Blood Doping In Sports
Blood doping in sports has been a controversial topic for some time now. Debating on whether it
should be legal have been plaguing experts for years. Some see doping as a major advantage to
athletes. Others see it as just another source of training. Even with all the controversy you can not help
but agree with the majority of experts; blood doping should stay illegal in sports. Blood doping is the
injection of oxygenated blood into an athlete before an event in an attempt to enhance athletic
performance. From most people s outlooks doping is natural. Blood doping is technically the same as
sleeping at high altitudes, or in oxygen tents. They all cause the proportion of oxygen carrying red
blood cells to rise. So if those are legal forms

Applying The New Framework For Hobby Lobby
With the compatibility standard, Congress and the Court can still choose to apply the least restrictive
method aspect of the Sherbert test but it becomes almost redundant at this point. Where the Sherbert
test assumes that religion and law are at odds such that ensuring government interest must somehow
infringe on free exercise, the compatibility test already assumes that law and religion live together in
harmony without overly restricting one or the other. Because of such an assumption, the least
restrictive method as a standard can be, but does not need to be applied.
Applying the new framework to Hobby Lobby reveals how granting the religious exemption to closely
held corporations can not only coexist with the government s interests of making sure female
employees have access to the four controversial contraceptives, but it also best ensures this interest.
For the sake of argument, let s first consider what would happen without the exemption. Closely held
corporations would have three choices. They could either ignore their religious convictions, provide
incomplete healthcare coverage by paying an extra $100 per day per employee fee, or offer no
coverage and pay $2000 per year per employee (11). However, these companies will almost never
choose to ignore their beliefs, therefore really only giving them the latter two choices. In the event of
the second choice, women would be offered no alternative, affordable healthcare option that grants
them access to the

Essay On Victor Frankenstein
This is what happened at the end of the Frankenstein story. The creature says Onto the ice, where I
shall build my funeral pyre. I shall rejoice in the torturing flames, and my ashes will be swept into the
sea by the winds. Farewell, Captain and farewell to you, Victor Frankenstein. Doomed as you were,
my agony was still greater than yours. He gets onto that ice that sparkles like shattered diamonds in
the night sky. He says that he will burst into flames because the sun is a fiery ball of fire, but the chill
of the sea water keeps him crisp. Young frankenstein floats away into the distance. He floats for what
seems like an eternity, he finally makes it to an island and he finds something there, he finds a young
fragile, beautiful woman. He spends what seems like a decade with her so he decides to make her his
wife. The ring he had carried with him for so long was absolutely beautiful, he s waited so long to
share this with the one he loves. The rock on that ring was worth enough to buy a magnificent house.
They soon come to the conclusion that they could have babies and had conceived triplets.1 beautiful
baby girl and 2 handsome baby boys, It was the longest 9 months of both of their lives. The babies

Jetstar Essay
Executive Summary
Jetstar Airways is an Australia low cost carrier airline based in Melbourne, Australia. It is a wholly
owned subsidiary of the Qantas Group. Qantas established Jetstar in 2003 as a response to main
competitor airline Virgin Australia (formerly known as Virgin Blue).
Despite its low cost, Jetstar operates an extensive domestic network and is the world s largest long
haul low cost carrier. Jetstar operates to destinations in Asia the Pacific Ocean, with future plans of
expanding their services throughout Europe.
Jetstar currently offers a limited number of connecting services without through baggage checking,
and it became the first Australia airline to allow customers to select their seat upon booking. The

Jetstar shares its parent s strong competition with Australia s biggest low cost carrier Virgin Australia.
Domestic travel accounts for 75% of the airline industry revenue in Australia (Taylor Woodings, 2011)
Market Potential
The market is currently in the decline stage. From 2007, Australian domestic air travel started with
buoyant demand for air travel and high fuel prices boosted ticket prices. However, domestic airlines
faced major hurdles when the global economic downturn hit. Higher unemployment and a decline in
discretionary income slowed demand for air travel in Australia. In particular, business travellers
abandon air travel in favour of teleconferences and e mail. Demand also weakened as Australians have
started to plan travelling internationally.
Market Structure
The domestic flights market can be considered as an oligopoly. The 3 main companies that have the
most market share are Virgin Australia, Jetstar and Tiger Airways Australia.

Demographic:
Australia is an underpopulated country and is also an ageing. However, over the years the numbers of

The Importance Of Mangroves In Australia
Mangroves are trees and shrubs that can be found along coastal intertidal zones in tropical and
subtropical areas near the equator due to their inability to survive in low temperatures. Mangroves are
found not only in australia but on coastlines all over the world and are distributed over 100 countries
in the tropical and sub tropical regions of the world. Australia contains the third largest area of
mangroves in the world after Indonesia and Brazil, totalling around 11,500 km2 representing
approximately 6.4% of the world s total mangrove area (Appendix A) (Mangrovewatch.com, 2017).
There are 73 different types of mangrove species in the world. 39 of these mangrove species dwell in
Australia. The intertidal zone or littoral zone, is the area that is exposed at low tide but is submerged
by seawater during high tide. Mangroves survive in salt water on sheltered muddy shores, because
they have adapted to the harsh abiotic conditions in order to survive in their area. Mangroves also
provide a habitat for marine organisms such as fish, crabs and yabbies. Furthermore they provide a
habitat for many land animals such as birds, pythons, lizards and crocodiles. How mangroves
contribute to the functioning of intertidal ecosystems will be discussed on this report.
Mangroves have a very important role in their ecosystem. Their niche includes protecting and
providing for many organisms. Mangroves are considered main producers in their complex food
system (Appendix B). The food chain

An Analysis Of Euripides The Suppliants
In The Suppliants, Euripides wrote, The people cannot form proper judgements and therefore cannot
rightly direct a state . Euripides is living in the midst of democracy in Athens; therefore his quote is a
critique of what is happening around him. In his quote, he is taking an anti democratic stance towards
the question of who is fit to rule. Euripides believes only one or few people should rule a state, as not
all are qualified or have the proper judgement to do so. However, people do rule the state, without
having to meet any arbitrary requirements to be fit to rule. The term proper judgement is highly
subjective and the notion that only a few have the ability to rule is simply paternalistic. The relative
success of ancient Athenian and contemporary Swiss direct democracy show that people do have the
ability to form proper judgments. It was Aristotle who once said man is a political animal , so it is in
human nature to be politically involved. In opposition, Plato describes the grave consequences of
placing the power into the one or the few in his ideal yet authoritarian state.
There are many issues with Euripides quote. Firstly, the term proper judgment is extremely abstract.
For instance, Machiavelli and Kant would have very different ideas on what proper judgment may be,
but both are thought to be notable political philosophers. The decisions rulers make will always be
criticized by one group of people, so it is difficult to say for certain if someone meets

Border Exchange In The 1950s
Let s put a title here! The 1950s, for those who were not white men, were a time of deep oppression
and are not looked back on fondly. However, John Benson argues that in regards to borders, the 1950s
was something of a golden age. Those years were defined by nearly uninhibited border crossing,
cooperation between Mexico and the United States, and the celebration of cross cultural relations.
Now, in 2017, the border is heavily militarized and border crossing is demonized. The 1970s marked a
shift in border control policies, and since then cross border relations have become more and more
strained. Cadava, in Standing on Common Ground: The Making of a Sunbelt Borderland noted that in
the post war era, the Good Neighbor policy shaped U.S. Mexico ... Show more content on

There is talk within the current administration concerning the necessity for the United States to build
the wall to separate ourselves from Mexico yet Donald Trump is not the first one to have suggested
this. Cattle had been part of the cross border exchange for an extended period of time, but in the 1950s
an outbreak of foot and mouth disease temporarily halted the cattle trade. A border fence was
proposed, so the possibility that the disease would spread could be contained. However, unlike today,
both Mexicans and Americans alike called the proposed fence a repulsive symbol of division that they
would not stand for. This fence would be an impediment to the flow of people who constantly
travelled between Mexico and the United States. This was exemplified through the department store,
Jácome s, which actively promoted cross border exchange. Situated in the heart of Tucson, Jácome s
was a gathering point for people living on both sides of the border as it was inviting to both Mexicans
and those living in the United States. The name of Jácome s store appealed to both groups of people.
Jácome kept the accent over the a in the name, which causes the name to be distinctly Spanish.
Meanwhile, the apostrophe makes the name distinctly English, since the apostrophe is not used in the
Spanish language. White clients from the United States were intrigued by Jácome s, because it was an
exotic, regionally authentic department store, while Mexican shoppers were drawn to Jácome s since it
was the store that welcomed them the most. Additionally, Jácome s accepted pesos as payment, rather
than requiring shoppers to exchange their pesos for US dollars before shopping. This allowed for
Mexican shoppers to feel more welcomed and at home while shopping at Jácome s, which further
expanded the cross border

ABSTRACT The obligation to provide free or reduced fare travel to passengers who redeem their
accrued frequent flyer program (FFP) benefits represents a significant liability on every major U.S.
airline s balance sheet. Major U.S. airlines employ one of two methods to account for the liabilities

CNBC estimated that over 15 trillion frequent flyer miles were outstanding as of May 2011 (Whitman,
2011). Today, major U.S. airlines employ one of two methods to account for FFP liabilities for
mileage credits earned by paying passengers: either the Deferred Revenue Method or the Incremental
Cost Method. The Deferred Revenue Method recognizes a liability for the fair value of the outstanding
mileage credits (with fair value defined under International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) as
the amount for which the award credits could be sold separately ) (KPMG, 2008). The Incremental
Cost Method recognizes a liability for the marginal cost of providing air transportation to eligible
award passengers (i.e. the cost of taxes, fuel, food, etc. to fly one additional passenger on a seat that
otherwise would have been empty generally a nominal amount). Incremental cost accounting has been
subject to scrutiny several times throughout the history of FFPs. Within the past few years airlines
have reduced seating capacity due to high fuel prices and weaker travel demand during the global
economic recession, causing flights to be fuller on average and increasing the chance that, for any
given seat, a passenger flying on redeemed frequent flyer miles could displace a fare paying passenger
(notwithstanding the fact that many airlines limit the number of seats eligible to be reserved using FFP

To eat beans today and steak tomorrow, or eat steak today and eat bean for the rest of your life is an

How I Taught My Friend Essay
My friend Ling asked me to help her with her English pronunciation at the beginning of this year. I
tutored her for two weeks and we did not have very official tutoring time; so mostly, we
communicated in English and I corrected her whenever I spotted a mistake. She is a Chinese girl who
comes from Chengdu, and she has problems producing some of the sounds. For example, she always
pronounces six as sex , which ultimately made her come to me since it kept embarrassing her. I first
taught her some basic pronouncing rules, and then we began the spotting then correcting session. After
reading Wiggins (2012) article about feedback, I think the way that I taught my friend was to have her
learn from the feedback. For example, one day when we were in Mexico City, we were talking about
how to make her pronunciation better.
She said, I don t know why I cannot prolounce (pronounce) certain sounds .
Then I corrected her, it s pronounce, not prolounce. It s an n not an L .
Then she tried, pro~l~oun~ce .
No, it s pro~n~oun~ce , I corrected her again.
Pronounce? Pronounce? , she looked at me with her eyes widely opened.
Yeah , I said.
But I cannot figure it out. What s the difference? she asked.
People in southern China always have difficulty differentiate N from L . So I taught her the two
sounds different tongue positions in the mouth. Then she became better but there were still times she
mispronounced them. I told her to be careful with these sounds for the

Three Characteristics Of The Earth, Moon, And Sun
The Earth, Moon, and Sun are three of the most unique and incredible celestial bodies in the entire
universe. Each serves a distinct purpose and has remarkable characteristics that allow them to work
and coincide with one another in such a complex way. All three bodies interact and work together to
create an organized and continuous system that scientists continue to research and study. There are
various processes and techniques the Earth, Moon, and Sun possess that help to identify and
characterise each one as well as the interactions between them. The interactions between the Earth,
Moon, and Sun manage the ocean s currents and tides, climate, weather, and seasons.
The Sun, a star, is hot ball of glowing gases at the center of our solar system (nasa.gov/sun). It s heat
and energy sustain the life we have on Earth. Without it, we would not be able to survive. The Sun
warms the entire planet, reaching the Earth s surface, oceans, and atmosphere. The heat and energy
from the Sun is what essentially drives the weather and climates (windows2universe.org). The
orientation of the Earth to the Sun is what creates the Earth s seasons. Depending on what hemisphere
you reside in, the season and weather patterns vary. If the hemisphere you live in is pointed towards
the Sun, it is summer. If it is directed away from the Sun, it is winter. This is due to the tilt of Earth s
axis.
However, the Sun not only impacts Earth, but the other planets and the rest of our solar system as

The Pros And Cons Of Allied Health
According to the Association of Schools of Allied Health Professions, Allied Health professionals
partake in the delivery of health care related services (What is Allied Health?, 2018). Allied health
professions are typically acquired in a relatively short amount of time through an accredited school.
Education can take anywhere from 8 weeks to 8 years, depending on what allied health profession is
being completed. Minorities typically seek allied health professions that can be completed in as short
as 8 weeks but not longer than 2 year. This choice is typically economical for minorities, however, the
question remains as to whether job security outweighs the low income an allied health position often
yields.

There are many ways to provide incentives for employees. They do not necessarily need to be a
financial incentive. There could be programs developed on a national scale to provide free education
for high school seniors to be able to complete a certificate program as part of their high school
education. The requirements can be a GPA of 3.5 or above and a letter of recommendation from their
guidance counselor. Another type of incentive can be to have a job secured once they complete their
education. Sign on bonuses always yield great outcomes.
Professional growth is most certainly important to individuals in any allied health profession. Often,
the limitation on the level of education required for an entry level allied health profession can hinder
professional growth. Tuition reimbursement is a great way to promote continuing education that
would lead to professional growth (Buchbinder Shanks, 2016). On the job training is also another way
to promote professional growth. Providing in house training sessions, mentorship programs or

Importance Of Colonialism In Death And The King s Horseman...
Colonialism is the act of gaining political control of another country and occupying it with settlers.
Communal disintegration is the tendency for society to decline over time due to the lapse of traditional
social support systems ( Colonialism ). The disintegration of a community can happen because of
many different kinds of reasons including colonialism. Colonialism can be seen as a cause of
communal disintegration in both Wole Soyinka s Death and the King s Horseman and Chinua Achebe
s Things Fall Apart.
Death and the King s Horseman by Wole Soyinka establishes a strong sense of community from the
beginning of the play. Elesin, the horseman, is going to commit a ritualistic suicide in order to lead the
king into the afterlife. According to Yoruban culture the entire world is interconnected and every
action has an impact on everything. This is why the entire community is very attentive to the ritual
that is going to happen. Elesin s suicide is a communal act not a personal one. His actions will affect
everyone, dead or alive, which demonstrates how connected the community is. In the story, we are
continuously shown that the colonist see suicide as a personal experience and cannot understand the
community s ritual. This is clearly shown when Olunde tells Jane Pilkings, you have no respect for
what you do not understand (Soyinka, Wole). Olunde is also a clear representation of a strong sense of
community within the play because he has studied in England, but maintains his

Character Analysis Of Mae Holland In The Circle
Mae Holland is an ambitious, intelligent young woman and the main character in Dave Eggers novel
The Circle. Although her character is paramount to telling the novel s main story (detailing the
prominence of the monopolistic, power hungry tech company known as The Circle ), she is hardly a
protagonist, with her being ill informed at best at the book s beginning, and complicit in the Circle s
nefarious doings by the novel s conclusion. Mae is an exceptionally bland character who offers little
interesting internal dialogue and who s only notable overarching character trait is her ever present
insecurity and her need to please others. Arguably, it could be said that Mae truly is not the main
character of The Circle at all; Rather The Circle company itself, or more precisely Mae s relationship
with the The Circle (and by association its dystopian philosophies) are what take center stage. As a
character, Mae is malleable; a clean slate waiting to take orders and eager to agree with her superiors,
she yearns for attention from others, is figuratively trapped inside The Circle s elaborate campus, and
acts as a mouthpiece for the The Circle s leaders; repeating whatever they want her to say. Due to the
fact that Mae Holland possess these characteristics, she is comparable to a parrot.
The same way a parrot enters its cage with a blank mind, devoid of any calls or phrases, Mae
approaches her job at The Circle with an open mind, not influenced by any previous work experiences.
When thinking of the occupation she previously held prior to working at The Circle, Mae expresses
extreme discontent. Her final day at the public utility in her hometown had been only three weeks ago
they d been stupefied when she gave notice but it already seemed impossible that she wasted so much
of her life there. Good riddance, Mae thought, to that gulag and all it represented (pg 4). The passage
above indicates that Mae loathed her previous job, considering it a waist of her life and likening it to a
gulag . This shows that Mae felt little passion or allegiance to her old job, and thus approaches her
new job at The Circle with a blank mind, not considering her previous experiences valuable to her in
any way.

What is Digital Images
DIGITAL IMAGES are electronic snapshots taken of a scene or scanned from documents, such as
photographs, manuscripts, printed texts, and artwork. The digital image is sampled and mapped as a
grid of dots or picture elements (pixels). Each pixel is assigned a total value (black, white, shades of
gray or color), which is represented in binary code (zeros and ones). The binary digits ( bits ) for each
pixel are stored in a sequence by a computer and often reduced to a mathematical analog version for
display or printing. http://preservationtutorial.library.cornell.edu/intro/intro 01.html

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Ambextrous
What are the advantages and disadvantages of Ambidextrous and Sinistral in a dexterous world?
Throughout the history, there are a lot of debates about which is right handed or left handed, even
ambidextrous better. This issue has been argued and resulted in many sides by not only scientist but
also psychologist, because it decides to succeed in life. In the following essay, the benefits and the
drawbacks of this problem will be discussed.
Let s begin by looking at some definitions. Sinistral people are left handed dominance, which means
they prefer to write and manipulate with left hand. While ambidextrous people are able to do tasks
equally well with both hands. According to Carey (Right Handed or Left, n. d), the survey found that

Results showed that the 7 8 years old ambidextrous children acted like right handed peers, but had

children also have twice the risk of ADHD symptom. ADHD stands for Attention Deficit /
Hyperactivity Disorder, which means children have difficulty sustaining attention, troubled
relationships, impulsive behavior and also struggle with low self esteem and perform badly at school
(Ambidextrous children may have more problems in school, 2010). Those results may make the
ambidextrous children s parents disappointed and worried. Despite those results, Crow claimed that
ambidextrous children just develop later than others, otherwise, they might have a completely

Ap Biology Chapter 1 Essay
1. Before, biologists assumed all microbes are bad for the human body (automatically thought of
pathogens), caused many diseases and harm our body fundamental systems. In addition, the biologists
think that our body is already built which had all the functions required to maintain our health.
However, the attitude has changed over the last decade. The biologists characterized the most
prevalent species of microbes in the body, and found out that these collective microbes do not threaten
us, and they also are important part of human bodies.

These are some of the proposed functions of our microbiome. First of all, scientists have known for
years that gut bacteria break down certain components of good that would otherwise be indigestible
and would pass out of the body unused. In addition, Bacteroides thetaiotaomicron breaks down
carbohydrate, also capable of breaking down the large, complex carbohydrates found in plant. It also

Marketing Research and Marketing Mix
Introduction Marketing research also known as consumer research comprises an element of applied
sociological case study which focuses on understanding consumers the behaviors, notions and
preferences. This mostly deals with the present and future of consumers in an economy that depends
on the market. Marketing research is done by companies to study their customers and other
businesses. It seeks to find the best methods of connecting with consumers and a commodity, with the
expectations that the customer will buy. This involved assessing the present marketing presently being
undertaken for that commodity or similar products created by the same firm.
Types of marketing research mechanisms The process assists in determining how efficient the
marketing campaigns are operating. This also includes studying the marketing methods used by other
companies. There are two main types of marketing research mechanisms termed as B2B which means
business to business, as well as business to consumer (B2C).The techniques are two diverse entities
hence there is an urgent need to make use of different assessment techniques to the challenges that
both the entities face (Dant Brown 2008). The market of B2B is businesses, while B2C are customers.
Despite the foundation, of both marketing strategies being the same, method of execution and the
outcome strategies differ. The marketing mix of the strategies is often affected by the degree of
complication in marketing using a consumer and a

and sinful character is completed when she grows black wings and slams her mother s hand in her
door. During the performance, Nina gets into an altercation with herself and stabs herself in the pure
White Swan costume. Andrew transforms into one of the greats as he is embarrassed by Fletcher on
stage. They both have their careers riding on their performances. They both fail to begin with; Andrew
not knowing the chart the rest of the band is playing and Nina falling during act I of Swan Lake. Yet
their greatness is proven when they give the final goodbye to their parental figures and former youth.
Andrew runs off stage, hugs his dad and his former reality, as he knows his life will never be what it
once was. Nina exchanges eye contact with her crying mother as she looks proudly onto her daughter
dancing like she never could.
Tchaikovsky s climactic music plays in the background as Nina takes out the broken piece of mirror

Essay On Missouri Compromise
The Missouri Compromise
What is the Missouri compromise? The Missouri compromise was an effort by the senate and the
house of representative to maintain a balance of power between the slaveholding states and free states.
There was a long debate whether or not missouri was going to become a state or not, but that changed
when Maine became a state. They did this so that there would still be an equal balance between the
slave states and the free states. The Missouri compromise happened during the time of 1820 1821. By
1818 the Missouri territory had gained an immense amount of population to gain admission into the
United States as a State. The people of Missouri came mostly from the south. It was expected that it
would become a slave state. The statehood bill was brought before the ... Show more content on

This happened because Alabama became part of the U.S. as a slave state. This had brought the slave
states and the free states to an equal amount. So in order to keep this Maine had to be a free state and
Missouri had to be a slave state. This was so that the balance would be kept between all the free and
slave states. This was the only way to accept Missouri in as a state. There was an anti Missouri group.
It arose from the genuine conviction that slavery was morally wrong. Many of the leaders of the anti
Missouri group men had been active in the federalist party which seemed to be in the process of
disintegration. The Federalist leaders of the anti Missouri group caused some northern Democrats to
rethink their support of the Tallmadge amendment and to favour a compromise that would thwart
efforts to revive the Federalist party.
When the senate allowed Maine to enter the United States as a free state and Missouri as a free state
Sen. Jesse B. Thomas of Illinois had added to the amendment that allowed Missouri to be a slave state
had banned slavery in the rest of the Louisiana Purchase north of latitude

Marx And Engels s Views On Female Oppression
Marx and Engels both contributed largely to the development of the idea of communism and class
struggle and within this framework of ideas consisted an explanation of the struggles between men
and women throughout history. Although Marx and Engels would classify feminist issues about
female oppression over time as simply another aspect of class struggle, they nonetheless explained the
development of female oppression using terms such as matrilieality, patriarchy, monogamy and class
society. These are a few terms that Marx and Engels, specifically Engels, employed to theorize female
oppression. In order to explain women s role in society, Marx and Engels postulated that the
development of private property and the class society that the ... Show more content on

In these communal societies, women were viewed as equal because the work they devoted to child
bearing and rearing were seen as equally important to the subsistence of the community as the work
that men did. (Book, 135) Because of the egalitarian structure in these societies as well as the common
practice of those who make decisions having to carry out those choices themselves, women were
given equal decision making responsibility. In addition to having responsibilities regarding making
important decisions for the community, matrilineal descent was common in these communal societies.
Engels explained these mother right societies as being based on the need for explanation of descent
when children s fathers were unknown. (Book, 135) In this communal structure of society, women
were recognized for their equal importance in labor and as a result maintained equal importance in
public life. Engels next step in the evolution of the subjugation of women is the development of
private property ownership as a result of increased production of wealth. Because men were the ones
accumulating the wealth they gained an increased position in their families, eventually leading to
patrilineal descent being the dominant form of descent rather than matrilineal. Along with this change
came a shift to monogamy in which each individual only has one

Philip Zimbardo Stanford Prison Experiment
For decades, researchers have debated the different aspects of human behavior. In 1971, psychologist
Philip Zimbardo conducted the controversial Stanford Prison Experiment in a mock correctional
facility, located in the basement of Stanford University. With the help of the Palo Alto Police and
twenty four male subjects, Zimbardo unearthed the amorality and darkness [that can] inhabit the
human psyche when one is expected to follow a prescribed role. After choosing 24 male subjects,
Zimbardo randomly separated the men into two groups. One group was composed of twelve guards,
and the other of twelve prisoners. The article Stanford Prison Experiment contributed to the idea that,
Philip Zimbardo s experiment raised many questions concerning a humans ethical integrity.

Marble is a metamorphic rock. Marble is placed among the oldest part of earth crust. Marble is a
translucent stone that allows light to enter and produce glow. Marble is non foliated and uniform in
structure. Marble is primarily white in color. Pure marble is composed of mineral calcite. (Nave) It is
available in many other colors as well. Impurities in marble give it different colors ranging from white
to black. (Nave)These impurities are present at the time of formation of marble. Marble is a beautiful
and relative soft stone. Since ancient times marble is part of flooring and statue making. Now a days it
is used as building material especially for bath tubs and sink tops. Marble is a very hard rock than its
parent rock. This makes polishing marble easier and a useful material for construction. (Metamorphic
Rocks)
Marble is made up by the regional metamorphism of dolomite and limestone rock. A lot of pressure
applied to the limestone over a very long period of time form marble. High temperature and pressure
turns limestone crystal into smaller, finer and harder crystals. Extended duration of metamorphism

The Reasoning And Significance Of The Emancipation...
Professor Zupon
History 101
08 November 2017
President Abraham Lincoln was a bold individual who acted on what he felt was ethically correct.
Despite congress being against his wishes, he did not waiver in what he believed in. This courage is
very difficult to find even to this day. This was a time when the country was at war. President Lincoln
had just lost his son Willie to typhoid in February of 1862. (CivilWar.Org Staff 2017) When
everything seemed to be going wrong President Lincoln committed an act that would make him
known for all time. Throughout this essay, an understanding of the reasoning and significance of the
proclamation that was developed by an individual [President Lincoln] that was bound by his own

President Lincoln proposed the proclamation to his cabinet in 1862, but a majority of the members had
concerns that the decision to move forward would be too drastic. As stated before it was Lincoln s
dedication to his ethical values and not giving up on his pursuit for a better America.
The Battle of Antietam (also known as Sharpsburg) stopped the pursuit of the Confederate Army
trying to enter into Virginia and is known as one of the bloodiest one day battles in America. (NPS.gov
Staff 2017) On 17 September 1862 23,000 soldiers were killed, wounded or missing after twelve
hours of savage combat. (NPS.gov Staff 2017) This battle helped President Lincoln gain support for
the Emancipation Proclamation. Even though the battle was deemed a draw and no winner was
declared. The Secretary of State William Seward proposed to Lincoln that the Union should look at
the battle as a victory and be used as a reason for the proclamation to be enforced and issued the
proclamation five days

Why Companies Use Artificial Trans Fat
Most people consume 25 35 percent of their total daily calorie count from fat; however, only 10
percent should come from saturated fats. There are two different types of trans fat, artificial and
naturally occurring. In order to make artificial trans fat, an industrial process adds hydrogen to liquid
vegetable oil, to make it more solid. This type of trans fat raises the LDL (bad) cholesterol level and
lowers the HDL (good) cholesterol levels. This increases the risk of heart disease and stroke, which
are the leading killers of both men and women, and is associated with a higher risk of developing type
II diabetes. Artificial trans fat doesn t help the body in any way; however, the one counterexample is
naturally occurring trans fat. Naturally ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The reason companies use artificial trans fat instead of naturally occurring trans fat is because of a few
reasons. One reason is because naturally occurring trans fat is produced in the gut of some animals
and food made from these animals, making it hard to get. Artificial trans fat is easy to obtain and is
inexpensive. Another reason companies use artificial trans fat is because it gives food a more desirable
taste and texture, making the food more addicting. Most fast food restaurants use this trans fat to deep
fry their food. By doing this, the oil can be used many times in commercial fryers, instead of having to
constantly change the oil. Some of the foods that contain artificial trans fat are baked goods, snacks,
fried food, any type of refrigerated dough, creamer and margarine. When looking at the nutrition facts
panel of these foods, 0 grams trans fat could mean that the product contains anywhere between 0
grams and 0.5 grams trans fat. Even if the package says 0 grams trans fat, by looking at the ingredients
list a person can tell if the product has trans fat. If the ingredients list says partially hydrogenated oils
then the product contains trans

serving time in a New England prison named Shawshank. Tim Robbins plays a man named Andy
Dufresne, a banker, who gets convicted of murdering his wife and her lover and is sent to prison in
Shawshank. Andy eventually becomes good friends with a fellow convict by the name of Ellis Boyd

The climax within this movie is disguised until the last scenes, constantly building suspense for the
viewer and drawing the viewer in. Narrated by the prisoner, Red, played by Morgan Freeman, the film
expounded upon characters from a unique point of view. By having Red narrate, the audience quickly
identifies with the prisoners, there are certain common traits that the characters and audience share
that produce sympathy for the incarcerated criminals.
Overall, Darabont uses affective methods of filming, causing the audience to feel Andy Dufresne
desperation, sense of hopelessness, and finally his exaltation after escaping from prison. The
Shawshank Redemption is an excellent depiction of a prisoner s sense of despondency and extreme
determination to overcome any given situation. Each aspect of this film was essential for the outcome,
and the reason for its success. The outstanding directing style, admirable cinematography, and
gripping screenplay, were all principal factors in this films successfulness and

  • 2. Blood Doping In Sports Blood doping in sports has been a controversial topic for some time now. Debating on whether it should be legal have been plaguing experts for years. Some see doping as a major advantage to athletes. Others see it as just another source of training. Even with all the controversy you can not help but agree with the majority of experts; blood doping should stay illegal in sports. Blood doping is the injection of oxygenated blood into an athlete before an event in an attempt to enhance athletic performance. From most people s outlooks doping is natural. Blood doping is technically the same as sleeping at high altitudes, or in oxygen tents. They all cause the proportion of oxygen carrying red blood cells to rise. So if those are legal forms ... • 3. Applying The New Framework For Hobby Lobby With the compatibility standard, Congress and the Court can still choose to apply the least restrictive method aspect of the Sherbert test but it becomes almost redundant at this point. Where the Sherbert test assumes that religion and law are at odds such that ensuring government interest must somehow infringe on free exercise, the compatibility test already assumes that law and religion live together in harmony without overly restricting one or the other. Because of such an assumption, the least restrictive method as a standard can be, but does not need to be applied. Applying the new framework to Hobby Lobby reveals how granting the religious exemption to closely held corporations can not only coexist with the government s interests of making sure female employees have access to the four controversial contraceptives, but it also best ensures this interest. For the sake of argument, let s first consider what would happen without the exemption. Closely held corporations would have three choices. They could either ignore their religious convictions, provide incomplete healthcare coverage by paying an extra $100 per day per employee fee, or offer no coverage and pay $2000 per year per employee (11). However, these companies will almost never choose to ignore their beliefs, therefore really only giving them the latter two choices. In the event of the second choice, women would be offered no alternative, affordable healthcare option that grants them access to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Domestic travel accounts for 75% of the airline industry revenue in Australia (Taylor Woodings, 2011) Market Potential The market is currently in the decline stage. From 2007, Australian domestic air travel started with buoyant demand for air travel and high fuel prices boosted ticket prices. However, domestic airlines faced major hurdles when the global economic downturn hit. Higher unemployment and a decline in discretionary income slowed demand for air travel in Australia. In particular, business travellers abandon air travel in favour of teleconferences and e mail. Demand also weakened as Australians have started to plan travelling internationally. Market Structure The domestic flights market can be considered as an oligopoly. The 3 main companies that have the most market share are Virgin Australia, Jetstar and Tiger Airways Australia. Trends Demographic: Australia is an underpopulated country and is also an ageing. However, over the years the numbers of migrants have been increasing. The Importance Of Mangroves In Australia Mangroves are trees and shrubs that can be found along coastal intertidal zones in tropical and subtropical areas near the equator due to their inability to survive in low temperatures. Mangroves are found not only in australia but on coastlines all over the world and are distributed over 100 countries in the tropical and sub tropical regions of the world. Australia contains the third largest area of mangroves in the world after Indonesia and Brazil, totalling around 11,500 km2 representing approximately 6.4% of the world s total mangrove area (Appendix A) (Mangrovewatch.com, 2017). There are 73 different types of mangrove species in the world. 39 of these mangrove species dwell in Australia. The intertidal zone or littoral zone, is the area that is exposed at low tide but is submerged by seawater during high tide. Mangroves survive in salt water on sheltered muddy shores, because they have adapted to the harsh abiotic conditions in order to survive in their area. Mangroves also provide a habitat for marine organisms such as fish, crabs and yabbies. Furthermore they provide a habitat for many land animals such as birds, pythons, lizards and crocodiles. How mangroves contribute to the functioning of intertidal ecosystems will be discussed on this report. Mangroves have a very important role in their ecosystem. Their niche includes protecting and providing for many organisms. Mangroves are considered main producers in their complex food system (Appendix B). The food chain ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. An Analysis Of Euripides The Suppliants In The Suppliants, Euripides wrote, The people cannot form proper judgements and therefore cannot rightly direct a state . Euripides is living in the midst of democracy in Athens; therefore his quote is a critique of what is happening around him. In his quote, he is taking an anti democratic stance towards the question of who is fit to rule. Euripides believes only one or few people should rule a state, as not all are qualified or have the proper judgement to do so. However, people do rule the state, without having to meet any arbitrary requirements to be fit to rule. The term proper judgement is highly subjective and the notion that only a few have the ability to rule is simply paternalistic. The relative success of ancient Athenian and contemporary Swiss direct democracy show that people do have the ability to form proper judgments. It was Aristotle who once said man is a political animal , so it is in human nature to be politically involved. In opposition, Plato describes the grave consequences of placing the power into the one or the few in his ideal yet authoritarian state. There are many issues with Euripides quote. Firstly, the term proper judgment is extremely abstract. For instance, Machiavelli and Kant would have very different ideas on what proper judgment may be, but both are thought to be notable political philosophers. The decisions rulers make will always be criticized by one group of people, so it is difficult to say for certain if someone meets ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Border Exchange In The 1950s Let s put a title here! The 1950s, for those who were not white men, were a time of deep oppression and are not looked back on fondly. However, John Benson argues that in regards to borders, the 1950s was something of a golden age. Those years were defined by nearly uninhibited border crossing, cooperation between Mexico and the United States, and the celebration of cross cultural relations. Now, in 2017, the border is heavily militarized and border crossing is demonized. The 1970s marked a shift in border control policies, and since then cross border relations have become more and more strained. There is talk within the current administration concerning the necessity for the United States to build the wall to separate ourselves from Mexico yet Donald Trump is not the first one to have suggested this. Cattle had been part of the cross border exchange for an extended period of time, but in the 1950s an outbreak of foot and mouth disease temporarily halted the cattle trade. A border fence was proposed, so the possibility that the disease would spread could be contained. However, unlike today, both Mexicans and Americans alike called the proposed fence a repulsive symbol of division that they would not stand for. This fence would be an impediment to the flow of people who constantly travelled between Mexico and the United States. This was exemplified through the department store, Jácome s, which actively promoted cross border exchange. Situated in the heart of Tucson, Jácome s was a gathering point for people living on both sides of the border as it was inviting to both Mexicans and those living in the United States. The name of Jácome s store appealed to both groups of people. Jácome kept the accent over the a in the name, which causes the name to be distinctly Spanish. Meanwhile, the apostrophe makes the name distinctly English, since the apostrophe is not used in the Spanish language. White clients from the United States were intrigued by Jácome s, because it was an exotic, regionally authentic department store, while Mexican shoppers were drawn to Jácome s since it was the store that welcomed them the most. Additionally, Jácome s accepted pesos as payment, rather than requiring shoppers to exchange their pesos for US dollars before shopping. CNBC estimated that over 15 trillion frequent flyer miles were outstanding as of May 2011 (Whitman, 2011). Today, major U.S. airlines employ one of two methods to account for FFP liabilities for mileage credits earned by paying passengers: either the Deferred Revenue Method or the Incremental Cost Method. The Deferred Revenue Method recognizes a liability for the fair value of the outstanding mileage credits (with fair value defined under International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) as the amount for which the award credits could be sold separately ) (KPMG, 2008). The Incremental Cost Method recognizes a liability for the marginal cost of providing air transportation to eligible award passengers (i.e. the cost of taxes, fuel, food, etc. to fly one additional passenger on a seat that otherwise would have been empty generally a nominal amount). Incremental cost accounting has been subject to scrutiny several times throughout the history of FFPs. Within the past few years airlines have reduced seating capacity due to high fuel prices and weaker travel demand during the global economic recession, causing flights to be fuller on average and increasing the chance that, for any given seat, a passenger flying on redeemed frequent flyer miles could displace a fare paying passenger (notwithstanding the fact that many airlines limit the number of seats eligible to be reserved using FFP ... Each serves a distinct purpose and has remarkable characteristics that allow them to work and coincide with one another in such a complex way. All three bodies interact and work together to create an organized and continuous system that scientists continue to research and study. There are various processes and techniques the Earth, Moon, and Sun possess that help to identify and characterise each one as well as the interactions between them. The interactions between the Earth, Moon, and Sun manage the ocean s currents and tides, climate, weather, and seasons. The Sun, a star, is hot ball of glowing gases at the center of our solar system (nasa.gov/sun). It s heat and energy sustain the life we have on Earth. Without it, we would not be able to survive. The Sun warms the entire planet, reaching the Earth s surface, oceans, and atmosphere. The heat and energy from the Sun is what essentially drives the weather and climates (windows2universe.org). The orientation of the Earth to the Sun is what creates the Earth s seasons. Depending on what hemisphere you reside in, the season and weather patterns vary. If the hemisphere you live in is pointed towards the Sun, it is summer. If it is directed away from the Sun, it is winter. This is due to the tilt of Earth s axis. Communal disintegration is the tendency for society to decline over time due to the lapse of traditional social support systems ( Colonialism ). The disintegration of a community can happen because of many different kinds of reasons including colonialism. Colonialism can be seen as a cause of communal disintegration in both Wole Soyinka s Death and the King s Horseman and Chinua Achebe s Things Fall Apart. Death and the King s Horseman by Wole Soyinka establishes a strong sense of community from the beginning of the play. Elesin, the horseman, is going to commit a ritualistic suicide in order to lead the king into the afterlife. According to Yoruban culture the entire world is interconnected and every action has an impact on everything. This is why the entire community is very attentive to the ritual that is going to happen. Elesin s suicide is a communal act not a personal one. His actions will affect everyone, dead or alive, which demonstrates how connected the community is. In the story, we are continuously shown that the colonist see suicide as a personal experience and cannot understand the community s ritual. • 17. Character Analysis Of Mae Holland In The Circle Mae Holland is an ambitious, intelligent young woman and the main character in Dave Eggers novel The Circle. Although her character is paramount to telling the novel s main story (detailing the prominence of the monopolistic, power hungry tech company known as The Circle ), she is hardly a protagonist, with her being ill informed at best at the book s beginning, and complicit in the Circle s nefarious doings by the novel s conclusion. Mae is an exceptionally bland character who offers little interesting internal dialogue and who s only notable overarching character trait is her ever present insecurity and her need to please others. Arguably, it could be said that Mae truly is not the main character of The Circle at all; Rather The Circle company itself, or more precisely Mae s relationship with the The Circle (and by association its dystopian philosophies) are what take center stage. As a character, Mae is malleable; a clean slate waiting to take orders and eager to agree with her superiors, she yearns for attention from others, is figuratively trapped inside The Circle s elaborate campus, and acts as a mouthpiece for the The Circle s leaders; repeating whatever they want her to say. Due to the fact that Mae Holland possess these characteristics, she is comparable to a parrot. The same way a parrot enters its cage with a blank mind, devoid of any calls or phrases, Mae approaches her job at The Circle with an open mind, not influenced by any previous work experiences. When thinking of the occupation she previously held prior to working at The Circle, Mae expresses extreme discontent. Her final day at the public utility in her hometown had been only three weeks ago they d been stupefied when she gave notice but it already seemed impossible that she wasted so much of her life there. Good riddance, Mae thought, to that gulag and all it represented (pg 4). The passage above indicates that Mae loathed her previous job, considering it a waist of her life and likening it to a gulag . (Book, 135) Because of the egalitarian structure in these societies as well as the common practice of those who make decisions having to carry out those choices themselves, women were given equal decision making responsibility. In addition to having responsibilities regarding making important decisions for the community, matrilineal descent was common in these communal societies. Engels explained these mother right societies as being based on the need for explanation of descent when children s fathers were unknown. (Book, 135) In this communal structure of society, women were recognized for their equal importance in labor and as a result maintained equal importance in public life.
