the structures of prejudice in a modern context. What then is the harm in paring away our egos to realize that we all have something to bring to the table? Forms of art that even attempt to evoke this message of solidarity include poetry, which in itself is a free medium that poets utilize to express their thoughts and emotions. Here are some examples of the connections: First, the huge cost of elections today have spiralled out of control costing billions of dollars. This is creating the appearance that our leaders are puppets of specail interest groups. In the Roman Empire, towards the end the elections were costing staggering amounts and causing terrible results. Thus, weakening the system. Second, in the late Roman Empire the road to wealth was seen as being in the political arena. The Roman leaders would accumulate great amounts of personal wealth. Today the very same thing is happening across America with those who want to become very wealthy get into the politics and seek a seat either in Congress or the Presidency. The same can be said for America as in the last century we have had several wars and now the security of the nation is being challenged. Fourth, during the last years of the Roman Empire the leaders were given wealth from other nations to buy their influence to help them in return. The same is happening in America today as foreign powers send huge sums of money to our various leaders to gain their favor. The main character, Dom Cobb (Leonardo DiCaprio), possesses a skill that allows him to access the subconscious minds of sleeping people to observe their dreams and acquire information found only there. His behavior and practices are deviant in that they are abnormal, illegal in that world, and generally frowned upon; he also teaches others to do what he does extraction. The aftermath frightened and impacted the nation s reputation, and in order to measure the nature and extent of our policies, it is important to understand our efforts after this national attack on US soil. After researching further into the 9/11 attacks, clearly most of the money put into the war was wasted or misspent. Even though it was crucial going after the terrorists, especially since they had taken many lives and were capable to repeating their attack caused fear throughout the nation. It is important to signal out that the U.S. was attacked from a terrorist organization that had their focus on the U.S. for a long time. The impact that this served after 9/11 plays a clear role in defining the results of how these economic policies were taken into action. After looking over this tragic event in the U.S. history, there should have been a very high consideration towards how the money was going to be used in an effort to defeat terrorismbefore this event occurred. Thomas Alva Edison held more than 1,000 registered trademarks and is best remembered for inventing the phonograph or jukebox/stereo turntable in 1877. He also invented the first commercially successful electric light bulb two years later. Although Edison did not invent the light bulb, he developed a durable fiber/thread that made its use practical. Thomas Alva Edison was born on February 11, 1847 in Milan, Ohio, which was a community that was the largest wheat shipping center in the world other than Odessa,Russia. • 48. Army Tactical Wheeled Vehicle Strategy Does the high cost of the JLTV preclude it from replacing the HMMWV, as outlined in the 2010 U.S. Army Tactical Wheeled Vehicle Strategy? In September 2011, the Senate Appropriations Defense Subcommittee voted to cancel the Army and Marine Corps Joint Light Tactical Vehicle (JLTV) in their version of the fiscal year 2012 defense bill (Munoz, 2011). This measure could have completely shut down efforts to replace a thirty year old fleet of Humvees, loyal but potentially outmoded tactical wheeled vehicles. The Army s Modernized Expanded Capacity Vehicle program has been a project set to replace the High Mobility, Multi Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV) family in the works for years. The project, however, continues to be stymied by budgetary constraints. Per vehicle costs for the JLTV begin at $250,000 and are likely to climb, as Lockheed Martin secured a preliminary contract for engineering, design, and development. The high cost of the JLTV does preclude it from completely replacing the HMMWV, and yet cost does not preclude the JLTV from supplementing the Army s fleet. A middle ground solution is the best method of maximizing initial investments, while also banking on the robustness of national security. The primary argument against adopting the JLTV as a full replacement for the HMMWV is that the HMMWV remains viable, and that resources have already been diverted towards adapting and upgrading the fleet.
