Essay Of Eating Customs
Eating customs traditions in Great Britain
The usual meals in Great Britain are breakfast, lunch, tea and dinner; or in simplier homes, breakfast,
dinner, tea and supper. Breakfast is generally a bigger meal than you can have it on the Continent,
though some English people like a continental breakfast of rolls and butter and coffee. But the usual
breakfast is porridge or Corn Flakes with milk or cream and sugar, becon and eggs, marmalade with
butter toast, and tea or coffee. For a change you can have a boiled egg, cold ham, or perhaps fish.
Lunch is usually served between twelve and one o clock. The businessman in London usually finds it
impossible to come home for lunch, and so he goes to a café or to a restaurant, but those who ... Show

It is clearly that beverage sales are not only an important part of the sales mix of hospitality
establishments but also more profitable than food sales. Coffee is one of the most popular beverages
of the world. It is made from berries grown in tropical climates and shipped to the country green that
is unroasted. The berries produced vary in composition and the treatment after picking. For this
reason, Mocha, Java, Arabica and South American coffees are quite distinct from each other. There are
three main methods of preparing coffee boiling, percolating and drip method. The coffee should not
stand long before serving. Tea is made from the leaves of tea bush which is indigenous to the Orient.
Black tea is made from leaves which are fermented before drying. Green tea is not fermented; the
leaves are steamed and dried. There are two main ways of serving tea: English tea is served in cups
and with milk or cream; Russian tea is served in glasses with a slice of lemon. Cocoa and chocolate.
As beverages made from them are generally made with milk, they are much more nutritious than the
other beverages. Cocoa and chocolate are made from beans or seeds of trees which grow in tropical
countries. Also drinks can be classified into soft drinks which contain no spirits (such as lemonades,
Pepsi, Coke, etc.) and strong ones, they contain some part of alcohol (such as whisky, gin, wine,
liquor, beer). Tea in English is a suitable occasion for

Tension in Witch s Money Essay
Tension in Witch s Money
In John Collier s Witch s Money, the stranger who suddenly appears in a remote mountain village in
Spain is initially seen by Foiral as an unwelcome madman. Certainly his surrealist description of the
landscape must seem a symptom of insanity to one unfamiliar with the trends of modern art. Once he
offers a nice sum of money to buy Foiral s house, however, the stranger is treated with a new attitude.
He is still not completely accepted by the community that he has moved into, but he does wield a new
type of power simply because only he can produce cash from paper billets. With his magic cheques,
though, the stranger creates a tension that grows into an economic struggle between himself and his
community. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This knowledge of cheques that the stranger has over Foiral and the community increases the tension
between them. When Foiral finally receives his money from the cheque, he is under the impression
that all cheques give thirty thousand francs. Knowing that the stranger has a whole book of cheques,
Foiral and his friends immediately feel jealous of the outsider: he has something that they want. A
stranger a madman who has more than any member of the community, has invaded their town.
Because he has so much and they so little, the villagers feel that it is their right to take the stranger s
magic cheques . . . even if, in the process, they must take his life as well. Ironically, tragically, their
righteous ambition leads to their own destruction.
With the stranger dead, the people of the community help themselves to his cheques. Money begins to
exchange hands as goods are bought and deals are made. The progress of economic development
comes to the village. No one is afraid to dig up the money that they have saved because as soon as the
cheques are cashed there will be no worries, and the town can continue to prosper. But as every man
meditates on their two of these excellent billets, they begin to feel that they were too rich to speak to
each other (71, 72). Conflict grows between one time friends as they argue over what is to be bought
and sold. Greed has come to town with the artist and his witch s money.

SNAPAssistance
The Government tries to tell people what that they can and cannot do when it comes to food stamps.
This is not fair to the people who use SNAP Assistance clearly telling people what they can and
cannot buy with SNAP Assistance is nonchalant. The United States government should not be able to
tell people what they could buy with their SNAP because it is unconstitutionalize. SNAP Assistance is
a government controlled program that helps low income Americans put food on the table, providing
benefits that are timely targeted, and temporary. SNAP beneficiaries receive what looks like a debit
card, with which they pay in supermarkets. Ways you can get food stamps are; Current food stamp

In general, Americans living at or below the poverty level tend to have a less healthy diet, as
calculated by the Healthy Eating (Dewitt 1).
While the SNAP program has been successful in reducing food insecurity, some wonder whether
SNAP is as nutritionally beneficial. Here we have assembled relevant information on the role of
SNAP in the nutrition of Americans, and areas where there is room for improvement.
Many critics of the SNAP program have accused it of encouraging unhealthy eating habits among its
participants and contributing to increasing rates of obesity in the United States. Such critics believe
that the mere distribution of food assistance leads SNAP recipients to buy more food, which results in
higher consumption among the SNAP population. Others think foods high in sugar and fat content that
contribute minimal nutritional value are cheaper, and are therefore more likely to be purchased with

U.s. Dollar s World Reserve Status
Throughout the 20th century, the United States has slowly constructed a global system of control. Its
superior military, weaponry and intelligence apparatus have been crucial in this system, but an equally
important factor has been its control of the global economy, and its primary weapon, the U.S. Dollar.
The dollar s world reserve status alone does not make it unique, but its deeply rooted role in American
and global geo politics certainly does. As Vassili Fouskas and Bülent Gökay point out in their book
The New American Imperialism, Dollar hegemony has always been strategic to the future of American
global dominance, in many respects more important than America s overwhelming military power.
While military power is more visible and useful as a display, it is the dollar s role as reserve currency
that secures the domination of the U.S. in the global economic market place . [1] This system is built
on serious fault lines and its future is the most important issue for international relations today.
To understand how the dollar secures American hegemony requires some review of history. After the
Great Depression and World War II, the economic structures of the Old World powers were destroyed
and in dire need of reconstruction. Only America remained in one piece, a situation that allowed it to
decide how the new world order would work. As World War II was ending, representatives from the
Allied nations were gathered in Bretton Woods, New Hampshire, where negotiations for this

Adaptive Leadership Book Report
READING SUMMARY
PART TWO OF Part two of the Practice of Adaptive Leadership starts with the challenge of
diagnosing the system. The book shares that the evolution of institution in the past is the status quo of
today and that the organization has power over you to change you. In comparison, I thought about my
idea to provide staff support to staff when I begun working for profit hospice. I received approval to
buy birthday cards for team and after three months I was told that the $3 that I spent was expensive
and not to buy any more cards. I believe that my job was more important than $3 so I stop.
Additionally, the book transitions to the adaptive challenges for three of organization. The first group

The pastor and I met the police chief and designed a job description. The police chief visited the
church about a month later and noticed that a former employee of the police department that won a
civil case against the department was a member of the church. The chief of police decided not to hire
myself or the pastor because he believed that we would be loyal to the parishioner if litigation would
occur again with the parishioner.
Furthermore, the author shares that naming the losses and realizing the hidden alliances are necessity
in diagnosing a political system of an organization. In the example with the police chief I identify the
following losses to the police department: reputation, power, control, and righteousness. As far as
hidden alliances, I believe that we could have used the police chief past experiences with his pastor
and how the pastor is conflict mediator in order for the police chief to see that we would be impartial

The Security And Privacy Of Citizens Essay
upon recently watching a movie titled Blow, I found myself asking how something like such could be
related to the embassy bombing events and others, like the bombing of the World Trade Centers, and I
quickly discovered that there are thousands of ways in which this is possible. In fact it is relevant
enough that the past two Presidents (Clinton/Bush Jr.) have drawn up plans to stop it and it appears
that America has an opportunity to tackle two rather large problems in one fight, killing two birds with
one stone per say. The only question left too answer would be what sacrifices will the citizens of
America be forced to make? Where will the line be drawn in the security and privacy of citizens. How
much are you willing to give up to lower your chances of being the recipient of a terrorist attack?
(Drug Enforcement Agency hosts symposium on topic) The links between terrorism and

Could Napoleon Dynamite Have Asperger s
It was hard for me to watch this movie and separate Napoleon s behaviors from his friends and family
members. Many of the things he does and says are like those of the people around him. His overall
weirdness was not behavior that I immediately would have identified as Asperger s, rather someone
who is simply a little odd. However, as I continued to watch the movie I was able to find certain
examples that could be red flags for Asperger s. From the very beginning of the movie, it seemed like
Napoleon never opened his eyes. They are open just enough to be squinting, and they are rarely
directed to be looking at a person. Asperger s typically come with poor eye contact in social situations,
and Napoleon definitely has this characteristic. Even when he is talking directly to someone, he doesn
t have the comfort level to look them in the eye. The second thing is that he is very uncoordinated. He
is able to play tetherball, but just barely because he hits it with different amounts of power and so is
constantly jumping out of the way. When he goes out to feed Tina the llama, he is awkward about
getting the food through the fence to her, and then flings it on the ground in front of her with his fork.
He also has an awkward walk that gets especially odd when he runs and is very uncoordinated. The
third characteristic that is typical of people with Asperger s is a lack of interest in the feelings and
emotions of others. Napoleon makes comments to people that most of us wouldn t

Changes In The Upper Palaeolithic Periods
Introduction The Upper Palaeolithic was an explosion of cultural and behavioural changes that were
not present in the lower and middle Palaeolithic periods. These are things such as the creation of art
and figurines and the development of technology in tools that were used. These changes show how
communities and individuals were progressing into what we now consider modern human
behaviours... Art We know that the art that was being created in Europe during the Upper Palaeolithic
we created by the Cro Magnons for over 25,000 years (Springer and Andrews 2011). The art that is
present in the Upper Palaeolithic is categorised using two systems, parietal (paintings and engravings

This change in behaviour could imply how to populations of the Upper Palaeolithic were developing
emotions and feelings for the deceased and how they saw life and death in their populations (Renfrew
and Bahn 2016; Formicola 2007). While the act of burying the deceased individuals is interesting, the
effort that they took enhancing their appearance by placing beads, the use of red ochre and other
elaborate mortuary practices shows the changes that were happening to the development of culture in
these communities (Dobrovolskaya et al. 2011; Renfrew and Bahn 2016). There is evidence that the
upper Palaeolithic communities could have has a social structure within these communities, as with
more burial discoveries, there is a clear showing that some individuals had been buried with more
grave goods and more time was taken when preparing the burial (Springer and Andrews 2011). The
Sunghir burial in Russia contains the skeletal remains of an adult male and double burial of a boy and
girl. Both burials contained ivory beads that were attached to clothes they were wearing when buried;
there were nearly 3000 ivory beads found in the adult male burial, the double child burials contained
over 10,000 beads together which would have taken many hours to create (Springer and Andrews
2011). The time taken to create these grave goods could suggest they were important people within
their communities such as offspring of a chief (Springer and Andrews

Computer Viruses And The Computing Environment
Over many years most computer users have been familiar with computer viruses and other major
threats to the computing environments. Even individuals who don t know much about computers has
seem a common computer virus or learn about a computer threat through friends, family and even TV
shows such as Mr. Robot. Also, the news and other information sources has covered threats related to
computer threats to harm folks. Like when Target and Sony was hacked in recent years and the
hackers was about to acquire people information and steal money. There is no hesitation that
companies and our culture is very concerned of the potential risk of these threats and computers
viruses taking a huge toll on the computer environment.
This paper aims to survey current threats and virus of today s current threats to the computing
environment. Also, ideally to discuss the types of computer viruses and explore new and current
popular computer virus and threats.
Even those that are very familiar with computing often have issue and are very unclear with terms
which are related with computer virus, worms, Trojan horse, malware, botnets, DDoS, hackers,
pharming, phishing, ransomware, and spoofing. One reason why it is hard for people to understand the
terms is that it is impossible to say in all given circumstances if a given program is malicious or not.
Even when it comes to threats to big companies such as hackers cause sometimes developers would

The Correlation Between Media And Politics
If people from the 1800 s were asked what the correlation between media and politics was many
would think that there was no such thing. Back in the day people did not have all these advancements
we have today. If candidates wanted to get elected they had to be in good terms with the public. If they
wanted the votes they had to convince they were fit for the job. Media is defined as the main mean of
communication. Everywhere a person goes they are bombarded with media. People watch movies,
television, read the new paper, blogs and books. Media is all around us. In today s society everything
revolves around technology. It is a good thing and a bad thing all at once. People don t really speak to

They rarely watch news because all the news they need are the ones who are on being announced on
online. Since there is a large about of people who owns smartphones who also have a camera and a
screen keyboard id they see something of their interest or something unusual happening they I ll
probably whip out their phones and snap a quick picture. What happens when people do such thing is
that they are creating bias. It is very difficult to be unbiased and be neutral. For example people on
Facebook who do not like a candidate will post a status and go off on how they hate him or her and
provide their own opinion. There are times were the person only goes off of what they heard. People
are quick to judge a person why what they hear or by reading non scholarly articles. A person has look
for flaws in what they are consuming for example put yourself in the other person position. Seeing if
the person is actually trustworthy and they are not spreading lies. The first thing many adults a tell
teenagers is that not everything that they see in the internet is true. In politics today media is being
used a lot more in presidential elections. The media has been helpful regarding getting information
further to a greater audience. Although people do not agree with the fact that social media does not
play a big role in today s election just because media doesn t have anything to do with politics. Media
is no longer only used for personal

The Success Of A Student Essay
Results: Ultimately, this cycle culminated in a better understanding of, and connection with, my
students. I felt that this cycle helped me to foster the gradual independence that the school encourages
in its students, as we could then collaborate together on problems and recognise successes. Perhaps
most importantly, the interest and focus I was able to show each student made the students feel valued
and to be more motivated. The students also seemed to demonstrate greater understanding of
themselves as learners; for example, the student who was struggling with maths expressed a desire to
continue tracking his progress independently. It is important to note that in that case I have the
advantage of only working with a class of 6 currently, and I may not be able to use this technique as
effectively with a larger class, though I could surely use some variation of it. Though I did have a
strong knowledge of students, particularly due to the small size of my class, having a detailed record
to which to refer and create feedback helped to deepen this understanding and the quality of feedback.

Improving The Digital Divide And The 21st Century
Information Technology is becoming more and more important in all aspects of people lives
nowadays, namely access to computers and internet. It is believed that technology will guide
businesses in the 21st century. However, it is argued that it would be nonsense to strongly rely on
computer when in fact, for the big portion of population, access to computer and internet is not a
reality. The main purpose of this essay is to outline the advantage and disadvantages of improving the
digital divide by firstly address all the factors or barriers that contribute to the digital divide issues.
Next, it will come up with some alternative solutions of how digital divide can be overcome and lastly,
this essay will outline all the advantages and disadvantages of bridging the digital divide.
Interaction between human and the information technology is increasing greatly in the 21st century.
The ability to access to information technology is significantly important for a person to actively take
part in the economic, social aspect of the world. However, there are only 39% of world population
have access to this technology (Refer to Appendix 1). The term Digital Divide has quickly become so
popular that it has entered everyday speech as shorthand for any and every disparity within the online

PENALTY Unsportsmanlike conduct. Administer as a dead ball foul. 15 yards from the succeeding
spot and automatic disqualification. Automatic first down for fouls by Team B if not in conflict with
other rules. This is the official rule in question as written in the 2016 and 2017 NCAA Football Rules
and Interpretations. If you have been paying attention to the bowl games the last few days, this rule
has come up in two key instances. The first was on December 29th in the Music City Bowl featuring
Kentucky and Northwestern while the second happened on December 30th in the Orange Bowl
between Miami and Wisconsin. Here is what happened, the response dictated by the rules, and how
the officials involved should have reacted. Music City Bowl What Happened: Arguably Kentucky s
best offensive player, running back Benny Snell, was handed the ball on a running play in the second
quarter of the game. Snell was tackled for a loss by numerous Northwestern players who, while not
breaking any rules themselves, were pretty rough slamming him to the ground. As Snell was getting
up, an official stood over him and reached out both hands towards Snell s upper chest. Snell reached
up and grasped the official by the wrists and pushed the official lightly away by shaking his head. A
flag was thrown, a 15 yard penalty was enforced, and Snell was ejected from the game. What the
Rules Say: According to the rules, the official made the right call. Snell did intentionally contact a
game official, and there is also a strong argument that, by pushing the officials hands away, Snell
contacted the official forcibly. What Should Have Happened: The official should have realized that
Snell was just downright mauled by Northwestern players at the end of a play that lost his team a

A Worn Path Analysis
In A Worn Path , by Eudora Welty, we join Phoenix Jackson on her routine voyage to town for the
medicine her grandson needs to survive. Throughout this short story, it is obvious that there are themes
of persistence, struggle, and love. This struggle to the town is made apparent and is emphasized by the
stories setting along with the use of symbolism, and mood/atmosphere of the story. The driving force
behind the plot is this theme of persistence through the struggles and the idea that love conquers all,
adds to Jackson s journey to the town to get the medicine. As Jackson makes her way she faces
hurdles that would make a normal person turn back, such as the barbed wire fence (Welty, 503). But
instead, Jackson carries on. I personally interpret that as a great statement of love. Jackson was willing
to go through barbed wire fences to help her grandson. In addition, she not only was willing to go
through the barbed wires but also was willing to beg so that she could get her grandson a toy. Nothing
stopped Jackson from doing all that she could for her family and to me that means more than anything.
Symbolism plays a large part in the telling of this story. Symbolism can be found in Phoenix Jackson s
name just as much as in the small toy she buys her grandson. The name Phoenix is referencing a
mythical bird that is believed to live in the desert and is capable of living up to 600 years. The Phoenix
is said to set itself on fire only to rise once again from its ashes. The symbol of the Phoenix expresses
the endurance and resilience of Phoenix Jackson. As she makes her way down the path she is
embodying the long lasting characteristic of the Phoenix. In addition, Jackson is constantly picking
herself back up, and keeping herself together. Just like the mythical bird, Jackson manages to continue
on the harsh and tortuous path, rising from her own ashes, all out of love for her grandson. While the
symbol of the phoenix is obvious, one might skip over the message behind the small toy Jackson
bought for her grandson. The pinwheel, or windmill as Jackson called it, is a circular collection of
blades that are pushed and turned in a continuous circular pattern by either wind or force (Welty, 507).

How Did Martha Graham Contribute To Dance
I decided to research one of the most influential Modern Dance pioneers; Martha Graham. Graham s
contributions to dance has often been compared to Picasso s contributions to art and Stravinsky s to
music; in my opinion she opened up many new opportunities and possibilities for dance including the
ability to learn free expression and honesty through movement. Martha Graham was born on May the
11th, 1894, in the suburb of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Martha was one of George and Jane Beers
Graham s three daughters. Martha s father was a doctor who specialised in nervous disorders. George
Graham was interested in the prevention of these particular disorders through physical activity; an
idea that certainly interested Martha. It was part of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Beginning with her best students from the Eastman school of Music, Graham started her own (now
famous) school for contemporary dance; The Martha Graham School for Contemporary Dance in New
York, where she continued to teach and express her own unique style. Graham mainly believed in
expression through dance so she tried very hard to create movement that focused on the realness of
life; her dance movements flowed with beauty and emotion. Modern dance is freeness and the ability
to express joy, sadness, and determinedness and without Martha Graham s influence on the art of
dance, modern dance simply wouldn t be the same as it is today. Graham also introduced the use of
moving scenery, the use of props as symbols and dance that was combined with speech. These were
all large changes and opened more possibilities and experiences to the world of dance. Graham also
got rid of the classic ballet folk dress and instead often chose a classy straight black dress for her
movement pieces.
Some of Graham s key works included her leading role performance in Igor Stravinsky s American
premier of Rite of Spring (1930). Graham also toured America in her role in the production of Electra
for four years. During the tour, Graham began to show interest in the American Indians of the South
West. It was this

Foreshadowing In The Chocolate War

finding oneself, trying to fix a mistake they made, and how it affects those around them. The Chocolate
War begins with the line They murdered him. An opening that, at first lead to confusion, then became
an enormous point of foreshadowing in the story. The author begins by creating a sensory image of our

The Differences Of Baseball, Baseball Vs. Baseball
To someone who might not know the game of baseball or softball they might think they were
otherwise the same game only one is played with a slighter bigger ball. That is not the case here.
Although they are both played on similar fields, they both utilize a ball, bat, and a glove there are
many small differences within each of those. The gender played by both sports is typically different,
the type of ball used, pitching, the size of the fields, bats and rules. When it comes to baseball it is
typically played by men, although women can and do play baseball, softball is the female equivalent.
Womens being fastpitch. However, Studies have shown that the majority of slow pitch players are

The Tempest And Ceasire s Play A Tempest

Literature 305
Research paper Racism defined in Shakespeare s play The Tempest and Ceasire s play A Tempest
Cesarie s version of Shakespeare play The Tempest is a postcolonial response that focuses on the point
of view of the enslaved characters Ariel and Caliban. Cesarie emphasizes the racial significant that
leads to colonial politics. In cesarie s version the tension between prospero and Caliban are more
evident. Caliban is more vocal about his hate for Prospero and is quite aggressive in expressing it. The
dynamics between Prospero and Caliban s relationship is imperative in understanding Frantz Fanon
theory on the psychology of racism. Black Skin White Mask provides an explanation for the
conditions associated with the presence of white rule and how it has effected blacks overall. Fanon
clarifies the justification for racism by giving two different perspectives; white and black. Fanon s
understandings can be identified in William Shakespeare play The Tempest and Cesarie s re write play
A Tempest because they both emphasis his main arguments.
Cesarie s A Tempest is similar to the original play The Tempest, being that the cast of characters are
mostly the same and that the foundation of the story is the same. Prospero has been exiled and lives on
a secluded island, and he drums up a violent storm to drive his daughter s ship ashore on the island,
however, the story is set somewhere in the Caribbean. The story

The Conspiracy Theories And Social Issues
The phrase conspiracy theory is often expressed with a negative connotation and used as a label for
the explanation of outlandish incidents that are hard for the everyday person to comprehend.
Conspiracy theorists are often labeled as lunatics that spit out senseless claims with no real substance.
The mere mention of the word conspiracy seems to set off an internal alarm bell that causes scholars
to close their minds in order to avoid cognitive dissonance and possible unpleasantness, since the
popular image of conspiracy both fundamentally challenges the conception most educated,
sophisticated people have about how the world operates... (Bale). What is often unspoken is that

what the person already believes. Conservatives aren t going to jump on a conspiracy theory that

City Of Thorns Rhetorical Devices
Human right is a critical topic across the world. The world started to pay more attention to this
situation after slavery and the fact that individuals would be held captured in refugee camps. Every
country should protect their citizen from getting their human rights violated. Currently in our world
today there are still many countries that have trouble safeguarding human rights. The same conThe
author of City Of Thorns used many rhetorical devices to convey his message. Ben s writing gives a
wonderful explanation of what was happening in these refugee camps. The use of imagery gave me
the picture of what was happening in these refugee camps. The author uses many different characters
to share their experience in the camps. Ben introduces a young kid named Guled that has been through
a lot in his life. Guled was born in a city of sadness and war. He was a good kid that wanted to get an
education and had a passion for soccer. By adolescence, both of his parents have died, and the city was
getting worse every day. Guled and his sister lived in the same house that their parents left before they
got killed. His sister was doing the impossible to protect herself and Guled. She would sell items on
the street to bring a plate to the table. In the city where Guled lived there was a group named al
Shabaab. Their job was to capture kids like Guled and make them force individuals to pray. The

Life is beautiful is a 1997 Italian tragicomedy drama film, directed and starring Roberto Benigni. The
film narrated a World War 2 story in where a jewish father named Guido Orefice s family was
captured into a jewish concentration camp, however he employed his fertile imagination, and manage
to shield his son Joshua from the horrors of the camp and sacrificed himself to ensure Joshua and Dora
his wife s survivals. The film strongly conveyed the themes of innocence and love through uses of a

Secondly, Dora s custom a red coat was the only bright color within the crowd entering the camp. This
must had been significantly designed to subtly showed the great love she has for her family in her
sacrifice with a heroic color of red. At the same time, this striking color implied her difference from
everyone else as a non jewish volunteer . Thirdly, by observing other prisoners in the room Guido and
Joshua were in, they eventually decreased implying deaths were always happening. This strongly
contrasted with Joshua s innocent views of the camp built and protected by the great love of Guido.
Also their dirty uniforms and skinny figures showed the brutal life they were going through. Guido
was samely suffering, but he acted positively and fully enthusiastically whenever talking to Joshua,
this strongly showed the his love.
The narrative elements of foreshadowing and characterization successfully made the story movingly
tragic and powerful, which conveyed the themes of love and innocence through the vivid characters.

Athletic Trainer Case Summary
Terrell did retire to a really nice retirement community. His decision to retire from his work as an
Athletic Trainer was largely based on his deteriorating health. His job had high physical demands,
whether it was carrying injured athletes off the field and always carrying heavy medical kits.
Especially with his arthiritis worsening, even performing simple tasks has become very difficult. He
was also facing some pressure to retire and he believed it was due to ageism, discrimination based on
age (pg. 412). His employers had less confidence in his competence and ability to carry out his job
considering he was very old. Eventhough, as people age their muscle fibers shrink thereby decreasing
strength, he exercised daily and was on healthy diet, which would slow down the decline (pg. 415). He
was very proactive in maintaining his shape and strength which was a requirement of his job, but his
health problems were dampening his efforts. Furthermore, he wanted to spend more time with his son
and grandchildren, who were just entering adolescence. And after, his wife s death, he has been unable
to cope with the loneliness and was seeking to connect with people who had similar experiences as he

A Comparison For Variable Cost And Absorption Costing
I have attached an analysis for your review. This analysis reflects a comparison for Variable Cost and
Absorption costing using
Sales: 60,000 units
Production: 80,000 units
Ending Inventory: 20,000 units
Based on these analyses I have made several recommendations along with pros and cons to aid in the
decision making process.
I recommend that we use absorption costing over variable costing. Absorption costing is a method
where ...fixed manufacturing costs are inventoriable costs (Datar, et al, 2009). That is, inventory
absorbs all manufacturing costs. In the absorption metho there does not need to be a distinction
between fixe and variable costs.
Per the analyses performed on the attached spreadsheets one can see that the ... Show more content on

We should experience some of the following positives after implementing JIT:
Supply Chain Management: The JIT inventory model may assist in being more efficient in the way we
handle supply chains and use our parts to assemble products. We can provide lower costs throughout
the manufacturing process; which can be passed on to our customers. With our lower costs, we could
produce a more affordable product for our customers and thereby help to stay ahead of our
competitors.
Reduction of Waste: By maintaining our current method we are housing products that go unused
and/or become obsolete. This causes us to sell product at a reduced price often less than cost or we
must dump the product with no money gained at all. The JIT inventory model should help to address
this situation and by housing fewer products in the warehouses we could address our customer needs
quicker and be open to customized orders.
Reduction in Warehouse Costs: It can be costly to keep excess inventory on hand. By moving to JIT
we may be able to reduce the number of warehouses we currently have as well as eliminate excess
storage.
Improved Customer Relations: Adopting the JIT model will allow for better servicing of our
customers. Having greater control of the manufacturing process will make it easier to respond to our
customers needs and any changes they may have or require.
While I have high lited the positives above we must also consider possible negative aspects.

A Brief Note On An International Environment Agreement
Assignment 2: Individual Research Paper on an International Environment Agreement
United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification: Empowering Local Populations to the expense
of concrete results
Introduction
The United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) was adopted in 1994 as a
product of the Rio Conference which took place in 1992. It attempts to combat desertification which is
defined as land degradation in arid, semi arid and dry sub humid areas resulting from various factors
including climatic variations and human activities. (Marc Johnson, 2006, Chapter 1) Land degradation
is a process of reduction or loss of the biological and economic productivity and complexity of
cropland, pasture and forest. By nature, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Through its dual focus on environment and development, the Convention is seen as the perfect
approach to sustainable development. Since its creation, objectives have evolved and now consist in
influencing international actors by raising awareness, providing strong policy frameworks in affected
countries, enhancing scientific knowledge about desertification, identifying and addressing capacity
building. Finally, it also aims to mobilize as well as improve financial resources (Secretariat UNCCD,
2013). Stinger and numerous Conference of Parties (COP) reports highlight the concerning lack of
benchmarks and indicators to understand phenomena, monitor convention s impacts and progress as
well as evaluate possible strategies. This is mostly a consequence of the absence of means to conduct
measurements in affected countries. What are the challenges the Convention is facing? So far, has the
UNCCD achieved some its targets?
Identify and describe
The UNCCD has to deal with many challenges arising from the nature of the environmental problem
itself and the structure of the Convention.
There is no international consensus on the definition of desertification, nor the possible solutions to
revert its effect on land and populations. The conception and interpretation of this process is difficult
and therefore hard to implement in national policies. Moreover concrete results are slow to come

The Human Good Analysis
When a person is treated as a disease rather than an actual human being, it exposes a symptom of an
even bigger illness within our own society. The LGBTQ+ community has become more accepted in
modern times, however, there s is still hate, and stereotyping that dwells within. Often, when a person
comes out they are met with the bright light of self acceptance, but also, they must now face possible
danger from others who cannot accept them, especially in the workplace. A person should not have to
face discrimination from the workplace from the people they serve due to sexual orientation, society
must learn how to overcome their hate and instead value the person for who they are and not for
whom they love. I will dive into a case of discrimination ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The easier said than done act to stand up against the discriminator is often never done. In this case, no
one stood up for Jimenez, not even Jimenez herself. When I say to stand up against, I don t mean to
yell, overreact, or use that as a reason to discriminate others. To me, to stand up against discrimination
is to inform the discriminator that their actions are discriminatory and instead ask them why they are
stating such statements. I feel that opens a conversation, and helps to get to the root of why he or she
feels that way, which in turn helps to educate. The great philosopher Rumi, was tolerant of people
from other cultures because he traveled and was able to learn about these different cultures, customs,
and people. He preferred to learn than to judge. Education is such an important aspect in the
progression against discrimination, and we should model ourselves to learn rather than judge, like
Rumi. As Rumi states, If you are irritated by every rub, how will you be polished? (Rad, 2010). I
interpret this as if a person is not willing to learn, how will you ever grow? If that man would have
been able to try to learn about my friend and about homosexuality, maybe he would have gotten a lot
closer towards being

Identity Crisis In The Color Of Water
While reading this novel, many themes crossed my mind, but the one that I found the most important
was Identity Crisis. James, the author of The Color of Water, wrote about how he struggled with
knowing who he was and what his purpose in life was.
James wasn t sure what race he was. He was confused due to the fact that his mother was white, and
he was white. His mother and him shared a conversation about the color of water. His mother, Ruth,
compared peoples races to the clearness of water. His mother quotes, God is the color of water. Water
doesn t have a color, (51). I think that this means that God is a million different colors, and if you
think about it, water s color changes due to its surroundings. Another example on how the title of the
book relates to James and his identity problems, is that water moves with what s around it. During the
winter it freezes and during the summer it s filled with fish. When you picture a stream, do you see it
ever stopping? That s because it doesn t.. Streams go on and on without pausing, and that s kind of ...

The first question I asked was how has your parents treating you through your early years, changed
the way you parent your own children now? My mom s first response was that she tries to be a little
less controlling than her mother was to her. She had no freedom when she was younger, so she tries to

  • 2. Essay Of Eating Customs Eating customs traditions in Great Britain The usual meals in Great Britain are breakfast, lunch, tea and dinner; or in simplier homes, breakfast, dinner, tea and supper. Breakfast is generally a bigger meal than you can have it on the Continent, though some English people like a continental breakfast of rolls and butter and coffee. But the usual breakfast is porridge or Corn Flakes with milk or cream and sugar, becon and eggs, marmalade with butter toast, and tea or coffee. For a change you can have a boiled egg, cold ham, or perhaps fish. Lunch is usually served between twelve and one o clock. The businessman in London usually finds it impossible to come home for lunch, and so he goes to a café or to a restaurant, but those who ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is clearly that beverage sales are not only an important part of the sales mix of hospitality establishments but also more profitable than food sales. Coffee is one of the most popular beverages of the world. It is made from berries grown in tropical climates and shipped to the country green that is unroasted. The berries produced vary in composition and the treatment after picking. For this reason, Mocha, Java, Arabica and South American coffees are quite distinct from each other. There are three main methods of preparing coffee boiling, percolating and drip method. The coffee should not stand long before serving. Tea is made from the leaves of tea bush which is indigenous to the Orient. Black tea is made from leaves which are fermented before drying. Green tea is not fermented; the leaves are steamed and dried. There are two main ways of serving tea: English tea is served in cups and with milk or cream; Russian tea is served in glasses with a slice of lemon. Cocoa and chocolate. As beverages made from them are generally made with milk, they are much more nutritious than the other beverages. Cocoa and chocolate are made from beans or seeds of trees which grow in tropical countries. Also drinks can be classified into soft drinks which contain no spirits (such as lemonades, Pepsi, Coke, etc.) and strong ones, they contain some part of alcohol (such as whisky, gin, wine, liquor, beer). • 3. Tension in Witch s Money Essay Tension in Witch s Money In John Collier s Witch s Money, the stranger who suddenly appears in a remote mountain village in Spain is initially seen by Foiral as an unwelcome madman. Certainly his surrealist description of the landscape must seem a symptom of insanity to one unfamiliar with the trends of modern art. Once he offers a nice sum of money to buy Foiral s house, however, the stranger is treated with a new attitude. He is still not completely accepted by the community that he has moved into, but he does wield a new type of power simply because only he can produce cash from paper billets. With his magic cheques, though, the stranger creates a tension that grows into an economic struggle between himself and his community. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This knowledge of cheques that the stranger has over Foiral and the community increases the tension between them. When Foiral finally receives his money from the cheque, he is under the impression that all cheques give thirty thousand francs. Knowing that the stranger has a whole book of cheques, Foiral and his friends immediately feel jealous of the outsider: he has something that they want. A stranger a madman who has more than any member of the community, has invaded their town. Because he has so much and they so little, the villagers feel that it is their right to take the stranger s magic cheques . . . even if, in the process, they must take his life as well. Ironically, tragically, their righteous ambition leads to their own destruction. With the stranger dead, the people of the community help themselves to his cheques. Money begins to exchange hands as goods are bought and deals are made. The progress of economic development comes to the village. No one is afraid to dig up the money that they have saved because as soon as the cheques are cashed there will be no worries, and the town can continue to prosper. But as every man meditates on their two of these excellent billets, they begin to feel that they were too rich to speak to each other (71, 72). Conflict grows between one time friends as they argue over what is to be bought and sold. Greed has come to town with the artist and his witch s money. Only one ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. SNAPAssistance The Government tries to tell people what that they can and cannot do when it comes to food stamps. This is not fair to the people who use SNAP Assistance clearly telling people what they can and cannot buy with SNAP Assistance is nonchalant. The United States government should not be able to tell people what they could buy with their SNAP because it is unconstitutionalize. SNAP Assistance is a government controlled program that helps low income Americans put food on the table, providing benefits that are timely targeted, and temporary. SNAP beneficiaries receive what looks like a debit card, with which they pay in supermarkets. While the SNAP program has been successful in reducing food insecurity, some wonder whether SNAP is as nutritionally beneficial. Here we have assembled relevant information on the role of SNAP in the nutrition of Americans, and areas where there is room for improvement. Many critics of the SNAP program have accused it of encouraging unhealthy eating habits among its participants and contributing to increasing rates of obesity in the United States. Such critics believe that the mere distribution of food assistance leads SNAP recipients to buy more food, which results in higher consumption among the SNAP population. Others think foods high in sugar and fat content that contribute minimal nutritional value are cheaper, and are therefore more likely to be purchased with SNAP ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. U.s. Dollar s World Reserve Status Throughout the 20th century, the United States has slowly constructed a global system of control. Its superior military, weaponry and intelligence apparatus have been crucial in this system, but an equally important factor has been its control of the global economy, and its primary weapon, the U.S. Dollar. The dollar s world reserve status alone does not make it unique, but its deeply rooted role in American and global geo politics certainly does. As Vassili Fouskas and Bülent Gökay point out in their book The New American Imperialism, Dollar hegemony has always been strategic to the future of American global dominance, in many respects more important than America s overwhelming military power. While military power is more visible and useful as a display, it is the dollar s role as reserve currency that secures the domination of the U.S. in the global economic market place . [1] This system is built on serious fault lines and its future is the most important issue for international relations today. To understand how the dollar secures American hegemony requires some review of history. After the Great Depression and World War II, the economic structures of the Old World powers were destroyed and in dire need of reconstruction. Only America remained in one piece, a situation that allowed it to decide how the new world order would work. As World War II was ending, representatives from the Allied nations were gathered in Bretton Woods, New Hampshire, where negotiations for this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Adaptive Leadership Book Report READING SUMMARY PART TWO OF Part two of the Practice of Adaptive Leadership starts with the challenge of diagnosing the system. The book shares that the evolution of institution in the past is the status quo of today and that the organization has power over you to change you. In comparison, I thought about my idea to provide staff support to staff when I begun working for profit hospice. I received approval to buy birthday cards for team and after three months I was told that the $3 that I spent was expensive and not to buy any more cards. I believe that my job was more important than $3 so I stop. Additionally, the book transitions to the adaptive challenges for three of organization. The police chief visited the church about a month later and noticed that a former employee of the police department that won a civil case against the department was a member of the church. The chief of police decided not to hire myself or the pastor because he believed that we would be loyal to the parishioner if litigation would occur again with the parishioner. Furthermore, the author shares that naming the losses and realizing the hidden alliances are necessity in diagnosing a political system of an organization. In the example with the police chief I identify the following losses to the police department: reputation, power, control, and righteousness. As far as hidden alliances, I believe that we could have used the police chief past experiences with his pastor and how the pastor is conflict mediator in order for the police chief to see that we would be impartial to all ... • 7. The Security And Privacy Of Citizens Essay upon recently watching a movie titled Blow, I found myself asking how something like such could be related to the embassy bombing events and others, like the bombing of the World Trade Centers, and I quickly discovered that there are thousands of ways in which this is possible. In fact it is relevant enough that the past two Presidents (Clinton/Bush Jr.) have drawn up plans to stop it and it appears that America has an opportunity to tackle two rather large problems in one fight, killing two birds with one stone per say. The only question left too answer would be what sacrifices will the citizens of America be forced to make? Where will the line be drawn in the security and privacy of citizens. How much are you willing to give up to lower your chances of being the recipient of a terrorist attack? (Drug Enforcement Agency hosts symposium on topic) The links between terrorism and narcotrafficking are real and growing, according to current and former U.S. officials who participated in a special symposium December 4 at the headquarters of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). Hosted by the DEA Museum Visitors Center, Target America: Traffickers, Terrorists and Your Kids brought together government officials with the private sector experts in an effort to educate the American public about what DEAAdministrator Asa Hutchingson called the extraordinary link between drugs and terrorism. • 8. Could Napoleon Dynamite Have Asperger s It was hard for me to watch this movie and separate Napoleon s behaviors from his friends and family members. Many of the things he does and says are like those of the people around him. His overall weirdness was not behavior that I immediately would have identified as Asperger s, rather someone who is simply a little odd. However, as I continued to watch the movie I was able to find certain examples that could be red flags for Asperger s. From the very beginning of the movie, it seemed like Napoleon never opened his eyes. They are open just enough to be squinting, and they are rarely directed to be looking at a person. Asperger s typically come with poor eye contact in social situations, and Napoleon definitely has this characteristic. Even when he is talking directly to someone, he doesn t have the comfort level to look them in the eye. The second thing is that he is very uncoordinated. He is able to play tetherball, but just barely because he hits it with different amounts of power and so is constantly jumping out of the way. When he goes out to feed Tina the llama, he is awkward about getting the food through the fence to her, and then flings it on the ground in front of her with his fork. He also has an awkward walk that gets especially odd when he runs and is very uncoordinated. The third characteristic that is typical of people with Asperger s is a lack of interest in the feelings and emotions of others. Napoleon makes comments to people that most of us wouldn t ... • 9. Changes In The Upper Palaeolithic Periods Introduction The Upper Palaeolithic was an explosion of cultural and behavioural changes that were not present in the lower and middle Palaeolithic periods. These are things such as the creation of art and figurines and the development of technology in tools that were used. These changes show how communities and individuals were progressing into what we now consider modern human behaviours... Art We know that the art that was being created in Europe during the Upper Palaeolithic we created by the Cro Magnons for over 25,000 years (Springer and Andrews 2011). The art that is present in the Upper Palaeolithic is categorised using two systems, parietal (paintings and engravings found on cave walls) and mobiliary (figurines and other small portable ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This change in behaviour could imply how to populations of the Upper Palaeolithic were developing emotions and feelings for the deceased and how they saw life and death in their populations (Renfrew and Bahn 2016; Formicola 2007). While the act of burying the deceased individuals is interesting, the effort that they took enhancing their appearance by placing beads, the use of red ochre and other elaborate mortuary practices shows the changes that were happening to the development of culture in these communities (Dobrovolskaya et al. 2011; Renfrew and Bahn 2016). There is evidence that the upper Palaeolithic communities could have has a social structure within these communities, as with more burial discoveries, there is a clear showing that some individuals had been buried with more grave goods and more time was taken when preparing the burial (Springer and Andrews 2011). The Sunghir burial in Russia contains the skeletal remains of an adult male and double burial of a boy and girl. Both burials contained ivory beads that were attached to clothes they were wearing when buried; there were nearly 3000 ivory beads found in the adult male burial, the double child burials contained over 10,000 beads together which would have taken many hours to create (Springer and Andrews 2011). The time taken to create these grave goods could suggest they were important people within their communities such as offspring of a chief (Springer and Andrews ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Back in the day people did not have all these advancements we have today. If candidates wanted to get elected they had to be in good terms with the public. If they wanted the votes they had to convince they were fit for the job. Media is defined as the main mean of communication. Everywhere a person goes they are bombarded with media. What happens when people do such thing is that they are creating bias. It is very difficult to be unbiased and be neutral. For example people on Facebook who do not like a candidate will post a status and go off on how they hate him or her and provide their own opinion. There are times were the person only goes off of what they heard. People are quick to judge a person why what they hear or by reading non scholarly articles. • 13. The Success Of A Student Essay Results: Ultimately, this cycle culminated in a better understanding of, and connection with, my students. I felt that this cycle helped me to foster the gradual independence that the school encourages in its students, as we could then collaborate together on problems and recognise successes. Perhaps most importantly, the interest and focus I was able to show each student made the students feel valued and to be more motivated. The students also seemed to demonstrate greater understanding of themselves as learners; for example, the student who was struggling with maths expressed a desire to continue tracking his progress independently. It is important to note that in that case I have the advantage of only working with a class of 6 currently, and I may not be able to use this technique as effectively with a larger class, though I could surely use some variation of it. If you have been paying attention to the bowl games the last few days, this rule has come up in two key instances. The first was on December 29th in the Music City Bowl featuring Kentucky and Northwestern while the second happened on December 30th in the Orange Bowl between Miami and Wisconsin. Here is what happened, the response dictated by the rules, and how the officials involved should have reacted. Music City Bowl What Happened: Arguably Kentucky s best offensive player, running back Benny Snell, was handed the ball on a running play in the second quarter of the game. Snell was tackled for a loss by numerous Northwestern players who, while not breaking any rules themselves, were pretty rough slamming him to the ground. As Snell was getting up, an official stood over him and reached out both hands towards Snell s upper chest. Snell reached up and grasped the official by the wrists and pushed the official lightly away by shaking his head. A flag was thrown, a 15 yard penalty was enforced, and Snell was ejected from the game. What the Rules Say: According to the rules, the official made the right call. Snell did intentionally contact a game official, and there is also a strong argument that, by pushing the officials hands away, Snell contacted the official forcibly. What Should Have Happened: The official should have realized that Snell was just downright mauled by Northwestern players at the end of a play that lost his team a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 17. A Worn Path Analysis In A Worn Path , by Eudora Welty, we join Phoenix Jackson on her routine voyage to town for the medicine her grandson needs to survive. Throughout this short story, it is obvious that there are themes of persistence, struggle, and love. This struggle to the town is made apparent and is emphasized by the stories setting along with the use of symbolism, and mood/atmosphere of the story. The driving force behind the plot is this theme of persistence through the struggles and the idea that love conquers all, adds to Jackson s journey to the town to get the medicine. As Jackson makes her way she faces hurdles that would make a normal person turn back, such as the barbed wire fence (Welty, 503). But instead, Jackson carries on. I personally interpret that as a great statement of love. Jackson was willing to go through barbed wire fences to help her grandson. In addition, she not only was willing to go through the barbed wires but also was willing to beg so that she could get her grandson a toy. Nothing stopped Jackson from doing all that she could for her family and to me that means more than anything. Symbolism plays a large part in the telling of this story. Symbolism can be found in Phoenix Jackson s name just as much as in the small toy she buys her grandson. The name Phoenix is referencing a mythical bird that is believed to live in the desert and is capable of living up to 600 years. The Phoenix is said to set itself on fire only to rise once again from its ashes. The symbol of the Phoenix expresses the endurance and resilience of Phoenix Jackson. As she makes her way down the path she is embodying the long lasting characteristic of the Phoenix. In addition, Jackson is constantly picking herself back up, and keeping herself together. Just like the mythical bird, Jackson manages to continue on the harsh and tortuous path, rising from her own ashes, all out of love for her grandson. While the symbol of the phoenix is obvious, one might skip over the message behind the small toy Jackson bought for her grandson. The pinwheel, or windmill as Jackson called it, is a circular collection of blades that are pushed and turned in a continuous circular pattern by either wind or force (Welty, 507). This symbol ... Martha Graham was born on May the 11th, 1894, in the suburb of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Martha was one of George and Jane Beers Graham s three daughters. Beginning with her best students from the Eastman school of Music, Graham started her own (now famous) school for contemporary dance; The Martha Graham School for Contemporary Dance in New York, where she continued to teach and express her own unique style. Modern dance is freeness and the ability to express joy, sadness, and determinedness and without Martha Graham s influence on the art of dance, modern dance simply wouldn t be the same as it is today. Graham also introduced the use of moving scenery, the use of props as symbols and dance that was combined with speech. These were all large changes and opened more possibilities and experiences to the world of dance. Graham also got rid of the classic ballet folk dress and instead often chose a classy straight black dress for her movement pieces. Some of Graham s key works included her leading role performance in Igor Stravinsky s American premier of Rite of Spring (1930). Graham also toured America in her role in the production of Electra for four years. During the tour, Graham began to show interest in the American Indians of the South West. It was this ... We should experience some of the following positives after implementing JIT: Supply Chain Management: The JIT inventory model may assist in being more efficient in the way we handle supply chains and use our parts to assemble products. We can provide lower costs throughout the manufacturing process; which can be passed on to our customers. With our lower costs, we could produce a more affordable product for our customers and thereby help to stay ahead of our competitors. Reduction of Waste: By maintaining our current method we are housing products that go unused and/or become obsolete. This causes us to sell product at a reduced price often less than cost or we must dump the product with no money gained at all. The JIT inventory model should help to address this situation and by housing fewer products in the warehouses we could address our customer needs quicker and be open to customized orders. Reduction in Warehouse Costs: It can be costly to keep excess inventory on hand. By moving to JIT we may be able to reduce the number of warehouses we currently have as well as eliminate excess storage. Improved Customer Relations: Adopting the JIT model will allow for better servicing of our customers. Having greater control of the manufacturing process will make it easier to respond to our customers needs and any changes they may have or require. This is mostly a consequence of the absence of means to conduct measurements in affected countries. What are the challenges the Convention is facing? So far, has the UNCCD achieved some its targets? Identify and describe The UNCCD has to deal with many challenges arising from the nature of the environmental problem itself and the structure of the Convention. There is no international consensus on the definition of desertification, nor the possible solutions to revert its effect on land and populations. The conception and interpretation of this process is difficult and therefore hard to implement in national policies. Moreover concrete results are slow to come about, ... • 34. The Human Good Analysis When a person is treated as a disease rather than an actual human being, it exposes a symptom of an even bigger illness within our own society. The LGBTQ+ community has become more accepted in modern times, however, there s is still hate, and stereotyping that dwells within. Often, when a person comes out they are met with the bright light of self acceptance, but also, they must now face possible danger from others who cannot accept them, especially in the workplace. A person should not have to face discrimination from the workplace from the people they serve due to sexual orientation, society must learn how to overcome their hate and instead value the person for who they are and not for whom they love. I will dive into a case of discrimination ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The easier said than done act to stand up against the discriminator is often never done. In this case, no one stood up for Jimenez, not even Jimenez herself. When I say to stand up against, I don t mean to yell, overreact, or use that as a reason to discriminate others. To me, to stand up against discrimination is to inform the discriminator that their actions are discriminatory and instead ask them why they are stating such statements. I feel that opens a conversation, and helps to get to the root of why he or she feels that way, which in turn helps to educate. The great philosopher Rumi, was tolerant of people from other cultures because he traveled and was able to learn about these different cultures, customs, and people. He preferred to learn than to judge. Education is such an important aspect in the progression against discrimination, and we should model ourselves to learn rather than judge, like Rumi. As Rumi states, If you are irritated by every rub, how will you be polished? (Rad, 2010). I interpret this as if a person is not willing to learn, how will you ever grow? If that man would have been able to try to learn about my friend and about homosexuality, maybe he would have gotten a lot closer towards being ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Carole King Research Paper Carole King is a musical icon in the world of 20th century popular music, and her longevity and success as an artist have cemented her as one of the influential musicians out of every genre of music. In this essay, I will examine how her musical style and female identity each played roles her incredibly successful musical career. Carole King was originally named Carole Klein when she was born in New York City on February 9, 1942 [1]. An accomplished pianist by age 10, Carole began songwriting in her early teens [1]. Shortly after, she helped form a quartet called the Co Sines and created her stage name, Carole King [1]. While attending Queens College, King met Gerry Goffin, her first husband [1]. Shortly after King and Goffin s marriage, they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Outside of music, King has also worked with Alliance for the Wild Rockies since 1990, notably advocating for the Northern Rockies Ecosystem Protection Act (NREPA) [1]. • 36. Identity Crisis In The Color Of Water While reading this novel, many themes crossed my mind, but the one that I found the most important was Identity Crisis. James, the author of The Color of Water, wrote about how he struggled with knowing who he was and what his purpose in life was. James wasn t sure what race he was. He was confused due to the fact that his mother was white, and he was white. His mother and him shared a conversation about the color of water. His mother, Ruth, compared peoples races to the clearness of water. His mother quotes, God is the color of water. Water doesn t have a color, (51). I think that this means that God is a million different colors, and if you think about it, water s color changes due to its surroundings. Another example on how the title of the book relates to James and his identity problems, is that water moves with what s around it. During the winter it freezes and during the summer it s filled with fish. When you picture a stream, do you see it ever stopping? That s because it doesn t.. Streams go on and on without pausing, and that s kind of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One, for example, is childhood and/or parenting. I interviewed my mother, Amy, and asked her a few questions about her life as a childhood, and she viewed her parents. Just by asking her about some of her mistakes she made, how respected she was, how she viewed her parents, how her parents treated her when she was a kid, and some of the difficulties that she faces as a parent. The first question I asked was how has your parents treating you through your early years, changed the way you parent your own children now? My mom s first response was that she tries to be a little less controlling than her mother was to her. She had no freedom when she was younger, so she tries to let my siblings and I have a little more room to wiggle. We have Dahl blood, so we are a little on the crazy side. So she sets some boundaries, but not a lot that she s being too ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
