2. Beloved Essay
Oftentimes, one can get too caught up in familial matters or personal issues, and as a result,
something as simple as providing another with love and value can be long forgotten. Both
novels take place in Ohio during late 1980 s to the early 1930 s. In Beloved, the protagonist
Sethe continuously mentions how she wishes her mother would have put more effort into their
relationship.. Most days, Sethe would only see her mother for one or two hours. Her mother
was always busy working in the hot and musty rice field. Sethe felt like her mother never really
loved her and did not care much for her well being either. Sethe expresses her sadness: Sunday s
she slept like a stick. She must of nursed me two or three weeks that s the way the others did....

This quote shows that Sethe never had the opportunity to feel her mother s compassion or
affection, more commonly known as a mother s love . This love is often personified in a mother
who will lay down her life for her child. It is known as a selfless sacrifice. Sethe s mother was
always working and never had time to spend with her, let alone time to nurse her. One could say
Sethe s relationship with her mother was non existent, Sethe constantly reminds herself how she
felt abandoned when she was younger. She had to be nursed by Nan, a women who s job was to
breastfeed children of the whites as well as other fellow slaves. Nan had to nurse white babies
and me too because Ma am was in the rice. The little white babies got it first and I got what was
left. Or none. There was no nursing milk to call my own (Morrison, Beloved, 200). Put differently,
Sethe did not have the opportunity to create a special mother daughter bond that most mothers
create with their child, to ensure the child s protection and enrich their development. Therefore she
was not given a shot to be a real daughter to anyone, she had no support or love from the only
family she had, which was her

3. Workchoices Act Australia
1.1 GOVERNMENT AND ORGANISATIONAL INPUT Ryan and Herod (2006, p.494) indicates
that the WorkChoices act contributed to the decline of union membership in Australia. Prior to the
commencement of the act, the rights of employers and employees were regulated by industrial
tribunals, unions and employment associations. It is detailed that the primary intentions of the
WorkChoices act was to limit the power and influence of unions and support individual bargaining
in contractual agreements. It is also argued that regulations could only be altered or changed by
these counterparts, with the input of lawyers (Bray and Waring 2006, p.46), which proved to be
time consuming (Howe 2013, p.138). In addition to this, it is highlighted that many employment...

Chang, Travaglione and O Neill (2017, p.651) propose something similar, explaining that many
join unions as a result of negative experiences in the workplace. Marchington et al. (2016, p.299)
builds on this, and suggests that employees use this to have power in negotiations. It is argued that
union members have a stronger voice in negotiating benefits, such as work hours, health insurance
and sick leave. The Australian Council of Trade Unions (ACTU) argues that those who are with a
union enjoy a better salary, suggesting that are under an agreement earn around $100 more per

members typically earn more money, but also have higher levels of satisfaction, as employees have

Introduction
The research report I read was called Fetal Testosterone Predicts Sexually Differentiated Childhood

Knickmeyer, Kevin Taylor, Gerald Hackett, and Melissa Hines. This research report discussed the
use of fetal testosterone measured from amniotic fluid relates positively to male typical scores on a

documentation of the results that they found. They used several methods to help conclude this

these and some controllable variables and predictor variables they found that there was a significant

5. The Negative Human Impacts On The Oceans
The Negative Human Impacts on the Oceans It was Mihaljo Mesarovic, the author of Mankind at
the Turning Point , who once said The Earth has cancer and the cancer is man . He was definitely
onto something. In fact, humans have had a major negative impact on the world s marine
environment. Throughout recent human history, it has been obvious that the wellbeing of the
marine environment has been in jeopardy. Pollution of the ocean, overfishing and the greenhouse
gases these are all the aspects that can cause the destroying of the precious environments, such as
reefs, sea grass and coastal habitats. According to the essay and interview Seafarming at the End of
the World , written by Peter Meehan, he presents the fact that human impact on the ocean is the
main reason that causes the awful situation of marine ecosystem and organisms. Although the ocean
covers approximately two thirds of the Earth s surface, it is surprisingly susceptible to human
influences. The effects of rubbish dumping have tainted our oceans and they have taken their toll
on the vast marine environments and the populations in which they contain. Rubbish dumping
involves depositing all the waste materials from factories and industries, tankers and ships and
sewerage waste materials into the oceans and seas. In the report Causes and Effects of Ocean
Dumping , the author Sharda states that The wastes that are dumped into the oceans tend to have
toxic substances which soak in all the oceanic oxygen. This

Myth and Mythology have always been among the elements which shape the lives of individuals
and the working mechanism of societies. Margaret Atwood uses in her works every possible

employment of nature and animal imagery in her poems and novels. Her novel s The Penelopid

boarding school in the 1950 s. The film stars Robin Williams in one of his first non comical roles.
The movie s primary focus is exploring the teacher/student relationship. In Dead Poets Society,
Robin Williams character, Mr. Keating, endeavors to develop the young men s passion for music,

Furthermore, whenever the boys are in the school building, their lives are gloomy. Whereas
when they venture off into nature, they tend to become more independent and more inspired

school. According to shmoop.com, the young men do not have a sense of excitement until they
are venturing off from Welton Academy (Shmoop University). In the movie, Knox Overstreet
went off to a high school that was in town to see a girl. From the first time he meets her, he felt
he loved her. The high school was very different from the academy. The lockers in the hallway
were bright yellow, the cars in the parking lot were bright, all the students were wearing non
uniform clothing, etc. (Shmoop University). Dead Poets Society overall is a serious movie, but
the directors and producers were able to use different colors and textures to show the seriousness
of Welton Academy. Another characteristic of Dead Poets Society is suspense. Mr Keating was
an unknown character at the beginning of the film. The only understanding of his personality is
what he reveals throughout the film. The unknown creates suspense. Will he come into the
classroom dressed as a character of literature or will he take the boys outside to a recreational
field to explore life while playing soccer? Another setting of suspense is when the young men

The Importance of Nutrition and Sleeping Habits In The Classroom

children and adolescents to perform well in the classroom so that they get the most out of their
education. Having poor sleeping habits or poor eating habits can have many harmful effects on a
child s classroom performance. If children have good eating habits as well as good sleeping habits

School meals are now being made healthier so that children can practice good nutrition skills.
Children of all socioeconomic levels are at risk for poor nutrition. Some children do not get
enough to eat each day because their families lack money to buy sufficient food. Other children
consume enough food but have diets high in fat, sugar, and sodium that put them at risk for
obesity or heart disease and other chronic illnesses ( ). These poor diets can harm a child s
classroom performance and impede their learning ability. Poor nutrition among children in America
is on the rise. This is due, in part, to poor eating habits like skipping meals, overeating, working
parents eating on the run, and fast food establishments ( ). These factors not only cause a child
health problems but also impedes their learning. If a child cannot use his cognitive abilities to the
fullest it will be harder to learn, participate in class, and function properly throughout the day.
Inadequate nutrition affects the long term development of the child ( ). This could be detrimental to
a child all the way into adulthood. Poor eating habits could persist into college and then hinder them
from being as productive as they could

When a central power comes in and dominates the surrounding land and people it is referred to as

The Grand Coulee Dam and the reactors of Hanford mentioned in the poem suggests that the
European technological advances disrupted the traditions of the Indian tribe. The dam may have
provided energy for the Europeans but for the native Indian tribe it flooded hunting grounds and
prevented the salmon, a sacred animal to the tribe, from reaching them upstream. The reactors
produced many negative effects on the surrounding environment as well. When the Indian in the
poem destroys the dam, the flood waters seemingly remove the evidence of imposing colonizers.
The salmon is able to swim back upstream, past the flooded cities, broken dams and abandoned

13. Disadvantages Of Costas
Spain is the fourth largest country in Europe and due to its extensive Mediterranean coastline and
mild climate, it offers the discerning tourist a wide variety of resorts that are guaranteed to please.
There is something for everyone, whatever their specific holiday requirements, but sun worshippers
and water sports enthusiasts alike are well catered for. Due to the availability of cheap flights and
holiday packages, and an average of two to three hours flight duration from most northern European
airports, Spaincontinues to be one of the most popular holiday destinations on the planet.
Apart from the Costa Verde (Green Coast), the Costa Vasca in northern Spain, and The Costa
Galicia in the north west, the most popular Spanish coastal resorts for sun seekers continue along
the entire east coast of mainland Spain, stretching from the French to the Portuguese border.
Virtually any of these resorts will be ideal for beach based holidays, although some are more
popular than others depending on proximity to the regional airport. Originally fishing communities,
these areas now derive their main livelihood from tourism. The Spanish Costas (meaning coasts)
often merge into one another in areas that are highly developed. Going from north to south here is a
brief introduction.
By flying to Girona airport in Catalonia, or Barcelona, beach lovers can discover many sheltered
coves ideal for sunbathing and swimming which have largely maintained their original
character throughout the decades of being a popular package holiday destination. However,
those who desire sandy beaches rather than pebbly ones may be disappointed. This is the Costa
nearest to southern France. The premier resorts of Lloret de Mar and its quieter neighbour,
Tossa del Mar are located here, Lloret offers great night life to the young and lively set as well as
quality beach time during daylight hours. Amazingly intact medieval castles are typical of this
region so there is plenty to discover for those in search of history and cultural enrichment.
Barcelona is also easily reached if a day trip to the city is something you wish to do as a change
from a day on the beach. Here you can spend a day discovering the famous Sagrada Familia which

suffer from Major Depressive Disorder (MDD)(Source 1). The human brain and its complexities
currently make it impossible to quantify the exact way in which depression arises and affects a
person. However, one thing is certain, a lot of people are sad, and it is getting worse. The rate of
depression among high school to college age students has increased significantly in the U.S. over

Additionally, temperament, the way in which an individual views the world and their
unacknowledged assumptions about how it works, also influence mood (Source 11).
Although depression is classified as a mental illness, clinical depression can produce a host of
physical and mental symptoms. Mentally, depression makes a person feel miserable, hopeless, and
as though the smallest tasks are impossible. Previously enjoyed activities often become
uninteresting and anger and stress levels can skyrocket. Physically, chronic exhaustion sets in and
aches and pains can arise which have no apparent cause (Source 1).
The MMPI test is heavily used in psychiatric and depression research. The MMPI, Minnesota
Multiphasic Personality Inventory, is the most widely used psychometric test for measuring adult
psychopathology in the world , and its derivatives, the updated MMPI 2 and the MMPI A that is
used in adolescents, are both widely used and accepted in the academic and psychiatric
communities (Source 4).

16. Wealth and Happiness
Wealth and happiness
The human kind has always strived towards power, and wealth is one of the necessities for those
who want this power. However, nowadays many seek wealth, because they want the freedom that
money can grant, and thus become happier. Some people tend overrate how much happier they will
get by becoming rich. That leads to the question: Can you buy happiness?
1.
In the first text, David Brooks tries to explain the correlation between wealth and happiness. With
Sandra Bullock s experience as an example, he tries to prove his point that getting richer only will
make you a little bit happier, as in the USA, where the country has gotten a lot richer during the
last 50 years, but not happier than before. However, he does ... Show more content on

Another thing he does is giving his personal opinion: Nonetheless, if you had to take more than
three seconds to think about this question you are absolutely crazy . This will either make us agree
or disagree. No matter what it makes us think, maybe even after we have read the article, and thus
he has engaged us in the problem and the text.
3.
Whether spending money brings happiness or not, depends on the individual. Many believe
that getting rich will automatically make you happier. According to Peter Singer, and his data
from Science there is practically no correlation between money and happiness. Moreover, he
claims that rich people are spending more time on activities, which are associated with negative
feelings. This is probably because of their job that might be more stressful and have more work
hours, than those who do not earn quite as much have. Although this might be a bad deal in the
short run, exchanging happiness for money. In the long run it can result in a greater feeling of
joy, than it would ever have been possible, by giving up on the well paying, but stressful job, to
live a more poor, but happier life. The Warren Buffet incident is a perfect example. Not only
thinking about the happiness he got for himself, but also the millions of persons whose lives was
improved or even saved by Buffet.
In addition, when people have acquired a large amount of money, the way they spend it can have an
impact on how much happier they will become.

In captivity, they are limited to the distance they are allowed to swim. They travel in small,
repetitive circles and are unable to get the amount of exercise required for them to live a healthy
life (Aquariums and Marine Parks). Dolphins and whales communicate and navigate with one
another by echolocation. When placed in an arena with restricted walls, the vibrations from their
calls bounce off the pool s glass and drive the sea animal insane (Aquariums and Marine Parks).
Being in a small pool or tank impairs the animal s mental and physical health. Some orcas break
their teeth on the metal bars containing them in hopes of chewing their way to freedom (Aquariums
and Marine Parks). This often leads to oral hygiene issues and can end in serious illness or death for
the whales and dolphins. Deaths and sickness in marine parks and aquariums are common
occurrences that are frequently neglected and overlooked. Orcas that usually live for hundreds of
years only live a few because tight spaces cause insanity, synthetic foods lead to an unhealthy diet,
and punishments cause the animals to have traumatic experiences. They have gruesome injuries
from attempting to escape and are burned, beaten, and electrocuted as punishment. (Aquariums and

Beowulf and Modern United States
Many people who read the poem Beowulf would probably find it hard to find similarities
between the poem and life in modern America. How could one compare an ancient Anglo Saxon
culture with the sophisticated world that we are living in today? But, if we look closely, we
may be able to pinpoint some parallel between the two societies. This essay will discuss the
topics of warrior life, the bad guy, and social similarities. One might wonder how a warrior
culture might be similar to our own? But if we consider American culture, we are actually still
very war like. We have a strong military system built to protect our country and the people that

There have been anti war protests because people are not so sure who the bad guy is. In Beowulf, I
felt that same idea. Even though Grendel is doing bad things, I don t think that he is so different
from the humans. He is killing people for his own reasons, which is the same attitude I saw in
Beowulf. Grendel is jealous of the humans and his inability to be like them causes him to kill
those same people he envies. Murders are acts of revenge in some cases in the story such as the
death of Aeschere by Grendel s mother for her son s death. Killing occurs in the story for very
simple or petty motives.
There is also a social similarity in the cultures. There is the same idea of people coming together
to relax and talk while drinking alcohol. Many times the alcohol can lead to negative
conversations. This can be seen in Beowulf. Unferth says to Beowulf, Are you that Beowulf who
contended with Breca, competed in swimming on the broad sea, where for pride you explored
the water, and for foolish boast ventured lives in the deep? (Norton 11) He is trying to put
Beowulf down here, and I m sure the alcohol made it easier for him to say what it is he is
thinking. In Beowulf, the mead hall is a hub for this type of social interaction, a way to relax from
the pressures of the warrior life. This is very similar to American society now. Bars and similar
establishments have replaced the mead halls, but

The bacterium being observed was E. coli, which codes for green fluorescent protein. E. coli is a
bacterium that normally lives in the intestines of humans and animals alike, and can cause
infection. One hopes to observe a glow from a green fluorescent protein (GFP) which is typically
made by a jellyfish. This will be made possible by the additional presence of arabinose, which acts
as the inducing agent. The inducing agent influences the transcription of the GFP and activates the
transcriptional promoters. A promoter allows a foreign geneto fall into place much easier resulting
in gene expression. It is expected that the combination of the plasmid, with the Lysogeny Broth

District 9 also shows a strong use of vibrant landscape, particularly obvious in the use of contrast
between the modern, clean, ordered landscape of the MNU buildings and the desolate, junkyard,
slum like ghetto of District 9 itself. This represents the psyche of the two groups, and the vastly
different cultures and contexts of the two races. It also shows the balance of power between them,
and it s evident when the MNU conducts a raid into District 9, where the clean uniforms and
vehicles of the MNU, a contrast to the ramshackle buildings and filthy, ragged clothing of the
prawns . This first glimpse into the Landscape of district 9 colours our perceptions of the prawns
and their contexts. After the failed attempt to integrate them into society due to a lack of
understanding of individual ownership, and their vastly different culture, the MNU corrals them
into District 9 and treat them the prawns with contempt. This is a clear indication of their
rejection of prawns into normal society, due to their differences in context, morals and values. As
the film progresses, the two groups are explored deeper, and the landscapes continue to influence
understanding of the two groups, for example, a short video is shown of the space ship the prawns
used to arrive at earth. Inside, the city sized landscape appears hostile and dangerous. This
influences the audience s initial feelings towards the prawns.

21. Communication Of Vehicles And Vehicle To Infrastructure...
INTRODUCTION:
The evolution of wireless technologies in modern days helps to utilize these kind of technology in
many applications like vehicle safety application, a wireless data communication between the
vehicles and also between the vehicles and other infrastructure.
The objectives of vehicle to vehicle and vehicle to infrastructure communications are to avoid the
vehicle crashes, to examine the technological issues that may affect this short range
communications, characterise the communication needs of particular vehicle security applications,
to monitor the vehicles that breaches the law etc. according to the reports in coming 30 years there
will be a 60 percent increase in traffic on the freeways people spending lot of time and cost for
gasoline and other things due to the traffic jams. vehicle to vehicle and vehicle to other
infrastructure can help in avoiding this. my project focus on the communication of vehicles with
each other and with traffic lights and other infrastructure understanding the purpose of saving time
by reducing the travelling time and also to avoid the vehicle crash.

22. How Did John Lomax Influence Modern Popular Music
Introduction
Throughout this discussion I will be making a series of arguments that support the changes to
modern popular music that were induced by John and Alan lomax. As the work they achieved is
vast, I have broken it down into various sub categories to facilitate better analysis.
Academic
Being initially raised in the presence of cowboys it comes as no surprise that John Lomax
became interested in cowboy ballads from a young age. His parents believed that education was
important and sent John to college for a year in 1887. With his new found qualification, John
became a Principle and teacher. In 1895 John went on to further his education by studying a
Bachelor Degree at the University of Texas, signing up for double the amount of classes. In 1897
John graduated with a major in English literature. From this evidence it seems very reasonable to
suggest that John Lomax was an academic. It was during this time John showed his ballad
collection to an English professor, but it was not seen as being something worthy of academic
pursuit. John, disappointed, burned his whole ballad collection. In 1906 he went on to study at

It can also been seen how new forms of music was formed by their influence. It seems reasonable
to suggest that skiffle would never have developed in the 1950s if it were not for the
dissemination of songs by certain artists the Lomaxs had discovered. Ledbelly songs, for
example, were covered by artists such as Lonnie Donegan, whom had huge influence in this new
genera of music themselves. For example, iconic artists such as John Lennon, Jimmy Page and
Mick Jagger all started in Skiffle bands. Many artists of this time were coving songs by artists that
would not, I suggest, have be heard if it were not for the Lomaxs involvement in disseminating and
promoting

Such as, cooking, cleaning, and laundry. Both partner s use emotional abuse when they are upset

bringing the child places that are unfamiliar to the female partner. This has resulted in arguments

The beginning of Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) started in the early 1970 s when people
believed more could be done in the out of hospital setting. When the EMT was first introduced to
the people of the United States of America, the curriculum to become an EMT included 400 hours
of class, lab, and clinical rotations in various hospital settings followed by a 100 hour field
internship. 1970 had also included the very first National Registry of EMTs (NREMT), which in
1971, 1,520 personnel took the first NREMT Ambulanceexam. Lyndon B. Johnson adopted the
National Highway Traffic safety Act in 1966, which had standardized [EMT] training, promoted

EMTs have so called chores they need to perform such as [cleaning] the equipment.[They need
to] check and replace the used and damaged supplies. This is in case if on a call they don t have
any important damaged supplies that could be used to save someone s life. Other duties of the
job can include [sterilizing] the ambulances interior, if it is used to carry a patient suffering from
an infectious disease. [They also] restock all supplies in the ambulance and replace used
blankets, linens, and other supplies. Sterilizing the inside of the ambulance makes sure the next
patient they pick up doesn t catch whatever illness the previous patient had before them. EMTs
restock the ambulance so they can get whatever the patient needs to feel comfortable on the ride
to the hospital. Looking back from the beginning of where the EMT profession was, it has come
a long way. The NREMT has developed immensely over time, and for the better. It has better
prepared our EMTs today and helping them face whatever call they go out on. Not to mention
the progression of equipment from the early 1970 s to the present, has also played a big role in
giving our EMTs an edge for any call. Overall, becoming an EMT takes a lot of dedication and

25. The Issue Of Mounting Debt
The lack of sales and higher costs mentioned above led to the obvious internal issue of mounting
debt. It is so obvious we will only touch briefly enough on it to mention that mounting debt to the
tune of over $340,000,000, nearly half that owed to the parent company Suzuki Motor Corporation,
proved to be an insurmountable mountain to scale (Szczesny, 2012). The last internal factor we
will discuss is hardly a negative aspect of Suzukis business, but it certainly fits the definition of an
internal factor that directly led to the decision to pull out of the States. This internal factor is
their success in other regions of the world. While market share in the U.S. plummeted to well
under 1%, Suzuki was doing quite well in other regions. They were the leader in India, a country
that accounted for 40% overall sales in early 2012 (Hagiwara Hagiwara, 2012). Other emerging
markets in Southeast Asia were strongholds for the company as well, believed to be because of
the smaller frame of their cars. In markets used to suffocating small roads, these small,
inexpensive and durable cars were in high demand. And because of the success in these non U.S.
markets the decision became clearer, as there was an alternative place to allocate resources. If
other successful markets hadn t existed it is easy to see how a decision to simply attempt to repair
itself and compete in the U.S. could have been justified.

26. Analysis Of King s Ghost A Story Of Greed, Terror, And...
Manipulation seems to be a common characteristic in swaying peoples perception. Journalism has
been an instrument used to act on this manipulation since text has been attainable by the masses.
Due to the impressive amount of average folk becoming literate in the early nineteenth century,
international journalism was an integral part of the Age of Imperialism. Around this time,
industrialized countries were on a quest to colonize and influence any state that was seen as
worthy. The role of journalism exposed these worthy, unindustrialized countries and manipulated
readers into believing they needed to be altered. This deceptive journalism is evident in Adam
Hochschild s King Leopold s Ghost A Story of Greed, Terror, and Heroism in Colonial Africa, and
influenced many nineteenth and twentieth century perceptions pertaining to humanitarianism and
imperialism. Hochschild s uses the story of King Leopold II and his colonization of Africa to
depict the notion of imperialists genuine intention s rather than their publicly perceived one s.
Using propaganda, Leopold exploits the many faces of journalism and ultimately perceives his
backwards Congo into a colonial, humane, necessity for the world. Even though international
journalism eventually led to the down fall of Leopold s hypocritical jurisdiction, the principal role
of journalists relating to the Congo was to report what was beneficial to the writer. This is evident
in Leopold s portrayal of the Congo to the public, and

As mentioned above, the key parties involved are Neiman, TPG, Warburg, their respective lawyers

War was declared on Austria and Prussia in 1972 by the new legislative Assembly (History.com).
They believed that French emigres were arranging regressive counter revolutionary alliances. By

France the revolt had gripped the nation, as the political disaster took an extreme turn. This
occurred when a rising group of insurgents, led by a radical group called the Jacobins, attacked the

34. Synthesis Of Tio 2 Nanoparticles
INTRODUCTION
In nature Titanium Oxide exists in three primary phases, namely, Anatase, Rutile and Brookite. In
each case the sizes of different cells vary.[1]
In recent years TiO2 has been widely used for preparation of various and varying types of
nanomaterials such as nanoparticles, nanorods, nanowires as well as nanoporous TiO2 containing
materials.[3] Regardless of its scale Titanium Oxide maintains its photocatalytic activity. Nanoscale
TiO2 has an advantage of being surface reactive that fosters its interactions with biological
molecules, such as phosphorylated proteins and peptides [4] as well as nonspecific binding with
DNA [5].
The surface molecules of nanoscale TiO2 particles are on the corner of the particle and are forced
by confinement stress into a pentacoordinated, square pyramidal orientation. Such molecules have
an affinity for stable nanoparticle conjugation to ortho substituted bidentate ligands such as
dopamine.[7,8]
The various methods used for the synthesis of TiO 2 nanoparticles include sol gel, solvothermal and
hydrothermal methods[3], although new methods are now being used. One of the new methods is
the use of different dopants in the synthesis of Titanium oxide nanocomposites, such as the different
noble metals[11]. Also different nanoparticle coating materials and photosensitizing dyes.[13 17]
In this paper the various applications of TiO 2 nanocomposites are briefly summarized. Some of
the major applications of TiO2 nanocomposites are in

36. Examples Of Pathos In Medea
Euripides s Medea is a Greek tragedy set in fifth century BC Athens that depicts the plotting of
Medea s revenge, who herself was wronged and betrayed by her husband. Like other tragedies, we
can see that emotions are at the heart of Medea. These emotions are resonant and altruistic such
that we feel for other people who have no direct connection with us nor belong in the same world.
This ability to evoke the outgoing emotion in the audience opposed to an introverted self
absorption view is characteristic of Greek tragedy. Similarly, Euripideshandles the complexity of
his characters, supplying an element of pathos to his audience in the process. From the cries of
Medea lamenting on the injustice suffered by her, to her dilemma over the... Show more content on

An essential point to note is that like Medea, Jason cannot be labeled as a typical villain with
only evil thoughts. It is revealed that his desire to marry the princess was nothing about the
princess . Instead, it was to protect (Medea) and to father some royal sons , ultimately for
security . Just like Medea, Jason is too a victim of the forces of human nature and society shown
through his desire to climb the social ladder through marriage. He was not a heartless villain but
instead, he still cares for Medea and his sons. Hence, this makes the final scene when Jason arrives
after his sons infanticide even more striking in its pathos. It is interesting to note at this point,
Euripides employs deus ex machina to save Medea from the consequence of her crimes through
the escape in Helios s dragon chariot. Jason is hence left on stage alone and appears to be
completely defeated emphasised by the image of a triumphant Medea in the chariot. He is left
childless and his bride gone along with his dreams of power. Euripides hence effectively builds up
to this scene through the application of the deus ex machina and the handling of Jason s character.
Ultimately, this evokes strong pathos as his lone figure left on stage leaves a lasting impression on

Darwinism and Evolution

Evolution, the science of how populations of living organisms change over time in response to their
environment, is the central unifying theme in biology today. Evolution was first explored in its
semi modern form in Charles Darwin s
1859 book, Origin of Species by means of Natural Selection. In this book, Darwin laid out a strong
argument for evolution. He postulated that all species have a common ancestor from which they are
descended. As populations of species moved into new habitats and new parts of the world, they
faced different environmental conditions. Over time, these populations accumulated modifications,
or adaptations, that allowed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first step in understand evolution in present terms is to mention genetic engineering (including
genetic drift). The first step to understanding genetic engineering, and embracing its possibilities for
society, is to obtain a rough knowledge base of its history and method. The basis for altering the
evolutionary process is dependent on the understanding of how individuals pass on characteristics
to their offspring. Genetics achieved its first foothold on the secrets of nature s evolutionary process
when an Austrian monk named Gregor
Mendel developed the first laws of heredity. Using these laws, scientists studied the
characteristics of organisms for most of the next one hundred years following Mendel s
discovery. These early studies concluded that each organism has two sets of character
determinants, or genes (Stableford 16). For instance, in regards to eye color, a child could
receive one set of genes from his father that were encoded one blue, and the other brown. The
same child could al so receive two brown genes from his mother. The conclusion for this
inheritance would be the child has a three in four chance of having brown eyes, and a one in three
chance of having blue eyes (Stableford 16). Genes are transmitted through chromosomes which
reside in the nucleus of every living organism s cells. Each chromosome is made up of fine strands
of deoxyribonucleic acids, or DNA. The information carried

Abraham has been documented through Teen Mom OG. The two are apparently off at the
moment, though that doesn t mean there isn t a reconciliation possible. Because Saran has been
a huge part of the MTV franchise, the show offered him his own special. This is a big deal
because the ones who have been offered the same have all been married to or have had children
with the star they were attached to while filming. Being Simon is set to air this coming
Wednesday on MTV. It will be an hour long special featuring Simon Saran in his everyday life. He
confirmed this was coming back in June, but Farrah Abraham shaded him when he mentioned it.
The two have been hot and cold for several months now. Saran is a businessman, and now,
Abraham is back to selling sex.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Starcasm, Simon Saran and Courtland Rogers got into an insult match where one
went a little too far. Everyone knows that Twitter is the place where anything goes. Racial
comments, insults, and everything else can be seen on the platform with no enforcing of
etiquette. Saran was going off about Donald Trump being blamed for the Las Vegas massacre, and
Rogers decided to have his say with him. It appears that since Jenelle Evans no longer wants
anything to do with Courtland, he is really trying to stay relevant. Both men reverted to heavy
insults, with Courtland Rogers insinuating that Simon Saran was a terrorist with a tweet about
hijacking a plane. Of course, Simon wasn t innocent in the debate, but Courtland really went the
whole nine yards with his comments. There is a streak of jealousy there. Being Simon is airing
this upcoming week and since Rogers no longer has any connection to the show, there may be a
little bitterness. The two exchanged a few more tweets and that was

40. The Role Of Tourism In Sevier County
Tourism in Sevier County is probably the biggest industry in terms of bringing in money in the
more recent years. It is one of the main contributors to its economy and it probably wouldn t look
the same without the heavy influx of tourism into the area. Both Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg are
advertised heavily for tourist attractions on their website (Smoky). This is because that they offer
many of the attractions that draw people to Sevier County. Most of these attractions are located
outside in the wilderness for the very reason of where the Sevier County is located, right below the
Smoky Mountains. One of the main reasons why Sevier County is doing so well economically with
its tourismis because of one person, Dolly Parton. Dolly Parton

41. Essay On California
There is only one state in this country where you will find warm beaches, snowy mountains,
foggy forests, and dry deserts and this is the state of California. California is home to over 38
million people and it is the third largest state in the United States. Most people picture the image of
paradise when hearing the name of California; laid back, tanning beaches, blue oceans, tall
mountains, sunshine all year round and the ideal resort destination. Unfortunately, people tend to
ignore the other unique features that California has; its geography, environment, economy, and
culture. Just like any other states and countries, California too faces many of its own problems and
is finding ways to resolve these issues.
Physically, California is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Its culture is influenced by few large immigrant populations such as those from Asia and Latin
America. California integrates food, language, and traditions from all over the world and that is
what is so unique about it. Hispanics Californians are arguably the largest cultural groups in the
state because of the large amount of Mexican immigration into California; they have hugely
contributed to California s culture today. In terms of numbers, White Americans in the United States
still dominate as the largest population in California. The African American population places 5th
as being the largest in California while the Asian American population estimates to be 4.4 million
and Native Americans populating 285,000. California has the largest minority population in the
United States because there was been a declined in non Hispanic whites and growth in Hispanic
and Asian population. Furthermore, English serves as California s official language because it is
estimated that 57.02% of California residents spoke only English while 42.98% spoke another
language. California is one of the most linguistically diverse regions of the world. A total of 16
languages other than English are being spoken as a primary language in California. Some of these
languages include Spanish, Chinese, Tagalog, Korean, Vietnamese, and

43. Defective Bacteria Experiment
Discussion and Conclusion: The original plates were swabbed with defective bacteria that did
not grow to show sufficient, so new plates were made in replacement and the following results
and conclusions are based off of observations from the new plates. The hypothesis stated earlier
was rejected by this experiment because in the hypothesis rubbing alcohol was predicted to have
the largest zone of inhibition, but according to the class and overall average, Betadine has the
largest zone of inhibition diameter at 42.2 mm for the class average and 39.6 mm for the overall
average. As shown in the graph and table, the largest diameter lengths in order from least to
greatest was Betadine with a class average of 42.2 mm and an overall average of 39.6... Show more

As stated in the introduction Betadine contains iodine which, through iodination, can quickly
kill the cells, whereas rubbing alcohol has to dehydrate the cell which takes longer than the
Betadine, thus explaining the result because of the ability of Betadine to kill more bacteria in a
less amount of time. Group 4 s was similar to all the other group except for rubbing
alcohol, which was 28.5 compared to the class overage of 20.6. The group that had the closest
result was Group 5, who got 27.0 mm. For rubbing alcohol, the zone of inhibition was an ellipse,
so the group decided to take the average of the longest and shorted diameters; therefore, two
possible sources of error could have been either in the measuring itself, or in the calculation of the
average. Taking the ideas from this experiment, some other tests could be proposed to investigate
the topic further. One experiment could be trying new products that have the same active
ingredient. The results would show whether the active ingredient has the largest effect or if the
bacterial growth is mainly affected by the combination of ingredients in a certain product. Another
experiment could be changing the bacteria. This experiment would reveal if the products are more
effective on a certain type of bacteria or if Betadine is the effective

44. Army Profession Of Arms Essay
The Roles in the Army in the Profession of Arms
In the first section The Army as a Profession of Arms, Toner (2010) said, The preeminent military
task, and what separates the military profession from all other occupations, is that soldiers are
routinely prepared to kill. In addition to murder and preparing to kill, the soldier has two other
principal duties. Some soldiers die and, when they are not dying, they must be preparing to die.
(p.2). I have been in multiple situations where I have either feared for my life or was ready to die
for my country.
How we were raised
We were all raised differently, but we all joined to serve our country. Regardless, of our Military
Occupation Specialty, we all volunteered for the greater good of the nation. The regular day in
the Army for most Soldiers begins with Physical Readiness Training and ends with cleaning up
the area of operation. That is not always the case with other Soldiers. It all depends on the unit. I
remember being in a Special Forces unit where all we did was a workout and drink beer. I also
remember sleeping in a foxhole in the middle of Iraq in an infantry unit. We are professionals at
everything we do. In the human resources job section in the Army, we always have to be on our toes.

They need to know where to go and what time to be at a particular place. It s like having a toddler.
You have to teach them how to walk talk and act. Like what one of the army slogans says. I am an
expert and a professional. It also ties in with the Non Commissioned Officers Creed. All Soldiers
are entitled to outstanding leadership, and I will provide that leadership. There is a lot of truth
behind this line. We are always facing challenges in the Army regardless of the branch. It s up to
you to make things happen whether it is your job or at home. The family also plays a big part at
us being professionals at what we do. I just wish that everyone did things the

45. The Birth Of A Child Is A Miracle
People say that the birth of a child is a miracle. When parents find out they are expecting a child it
is arguably one of the most exciting events in a person s life. Parents spend the pregnancy deciding
on names, decorating the room, and all of the other things that involve preparing to bring a child
into the world. Most parents wish that their baby is born happy and healthy. What happens when
the doctor informs you that your precious child has a disability? Having a child with a disability
completely changes the dynamics of the family and the way in which they raise their child along
with any other children they may have. Parents, siblings, and the child with the disability must all
learn how to cope and adapt with the challenges and rewards that come with having a disability.
While their child may not have been born perfectly healthy, there are ways in which the family can
raise a child and live a happy, fulfilling life.
There are many different childhood disabilities that range from physical disabilities to mental health
disabilities. The most common disabilities recognized in childhood are autism, ADHD, cerebral
palsy, down syndrome, epilepsy, spina bifida, dyslexia, and depression (Scribner, 2014). Most of
these disabilities recognized in childhood are lifelong disabilities that have a huge impact on the
child s learning and development. Between 2001 and 2011, the prevalence of childhood disability
increased by 15.6%. While the percentage of physical disables

about 17 million people. This is referred to as the Holocaust. During the Holocaust one of the main

The first to go was the prisoners. In mid January 1945, when Soviet forces were getting close to the
Auschwitz concentration camp complex, the SS began evacuating all of Auschwitz. They marched
nearly 60,000 prisoners west of Auschwitz. SS guards shot anyone ell behind or couldn t keep up.
Many Prisoners suffered from the cold weather, starvation, and exposure to the elements on these
marches. The SS also destroyed the remaining gassing installations. Finally, on January 27, 1945,
the Soviet army entered Auschwitz, Birkenau, and Monwitz. The liberators discovered around
7,000 surviving prisoners across all three camps. According to theholocaustexplained.org Many of
these survivors had been deemed unfit to join the final evacuation of thousands of prisoners by the

47. Aziz Choudry Fight Back Analysis
Beginning a new life is not easy. Migrants who yearn for refuge, hope and prosperity often select
Canada for its proudly proclaimed multicultural society given its abundance of opportunities.
However, many are left deeply disappointed. Aziz Choudry et al. endeavours to expose the stark
untold reality awaiting many Canadian migrants who long for an improved life. Fight Back;
Workplace Justice for Immigrants provides a comprehensive overview detailing the endless
adversities surrounding employment, social discrimination and exploitation, vividly accented by
the very migrants battling at the forefront.
Fight Back commences with a broad historical analysis examining the implications of unscrupulous
neoliberal tactics. Neo liberalism, defined by the author as the underlying backbone of intensified
political policies on multiculturalism, employment, and immigration coupled with increasing
privatization is largely to blame for the rise of precarious work in Canada. The author theorizes a
capitalist restructuring of Canadian politics in the 1970s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Arguments detailing the underlying causes and implications of neo liberalism were logically and
analytically presented. The use of official references from recognized Canadian institutes such as
the Labour Standards Commission, Citizen and Immigration Canada, Canadian Internal
Development Agency, Human Resources and Social Development Canada, Immigration Workers
Center and Union des Producteurs Agricoles amidst dozen others enables stronger, conclusive
validity. The tone of the book reflects a serious, alarming state as illustrated by the quote
Immigrants shouldn t be treated as commodities. The author s enthusiasm for the topic is infectious
and the use of vivid firsthand accounts and case studies spanning nearly every chapter nicely
