A shatter zone used to be defined as a belt of randomly fissured or cracked rock that may be filled
with mineral deposits (Moon,pg 1). After World War two the meaning changed dramatically.
According to Moon and Talley, a shatter zone is now is borderlands where refugee populations
migrated in large numbers to escape the pressures of the state and/or the capitalist economies through
